This professor is helpful, does give extra-credit, and is a nice person.
He is some with an atitude. He will promise something up front but destroy you behind your back. He gives not in the class and exams are 75% from the note 25% from the text book. I will recomend Dr. Remsan over him
He is someone will say one thing and will do the opsite on the exam. You have to study the book really hard to get atleast B in his course. Fisrt exam is every thing from the class note because that is right before the withdral period.
Not really that hard. Good guy I tell ya...
I agree with what the other person said about his exams, u need to study extremely hard with the textbook. Nothing gone over class actually really appear on the tests.
He appears to be very nice at first, but later on when you get to know this guy more, you would know the truth is probably just the opposite. He does not seem to be well prepared for his classes, especially the labs; he just let the students do whatever he feels like is convenient for him.
Don't take any class with this guy if you have choice. You have to over study and overdo your reports to get a fair grade in his class.
He is the worst biology professor at City Tech.
He teaches biology but he does not know the material. If you ask him a question most of the time he would give you the wrong answer. He gets his lecture material directly from the publisher. He would tell you that 90% of the test is based on lecture DO NOT BELIEVE HIM! The only part he asks you from lecture is the Latin meaning of bio vocabulary.
Simply the worst of the worst! Don't understand why City Tech hires this kind of person as a professor. This guy only cares about his idiot research and he would make up the exam one hour before he gives it to us; most of the questions are not based on his lecture at all.
He explains everything in the class but his exams are hard
He brings very good examples to explain the material. I strongly recommend him.
He is one of the best professors I ever had. He explains the material in a way that students understand it. I strongly recommend him to anyone how is determined to learn.
Watch out he does not know basic biology. His test has nothing to do with the lecture. He Emphasizes latin in a Bio class. For example capillary in latin means hair. Power point presentation is the norm in his class. 3/4 of the semester he does not write anything on the board because he does not know Biology.
Very Helpful......
I agree he does not know biology and his test are hard.
He doesn't know simply biology,His test are hard, be prepared to see a lot of slides, he just reads these slides until he gets to the human anatomy part of the course which is when he finally starts to teach and write stuff in the board. Students that are not seriously about readind and studying stayaway, be prepared to learn latin. stay away.
The best professor if you do study
I was happy with the professor, I would recommend him, but your should read the book and material, I do admit that the exams are hard
HARD TESTS, boring class, knowledge of bio is dubious at best.
Nice Professor.
when you take his class be prepared to look at a lot of slides. He does not write on the black board unless you complain. His tests are hard. When u evaluate him during the semester, he will stay in the class while u fill out the forms as well as collect the forms to take them to the office. He will not give u back your exams. u have to study.
For me it works very well, and I love the idea that he has all his lectures on the web and blackboard
He has all his lectures on the web that makes it easy. So far he is a great help to all in the class. We had no exam eyt so lets see, but at this point I strongly recomend him
Very interesting and very well organized
I have never had a well organized professor like him. He makes a very dif. subject seem easy by using common life examples
He realy made this course interesting
Best professor, I strongly recomend him
I really hated science, untill i had biology with barjis. He made a hard subject for me understandable and easier. excellent professor
very good professor. he will not let u go untill u do understand the subject
This dude deserves a medal for his efforts, don't listen to plp who tell you otherwise, all you have to do is read his notes and PowerPoint presentation and ask questions if u dont understand, I didn't even buy the book and still got a very good grade(Lab with Selvadurai brought me down). Take NO1 BUT him, HE IS THE MAN!! I hated BIO B4 taking him.
He is understanding and helps you do well not just get by, with a grade in the class. He wants you to really learn something for the class.
The worst Biology professor who does not know Biology. Run away if you see his name as with this Dude you will not learn anything!
He will make you learn the subject, he will help you learn the subject, but if you show no interest in learning and reading do not select him
I found him very helpful. He wants you to pass the course with a good grade if you are serious and want to study
I don't know what the poster below is talking about, but I hate bio, but this professor made me get as best grade as I could in such a class. His 201 class was part online/part in class. So you come in every other week. Some online tests. I currently have a 58 average with a 15% test left. I probably wouldn't have passed without him.
I had Barjis for both biology 1 & 2, he's a great teacher. Although he can talk for hours, one does not need to pay attention. All the answersl are in his lecture outline in the website he reccommends you to enter at the beginning of the semester. Just study the manual and you will do well. I am going to take him again in Spring 2007 for BY301.
He's a wonderful, witty, educated, caring, superb Professor. You really learn so much from him and he's generous with grades if he sees that you are trying your best. If you don't ask stupid questions, I don't see why you can't get an A in his class.
Very helpful. If you are interested in learning he will give you all the help, but his exams are not easy.
Very helpful and clear in his lectures
He is such a nice prof. very helpfull wants students to learn, lectures are very clear and the most important thing is that he is very generous, smart and does know his stuff, educated. always there to help the students quizes are really helpful. Overall his teaching is effective and easy A if you willing to come to the class and pass the exams
This professor knows his materials. He teaches using slide shows and post all lessons on blackboard which allows more time for students to concentrate on the lecture. He also give quizzes on blackboard which I find is useful to test your understanding of the chapter
Before I took his class I truly hated biology. I scored C's and D's in classes before him. This professor kept my attention and I actually enjoyed learning. He links the curriculum with things that we see everyday. He recaps at the beginning of class and summaries at the end. He is the best. I would highly recommend him.
Good professor, explains everything well, but his tests are really hard. Basically everything comes from the handouts that he gives out, but you REALLY have to know every word that is on those handouts to do good on the test. If you want an easy A, this is not your professor.

he's not that bad.. most of the time u just need to read a lot... like all other science classes u are required to read the text.. if you're looking for an easy A then don't take him!!
Very helpful and knows his lectures. You have to do the reading and take the exams, quizzes and do the homework. Not an easy ?A?, but if you need to get ?A? ask him and study and if you do not understand any part of his lectures, ask him and he will make crystal clear so you could understand it
although I hated this professor with a passion, his material got me through the course with a A-
Awesome professor! very understanding and lots of fun. He is hard and his take home quiz are a killer. Just work with your classmates and you should be fine.
At first I wasn't a big fan: he was very serious and made his quizzes sound like they'd kill you no matter how much you studied. But in reality, as the semester went on, he grew on me. He has the most adorable accent and he is very helpful when you have questions. And he gives a review sheet for each quiz. Study these meticulously for an A.
Fantastic teacher (A&PII). Be prepared to study very hard and to really learn everything - not just memorize. He provides slides, lecture notes and practice test questions which are all helpful. He teaches in a very organized manner, making it easier to take notes and to understand the material.
He gives a lot of work but fair grader
Compared to every other bio professors I've had, he is the easiest. His quizzes and tests are straight from the notes he gives and he makes the subject more understandable. If you pay attention and read and write the notes he gives, then you pass.
He's an excellent professor. Will thoroughly go over material until you understand. This class is not a cake walk. But you Will walk away knowing your stuff. I had Chakraborty for AP1. But I learned more in and enjoyed Barjis' class much more. Got an A ;)
This prof is no walk in the park. The quizzes are pretty intense and you must study his slides and notes carefully. The tests are fair but you must study a lot as well. The class is doable but you must put in a lot of time in order to do well. This is not an easy A type of class. I would take another professor for this course if possible.
Agree w/ sum posting.U must be prepared b4 u go to lab esp if u r taking a higher bio class. He expects u to know what u will b doing in lab & read lab book b/c he won't give concise details. Gives review notes & questions 4 each lab but you need the lab book & his notes in order to answer to them.Exams are based on what u do in lab & his notes.
He is an amazing teacher. I am no fan of science ..took a condensed thrree week summer course prepared to fail but he gave me a new found interest in science. He will make sure you understand everything and give great real life examples to help you understand. Pay attention to his lectures.if you cooperate with him hell cooperate with you
Had no interest in Biology prior to taking his class. Best professor ever if you are willing to learn. He is no joke, you have to work really hard but you will learn alot from him.
He is really a good prof. a bit strict but he is funny in my opinion and I learned a lot in my first class of AP 1 he sometimes sit on the computer and let you review by youself BUTTT lol so far he is a good teacher. Take him if you are willing to put effort ! ;)
He is a great professor. I love the way he lectures, because he will stop and explain something if the class doesn't understand. His class is easy if you come and he gives review on blackboard and also goes though questions in class. I would recommend him to anyone.
He gave handouts that were to the point. Multiple choice exams
I tool professor Barjis for Nutrition, He knows his stuff and gives great lectures that you will clearly understand and actually learn! His exams are a bit tough I had a hard time with them however he is very understanding and tries to help his students I will take him for Patho for sure
took this professor by recommendation from a friend, I'm letting you know that I do not regret my choice! He is very patient with his students, explains the topic in every example possible until we the students fully understand what he is teaching, his is extremely organized, and makes you feel comfortable in his class. I highly recommend him!!!!
nutrition is a pretty interesting online class, basically he gives 3 exams. just participate on online discussions and answer 2 questions from each chapter of the wiki questions on blackboard. To study read the power point slides and answer all questions from the wiki questions on blackboard. all the exams are online, final is in school.
Well don't think nutrition is an easy class just because it's a 2 credits class. The professor is knowledgeable but you need to make your own efforts. Do Read the book and study the questions. You will learn something.
took him for pathophysiology and Nutrition and he realy knows how to give good examples to explain the material. Do the stop and review questions and study those for the tests and youll do good in his test. .
He is helpful
He handed out review questions for each section of reading & his exams were based mostly off of those. He also gives lecture notes which help with the studying. There were 2 online exams & the final was in person. He is open to help. The weekly online work is ridiculous, tedious nonsense, but if you suffer through it, it helps your grade.
I took pathophysiology fully online. Professor Barjis is very clear on grading system. Since class was fully online there's a short quiz every week and 4 online (at home) exams. His exams are based on review questions he provides, so in my opinion it's not too hard to get an A. I would take him again.
Exams mostly from review sheets, but he throws in few curve ball questions or opinion or best answer ... which will almost certainly drop u a grade or two .. otherwise decent prof . Online test are not easy because it's extremely time limited ... so open book won't help .high study effort for good grade
Great Professor. Intelligent person, very clear.... he knows his stuff. Study from the slides on blackboard ... his notes are irrelevant for the most part. Do his reviews.
I took this professor for my nutrition class. It was hybrid class. Most of the time he gave us online exams, but final we took in class. He isn't hard , I wish i could take him again!!! All you need is to study slides and deal with wiki. All tests based on it. Take him,you wont regret i guarantee!
I tool this professor for A&P I, He knows his stuff and gives great lectures that you will clearly understand and actually learn! His exams and quizzes are a bit tough I had a hard time with them however he is very understanding and tries to help his students I will take him again for sure
Literally he is an easy A. He gives you clear criteria and all you have to do is do it on time. No joke, take him if you want an A.
I took both summer courses for Anatomy 1 and Anatomy 2 and they would be considered to be one of the easiest classes in my own college. His tests are very straightforward and he is extremely nice and caring. I wish I have him for all my classes.
He gives a clear grading criteria, listen to him and do as he says and you'll be fine. He breaks things down and you can ask him questions. Extremely smart and don't be intimated by him, he just wants to make sure everyone knows the material.
If online classes is ur thing then go for it. I just enjoy the classroom experience more. As the previous reviewers pointed out, his assignments on blackboard can be tedious but I guess that is what u get from an online class. Make sure to follow his instructions in a timely manner and u will score high. Though, his exams can be tricky so watch out
His tests are exactly 70-80% from his review questions, and 20-30% outside knowledge like the textbook. His lecture notes help but if you want an A just read the textbook and then answer review questions find what you got wrong and understand it.
Had him for A&P1 now in A&P2. Best professor in CUNY period. very great lecturer, tells you exactly how you need to study to get an A, B, or god-forbid a C or below. Very detailed, great at demonstrations, great at explaining, very charming, well-spoken and highly intelligent. I learn so much in his class. He truly is a noble professor.
I took him as a Nutrition professor in a hybrid course. Half online half in school. He does make sure everyone understands and encourages anyone who didn't understand to make him repeat. He is very helpful and has time outside of class for anyone who is having trouble. Exams are not the hardest nor is it the easiest. More on the hard side for me.
Hybrid class for AP2. After I realized how seriously I needed to take the class, I made it my mission to do the optional assignments. He is very clear with how he grades and in his lectures as well. I definitely would take him again. Everything he provides will 100% help you. Attendance isn't mandatory but his in class lectures and zoom def helps
Online course, he just gives us material to read, no teaching. He mentions he's accessible on Blackboard and email, but as soon as you write him an email he tells you to not write him any emails, and answers with an attitude when students ask questions on Blackboard. We dont really have a teacher for this course. Not for me.
He doesnt like being asked questions, he gets irritated and has a nasty attitude when answering. His slides are written in very basic English with many spelling errors, no conjunctions, It's boring. seems saturated of teaching.
Extremely well-structured class. Consists of participation, quizzes, and exams. Nothing else. It has always been remote but during covid he was accessible on phone and zoom. I really appreciate him and am super glad I took this 2 credit nutrition course!
I took this professor for Nutrition, He knows his stuff and gives great lectures that you will clearly understand and actually learn! His exams are a bit tough I had a hard time with them however he is very understanding and tries to help his students I will take him for Patho for sure
Great Professor. Intelligent person, very clear.... he knows his stuff. Study from the slides, lecture notes and review questions on blackboard ... his notes are. Do his reviews.
Great professor, intelligent, very helpful and understanding, but expects students to learn and be critical thinkers.
Hes a decent professor and will help if you dont understand .AP2 is a lot of material so try your best to learn and understand because it wont be easy. His exams are pretty fair . Not the worse but not too bad . Hes a fair professor . A lot of quizzes , and a lot of material in Class to touch up on . Goodluck .
Great professor! Barjis teaches well and really knows the subject. he is very smart. if he sees that you show interest, he will give you a good grade. I would take him again!
Dr. Barjis He is awesome, explained everything really well, I learned alot from him. This is one class I like going to, and I learned a lot from.
Your class notes and the slides he gives you good to go, if anything not clear refer to book or ask him, he is very helpful intelligent doctor of science. Deep thinker, probably the best professor, I will try to take whatever classes he teaches
would not take this professor again! For a 2 credit course so much.Discussion 4 each topic isnt toward ur grade just ur attendance we had to do 2 paragraph and reference. Quiz every Friday 10 question & 10 minute. Exam less than an hour long 3 exam in total 50 question.Every tab u click will be monitored when u take exam or quiz exam will close.
For a 2 credit course, he gives waaayyyy too much work. Made us write unnecessary paragraphs that wasn't even graded, quizzes every week, not that much time for exams or quizzes. Now usually if I have to work for my grade I saddle up and get the job done but he was overdoing it.
His class was hybrid but this professor took the time to explain the material to those who didn't understand. He is very knowledgeable and his grading criteria was clear. 9 quizzes which I found really easy and 3 exams. Each exam was 50 questions in 50 minutes. The only advice I can give for exams is to have your textbook near you you'll need it.
I had to drop him for my summer course. There is no reason why he should be assigning so much work for a 2 credit class and only one month. there is a discussion board every day and sometimes makes you watch videos and discuss out of nowhere. please stay away from him
Rude! Horrible.
Great professor, if you do not like to learn on your own this class might not be for you. online lectures was only for review he did not really teach a lesson so your basically on your own learning the material. he gave extra points to average out your grade . his exams were 80% from his review and 20 % knowledge from books and PowerPoints,
He is the most dedicated Professor I ever seen in my life! He is Professor from God! I high recommend to take him everyone who wants to know AP2 and have a good grade. He tests only on what he gives and he is always willing to explain any question that you might have! I would put him all the stars that can exist what his desire to teach students!
He is the best Bio Professor! His tests and exams only are based on what he teaches! If you study, you will have an A. Highly recommend him to everyone who needs nutrition or A&P1,2 classes. He always explains everything and he will answer all your questions. One of the best Professors I ever had in my college experience!
He was a really good professor. I had him for a summer course. We were on a time crunch but he gave every resource necessary in order to understand the material.
His classes you won't be able to be lazy. If you study you'll get a good grade though for sure. His lectures are really good since he explains things well. Sometimes he can be annoyed with lazy students but otherwise if he sees you putting in a normal amount of effort then he can be very nice. I would definitely take a class with him again.
Had him for the Summer S2. Definitely willing to explain something if you don't understand it. The lecture notes and slides were really valuable on exams. Studying really makes a difference for the exams. There were exams every week but he did his best to make sure we had the resources to do well. I would take his class again.
This is my first time taking a summer class and Prof Barjis helped make this experience a little less painful. Although the class was intense, he provided everything we needed to help us pass. Everything was based off his PP slides, review sheets, and lecture notes. Four exams, 12 online lec quizzes, 4 lab quizzes, and lab practical. Take him!
care about his student, hw counts as ten points extra for test
Very informative lecture. Tests are hard, but he provides the material needed to get a good grade in the class.
This class is not easy and professor barjis understands that. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. I truly appreciate how considerate and how much he tries to help the students
The professor is good, but I had a really hard time understanding the material, more on me than the professor. The professor does watch like a hawk on test days. However, two of the classmates who sat beside me, cheated by looking at the phone and he didn't even see a thing. It was rather ironic as he caught the kids in the back cheating.
Very hard class!! Do not take him as a professor he will embarrass you if you dont do good on a test . He rules his eyes at students .
I took A&P 2 over the summer and the class was hefty on reading. As long as you do the readings and review questions, the exams shouldn't be too difficult. If you're taking him over the summer, expect to spend 35+ hours a week studying. Prof. Barjis genuinely wants his students to pass and will try his best to help them improve their grades.
I took Professor Barjis during the summer for nutrition. The easiest class ever!!! All you have to do is reading his lecture notes and go over the review questions. Some review questions will be on the quiz/exam. 9 online quizzes and 3 online exams. Quizzes consists of 10 questions for 10 min. Exams are 50 questions for 50 min. Easy if you study!
I took him in spring 2024 Asynchronous. There were weekly lectures to read, 9 quizzes and 3 exams. Also every week he posts more than 100 questions and you choose one or two questions and answer them in discussion board. During exam and quizzes, you cant open a new browser, it would be a automatic zero. he knows when you cheat.
Professor Barjis is a pretty laid back professor. Read the lecture notes and review sheets and honestly most students should be able get a B or higher. Most of the exam questions are straight forward with some difficult questions that require some thinking but overall his exams are not too difficult.
Professor Barjis' class is no walk in the park, but if you engage with the materials, you can do well. The exams and quizzes are challenging, but manageable with consistent studying. Using Unstuck ai alongside your textbook and lecture notes can be a game-changer for exam prep.
Shows up late on exam days but will be rude to students who are late. Moves faster than his syllabus and does no real teaching himself. Exams are tough, 50 questions and cover so many topics. Weekly 10 question quiz that you have 10 minutes to complete with questions not even covered in any of his material. Do not take him.
Very caring but does not provide a structured lecture to help us digest the material instead ( at least online), students are essentially required to teach themselves. lecture consists of student asking random questions. He does provide a lot of extra material to help us succeed.
