SUPER BORING! Show up for class and he'll be happy...his exams SUCK!
Awesome guy, very interesting
Very helpful and knowledgeable but a little opinionated.
hard to understand, bad english/grammar on tests.
Very funny and interesting teacher. Always has an opinion about what the class is learning about, but is not biased when grading if you disagree. Very fair.
This course was very interesting and Issac always has stories. The tests were sort of hard because in class we had more discussion than actual book work.
very cool and calm teacher. He treats everyone with respect and he always has an opinion to share!
Very interesting teacher. He brings many expereinces to share with students. He treats students with utmost respect and rewards hard work.
It takes a while to get used to him and understand him, but he gives extra credit, is funny, and very helpful
Cant understand him. Test grammar needs some serious work, the test questions dont make much sense & he offers no explanation so they are difficult. He often changes his mind w/out telling the class and doesnt follow the syllabus. As a whole:do the work, & do it on time, work hard, and do the the extra credit (he offers a lot) and youll be set.
I took his class online. He followed the syllabus and answered any questions very promptly. He gave extra credit. There was a lot of papers due probably because it was online. I would recommend him to others. I really do not know about him as a face to face instructor but I did not have any problems understanding his test questions. I got a 4.0
I was bored out of my mind! I adore the social sciences but he was so elementary about it so I didnt feel challeneged. Furthermore he has papers due so frequently and the worst part is that they are only worth the SMALLEST fraction of your grade. He is a VERY nice person, I would recommend him for those with NO prior knowledge of social science.
This guy is the worst human ever!
Isaac takes what he is doing very seriously and has a passion about the social sciences that will touch anyone who takes his course. Uses relevant (sometimes funny) stories and discussion relating to the topic that are interesting to and provide the student with a complete understanding of the idea and concept. Great teacher. A+
Very opinionated. Asks for your opinion during class disscussion but is not open to other viewpoints at all.Laughs at you if you have a different opinion than him.Tests are difficult and confussing.he tests you on what he thinks and does not always agree with the book. Can't understand what he says and is really rude.Dont recommend taking his class
This guy was kind of a jerk, and after you got used to finally understanding his speech things became easier. Make sure you do all of your assignments. Tests are on the harder side, so read your book too.
Isaac isn't the easiest teacher and yea he has an accent, but he's very fair. I think you all need to open your eyes to what a good professor actually means. The kids in our class were rude. I'd laugh at you too. He makes you do your best, but is still easy on grading. If you want to sleep thru class with an easy teacher, go back to 4th grade kids.
He knows his stuff.
Anyone who feels addai is hard for socl 120 is probably retarded, write a few pages on how you feel for homework. Make 2 presentations and....present them. Tests usually have 10-20 pts of extra credit. He is a bit hard to understand but since he repeats himself 30 times so everyone gets it.....its not a big deal........
Instructor is at times difficult to understand, yet he is very helpful and knowledgable on the subject. I would recommend him for this class.
I would recommend finding another instructior for this course. This is my least favorite professor of all time!
I love issac!!!! he is the best teacher ever! i was afraid at first b/c i couldnt understand him but he is so funny and totally awesome i wish i could take another class with him!
Very hard to understand - difficult tests and exams. Moderate amount of assignements, some extra credit. You can't skip his classes and intend to pass. Goes off on tangents often, usually about Black Studies. Not recommended, I wouldn't take him again unless it WAS for Black Studies. Fair. Not the worst or best Professor. Average.
an awful teacher. doesn't give a crap about what his students thinks. not open minded and really doesn't care about anyone but himself, meaning he doesn't care about his students at all!!
he is 100% for himself will not help you anyway. he will drop you in the first week if he thinks you fail. just don't take him
I would recommend a different teacher for this class. He will have you franticly taking notes and on some of his assignments/papers he's not very clear on what he wants. He is a really nice guy and does know what he's talking about, but I think the class would be easier if it were taught by someone else.
I read the rest of these comments before I took him and though most of them are kinda harsh, I took him anyway and I'm glad I did. This is my second time taking it, getting a 1.0 the first time because my teacher was a dumbass, right now, with 2 weeks left I have a 3.5. He gives you so many opportunities to do well in his class that you'd be dumb n
Great! The only thing to do to pass is to clearly restate the questions he gives you and then answer it with the term from the book for the assignments. SO EASY! Barely read the book, and I got a 3.5
Isaac was difficult to understand at first, but after the first week or so you get used to the accent. He is fair and his exams were fairly easy. He gave plenty of extra credit. Before each exam he gives you an assignment where you have to define sociology terms and give examples, which was easy points if you put the time in. Overall a good prof.
I've never given a tough review of a professor before, as I think that LCC has a good amount of quality teachers. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH ADDAI. The course was online, and ever request for assistance was dismissed with five word sentences that were unclear and didn't offer any help. I wouldn't take this guy again and strongly suggest no one do
He is easy grading.
I love this prof he is the best teacher I have ever had. He makes class fun and he is hilarious. Tons of extra credit and the class is easy. He does hav a little accent but I could understand him just fine. And I have a hrd time with accents. He Has my reccomendation
HE HAS A VERY HEAVY ACCENT AND DOESN'T ADHERE TO THE SYLLABUS SO IF YOU WANT TO PASS YOU BETTER ATTEND!!!!NO NEED TO ASK QUESTIONS OUTSIDE OF CLASS YOU WON'T GET AN ANSWER. hE HAS 4 INTENSE ASSIGNMENTS ONE BEFORE EACH OF HIS RATHER DIFFICULT EXAMS BUT IF YOU DO THEM SERIOUSLY YOU WILL LEARN A LOT
I'm taking his online classes, which I don't recommend only because it would be WAAAYY more interesting in person. He is VERY hard to understand and when he types it can be VERY hard to read. But Dr. Addai is extremely willing to help and will guide you FIRMLY but tactfully. He wants nothing more than for you to succeed which is nice 10/10!
good teacher had alot of fun. not the best student but got a 3.0 with out trying to hard. stopped taking attendance half way through the year. accent but nothing thats hard to understand. lots of papers due but nothing that takes much time. wish i could have him again
Took him online so he may be different in person. by far the worst online class I've ever taken. Syllabus is not up to date and does not match up with actual course. inconsistent grading and usually does not respond to questions. If he does respond, he refers you to the useless syllabus. Avoid this instructor!!
He is a good professor with a strong accent but you can work passed that. Works from the book but not in the class. Death By power Point. Will work with you but you must attend. I approve this PROF.
Here's the gist. You do the homework, you get a 4.0 in the class. The guy doesn't check papers besides seeing that you covered all the points, and his tests are all multiple choice. He has a heavy accent, but you get used to it. His class is easy, sociology is a joke and the class reflects it. Easy 4.0 to any motivated student.
He does have an accent but it's easy to understand as long as you are paying attention. Be sure to print off the power points that will help a lot. Tests are all multiple choice. Aissignments are not to difficult. The ones before the tests are a little long but easy. Only take him if you want to sit in class for two horus bored out of your mind.
Hard to understand, and teaches by power point.
The work itself is not challenging, just time consuming. Took him on-line, and the work involved in his class was more than all my other three combined. Far too much work for one class, but the choice is yours.
As long as you do the work you will do fine. I pretty much failed most of his test and still got a 4.0. Do the work and show up for class and that's all. The assignments before the tests are time consuming but easy. He could explain things a little more. Nice guy, focuses a little to much on black issues other than that he is an average teacher.
I thought this was a very interesting class. Dr. Addai is good at relaying the material, and all powerpoints used in class are available online. The tests are multiple choice and all material covered in class, not necessarily from the textbook. Assignments are time consuming, but easy enough. Recommend this instructor for this class.
This professor is from Ghana and can be hard to understand sometimes because of his accent and how he words things. That said, his lectures were usually engaging and very thorough. Don't buy the book "Essentials of Sociology" - his power points are all on Angle. There is another small book however that you should either buy (it's cheap) or borrow.
Do not take him online. Most assignments are due on the weekend. We actually had an paper due over the 4th of July weekend that we couldn't start until July 1st and the college was closed this weekend. His emails and messages are broken English. Find another teacher.
he was very organized online and the way he set up the assignments made it so you knew what was going to be due every week.
I took this online, and it was very well structured. The text you read is all very interesting, but expect to write lots of reports. I had no problem with this class as long as you stay on top of the due dates.
I took this class online and this professor is horrible. He doesn't help with anything. If you have questions he tells you to refer to the syllabus which says nothing. Online his folders are a mess. Has 10+ folders and you only use two or three. The assignments are easy but every long! Each assignment much be 3 to 4 pages long. Go with a diff prof.
I took his lecture class and he is awesome. He is sometimes difficult to understand because of his accent but he makes sure everyone is clear on understanding him. As long as you do the homework you'll be fine, he even gave us a take home exam. He is great on relating the material to life situations making the class interesting & fun. GREAT TEACHER
Prepared you well for tests and assignments. He was hard to understand at times, but explained himself and subject matter.
He was an awesome professor. Although a little hard to understand at first, you got used to his pretty heavy accent. He relates things back to concepts you can understand. He also has a lot of hours available in his office to help you if you don't understand. Not a lot of work in the class, either.
Great teacher. Prepares you well for tests and goes over everything in class. If you attend and go over class notes that he gives the class is easy. He is just a little hard to understand in the beginning but an excellant teacher.
Professor Addai seems to be a smart man, but he is not a good teacher. He is not patient and when I asked for any help, he acted as though I was stupid or lazy. I took his online class and he had no office hours listed. I would not recommend that anyone take his class. Find another instructor.
Professor Addai seems to be an intelligent man, but he is not a good teacher. He's neither patient nor helpful. I took his class online and every time I asked a question or for help, all he would respond with was "refer to the syllabus." The course work was a lot but doable - the problem lies within his teaching ability. I wouldn't recommend him.
English is difficult to understand but he is very knowledgeable on this subject. He is funny too which makes class go by quicker. He will let you out 20-30 min early. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will miss extra credit opportunities which he gives 2-3 times the semester. He is overall a good teacher.
Dr. Addai is a very nice man. However, my biggest problem was that he would not allow students to follow along in the textbook during his lectures, yet he would allow them to use their laptops. I tried telling him following along in the book was how I learned, but he remained insensitive to my learning style. Also, he never returned my emails.
Spring 2013- professor was unprepared & lazy. Used old assignments that the new edition of the text did not cover and would not admit to it until the last assignment/test. Very frustrating for a class that I was excited about taking to be such a pain.
Class was easy pretty much. You just have to make sure you do the homework which is really long assignments that I don't think he read. Other than the looooong assignments, the class was easy.
Addai made the class easy for student who weren't complete slackers. He made the class somewhat interesting during class discussion, however, he tended to be kind of a jerk. Also, he never even read any of the long assignment his students were assigned, just saw that they were done and gave them the points. Otherwise, not too bad.
I took this class because my husband said it was easy. I don't agree, the assignments took a lot of time. However, the discussions were interesting and the tests were open book online (but still difficult). I would have liked lighter assignments.
i thought he was very easy going and friendly he gave me very good grades i got 100% on everything except for my test i think he mostly just want you to try and as long as you do your work then your good there was a lot of ready which i didn't ever really read my book but i still did very well.
Great job. Kept class fun. Just be creative with your homework and don't answer with one word answers and you will do fine.
Dr. Addai was fantastic. Funny, knowledgeable, interesting, taught the class very well. Textbook will help especially on tests, workload is more than manageable, and I had him during summer classes, so Fall and Spring are even easier. I would take any class by him again.
Get ready for notes, but every single thing he says is helpful.
Issac made sociology approachable. If you show up to class, pay attention to the lectures and take notes, you'll be fine. There are tons of extra credit opportunities too. If you spit back to him what you've copied in your notes (definitions and examples), you'll do well on the assignments that double as text reviews.
he is one of the best teacher that i had. he is so funny; and explain every thing very well. if you want to enjoy sociology 120 and pass it with good grade don't miss his class.
Did not get one test back after taking exams.... his spelling is terrible on exams and makes them harder to understand what he is saying. If you can independently work on your own take the class, I got an A but his replies sometimes to emails and questions.
I aced the class, but it takes a lot of work and don't expect feedback. He is not helpful through emails and is kind of rude when you ask questions. His tests can be confusing considering his spelling is off. The assignments take forever due to some of the questions you have to google because they aren't in the book. Worst online class I ever had.
Dr. Isaac is great professor, funny, precise, clear on the point. Expect to do a lot of work but his class is the most enjoyable class you can ever take. He is very willing to help and knows his subject beyond reasonable doubt.
Lectures every single class, you either have to take great notes or read the book and ask a lot of questions to pass. His lectures aren't at all boring though. His accent can be hard to understand sometimes.
I really enjoyed his class, although it was hard to understand him at first, you get used to it. While his lectures are long he only spends time on the information you actually need to know. He is also pretty clear in all assignments and in lectures what you need to do and know. He was also pretty funny and spoke his mind often.
Made sociology down-to-earth and relatable , attendance is key and so is participation in class discussions. Loved having him, very interesting guy
I took SOCL 255 online. He seems like a good person, although his English is not the great. It is hard to understand what he wants sometimes, and also if you ask a question. It takes him a couple times to understand what you are saying. Be very clear. What I taught myself in the class was interesting and if you actually do the work you will do fine
Professor Addai made Sociology so easy and enjoyable for all students. Gives tons of extra credit homework, so should have no problem passing his class. He is always looking for ways to help students in and out of class. I loved every single minute of his class and i always looked forward to his class, especially when I was bored. I recommend him.
I took Addai's sociology class my freshman year of college. He was funny and made the class very interesting. I would definitely recommend him to anyone taking sociology. Notes are on power points all ready for you to write down, the assignments and papers take up a lot of time but makes taking the exams easy for a 4.0
I would not recommend! His instructions are extremely complicated & difficult to understand. There were times that I emailed him to clarify something in the syllabus & he responded rudely & basically told me I needed to re-read the syllabus. There is ALOT of reading & work that is assigned all at once & cumulative so you're unable to work ahead.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR AN ONLINE COURSE! He assigns multiple time consuming things that are due within a couple days of each other. It seems that all of the assignments and exams include topics not yet covered & when you ask him, he tells you to read ahead if you want points. Also is very bad at responding & answering questions via email. Terrible.
He's a little hard to understand because of his accent, Also very scattered notes. And lectures the WHOLE class time. I had a 4 hour class with him he talked the whole time. I think i had 1 class assignment. He jumps from back and fourth subject to subject leaving you confused. And your notes a mess. Barely able to find anything you need to study.
He is a little hard to understand sometimes due to his accent although he was a great teacher for my class. His whole class is a lecture and you take notes on his power points. He really tries to entertain his students and make his material retable with everyone's lives. The only advice someone really needs is to show up, take notes.
Loved this class. It was extremely interesting. Prof. Addai made the class very fun. It was a very easy class. I would recommend this class to anyone (:
last semester i had class with him. the thing is ,students have no permission to talking to each other so there is nobody talks to each other by the my first day to the my last day. also when i have a question he told me to reread syllabus by yourself which is not helpful. not including unclear assignments and no participation in class.
Isaac makes this class interesting and fun. I took this course over the summer so it was a 4 hour lecture twice a week. But his lectures were organized and clear. His tests are not hard if you read the book and listen to his lectures. He is not very understanding and kind of rude when you absolutely have to miss a class.
I took him twice, the first time I took him was for SOC120 and that class was okay so I thought it would be good to take him for an online class. Biggest mistake ever, he is rude, piles work on you, doesn't respond to emails, he grades hard. He gives you several assignments and tests and in a short time limit, he is a horrible online teacher!
He says a bunch of dumb things, such as saying people can't lose their jobs on false rape accusations. He's hard to understand, as he's from Ghana, but he'll let you record his lectures if you ask, so that's nice. My advice: Beware.
Professor Isaac was easy going throughout the semester. He gives a lot of assignments, but grades easy as long as you do the work or his instructions. The only thing that I did not enjoy in this class were all the tests, which seemed to be a constant struggle to keep up with.
Isaac's class was extremely easy and one of the only classes I enjoyed showing up to. You don't need to read, but it helps in the class. The best part about that is he has the text book, PP, and assignments online. The examples he gives in class stick because they're personable. Con: He has bad handwriting. Which he knows so, he doesn't write much.
Easy grader, which is good, but I also did not learn anything. His D2L is unorganized, hard to understand what's happening at any given time. Don't take if you can avoid it.
Do not take ANY online courses with him. His layout makes no sense and is difficult to follow. I frequently got 0s bc he doesn't allow late work and i had no idea what was due. His syllabus is different than the due dates on the assignments and does not respond to emails for WEEKS. Some assignments he doesnt include rubrics and refuses to elaborate
I love Professor Addai. Pay attention, stay off your phone, do your homework, and you will be fine. He tells great stories, which are quite the plus. Also gives an interesting and fresh perspective on American Sociology, as hes an immigrant. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Super easy to talk to and really helpful. He is always available outside of class and he covers all the material really well so you are prepared for tests (I'm an average student and I found them quite easy) and always has extra credit options.
Do not take this class with him online! His d2l is the most confusing thing I've ever seen, every type of assignment (quiz, test, assignment, discussion) is under different, not clearly defined tabs. Nothing is under content except the online reading and discussions. There is no set schedule provided. He will not accept ANY late work.
great teacher, he really wants his students to succeed. attend his class and you would pass.
I do understand the negative reviews she has because she/he is a tough grader. However, here is my stance, No matter how opposite you are from a professor, they need to be treated with respect, from Odyssey Online criticizing how some students roast professors. Just as Psalm 1, Proverbs, Micah 6:8, Isaiah 53, Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 13, Scripture.
He was very hard to get in touch with, had to follow up on emails a few times and even then he did not respond to the full original email. He was very gracious with grading, I got pretty much all 100's in assignments. Most of his testing material is pretty straightforward, but questions are worded weirdly as he's foreign and not great with English
not a great professor . took forever to answer email and d2l was hardly ever correct or updated . was a decent grader through
Amazing teacher. He has a lot of patience and his lectures are hardly boring.
Solid professor. Teaches material thoroughly and actually dedicates class time to studying for exams! No complaints here :)
