Her class is not that easy. She teach really detaily, so if your major is relate to math, take this class, but if you need just good grade for G.E. Don't take it. Test is not that hard, but she checks every answers with aranged steps

She is a sweet woman...her class is not that difficult, if you take notes, listen in class, and study the practice tests you'll do fine...she will help you if you have a question...but if you don't then it's your fault for not understanding.
Some people like her because she's sweet and friendly and tries to make jokes. Others don't because she seems to get confused especially when she is teaching. Go to her class the first day of class and see if you like her. For people who struggle with math, you might get confused. Warning.
Magee is sometimes so preoccupied in getting the right answer to a math problem, that she forgets to explain what she's doing. Other times she's not sure how to solve problems or teaches it wrong. But she's a nice person and if she reviewed the material/book more she'd make a good teacher.
The worst teacher ever, I had tough teacher and passed, , she puts all the easy examples on the boards, which she can't even do the problem right and put hard questions on the exam. I passed all her exam no problem, but what about the students who don't know. She should just teacher basic math. C-
Never seen a class where the teacher teaches to teach advance math on the board, prepares for the exam with in class assignment, projects and group project, A very unique math class which involve teaching method, but sometimes not clear on the subject, but prepare you for upcomming events, B-
she is very nice. and can be helpful if you ask her to help you.
She puts easy examples on the board and saves all the hard ones for homework and the test. The group review for the test always have easier problems than those on the test.

she is hard.. wouldn't recommend her...the problems on the tests aren't even half as easy as the ones on the hw and examples she gives. you get confused and don't understand how to do anything...the tests can don't have many problems but are hard...and consist of like 3 chapters worth of stuff.. if you can find better go with another.
Very nice and helpful. Actually I find her ways effective. Humans are bound for error, even great mathematicians, so don't blame her for that. It is up to us, as her students, to trully excel in what we do. For her tests I find it fair, do not expect to be spoon-fed all the time for in that way we would not learn. god bless!
This teacher has no idea about the subject area she tries to teach. She made so many mistakes while putting up examples on the board, that the whole class was confused all the time. On here tests, she asks much more than she covered during lectures. Math was my favorite subject since like first grade, and then I took her class...Do not recommend!
She just shouldn't be teaching math. Makes a lot of mistakes on the board, confuses all her students. Bad teacher. Lowest I've ever gotten in math was a B. I did all her work and did good on tests and she gave me a D. Unfair and confusing. Don't take her. You're regret it.

i don't know why people fail her class. She is a great teacher. Although, she makes common mistakes. She still knows how the problem goes. People who fail her class doesn't pay attention at all. Try sitting in front, open your text book and participate in class. You'll see how great she is. I like Mrs. Magee. She's sweet ang patient.
It's good that professors push you into another level but this woman doesn't know how to do it. She is very estrict and picky and you could get annoyed by her personality. I do not recommend to take any class I don't even know why she's still there.
I recommend this teacher only to people who want to fail math class, if you not one of those people then stay away from her.

She doesn't make sense. If you are not passing the test go to the pi shop for help and of course finish your hours. Do all your homework assignments including the online ones. Make sure you get perfect scores on all your assignments. You can fail almost every test and still pass the class if you have good scores and turn in your assignments.
Very nice and understanding. You must study very hard to pass the class. She is very helpful. She wants her students to perform well.
math should be about the ability to do the work, not the ability to memorize information/formulas. she fails to realize this. most people will forget the stuff anyways, so why make an already tough subject more insufferable? She uses no commonsense at all in her approach of teaching the subject. therefore, if not a math major,avoid her by all cost.
Don't take her class. She doesn't know math, she makes a lot of mistakes, she doesn't know how to explain, she will not teach you anything. Easy to pass though, because she has group reviews that you do before the test, and they are identical to tests. But if you want to learn something and move to the next level with good knowledge, don't take her
Cannot teach at all, makes so many mistakes ad makes no sense what so ever. Difficult to understand her teaching the only reason i passes was cause i studied on my own and the Mathxl is very helpful, if u want to learn and pass easily dont take her math is hard enough and she makes it even harder
She isn't clear in her lectures, but after doing all the homework on MathXL and the work in class, it's easy to catch on. You just have to tune her out when she's lecturing, because that's when it gets confusing. If you feel confident teaching yourself math, then you should take her. Otherwise, you might want to reconsider
this is byfar one of the worst math teachers I've had. I took this class with another professor and got a B. How is it that I'm actually forgetting the info while attending her class and failing miserably now? Very confusing and picky. she doesn't grade based on substance

lectures are useless.grades with a vengence.very picky.you must teach yourself.if you're not a math whiz then be prepared for a low grade.
Pre-calculus.Don't take her if ur not willing to study on your own, also if u have questions don't go and ask her u'll get more confuse. she takes a long time to explain a problem that only takes five minutes to explain. She tries to explain everything at the last minute and if she doesn't finish, she expects you to know it on the day of the test.

Usually when you ask professor a question you would expect an answer; however, don't expect an answer from this prof, cause she forgot math already and expects you to tell her the answer. Though if you use lots of color pencils then your work might slide as "A" and don't even think of the environment cause she wants every problem on a new page

She is by far the worst math prof I've ever had classes with. She has just skipped an entire week worth of lectures, went from chap 3.7 to 4.8, but expects us to still know the material she didn't bother to explain and do homework. She doesn't prepare for classes, doesn't care if you understand and obviously unwilling to teach. Bad, bad, bad!

It's been a long time, but I love Professor Magee ...she was always so supportive of my questions and interested in communicating with me. She is an ideal mathematics teacher...especially for someone like me who loves math, but was brainwashed into believing that I wasn't good at it...if it weren't for women such as this, I wouldn't be where I am!
I will be very honest with you guys. Professor Magee is doing her best. She is a good teacher. She helps those who want to help themselves. Go to class, do your homework, take good notes and you will do well in the class. she is good
Mrs. Magee is just one the very few top best teachers I ever had. She makes math a lot more interesting (just look closer :). For those who didn't get A or at least a B in her class, the only one to blame it on it's yourself. Remember it requires hardworking and determination.
Do not take her if you want to learn math. She should retire. She forgets alot and thinks she went over material with you and did not. She confuses her other Math classes with her current...basically unsure which math level she is teaching. This class really should have been an online course, because you learn nothing from her...Dont Take Her!!!!!!
Professor Magee is very helpful and will ALWAYS answer students' questions. This class requires a tremendous amount of work. If you do online homework, problems at the end of the chapter, and group reviews before the exams, you will be just fine. If you are not ready to invest at least 1 hour a day for this class, do not even take it. Good luck
She JUST started teaching calculus this semester. If you think she is horrible at remembering precal, well be prepared if you decide taking her for calc, which she says she hasnt taken in i think over 10 years?! she forgets everything, i almost feel sorry for her but then again I dont because at the end its ME suffering the low grade!
I took her class and wow what a let down, i was a A/B student before her class, i had taken math 114-260 with an A or B in each(A in 260 pre cal) I thought i wasnt doing the work but i was, accused me being a slacker never missed a day.Told me i had a 0 in my hand outs even though i turned in everything(i made copies) AVOID

Professor Magee is not a good math professor. She often seems confused with what math class she is teaching, and something would forget what she left off from the last class. Doesn't seem very interested in teaching math anymore. I wouldn't recommend taking her class!
This teacher is very unhelpful, and truly don't care about her students! Avoid this teacher!
She's a great professor, she does make minor mistakes, but later she corrects them. Attendence is mandatory. Tests are ok, if you need help or have a question she helps you. If you want an esasy teacher where you can just earn an A or B or don't have to do a lot of homework, don't take her class. If you really want to learn, then take her class.
I'm so disappointed with this professor! As much as I attended class every session, turned in my homework I failed! She some how lost my assignments! She is one confused person and should no longer be teaching Math! Simply avoid this professor!
Avoid Professor Iris Magee. She has personal issues that prevent her from being an effective teacher, and she has no interests in teaching any kind of math any more. She confuses math subjects constantly, is always late to class, appears very tired, and frankly, she looks like life in general, is just too much for her. AVOID HER.
I think that Professor Magee is well-intentioned in how and what she teaches, but she appears to lack the ability to communicate her ideas in a way that would allow everyone the opportunity to understand the lessons. She also attempts to teach multiple methods before the class has grasped the basics. If you already have her, use the Pi Shoppe.
Professor Magee makes to many mistakes while explaining on the blackboard. At the beggining of the problem she starts writing a problem on the blackboard, then she says "ohhh everybody makes mistakes" but whent it comes to the tests she doesn't have any consideration, her notes are confusing to follow and she expects on students to give step..
Professor Magee needs to retire. She frequently forgets what she is teaching, makes mistakes while writing on the board, and insist that she is correct about something when she is clearly not. She is a very nice person, but over all a terrible teacher. Warning: TONS of homework. Tests are rarely like the practice tests!
She definitely has the skills and tricks to math. The class were comfortable at her and she answers your questions. You will learn from her.
AMAZING PROFF..<33She is GREAT! Most of the work is done in MATH XL! So if you don't understand something and you can go home and still get helped by the computer. You have tests every week. I like tests because it helps me understand the material better and shows me were i need most help in.

Gets sidetracked a lot.
She is a bit strict but is a great teacher. I took her in the summer/math 115 and i passed with a C and i had like 3 fails out of 5 test.She gives extra credit and curves your grades also gives half credit just for trying. I loved her!! i would recommend her, i guarantee you would pass 125 with a breeze after taking her.
She is impatient and utterly unhelpful. At first I thought she was nice but strict. Now a few weeks into her class, everyone is confused and nobody wants to participate. She get tons of problems wrong every day in only an hour period. We are patient with her yet she refuses to show us the same consideration. She has no place teaching. Worst ever.
Mrs. Magee is a terrible professor. She is not very clear when teaching,doesn't help at all and is very impatient. She expects you to know everything already. Her class moves at a fast pace and it is easy to fall behind. She also forgets a lot of what she is teaching. whatever you do do not take her. You will not learn anything.
Worst professor I've ever had in my life. She does not teach at all. She's constantly sighing, and saying "I don't know." and "I'm not sure about that." She get's everything she writes on the board wrong and is constantly corrected by the students. I had to teach myself the entire course by using the horrible text book that every test relied on.
Uses MathXL for everthing. All the comments are true. In addition she does not give test back. Gives a review on MathXL but does not ask if anyone any questions. She just moves on. Think it time for her to retire.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! During the summer semester, we started off with 46 students and ended with only 7!!! She does not know how to teach, and she leaves a lot of homework on mathXL. I received 85-100% on homework assignments and quizzes and my grade would not go up. Each assignment made my grade go up only .1% AVOID!!!
Professor Magee should not be teaching math or any other class anymore. She is too old to be teaching and she often goes back to her notes. Sometimes, students know more about the subject she's teaching. She has the audacity to say that she doesn't take students Friday (office hours) because she goes to her house located in the big bear area.
Is the worst teacher ever. Doesn't review for test and she doesn't help at all when asked for help. When she is teaching, she writes the problem wrong and the students have to keep correcting her. Most of the time she confuses the students because she is doing it wrong. Don't ever take her.
This is the only professor I have felt the need to rate. She is terrible. She shows up late to class unprepared and tries to keep us behind some days. She seems just as confused as everyone else in the class during the lesson, and barely makes herself available for extra help during office hours. I would learn more from Coco the gorilla. Just sayin

She would be doing a problem and then in the middle of i, she would erase it and then, start the whole problem again! she does everything on the computer and many times she doesn't know how to go about it.... I wish I would of came to this website before. Because I would have not taken her class. All the comments here are pretty accurate. She makes a lot of mistakes during lectures. Tests are completely different from hw and quizzes which sucks. Her office hours are terrible. Don't recommend this class to anyone!!
In professor Magee's class you might as well teach yourself through math xl. It appeared as she were annoyed when people asked questions & did not explain problems well. If you so happen to take her class, be sure to take advantage of her partial credit points after exams.
I would Never recommend this teacher if you need this class for your degrees. I like her as a person BUT She gives way too much homework on a subject she barely covered, 30 problems or more. it took me 2-3 days to do because I had to watch all the videos on MatXL to understand. This should be considered on online class. AVOID. She doesn't teach!!
Horrible teacher. Nearing the end of class there were about 7 students left. In order to pass this class you must buy My Math Lab from Pearson. She was usually late, came to class rushing and apologizing. Great person and will hear you out. at the end of class. Ask her questions during class and she will "Tsk" out loud. Do not take her.
All i can say about miss Magee is the she is really confusing teacher, explains things differently than math XL and her extra credit does not help so much. She spend her time talking about her grand children and she is always late to classes. i would have never recommend her at all. i got an F and 90 % of the class failed and only 7 passed theclass
Has her own personal issues that you will also have to deal with along the way. Gives unnecessary amount of homework. Gets lost and confused in the middle of lecture. Doesn't know how to teach problems on the test, can barely do them herself. Most students will drop the class, don't waste your time signing up.
Worst professor I have EVER had. She often makes mistakes when she's working on a problem and to make it worse she tends to move quickly and not explain thoroughly how to solve the problem. I would ask her to explain more carefully and she would repeat exactly what she had said. Class had 40 people at the start, by the end there were 7, I dropped.
I used to HATEEEE Math, but now, I love it. I have my math 125 with Mis Magee and she is great. I am starting to love math after 15 years, being away from math. She is very good with points and she is teaches perfectly and helps you a lot if you have any problems in your math skills.
She can make mistakes so beware. I wasn't expecting anything at all since it's my first semester in the US. Maybe I found it OK to deal with her because I already have a background for this subj. One of the worst math professors at LACC, do not take her she does not explain problems in detail she is all over the place and very confusing I drop the class her lecturing style was very confusing.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! She is the FIRST bad experience with a professor since I've been at LACC. She gets wrong answers often, consistently skips steps, doesn't care to explain unless you stop her mid way, otherwise she'll move on to the next problem, half the class was constantly confused and frustrated. I am currently in Mrs. Magee's Algebra 124B class. The one piece of advice I can give you is, DO NOT TAKE HER. She's somewhat of a nice lady, but her teaching is horrible. She is disorganized, lazy, forgets the material, and relies on the text book. Half the time she forgets what she's doing on the board. She should really retire. Absolutely horrid
Oh Mrs. Magee... she is an absolute sweetheart but if you're not proficient in math-I wouldn't recommend her. I REALLY struggled through her class. She doesn't explain concepts clearly, and chooses difficult problems for tests and quizzes. I had to teach myself. She does give xtra credit opportunities, but unless you're a math whiz, steer clear!!!
My original professor was switched with Magee, she gets lost when asked a question midway through her lecture, she forgets what questions she is going over in the textbook.
Shes very sweet and caring. She takes attendance seriously and drops students. If your not good at math then I wouldnt recommend because she moves on pretty quick her test are easy so are her homeworks
Ms. Magee is a sweetheart. I enjoyed having her as a professor. I personally hate math but her class wasnt terrible. You get a lot of group work and you use the book (and access code) a lot. She definitely does forget things so you have to remind her. Give her a chance. I would take her again

Mrs. Magee is amazing, she is the reason that I love math again. Before her I was struggling with math and now I understand alot better. She gave me hope again. She cares about her students and will answer any question you have. she does take the time to help you if you ask. She teaches in a slow pace so that helps alot to process the material.
Currently taking math125 and all I can say is Do Not take her. Like others have said, she gets distracted way too often and makes mistakes while going over problems all the time. Needless to say, if youre student trying to learn a new concept this just completely throws you off! She moves extremely fast and she rushes through sections like crazy.

This professor is awful. She rushes the chapters and will be mad at the class for being behind when she's VERY forgetful and does a very poor job giving lectures. This is by far one of the worst professors I have ever had, she literally has dementia because she OFTEN forgets what problem she's on and often messes up on solving the solution.
