Great teacher, very passionate, really cares about her students learning from Human Anatomy and Physiology. She's big on attendance and her biggest peeve are cellphones. She has a weekly quiz that's more like a test, but her style really helps you learn and pass the class. Tough subject, this teacher really does help. Highly recommend her.
She is a very nice person and goes above and beyond to help her students understand. She doesn't allow phones at all. She can be very difficult to understand at times and isn't always the best at describing information in detail. She rambles often and her lectures get lengthy/boring. Her study guides are complete copies of the tests. Which is cool.
Tough to understand at times, but very helpful. Strict. Worse than high school rules. But obviously cares very much about the students really learning the material. One of my favourite professors ever.
A very good teacher. I feel that I was able to learn and really understand the material. We were given great opportunities to do well in this class, so no one has an excuse for not doing well.
Can be rude, and says she cares about you learning the information but really doesn't can be really confusing especially with her thick accent.
Her accent and pronunciation can be problem at times. She is helpful if you ask but she is very strict and can be unpleasant. She does treat everyone like children but I think it comes from a good place, like she really wants you to learn the material. Don't take her class if you need an A. Pre-final, the highest grade in our section is a B.
She was very very helpful, especially like me who struggle the in her class. Although I stumbled all the time, she keeps us keeping on track and fought us to battle back. That is how she is. How I wish all the hard classes professors is like her. Giving chance to the deserving ones.
She is very helpful, she gave us chance to pass the class, although there are some who are stumbling. It might be hard, but it is only the way to learn. It doesn't matter how the accent was, but it is not her responsibility to study for us. That's why, if you want to learn, and be responsible, I would recommend her class.
This is an extremely difficult class & only those who study very hard will pass. Over half of her class dropped but aside from that she is a very passionate instructor. Sure her accent makes it hard to understand @ times but she goes far & beyond to help you. Her life story is so inspiring, she teaches you that anything is possible. She's awesome!
Dr. Ferraris provided all necessary material needed to obtain an A. She was always accessible and willing to assist you if you have any issues. Her material was clear, no hidden agendas. I wish she could teacher higher level science classes because of her helpfulness, knowledge and clarity in teaching.
It was a challenging class but well worth it. It is necessary to study a significant amount of time and attend class every day. If you make it till the end of the semester you will have a really good chance of passing the class. If you put in the time, effort Dr. Ferraris will help you pass the class.
Okay in the beginning her class is intimidating. You must take notes from her power points. I personally passed by miracle, if she gives study guides USE THEM. She can be rude and give attitude a lot. Study hard, biology never changes. I only passed because she was very ry helpful when it came to the Finals, she gave us all material needed.
Very good Teacher.
Dr. Ferraris is a jolly person with passion on teaching. I admit she's strict especially with the Lab exercises; however, her willingness to help the students really shows which made me succeed/pass the class. Although she has thick accent, I suggest to have more tutoring sessions with her; it's extremely helpful.
Good teacher. Knows her stuff and is very passionate. Wants students to pass, but can be extremely rude. Goes as far as telling students to drop, and telling them they are not going to make it. Says to ask for help, but, when asking for help she kind of makes you feel dumb about the questions you are asking. Notes/study guides very important!!!
This class is very difficult. The professor demands a lot from you, however if you follow her guidelines, accept her help and study, you will do good. She might not be your favorite teacher after this class for various reasons, however when it comes to the subject matter, she is passionate and will help anyway she can.
Class is very difficult especially if you haven't had the previous bio class . Dr. Ferraris is very passionate about teaching and she makes it very clear that in order to pass this class it requires certain amount of studying time and skills to accomplish learning and passing this class. She's tough but a great professor totally recommend her!
Dr. Ferraris has been a great help in achieving my goals because of her encouragement and wonderful teaching strategies. It was a very fruitful and productive semester of learning, a little bit tough and challenging. The inputs she have shared and taught were just so amazing. She cares for students by simply pushing them to strive and succeed.
She is really clear about what you need to pass the class. The class is very hard but if you are willing to put in the work and effort you will do good. Dr. Ferraris is a really helpful teacher and I am thankful that she is willing to help you if you have any questions. I would recommend her if you are willing to work hard.
Tough class but if you apply yourself and follow the professor's guidelines you will be fine. Get ready to study a lot, make your own notes and prepare for a test every week.
The hardest class I have ever taken but definitely the best teacher I have ever had. She's very clear on how she grades. Her lectures are awesome and she's very helpful in explaining things detail per detail.
Hard but a great teacher !
Very hard to understand due to thick accent but loves what she does and it is apparent in class. Very helpful, vibrant, motivated and kind.
She is very critical of students. If she feels that you don't belong in the class she will insist you drop until you do. She does seem passionate about teaching but treats students as if they should already know the material. Although I did well on the tests she still gave me a C.
She is very passionate about teaching and the success of her students She gives you the tools and techniques needed to strive and succeed. Students going into the medical field need that strong foundation in Biology 6. she is the Professor that will give you just that. Nothing in life comes easy U need to wk. WK and AMAZING PROF is SUCCESS
Though the information in the class was difficult, it was presented in an effective way. I enjoyed coming to class even though it was challenging. She grades exactly how she says in the syllabus and follows the provided schedule almost to a t.
Mrs. Ferraris is a great teacher! If it weren't for her helpfulness and supportencouragement through out the summer I wouldn't have passed. She gave the students tons of study guides review questions to go over that helped with the quizs and midterms. She wants us to succeed! The class is tough! But what can you expect... its Physiology!
The best teacher I ever had!!!!!!!!!!! The class I learned the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her knowledge is amazing and how she teaches has been incredible. Although she is tough I highly recommend her without hesitation
She is a great asset at Hartnell College. She is one of the most brilliant and and supportive instructor I ever had. Her art and sketch in the blackboard is superb. She is tough but fair. You must know material very well, but the knolwledge you'll get make your Physiology class way easier. She is awesome!!!!
I want to tell you that she was the best Biology teacher that I have had so far here at Hartnell. Taking her class gave me confidence and drive to fulfill anything I want. Also, her passion for Physiology and Anatomy, has inspired me to look at science in a new perspective. I learn in deepness from any single laboratory!!
Dr. Ferraris is a tough but fair instructor. She gives you all the tools necessary to succeed. She is passionate about Biology and it shows in the structure & detail in her lectures. She challenges you to do & be your best. I had her for anatomy & couldn't wait to take her physio class as well. Best instructor I've ever had! Wish more were like her
I have taken her for all my science classes at Hartnell College and she had been a great teacher! She may seem tuff but in the beginning but she truly loves her students. And tries to help you as best as she can.
she is a great teacher. I passed anatomy class w an A. you need to study but she will help you a lot. love her.
One of the best teachers I have ever had!
Great teacher she is firm but fair! She test weekly but if you use all materials then you will be ok! Make time to study!
She is absolutely amazing at physiology! She tries her very best to make the most complicated topics as simple as she can!! Study really hard and you will do great in the class. Physiology is not easy, but she's sure as hell good at it. She was meant to teach this class.
She is passionate about the subject and her way to present the topics are above and beyond what I expected. Her background and expertise are reflected in her lectures. Impeccable!!! I learnt in this class what I never could have imagined. My best teacher so far!!!!! If you are willing to study hard, she is highly recommended !!
Dr. Ferrari is a great instructor .. I really enjoyed her class very much.. Her lectures are great and I learned so much from her .she is great !
Great instructor !!!
She's a nice lady for the most part, but she tends to be argumentative with students and is somewhat egotistical as she always compares us to her 'nearly perfect' self. She has a thick Argentinean accent so biological terms are hard to understand, and her tests are worded oddly which makes it difficult to find the correct answer because of this.
Dr. Ferraris is a really great BIO. professor at Hartnell . The main reason is that she uses the PowerPoint only as a guide/outline and then she goes more into detail by talking about it, drawing diagrams, pictures, etc. and that's what makes learning the material more efficient. This class also requires dedication and commitment towards studying.
Gives 150 question review on Monday for a 10 question quiz on Tuesday. 400 question review on Tuesday for a 20 quest exam on Friday. Final test 2,850 quest review for a 150 quest test with only 1 1/2 days to study. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR UNLESS YOU HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY!
Great professor! Makes you work for your grade! Lectures really help learn the material if you pay attention and follow the drawing examples she uses.
Dr. Ferraris is an amazing professor I would definitely take her again. Makes you work for your grade but it's not too bad just pay attention during class and everything will be fine!
I took this class during the summer semester and although it was very tough and challenging, Mrs. Ferraris made it worth my while because of the amount of knowledge she has to share with her students! Some teachers out there are "dry" when they lecture, but Mrs. Ferraris is a gem! she engages her students, and wants them to do their best
This was undoubtedly a tough class, but Dr. Ferraris is very clear, concise, and helpful. She provides a ton of review questions for each chapter so you get a feel for the topics and type of questions she favors. The book is unnecessary, but the paired online questions are essential. Overall a great professor!
She is an amazing teacher, so passionate & full of energy, I recommend her 100%. She gives great examples of all lectures, & grades fairly. Gives review questions which are helpful for weekly quizzes & exams. She tought me that "You earn, what you work for" so Study, Study, take notes and don't give up. I worked hard for this grade! So can you ;))
I think this class is hard but the way that Dr. Ferraris explain the lectures, makes this class easier
She's a tough instructor, I do not recommend to take classes with her. She's a very bad instructor
Did not like how the class is run. Very intense it made me uncomfortable even being in class, dropped it as soon as I could
You can't talk to her about anything because she will attack you and tell you how bad of a student you are. 75% of students drop by mid semester. Don't waste your time. You've been warned ! ! Take Mrs field or mr. Edens instead they make more sense
Throw your textbook out the window. Yeah sure, you may read a fact in there, but this dentist/professor thinks she's more right than your book. For example, a student brought up something the book stated about the lungs & she replied, "With all do respect, i know more about this. I'm a doctor." PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF & DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.
She gives specific directions for assignments but will fail you even if you did them correctly b/c she decided to change her mind. After a test she gave us the questions to look over to see what we missed, I decided to write mine down so I could go back & study, she ripped the paper from my hand & said i cant study by looking @ the question!
My best professor EVER!!! Her knowledge and blackboards drawing are superb, but how she explain Physiology are even better!! Highly recommend her if you really want to learn and be prepare for further academic steps
The class is challenging as expected so you'll have to put in some hours into studying. Dr. Ferraris is well organized and gives daily quizzes which will better prepare you for her midterms. She comes to class 30 minutes prior to answer any questions so take advantages of that opportunity. Be on time don't miss class and study hard!
Dr Ferraris class is very intense, and prepares you well for the following class. Go prepared to study and pay attention to lectures. You will need to study to pass. If you don't understand, she will take the time to explain everything. I liked her class.
Dr. Ferraris is tough but helpful. She really wants you to succeed in her class. If you use all her resources ( power points, test practice questions, online homework) you will do okay. She expects you to study so as long as you do study you will pass the class.
I would not recommend this teacher over others. She was difficult to understand at times and very aggressive when you asked for clarification. Very argumentative and demeaning. She talked to the class like we were in kindergarten and treated test time like musical chairs. The only positive was how she broke the material down to simplify it.
hardest class i have ever taken, theres no hw, all you have to do is pay attention&STUDY, read the book, go to the SI,watch yt videos, do the review questions that she provides! Dr Ferraris has her SI sessions once a week, she has weekly quizzes,3 midterms and final, dont slack off,i took it along w the lab, it was hard but the lab is a bit easier
took lecture and lab together, not as hard as lecture but its not an easy class, you have to study alot, lab book required, i used version 9, her review questions are very helpful, weekly quiz, 5 midterms and a final, do not slack off, i studied every day and in the end it pays off, watch yt videos , go to the si sessions
Would NOT recommend if you don't already have a somewhat solid baseline on Biology. Tries her best to cover content, but there's a lot to cover and she's not thorough. A LOT to study, but she does provide a lot of resources. For exams, I personally hated how she makes you wait outside while she picks who gets to sit down first off a whim. Dropped.
Super hard!!!
Do NOT take this sorry excuse for a professor. She only grades on tests and midterms, yet fails to address what will be on them during lecture. Worst instructor I have ever had in my three years of college. She expects you to devote your entire life to her class, even scolds you if you have other responsibilities that come before her. HORRIBLE.
Physiology is a tough class in general but thanks to Dr. Ferarris, it was easier than it should be for me. Rough start in the beginning but once you get a hang of this class and adapt yourself to her teaching style, you should be fine! EVERYTHING she addresses during lecture will be in quizzes/midterms for sure. She trained me well for the future.
At some point, the materials of lab and lecture do match and you dont have to study much. Focus on what she lectures in lab and read the lab manual. I didnt use the review questions much bc they were designed for Dr. Edens lab. I found some questions in there stupid. Recommend taking both lab and lecture together, it does worth your while
she only brags of her life. Shes very rude.
Post-bachs and those with family, she is not family friendly and is unforgiving if something comes up. Her class comes first. Youve been warned. Be prepared to be treated like you do not study. Her position of authority is taken to an unprofessional level, that falls on deaf ears. She knows the subject but the way she treats students is wrong.
She will only based your grade and knowledge on quiz, midterms. Quiz are given every week and EXPECTED to get a 10 if you want to pass the class. I attended to every single class and more than half of the tutoring. I was not able to get a 10 every week, so I received a no passing grade.
Do not take Bio-6 with Ferraris if you have other classes or other priorities. Trust me, you will not get an A unless you dedicate a lot of your time and I mean a lot of it to just Bio-6. You will notice that more than half of the class will drop within 2 months. She only grades on quizzes and tests, and there is one every week.
Ferarris is a very controversial teacher. You will either hate her or love her. She brags about herself a lot but she also prepares me well for the nursing school later. Her class is time-consuming and if you want that A, you HAVE to make it your PRIORITY. Her tests are critical thinking so memorizing the materials is not enough, understand them!
I do not recommend taking BIO-6 with Dr. Ferraris. However, she does a great job at lecturing the powerpoint, but she's a tough grader. Majority of the students in my class had to end up dropping this course. I recommend taking this corse with someone else who offers more points and not just base grades off of weekly quizzes.
Challenging, but for a reason. BIOLOGY-HEAVY material. Easy to drown if you do not keep up wisely. If you cruised by in BIO-5 & GE Bio classes, do not take this class with Ferraris. Approach the material CONCEPTUALLY. Drawings & YouTube topic lectures are a big help. Expect the level of studying to be equivalent to an upper-div class at a 4-year.
This professor does not provide any study guides. You are on your own to learn the material. She has a very strong accent and it is hard to understand what she is saying. Many times students will correct her grammar. She is very strict and old fashioned. I dont recommend taking this class.
She has a strong accent so it is kind of hard to understand her. Also her powerpoints are very disorganized because she adds certain slides and then says "this is not going to be on the test so don't study this" I am very confused on what to study because of this. There is no study guides so you have study on your own. Grade is based on quiz/tests.
Dr. Ferraris is a a very disciplined and strict instructor. She does not curve grades and does not give any extra credit. She is constantly emphasizing on how important the book is for quizzes. However, she is very thorough and is very clear on what will be on the quiz. Study the book and make sure to do the review q's.
Dr. Ferraris only grades quizzes and tests, and many of her questions do not come from the book or the review questions she provides online. Her class is extremely challenging and she can be difficult to understand because of how complex she makes the subject. I highly recommend opting for a different professor.
This professor has a very hard accent to understand. She was not specific with the material she was teaching. I was not learning nothing from her because she would rush through the class and did NOT LET US ASK QUESTIONS as if she was in a hurry. After two weeks she send us a very discouraging email telling us to drop out if we didn' do 8-10 on test
On the first day of class Dr. Ferraris said with pride that 2/3 of her students usually drop out before the end of the semester. Shes funny in the sense that she takes random questions so personally. Bc of her accent and lecture style it is very difficult to learn new material. The only reason Im barely passing now is bc of outside study groups
As long as you study you'll pass! Literally, as long as you record her lectures and are going over them through out the week. Her tests are based on her lectures and therefore it is clear what to expect on the tests. If you don't study each week you'll fall behind.
Ferraris is not that great of a professor. Most of the stuff she puts on the test are not on the lectures. She has a very strong accent. She does not give extra credit and makes you put everything aside just for her class. Its a very hard course, but she makes it more difficult. It would be better to take the class with a different professor.
unfortunately, she just wasn't the teacher for me. She is very strict and definitely can bring you down with her words, instead of encouraging you she would say things that would highly discourage you. This class is already hard but she made it even harder. I seriously wouldn't recommend her !
This Professor is very difficult, Shes rewords everything in weekly quizzes and test!! Not caring & she thinks shes an important doctor. And she doesnt follow the right standards of online school. She treats the class like its the only one you should be taking. Dont take her if you dont have too and if you do good luck.
This class was the most stressful and annoying semester ive ever had! I tried so hard to study for the class but its so difficult because you dont know what to study on since she doesnt tell you whats on the test. You have to hope you studied the right material. I would not recommend her this subject is tough already but she makes it worse.
Understanding Physiology is not meant to be easy and neither is this course. It's imperative to join her live lectures, watch all her YouTube videos, and join the SI sessions. Dedication and effort is what it takes to succeed in this course. One of my toughest classes so far, but the knowledge I gained was well worth it. Thank you Dr. Ferraris!
She expects all students to give her class the upmost attention regardless of work/class/other obligations. Her heavy accent makes it difficult to not only understand her videos, but her quizzes contains grammatical errors that are never fixed. There are hours of lecture videos to watch and she expect you to attend OH to pass and does not curve.
I came back after finishing my two years of Nursing School at Hartnell. I thought this class was the most difficuklt but wait until you are in Nursing School ! I passed my Ttest at once without external preparation for Physiology. She teachs what you need. She is AWESOMW!!!!! Thanks Dr. Ferraris !! you prepared your students like noone else!!!
After getting my bachelor's in Biology at Davis I came to Hartnell to become a Nurse. I had taken a Physiology lecture over there and I took the lab with her. She blew me away in terms of how much I learned with her. After her class, my foundation for nursing was a rock! She is demanding and fair. Thanks, Dr. Ferraris
She taught me not only Physiology, which she MASTER. She taught me how to study. She inspired me to be disciplined and prioritize my goals. I passed my T test the first time, immediately after my class with her just using her videos and recorded lectures. Her videos on Youtube are EXTRAORDINARY. I was accepted in Hartnell Nursing school already ))
If you work full time or take other classes do not take her class. You need a lot of weekly time to be prepared for her test. However, her study material on YouTube is incredibly helpful. She is demanding and fair. Always accessible by zoom. Stop waining and blame her if you did not pass. If you study correctly you pass. PERIOD. She is a masterpiec
Dr. Ferraris made it clear from the beginning that her class would not be easy, she was exactly right. I feel like there is a language barrier, I emailed her questions and she would reply either with a sassy reply or she would not quite understand what my question was. Her lectures are informational. she doesn't allow quiz questions to be shown,
She is a very stern and forward teacher. You are only graded on two things every week, a weekly discussion and test, they're hard & those are heavy on the grades. NO extra credit. It is not impossible to pass this class with a good grade, you just need to put ALOT of work, and do not expect her to be flexible unless it is life threatening.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Her grading is nonsense and the fact we can't review our answers is unfair as well. Her accent is very hard to understand and she can't make a point with her lectures. Her teaching is the worst and I hate the fact that because of her "Dr" ego is the reason I won't meet nursing requirements.
