extremely hot and i don't mean for an older women, i mean hot, period. She is a very good teacher, very helpful and truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. I would strongly recommend her, she extremely beautiful and sophisticated

Mr. garate is very helpful and fun. She is full of life and independance. Spanish is very self paced if you want to learn, u need to study. But she makes it easier to work with her kindness and patience.

She was hard, but i learned a lot in the class. She was not very flexible if you had to miss class for some reason. I liked her, but it took until about the midterm to really form a relationship to where you felt comfortable talking to her about a question.

great teacher!

She's a HOT teacher who you won't get bored with and will tell you to ask alot of questions. Also her handout can be quite helpful at times. Very nice and understanding teacher. O yeah, for those who does speak Spanish already; she won't make it hard on you guys becuase she knows its something totally different from what you learn growing up..

She is very helpful and makes spanish fun to learn! her handouts are very helpful for the tests. She comes across kind of imtimidating the first day, but stick with her, you will learn a lot and she is the best spanish professor you can have at citrus.

Professor Garate was very strict and loved to put students on the spot. Once you were on the spot she would humiliate the student in front of the entire class. She knows what she is talking about but will not admit when she makes an error. She's an attendance nazi. Garate also had a Latin superiority attitude. Take another class!

she was pretty hard. i have no idea how i managed to get a B, she knew i didn't know what i was doing. but i always tried no matter what, and she noticed that. she could be kinda rude, but fun at other times...

Prof. Garate is a good teacher, as long as you pay attention in class, read and do your HW, you will get an A. She's nice, fair and sometimes entertaining. She has sympathy for procrastinators like myself and is leniant towards the end of the semester usually. Good teacher for decent students.

She is really hot!!!!! She is very strict in the way you do things but she is helpful when you ask. We started the class with 29 students and ended with 13. If you can last she is super nice and lenient. Do all the homework and you will be good. I didnt know anything and she helped me through it

She's super beautiful. She is always prepared. She packs her lectures with useful and engaging material. Anyone who says they didn't learn anything in her class is a lazy person, plain and simple. If you pay attention, you can learn tons. Do the homework, study, and you'll do fine. She's got a great personality too!

A beautiful person. Compassionate with regards to your life outside of school. Crystal clear but expects you to work! Easy if you can memorize and study, hard for those who want to sit back and be babyied. Was mean at the start of semester but kind and fun at the end of the semester. Overacheiver, wont settle for mediocrity, I admire her.

I wouldn't take her again. She gives you a wrong answer if you forget a accent mark, write in pencil or is she cannot make the answer out(ya right). She is redicolous about her rules. However she is very smart. If you are able to deal with her attitude you're ok. Spanish 01 is all grammer!

Ms. Garate is cruel. Her comments and behavior towards students is awful. I plan on making an offical compliant. I dislike the rude remarks made to students and the extra effort on making the class impossible. More than half the class has dropped. Find another professor,especaly native speakers.

Ms.Garate was a great professor. She expects students to participate in class. She comes across as tough but its only because she is really trying to teach. She gives everyone a chace to pass her class, its up to the student to learn. After all the is what we are there to do, learn.

Prfessora Garate is a beautiful, caring woman who is concerned about the success of her students. She expects timely attendance and participation. if your not willing to do so or to work hard drop the class...definately not an easy A but a useful one. she comes off hard and doesnt put up with stupidity but is there to teach

Although shes VERY strict and tough shes a good professor. She will put you on blast if you don't understand the material or if you don't do the homework. She just expects a lot. Very tough class though.

Amazing teacher! If you can be responsible... Do your hw.. Show up to class.. And respect the learning enviornment.. You will do great! Avoid her comments to the others... Everyone saying she's rude needs to GROW A PAIR! Ya, she calls you out, but its the most helpful thing & thats what helped me learn cuz it kept me on my toes knowing I'd have to answer questions every class. I'm not a student who gets great grades, yet I got a B. These bad ratings are over the top mean/unfair but ya, if u dont study don't take it

Although she has negative reviews don't let it fool you! She is a GREAT professor- she just makes you work for your grade. If you put in the time and effort as well as a positive attitude, she will give you the grade you deserve. She truly challenges you! I followed her directions from the very beginning and got an A in the course.

at first i really didnt like the class it seemed very difficult but as the semester went on it became an okay class and she is actually a really good teacher she just wants to make sure your learning the material and doesnt have time for people who want to play around or are not applying themselves. i would definitely recommend her.

Pretty tough instructor but she wants u to learn and speak Spanish effectively because without practice, how can u speak the language? Took her during summer honestly it was a tough 6 weeks but I'm glad I took her I got an A and all of us that remained passed. Be on top of ur verb conjugation and vocab and u will be fine. This class was so difficult that I was forced to withdraw; DONT take this class if you have a lot going on in your life! it is VERY HARD. Garate is very helpful, but the impetus is on the student to really study, A LOT. Tough prof, but an EXCELLENT ONE: you will leave knowing the language.

Do not take her if you dont know any spanish. Her first 2 weeks she spoke nothing but spanish and confused me and my friends. Assigns a lot of work. Marks off for almost everything. But a very fun class to be in. When asking for help, she kind of makes you feel stupid, while helping you out as well. I would not take her class again.

I took 4 years of spanish in highschool, so Garate's spanish 1 class was easy for me. However, if you do not know any spanish at all going in, the class will be difficult. You need to be prepared to work really, really hard. Although she's tough, she is a good teacher.

I took her SPAN101 in winter, even though many of the comments say she's unfair, let me disprove the fact. Dr. Gárate makes you earn your grade and all you need are "Ganas!" In class, she will go over grammar, spelling, and phonetic concepts clearly. Just make sure to ask questions if you don't understand. Most everyone passes if they at least try.

If you do the homework and study really hard and A LOT you will do well in the class. I studied every single day and ended up with an A . A lot of people complain about her because she can be kind of scary (I was scared of her) and she is not very approachable. But if you come to class prepared and try your best to participate you will do fine.

She was an awesome teacher! I would take her again. You do have to come to class prepared and with all the homework assigned financed or you won't pass. She is clear on her lectures and will help you if you need it

Prof. Gárate was a fun and clear teacher! Since she's teaching a college-level foreign language class, her grading made sense. IMO, she was overly strict with attendance. If you miss a day, but catch up and do really well on all the work, she'll still mark your final grade down by a letter due to the absence. But, I really loved this class!

Because I'm a native speaker i went in thinking i already knew Spanish and it was going to be easy but i was wrong. She really teaches you the rules and try's to get you to really learn them not to just write down something and say well its this way because it sounds right. Put in the work and you'll be fine.

I took her spanish 101 class and it was significantly harder than her spanish 201 class. If you did good on the first class you are going to be just fine for the second. Everything was easier she even seemed more relaxed and easy going.

I took Profesora Garate's class this past semester and it was absolutely amazing. She is firm in enforcing her rules but gives leeway for legitimate reasons. If you really put in the time and effort you are bound to receive an A in her class. Also, her tests reflect what she teaches in class. Do the chapter packet pages she assigns good test prep.

Professor Garate is a great professor. People just don't like her because she is strict and a tough grader, which I won't deny. She definitely makes you work for the grade. That's college. She will call you out for not doing the homework! PARTICIPATION MATTERS. If you out in the effort, you will actually learn the language! I enjoyed, and passed.
