Okay, this professor was nothing short of useless. Worst math class yet, and I have had some bad ones. Not clear at all, didn't start test and quizes until the middle end of the semester. Does not like questions being asked. Better know what you are doing before you get into this class.
So it's the middle of the semester, and so far so good. I think she has to be a little tough because she has so many students, in my class some tend to disrespect her. But so far so good, go to class, pay attention and you will do fine. I will update at the end!
This class is super easy! Its basically a geometry course. There's time when it's hard to understand but overall she tries to simplify it so we can understand. Attendance is mandatory cuz she picks random days when she gives out poppers. Dont be rude to her or walk out of class cuz she'll will give a popper. Overall I find this to be an easy class.
This was one of the most combative teachers I have ever taken. Any question ever asked throughout the semester was treated with to imply that the question was stupid and she didn't have time. This woman came off as miserable and it seems like she hates teaching math which made me wonder why she chose this career path.
I am not new to the education scene. I was a Senior in a Freshman class, but only because I put math off until the very end. However, I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully by a lecturer in all my years of college. She mistrusted students and treated every question like it was asinine. She punished all students for the behavior of some.
There is no question as to why students disrespect her. She disrespects the students and treat everyone as if they are incompetent. Will punish the entire class because of one student's actions. She also has an accent that can be hard to understand sometimes. Class is easy but she needs to chill out.
Test were a bit tricky. Overall, the class was okay. She gives poppers randomly, and sometimes she will give them at the end of class. Just read the book, go over the quizzes and hw, and you should do fine.
this professor is so rude! when she is asked a question she answers it in a very rude way. she randomly gives out a popper and there is homework and a quiz do every week.
This class was abysmal. I loathed going. A 5th grader could do the work. I made A's on every test, but never turned in my homework and skipped some quizzes and her random poppers, so I made a B. That's how much I hated going to class. I knew I could've had an A, but I couldn't stand to listen to her talk to me like I was an idiot child.
This lady really isn't that rude. At least not in my class. She's pretty good.. just gives too many quizzes!
She is really rude and hard to understand but as long as you show up for class to take poppers and study for the tests you'll be fine. I go to the CV tutoring instead because any question you ask her she responds like you're stupid. She also acts like its high school and scolds you for leaving early. Its college. I can come and go when I want.
She is really mean and acts like your stupid even though she always missed the questions she worked out. I would not recommend her.
she helps students with any questions they have and is willg to help after class hw n take home quizzes are included pretty easy class everything is multiple choice
This is one of the easiest math classes I have ever taken; it was easier than high school geometry. It is not difficult to do well in her class, just show up! People said she was disrespectful only because she does not allow talking or listening to headphones. She will call you out. She has a big class and wants to keep everyone in order.
Class is quite easy but she is not the best prof if you suck at math. She may come seem rude, but most of the time she either: is short and to the point, doesn't understand what the question is, or its an unnecessary question. Coupled with English being her second language, and sometimes she comes off wrong. She is helpful if you ask for it.
If you are not very good math this class can be a bit overwhelming. I would suggest going to the tutoring center at CASA. Reading the book was more helpful than the lectures. She gives out poppers ever class. Keep up with the hmk and quizes whatever you do don't get behind! she drops the lowest test score you can optout if ur averageover 80%
If you are not good at math, do not take her!! There was so much work to keep up with, she was disorganized and confusing. The tests were easy, but what made it hard was the lack of understanding of the materials.
ok so i just finished taking her class and i don't understand how people can do horrible in her class. If you pay attention in class, do the hw, and study for the test, it is an EASY A!!! there's poppers every class so you have to show up but it helps u understand the matarial better. And she will help you if you ask..and btw im horrible in math!
Attendance is mandatory because it requires a popper and she does not give you the answers. the study guide is sometimes useless. Make sure you study for every material for the test but she not a easy to get by teacher. She do not play.
She was fair, and knew what she was doing. Very sweet when you talk to her one on one. She doesn't play around, she's there to teach. Poppers are mandatory, but they help you. The class is easy if you attend and pay attention, like you should. Whoever complains about her needs to reevaluate their lives.
She is a little difficult to understand because of her accent, but I've had much worse. She is nice as long as you don't disturb the class. A lot of the problem people are having are not her fault but are because of the Math department policies. The book is really only used for homework and to fill in some of the gaps not covered in class.
I found her to be clear and concise in her teaching. She really watches class reaction and will go over material more than once if she sees any confused faces. She's a down-to-business, no-nonsense teacher who doesn't suffer fools lightly. If you're a fool (don't go to class, don't do homework, etc.), you may want to select a different section.
Great professor! She explains concepts really well and just as long as you pay attention and do all the assignments it's an easy A. I would definitely take a class with her again.
she will show you how to do the problem, but she does not make it clear why you do it that way or what is actually happening in the problem. you end up knowing the formulas but not understanding what you are doing. when you ask a question she gets confused about what you are confused about as though it is not possible that you do not understand.
Easiest A ive ever received. This class is built too easy. Professor has everything outlined for you to be successful. If you make anything less than a B- in this class, you were completely LAZY. I will def look to take her again for future classes. Again, math isnt my strongest subject, but this is the easiest A ive ever received.
I loved her teaching style! I am horrible a in math but she really has a great way to get through people like me. I would recommend everyone to take her! Hands down the best math professor at UH! oh and she also bumped me up!!
Super easy class and great for someone that hasn't been in a math class for over a year. Tests are easy and short. Lots of homework and quizzes, but they are all really easy.
She is a pretty good professor and explains everything thoroughly. A little disorganized, but she is a very sweet lady. Go to class because she uses poppers for attendance!
One of my favorite teachers this semester. Great at emailing back in a timely manner and gives great lectures. Always asking if the class understands or has any questions and works out all concepts to a point where you have no other choice to understand them. Easy class! Poppers every class, a few quizzes and homework every couple of weeks, 3 tests
I am not a math person at all but I absolutely loved taking Ms. Irina. She has a bit of an accent but I actually liked hearing it! She is really nice and her lectures are very helpful to the homework, quizzes and tests. I would take a math class with her again. Attendance isnt mandatory but if you don't go you miss the Poppers which are grades.
Ms. Irina understands that very few people actually care about the class more than just getting the grade. She makes herself readily available to students who need help, yes she has an accent but she is very easy to understand, and she does a great job teaching the material. GO TO CLASS! Poppers are 15% of your grade. Good luck guys!
Great professor! Takes her time explaining lessons and is readily available outside of class. Tests are exactly like reviews. Super easy class!
You have to come to class if you want to pass. Her tests aren't bad as long as you do the review. The test is the same as the review, just with different numbers. It's really hard to understand her sometimes because of her accent so make sure you print out the notes she provides in order to follow along.
She has a accent so if you don't easily understand people with accents don't take her. I think her accent makes it easier to pay attention because it isn't another American sounding voice. Very detailed in her instruction and easy to reach and get help from. Very clear cut expectations.
Ms. Irina is an excellent Math 1312 teacher. This class will help me prepare to teach high school Geometry. I am physically disabled and am most grateful to Ms. Irina for providing ADA accommodations so I can be successful in this Math class. Her teaching style is exhilerating and empowering to students. Thank you Ms. Irina. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
If you hate math and are not planning on majoring in a field that requires it, take your core math classes with her. 1311 is basically "How-to-use-your-TI-84-calculator-101" Just get a graphing calculator, so to class, do the HW, take the quizzes you can take up to 20 times, and do test reviews and you'll get at least a B with minimal effort.
The poppers are 15% of the grade. If they get lost, she blames it on the machine that grades them. I receives a 34% percent attendance when I was in class. Hard to understand and moves quick through material. She always shifts the blame to or on something else; Casa or the course coordinator. She post assignments late, like two days before holidays
Ms. Irina might come off as rude, but she is just no nonsense. She is always in CASA and willing to help. I made out with a low grade, but that's just due to not studying on my part, bc towards the end when I asked for help, she was more than willing to help me. Poppers everyday. She rewards extra credit if you're always there and for teacher eval
Ms. Irina was a very helpful, and clear cut professor. I'm not strong in math at all, and her lectures and notes made it really easy for me to learn and retain the information she was teaching. She was also really helpful and quick to respond to any questions that I had. There is also a lot of extra credit available in the class.
If you're bad at math, hate it like I do, and are not planning to go into a math oriented major, Ms. Irina and MATH 1311 and 1312 are the classes for you. Her classes are straightforward and she only gives bunch of quizzes and HW to help you with your grade. You only need the book for hw so you may want to buddy up with someone to share it.
classes are fun, take her
She is one of my favorite teachers. The classes may be a bit big, but if you sit at the front you know what's going on. She speaks a bit fast for most people, but she always stops when someone raises a hand and always stops to ask if there are any questions. She is easily accessible by email if you put the MATH 13XX days and time of class on subjec
I feel she's a good instructor, especially for a simple Math class, it's best to have someone who's not super great math to teach math, that way they go over every little tedious step, which is a great help for students who aren't great at math themselvs. This isn't a knock at Ms. Irina, she's a sweetheart. She has a non-traditional Russian accent.
Ms. Irina was a great teacher! I would definitely take her again. Sometimes she can talk pretty fast, just make her aware, she'll slow down. She also has an accent, but you can still understand her clearly. If you like to arrive late to class often, I wouldn't. Sometimes she gives poppers at the beginning of class.
Overall an easy class. Mrs. Perepelitsa is very clear in her lectures and the work isn't too hard. Just make sure you show up to class to do the poppers and do the homework on time3 and you should be good!
Great professor! She teaches well and makes sure you understand the material. She does her math a little different sometimes which can be hard to follow at times but overall great professor!
She is a great math professor for people who struggle with math. She has an accent, but she is easy to understand and moves at a somewhat slow pace to make sure everyone gets what she is going over. IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH SHE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR TO TAKE, I PROMISE!
Professor is great and knowledgeable, she explains the material well. I would take her again and I'm not one that likes math, but managed to get an A. Took it as a mini online session and it's a fast paced course. MUST watch the lectures and keep up with the daily assignments, not an easy class if you are lazy. 1 online exam and 2 in person.
Very great professor! Came in nervous because I'm not that great at math but passing with an A! She adds 10% of your practice exams to your exams. Teaches material very well and goes over things to make sure you understand.
such an amazing professor, definitely worth taking her class.
She is a great professor. She is extremely thorough when she teaches and explains everything wonderfully. She is super sweet and kind. I'd take her if you struggle in math because she really knows how to explain each and every concept.
Great professor. Really cares about students. Makes sure everyone understands and it is caught up with course.
She is a really great professor overall. Although Attendance is not mandatory, you should still show up bc she gives poppers during class, which count as 10% of your grade. She is very caring and wants to ensure that everyone knows the topic well before moving on. I would definitely take her again. If you have the opportunity to take her,u should.
Irina is an amazing professor! She is very nice and understanding and you can always communicate with her through email. If you have not taken pre-cal before it may seem a bit stressful because there is a lot of material to cover. Usually 1-2 online quizzes a week plus weekly homework. 4 Test and a final. BEWARE of due dates! No late work!
Took her for Discrete Math. I highly recommend. Awesome Professor. She explains everything as easily as it possible for the student to understand. The Weekly Quizzes are identical to the Homework. If you do the hw, you'll be good for quizzes. Her Exams are exactly like her quizzes. So MAKE SURE TO DO THE HWs! Do the time, get the grade.
Good class. She explained everything on the surface level though, never really went to depth with anything. We skipped many topics in the course which I was highly disappointed on which is why I gave her a 4. Her tests aren't anything new. Definitely no trick questions. If you do the homework and do well on quizzes, the test may seem a little easy.
She's a great professor, just show up and pay attention. You'll do fine. Oh and beware of 2 or 3 homework assignments or quizzes due a day, usually about 2-5 times a week.
Ms. Irina is a wonderful professor. She is very good at breaking down concepts and explains problems well during lecture. She wants students to succeed and is often willing to meet with students online for more help if enough people in class want to. She'll post her work to practice exams and different things like that to assist students further.
I ended up dropping the course because it was difficult for me. She did not explain well enough to me and i felt like i did not have any help in the class. I was failing with a 42 in the class
Pretty Solid professor for Discrete Math. If you pay attention in class and follow her notes for assignments, you'll be fine. Tests are pretty okay, but make sure you study beforehand. Definitely take her if possible.
Prof Irina is a great math prof. She has blank sets of notes online that you can print out and fill-in along with her during class which is very helpful. There is lots of homework but all that practice helps you learn the material better. Textbook code is mandatory but you only use it for homework problems. Ended with a 101 thanks to extra credit.
This class was very easy, high school level math. If you struggle in Math her videos (I took her online class) are very clear and she is a great teacher. The content is super easy. Lots of homework, quizzes, and poppers. If you half-ass all the homework and quizzes, and just take the practice test to study before the test, you will be fine.
Decent prof, but the lectures were SO boring. Honestly an easy A class because of all the extra credit and bc she posted blank and completed notes online. So many quizzes and homework bc of Math department regulations. Tests were pretty easy and multiple reviews were provided. Poppers every class, 20 attempts allowed on quizzes, EC for every test.
i thought she was awesome! attendance is mandatory. she posts blank notes before class so you can go alone with her in class ...(super helpful!!) about 1 hw & 1 quiz each week. gives extra credit and helpful reviews before tests. easy A if you don't slack off.
Make sure to go to class to take poppers!! (They count for attendance.) She's helpful and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. She sends out emails every week with reminders of what's due. Lectures are really boring and she goes really fast through the material, but it's pretty easy to follow- coming from a non stem major.
Easy to follow with her slides and she shows multiple examples of each type of problem. Able to ask questions after class. Tests have extra credit as well based on practice test.
Go to class bc she does poppers (for attendance). Lectures are easy to follow through as long as you pay attention. She posts lecture notes online. Tests are not difficult as long as you study. This class is time consuming since there's lots of busy work but she does send email reminders. Dont ask questions in class about grades. Shes very sassy
She has very clear grading criteria, a lot of homework usually two to three assignments due online each week. She typically emails everyone once a week to remind them, but it is on the calendar so you should I already know. Her lecture is boring. You have to go to class though because there is poppers everyday. Practice tests give you bonus points
As long as you show up, you'll do fine. It also helps if you're already familiar with the unit circle. Lots of online HW & quizzes, so keep up with deadlines, but she also sends out reminders. She's very straight forward; she teaches you exactly what you need to learn for the tests and doesn't ramble during lectures like other profs. Easy A.
I took the online mini session last semester and it wasn't so bad. There is a good amount of course work but it all makes sense when you take the tests and quizzes. She's pretty caring and is totally okay with stopping during the lecture to answer any questions students may have. If she talks to fast just let her know and she will slow down
Unless you want to waste 5 hours a week in her lecture, find a different professor for this course.
She will not help you with issues. Waste of 5 hours in her lecture a every week. Highly recommend someone else for this course if you want to learn or pass.
Poppers everyday. Good professor. Would recommend
Goes over material very well. Lots of extra credit. Very nice
She is fair to the level that if you need 0.00001 point left for you total course final grade to pass, she will not give it to you. Her lectures is so small. Some tricky easy questions in the test. You hve only 50 minuets to finish the test. Her personality isnt good and if you have question she she doesnt like, she will make fun of you.
Pretty easy class and she gives solid lectures. Do well on three exams and weekly homework and quizzes online and you'll get an easy A. She's very willing to help students and is very nice.
Like any other math class, there is homework and quizzes once or twice a week. 4 test including final. Extra credit: 10% of your practice test. She speaks really fast, but will slow down if you ask her to, and goes through all problems together. There is poppers so show up to class. Overall, light workload, just pay attention in class.
3 Exams one Final, if you have the old exams it still will not prepare you for her exams, her exams are completely different - questions are completely different. I had a 69.8 in the class she doesn't round up, sorry guys. I took my D+, not re-taking the class because this class was hard af when I took it with Irina. Good luck and study hard!
Great professor! Know the unit circle and youll be fine
Answered all questions. Very polite. You could tell she cares about you succeeding.
Professor Perepelista is honestly the best professor I've had. She gives you the tools needed to pass. She makes herself available during and after class. Her test are hard, as they should be, but if you study you will pass with flying colors. Highly recommended.
Irina is one of the worst and rudest professors that I took, not helpful and rude and not welling to help, reviews weren't the much helpful with exams. Test was heavy and the grading was even worse. There is NO final review for the final exams. Only 50 minuets to finish the test no more extra minute. she's strict with time in her lectures too.
At the beginning I was really skeptical, however I was wrong. As a person who absolutely hates math, I ended with an 88. She is clear, concise and her lectures are extremely easy to follow. Focus on the practice tests, (extra 10 points for getting a 100), read her online lectures. Attendance is mandatory, but worth it. Overall highly recommended.
Was very easy to learn from and her teaching style included lots of visual and active learning.
I took calc AB in hs and it was easy. She tends to over-complicate the material instead of teaching directly to the point. The material she teaches are not accurately emphasized in each test. Her lectures are boring and not necessarily engaging. If this is your first time taking calculus, you shouldn't really take her class.
She's rude and thinks that's student are at the same level of intelligence in math as she is
She teaches well and answers questions throughout her lecture. She makes sure to email her students throughout the semester to make sure they are aware of the resources that are available for tests and such. She wants everyone to succeed, though she doesn't have much power to change grades; it's mostly up to the board.
Professor Irina is an okay teacher. She explains the material but God forbid you ask a question bc she will give you the most passive aggressive reply. If you're unfortunate enough to not understand something she will question why you don't, until you don't even want her help anymore (in front of the whole class). Besides that, its an easy class.
She is kind and caring . She explained the problem step by step , and willing to offer extra help if you ask . The weekly homework is a lot , but that is out of her control . Usually does online review before exam
Professor Perepelitsa is an amazing teacher! I took her for precalculus and I signed up to take her for calculus next semester too. If you are like me and math isn't your strongest subject, I suggest you take her. She explains things very well and doesn't go too fast. She also makes sure everyone understands before moving on to another problem.
If you're familiar with CASA then you know you're offered an extensive amount of extra credit and several opportunities to raise your grade. Professor Perepelitsa is extremely passive aggressive but is kind at the same time. No idea how that is. Lectures aren't as helpful as going home and teaching yourself the material from the notes she uploads.
This was easily the hardest class I have taken as an undergraduate. Thankfully, Irina is great at explaining the concepts, but you must put in the effort to stay ahead. Discrete math is tricky, and often you will feel confident in your answers but be completely wrong. Practice, practice, practice. Redo all homework and posted problems before tests.
GREAT TEACHER. lots of HW but manageable, usually always due tuesday, thursday, or friday.
Attend her lectures and go to tutoring if you need extra help or her office hours. Other than that, the content is easy. 5% of the practice test goes towards extra credit on the test, she gives the poppers because she teachers the entire lecture, drops some poppers at the end of the year, and your final can replace your lowest test score.
She gives a lot of HW bur it's worth it. A lot of extra credit. The practice test gives 5% extra credit. Just do the HW and if you need any help just ask her. Her explanation is very good.
Honestly I was scared when I signed up with this professor due to the rating here, but shes honestly really good at explaining the course materials. She makes it easy for most to understand, and if you still don't after lecture then the TA's help, and even though she is Russian she is extremely fluent in English.
Always on time and prepared. Homework and blank notes uploaded well in advance. Homework and lab quizzes were reasonable, and good preparation for the free response on the exam. Always in her office on time for office hours. Emails solutions to questions if there are too many students at her office hours. Seems to have inexhaustible patience.
She is a good professor. She cares for her students success and she explains things very well. You have to attend class everyday if you want to receive attendance. She posts all her notes and she even offers online lectures to work on test practice problems with her students. I recommend her!
Really unhelpful professor ever, no idea how to teach and test are really hard. The exam review are not help at all, its including everything . Do not taking her, she is not worth.
Difficult to communicate w/ via email. 3 tests + final. Can get up to 5% extra credit from all the practice tests. Weekly HW and quizzes are manageable. She's not very clear in her lectures and is very confusing. Wouldn't recommend her. Her lab TAs are good, but the professor isn't.
I liked Irina. Her class is challenging and you'll be provided with many opportunities to make up for the grade.
She cares about students' success, explains the material really well and offers extra credit on the tests. Some weeks there are a lot of homework and quizzes assigned but if you attend the lecture and the lab every week you should be fine. the TA's are also really helpful
Shes ok but gives too much work. To pass, you have to study on top of it all. Doesn't really explain answers that well. Well-organized, and offers bonus points for practice tests, which allows you to somehow pass. This is a hard class. Beware
Professor Perepelista is honestly an amazing person. She makes sure to answer any questions that you might have on the material and is so encouraging! You can tell she knows what she's teaching. There's a lot of homework and poppers, but that's to be expected with the course. Her lectures are really in-depth and cover basically everything you need.
There is a decent amount of homework but it's doable. Just make sure you pay attention in class and attend lab (the TA's are helpful if you don't understand something in lecture). Her teaching style is better than other professors I've had, but you still need to study, practice, and review to fully understand all the material.
Dr. Irina is an amazing lecture. Her lecture is easy to understand. She is happy to answer any questions. Her homeworks are fairly ok. She provides reviews for tests. She replaces the lowest test with the final.
The lectures are super straightforward and easy to understand. If you do and understand the reviews she gives for the exams, you'll do fine. There is quite a bit of quizzes, in which you get 20 tries, but they are kind of time consuming. Overall, if you study, you'll do good.
lectures are very boring and often didn't upload documents until after 10 when they are due not too long after. I would not recommend it.
FIRSTLY IT WAS HARD TO UNDERSTAND HER AND SHE JUST POSTED OLD LECTURE RECORDINGS.
If you miss her lectures she has old recordings uploaded online which are essentially the same lecture. After a while I got bored of going to class and decided to just watch the lectures and still managed to do well. As a person she's a great professor, even brought her dogs on camera a few times as well as a reward for good test grades.
Professor Perepelitsa is fine, but is also not a very good explainer - she can tend to skip lots of steps. My TA was ok, but he had a tendency to not upload his notes/meetings to teams. I would Constante over her if I could. Tests are straight forward, but can be tricky. The final grade MIGHT be curved (I had a 90 but my final grade was an A; 93+)
She goes really quick through her lectures, it does not give us time to actually absorb the material. Provides us with a couple of quizzes and homework almost every week, and the homework is long and tedious, I did not even have time to focus on other classes because of this course.
She's very hard to understand at times, rude when answering questions, and she doesn't explain the work in depth AT ALL. I would ask multiple questions about the SAME thing that I was confused about, and she would just tell me that I'm "confused," and then proceed to tell me to go and study instead of giving me an in depth explanation.
The only reason why I'm going to end up passing this class is because the TAs teach way better than Perepelitsa does. She goes through the notes at a really fast pace and her explanations are often complicated or weird. Also, if you ask questions, she will reply in a passive-aggressive matter, which can be demoralizing. TLDR avoid her if possible.
She is such a great professor and answers any questions you have in class. She is easily accessible outside of class via email. I also recommend going to the labs because its a great time to ask questions in a smaller setting. What helped me the most was signing up for the SEP Workshop, a great chance to fully grasp the concepts.
I took her for Pre-Cal and she is an excellent teacher. I would definitely take her again for Cal 1. She records her lectures and puts them on Teams if you cannot show up to class one day. She offers up to 5 points extra credit for each exam and for the quizzes you have up to 20 tries to get a 100. She explains things beautifully.
I took Prof Perepelista for cal 1, and I think she's a very good prof for teaching the basics of calculus. Her lectures have plenty of example problems, and if you miss a class she has recordings on casa. The tests aren't so bad as long as you do the hw, and she posts practice tests for extra credit for every test, including the final.
Prof Perepelitsa is a wonderful professor. she genuinely wants you to understand the information. If you do miss class, don't worry she has recordings, but please do attend lectures as much as you can. I found that the HW and quizzes were much harder than the tests and the tests had extra credit in the form of practice tests.
The best professor I have had in my entire life. Not condescending like these people are saying, ask a question and she will most def help you and explain. Good amount of homework and quizzes but it is very helpful practice. Lots of options for extra credit for each exam. Very easy A as long as you try. TAKE HER. Ive heard worse from other profs.
I took Professor Perepelitsa for Cal I and I ended up getting an A-. I would say that sometimes she skips steps when explaining because she assumes that everyone understands what she's doing but I would say this can be remedied by going to the lab to ask questions or going to LAUNCH tutoring.
She is a great professor. It is easy to follow along with her and understand her during lecture. She does not go too slow or too fast and she also records the lessons so you are able to go back and rewatch them. I recommend!
Perpelista is a fine instructor, nothing crazy. The course is very structured in that you just follow the notes posted for you so regardless of the teacher you can use the notes. I would say that Perpelista is a great instructor for a student who simply just pays attention.
she's no the best lecturer but she uses CASA so take the practice tests a s many times as you need because the test is going to be exactly the same as them.
I think she forgets not everyone knows how to do math as fast as she does. She does not give students time to catch up during notes. She will talk VERY fast and move from one problem to another without waiting for students to finish.
It is not too hard as long as you pay attention and follow along with the lectures. Plenty of homework but it is very helpful for the tests. One thing I would say is she could go a bit fast on lectures, you look down and back up and the whole screen is full. Other than that, not bad.
took her for precal and for calc and she was a great teacher. very nice and caring and always explained new subjects very well and slow enough for those to understand. if you want to do well just do the practice exams till you make a 100 and you'll do fine
Professor Perepelitsa is amazing. She explains so good and she is sweet and caring. I took her for calculus 1 and she made this class my favorite from all the others. TAKE HER!!
All the lecture notes are posted online, extra credit is offered, all quizzes/hw can be retaken up to twenty times for full credit. The tests are identicalto the finals and you earn up to five bonus points per practice test you take. Overall an excellent professor she prepares you perfectly for the final exam. I wish every professor was like her
She teaches precalc in a very engaging way where it can be understood as long as you pay attention. Highly recommend.
She's great. She can move kind of fast in lectures, so it's recommended that notes are either taken digitally or printed before class. She explains everything very clearly, and the tests are easy to ace. You can get up to 5 pts of extra credit on each test just by taking the practice test, and there you have up to 20 attempts on every quiz.
Perepelitsa is a good professor and offers many opportunities for you to raise your grade. Sometimes the lectures are hard to follow, but there are a lot of online resources and notes. Be prepared for a lot of quizzes, lab quizzes, and long homework. The good news is that a lot of partial credit is offered.
I hate math and I am not good at it but Professor Perepelitsa made it bearable. She is very kind. Her lectures are like the homeworks, quizzes, and tests so pay attention. One thing is that she talks very fast because of the short amount of time she has to teach. Other than that, she's awesome.
Very sweet and responsive professor. Teaches content in a very engaging way despite having a very large class. Plus she says bless you every time someone sneeze in class.
She gave extra credits and scheduled meetings before every test to help us practice.
Textbook is free, lots of homework but they are honestly helpful, and her lectures are great. She goes through everything in depth and shares her notes so it's easy to follow along. There are tons of resources to succeed and she makes herself very available. She also does outside of class reviews before tests that are extremely helpful.
AMAZING calculus professor who is always trying to help her students. Lots of homework but was great practice for exams. Her test reviews are a MUST WATCH because they are huge boosters to what you should know for the exams.
Work Overload!!! It's a difficult class; however, professor Perepelitsa has an excellent teaching method. I don't recommend taking this class if you have a busy schedule. Due every week: 2-3 multiple choice online quizzes (10 questions each), 1 lab quiz (5-10 questions), and 1 written homework (10-12 questions).
Excellent PreCalculus instructor. Attendance is mandatory (usually always free attendance) so as long as your in class you automatically get 5% of your semester grade level there. She thought the course material so well and even stopped to answer students questions. She goes over exam reviews and always comes to class with a smile.
She is good at teaching as she is through when doing so. She offers printable worksheets that can be used to follow along. I recommend you do this as following along can be difficult. To get an A you must do all the hw problems on Casa as they were very indicative of what would be on the test.
decided to give her online summer calc1 a shot, tho id never taken calc b4. i dont regret! despite the class being 2 months long, her calendar was set in firm day 1, good follow-along-notes made learning topics quick super easy, and zoom reviews covered literally everything u need for her exams. as long as ur organized and pay attention, take her!
Her class is very time consuming. This was supposed to be my easiest course this semester but it takes up a lot of time for quizzes and homework. The quizzes retake is basically unlimited. She offers extra credit, up to 5pts on the test, and I suggest you do it. attendance is graded through attendance poppers.
(Mid-semester) She clearly has a deep understanding of what she's teaching and lots of experience, so if you need clarification on some topics then I recommend visiting her during office hours or getting access to tutoring. She does assign tons of work though and goes pretty fast, so warning about the workload. The textbook is online through CCS.
Usual math class: poppers, online quizzes, her test reviews were mostly helpful. Good teacher and knows what she is talking about
Would take again. I finally understand calculus .
Professor Perp gets to the point, she gives her lectures, and if anybody has a question she'll re-do the problems for more clarity. She cares for her students and I find her quite funny, but she can be sarcastic at times and some people have their own opinions on that. She knows what she is doing and she'll make sure you know the content.
(Mid Semester) Overall a very straightforward class. As long as you do well on the online quizzes(which are every other day), you will do great on the tests. The notes from the lectures are posted online after, so if you miss the lectures you can take a look at the notes. Try not to miss the lectures though, because attendance is graded.
Great Teacher! Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. Attendance poppers are taken at random at end of class for attendance points, but won't make a huge difference if missed. Lectures are very helpful and if you ask for help before class starts she will be more than happy to assist you. Like any class, just put in the work and you're good.
Her lectures are really good and she uploads completed notes after a topic. There are about 3 quizzes a week but they shouldn't take too long. She's always looking for questions so don't be afraid to ask. There'll be attendance poppers at the end of each class so be there! Other than that, she gives out a decent amount of extra credit chances.
failed pre-cal in high school and expected to do bad in this class but I did really well. Professor Irina is a wonderful prof, she makes her notes super easy to understand. There are 3 quizzes a week however they shouldn't take longer than 45 min. Test are very similar to practice test and ec on each test. If you struggle with math take her class.
great professor! rlly breaks down the material and her lectures r easy to follow. i rlly recommend taking her!!!
Don't get me wrong, she is a great professor, but I had difficulty with the course itself and its setup. It is a 4 hour credit, but 6 hours of lecture + lab a week, so it's a lot of commitment. Quizzes everyday plus written homework. It is so hard to keep up in this class. I got 100 on the first test and tanked ever since. Big commitment!
Great teacher. Ended the semester with a 99.5. Her notes and videos are extremely clear, just make sure you pay attention in the lecture. Lots of grades get dropped, and you get 20 attempts per quiz which makes great practice. The final was very straightforward, and her video guide and practice test was practically identical.
Pretty good professor.
She's a great professor and funny. I was given a horrible TA. He was hard to understand and would fly through reviewing material. He would search for how to solve the problems in front of us on Wikipedia. I wasted a lot of time going tutoring to at other places on campus, because of the TA ,
Her lectures were easy to follow. The quizzes and homework followed the lectures. The test reviews were great and very informative. She drops man assignments at the end of the semester.
Her online class was awesome. All of the lectures were straight to the point and had many examples of the types of problems found on the homework and quizzes. the test reviews were great and informative. the final replaces the lowest test grade and she drops many assignments at the end of the semester.
She was very kind and she went through the problems in her lectures step by step in a very clear and concise way so everyone would understand. I may be a little biased since I took calc in high school so I knew a lot of what she was teaching already but it didn't seem too hard. Overall a nice lady.
Dr. P has great lectures, they are straight to the point and clear, she makes sure to answer all questions, and is available outside of class. up to 5 points extra on each exam (3 midterms, 1 final). there is 1 hw a week and 1-3 quizzes (10-15 questions). She reviews each test and gives an extra review to do on your own. Great professor.
Good professor overall; you will NEED to study a lot. Lectures are fast paced. Attendance is mandatory 1 HW + 3 online quizzes WEEKLY. Assignments are harder than example problems in class. VERY FAST PACED. Paying attention will not be enough if you struggle in math. Quizzes have 10 attempts and highest score is kept. Heavy workload overall: 6/10
Professor Perepilitsa was great. I usually have a hard time with math, but for some reason it just kind of clicked with her. There was a lot of homework, but I think that's just the UH math department. The homework helps though, and the it was harder than the tests so if you do well on the homework the tests aren't bad.
She was a fine teacher, I have zero complaints about her. I would've gotten a better grade if I actually went to class lol but other than that, I recommend her.
TRULY AN AMAZING PROFESSOR. I never went to class, neither did i study for the class, only just read a day before the tests and got As because of how clear and straightforward she explains the work.
Great professor, I'm not too good at math but she explained everything very well. Attend the lectures and you'll do well on the exams.
The professor color-coded her notes and explained her steps very well. Attending lectures was mandatory for poppers, but it was also easier to understand the concepts.
I took this professor during the 2023 fall school year. The way the math classes were set up are meant to help you. Multiple attempts on online quizzes and practice tests. There were times she was a bit rude but she explained the material well. The tests are almost the same as the reviews and practice tests!
The professor explains concepts clearly and provides helpful practice materials. Attending lectures is a must, but the workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my study prep - highly recommend!
She is the best Calculus 1 professor; her lectures are well set up that it helps with quizzes and homework. There is a practice exam for each test, and it really helps along with her reviews and homework given prior to the exam. Yes, calculus can be hard but if you study and follow her during lectures you will do great!
Amazing professor. Tried taking calculus during high school and couldn't understand it-- ended up dropping it. Took it with Perepelitsa and was able to easily grasp every concept. Provides clear explanations & offers many opportunities for further clarification. If you do all the work/practice, you're set to get an A.
Her lectures are amazing and actually helped me understand the material. She really cares about her students. 3 quizzes and a homework assignment each week, and 3 tests. The practice tests are just like the real tests, they also give you extra points if you complete them. If you go to her lectures and do your work you will pass.
This professor is amazing. I used to struggle in pre-calculus up until I decided to retake it in college and had her class. She is very straightforward when it comes to lectures and although classwork can be tough at times, she leaves enough practice and quizzes to help you stay consistent. She is very nice and try to assist you in any way she can.
Might be the greatest math teacher in the world. Easy to understand lectures. This class is very homework heavy. 5 online quizzes and a lab quiz each week as well as a written homework each week. Overall amazing Calculus teacher than understands the material well. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Extra credit each test for doing the practice tests.
Great professor. Explained the concepts well and made it easy to understand. Would definitely recommend taking her class. Extra credit opportunities are given for every exam.
Great professor! She is well organized and gives extra credit before every test. However, there is lots of online quizzes and written homework due every week, but if you stay on top of it, you should be fine. Online quizzes and practice tests are similar to real exams. Practice problems and use flashcards to memorize formulas is key.
She is so wonderful and so nice. Her lectures make sense and she answers every question asked. Her notes are color coordinated so they're easy to understand if you do miss a day. Her poppers start to get weird after she sees a lot of people missing. Only sometimes I felt she was going fast as a pen and paper gal. Lots of work but it helps so much.
I love professor Perepelitsa! Her notes that are taken in class are easy to follow, and she answers all questions students have during class. She answers emails quickly, and her office hours are very helpful if you have questions or need help on the homework and quizzes. She also offers a lot of extra credit! Please take her!
Great Calc 1 professor. Would definitely recommend.
Easy class. Her lectures are easy to follow and the homework/practice problems prepare you well for the exams. She offers extra credit and completes a practice test in class. Awesome professor!
She is an amazing professor. She makes sure to answer all questions during lecture. Her notes are helpful. I am not the best at math, but she definitely made it easier to understand.
Literally one of the best professors I ever had. Took her during the fall semester and she made everything super easy and simple to understand. I took AP Calc BC in high school and struggled a whole lot back then, but with her, she made everything so much easier to learn. She offers 5% extra credit. Take her! Shoutout to Sleeba too.
As long as you pay attention to the work in lecture and do the hw/ quizzes you'll be fine. It can be a lot of work to get a 100 in the quizzes but its kinda necessary practice for calculus 1.
She's a great lecturer as far as explaining things very well and also leaving room for students to ask questions during class. However, I wished she was more lenient as far as letting us use outside resources when her help isn't available---she explicitly stated she's against it. I wish she was allowed to provide more extra credit opportunities.
ATTENDANCE is GRADED!! There is 1 HW + 1-2 quizzes a week. She explains everything very simply & as if you are learning it for the first time which was very helpful, even "prereq" knowledge. 5pts extra credit each test also which is very generous, & THOROUGH test reviews for preparation. No class the day before exams to study. Rly recommend her!!
For Precalculus, be solid in Algebra and Trigonometry because you'll rely on those heavily. The class starts off chill, but the pace picks up fast! Be ready to learn a lot of the material on your own. She doesn't mind questions, but you'll need to speak up there are a ton of students and a lot of problems to get through each class
My biggest issue with this professor is her lecture style. She often doesn't explain things and sort of teaches like it's common sense. Be prepared to teach yourself pre-cal. YouTube and tutoring saved my grade. Take someone else because I didn't learn anything from her. Had to teach everything to myself from some other place.
I could not recommend this professor enough. Her teaching is straightforward and she does a TON of practice problems. I took her for both precal and calculus and she was equally awesome in both.
I think she is a good professor. Though she sometimes did solve problems without explaining how she got the result which was sometimes difficult to follow. Ngl I did miss most of the lectures but still did well on the tests. Just study her notes, textbook, and do the quizzes again and again. Does drop some assignments near the end of the semester.
Great lectures, everything is digestible. She goes at a normal pace and doesn't mind going back to answer questions. Practice tests are exactly like CCS tests, except for the final. Offers 5 points extra credit every test and pretty nice lady.
She says we shouldn't be afraid to ask questions, but is condescending when someone asks a question, During lectures, she's always saying the topic are for elementary schoolers, but she is lying. All she does is lie about the difficulty of the topics and quizzes. Be prepared to understand little to nothing in class. She talks as if we have no time.
The professor is amazing and teaches a pretty easy course as long as you pay attention in class and study the materials. All the questions in the study guides are very similar to the ones on the test so it's basically just memorizing patterns and formulas. Would take this class again
i loved prof perepelitsa for this class! she's very good at explaining concepts clearly and takes the time to answer student's questions, no matter how big or small. she has an accent when she speaks but I like it imo. just make sure to memorize the formulas and get the written homework packets done on time (space out the work!)
Honestly its calc so you do have to practice a lot and work hard. But the Prof was good at teaching; she does get upset sometimes at small random things like students coming late, but other than that, she's alright. She tells you when you have lab quizzes, and it's usually once or twice a week
Professor Perepelitsa is an amazing professor! She's an extremely good teacher with insightful lectures and she has great examples to help you grasp more difficult concepts. Also, the practice tests and online quizzes are literally exactly like the test, so if you understand them fully, you will do great on the tests. She is a little condescending.
Prof. Perepelitsa is great at teaching calculus and her work is easy to follow. The practice tests are extra credit, and are almost the same as the test. Calculus is inherently hard, but the exams here are straightforward and not tricky. If you can solve the written HW and the practice test easily, its an easy A. Lab quizzes are once a week.
She made calculus super understandable and easy for me. Practice exams and Written homework were very helpful/ similar to actual exams. Overall I do recommend her she's a very good profesor.
This professor was amazing! I really enjoyed her class; she made it interesting and made sure we were paying attention through little jokes. I wish I could take her again. Her TA is great as well. No pop quizzes are resonable homework
Amazing Professor for Calc 1, the class does have a pretty sizable amount of homework, but the homework isn't unreasonable. Plenty of extra credit for tests, and the practice tests are VERY close to the real tests. Couldn't recommend this professor more.
She was the only professor whom I actually learned from her lecture the entire semester. She's kinda funny and makes lil jokes throughout the lecture.
Not a hard class but lecture isn't useful. Can be condescending and always makes students coming late to lecture a big deal. ALWAYS SAYING THINGS WE LEARN IN CLASS IS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH WHICH IS SUPER ANNOYING AND ALWAYS SPAMMING "RIGHT GUYS" AFTER THAT. Stopped going to lecture after first half of the semester and still had a 100 in the class.
literally loved her so much, her lectures where amazing and she spends so much time going over everything so you get it. she would answer questions and was great.
