The worst teacher you could ever have. All he does is read from the book and that's good teaching to him. He's lazy and should be taking teaching 101 instead of teaching.
lab was cool teacher little strict, but labs were easy
May be he knows about Organic, but he does not know how to teach.
Very conceited. Has no sympathy for the student. You have to have your PhD in chemistry to get a decent grade in his class.
This was a fun class. He grades the labs sheets very liberally....but watch out for the exams. Study for the exams. Have fun with the labs.
Very great professor. If you fail, it's all on you. His test are easy, only if you study. Nice guy, had alot of fun in his class. He helps students out on the tests by giving about 5 extra questions on every test. What more can you ask for?! I knew nothing about chm and left with alot and also passed with an A. You will learn alot! Very recommendab
One of the worst teachers in the college, DO NOT take his class, unless u wanna fail!! Very rude, doesn't help, If u ask a question, he asks u that same by asking you"What do you mean by such and such" Doesnot review chapters, if it is done, it is gone in the past. You will fail his class!!!
He is a horrible professor, very sarcastic and with a huge attitude problem. He is not helpfyll at all. If you have the choice not to take him please do it, we need teachers that are willing to help not to be sarcastic and run over chapters just to cover material.
He is not a teacher!!! He only read from the book
He's very sacrastic!
this is the worst professor in the state of florida. his classes are barely full because no one wants to register for his classes. i dont undersatnd why they havent fired him yet, he is only collecting a pay check. he runs over chapters, you can barely understand what he is saying, he is not helpful in class or during office hours. he is awful.
he tells you exactly what you need...just do it and you'll be fine. His accent makes it kinda hard and also he's kinda rude.
God help you! lol
worst professor i have ever had. dont take him
This man is so concieted until it is hilarious!!!At first he got on my last nerve but eventually I got used to him and started liking his class. You can guarantee a laugh every class...LOL..For those of you who don't like chemistry "If you listen, you will learn"..and 4those who really dont like Chemistry "God Help You"!(Two of his favorite quotes)
I took him for Chm1045L, he is horrible! His jokes are mean, not JOKES at all, he doesn't want to help any of his students, ever. If you miss his instructions, or are unclear about anything, he won't help you, and he'll make fun of you for asking. I took him as a last resort, all other labs were taken, I know why now!
He is the worst chemisty teacher i've ever had. He will race through chapters, doesn't like it when students ask questions, and is annoyed when the class asks him to please email a review (which at the beginning of the class he said he would gladly do). He's very a difficult person and shouldn't be teaching w/ such a nasty attitude for everything!
LOL i am taking his class now! He is SO funny lol! GOD HELP YOU ppl if you ask him a question LOL
Dr. U is amazing! He likes the students who work hard and are on top of things! Be prepared for class and his class will turn out to be a lot of fun! When he talks, he isn't yelling, he just talks loud. He is a really nice person and pretty fun! Take him!! Just work hard and you can get an A!
He is a great teacher, just pay attention to what he says and turn your work in on time. I took him for CHM 1033 lab and he was helpful, he has an accent, but he is easily understood. If you are super sensitive and don't like criticism don't take his class because he will embarrass you in front of everyone. Take his class you will learn somethin
This professor isn't very nice. He's very sarcastic with students making them feel stupid. Became nicer but still was very difficult to understand due to his accent. He doesn't like students asking questions and sometimes can't answer a question and will brush it off.
minius the personality the man is mean. Half the students that were in his class droped. Have you ever heard of a professor you can not ask a question to. Chemistry is not an easy subject, you need to ask questions. Whats the point of a professor who will not answer your questions. Miami dade needs to get rid of him.
This professor is difficult, however, just like most science classes, you have to STUDY!! This is not the class to take if you want a free A!! You must study for this professor's class to pass! I have a B+ average right now for his 6 week course. Again, I study a lot!5% of your grade comes from your attendance, so go to class! No xtra credit given
God help you if you take this course! (inside joke to anyone who's ever had Dr. U) He is VERY knowledgeable in chemistry and is a great professor. You will likely need extra help, as he tends to rush through the material. Then again I am taking the 6-week summer session. Maybe he's different in a full length semester.
do not take this professor if u want to pass with B or A.
i took him 6 week class ( For Lab....WARNING! dont take him!! i did not listen to rate my professor this time , and i regretted..................dont take it if you want a C, B, OR A ...WORST EVER....TRUST ME YOU WOULD NOT GET AN A, OR B maybe a C MOST of the time a D
OK, I have to comment on this prof because I see a lot of negative feedback, obviously from immature and irrational students. If you are just getting out of high school and think college is high school, I tell you what, don't go to college. You need a little more maturing. This is the most logical teacher in this school. Msg continued.
Very organized, disciplined and logical teacher. If you don't like to study on your own don't take him. If you are willing to put in the effort to practice the material (YES! it is chm) then you will learn a lot. Great teacher he's like a book, but you do have to study. The negative FB is from young lazy students trust me. I got an A in 6 wk course
This prof. is extremely hard. I took his lab course. He doesn't answer any questions. He expects you to have read the material prior to class & to know everything. midterm and finals are fill in the blank no multiple choice.
I took him for Lab. His midterm and final is fill in the blanks. He's extremely hard. You can't ask questions & if you do, he doesn't answer them. His tests are based on the experiments & what you learn in lecture.
This teacher is a nice guy but he makes chemistry very difficult. The only way i passed was reading the book. No reviews, no extra credit. Attendance is a must. I got a b but it was probaly the hardest class i've taken.
i took lab with him. This is a fairly easy class, all you need to do is go to class and try to do your labs. he wants you to pass. even if u fail the midterm and the final with a 0, u can still pass this class with a C. He can seem mean sometimes, but hes really not. he is a good teacher. recommend him for labs
Took him for CHM lab.Easy lab because the book gives the instructions on the experiment. Midterm and Final are fill in the blank which makes it hard but are based on experiments done in class. Teacher is hard to understand because of his thick accent. Overall, kind of a hard class. I would recommend taking another professor.
Had him last semester and he was real cool. Always made us laugh and may seem mean sometimes, but really has your best interest at heart. Don't be too sensitive! Learn to take a joke and if you're having trouble with chem, read, get some prep books, and look for tutoring. Def. recommend him.
I GOT AN A ON THE FIRST TEST AND IT WAS DOWN HILL FROM THERE. HE DOES NOT TEACH FROM THE BOOK BUT HE TELLS YOU TO GET IT. HE TEACHES WAY MORE THAN HE WIIL TEST YOU ON THAT IS WHAT MAKES HIM NOT A GOOD TEACHER AT ALL. I DONT RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANY STUDENT. HE CONFUSES YOU BUY TELLING YOU TO STUDY WHAT HE GOES OVER IN CLASS AND IT NOT ON THE TEST BULL
This professor is the worst professor I've ever had in my life. I had him for my organic chemistry I. I already had my bachelors degree so, I've seeing and experienced different professors in my life. He jokes through the entire class, when you ask him something he just sends you to the book and his tests are nothing compared to his bs classes.
Great professor and very knowleadgble. You will learn alot from his class. You do have to study if you dont you will have anegative feedback. "if you listen, you will learn." Attendance is extra 5% so be there.
He is a good professor!!!! I took him in a 6 week course and I had to Study a lot!!! But it was all worth it in the end! If You get Mastering Chemistry and study all the power points for every Chapter.. You should be fine!!! That's what I studied and I got an A!! :)
This guy wants you to think he's mean, but he's a giant teddy bear. Show up to class, study, and get mastering chemistry like he recommends and you'll do excellent in his class. If he thinks you are making an effort, he'll work with you. If you have any problems, go see him during office hours. You will laugh in his class. Stop Talking!
This is a great preofessor, hes gradeing policy is a bit strict, no extra credit but if you study you will definately pass. Test question are basic and to the point, he i a nice funny guy but expects you to work for your grade. i dont regret taking him
I took him for lab. He is a great instructor. He's very funny and makes the class interesting. Attendance is mandatory, labs aren't too complicated. Just make sure to listen when he's explaining, because he does not like to repeat himself. Instead of him answer your question, he will get you to answer your own question. Take him!
This professor is excellent. Very thorough. IF HE WRITES IT ON THE BOARD-IT'S ON THE TEST. Once you get that and you study...that's your "A". You definitely want to take him.
Professor Urhoghide is great! He explains the concepts thoroughly in a way that is easy to understand. You just have to do a lot of self studying. Don't expect for any science class to be easy. Know the material in the book.READ! Do the practice questions in the book! There are 4 exams. chp.1-17. Skipped chp.9 and 18.No extra credit assignments.
He Gives easy tests and drop the lowest score of the first 3 but gives you The hardest final ever. I wouldn't recommended.
Great prof! Makes subject easy/tests are very straight-forward & easy. (I ended the semester with over 100%-he put 2-5 extra credit questions on tests). Can be abrupt in class with repetitive questions-go to his office hours for extra help (very helpful/friendly/patient). Can be very sarcastic-not for you if you are very sensitive or offendable.
Dr. Urhoghide is strict but concern with your progress. the best thing you can do to pass his class is being early, using your book as your best friend, and making all the quizzes that the code and the book has. he said that there is not extra credit. you will notice in the test that you don't need extra credit assignment. thanks Dr. Urhoghide
He is a great professor, really knows his material. He is also HILARIOUS, always kept the class laughing. A little strict in regards to expecting you to at least have read the material before class. Great experience overall!
Dr. U is an awesome professor. He really cares about his students. He gives hands on examples in class so that you can truly understand the subject. He breaks it down. He give 4 multiple choice test, drops the lowest of the first 2. Gives reviews. And extra points for coming to every class. HE ANSWERS QUESTIONS. He is hilarious :)
Dr. Urhoghide is very strict, but he is a good professor not the best but not the worst. He will explain your answer in his sarcastic way but overall he is not so bad as he pretent to be.Just dont be afraid to ask him.
This Professor was not the worst, however he talks a lot of nonsense not related to Chemistry at all, has horrible jokes, and his tests are extremely difficult without any reviews or help.
The material for this class is difficult and you must study! Attendance isn't mandatory but you get 5 points if you don't miss any classes. Overall I found this class time consuming and frustrating.
he is a very good professor. Entertaining, funny and teaches very well. I would recommend him to everybody. I absolutely love him!
He is a very good professor and he makes Chemistry easy. He gives extra credits , he also use every day life to explain things so that you can remember that in the test. Overall the one of the best at Miami dade College
He's not the best but not the worst. Reality is that this class is difficult no matter who you take it with. I took it for six weeks so it was a lot of studying for me. He can be very sarcastic but he is a good professor. Don't expect him to baby you, we are in college and expect for a lot of hard work. I got an A so anyone can too.
I felt that he teaches CONCEPTS and covers all portion on time, he tests on what he teaches in class, so take his notes. He is funny, but he doesn't appear so on day 1. Must buy CHM text book for his class. Tests are not that hard, gives extra questions to help students. I felt this professor very helpful in teaching CHM1033, i recommend him.
This professor expects you to already know everything you're learning but i don't understand why he thinks that when your taking an intro to chem class. he always wants you to agree with what hes saying, so he doesn't like it when you don't understand something, he will either embarrass you or make you feel dumb. Thank god i had help to pass. No HW
This prof knows his stuff. But that doesn't mean that you will pass the class even if you study hard. The colleagues that took orgo 1 with another professor dropped out of his class after realizing that it was hopeless. The issue is that he doesn't teach well with problem-solving when it's a necessary skill for tests. Lectures & slides do not help.
Really hard, currently I am a good student, but whit him i get "C" I cannot believe this, he does not teach, test are hard, especially if the main chemestry 1033 is behind in chapters.Horrible.
Took him for lab this semester & for lecture the semester before. It's a big difference since he doesn't have to do much teaching in lab. You work with a partner for every lab which helps you finish faster if you work together correctly. Only bad part was he did not tell us what to study for the midterm/final so you have to just study everything
not an easy class!
This professor is amazing. Don't expect to get a good grade without studying be serious about it, he gives reviews before every test. He is truly a professional who loves his job and does his job with remarkable enthusiasm.
Horrible, doesnt explain the labs so youre always lost. the lab reports are easy(got mostly As), midterm was kind of easy (got a C) and final was a bomb . i dont recommend you take him. he doesnt curve
HARD! I HAD TO GO TO TUTOING THREE TIMES PER WEEK AND STILL GOT A "C". HIS TEST ARE DIFFICULT. OVERALL CLASS IS VERY HARD YU JUST NEED TO DEDICATED YOURSELF 24/7 TO IT.
Contrary to a good number of reviews on here, the professor is more than fair to his students and goes the extra mile, giving bonus questions in tests and eliminating the lowest-scoring test from the final grade computation. The subject is not easy, but you will be rewarded accordingly if you work hard for it. Would take his class in a heartbeat.
Awesome teacher, very clear explanations, I only had for the lab but I wish I had him for lecture. Easy to pass as long as you come to class and complete the labs. He allows you to work with someone on ALL experiments. I definitely recommend.
Bit of a strong accent so you have to take like a minute to interpret what he says. Can be rude sometimes and doesn't always answer your question, and if he does makes you feel dumb about it. If he sees you actually show up and try in class he will give you a boost at the end of the semester. If you can study at home prior to class you'll pass.
He often treats little kids with disrespect, so I had to correct him the first time he attempted to do so with me. Henceforth he was very helpful to me at least. Explains things rather clearly but expects you to know the material from lecture, which I was rough with because of Vinciguerra. Labs are easy and interesting, but you must study hard!
The professor is very professional, polite, clear and direct. He is very thorough in explaining class expectations at the beginning of the semester & before experiments. His only requirement is the student's accountability, no excuses. My only request would be a review prior to midterm and final exams, or at least a guide as to what to expect.
Currently taking Chemistry with him and most likely failing. As terrible as that sounds I still think he's a good teacher. I've slacked through his entire class telling myself "ill study before the test", which I never did. Have the book with you, I downloaded it online for free, and he'll answer any questions you have. No book = no effort to him
He doesn't like repeating himself and with the detailed explanations he gives, he shouldn't have to. Class was always fun and interesting and I learned so much.
Do not take this class with this professor. This was the first time a rating fooled me.
African accent. People think he's rude, but I just laugh at him. BUT overall its a hard class because its a hard subject. He doesn't completely suck, he can actually teach SOMETIMES. Some chapters are just more confusing then others. wouldn't take him again though. It was just too fast paced since it was a summer class.
This professor is not a good element for MDC, he try to fear his students, the accent is really strong, not easy to understand, if you ask a question he will answer "God help you". I don't recommend him.
Stay away from this professor because he doesn't teach. If you already know orgo, you may take him, but if you don't know anything about orgo and try to learn, stay away because you won't learn anything. he doesn't do any exercises, he just give a brief idea of what is on each chapter and expect you to learn everything else on your own. Worse class
Don't take him if you actually need to pass this course. He doesn't help his students at all and is extremely rude. His lectures don't even go with what's on his exams and you only get four tests; no home work or assignments or any other credit to help you pass. It's like he makes the class easy for himself and impossible for his students.
Very laid back and uninvolved. A little abrasive at first but will answer questions when asked. Midterm and final are killer. He's not kidding when he says know your reports. Class average 25% on midterm. To pass tests you must MEMORIZE every equation, reaction, terminology, and experiment. Expect to be there the full 4 hours.
I really enjoyed this professor. It's said that he's rude but he's not, he just has a different type of humor sense. The class is tough but if you study you will pass. Participate and you'll do well.
Professor Urhoghide is a great professor. He makes the class interesting and fun at the same time with his jokes. Takes time to explain questions and shows that he cares. Don't expect that you're going to get an easy A if you don't study. Overall it was a pleasure to be in his class and if i had to take him again i would do so
best professor at dade, he is tough but YOU WILL LEARN and he is funny
I took this professor in spring '14 and still think about him! I honestly wish I could take this class AGAIN just for the pleasure of being in his class. I worked very hard to earn my A but he is such a fantastic professor! He definitely tries to make sure you understand what he is talking about. I will always remember you Professor!! THANK YOU!!
I was afraid to take him due to the reviews on here, but I'm glad I took him for CHM1033L. I worked very hard for my grade. His lectures were great and the experiments were fun. If you fail his exams and course, either you didn't do your own labs, missed days or didn't pay attention to him. He's a very GREAT professor.
This professor is the worse professor ever, he don't like to repeat when you ask him question. He make jokes that are only funny to him. He makes student look like they are foolish for not understanding what he is teaching. He expects student to read and understand the entire text book before class. IF YOU LOVE YOUR GPA, DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
He's a great professor!! He loves science, he's passionate and knowledgeable. I had him during summer A (Saturdays!) And yesss he made my Saturdays worth a while. I learned a lot and he also made the class fun. I wish I would of taken him for a longer term!!!
Recommend He's very good professor
This class literally made me cry multiple times. He's tough and he doesn't care to help. If you ask a question, he makes you feel stupid. I took him for a 6 week class and he didn't give us a break. Gives 4 tests and 1 final and drops the lowest test grade not the final though. If you're REALLY good at Chem, go for it. If not, stay away.
Come to class. Bring your book. Tests are multiple choice.
ok, i had him for a 6 week class too, he's not like that person underneath mentioned, he's a great prof and tells you things straight forward from the start. if you fail that is your fault, you must study and read and write gooood notes, but he's awesome and super smart ! i'd take him again
He has a sarcastic sense a of humor and he's not very helpful at all. He expects you to know how to do the lab before you come into class. You get to work with a partner for most labs and there is a final and midterm with no reviews. He never likes to repeat himself and when you ask a question he makes you feel stupid. Would not recommend
He is a good professor. Every time I had any question, I went to his office during office hours, and he helped me. Of course, you have to be prepared for each experiment. If you study well for the tests, you should do well. Take his class if you actually want to acquire lab skills. Recommended.
He is the worst chemistry teacher by far at the North Campus. Beware, do not waste your time or money on this professor. What ever he goes over in class and has on the study guide review is never on the test. But he'll stresses you to come to class like your gonna to learn something, ha. He needs to retire or find another job and I really mean that
Excellent professor. I actually learnt from the labs. Just be ready for every lab, study hard for the tests, and if there is something you don't understand, make use of office hours.
The labs are up to you and if you do everything correctly then you will get a good grade on those with no problem. The midterm and final are impossible to pass without cheating. There is no review or hints on what will be on the exam and he asks you very complex questions that don't really show up in the labs. The exam is written and there is no mc
This professor was not that terrible but it was impossible for me to learn anything in this class. He knew the subject well but his methods of teaching it were not clear at all. He is very sarcastic and will put you on the spot if you show up late or miss a day of class. 3 tests, one final. Drops the lowest test grade but the tests are difficult.
tests are difficult. he may give study guides if you ask for them. study hard and do practice problems from the book to get a B on tests. only 4 tests. he drops the lowest score but it cant be from the last test. study study study.
You HAVE to go to class. But just read the TEXTBOOK and follow IT'S instructions, cause his lectures will confuse you. I had chem in highschool the year before and got straight As, but the examples he gave, messed me up and I just passed the class. Just practice the problems from the book and go to class for attendance.
do not take this professor
He is not the nicest professor but depending on the day he might go easier on you. He does not answer your questions completely but somedays he is a good teacher. See gives 3 test( which the one with the lowest grade you can drop) and a final. No homework or projects.
Uroghide does not clearly explain things and when you try to ask a question he dismisses it. He discusses the material but most of the learning is on your part. He gives study guides and the tests are mainly based on that. Also he drops the lowest grade. He's comical too
Great professor!!!
Easiest lab ever. Great professor. Would take it again.
Great professor!!! Would take him again!
PLEASE DON'T EVER TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS. HE IS A NIGHTMARE! HE LEAVES THE LAB MULTIPLE TIMES. He takes off points for anything and doesn't explain any lab the only thing he knows how to do is scorn you when something went wrong. Please don't take him. Then he complains why his classes dont ever fill up..
Does not let you ask questions. All he does is lecture, then complain about students who have asked him questions in the past. Does not assign any homework, so it's honestly just you and the book if you really want to pass. Horrible notes. Give 4 tests and that's what your grade is based off of. If you don't pass the test, then you fail the class.
This teacher is one of the worst. He is not clear enough when explaining the content. Do not even think about asking a question, study guide nothing to do with the class or the tests. I'm not saying that the guide has to be the test, but it always puts a few questions on the test that are far from what he teaches in classes.
Great professor but if you want to pass read the textbook and make sure you spend at least 2-3 day to study for the exam if you want to ace your test. I took his 6 week course for reference.
Everyone who has complained about this professor needs to grow a pair! Do not take his remarks or attitude serious. He is not malicious. Do your work, participate and he will pass you or boost your grade if you are short a few to go to the next grade. He is funny and wants you to work hard and broke down the material fairly simple.
He wasn't the best professor, but he could've been worse. I didn't like how he discouraged students from asking questions. Lectures were confusing at times, but he does provide study guides for each test. They're not exactly like the test, but they help. If you're not that good at chemistry, I wouldn't recommend him.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR he is not worthy of being a teacher. He doesn't care if you don't understand what is going on, he will not give extra credit. He will not help you at all. His class is is hard for no reason. Choose someone else please. This teacher has no sympathy for people. He will not motivate or encourage students. He don't care.
Get ready to teach yourself. Super confusing at times. I had to watch YouTube videos just to understand the lessons.
DO NOT TAKE HIM, he CAN NOT teach, does not care if you fail or not and will ruin your GPA. Grades only are based off of 4 test, which are very hard and not what is on the study guide.
STAY AWAY!! Hes bad a explaining everything thats going on in the lecture. Strong accent so its hard to understand him half the time. He gives 4 test and a final and drops the lowest grade. Gives no extra credit! Test reviews have nothing to do with the actual test.
Very strong accent. He judges you when you ask him questions regarding the topic. Test are heavy and sometimes have nothing to do with what he talked about. He will finish a chapter in less than 30 minutes so he is quick to teach. Recommend to take another teacher!!
Hardest B Ive ever had to work for .. 4 test and final . His extra credit is adding 5 bonus questions to the test. No homework. Highly recommend someone else.
very tough grader, hard to understand due to language barrier. very smart. do not take unless you like science and actually understand it. i do not recommend him. very hard class
I was scared to take him because of all the bad reviews but hes actually not bad. Take Notes and Read the chapters and you should be fine. Visit his office hours if you need help.
Yeah leave this guys page right now and pick someone else ....
All of the people complaining are the same ones that expect the professors to do their work for them. No, this class is not an easy A. But if you pay attention in class, read the material and study on your own you will pass this class. The professor might come off as rude but he actually cares about his students.
Wouldn't recommended him to any student he is very rude and the class is extremely boring and he gives you four test that's what your grades will be based on and he doesn't help you with anything
Wanted to drop this class so bad but I didnt want to let my dog down.
ummm. don't you dare take this professor, if your not a very capable able student that likes challenges and very very hand off learning, because he doesn't and will never go out of his way to help, or explain something to you, An he discourages you from asking questions in class.
He's a cool guy. He's a pretty decent professor, although his accent can be a barrier in understanding sometimes. If you ask him questions during lecture, he may brush it off; but if you see him during his office hours, he will gladly answer your questions. He's a better professor than some give him credit for, or lack thereof.
If you dont read the book you wont pass. Simple as that. He dont grade homework. Grade depends on quizzes and the final. Hes lectures makes no sense, I only got an A cause I read the book.
He is okay. The only grades are four test. He is a bit rude if you ask him questions but he will answer them. You will have to study A LOT on your own.
Dr. U is a great professor, everything bad written about him is a lie. His test are easy if you study and he gives a test review so you know what the test will be like. He is honestly a great professor.
I honestly dont know why he has such bad ratings on here. Hes one of the best professors ive had so far and actually made me like chemistry. If you study and pay attention, youll pass the tests for sure. He also helps out a lot when it comes to extra bonus points. Super nice and straightforward guy! Makes the class entertaining
Teaches the bare minimum. Only 4 grades, and theyre all tests. However, he gives extra credit for attendance. Need to be able to teach yourself.
I had him for organic chem 1 & 2 and... -organic chem is hard, but hes not a bad professor. -he gives sometimes 3-5 extra credit points on his test out of 30 questions. -the tests are hard but if you follow along with the textbook, you should do well. -he actually cares about your success. Go to his office hours if something is unclear.
A lot of people can be off put by the way he teaches his class and use of language, english isnt his first. His tests include many opportunities for extra credit. It may take some time to get used to the way he teaches. His lectures are clear and concise and he cares about his students LEARNING and understands that we learn at different paces.
He is the BEST chemistry professor ever. I loved this class because he taught this difficult subject so clear and concise. I actually learned more than expected from this class. Make sure you study & attend every class so you don't fall beyond. Just 4 tests, no homework, & no quizzes. Apply yourself for a easy A. This is college young people!
WORST professor ever! Do not take him if you want to learn organic chemistry. Do not take this professor under any circumstance.
He is funny and makes the class fun. He cares for his students and gives good advice. 4 tests only and they all have extra credit questions
The only grades you get are 4 tests. His grading criteria makes little to no sense. Does long lectures and talks a lot and repeats phrases which is very annoying. He is rude and will humiliate you for asking a question. Some of his test questions make no sense is the type of professor to put questions on a test about a chapter you didn't study.
Hes the worst Prof, heres your chance to run!!! If you want to pass chm1033 then run as fast as you could. He doesnt teach, he is rude and arrogant. If you ask a question, he will humiliate you. Runnnnn!!
Dr. U is a funny and entertaining Professor. DO NOT DO THE STUDY GUIDES. THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE THE TEST. READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTERS and do the problems in that chapter. ONLY WAY to pass the tests. Go to his office and show him you are studying. This will help you in the end. You will live in the chemistry lab. Form study groups. His class is fun.
If you are taking him in lecture he is okay if you are taking test make sure to read the whole chapters that was covered don't rely on the review. His lab is the worst! no review (he is very vague about it) and fill in the blank. If you are going to ask question ask in his office hours than the class hours he will not entertain you. Don't take him
He thinks he's funny and if that helped in chemistry I wouldn't be failing right now. Just by considering taking him for chem you're in danger of failing.
I truly think he is an an amazing professor. He gives 5 tests no homework and study guides for every test. recommends to do the practice problems in the chapters and has taken some of his tests questions for this. Book is useful but his notes and teaching style are great and you will learn. To the point. Strict w attendance. Totally recommend
This professor does not care about his students. He would see the class was lost and would not explain again what he was teaching. He is available during office hours and will explain any questions you have but sometimes will simply tell you that he said it in class and to go read the book. His tests are hard. Grade are tests and attendee (5%)
His lectures are boring and dense. However, for me personally, I had an excellent high school chemistry teacher, so I just tune him out. That, coupled with the study guides he gives for tests and you're looking at a high B. If you're a biochem major I would not recommend. If you're just trying to get the credit he's fine.
Lazy, no respect with students does not return emali. Difficult exams. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Orgo is difficult with lots of material and you need time to study and practice. Things were even harder with the Covid 19.I was blessed. I passed the class with a bad teacher and very difficult online lectures), which were HORRIBLE.
He is a nice professor and he tries to teach but he isn't that good. There were 4 tests total and no HW. He would mess up what he was teaching. He has study guides for the tests BUT they werent similar or hardly related questions in test. His tests are HARD and studying the book won't even help at times. I passed cause of luck honestly. Good luck.
Hear me out. DO NOT TAKE HIM under any circumstance. I had to drop out of the class because he makes it really difficult. If you take him DO NOT USE THE STUDY GUIDES they are not worth your time, DO NOT study from the book. I used the book and the study guide and it did not help, i got a F. The best thing you could do is take another professor.
The pros of taking Dr. Urhoghide are that he knows the material well and is upfront about what he expects from students. The cons: he can take a sharp tone that makes some students nervous to interrupt for questions, but I asked questions regardless and he always answered them. He has no tolerance for people missing class and will call you on it.
he is extremely rude with his students, you ask a question and he will automatically get mad and tell you to shut up. horrible professor. do not take unless you wish to cry out of frustration.
I had him during quarantine. Since we did not attend in person, he got the measurements for the labs himself and gave them to us to do the calculations. He is frightening to some people, but personally, I found him okay. He's a good professor, but you have to put some time into the labs if you want an acceptable grade.
If u want to learn and take chem seriously do not take his classes. He is unfit to teach; b/c he has no communication, empathy, support, and no creativity w/ his students so he simply reads pp during class time, also no practice examples that he asks in the exam, I passed the class because I joined remote learning tutor sessions which learned more
3 tests 30%, Final 35%, attendance 5%, drops lowest grade of first 3 tests. No homework grade, tests not proctored (class/tests taken synchronically online), no extra credit, textbook not necessary but highly recommended.
First off, make sure you NEVER miss a class. Unlike other teachers that stick to a set schedule, he throws 4 large tests at you with barely any notice. The test week can change at any time. His lectures are drawn out and hard to focus, but the class is not hard. He NEVER responds to email. I had to even reach out to the department head for help.
Professor Urgohide is actually nice. Chemistry is already a hard topic so I'm guessing there are bad reviews on here. The professor is straight to the point. No homework and you don't really have to read on your own. Just follow the power point and take notes during lectures. Our grade consisted pf 4 exams and attendance.
Do not believe negative reviews. Dr. Urhoghide is not hard he just likes things done in a specific way. He has few assignments which consist of 20 lab reports (watch videos/google) and 1 midterm, 1 final. Attendance is mandatory. Do not ask silly questions that he has already answered or that is on the syllabus. Do not expect to be babied. Easy A.
He's cool but I'm still upset at the fact that you have to not miss class to get a grade when doing your lab homework.
He was a very sweet professor and made the class super easy. Although he does gives 4 exams or 5 i don't remember lol. But trust me he is great!
He only does 4 exams and he use that to grade you.... no homework only 4 exams.... keep that in mind.... The class is alright i guess nothing to tragic happened with this professor......
He doesn't give homework assignments but we had to do 4 exams! He's nice I don't understand why people hate on him. He's not that bad. He is strict and if you follow his rules you shouldn't have no problem with him.
If you actually want to understand concepts in Chemistry, don't take this professor. He is rude, dry, and completely unapproachable. Attendance is mandatory, and cameras are required to be on. Lab reports are given a point value, however, you will never know what you got right or wrong. No study guide was provided. Good Luck!
Has a heavy accent, does not teach, only reads off of PPP. Had to study a lot on my own with Khan academy and other websites. 4 tests, drops one of the first 3 but final does not get dropped. We did two tests online and for last 2 we had to come to campus to take it in person. If you study hard, you can get a good grade but the tests are not easy.
The professor is very upfront about the class and also very sarcastic. I have a note from the ACCESS dept. concerning health accommodations, missed an exam and in him helping me, he also made me feel bad for the issue. Towards the end I was able to get what I needed to get accomplished but he showed no empathy.
Dr. Urhoghide is a great professor, very organized and clear on grading criteria.
He was a tough professor, hard to understand his accent. I would not take his class maybe if it was in person.
Absolutely not recommend this professor. Lectures so have and bored, difficult to understand because of his accent. Clear grading criteria 5 test with camera on, tests is heavy, however no homework or any extra credits
He is very sarcastic, and will make you feel dumb when you ask him a question. he was very frustrating, everyone refused to ask for help because side comments will be made or he will make you feel dumb in front of everyone. Other than that i kind of started liking him at the end if the semester I feel his teaching style help me retain certain info.
Professor Urhoghide is a nice professor. His lectures never really prepared me for his tests, he always just read off of his PowerPoints. There are only 4 tests, he drops one of the first 3 and always keeps in the finals. He's extremely inflexible when it comes to grades.
4 tests worth 30%, he drops the lowest one. Attendance is 10%. No hw. Lectures through powerpoint, it can be a drag. I tried my best to pay attention and did the test reviews but they were different on the actual tests. I barely passed. Couldn't ask questions bc he would make side comments when others asked so no one really asked. Good luck.
Lectures are pretty boring although he is pretty funny. All he does is read off of a Powerpoint, so you don't learn anything. 4 tests in total, first 3 worth 30% which he drops the lowest and final test which is worth 35%. Attendance is worth 5%. Tests were in-person and online but not on a lockdown browser. He does respond to emails fast though.
Very test heavy, only 4 exams and that's it. Lectures were okay, he just kept following the powerpoint that you could access. The test were semi difficult, all multiple choice and electronically taken in class. Not much to it, if you pass 3 exams you'll be fine. You wont learn much.
This professor is HORRIBLE. So horrible in fact that i never write on here but i had to come in order to warn you guys. He's very rude, loud and has no respect for you at all. And attendance is super important, and if you miss one day you cant make up for it or anything. He made me hate CHM so much. Highly suggest do not take him!!!!!!!
Class was fairly easy, as the course grade was based off only 4 test through the entire semester. No homework. No quizzes. Clearly reads off slides and has accent that is hard to understand , so prepare to be flustered at times. He's a nice guy though and tries to be understanding.
This professor was as bad as a professor can get. Not only was he incredibly difficult to understand sometimes, but even if I could've understood him, I wouldn't have passed a single test either way because half of the things on the test are not found on the resources you are given to study from. The only realistic way you can pass is by cheating.
Prof. Urhoghide is essentially a back seat teacher. His lectures are mostly useless. He grades based off attendance (which he often messes up and will give you a 30 when you've been to every meeting) and test grades. When taking this class write down your learning objectives for the session and go watch Youtube to learn what you need to know.
Pay attention to the lectures, take notes, study the powerpoints and you will pass. Lectures are recorded, so you can rewatch them. He does have an accent but it wasn't too hard to understand imo. The only grades we had were tests, no homework. He will drop the lowest grade out of tests 1-3, but test 4 is mandatory. If you have questions, ask him
I like the professor for being a little humorous during class labs, and he used to raise his voice a little louder sometimes. I do enjoy experimenting. But the midterm along with a final exam looked challenging than I ever imagined it would be. However, once you decide to take CHM 1046L, you're going to like this guy. Choose him!
worst professor ever!! don't take him for the lab. He doesn't explain, the lab has 2 exams which he dosent provide any practice quiz or guide for study.
His class isn't that bad but make sure you pay attention. He gives until the next class to finish lab reports so don't procrastinate like I did. He drops the lowest two lab grades. Study the labs for the midterm/final since the questions are based on the work you did. If you're going to ask him a question, make sure you know what you're asking.
Professor Urhoghide's class is challenging, but engaging with the resources like the recorded lectures and using tools like unstuckstudy can help you succeed. Stay on top of the material and you'll get through it.
He does not require cameras on for Zoom. He reads off ppt slides but sometimes uses whiteboard to more clearly describe concepts. You are only graded on quizzes that require Lockdown Browser, but it is pretty easy to get the answers bc he requires you to be on zoom during the test. You can search up some answers. His class is ok if you want credit.
I took this class online, cameras are not required all the time. But for the test they must be on. The homework assignments are pretty simple, most of the material from the website we used were apart of the tests. Very simple and easy course, you just need to pay attention!
absolutely not
I love Professor Urhoghide, he is hilarious and if you show respect and interest he will go out of his way to help you and make sure you get a good grade. His labs are easy, the only thing that needs to be turned in is the data sheet and questions from the book. His exams are related to the post-labs, if you study them you are good! GREAT LABS!
Professor Urhoghide is GREAT, I was very scared from the reviews but I am glad I took him, he is super funny, caring, and will help you if you show interest and dedication. I dont know how he's in lectures, but take his lab and you will pass if you put in effort. Do not take him if you are lazy, miss classes, or are always late, he is not for you.
Dr uroghide was a good proffesor despite, his class consist of just 4 tes
Dr Uroghide was a great professor despite his reviews, his class consist of grading based off 4/5 test(he drops lowest grade). He knows his stuff and if u do bad or fail in the class its completely on you, he teaches pretty good and explains everything thoroughly
Do not recommend
Worst professor on earth!!!!
His reviews are nothing like his test. He teaches terrible. Writes on a board with a power point on it so you can not see anything. I can pass this class only because I know chemistry from 1025 not because of how he teaches. Stay away. He has ego for sure.
VERY unclear grading on the lab reports, can't ask him a single question without getting offended and is extremely rude. Never had a professor with such a huge ego
Disrespectful professor, do yourself a favor and don't take him
Only does tests, no extra-credit, rounds 1 of the first 3 tests to the next best after the 4th is taken. I would have placed him higher if not for his time management. He spent half the course on the first of four modules. This was a 12 week course so from then on we had 2 weeks for him to teach and then test. Use the textbook instead of his pwp.
Midterm & final taken in class through a lockdown browser. He doesn't provide any exam reviews or share what will be on the tests. Lab assignments are graded according to a rubric that seems to exist only in his head. Top hat questions before every lab, some are file uploads which take a lot of time. A lot of work work and stress for a 1 credit lab
One of the least reasonable professors I have ever had. His entire class consists of four tests that determine your entire grade. No opportunities for extra credit, no opportunities for retakes. His accent is hard to understand and he has this condescending tone that feels extremely disrespectful. Do not take his class, I am looking for a refund.
Very knowledgeable in his subject and gives the materials needed to learn. Classes were based solely on tests and slightly on attendance. Test were usually different from the practice. Manageable but still difficult without properly studying.
Heavy on test, no extra credit or homework grades.
Would've never taken this lab with him if I would've known (the prof was switched last minute) the OPPOSITE of clear grading criteria, such a horrible experience
This class ruined my 4.0
If I knew the class was like this, I would've waited and taken it with someone else. Don't take him
Professor Urhoghide is a great teacher for those who put in the effort and know how to study well. The class consists of only three out of four tests; the lowest of the first three gets dropped. He gives five points for attendance and may round up the final grade. It's not an easy class, but with proper dedication, it is doable.
Don't take him, I was the third with best grade in his class and I DO NOT recommend him. Take it with another professor bc I'm sure NO ONE is worse than him. Do a favor to yourself and do NOT take this class. And absolutely IGNORE all the good reviews he has because he either payed for them, or he wrote them himself.
He will call you out in class and embarrass you for quite literally no reason. He not take him if you value respect and sanity
The opposite of a clear grading criteria! Will be screaming from the moment the lab starts till the end. In person midterm and final that he gives no prep for. Extremely rude and disrespectful to students. You know what it is to get an A in the lecture and a C in the lab?
Very knowledgeable in his subject and gives the materials needed to learn. yeah he can be rude at times, but honestly as long as you are in his good side, follow all procedures, you should be fine. Test were usually different from the lab. he gives all instructions needed for lab you just hav to follow them
Save yourself some stress before deciding on taking this course. On the bright side, there are four tests, and the lowest test grade gets dropped from the gradebook. However, the final exam is worth 35% of your overall grade, so it's really important to do well on that. There's no homework, but you'll probably have to study a lot on your own.
This professor makes a tough class easier to understand. You have to study a lot for the four exams, but he explains things clearly and answers all your questions. Chemistry feels less complicated with him. Even though it's challenging, I'd take the class again because I learned a lot. He's polite
Save yourself and don't take him. Lecture has 4 exams if you fail one you will not pass fr. His class hurt my gpa . He also makes slick remarks.
I do not recommend taking this professor if you have a busy schedule, a job, or children, as the workload and time commitment are extremely demanding. If anyone was passing his class it's probably the super smart chemistry people mind you that's like two kids out of a class full of 20 people.
