Dr. Blandon-Gitlin is a great professor. She is always fair and available to help you. As long as you go to class and do all of the projects, you will do fine. She offers extra credit and will allow you to re-do a project a second time if you did not do well the first time. No reason not to recieve an A!!!! I highly recommend her.
She is a great teacher!!! She makes the class fun and is always available and willing to help. She lets you redo projects if you don't do so well the first time...She makes me look forward to going to class...
what a great teacher!
she is a good teacher. take notes and ask for her study guides before the tests.
Loved her. She is really nice. She enjoys the subject and loves having discussions. Her tests are surprisingly HARD... but i would take her for any and all classes i could.
She's one of those teachers you want to HATE but you can't because they're extremely nice and soooo nice. Her test are HARD and keep up with the reading (there's tons.)
Dr. Iris is one of my favorite professors. She is so enthusiastic and gives great lectures. Her tests are tough, but as long as you take good notes and study them, you'll be okay. Great class!
I did not find this instructor to be as helpful as the other raters said. She seemed like a nice person but the class moves very fast and you really have to know your stats. and testing methods. Material extremely dry and boring, almost useless. Unless you absolutely love cog. psych., I would stay away from this subject.
Professor is great. She is a little hard only because there is a lot to learn, but very fair. Two tests, final, paper, oral presentation, chapter critiques. It's a very interesting class. Worth taking.
Dr. Iris is a difficult teacher and her test are too, But you learn a lot. I highly recommend her class.
Dr. Iris is an awesome lady. I wanted to drop her class because it was very intense with a lot of information and difficult blue book exams. If you put a lot of effort into the presentation and the paper you will do well. Do every weekly paper only 1 page. Even though she was really hard, I would take her again.
she is ok. not that great. her lecture slides aren't very organized, so its hard to take notes on. she doesn't not post her slides online, either.
She sucked, worse teacher i have ever had. Not an easy class. Her tests are super hard and there is really no way to study for them because the book and her notes do not help. They have nothing to really do about the test. Stupid homework assignments that are graded. VERY BORING class. Majority of my class was failing. Not recommended
She is a great professor! Her CogLab (online) was tedious but as long as you keep up and make sure to ask her tons of questions, you'll do great. Usually I'm a B student but I got an A+ in the class and she loved my questions. Most hw can be used for other assignments so pay attn and you'll only have to do 50% of the work (most of the time)!
She is amazing. Helpful!! The previous student lives in some other world. Probably did not attend class. She expects us to act like college students --this is not high school where everything was spoon fed!! Her lectures are fun, exams sometimes hard.
Dr. IBG is incredibly nice, but I personally did not care for her teaching style. The class is interesting and you will learn a lot of fascinating stuff.
I thought she was nice at first but if you question her on something (like why you got a certain grade), she'll get rude and snappy. The online Cognitive lab is very tedious. You need to keep up and check in online often. If you keep up and get good scores on the assignments, you will get a good grade. I got an A but I will not take her again.
I took her online lab. Met twice on-campus for the semester, and they were worth going to. As long as you do the work, which is honestly not hard, you'll get an A. She is SOOO helpful and practically guides you through your papers. She WANTS to give you the A. Highly recommend! Very smart cookie; she knows her stuff well.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I have been pleased with all my professors at Cal State Fullerton. Blandon-Gitlin is a nice person but does not belong teaching. She does not know how to make material clear nor does the material match the test questions. Furthermore she too vaugue and she expects you to read her mind.
SUPER nice professor and very intelligent. If you miss 1 class you will be very behind. Her exams are based a lot off of the weekly readings and any empirical cases that she brings up in class. For exams, STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!! Mostly essay questions but not totally impossible. No assignments but a few class activities. Highly recommended
I took her online class and had a HORRIBLE experience with her! She posted assignments on Mon and had them due on Fri leaving no weekend time to complete them. Her expectations were way too high for an online class and I didn't feel like I learned anything new. She is highly unreliable and unreachable. She wouldn't help me with my paper! Dont take!
Great prof!! If you ask her for help and do your work, you will receive an A. She wants everyone to do well, but we had to work hard to get there. I learned a lot.
I took this class on-line and it was horrible. I have never done so bad in a class at Fullerton. Professor is not helpful at all and could care less if you pass or fail.
This teacher is extremely rude. Does not care whether you do well or not. I took her online cognitive class and it was so much work. She has weekly assignments which are tedious. You had to take the exams on campus on a Friday. Do not take this class with this teacher. You will regret it!!!!!!!!
she's the best teacher....She's willing to help students who are willing to learn...she's always there for you if you have any questions...she helps you if you show efforts on your end... I was also her assistant and it was a great experience....her exams aren't that hard if you study...
Hardest online class I have ever taken at CSU Fullerton in my 5 years being there. Would not recommend taking this class with this teacher at all. A lot of work and a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense. Exams are hard even if you study for 2 weeks!
Loved her. She is tough but you learn a lot. If you ask she will help you. She wants students to learn by doing their part. She does expects a lot, but this is how it should be. This is college not high school!
This is a really great teacher. She is so willing to help you if you ask. Her class was very challenging and there was lots of work, however, you will learn alot. regardless of what others say this is a very helpful and caring teacher.
Currently taking her summer online course and this class is the hardest online course I had taken. Most of the questions on the exam are word differently then the book and you must really know the process of terms, how to apply them in situation and most theories in order to do well on the exams..Be prepare to study if u take the online course.
Cramming a whole semester in 5 weeks is not easy so do expect to put in effort to pass her class. She is very helpful if you ask. She totally makes you feel comfortable to ask questions. 3 exams and a cumulative final that included many questions from quizzes. One term paper early in the year to get it over with. Take her!
She's really helpful if you ask her questions! She loves it when students show that they care, shes very passionate about the topic, and you can see it! Shes also extremely pretty and intelligent!!! Class is overall a lot of work, but it is an UD class what do you expect. Its not an easy A, but if you work hard you'll get it!!
Took her online class, all test is Online except for the final. For her final study the past tests.. And you will do fine on it. You really need to read and apply what your reading from the material and it makes you think critically. She's very helpful sometimes but extremely busy! Sometimes she acts annoyed when you ask for help it just depends what mood she's in. She requires a lot of work so be ready to dedicate yourself for a good grade!!!
AVOID HER CLASSES, ESPECIALLY THE ONLINE COG CLASSES AND LAB. She makes it super hard. Believe me. She explains it as a help to students because it is an upper division class. Most people think that she is helpful, but I say if she is available, and most of the time you can't find her in the campus because she has conferences to attent.hard class.
She is nice. She makes you work. You can get a good grade if you do the work and ask her for help. She is always available online.
took her online, loved the course. cog psych is a hard subject anyway and she made it really easy to want to learn. even though it's online, her easy personality shined through emails. seems like a nice person. this course is labor intensive, lots of reading, some test questions go after minute details from the book. study past tests for the final.
WAY TO MUCH WORK!! I understand this is an online class where you will have to do much more reading than in an regular class, but she adds on way more work than you would do if you would attend in person lectures. Tests are super hard and are worded so that you will get confused. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
Online class. One term paper at the beginning which is summarizing a journal article she assigns. 3 exams, 38 questions each (MC) but the final is on campus and cumulative. Do the quizzes and exams and study it for the final. LOTS of reading and activities (optional) every week, easy to fall behind. She is pretty good at responding back to emails.
This is a really interesting class and the modules each week were actually fun, but don't take her if you have a busy work schedule, it was way too much work for an online class. I put a lot of time into this class and felt as though I learned a lot and still really struggled with her exams. You will only do well if you engage in the material.
-very challenging objective, multiple-choice test questions -must know the material inside and out -reading the text and completing supplemental assignments are a must -must be able to analyze and think critically -very time-consuming -if you can't put in the hours, do not take this class
Her tests were hard and her notes to me were somewhat confusing. She was not clear at explaining the material and the book was necessary.
You will learn a lot!
There are 3 online tests (multiple choice) and one final at school. There are weekly quizzes and assignments. One journal critique (she gives you the article) Honestly this class is not hard, the tests/quizzes are just a bit difficult. Most of the questions are on "applying" what you learned. At the end she gives extra quizzes for extra points.
This is a online class and the only way to communicate is via email but she is very slow and by the time you get your answer (after one week), you have new problems. very confusing class with lots of work. Do not take it and stay away. I wish I took the class with somebody else :( Very DISAPPOINTING :(
The subject is not that difficult but she adds so much more material to the class that your brain goes crazy. Tests are very difficult. Impossible to get A. This is an online class but final is cumulative and On CAMPUS. Why? I took online class because I cannot go to school. Stay away and save your life!!!
Do your work often -- every week if you want to keep up. You will pass and do great if you keep up. Extra credit. She is in her office to help but you need to contact her in advance. She has a lot of people waiting during office hours.
Ok class, not that easy/hard. She posts many (optional) assignments weekly to prepare for upcoming quizzes & exams. Quizzes are a bit hard bc of wordy questions. Keep reviewing those quizzes bc there will be many same ?s on the exams & cumulative. There is only 1 3/4-page paper assigned. Last, she offers EC (up to 30) from extra quizzes & a study
Great professor, very nice. The work in this class is do-able but there is a lot of it. The cumulative final is on campus and you do not get to bring notes, (other professor's for this course allow notes) so this threw me off a bit. It has a lot of work for an online class but you learn a lot.
The subject was very interesting. However, she made it very difficult to enjoy. She was boring and regularly assigned videos to watch and so many articles to read before class and over all gave an overload of assignments to do. Her tests were difficult. There was a group presentation. I WILL NOT TAKE HER IN ANY OTHER CLASSES NOR RECOMMEND HER.
I think she forgets you have may have a life outside of her class. The reading load is ridiculous with some useless information. She is super nice and charismatic. The class is interesting. Three exams, the third is the final. One presentation. In-class activities (so don't miss class), 1 essay. She is too vague. No study guide. Overload of info
Professor Blandon- Gitlin is a very likable professor, however, do not take one of her courses online. It is very hard to get a hold of her through email. The course was very unorganized and everyone in the class was confused and discouraged throughout the entire semester. Exams are BRUTAL. If you take this course with her online try to stay calm.
Hard class!! Do not take if you do not have the time. Professor is nice.
I understand online lectures are tough for everyone, especially in this time, however this professor has unrealistic expectations for her students. She assigns 6-12 hours of work (stated on her schedule), assigns heavy readings with no organization, and is difficult to get a hold of. I hope things get better along the semester.
She seems like a nice person, but wow. Clearly does not have any idea how to run an online class. Her quizzes were write in your own answer but were graded electronically, so unless you wrote in, word-for-word, the exact answer the way she worded it, it was marked incorrect. No guidance about how she wanted it worded beforehand either.
States ZAPS was necessary. 3 months in, it's not. You can take the class without purchasing ZAPS. It's just to "further our understanding." Just get the pdf of the textbook. Workload is excessive and unnecessary. Takes forever to reply to emails, which is not ideal for an online class. Better to contact her by attending office hours.
assigns a TON of work. as a person, she is lovely. as a professor.. not so much. doesn't respond to emails and assigns 6-12 hrs of work for ONE class. No clear instructions on most things & class is loaded with quizzes and homework that require a lot of reading. Lab is structured the same. Dont take unless you have PLENTY and i mean PLENTY of time.
Nice as a person, awful as a professor. Complete nightmare of a class to take, had to drop for to sake of my own sanity. Very confusing tests and assignments, hours worth of homework every week, and by the time she answered emails days later, I had new problems. In office hours she really tries to help, but it was just too much stress for one class
Took winter session psych and law, super easy A as long as you do the work. All of the answers are easy to find in the textbook and even though it was a 3 week class I did not feel overwhelmed. 3 exams, 3 quizzes, and a paper plus a few activities. Highly recommend!
I honestly loved this class but her tests are multiple choice and essay answer. I passed everything with flying colors except the essay questions because I never had enough time to complete them.
I would highly suggest you look for another professor! She does not teach you! She assigns like 6-12 hours a week of work and its all readings. There is no ppt or lectures just readings, quizzes and exams. The final is proctorio which records you. This class is so hard because you teach yourself. So if you cant do it then dont take her.
This class is extremely dense and time consuming. The professor gives an insane amount of reading to do every week- you are basically teaching yourself everything from the book - there is no additional feedback or materials to help you learn other than from reading it from the text book. Way too ridiculous for a 300 level course.
All they did was reupload PPTs and work from OTHERS, rarely would see their own work. They would provide estimate amount of hours needed to complete each reading and they were so off! Not to mention they give 4-8 quizzes (5-10 ?s each) due at a time and exams are over 50+ questions. Do not take them unless you are prepared to teach yourself.
This professor cares for each student and shows that she is passionate about this class but, she expects you to reserve minimum 6 hours (max 12 hours) of your week dedicated to this class. Just hope that your discord server makes a decent study guide and if not then well I wouldn't recommend this class if you are working full-time. Good luck.
Quizzes every week; pretty hard, be ready to read. Does not use her own lectures; she uploaded someone else's lectures and her modules were a mess. Links to videos never worked & she was an awful communicator. The class was not engaging at all. 1 paper; 3 exams No extra credit. Be prepared to learn this course entirely from the book.
No. Just don't take her. You will work so hard on the written exams just for her to accuse you of plagiarizing, EVEN WHEN YOU CITE and when you bring it up to her, she lowers your test grades because she's offended. She also doesn't leave feedback and is never satisfied with the hard work put in. She's the worst professor I have had here so far.
She was the worst professor I've taken during my undergraduate. The exams are broken up into essay and multiple-choice ; both are timed and she doesn't allow enough time to complete them. She is also very unclear about her expectations and when she asks you to cite empirical evidence, she will tell you that you plagiarized. Be cautious with her
Took her online course during winter. Her modules were all over the place and not organized. Requires you to cite evidence in your essay exams, but then claims it is plagiarized even when you note the researcher. Posts basic information, but you have to read the book to know what you are being taught since she doesn't clarify much in her modules.
Do yourself a favor and take someone else. Canvas course was a mess and hard to navigate. The workload is unreasonable and she doesn't give clear expectations for assignments. The course was interesting but I wish I took someone else. Probably the worst professor I've ever taken.
JUST DON'T! SO disappointed I took her course. She was not helpful, used arbitrary guidelines to grade essay exams, and it took her forever to grade assingments. Didn't provide helpful feedback and was unprofessional in her interactions with students. Never worked so hard with such little return.
In addition to heavy reading, the amount of work required was serious. She posts several videos, shows, and journals on top of several chapters per week: 3 exams, part multiple choice and part essay, 3 quizzes, weekly assignments, and 1 paper. She is a harsh grader even when you put a lot of effort into your exams. I'd take someone else.
She's a tough grader and doesn't give feedback when she marks you down on exams. Course work was interesting but the amount of work was overkill. make sure you really study for the essay portion of the exam and be careful how you cite your sources cuz she calls people out for plagiarism on exams.
Would absolutely NOT recommend. I shouldve listened to Rate My Professor the first time. Her class structure is disorganized and lecture heavy, with her straying from the topic multiple times. Her exams are tough, and you really need to read to understand anything.
I recommend 4 students who are able to study & engage w. material regularly. It is a major course so it is held to that standard. Dr. IBG is extremely knowledgeable on what she teaches and she will provide feedback if you ask. She is very supportive of her students. 5 + quizzes, 2 exams, and a writing assignment.
I think you need to work hard, but will learn a lot!
I would stay away from this class if you were taking it online. The structure is very disorganized. You teach yourself all the material. She offers no help explaining the material and hardly ever responds to emails.
Be prepared to log in to the course website every week. If you read, do the activities, and engage with the materail you will do fine. There are quizzes to prepare fro larger exams. Attend office hours for help.
Dr. IBG knows a lot about the topics. You must attend lecture and read the book. You will learn a lot.
Unless you are an excellent test taker I would stay away. It takes her a while to grade assignments but will not accept any late work from students compared to other professors who are understanding of students' circumstances. Told us not to stress out and be anxious but how could we not when paying for a class as hard as this one and failing?
I liked this class. I wish I had more time. Tough concepts at times.
Just keep up with the work. If you keep up it not be that hard. You have to take tests in person. Take as many quizzes as possible to study before the test.
Difficult for a 2 credit class.
I do not recommend this online class if you need guidance. This class is a read the textbook and learn on your own kind of class, no lectures either. I am a straight A student and got a B- in this class which is not like me due to the fact that this class is taught by yourself. She is available for office hours, but I felt lost in this class.
All there is, is inquizatives as assignments which make it easy to get a 10/10 on it. A couple of quizzes same with exams. Easy questions, very nice professor. I took her in the winter.
Sooooooo disorganized. If you love having a very disorganized system then DO NOT TAKE HER. she's very condescending, never reads her emails, the only way to reach her is her TA. She made up different times for her 3rd exam and lied about it. She never told students about the makeup exam because she never got back to us on canvas email.
If you are taking online I hope you know this class is just inquizitives that leave you teaching yourself. This professor is horrible offline. During the in person exams she will be so distracting and create an unwelcoming space. She is loud cannot sit still as we take our exams. She will also belittle you for making a mistake like forgetting CWID.
This professor doesn't care whatsoever about her students or their success in the class. If you need to reach out to her be prepared to be ignored or responded to passive aggressively. She doesn't contribute to the class. She left during the first in person exam and didn't stop talking and laughing during the second. I don't recommend taking her.
Dr. IBG is very knowledgeable and caring; however, her class is unorganized. The canvas page was so overwhelmed with information that things become hard to find. Be prepared for awkward silence if no one answers her in class question during lecture. Its a 2 unit class with 4 lab reports, a presentation, multiple quizzes, and class work.
For our first exam, the professor left and had the TA run everything. During the second exam, she stayed but talked and made it hard to focus. She rarely responded to emails, and when she did, her tone was often condescending and passive-aggressive. Grading took forever. Overall, not a supportive or respectful learning environment.
Super fast pace, a lot of reading, and heavy topics. I am used to deal with that, but what I did not appreciate was that there was no support at all. No lectures, just all the directions on Canvas and fast curve quizzes and exams. The worst part ... the professor seemed obsessed with students cheating in the class. No encouragement at all.
There is a lot of learning to do. My advice is to attend office hours to clarify anything confusing in text. There are two in-person exams and one optional exam to replace a low grade exam. The material assigned is different from what is found online. I think that is good. I learned a few new things.
great class! need to attend.
Dr. IBG was a very sweet lady for the most part. She gives a manageable amount of inquizitives and readings. The hardest part were the 2 in-person exams. You just have to really study and keep up with the material.
