Professor Lagadic is very helpful but the class is still hard.
She was great. Explains things in a way that make sense to anyone. Always willing to help, even outside office hours. Has typed up notes for class. I'd take her class again!
She is Great, Dont Listen to Negative Feedback on Her, She is The Best!!!!!
This class was the worst. I attended class everyday but her accent makes it hard to understand her. She isn't very helpful at all. Even if you spend a week studying for her test I think it will still be hard to get a good grade.
She is the worst prof. I've ever had at NKU. You can read the book & go to class, but I doubt it will help. Her accent was cute 4 a while but that didnt last long! She doesnt help, doesnt explain, and is just terrible! And I usually love all my classes and professors, but she has seriously made me question my major and reason 4 going 2 NKU.
Prof. Lagadic is a horrible professor who at times is snooty and hardly helpful. She also wastes an enormous amount of paper.
Worst professor I've had. Assigns too much homework, practice tests are nothing like the actual exams, not helpful to students, and she doesn't explain anything well. If you ask her for help she tells u to suck it up and use ur common sense. She is not approachable and should be fired. I signed up for BIO NOT CHEM!! I changed my major.
HORRIBLE!! I wouldn't even call her a professor/dr. A 54% class average on exams is not at all normal, this shows lack ofteaching skills. She is not approachable at all and is very rude if you try to ask for help. She does tell you to get common sense even if you get 8 out of 9 pts. I got common sense and withdrew.
If you are a lazy student, obviously most who have rated this professor are, do not take this class. Exams are hard, but formal lab reports make up for the bad grades.
to the one who commented below..having a 4.0 does not consider me being lazy. The professor is by far the worst ever. Even if you are smart, and try really hard, I guarantee it will still be the toughest class if you take it with Lagadic. Good Luck.
I hated this class. You can't understand her and when she talks it really doesn't make sense what she's saying. She's not very helpful because when you ask her a question, you can't understand her, nor does she make sense. She comes off really rude and snotty. I do not recommend her!
This professor is a genius. She has more knowledge for what she teaches than any other professor I have seen. She sometimes struggles to get all of the points for her lecture in and taught comprehensively within the 50 minutes allotted, but she is more than willing to meet with you outside of class to clear things up. Very fair teacher. A+ prof
This professor was very fair. She gives you chances to make up points on exams and to retake quizzes. If you are willing to put in 10 minutes of studying and work to help improve your grade, you will easily pass. I wish I would have taken complete advantage of the help she gives, and I would have dont even better. Take her, she is great.
Dr. Lagadic is a great professor. Although she may have a french accent, she is very comprehensible and easily understood. People who have rated her negatively are probably those who don't like/understand chemistry. Her tests are very capable; many people just decide not to study for them. She is a great professor and deserves more credit.
Dr. Lagadic's lab section is a little more intense and time-consuming than other chemistry professors'. She does require that every report due is typed, including every calculation and data sheet. However, it is very rewarding because she provides immense feedback on them. She explains the lab beforehand and does a great job explaining concepts.
Professor Lagadic is a very unaproachable prof. When I asked for help for something I was not understanding, I was told, "I do not have time for this. I taught you this in class. Figure it out." Her tests were impossible & went with practically nothing she taught in class
i got nowhere with this woman. she is really hard to understand and does NOT want to help at all. although she knows so so so much about what she's teaching, she doesn't take the time needed to teach her students the material. she kind of ruined my entire outlook on chemistry and shes kind of a b*tch
She is a great instructor, students who complain about accents are too busy listening to accents rather than what the instructors are saying, she is a little unapproachable but i was persistent and made her approachable, sometimes you have to do that. Got an A in her class, make use of OWL, never get any of them wrong, there is no reason to!
Dr. Lagadic did a great job. She was extremely helpful and answered all questoins as long as you asked. She had great oractice tests and great study guides. Do attend class. It helps a lot.
Dr. Lagadic is great. She was always willing to help me out in 120 and 121. Her lecture notes are great as well. I never found any of her test all that difficult and learned alot from her.
She is fair and expects the work to be done.
I am currently taking Dr. Lagadic's chemistry course and I love it. She's really really helpful and explains the concepts well. I wasn't planning on attending NKU next year but have so much enjoyed her class that I am now considering it. I completely recommend her. The work is challenging but she is fair and gives good opportunities to do well.
Although i was at first thrown off by her accent i eventually got use to it. Dr. Lagadic is probablly the most helpful teacher at NKU. Her exams arent all too hard and she gives you a study guide and practice exam. I would advise going over the practice exam multiple times because that is the same format as the test. If i can i will take her again.
Prof. Lagadic is def not mean or snooty for all those people who said she was, she is very nice but she goes over the course material WAY too fast. Most of the people who found her class helpful probably have some chemistry background but trust me, DO NOT take her if you haven't taken chem before, you will be lost, take chem 102 first.
I had one year of high school chemistry before this class. If you've only had the same, you may end up lost. She was frustrated easily. I asked about a chart that was set up oddly in the protocol and she said she wasn't sure what language besides English I needed directions in. I dropped the course. I definitely don't recommend it for freshmen.
i suppose she's a good teacher. but she's very picky. and i feel like she's somewhat hard to understand.
Dr. Lagadic is nice and allows you to gain extra points back on test which was really helpful. Sometimes it is hard to understand whats she's talking about, but most of the time I understood what was going on.
She assigns way too many formal lab reports that are at least 100 points each and her grading is so meticulous it's hard to get a good grade in her class even if you know the material. Exams are super hard and she makes you feel like an idiot if you ask her questions. She's foreign and hard to understand. I do not recommend her at all.
omg she is so hard to understand and when you go see her at her office she confuses the heck out of you avoid at all cost pre meds she hates the book find someone who can one teach and 2 you can undertsand
She is very nice, and she friendly, but my god... the tests are insane. She gives some partial which is the only thing that saved me. Be prepared to work your ass off, because the tests are over about a quarter of the book each time, and the final is comprehensive, no punches pulled. Math intensive.
Dr. Lagadic is probably one of the hardest professors I have ever had. Her exams are based off the book problems and NOT the OWL problems. Once you figure that out it makes the exams way easier. She allows you to get points back and if she likes you is very personable to you. She knows a lot about the subject matter too but can make you feel stupid
She has very difficult tests, but will help you if you ask questions and go to the review sessions. She is hard to understand and will make you feel very dumb. Extra credit points will be worked for.
I'm pretty sure she thinks this is a 300 level class i would go elsewhere but if you can't. Be ready to study a ton. The school suggest sitting in on other teachers if that gives you an idea.
So many people dropped this class, and for good reason. Not only is she super hard to understand, but she FLIES through the material. I was completely lost the entire time, and this is supposed to be a gen ed? The tests are crazy hard also, unless you've have a really good chemistry backround prior to taking her. Otherwise, avoid taking thsi class!
Lagadic is a great professor. She is very approachable, but her explanations will sometimes go over your head if you don't understand Chemistry. She is a very picky grader, so pay attention to significant figures and makes sure you label things well. Tests are not difficult if you are prepared and study your lab notes and the feedback she provides.
Teaches way too fast, but if you ask her, she's willing to ask you. Dr. Lagadic is not very clear sometimes and makes things look harder than what they actually are. Overall, she's not the worst professor, but I really would recommend a different teacher for 102 and maybe her for a higher class. Don't buy the book either, just buy the OWL code.
Where to start... well first off she is french and it very hard to understand what she is saying, so that makes the class a little more difficult, also i missed one day of her class and she told me that i was not able to make up anything that i missed becuase it was against her policy. so i missed about 150 points just for that day.
also one day in her class i didnt get something that she said so i asked her about it, and when i did she told me that she couldn't help me becuase it wasn't the fact that i didn't understand she said it was becuase i didn't listen and dont care. over all she is a horrible teacher and i think all other comments will confirm my comment.
DO NOT take a gen ed with this professor! She does not care about her students and seems to go out of her way to be cold and cruel.
She is the best chemistry professor ever. She gives ten points extra credit on each exam!!!!! enough said
Horrible professor took forever to give anything back. Test were extremely hard. She is an extremely hard grader!!! By far worst chemistry I have had!
She never let international student to use the dictionary!!! That makes she bacome the worse professor in the whole Science Center!!! Also!!! We cannot understand what she said at all!!! never give us a chance to explain what we did in the lab. THE WORSE!!!
offers ten points extra credit for each test. writes very detailed notes. never had to open the book.
Horrible teacher, goes too fast then doesn't explain anything (and if she tries she makes it worse!), gives an insane amount of OWL, doesn't even attempt to work with you on anything, concerning emails were responded to by sarcastically rude patronizing comments.
Dr. Lagadic is awesome. Tons of extra credit opportunities and very concise lectures.
Can't understand what she's saying. Expects everything to be memorized the day she teaches it. I was learning more from using Google to understand her power points. She really shouldn't be teaching an intro class.
I had a tutor and went to study sessions and was on borderline d-f
HIGH Expectations, expected you to be a chemist
Dr. Lagadic is a very helpful chemistry teacher. She explains information very well and she is absolutely the best chemistry teacher I've had.
I advise anyone not to take this class unless you are in a higher level chemistry. She is very hard to understand, an extremely hard grader, and her tests are huge! Most students don't finish her tests in the time given. Also, her online quizzes are on chapters ahead of what you review in class. She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had!
Although Dr. Lagadic is a very kind individual, she is one of the worst professors I've had. She is very unclear, and her tests are incredibly difficult. If you are stuck with this professor, I HIGHLY advise you attend any and all study sessions- YOU WILL NEED THEM. I do not recommend this instructor, good luck if you have her.
Every so often she gives a packet of up to 15 problems, graded partially on completeness, partially on correctness. She takes time out every week to have a set study session outside of class that you get extra credit for attending. Study hard, she wants you to do your best. I wish I could have her for every chemistry class I take.
Weekly quizzes over material learned that week, weekly (sometimes every two weeks) there's a homework packet with 15-20 problems over the chapters covered in lecture. Tests are decent length and sometimes require fast computation to get done in time. She genuinely wants her students to learn and gives many examples in class.
Prof. Lagadic is the worst professor I have ever had. I do well in Chemistry but she managed to confuse all knowledge I had. Homework and quizzes are given but not returned (not helpful), exams are extremely challenging and too long for the time period, she is mean and unclear. Would not recommend this professor to anyone. If you have her, DROP!!!
Dr. Lagadic is one of my favorite professors at NKU. She really cares about her students, if they are trying. She is a tough grader, but she is very clear about her expectations, and if you follow them, you shouldn't have a problem.
Dr. Lagadic cares more about the student's development academically and professionally than most of the professors at NKU. As long as you read her syllabus, take it seriously, and are considerate in your emails, she will help you out as much as you need. Dr. L goes above and beyond for the students who are respectful and genuinely try. Take her!
Dr. Lagadic is known as a tough professor, but I found her to be fair and understanding. Some of the post-labs were a bit specific, but she is always open to questions so long as you are respectful when you reach out to her. I would definitely take her again!
She is a hard grader. A question for a lab would be an opinion question, and she'd mark it wrong. She expected answers for post/pre-lab questions that weren't even in the question, so you lose points for that. Expects you to study for exams off of your previous labs when she still has some of your labs. DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR LAGADIC.
This professor is the absolute hardest out of all the other professors. This class was absolutely rediculous. I will probably end up retakeing with a different professor
She is very kind and willing to help. That said, she is also hard to understand, and she turns the lights off during class so that can be a problem if you get sleepy. Her tests tend to be very long for the time period, and they are harder than the ones in the practice exam. Finally, we did not cover everything that is in the final.
Professor Lagadic should be teaching an upper level course and NOT an introductory one. She was very slow to grade work, did not give clear feedback on exams, and exams were astronomically harder than any of the practice ones. She tells you not to buy the textbook but I wish I had bought it anyways because I had to teach myself most of the content.
She gives homework every week on all the content learned that week. All the notes you need are uploaded on blackboard to print. However, she does not provide detailed explanations on how she gets the answers. Moves very fast through the notes.
While there is truth in the statements that there is a lot of homework, you get the entire week, if not more, to complete it. She has to go through notes quickly to cover the material, but she provides the notes to print out/follow on bb. Her tests are straightforward, and if you study and pay attention you will do well. No textbook required.
Dr. Lagadic should not be teaching an entry-level course. She tried to explain things, but it didn't really help and she was hard to understand. When you ask for help, she tells you to slow down and doesn't actually help you comprehend the material. She is a very hard grader and should be teaching an upper-level course.
She is very particular about the way things are to be done, but this makes it easier because you will understand what is expected of you. She explains things thoroughly and completely before beginning a lab, and is willing to answer questions throughout the lab period. She's a tough grader, but I found her feedback to be helpful.
If you are a serious student, you can succeed in this class. I like Dr. Lagadic's teaching style; she is very clear in her lectures and posts note sheets that you can print and bring to class. Her pet peeve is rudeness. She does her students a favor by insisting on formality; it's good practice for the real-life work world, anyway.
She didn't teach two chapters that were on the ACS final (electrochemistry and nuclear chemistry); We had to teach ourselves. No extra credit, and the final exam with material she didn't teach was 22% of the final grade. Start teaching yourself these chapters early for the final because you're on your own. We got blindsided at the end.
Respondus lockdown browser is used. Hard to understand material & the homework is excessive. Tests are extremely hard for no reason
Her learning style is implemented through her teaching with a very strict my way or no way kind of style. Her style isn't bad but if you fall behind you will struggle to catch back up because of how forward and constant moving the class is. Speak up if you need something because she is helpful one on one but overall the class was very difficult.
idc what y'all say she is a good professor for CHE 120L. If you mess up she will let you redo it, I cant imagine anyone having a bad grade in her lab unless you didn't contact her or you just don't care... it's your own bad if you fail because she makes it stupid easy to retake and relearn if she knows you care and you wanna pass.
By FAR the worst professor that you will ever have the misfortune of taking if you step into her "classroom" she has no care in the world for students if they make any mistake and will kick some students out of class for being unprepared. Very disrespectful towards students who may follow instructions wrong.
terrible. cares more about how you fill things out than if you have the correct answer or not. homework are long and significantly easier than the exams, and she only grades two problems off the homework. so if you miss those two, tough luck. Zero patience or empathy for students who may make small mistakes. would not recommend for anyone to enroll
The tests were extremely difficult and the final exam included sections that were never discussed in lecture. Avoid this professor
Professor Lagadic is a very rude and difficult person to have as a professor. I am warning you do not take her lab because she is very rude to you. She always screams at you and tells you what can you not understand. Very difficult
This professor graded ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. If you like being talked to like a human I wouldn't take her. If you like having feedback or any type of grades I wouldn't take her, she hasn't graded anything, and it's after the semester is over at this point. She seems to hate her job and takes it out on the students.
Listen to me clearly: If you care about your gpa, major and being successful don't never take her class. I am telling you this about FRENCH PEOPLES. She will yell at you if you ask questions about lab experiments etc.. She's bad herself, act like she never went to college and does not know what she's doing. OVERALL DON'T DESERVE TO BE A TEACHER.
I had filled out 2 pages of my lab notebook for preparation for 1 lab. When I showed up to the lab, she did not approve of my lab notebook and showed it by proceeding to degrade me in front of the entire class and kick me out of the lab. She the most unprofessional professor I have ever had and I would not recommend anyone take her classes.
Try to take PJ Ball for chem lab. Lagadic is the worst teacher I've had. She is very rude and grades extremely hard. She took points off for plagiarizing because my lab PARTNER and I had similar sentences when explaining a section in the post-lab questions. Like what? Rude for no reason. Tests dont even relate to what we learn.
Does not accept late assignments a single minute after the due date, will mark you as absent if you are even a single minute late. Regardless of the subject, this is a terrible way to treat students. It indicates a lack of empathy/understanding for students issues. It also encourages you to simply ignore any material you miss rather than catch up.
Professor Lagadic was the worst part of my experience at NKU. She was the least helpful professor I had and honestly couldn't understand why she became a teacher to begin with. From the first class until the last day I felt like I was an inconvenience to her anytime I asked for clarification. She is rude, I would absolutely avoid her at all costs.
No matter what, I always seemed to be an inconvenience to her. Whether it was for clarification or just a simple question, she would roll her eyes or sometimes just laugh and walk away. I tried my best to like her but she was nothing but rude. She grades unfairly and wont hesitate to take off unnecessary amounts of points for something miniscule.
Do not take this professor. I walked into class and immediately witnessed her treating people with little respect and kicking them out of the classroom. She did the same thing to me although i emailed her why i couldn't buy a lab notebook yet she proceeded to touch all my supplies and degrade me in class and kicked me out.
Avoid her at all costs!!!!!!!
Avoid at all cost.
Not as bad as people say. She's not rude, just French- direct, has dry humor, so on. Yes, she will be rude if you disrespect her, but she's nice if you are. Hard to fail because she gives SUPER clear directions and lays everything out step by step. Just actually listen and you'll be fine; you get EXACTLY what you put into her class.
PLEASE do not take her class. She dropped over people from my class for "plagiarism" on partner work. We did the same experiment, same data, but somehow were supposed to come up with answers that were not remotely similar? Some guy had allergies she screamed, then kicked him out. Overall, I would not wish this class on my worst enemy.
she has an accent so be attentive. she's so sweet if you do everything correctly and pay attention, but can be very condescending if you mess up or show disrespect. always say please and thank you when asking her for anything, it goes a long way with her. she doesnt "kick people out for no reason" she just follows the lab dress code to a T.
Genuinely the worst professor I have had. I had to drop because I miss one assignment that she did not remind us of and did not put a due date on. CHE 300 is an easy one credit class, so there was zero reason I should not get an A. She makes it near impossible.
This professor gave me an automatic D when my grade was originally a 95% simply because I had ONE absence the ENTIRE semester and forgot to email her letting her know when I had a very valid reason as I had a preparation for a deposition for court that day and could get proof. She emailed me back very misdemeaning and disrespectfully also.
Theres a lot to do outside of lab. She can be sweet but if you make the smallest mistake, she won't hesitate to make you feel stupid. Dry humor. you have to be very considerate because she think you're below her stature. Very clear about grading criteria but a very harsh grader. I got a zero on a lab bc I submitted one scanned document upside down.
