This class was a piece of cake. Granted there are assignements and quizes that need to be done once a week, if you read the text, you'll do fine. Also, the exams are based off the quizes, and the other half in the text...Easy class!!!
This was an on-line class, but if you take Malendevych, go see her in person. She is HOT!
She is a great teacher, I would take another class with her. She is great about offering extra credit and the homework is not bad.
She was a horrible teacher. I didn't learn anything and got a C in the class because of a group project - where we had to meet up with our group in person. Oh, I forgot to mention it was an ONLINE COURSE. She doesn't know what she's doing.
Had her for corrections. For one she is not hot, she is not totally ugly either, just not hot.She speaks too low to be heard and reads off of PP slides. She is boring. She is from russia so you have to get over her accent, which isnt too bad. Test questions come from her online quizes.I just dont like her,she is boring n not helpful,Lots of extra cred
A very dry and hard to understand professor. She has a huge and i mean HUGE tendency to say UMM in her lecture. It contributes to about 90% of her lecture. Her test are ok and from quizzes. She flies through her notes, expects you to read the book/chapter prior to class and doesnt like to wait for slow note takers.
Easy class, 3 tests and drops the lowest one, also a final and a group project or paper. Must be in class for the pop quizzes but its kind of boring cause you can't understand her at times and she says umm alot but she is really nice and all you have to do is DO THE QUIZZES online and study those for the tests and you will get an A in the class.
I had her for 2 online courses over the summer. I would recommend her. She doesn't give too much work and is reasonable in her grading. Her tests are straight forward. My only complaint are those stupid crossword puzzles she makes you do that don't make any sense. Friendly and answers all questions and is willing to help.
very straight forward teacher. if you study the material that she posts under her "terms to know and review" you'll do fine. at first i started reading the text then it became too much so i stopped. her assignments are challenging but nothing to stress over. if you do the work the way she wants it you'll do great, responds to emails quickly, take her
She is straight forward, but does ot want to help when you ask questions. Answers emails very short and not very helpful. I do not think I would retake her. She needs to be fair with helping her students as she is with simply making tests easy.
Online Class very easy if you do all the work which isnt that much just weekly modules including postings and quizzes then 3 exams. All her online classes are the same, you just earn points and add them up to a pretty Easy A.
Tests are easy got an A on all test however got a C in the class missed 2 discussions 10 points each and it dropped grade. Teacher is okay but dont miss any assignments or discussions because it will hurt your grade dramatically. Also, quizzes every week and you do not know what the correct answer is if you got it wrong.
She is the best! Took her online for Corrections and Penology. Very organized. Learned a lot. No B.S. straight forward class. I walked away with a better knowledge of the C.J. system (specifically corrections) She seems really intellectual. If you are a C.J. major or minor: TAKE HER! My favorite professor yet! I also heard she is HOT
I thought this class was going to be easy but I had trouble finding the answers in the book even after I read the material. I think that she did not even take into consideration how big her workload is. I think it is unfair to have 15 minute quizzes over 3 chapters. I expect a B (my 5 other classes this summer I expect all A's & they're harder)
This class was very challenging. Summer/online course with 2 exams. The first exam was really tricky. I read the text and I really don't think the cross word puzzles help prepare you for the tests.
i took this class online. it's somewhat easy if you do her pre-exam workups (X-word, matching). 2nd half I didn't even read. I just did the exercises. she is not helpful and rude if you have a problem. she has no business teaching an online class b/c she doesnt understand the dynamics of computer issues.
Very tough!! She requires way to much reading and assignments each week! Her quizes and exams are very hard! She asks very specific and tricky questions! Also, she does not even come close to allowing enough time to complete tests. She made the class inappropriately difficult.
Will fail you over 1 point. Even graduating seniors -- well at least formerly graduating.
She's a great professor. And yes people stop complaining this is not middle school. She's teaching the way she should be-lecturing. Tests were a bit hard but hey they're supposed to challenge us and see what we learned. Would definitely take this professor again.
AMAZING Teacher. Online course. She is VERY fair and a very good grader. She listens to your comments. The book was used a lot (we got through it all) but I like it when that happens. Her course was informative, and the work was tough but not impossible by any stretch. CJ Major/Minors, take her!
Wow she is awful. The worst instructor ever. No help, rude and condescending. Tons of work and reading. She offers no assistance and expects the world. I have never experienced such a terrible instuctor. I got a B+ in the class but this was my first B and this is my second degree. Those who can't do, teach! She has an opinion on everything.
Allow the student to work ahead of the the rest if they desire or dare, but be advised that your work must meet her exacting standards. She will not tolerate sloppy work, or ill drawn conclusions.
Taken her twice. She really cares about student feedback. First time in Corrections and Penology struggled to meet her standards for writing assignments, but she gave great feedback and by the end of the semester I got the hang of it. Always challenging her students and using all the available resources to teach.
Professor IM is very informative and understanding. The course is not easy but if you do your part you will past the class with no problem.Do not wait until you have missed an assignment to talk to her.If you do things right and don't try to cut corners you will have success.GREAT professor! One of the best UCF has to offer!I HIGHLY recommend her!
Great professor! Took class online, yes it was challenging but what's important is that you actually learn the material. She provides great feedback. For people that are complaining she's too tough: It's a college level class what did you expect?
I'm taking this class online now. I don't plan on going into the CJ field but I actually like this class. Her syllabus is clear, and she gives plenty of time to complete assignments. Also gives us good feedback and resources. I would recommend her class.
Professor IM is very informative. She brings lots of cool and helpful information to the table; do your part you will past the class with no problem. If you do things right and study all she gives you to study, you will have success. GREAT professor! Highly Recommended!!!
She is very nice. Tells you exactly what she expects of you. Only downside, there is only a midterm and a final. She does give chances for extra credit ex: jail tour. She knows what she is talking about.
Took her online and she was VERY organized and extremely nice. Wants her students to do well. She made everything easy to understand. One of the best professors I've had for online! :)
Amazing teacher! Online class reads all chapters of the book but she gives you plenty of time to read. Exams come straight from the book word for word. Taking her again for Summer B and Fall!
Took online, easy A if you read and complete assignments. Extremely helpful, really cares about students. Answers questions promptly, with courtesy, and goes above and beyond to help. Straightforward course structure. Do the work, you'll be fine!
Wonderful professor. Took over summer. Clear expectations. Do the work and you will get an A. Allowed 2 attempts for exams, highest score of 2 counts. Can't say enough good things. Great professor and amazing person!
Either take good notes or read the text book and you should easily get a B or higher.
She tries to make learning fun. She tries to entertain the class with how she teaches with her accent. You will have to study for your exams. She breaks in the exams down by a few chapters and not so much to cram. But otherwise, she is a great teacher and I'm looking to take more classes with her in the future.
If you want good grades, DO NOT take this class. Also, she is always trying to drag students to any kind of event around. however it doesnt change the final grade whether you go or not. She talks so much about those runnings events that I went to one just to meet a sport woman, but guys, if you have that in mind, just stay at home.
Has an accent, but she's completely understandable. Course was interesting because of guest speakers and field trips. 2 tests, resume, online interview, and group project. None of which were difficult.
Not entirely clear on expectations for assignments. Asked questions, expected certain topics to be covered but didn't specify. Grading reflected. Allowed 2 attempts on quizzes but if the 2nd attend was lower than the 1st - you're stuck. No point to take it a 2nd time?? She does care about her students, but not the easiest class. Good Luck.
Best professor ever!! Very helpful and nice!! Have had three classes with her and would recommend her! As long as you do your work you will get a good grade!!
She is a great professor. I have taken her for two online courses. Her expectations are clear and concise. She gives you a ton of material to help you along the way and she is very fair. She cares about her students!
Decent class. But the professor takes weeks to get back to you on grades and emails. It like your teaching yourself. Unclear on assignment instructions and doesn't like to explain them much more than she listed on webcourses. Won't be taking her class again.
Extremely hard grader. She isn't clear on expectations for modules or essays and then writes nasty responses while giving you a 5/20. She grades based on opinions and if yours is different then hers you will fail. She takes forever to grade assignments and takes a while to respond to messages. Don't take her class!
The absolute worst professor i have taken thus far. Takes OVER three weeks to give back grades and provide feedback. Does not respond quickly to emails. Is not helpful, and responds in an undermining tone. Took this class online and hated it! Although I earned a B in this course, I worked my butt off, and would never recommend her to anyone!
Great Professor, EASY A..... gives you the option to do a simple 1820 assignment or a tab bit tougher 2020 assignment. Assignments are due monthly; requires one group project :( Hardly any exams but the exams are massive and cover well over a dozen chapters (not in book order). You must study for this course.
I honestly love her. Took her for careers in CJ and she took us to agencies and invited guest speakers. The work you do in this class will never be pointless and will always be something you can take with you out of the class environment like a resume and interview experience. Very interested in getting her students hired!
Class is laid out very well. Bi-weekly modules with one discussion, assignment and quiz with 2 attempts. 3 Exams all information comes from book, so you have to read it.
She's mean and not inconsiderate. Missed one assignment wouldn't allow a makeup so I failed the class.
She is helpful, responds quickly to you. Makes you do a group project, for an online class is ridiculous. Study guides are 4 pages long for 40 qst test. It's a lot of material. She expects a lot from her students and is meticulous about EVERYTHING! She gave me points off bc I said something that SOUNDED like it was pulled from the internet. Wtf...
I have taken this professor a few times online. I happen to like her and have always earned a good grade. However, grammar is sometimes hard to understand and the study guides for the tests are insane and ridiculously long! Overall, good instructor though.
compared to my other criminal justice classes she gives way way too much work. Be prepared to be bombarded with reading and studying.
Compared to my other criminal justice classes and online classes. She gives a lot of work, does not work with you, does not help you if system messes up like other professors. Is not out for the best interest of the student. I would not recommend her
Professor IM is the best! She is very clear with her assignments, her exams are easy and she likes students feedback. She is funny and hip. She is also available on the weekends if you are stuck on an assignment. Very helpful and wants you to succeed. You will not be disappointed if you take professor IM online or on campus.
Always getting things wrong. Doesn't give good feedback and is always very short with students. Not clear of what she wants in her syllabus and won't answer your questions about it. Her tests are through proctor hub and the questions are very tricky and confusing and get low averages. Wouldn't recommend her at all.
Didn't make the class as interesting as one would hope. Class was centered more on "how to write a resume" and "how to apply for an internship" instead of CAREERS in criminal justice. Two guest speakers from different federal agencies did make up for this. However, I wouldn't take the class if you're indecisive on what you want to do w/ a CJ major
Outstanding professor. Get ready to learn.
It was a good class. I did not like that she records you taking your tests. There's a test every week and three exams. You NEED your book. Everything from the quizzes and tests come from the book. You must read every single word of the chapter.
Not clear about grading and requirements. If you ask a question she has no clue about what your talking about.
Class is resume writing and career planning. Why is this format acceptable? Little to no information and assignments about various careers relstive to the field.
Careers 3001 was a joke of a class, she required attendance but never took attendance. No test or quizzes all semester, some homework which are long but very simple and straight forward. lectures are boring but it is worth it because easy A and good teacher that wants the best for her students.
I would most definitely take her class again. I took her class online during the summer term. The class consisted of one writing assignment and 3 exams. I learned but did not feel like I was overwhelmed with work :D She was very kind and answered my emails quickly.
Very challenging coursework. Textbooks are required. Wording of test questions are very misleading. Grading scale is very limited, only 20 total points on exams that have well over 20 questions. I was looking forward to this class but I ended up hating this class and the coursework. Correct/incorrect answers are hidden on quizzes.
If you do the all the assignments and follow the rubric, you should be able to get an A in the class. She gives a good amount of time to do each assignment(2weeks atleast). Also, the assignments are very simple, they are generally a self reflection of yourself and life plans/goals. It is great way and course to learn about yourself.
You definitely have a lot of work but she gives plenty of time to complete it. You have to be disciplined to not fall behind since there aren't weekly assignments due. Great professor. I've taken two other courses with her.
Not many assignments so each one counts. I never quite understood why I got certain scores on discussion posts that met all of the criteria. Be sure to read the textbook chapters. Use Quizlet to study for quizzes and exams. Not a hard course at all. Take advantage of extra credit.
Online class, really easy, and you need the textbook. You have 6 Modules within those modules are discussion post which you have to reply back to 2 students post (which her TA grades) and a quiz with 10 questions. There's 3 exams with 40 questions. Really easy if you read the chapters in the textbook!
Doesn't give extremely clear directions. even for being an online class very confusing and way too many things to watch extra for this class. If you want to watch a bunch of movies and hope you can remember the information this your class then.
The professor barley gives work so you can bring up your grade . She take to much points off and if you grade is 70.5 she wont even bother to give you that one point . Shes not helped at all she doesnt care .
The class its self is easy but the professor and TA dont care if you submit an assignment in the wrong folder or even simply if you a submit an assignment 60 seconds after the due date due to technical difficulties. All in all a horrible class would of skipped it if I could but I needed to graduate. And I had a 79.2 and stilled ended with a C+.
One of my first classes I've taken at UCF and it was an easy class because its based on you. Its a career class so you have to do an interview on yourself, create a resume, cover letter, figure out what you want to be but it benefits you. She gives you plenty of time to complete your assignments. She gave me great feedback and I have an A
honestly this class was not hard as long as you did your work. there were plenty of times where i would just write anything and turn it in and would get full credit or above a c at best. the work to me seemed pointless and i wouldnt have taken this class if i didnt need to. during covid-19 she really turned soft and let us pass with anything.
The professor actually cared for her students & posted lots of inspirational & useful information. The class requires a lot of assignments but most are easy. There is no extra credit so if u miss an assignment ur grade will not be coming up.
She seems to care about her subject and her students. There are many assignments but none of them are difficult. Youll leave this class with an E portfolio and a resume. If you follow assignment guidelines youll get full credit, if you miss a few points there are several opportunities for extra credit.
Such a wonderful professor! Gives few assignments but they are actually useful like creating a resume and making a LinkedIn. Super nice and communicates quickly! 10/10 take her!
This class has a massive group project and if you're not ready to take a whole semester for one project, don't bother. The professor is very hands-on and loves to communicate with the class. She's very caring and if you even have a simple question she emails back within a few hours. Class was overall easy besides the group project.
I took her Human Trafficking class and she is very strict on grading. The textbook used was great and I learned a lot. Besides the book assignments, there are other module assignments as well. You are going to stay busy in this class. I was not fond of the group project as our class and another class was merged and the instructions were confusing.
Took for elective. The group project was new, so I had no idea. This is a mess. Not a lot of work otherwise, but there is some. Had I known about the intensive group project for 15 whole points, I would have run far away! It is a lot of work for 15 points, and then follow-up work on the work you did. It was exhausting and stressful. Time-consuming
Read the reviews before I took her class honestly the reviews are false I pass with an A she was amazing!! lots of work but I did everything on time PASS WITH FLYING COLORS!! REALLY EASY A !
If i could give Professor Malendevych 10 stars i would. First semester, one to remember. All the work was posted and if you needed help all you have to do is email her and she responds within a day. There was one book that the recommended and it was for you to understand more. She gives great feedback. Strongly recommend her. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
very great class. she allows you to take each exam with multiple attempts and posts practice tests that are very similar to the real thing. lots of room for error and learning. powerpoints can be lengthy but the rather easy exams make up for it. powerpoints are not overbearing and the information is easy to digest and remember; textbook helps
This class isn't even close to hard this is one of the classes that if you fail you didn't put in effort, as each assignment took about less than an hour only
Personally the professor herself is nice, but the course is a little much to be considered an elective. I had more work to do in this class that I have for any of my core classes. Also, the group project is very time consuming.
Easy class but not at all lenient or understanding. Does not care about students. Would not take again.
Easy A. Super caring and always willing to talk. She definitely cares about her students. There are very few assignments. Your grade is comprised of 3 tests and a short writing assignment. Would definitely take again
Very easy class. Just take it! lol. Your grade is based on 4 quizzes and one "project assignment" which was easy.
Only three exams, they weren't open note, they were proctored, and they were on six chapters. So little room to mess up. She made multiple scheduling errors and when students reached out to her, she avoided us and said "look at the schedule". She didn't even follow her schedule. Instead of taking suggestions, she posted "ted talks" on memorization.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Seriously trust me on this one. Tests are over 6 Chapters! You cannot use notes or book when taking since its lockdown and webcam. Not helpful at all when given feedback she asks for, does not provide adequate study material. Asked the class for someone to add her into our student group chat. Worst teacher i have taken at UCF.
Six chapters per exam (three total), proctored, no study guide provided so you are on your own to study. Three chapters every other week with extensive homework assignments. I would not recommend this professor for ANY course she teaches as I am a straight A student and barely skated by with a B.
Class is really easy but be prepared to teach yourself. Prof is very very kind and caring, she responds quick and seems to really care about her students. Class is done through Sage advantage which is one of the better platforms I've used for online classes. I'm taking another class with her in fall and I'm excited!
Professor Iryna Malendevych she is wonderful took her my first semester of UCF, She prepares you for careers in criminal justice, assignments are not hard, create an account for LinkedIn, a e-portfolio at the end of the semester which you get to show case your work. Nothing major and she gives a lot of examples how she wants the work done.
She wasn't bad, I could tell she cared because she wanted us to eagerly give feedback on what she can do better. My issue with this course was that the practice quizzes and the readings did not prepare you for the exam, a lot of the time I would find 95% of the exam to be things I never read or studied. The exams weigh heavy and they're cam proc'd.
This was the first class I had ever taken with Professor Malendevych and she was great. My only complaint which I expressed to her is there are so few assignments if you tank on 1 you risk dropping an entire letter grade. She is caring and does work with you if you have a legitimate reason and I would definitely take her again.
Worst Professor I've had at ucf. She has a terrible grading system where she will put points in periodically for assignments as the semester goes by. So up until half way through the semester EVERYONE was sitting on D's and F's as their overall grades. She gives no examples of how she wants things done for assignments but will grade harshly.
DO NOT TAKE HER! There are three exams, each over six chapters and even if you read the textbook which is where most of the assignments come from you will not do well. She would periodically put in points over the semester so at some times most students had D's or F's. She was also pretty rude when trying to ask for help or clarify things.
The class is decent, but the exams can be challenging. Attendance is mandatory, and the textbook is used. unstuck ai was helpful for exam prep alongside other study tools.
Honesty, this professor is not my favorite. Her class was super unorganized, and her grading style was never consistent. There was a big project in the middle of the semester that was locked until the week before it was due, so if you have a life outside of school, I would not take her.
there were 4 discussions, 4 applications and 4 proc'd exams. I would not take her again. her exams were unnecessarily difficult and no matter how much you study, her material will be very different from the exams. She did have extra credit but not worth much. If there's another professor for this class, take them.
Honestly, I was zoned out this entire class and still passed with an A. Just do the work and you'll be fine. She's also very quick to answer any questions you might have.
This was by far one of the worst classes I have taken at UCF. She never opens up assignment's on time and expect us to get it done in a short period of time. Her study guide is nothing compared to the proctored exams we had. I would not even bother taking this course if she's teaching it.
Very nice and kind lady, she runs her class to make it feel like an in person classroom when we are online, she likes to know what her students are doing outside of class and most grades are based off participation and effort, very good class and easy A as long as you read the textbook, however it is very content heavy chapters.
