Horrible Teacher. Interesting subject, but very annoying teacher. I wish I had taken some other science class instead of hers.
She's aight; definitely not a chili pepper though. Exams are tough and lectures are time consuming and boring. Mandatory that you take the exams, in person, for an online class and the final exam date isn't set until half way through the semester and then it ends up being at 8am. You don't need the textbook and professor doesn't help students.
Very horrible curriculum. Makes you watch hour long videos of her mostly rambling on about her home country and most chapters have 8-10 videos. Have to take exams in-person and are very poorly structured with the quiz not helping you at all. She also doesn't deserve the chili pepper, very annoying accent from Russia. Take another class.
A lot of long lecture videos which could be condensed if she did not go off track. She's hard to understand because of her Russian accent. She takes her subject way to serious. We are all here because we have to be but she thinks we are interested in geology. Test are poorly worded as well. So study a lot and then some more. Geology is our life :(
Let's be honest here, and please don't take my rating out this time. Although her video lectures are annoying and very long, she explains the subject really well, but she was rude and arrogant when I once stopped by her office. I have no problem with her accent, but I didn't like her demeanor. My teachers are usually much nicer than her.
shes a good teacher and person but she takes this class way too seriously. She never lets us out early (she would wait till the last minute and sometimes keep going for another 1-2 minutes) tests are confusing and tricky all mc. it would be nice if there was more guidance to what is hoping to be on the exams
Will ruin your gpa !! Do not take any classes with her ! Bad choice
Take it if you have friends to prepare for the quizzes and tests. Quiz answers are not easy to determine from online lectures alone.
Probably wont pass this class. She crams all these lectures and quizzes and the end of the semester as well. I don't like the fact that homework assignments and due dates are not listed on her syllabus. So out of the blue, a homework assignment will pop up and will be due soon. Some of us have work schedules and have to have more advance notice!
There are clicker points every class so make sure to show up. The subject was interesting! She's snarky when you walk in late. I didn't buy the book but her tests are based off of lecture. She also drops your lowest test grade. As long as you pay attention & understand the concepts, you should do fine. There's 1 project that is okay, not too tough.
Really great class and teacher. Her online lectures helped me learn a lot about geology in depth and I actually enjoyed watching some of them. Has 3 tests and one final and drops the lowest grade. Lots of lectures to go thru but its worth it for a good grade.
One of the best online classes I've taken. Video lectures are awesome and thorough. Only wish I could have taken the course in person because she has a fun personality and I feel like I could have enjoyed it more. She is really passionate about the subject and transfers it to the course. It's college, so if you actually study, you'll pass.
Isabelle is great! Her lectures are long, but very organized and to the point. She provides all definitions, examples, and videos, and goes over every point multiple times. Really clear, and gets it in your head! Super funny humor! I was actually entertained. She is passionate! Holds online help sessions, and gives quizzes based on the exam. Loved!
Isabelle is awesome! She cares almost TOO much about her students and does her best to guide you. She radiates a passion about teaching that I wish all of my instructors had. I'm excited to be taking my THIRD class with her in the spring. Thanks for all that you do Isabelle!
Great, great professor! I'm actually sad that I took her class online, because she seems like an awesome person, not to mention she has a great sense of humor! The material is super interesting and makes you think twice about how we live. She's super enthusiastic and I'm glad I took this class. For sure not an easy A, but definitely a great course.
I enjoyed the class! She has some lengthy video lectures, but they are well organized and interesting. She's pretty funny. Tests are taken in person and are straight out of the video lectures, so if you actually watch them and take in-depth notes you'll be fine. You don't need a book, so save your money. Also, she's not Russian guys...
It's sad that I can't express my opinion on here without you people reporting it and taking it down. She just wasn't a great teacher for me. But I'm pretty sure this will be taken down as well.
Her exams are tricky and unfair. Class is interesting, but hard to understand. If you are taking other classes, don't take this one because it drags you in. She doesn't give a lot of information to study and she doesn't give study guides for the tests, and she doesn't encourage her students, which is not teacher-like.
Subject/lectures are interesting and she is a great teacher. Tests are not hard, but she "unnecessarily" uses tricky/confusing questions that can cause one to miss some. She's willing to help, but is defensive if you point out an error. She CANNOT be wrong. I actually liked the class, but would not take again bc of her inflexibility.
I still felt uncomfortable that one of her crew members would constantly stare at me while I took my test. My last comment got deleted. Not cool at all.
Not an easy A. 4 exams, but she drops the lowest. Exams are IN PERSON. DON'T wait till last minute to watch the online lectures. Take a LOT of notes; exams include every single detail she mentions in the online lectures. Very interesting and helpful topics. I don't regret taking it, but I regret not preparing so much. Take it on your own risk.
Her lectures are exactly what's on the test. Go to class and take notes, make quizlets out of those, and youll be solid. My favorite class by far
You must remember that you are taking an upper division course so of course it's not going to be an easy A. Her tests can be tricky in some ways; the questions ask about "hypothetical situations" where you must apply your knowledge. There are few questions that are straightforward. So take the time to study and make sure to watch her lectures early
She is a great professor! I enjoyed the lectures though there are times where it was boring. You can tell she enjoys teaching. She makes time to answer questions before exams (via blackboard). She goes over the quizzes and homework assignments right before the exams. 4 exams and a final, however only 3 exams and final are counted toward your grade.
She has long lectures, but they are interesting. Take many notes, because she does not give study guides. Pop quizzes in the lectures are the types of questions on the exams. Do as many collaborative and group sessions as possible. You have to figure out what details are important, and focus on those. She will make you work, but it's worth it!
Her class was really interesting to me and I enjoyed all her lectures! She's super funny and she likes to pick on people (but not in a mean way). Don't use your phone in class because she will call you out. All her exam questions are based on lectures so if you take good notes and do her study guides, you will get A's on all her tests! Super easy!
Expects all students to be over achievers and thinks this is the only class they are taking. Questions on tests are worded in way that makes you not sure what is being asked. Jokes too much about death.
Tests are based solely on lecture, do not waste time or money on the book. Clicker points are given every day in class (some days a lot more than others) so show up! Her interesting personality brings some humor and fun to a monotonous subject to help retain information.
Nicest and most personable professor of my semester! I hope to be able to take another class with her.
This class is not an easy A but it's not a hardest class. She is very sarcastic, but also can be funny. The class includes four exams (she drops the lowest exam score), online quizzes, and one project. Overall I would say the work you put in is the grade you receive.
Here's the thing, show up to her lectures, take notes and you will do absolutely fine in this class. I found the topic to be very interesting and her tests were a version of notes and power points. She is a hilarious teacher and makes sure to go over the material and that people understand it. Would definitely take again! Found myself wanting to go
She is not a very nice teacher.
Loved this class and loved her! She's very nice and truly cares about her student's success! I would definitely recommend taking this class. There are 3 exams and a final but the lowest exam is dropped. If I could, I would take another class with her!
This is the second class I've taken with her and I've loved both of the classes. She is a great professor. The class was online so I was worried I wouldn't learn as much, but she is very clear and concise with her teaching. Just be sure to watch all the lectures and take good notes. Also: don't bother buying the book! No use for it.
I am a finance major, but in both classes I've taken with her, she manages to make me love geology. If you watch the lectures and take decent notes it is an easy A. She is a VERY fair tester and everything is from lecture (don't buy the book). I actually enjoyed learning about the material. TAKE HER.
Interesting and somewhat eye-opening class mixed with humor and awesome lectures. I went to class everyday and yes, there are clickers used everyday. If you miss 1 clicker question, you don't get credit for the entire day. Tests are generally easy, got A's and a B. Prof is very nice and approachable, she is there for you. Don't buy the textbook.
Very condescending instructor; she looks down to her students. Too much work for this general education class, and the exams are taken in class although the class is online! Avoid if you can. Definitely two thumbs down for this instructor.
TAKE HER! I took it for a ge, but it ended up being my favorite class at SDSU so far. Her lectures are incredibly engaging and the material is super interesting. I learned so much! 3 exams, drops lowest, final (mostly non-cumulative). Lab is pretty easy and we always finished way early. There are clicker q's each class, but you will WANT to go!
Definitely my favorite class ever taken at sdsu. Her lectures went by really fast, and tests were easy! Im a B-C student and got a solid A here with little effort. If you take good notes during her lectures, and study your notes than it will be a breeze. Her test questions are literally taken straight out of her notes and lecture.
I took Sacramentogrilo for both OCEAN 100 and GEOL 303 online. She is by far my favorite professor. She is hilarious and presents powerpoints/lectures the way every other professor should. This course will take a bit of studying, you must attend class & watch lectures, and you will not need the book though she makes it accessible to you. SHES GREAT
She is probably one of the most caring, hilarious, and most fun lectures I've ever had. She truly cares about education and giving students their moneys worth. She made everything so easy to understand as well. If you show up to class you will definitely get a good grade in this class. One of the best professors at State!
Great class to take for your science GE. Although you do have to put time into studying (the tests were long and detailed - over 60 q's), it is all material take from her lectures, sometimes word for word. Clicker questions also appear on tests/quizzes. She's a funny professor and knows a lot about the subject, plus the lowest exam score is dropped
This class is really easy as long as you do all the homework, view her online lectures, and show up for exams. There are 4 exams and a final; however, the lowest exam score will be dropped. The final cannot be dropped. The book is not required!!!! I didn't get the book because her exams are 100% from her lectures! Strongly recommend her!!! :)
Genuinely an amazing professor! She's caring and hilarious! Her exams are based on lectures. Don't need to read to pass with an A. All you have to do is attend class and take notes then you're good to go. Also, this professor allows her students to record her lectures. I will take her again for natural disasters class just because she's amazing!
You learn awesome stuff in this class. The lectures are entertaining and she is the funniest professor of all time. There is a lab that comes with this class which isn't very fun, but is not too difficult. You will do well on her tests if you go to class and take notes and pay attention. Probably the best all around class I have ever taken.
I took this class my first semester at State, and it was my favorite! She is really good at explaining the subject, and the tests are based off of lecture. Tests were lengthy but not too hard. Take her!!
This class was very interesting and I found it to be pretty easy. If you go to class everyday and take good notes then you will pass. She gives you a study guide for the tests on everything you should know so you just have to look through your notes. She is funny and makes the class relevant by talking about the West Coast. Take this class!
Take her! I took her for Ocean100 and this class because she's the best professor! She's passionate about teaching and explains concepts really well. She makes an interesting subject even more intriguing. You have to work hard to get an A, but taking her class is so worth it. 3 exams, drops lowest, 1 final. Do not need book (said by her).
This is my 2nd time taking one of her classes and I love it. You just have to show up on exam days. If you take good notes during her online lectures, I can guarantee you an A. I really liked the material she taught so that probably also helped me get a good grade. She's really nice and funny. If you took her OCEAN100 class, this class will be easy
I took this class when I was a Liberal Studies major and I still don't understand why we only could take this one class and why she is the only one teaching it! You have no choice but to suffer! You have to attend every class in order to get the clicker points AND THEY MATTER and then her tests are filled with trick questions... AVOID IF POSSIBLE
I took the hybrid course. WORST. MISTAKE. YOU WILL DROWN in the amount of work you need to put in this class. She likes to makes jokes and the material is interesting but seriously take ANY OTHER class to fufill the upper GE requirement.
All the lectures and information is online, only met in person for the exams and the final. Lowest exam score is dropped. Online quizzes are relatively easy as well as the occasional writing assignments given. Final grade is mainly determined by exam scores. Exams are weighted heavily on lecture material. She's a great professor, take her!
absolutely horrible teacher in every aspect
One of my favorite professors so far! She is super passionate and teaches really well, you'll know everything you need to for the exams. The tests aren't super hard, just study. Clicker points make class mandatory, but it's worth it! I actually enjoy going to her class.
4 Exams; an average of 8-10 videos about 35min to 1 hour long with assignments and quizzes in between. This class isn't difficult, your schedule just has to be VERY open since it takes up a lot your time!!! No study guides, you have to completely understand, not memorize everything to do well!
There are 3 exams and one final (accumulative). Each section has about 7-8 videos that range from 30 minutes to an hour. There are quizzes in between sections, and two papers. If you do not have the time to put in effort, do NOT take her!! You MUST really understand (not memorize) everything and have the time for it all.
Show up to class and answer ALL clicker questions for participation points for the day. All exams are from lecture so no need for the TB. Exams are pretty specific and detailed so you really need to understand concepts and know little things. Labs are a bit lengthy but doable. Also her lectures are guaranteed to break the ice at parties ;)
Great teacher with great online lectures! Also pro tip: there is a button you can click at the bottom bar of the videos to speed up the lectures. The tests are definitely not easy, so make sure you study up! Take notes during the online lectures, review them before the test, and watch the zoom sessions and you should be fine.
She is one of the best professors i've ever had. I am NOT a science person but she made this class so interesting, and it became my favorite class last semester. Her class is not difficult if you just study a little bit. She's so funny and I recommend everyone to have her at least once!
One of the best and easiest classes i have taken! Definitely recommend! Fun subject to learn about too! Will not get bored listening to lectures.
Was in Isabelle's study abroad group to Portugal this summer, she was by far my favorite professor I have ever had and she was HILARIOUS. She is so kind hearted and loves what she teaches. I would recommend her class to anyone.
I am grography major but I chose this class for GE! All of the natural disasters knowledge can be applied to real life so it is really interesting. Homework is light and easy. Exam is in person but also easy. Frequent office visiting helped me a lot in terms of class subject! She is so approachable and caring about students. Thank you! Ye
favorite teacher on campus, we have the same sense of humor, and shes an amazing teacher. Her class is interesting and shes also hot which is a plus. Honestly my best tip is to try to just start to see the world around you utilizing the concepts you learn in the class, its so applicable to the real world . She is so fun just take this class
She is really fun! You must attend class or you will not pass. Her lectures are super fun & there is no homework, but study for the tests! They can be tricky, but they are all multiple choice & easy to study for.
In my opinion, this class was not an easy A class but it was doable. Pro Tip: The earlier you study for your exam, the better it will be for you. Also, take advantage of the discussion board and ask a lot of questions.
Fun class but tough. It is really interesting to learn about which makes it easier to study. 3 midterms with lowest dropped then final. Lab is about 20-25% of your grade but they are not too hard and don't go very long. Isabelle is passionate and makes lecture interesting. Clicker points are key so going to class is a necessity.
Really great class that is very easy to follow if you put in the time to watch and take notes on all the lectures. Attending the zoom review lectures also helped a lot as she points out important things to focus on. 5 quizzes, 3 exams (she drops the lowest), 1 final, and various homeworks due. Overall, explains topics clearly and is a great teacher
Graded on short reports (occasional), 3 midterms, and a final. Watch the lectures ahead of time and use the discussion board to study. Reports were really annoying. Study a LOT for the exams if you want to pass them. Definitely have to work for your grade, but it's not the HARDEST class ever. Lots of dry material to remember. Fun lectures.
I highly recommend taking her for your upper division elective! The class is online, except for the exams. But just watch the lectures and you will do fine on the tests! She keeps the lectures entertaining and overall the class is very interesting!
She is a great professor, in my most honest opinion. I did not get the book for this class, and just showed up to the lectures. I got an A- in this course. Her tests are based on her lectures, and she tries to make geology as entertaining as possible. Hope I can take her again in the future.
The class is pretty interesting, mainly because of the professor. Exams are only easy if you pay close attention to the lectures. Quizzes are not easy at all. By and large, she's an amazing teacher. a little too amazing.
Her lectures are engaging and she has an amazing dark sense of humor. The class itself is an easy A as long as you have halfway-decent time management skills. Space the lectures out instead of trying to cram them at the last minute (learned that the hard way). Also, you'll never want to study in the library ever again after that earthquake unit..
I really enjoyed her as a person but she was a tough teacher! All her exams are based from the book but she gives you all the information and it is up to you to study. Her syllabus is direct and she refers you back to that anytime you have question. Overall, the class was good but the labs had more math and conversions than I expected
She's a good professor because she gives so much detail, but her online lectures are all about an hour long. You MUST watch the lectures in order to pass the tests. There are 4 exams including the final. She also adds some small assignments and some quizzes prior to the exam. Lots of attention to detail is required.
One of the hardest classes I've taken in all of my college career. Her lectures were insanely long and so boring that it was hard to pay attention, and the tests were completely based off of her lectures. The tests were in class and extremely random with the questions. I would not recommend this class.
She says yu need the book but you dont! Classes is graded on one project and three midterms and a final. Final isnt cumulative and your lowest midterm gets dropped! She does use a clicker though to attendance is mandatory. She really cares about the class though and wants you to do well
Class is pretty easy if you take time to watch the online lectures. There are 3 midterms but drops the lowest. Test are fairly easy if you devote time to study. I usually just crammed my lecture notes an hour before the test and did just fine. Lectures are a little long but are fairly interesting.
By far my favorite teacher that I have experienced at State. Well-knowledged in Oceangraphy as her slides do not have all the information because she wants you to listen in order to get the full grasp on the subject. No homework. Since there is no homework that means that studying for the exams is pertinent. Clicker questions are frequent and easy.
This class honestly killed me but my Queen of the Ocean helped me pull through. I learned how to study like half way through - going over lecture notes and going to Office hours. She is a gem and wonderful beautiful lady! I could care less about the damn ocean but its the easiest for this GE requirement... TAKE HER
Sacramentogrilo is awesome! Her sarcasm keeps lectures interesting and hardly boring. One small "project" that takes 30 minutes to do and that's it for the semester. You do need to actually take good notes and study in order to get a good grade though, but that's a given.
This class was very straight forward, she's a really passionate and good teacher. GO to class because clicker questions are free points (no wrong answer) and write down everything she says. Her tests are exactly the lectures. I got a 93% on the final without studying very much only reviewing my notes. Quizzes are easy.
She's very passionate about the subjects she teaches and it makes the classes fly by. She's super sweet and smart, take her class if you get the chance!
Just an overall great teacher. She's really funny and keeps you engaged throughout the whole class period. Look at the study guides she posts, and TAKE NOTES! Those are going to be your most helpful resources for the tests. She let's you drop one exam, and it's important to go to class for clicker points (credit for just participating).
This professor is very funny and entertaining when it comes to her lectures. She wants you to do well in her class and she will help you get the grade you want. 3 exams, Clicker Points, Final exam that is an emphasis on biological oceans, 5 quizzes, Laboratory, and a bonus clicker session make up.
The lectures are crucial to passing the class, but that's okay because you won't want to miss them! The tests are pretty straightforward but ya still gotta study
Online lectures posted for each exam. 3 midterms and a final but the lowest midterm grade is dropped, you cannot drop the final exam. Homework assignments every few weeks, the quizzes are really easy but two of the hw is writing responses which aren't too bad. Tests are straight from lectures and not too hard
Just take her! I am again. Seriously, just go to class, laugh, and take notes. You will get no less than a B given you dont mess your lab up.
Oceans w/ Sacramento was honestly a fairly enjoyable class. The lectures are important because she does clicker points every session, but more importantly if you go to class you don't have to do any reading. The lab is super straightforward, and as long as you study a decent amount, the tests are manageable. Solid choice for a life science GE.
There are 3 exams and 1 final, the lowest exam score is dropped. There's no homework for this class. Lectures are the test, so make sure to go to them. Make sure to take good notes and you're good to go!
The class context is really interesting, and the professor's online videos make it more bearable. She has a weird humor but I like it. It's mostly based off exams, 3 exams (one dropped) and the final as well as a few quizzes and assignments. The exams are all worded exactly how she talks in the videos, so actually watch them and take notes. Easy GE
This class is quite interesting, 3 exams (lowest is dropped) and one final. Labs are usually done with your group. Take good notes and you will be fine. You still need to study to get a good grade. This is not an easy A but you should have a B or better as long as you put in effort.
This was by far one of the best classes I've ever taken at state! Sacramentogrilo is witty, energetic, and able to make even difficult concepts easy to understand. If you take detailed notes and study, the tests should be fairly easy. Take advantage of the review sessions towards the end of the semester/after quizzes and go to every class!
Very heavy accent. Tests/quizze are written the way she speaks with poor sentence structures at times which makes it hard to undertand. Has dark sense of humor. She's proud of 70's grade avrg. Lectures are heavy but interesting. Knows ND for sure but seems to get carried away in explaining it to the point it become too confusing.
She's a great professor. You'll learn a lot from her. She gives you all the information you need for tests and quizzes. Don't skip the lectures. Take notes and give your full attention. The material is interesting.
You can tell she's passionate about what she teaches; problem is, she expects you to be passionate about it, too, if you want to pass. The clicker, quiz, and test questions are so ambiguous and formulated to be trick questions, but she swears otherwise. Make sure you do well in the lab because her tests are impossible to pass.
Toke this class online. Have to watch 8-11 lectures 45 min-1 hr each. Interesting topic. 4 exams, drop the lowest score. Final is cumulative & can't be drop. Many students gets confused with her tests due to her inability to write simple sentences. Seriously, she can't write what she meant. A true natural disaster class for sure for everyone
Very interesting subject. She's passionate about ND & proud of class avrg of C+. 3 exams, 1 final, drop lowest exam but not final. 100 pts on vague quizzes questns. It's hard to get an A bec of heavy lectures, the way she worded the exams & qzzs. No xtra credit. No mercy. No late hw accepted. Not a way to boost your grade. Take another class!
She is really nice and passionate, however, this class is a lot of work. You have to really study. Hard not to pass this class, but if you want an A you have to work for it. No extra credit; everything is based on 4 tests and homework.
Truly a great professor that cares about what she teaches. This class is graded by two tests, one final and a handful of quizzes. You need to study to do well. An interesting class, but you have to work for your grade.
I loved this professor. She is super funny and she really makes the subject material interesting. She also drops your lowest exam score.
Great teacher, loved the class, but a challenge.
Super clear with what she expects. Take notes on all her lectures, briefly rewatch them before the exam and you'll pass. Shes super understanding, cool and always reviews before exams.
Hilarious teacher. She uses clickers every class in order to take attendance so you have to go to class! No homework, no textbook reading, just show up to lecture, write down her clicker questions bc they are always on the tests, and you'll pass! Online quizzes are a little hard, tests are pretty long too, but all multiple choice!
She is hilarious. The best professor I've had at SDSU so far. There are clicker points so you can't skip class. She makes the material very simple and easy to follow. Pay attention in class and you will easily get a B+ or better on the tests. No homework, quizzes online are kind of hard but you can always look up the answers if you need to.
Awesome professor! Shes very clear on what you need to know. Taking good notes is important to do well on the tests since the book isnt required. Tests are challenging but doable if you put in the work.
She is an amazing lecturer however do not think this is an easy A science class. It was a fun class, I did learn a lot because she taught with lots of humor however you do need to study hard. Take thorough notes! Wonderful person though, she was great!
She's one of the best professors I've ever had!! She let me borrow her geology book and I avoided having to pay for one. Just be sure to take really good notes by ear; as if you do not, you will not do well on the test! She allows you to record her lectures though so no need to worry. Study study study. She does not curve (at least in Spring 2017)
You have to go to class. Dont bother buying the book. You dont use it. She is pretty funny and her tests are reasonable. I got A/Bs on everything. Just pay attention and take good notes and study for the tests
This is an easy class if you actually study for it. I thought I could get away from not studying for the first test and I bombed it. she drops 1 out of 3 tests so it really easy to do well. Her lectures are really interesting but she does go through the whole time. She's really funny and made geology very interesting.
Attendance is mandatory via clicker, but most of the information from exams comes from lecture, so it is important that you go to class. Although exams were a bit difficult, I still learned a lot from this class. Taking good notes and studying them is a must and you will be successful if you do just that! Overall, great professor, definitely take!
She is a great professor, very passionate and funny. I looked forward to her lectures. She does make you work for your grade and definitely take good notes in class. No extra credit offered but overall a great class.
3 exams & cumulative final. Drop lowest exam but not the final. Online lectures are way too much, 8-11 hrs each, add the note taking on top of that. Hard exams/quizzs as answer choices are precise &vague. Interesting class but exhausting. She's very passionate, funny & helpful. A life changing course for sure. I worked by head off to get an A
This class consists of 4 exams and some online quizzes, your lowest test grade is dropped at the end of the semester. She is always available to help and attendance is not mandatory, but you will lose clicker points. She suggests you record lectures and listen to them before the test, which is time consuming, but so helpful.
This class was amazing. I love this professor so much! She makes class worth going to and even though the lectures are long, they are usually interesting. You do not need the book at all, and she even says that the tests and quizzes will only be on things that you have discussed in class. Just take decent notes and you will be fine.
Professor SacramentoGrilo is amazing. Her class was based on 3 exams, a final, and 6 assignments (5 quizzes, 1 report). The lowest exam grade is dropped (except the final, it can't be dropped). Besides the exams, the entire class is online and her lectures tell you everything you need to know on the exams. Straightforward and funny too.
Extremely smart and entertaining professor. Her class is super straightforward and she makes it clear that tests and quizzes are lecture based. Make sure you attend to get clicker points. Not an "easy A" but definitely obtainable if you go to lecture and understand the concepts.
She makes the lectures so interesting which makes it easy to learn the material. There is no homework assignments and the class is based on exams and online quizzes. Exams are based on her lectures, no TB is necessary so if you just study for her exams you will get an A. Also she's hilarious, I love this professor! would def recommend taking her.
Clickers, quizzes, and tests are pretty much the whole grade. Easy if you understand the material, pretty tough if not. Great lectures, interesting material and keeps students engaged.
I love professor Sacramentogrilo! Clicker questions every class so make sure to go. Online quizzes before exams are super easy. No homework. 3 exams plus a final, and she drops your lowest exam grade. You have to study for the exams but they are extremely fair. Exam material is everything covered in class.
This professor is one of my favorites at state. The class is really, really lecture heavy, but honestly, it wasn't too bad because she made the videos funny and engaging. Her sense of humor is strange but I liked it a lot, and she really seems to care about her students. Make sure to make a google doc to study for the exams bc they help!!
One of my favorite professors! Take detailed notes and watch all of the lectures and you'll do well on the exams. You do not need the book at all just the lectures and your notes. 10/10 would recommend. She makes the class fun and interesting.
Professor Sacramentogrilo knows what she's talking about. Tests are hard, but passable if you actually study. Lab for this class is super easy. You get clicker points for going to class, so go. She's really funny and will help you if you need it.
LOVE this professor. I was excited to go to her class bc she is such a good lecturer and keeps her students interested in every subject covered, and shes hilarious! Theres online quizes, clicker points, three tests and a final but she drops the lowest test. If you need any help in her class shes easily accessible. Shes an amazing professor 11/10!
LOVED HER! She is honestly so amazing and makes the lectures fun! she will crack jokes all the time. My favorite line is "Guaranteed to break the ice at parties". I loved having her as a prof and I hope to take another class with her soon. Show up to class bc attendance is part of your grade and it will help you for exams. SacramentoGrilo is a gem!
Awesome prof. There is probably about 8-10 hours of lectures to watch in between each test. 2 easy assignments if you follow her guidelines. Personally, all i did was watch the lectures and attend her 2 review sessions online before the tests. No other studying done b/c of other classes. I averaged B's. Put in some more effort and you will fine.
If you took Ocean100 take this! Its 90% oceanography so you'll have a big advantage. I mostly watched lectures the day before/of tests for new material and did well. 1 assignment, 1 syllabus quiz, 3 exams + final. She was great last semester still great this semester. Very knowledgeable and funny. "Guaranteed to break the ice at parties"
Do not take this class! The average was a 75 and she refused to curve because that was "too high". She is funny which is why many people previously gave her a good review but in terms of grading she is the worst professor I have ever had. Also the worst grade I've ever gotten in a class and I actually watched lectures and studied HARD.
She is super entertaining! However, exams are very difficult. Make sure to give yourself lots of time to study.
she is a brilliant geologist who knows what's up about the world! She's really witty and says small things, such as "guaranteed to break the ice at parties" (my favorite), that cracks the class up. It's so fun to attend class every day and receive the education we rightfully deserve. Her tests are specific so pay attention during lecture!
If you are a poor test taker DO NOT take this course. There is only 1 assignment and 4 tests that make up your entire grade. the tests are 75 questions a pop and are extremely difficult.
She is such a great professor. She answers every question students have and doesn't mind elaborating or going back to a subject to make sure each student understands everything. She is also really funny and makes the class really interesting. One of the best classes I have had here. Wheres the chili pepper rating? She would get straight FIRE.
This class was a perfect GE to take if you're not the best at sciences. Her lectures are very interesting, but she does use clickers for attendance. Honestly just go to class and pay attention you'll pass easily. I barely took notes and still have a B, she drops your lowest test score and theres never hw. Lab is easy as well. 10/10 recommend
I took this class simply for fun as I realized my knowledge of Earth science was lacking. Definitely one of the best decisions in college so far. Sacramentogrilo's lectures are phenomenal and very interesting, (which is good as attendance is mandatory and necessary). Tests aren't too hard if you show up, and I really think I learned a lot here.
Great teacher and pretty funny. If you use the study guide she supplies to you then you'll be fine. She will call you out if you're on your phone or sleeping. Good and interesting class too.
One of the best classes at State. Funny, interesting lectures and requires clicker for easy participation points. She will call you out if youre on your phone or leave early so try to avoid that. I really think everyone should take this class!
Easy professor to get your GE physical science out of the way. 3 exams and a final, but she drops your lowest test score out of the 3 exams. Lots of quizzes, and clicker questions every lecture so you have to go.
This woman is an icon. She came in stunting every morning with outfits that said "just off the jet from Europe". On the teaching side she is very funny and can be pretty entertaining, but definitely pay attention and take notes. If you can I would recommend choosing a lab time towards the end of the week so she covers the material before.
She provides the lectures all at once, so you go at your own pace. Then there's 3 exams and 1 final. She drops your lowest exam grade. However, you're only graded on those and 1 short assignment. She is very knowledgeable and funny, and her lectures are simple to follow. However, beware if you're bad at taking tests! She doesn't round final grades.
Im not a geo/envs/sust major but wanted to take this course. Lectures are somewhat long if you wait till last minute to watch, but they are awesome as she is funny and very interesting. Great lecturer. 3 tests (lowest is dropped) and a final .i thought test questions were tricky. Not easy but not hard. If you are not a good test-taker, use caution
Highly recommend! She is hilarious in her lectures, she makes the topic interesting which is good because you're learning about the solar system, rocks, atmosphere, and more. Make sure to take good notes during lecture and you should do fine!
The worst. The whole course is centered around lecture videos that are around an hour long. Theres about 10 lecture videos before each exam. Theres no assignments, only exams. Would not recommend if you are not a big test taker.
She is absolutely hilarious!! Though the subject may not be the most interesting, the class goes by quickly due to her humor and interaction with the class. If you want to pass, show up and study your butt off! p.s. Tests are just memorization of your lecture notes, so make sure to take great notes and I suggest notecards for studying.
This class can get dull but if you speed up the lectures you will be fine. Her tests can be hard because she words her questions hard. Just be careful when you take the tests (3 tests and final is mandatory, all in person). One assignment and syllabus quiz. Go to her office hours to review the test because she explains it well in person.
This class was difficult for me just because I am not a good test taker. If you do not go to class, you will NOT pass because everything on the exams is based on her lectures in class. She is a very nice lady who keeps class interesting, but do not take if you are not good at test taking.
She's cool and funny, but the class is pretty challenging and worse cause it's online. Exam questions can be too vague at times or the wording is off. Just watch every lecture, maybe twice if you want the A and go over your notes SEVERAL times. Quiz yourself and get ready to study a lot OR just take an easier course.
She is good teacher but you have to put in the effort to pass the class. She also takes attendance through clicker points but beware if you don't show up to class you probably won't do well. She drops one exam and the quizzes are easy if you take good notes.
Terrible teacher, 0/10 would not recommend.
Took her online but requires you to show up in class for tests. The tests are multiple choice scantron however the questions can get a little bit tricky with the wording. I'd categorize this class as an easy B and only a little bit more work for the A.
This teacher already has in mind what SHE wants based one exams and projects. She also makes disturbing jokes in her lecture which are borderline inappropriate. She has a project towards the end of the semester where the directions are so unreasonable. The class is interesting and yes she is a good teacher however her tests are worded confusingly.
shes honestly rude to her students when you email her about a question. NOT understanding at all. I would not recommend her to anyone with a soul. If you like to work above and beyond with ridiculous standards set with no exceptions, you'll love her. I did not...
4 tests she drops 1. Has 1 assignment out of 40 that she grades harshly on. Makes you use lockdown browser for online tests. Test questions were hard to understand. For each test we have around 8 video lectures, each one an hour long. Hard to know what you need to study when watching the videos. Wouldnt recommend for a easy GE class
This class seems simple: 4 exams (3 tests 1 final) lowest test gets dropped. One assignment where the average in the class was an 80% (tough grader). Every test there is about 8 one hour long lecture. For the final she only gives you TWO weeks to watch all 8 lectures and its worth 150 points where the other tests are worth 100. She's super critical
I'm not a great test taker, but she explains everything so well making it easy for us. Yes, her questions are worded difficult, but LECTURES ARE KEY!! Listen to what she says in lectures, the questions she asks, and the jokes she makes. Everything can be on the exam. You don't need a book, it's just LECTURES!!
Sacramentogrilo is really cool. She cannot tolerate ignorance which she makes really really clear. Lots of online lectures ( 8 hrs per exam) that you can speed to make them quicker without missing critical info (I did 2x and got everything I needed. Drops the lowest of 3 midterms. One geology report she grades strictly. Solid for upper GE Science.
SHE TAKES THIS STUPID CLASS WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. THERE'S BETTER GE CLASSES YOU CAN TAKE INSTEAD OF HERS. TOUGH GRADER, CONFUSING TEST QUESTIONS, WOULD NEVER TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES AGAIN
Funny (and stylish!) professor with interesting lectures, but I wouldn't recommend her if you are a weaker test-taker. Quizzes tend to predict how you'll do on the test. As many have said before me, just keep in mind that some of her test questions can be super memory-based (specific) or require decoding because of the wording. Take good notes!
Isabelle was super funny and very into the class. attendance is mandatory because she has clicker questions which count for many points a day. if you take heavy notes on the lectures than you'll be fine for the tests. the tests are pretty hard though but only based off the lectures and nothing else. the class is super interesting
I took this class online with a full schedule and it was very doable. Her lectures are super interesting and she makes it easy for non-majors to understand the material. There are 4 exams and one fairly easy assignment. She drops the lowest exam grade that isn't the final. I definitely recommend this class if you need to fulfill a GE requirement.
Most amazing professor ever! Every single test question is based on lectures and lectures only. No textbook was needed. I took really good notes and paid really good attention to lectures and I passed the class with a High B. She is really funny and overall a very well knowledged Professor. I would definitely take again. Extremely recommend!!!!
I LOVED taking her oceans class! while my lab instructor was not fantastic, she helped me catch mistakes to gain points in my scores and her tests are very straightforward. If you are a good notetaker, you will breeze through this class. She gives good examples and makes it clear what she expects from students
This class put me in the position where I had to give thought if I wanted to continue my university path. This class was beyond awful, the professor would have horrible lectures and was very awkward in her pre-recorded lectures. The test/quizzes were filled with wordy and misleading questions, they were tricky. Don't make my mistake, pass on this.
This professor just posted lectures that were pretty interesting, not too long and self paced which I did not mind. Seemed pretty distant most of the time but was not a tough class. Listen to the lectures, take good notes and pass!
She was so funny and also very sweet. You can tell she knows a lot about what she teaches and that she enjoys it. Her lectures were informative and really interesting. You take 4 exams, a final, and you do a tectonic report project. She drops your lowest test score and the exams are fully from lecture, you dont need a textbook.
LOVE HER!! Sacramento-McJilton is one of the best professors at SDSU. There are 4 exams and 1 final (lowest exam score is dropped) and it is very lecture heavy. You must watch the lectures and take detailed notes if you want to do well. The good thing is that the information is so interesting and cool to learn about, makes you want to pay attention
Made lectures pretty entertaining. Clicker questions. Made material pretty easy to understand. Labs sucked.
You really have to pay attention to her lecture videos to do really well on the exams. Thankfully for me I found them very engaging and entertaining. She has review sessions before exams and they are VERY helpful, seriously go to them. Wish I could have taken this class in person
made me question whether university was worth it, not worth it take a different course
Such an awesome class with great lectures. Really made me more knowledgeable on the subject. I still think about the course material to this day and I'm not even a Geology major. Her lectures are long, prerecorded and full of information so take notes on everything. I watched the lectures days before each test to remember the info better.
If you are contemplating taking this class, don't. This professor was one of the worst professors I have ever had and I have never gotten such a low grade in a class ever! She is super harsh on her students and seems like she doesn't care about our wellbeing or success at all. She has super hard quizzes and tests almost every week.
She's harsh and doesn't really listen to student concerns (when they're struggling and ask for accommodations). She basically gives the lab TA's free rein which gets frustrating when it comes to grades because some put them in and others don't, so you take the practicals without knowing what you did right and wrong. Wouldn't recommend.
this class is split into two sections, in the professors section you have lectures, quizzes, &exams, in the TA section, you have labs and the practicals. She has no idea whats happening in the TA section and has no control over those grades. everything but the labs are super difficult. the grades for the labs and practicals are put in last minute
Way harder than it needs to be, the lab is way easier than the actual class though. Heavy on tests and quizzes.
Please do no take this class she is an awful professor, does not care to help you. I struggled so much because she was not accommodating whatsoever. She grades super heavily and does not accept late work. I suggest taking anyone else but her. Also she gives you barely anytime to study so beware
I took this class online during covid. She is very passionate about Oceanography and tells you everything you need to know for tests during her lectures. Taking good lecture notes and studying them is a MUST, and if you do that well then you will do well in the class. For online school, she did optional lectures right before tests which was helpful
This class was really difficult, but her lectures are KEY make sure to take detailed notes. I didn't read the textbook since the information on the exams + quizzes were in her lectures.
Professor Sac was a solid choice. Note taking on EVERYTHING she mentions in her recorded lectures is essential to pass her quizzes and tests. 4 tests and 5 quizzes in total. She takes down your lowest score on any of the tests. VERY interesting class, at least for me. Labs for this class are tedious, but easier than other science courses. No HW.
Honestly I feel like this teacher just did many things to make our lives unnecessarily difficult. We had to use respondus lockdown browser to take a syllabus quiz, which also asked arbitrarily specific information. Were we supposed to memorize the syllabus verbatim? Did the teacher think she did a good job and this was practical to have memorized??
The professor seems like a nice person OUTSIDE of class. But she makes our lives so difficult. Whatever you do, do not take her. She doesnt want you to learn, she wants to make your life miserable. I dont think she realizes that most of us took this class for a GE. Feels like theres a midterm every week. Save urself the misery.
Take this class if you want to be miserable. So many lectures and so much material. Also take this class if you want to be afraid of everything. Shes made me scared to be in parking garages, drive on freeways, travel to other countries, etc. Now Im afraid to even study in the library because she said its unsafe. Not cool
after taking other geo classes she is one of the worst teachers for this topic her test has little to do with her lecture, she bases her grade on a project and 5 exams which is all hard compared to another geo teach. she doesn't help her student a lot and expect the student to do all the work themselves. if u miss a test she won't cant and you fail
the professor will ask questions she specifically told the class she won't be testing, no late acceptance, she doesn't give extensions to students even for good reasons, she does not really reply to email or appear to care about her student a lot. she is a tough grader with no extra credit or gives out assignments so if you do bad on a few you fail
take geo and science from this teacher if you want to be miserable she is the worst teacher in the geo department she does not care about her students or their grades she will give a exam once every 2 weeks and that is almost it for grades and the exam are hard which covers everything even things she told the class she wont be testing
the tags ive selected is the opposite of this profession!!!! don't take her for geo she only base her grades on the exam which is hard and she don't appear to care about her class all that much just going through the motion maybe because it is online but access to her is hard she does not help students or reply email
she makes it hard for students to ask questions in class and outside of class. test on things she told the class she won't be testing, her test is extremely hard, the class average is 70%, and its an online class so almost everyone cheats.
For your own good, please avoid her. Entering the semester, I saw all the bad reviews he had but thought How bad could it be? Well, it is terrible. she is an unhelpful, man and she tests things she told us she won't be testing she makes sudden changes while not emailing the class. she is by far the worst teacher for geo take other teachers class
I loved her. Class made up of 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. If you just go to class and take good notes her class is a breeze and you will only have to study a little to get good grades. Don't bother getting the textbook even though she says to. The class Is really interesting and actually enjoyable.
lectures are very entertaining! i don't recommend picking a class section where your lab is before your lecture because you won't understand anything in the lab. taking a lot of detailed notes will help you in this class. prof is very passionate about this subject!
She is a great lecturer and obviously very passionate about her subject, but taking thorough notes and attending every lecture is essential to passing the class. Graded on very few things which I don't like and says her tests don't have trick questions but they are often very tricky.
She cares about her students clearly and is very easy to get ahold of to ask questions and go over material. You have a total of 5 tests, lowest grade dropped and one assessment report (400+ words) which is the hardest thing you'll do. Just take lots of notes on lecture, everything on her tests are from the slides. Tough grader; specific questions
I absolutely love professor Sacramentogrilo because she made me excited to go to class, she is funny and laid back, and cares a lot about what she teaches. If I could I would take one of her classes again because it was something I looked forward to on tues/thurs. We had 3 tests in class and a final research paper of our choice. Def recommend!
Probably some of the best lectures ever. Very interactive with animations and real-world examples with the occasional hint of dark humor. Intersting subject. 5 tests, there is not final but each test builds on top of each other. You have about 2-4 weeks to watch 8 lectures. All under an hour. Watch the lectures and study and you will pass.
I was scared of her my first day, but she is honestly such a good professor and is funny. Her class is actually interesting, especially for being a GE. Her tests are lecture material, and you do have to study for them, but as long as you study, it's easy. She thoroughly explains everything and makes memorable connections between concepts.
10/10. Grades are based on tests and at-home quizzes, but she drops the lowest test and gives great study guides. Go to class, take good notes, study, and you'll do amazing and ACTUALLY LEARN! Your grade is entirely up to you. She's hilarious and super engaging - you'll look forward to going to class. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!
This is my second time taking this professor (previously for Oceans100) so u can already tell she's good. Exams are ENTIRELY lecture based, so take good notes of EVERYTHING she says, even her little comparisons. Lectures are interesting! Drops lowest midterm (not the final)! After this class I will never see geologic and atmospheric events the same
Dont get me get me wrong I loved her class but god im terrible at tests. theres no homework and your grade is based ONLY on 4 tests and 4 quizzes. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE BAD AT TEST TAKING.
you don't need the textbook if you go to every lecture and take notes. never had a boring lecture, and actually looked forward to going to her class. grade is mainly based on the tests and lab
This was the hardest class I've ever taken. I studied a week in advance for all her exams and still ended up with an A-. The professor is funny but she goes really fast so you have to write down everything on her slides and everything she says at the same time. Attendance is not mandatory but if you want to pass you need to attend every lecture
This class was my favorite class this semester. Professor Sacramento gives amazing lectures that make the criteria very understandable. She makes the lectures fun and interactive. It is important to show up to class and take notes. Copying notes from a friend will not give you the information needed. Make sure to study in advanced for tests.
Look at other options if you can or take it with a friend. You learn about ocean life towards the end, everything else is more complex topics. Everything is based on her lectures only so you NEED to take A LOT of GOOD notes. You must put in the work in order to pass this class. This was my number 1 stress out of all my classes but still passed!

You must put in the work in order to pass this class. This was my number 1 stress out of all my classes but still passed! She tries her best in lecture
Class is divided in lecture and lab. She lectures the whole time and you must attend and study to pass. Textbook is not mandatory, but helpful to have to study for quizzes and tests. She has some you can borrow if you decide to get one. Overall its a challenging class, but everything you learn is very interesting.

My biggest issue with this class/professor is that all of the exams are on Friday nights from 6-7:30pm. If you can't take the test, you will get a 0 on it. There is no room for compromise either. If this is something that would cause an issue for you, do NOT take this class. You have been warned. Super inconvenient
the tests are really hard and use a lot of trick questions/ convoluted language so it's easy to get things wrong. exams are scheduled friday nights and she does not let you work around it. Lectures are really long and very content heavy. NOT easy and not a very kind professor either. Avoid at all costs
If you are looking for an easy A, look another way... All her exams are based of her lectures which are about 1 hour long and there is about 8 of them. I failed the 2 exams I am currently semi passing which sucks...Her exams are semi-difficult. goodluck..
Would not take her class again!! She had test on Friday nights and would offer no make ups or reschedule for any conflict. She drops on exam but if you miss one on purpose she docks your grade 20%. had to miss an exam for a family emergency, and she offered no condolences or make-up options.
Attendance is technically not mandatory but you HAVE to go to do well unless someone records lectures for you. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about this topic which makes learning helpful. I say opt-out of the book it's never used. Her exams are 100% lecture and one is dropped. Labs are not too bad 2 are dropped. Recommend for a lab class
I LOVED this class. I took ocean100 before so I already knew most of the stuff. There were 4 exams + cumulative final (which is mostly q's from the last module). The only thing i didn't like was taking tests at 6pm on Fridays, which had me stressing all day. Lectures are very organized. Prof also holds review sessions an hour before test
I highly recommend GEOL303 to fill the natural sciences requirement. No required textbook, and exams are 100% lecture-based. The prof makes the content really interesting, so I enjoyed this class. Write down *everything* she says in lectures, and take notes on the video she uses. As long as you take detailed notes on ALL lectures, this is an easy A
Overall, this class was a pleasant experience and Prof. Sacramento is a great teacher. While not an easy class by any means, her teaching style was extremely effective and the exams were absolutely based on what was taught in class lectures. I would absolutely recommend this professor.
this class just sucked if you are not going to go to class or miss any lectures you are incredibly screwed. I barely passed the class with a 72.1 and needed a 72 because the tests were very difficult. If you are a dumb business major like me don't take this class take the class at a community college or something for ur lab.
Her lectures are extremely important to success in this class. She seems to really care about the material and makes each class funny and interesting making it easier to actually go to class 3 times a week. If I could give any advice for this is class it would be to GO TO CLASS and TAKE NOTES...as many as possible.
Took this class to fulfill natural sciences, it was an online 6 weeks, so the course work was heavy. 1 test every week and 8 lectures a week were recorded for almost an hour each. It was interesting but I never got higher than a C on an exam, is studied for hours and attended pre-test zoom.
She never followed the syllabus, the tests were extremely hard and she just had no flexibility and did not seem to care about students well-being
Professor really cares about the student's understanding of the material, the exams are 100% from the lecture, so you need to show up everyday and take notes. Taking notes is easy because she reads it from the screen, all you have to do is copy it. 3 midterms and a final, she drops the lowest of the 3 midterms.
This is the kind of prof that wants you to have a hard time in her class. She doesnt upload lab grades until the class is over which makes it hard to know your grade. Theres 3 exams all VERY LECTURE HEAVY. TAs really help but over all she gives you a really hard time.
Yes this is a hard class, BUT if you need to take a science class take this one. She is funny and makes her lectures genuinely interesting. I went into this class knowing literally nothing about oceans and my lowest grade was an 86 on one of the tests. Write down everything and listen carefuly and you'll pass with a B+ at least.Labs are also easy A
4 exams and a final, a report, and a quiz. Write down everything she says on her lecture videos, videos are about 45 mins long and there's about 6-8 lecture videos per section (sometimes didn't include captions so it was difficult to understand), exam questions are difficult! Not an easy A.
Great instructor, a little difficult because it is a lot of material but as long as you attend each lecture and take good notes you will pass. Drops your lowest test grade which is very helpful. Her study guides are great as well. She is also very funny. The only assignments are 4 quizzes and 4 exams so it is very test heavy. There is no homework
This professor was one of my favorites. She is so funny and makes lectures very interesting. Go to every lecture because your notes are everything. She basically gives you test answers in class so write down pretty much everything and always attend. If you do her study guides thoroughly, you will get an A on the exams and final. TAKE THIS CLASS!
My favorite professor, made me love geology enough to switch to the major! She doesn't take attendance but the class is lecture-based and she doesn't post videos online, she's hilarious and super sarcastic so it's not boring. Grades are based on quizzes and tests, but pretty easy if you take good notes and study! Don't need to get a textbook.
This class quickly became my favorite, this professor makes her lectures engaging and is really funny. Attend class because she covers a lot in one lecture & anything covered in lecture is fair-game for the exam. If you're confused, go to her office hours, she's always open to helping you. If you put in the work, you'll be successful in this class.
test are HARDDDDD she gives no hw but the test are only 50 min for 60-70 questions on paper grades are pretty much based on the 5 tests
You need to how up to class, every question on the test is 100% taken from her lectures, and you mostly can't find the answers to them without going. Take good notes and actually listen to the lecture and you will be good.
Graded by 4 exams (bulk of grade), 2 quizzes, 1 paper, and 1 cumulative final. Drops your lowest exam grade. This was an extremely interesting class and Professor Sacramentogrillo's lectures were super engaging and concise - I was never bored! Only took this course for natural science exploration requirement but ended up learning a lot! TAKE HER!!!
I loved this course. Her lectures are very interesting. Grade is mostly made up of tests and quizzes. If you go to class and take solid notes, you will be fine. I recommend printing out the slides and directly doing notes on there. I would definitely take her again!
took this professor for Ocean100 too and I liked that class because I was interested in it. my GEOL303 was fully online; honestly was not hard but you actually need to watch lectures for the exams because merely EVERYTHING she says in online lectures is testable. you have to be a good note taker for this course.
This class was made up of 4 exams (one gets dropped), one written assignment, one quiz, and one final. The exams are all based directly off what she says in the lecture videos so you need to watch them to do good. The exams also can be pretty tough. The lecture videos are spoken at a fast pace but are filled with really cool information.
i really liked her, but i struggled with how test heavy cumulative grades were. as someone who is not good with tests, i struggled to keep my grade up, but she makes lectures quite entertaining. show up to class, study, and complete all of the lab assignments, and you'll be fine! if you're not a great test taker like me, it will be more challenging
I really liked her class but there is a lot of material but she would make it clear for you to understand but if you are a bad test taker do not take this class. This class is based on 4 quizzes which you will not find the answers online so you have to study beforehand and 3 exams with 50 questions but one is dropped and a final.
Professor Sacramento has her lectures very detailed and sometimes it is hard to figure out what might be tested. Her study guides are helpful, and attendance is KEY.
This class is generally easy, but it is very lecture heavy. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss a class you will be so lost. Make friends in the class to get notes. The quizzes and midterms especially make up so much of your grade. She moves very quick. If you learn well in lectures and just by notes this class will be good for you.
Genuinely my favorite class I have taken at sdsu. She is a great professor and makes all the lectures so interesting that you want to go.
Professor sets up all students for success, but it is up to you if you want to do good. Her exams are directly from the lectures. Lectures and recordings are not posted in Canvas so you really have to go to class. Her lectures are really interesting and kinda funny too. Take notes directly onto the slides she posts and you will do well.
Overall Sacramento is a good person, but her class was super super difficult. She is an extremely tough grader and be prepared to put in the most amount of work. I put in as much as I could given my mental state and amount of other classes I had, but it was still really hard.
This class was hard. You have to put in time. She is a hard grader, but very knowledgeable and excited about the class.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR. Not good at taking tests, this is not the class for you. Grading system of 400 points. We have 3 midterms, she drops your lowest score. Midterms are worth 100, So Half Your Grade. 6 quizzes, you take outside of class, are only worth 70. And the Final is worth 130. She offers no extra credit and is very rude to students.
Do Not Take Her Class. Half your grade is the midterms. And the Final will bring you up or down a Whole Letter Grade. If you are not able to attend every lecture, you will miss a lot of information and not do well in the class. Her tests are written in her own words, multiple choice, and are worded in a way that is meant to trick you.
VERY DIFFICULT. Hardest GE I've ever taken. Class took up a LOT of my time. 3 midterms (1 dropped) and a final. Tests are difficult and questions are extremely tough. If you are not a good test-taker, do NOT take this class! You must study constantly to succeed. Very strict and and so many rules. Lectures are interesting and informative. Stressful.
Out of 300 students I think only 100 passed with B+ or a C. 4 Exams one dropped a midterm and a final and a quiz before the final. Tests are very very difficult and questions are extremely tough. You must study constantly to succeed. Very strict and so many rules. Out of 300 students I think only 100 passed with B+ or a C.
3 exams each worth 100pts (1 dropped); 1 final worth 115pts, 6 quizzes worth 10pts each. Lectures are tedious but amazing. Professor is funny, nice, but strict in terms of class expectations. Requires studying if not good at memorizing and taking many notes. Recommend using slides from lecture and voice recording lectures to review or missed a def.
Honestly loved this professor. Best advice is to make friends in class and exchange notes because if you miss a lecture you will be LOST. 3 in person midterms and 1 final. They're sort of tough but if you pay attention enough during class and skim the study guide before the test you'll survive. She's funny, and content is interesting!
good class to take for science + lab requirement. JUST GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES!!! she gives out test answers in class so make sure to take note of that. also make friends in class incase you are unable to make it a day. for the lab there are practicals you can't miss so be aware of that!
strict professor requires you to attend every lecture or else you'll do horribly in tests. Calls out people on their phones, talking, or not paying attention. She's lowkey kind of mean and talks way too fast, making it difficult to take notes. Doesn't cancel lectures unless she really needs too (which is never).
Exams are UNREASONABLY difficult for a ge. Graded on 5 exams. Each exam is composed from 10 hours+ of lecture videos. Will need to take intensive detailed notes just to get a C on an exam. This is difficult when every lecture is a sleep speed run. Do not take.
In love with her she is so funny and her lectures are so interesting. It honestly was a hard class though, she says a lot of things during her lectures that aren't on the slides that are on the tests, so you need to take really good notes and come to class everyday otherwise you won't do as well. She doesn't let you take notes on a laptop tho
She's strict, and hard, and doesn't let you take notes on laptops. But after that, all you need to do is show up to class and make friends who will tell you what you missed. If you don't go to class, you're not gonna pass, but if you do, she's one of the funniest and most entertaining lecturers I've ever had. Total goat, but hard course.
She is a great instructor, showing up to class and taking notes is really important, otherwise there is no way you pass the class. Graded out of exams, no extra work or extra credit offered. She does not allow taking notes on other than a notebook, no devices. Her lectures are really good and funny. She is an amazing teacher.
There was close to 32 lectures, so specifically outlined topics that wanted addressing ought to be put in a rubric as opposed to a mere "in great detail". There already isn't a lot of assignments, and with the report consisting of a huge portion of our grade, it'd be great to know just how exactly a report she wanted ought to be/not assumed.
A more clear and concise rubric for the tectonic report is needed and its not funny. You receive a fleshed out description of what it is she wanted AFTER turning in the assignment. And you would've had no idea just what exactly it is she wanted until you receive your graded work which you cannot fix. If certain things are expected, LIST IT OUT.
Atrocious. Too many videos and not even a textbook to help understand the concepts. Expect you to be an expert after 8 videos in a module. No matter how many notes you've taken, you'll at most get a C on an exam. She knows she's tedious as well since she makes a video of a rock falling on her at the end because she gave out harsh grades on a report
She's a hilarious professor and her lectures are honestly pretty entertaining. Missing a lecture will seriously put you behind though because tests are very lecture-heavy in material. Honestly a pretty hard class but if you show up and study well you'll be fine.
She's a great professor who cares about her students. English is not her strongest language but just bear with her. Print out the slides she provides, they help understand the course better. Take notes on the small details she talks about. This entire course is test and quiz-heavy, Test 2 is the most difficult of them all.
She's a quirky professor. I personally did not like her humor or teaching style, but the class was pretty easy to pass with minimal studying. The class is loosely structured based on the textbook, but the only way to do well is to attend lecture and take notes on what she discusses.
If you watch the lectures, you should be able to pass this class, tests can be hard but you can pass if you study watch the videos, and take good notes. The teacher is very caring and wants her students to pass. Put in some work and you will do good.
she must of taken down all the bad reviews because all of sdsu knows not to take. worst TA for lab, and every single test is extremely hard; you have to show up to class every day for notes. Labs are graded by randomly taking of points, and practicals were super hard- my TA didn't provide any support, nor grade anything till the day of the final.
i had the bad TA and ended with a 89.7 overall in the class and she refused to round my grade when the entire course (25% lab grade) wasn't graded until the FINAL test day. I got points added to somehow make up for it, then refused to round me? please just take bio for GE she is the only ocean professor. topics are interesting but way too hard GE.
She is an overall very funny and great person. There are a couple quizzes at the beginning of the semester that just test your knowledge on stuff you should know before but you have multiple tries. The class is VERY LECTURE HEAVY. She will take things from the lecture and put them directly into test. If you want to pass, GO TO CLASS
She was a good professor overall, really engaging during lectures. You could tell she put effort into her classes and cares about the subject deeply. Be prepared to go to lecture that is the key to getting a good grade in this class. She seems tough at first but she really is super nice once the course gets going. I recommend!
Would recommend for the summer online course if science comes easily to you. Grades on 4 exams plus final and essay project. Lowest exam dropped. I succeeded by taking copious notes and annotating them. Her humor/jokes during lecture can be a bit much but good overall. Wish there were more pop quiz practice questions.
Quirky but demanding professor. Frequent class attendance is a must to keep up with the fast-paced lectures and non-textbook content. Unstuckstudy AI proved invaluable for exam prep alongside my study group.
I found her teaching style difficult to connect with, as it was quite rigid. She adhered strictly to her rules during class. While the tests were manageable if you studied, missing class made it significantly harder. I think that she put too much significance in a GE course.
Take this class!!! It's online, with about 6-8 lectures per unit, 4 units/exams (including the final), and one written assignment. The professor's lectures are interesting and she's also pretty funny. As long as you manage your time appropriately, and take detailed notes this class will be a breeze. Easiest upper division GE I've ever taken
Although this class is hard for no reason, the professor takes it way too serious for a GE, its an okay class and your grade will depend on you, although its hard the professor does provide you the resources needed for the quizzes and exams, she provides study guides and quizzes for the exam, purely lecture based, no homework assignments
Super funny woman, made lecture engaging. Lots of material, does a good job of breaking it down though. Take handwritten notes & REWRITE THEM!! Not difficult material, just a large amount. English is not her first language, but does a damn good job anyway. Graded on practice 4 quizzes & 4 tests, but lowest score is dropped. Loved her as a GE
I took this professor for OCEAN 100 and loved her teaching style. Her lectures are always interesting to watch as she provides case studies and videos of natural disasters. There are 4 midterms and a comprehensive final, with only one homework assignment. If you are interested in natural disasters, I urge you to take her course, I learned so much!
Very difficult topics so prepare to come to all her classes! Attending her lectures is important since she doesn't put any words on her slides to encourage attendance. She is a great teacher and acknowledges those who make efforts.
Really fun/interesting class. 5 exams all lecture based, one main quiz and assignment (critiqued heavily). One exam dropped (except final). Professor really accessible, no textbook required, made the class really fun and furthered my interest in geology:)
Overall a decent professor, she does care about the material and does not have much homework to offer. There are 4 exams 1 drop and a final. The class is perfect if you're just trying to fill out a class that does not take much time or effort. All classes are online no zoom meeting and fairly an easy class would recommend
She grades very difficult for a low level geology class. Four pretty challenging exams with a ton of material. Also does not round or curve at all. Would stay away.
About of 3.5 hrs of lectures per unit/test. Spent about 4 hrs of work for each test. As long as you actually pay attention for the lectures and take a decent bit of notes you should get a good grade on tests. Lectures are pretty interesting. I watched all lecture videos 24 hrs before the test, making it easier to remember everything.
I would highly suggest taking a different physical science. Grade is based almost entirely on exams (one dropped) as well as lab grade and a few quizzes. Professor can be funny at times and she is nice, but class is Lecture heavy and no assignments or extra credit are offered to help boost grade.
Class is extremely difficult even if you show up for class. Grades are based only off 3 midterm exams, one final that is worth 23% of your grade, 4 small quizzes worth 10 points and lab grade. No other assignments are given to help boost your grade. Highly suggest taking a different physical science!! Not worth your time/energy to take this class.
Professor Sacramento is extremely knowledgeable, and her class is hilarious but tough. I love her jokes, and the content was so interesting. I learned a lot of new things about the world. Overall, the class was very good; it was just a little hard, but if you put in the effort, you will do well.
Horrible professor. I think she thinks we're all going to change our major to ocean and get a PhD in oceanography. It's a 100 level course but acts like its an upper division. She does the absolute most and is strict for no reason. I regret taking this class everyday but I'm happy it's over.
One of my absolute favorite professors. She is very passionate about everything she teaches and I found everything to be super interesting and loved the class. There are about 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. Pro Tip: record her lectures, listen to them while you go over notes, and look at provided slides. Highly recommend this diva.
Easily my favorite class, both because of the content and the professor. Graded on 4 quizzes, 3 tests (one dropped) and a final. Taken concurrently with lab which combines with the final overall grade. If you show up, take notes, and study you can pass this class. There is no homework. Sacramento is also hilarious. Take this class if you can!
The slides in Canvas did not contain the same information as the lectures. The study guides did not provide enough information for the final and exam 2. I had an 89.93 and it was not rounded up if that is a final factor for some people.
The way she taught the class caught your attention and made the time go by so fast. One thing is the tests were kinda hard. There are no other assignments other than the few quizzes that aren't worth much and the 3 big tests plus one big final.
3 midterms and one final, all based on lecture material. Hard to catch up if you even miss one lecture. The study guide in my hardest classes is extensive and doesn't cover everything on the test. Even though the class was hard and the professor was intimidating, it's a fascinating class. You'll be good as long as you attend and study well.
very good lecturer and she makes the subject interesting, but i really am not a fan of how she does tests- no notes, no makeups, and memorization-heavy of small details, so it feels less like an assessment of my knowledge and more of an assessment of how much fact I can recall. also hard to catch up if you miss even one class.
As a straight A student, I had a hard time with this class. She required handwritten notes. She does drop your lowest test grade. Her tests are VERY detailed so be prepared to study a lot/come to class. Our class average for all tests was a C. I found the class interesting but not the best bc I was so worried about my grade.
This professor is very funny, but her classes are extremely difficult. On the last test, most students did not do well. She is a very tough grader and is not understanding whatsoever -- she will take points off if you miss class even if you are having an emergency. I'd try to avoid this professor if possible, as it is hard to get a decent grade.
I had this class Mon, Wed, Fri. and never skipped a day because her tests are SOLELY from lecture. notes are hand written and the sooner you start studying the better. it might sound difficult but i enjoyed alot and learned so much! Alot of the learning is just basics of the concept and does not go too in depth which made it easier, take her class!
I recommend this professor for Ocean 100, she was always very passionate about every topic and her lectures were engaging. Although she does not take attendance, it is recommended to attend every class since all her exams are based on lectures. This class is easy as long as you take good notes, attend lecture, attend lab, and study for exams.
Class was taken online. A lot of material is covered. Most of your grade comes from 5 exams. Her lectures are relevant and interesting. Great class to take for gen ed requirement.
She's hilarious and her lectures are entertaining. However, the class is difficult. There's 3 midterms and the lowest is dropped. I also recommend going to office hours because the 1 on 1 helps, and it can help you with material you don't know. Also a majority of the tests are based off of lecture, so take good notes. Do well on practicals.
I took her Natural Disasters course and it was delightful. Even though it was online, the content stuck with me. Her humor and style of presentation makes the content memorable, and the content itself is fascinating. The class isn't too difficult since the material is pretty fundamental, but it does a great job at whetting the palate for more
i love her. she is so fun and an entertaining lecturer and super passionate about her topic. super interesting class and the tests can be hard but with enough studying itll be ok. can take up some time and effort outside of class but if you go to lecture and really true to understand the topics i reccomend the class.
prof is really really funny but didn't really love the class. normally avoid science classes bc i don't do well but needed it for the credit. easy enough but def need to study for tests. lab was good and ta was super young and friendly.
This class is very lecture heavy, attendance not mandatory but you should attend as what's on the exam is taught during class. She posts slides but they aren't very helpful if you didn't attend. Exams are very detailed, you must study!! When she says to study a little bit every day...you should do that. Class average test score is 67%...!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Do not take t
This class was great! Youre only graded on exams throughout the semester. There are 4 (the lowest one gets dropped) + 1 final. Your only homework is watching lectures per module which the exams are exactaly on. Its not as bad as it sounds because the exams are super easy and kind of common sense. It was great learning about these topics of geology!
I honestly loved this course. If you do not like taking notes this is DEFINITLY NOT the course for you because the notes are not posted. Super test heavy but the lectures are engaging and Sacramentogrilo makes the content exciting to learn. There are 4 Exams and 1 is dropped, and there is a final, and that is basically your whole grade.
She is so nice, talks kinda fast, and throws in jokes here and there. Make sure you pay attention to what she says in class and take good notes. Everything will be on the exams.
Find another class to fulfill your science requirement
Going into this class I was really scared because I'm not good at any STEM related classes whatsoever. Her lectures are very engaging and interesting, and it turned out to be my favorite course of the semester. This being said my lowest grade on an exam was an 89.5 and the rest I scored high on and I'm barely passing with an A
She is a cool professor who is really helpful. Nonetheless, this class is not a walk in the park. This class gave me my first C grade in college. If you understand the material very well and take good notes, you should do better than I did. DO NOT LET ALL THE 5-STAR RATINGS FOOL YOU ON RMP, CAUSE I DID.
LECTURE HEAVY! She doesn't let you use technology, you need a physical notebook to write notes, and you need to write good notes. There are 5 tests: 4 are "midterms," and the lowest one is dropped at the end of the semester. A handful of take-home quizzes that you can easily cheat on, but missing even one lecture can be detrimental to your grade.
