He gives 10% extra credit and you can use notes for tests. He does not give you trick questions on the tests. The class is a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it, you'll do well.
strong accent. his test are very difficult. although you can use the slides they are not very helpful
Ignore the two comments below! Taksa is so easy and a really good professor. He's lenient that he'll changes exam dates for you, always answers questions, and as long as you participate you're bound to get an A.
great professor, very helpfull, easy tests and easy grader, curves tests! Highly recommend!
Very Nice professor. Exams are Easy! Open Notes but do write 'notes' on ur ppt. Slides from the textbook,Especially from tings that r not in the slides. Just the ppt. won't work. Project is ok. Can be a lot of work but he grades aslong as you do what he asks. Effort! Gives points away during class.
Great, very knowledgeable and funny professor! His class goes by pretty fast. Excellent grader and very helpful to the students. Wish more professors were like that! I Definitely recommend him

Cool guy, you won't ever have such a fun time in a single class, just dont be shy. you will probably learn the most from interacting with him than you ever will by reading the book. BUT READ THE DAMN BOOK! you wont regret taking this class. if you fail i got a feeling you're gonna be outsouced!
The class is plain but he will not let you fall a sleep. He will make it fun the time will just fly thru
Funny guy. Lots of jokes. Raise your hand get an A. Open book test.
One suggestion take him if you can. Easy A
really cool professor, one of the better professors ive had. Has actual experience in the field and knows what hes talking about. Tests are open notes and reasonable, but the final is tricky.
Really good prof as in personality wise. The ppl who wrote good comments are those that suck up. There is favoratism in this class so good luck. The test were hard and he gave hw. Compared to other prof in CIS he is one of the hardest.
Hw is given all the time and there are surprise quizzes so make sure you do all the reading and you'll get a B. No easy A work you butt of maybe A-
Hard class hard grader
Not an easy clas have too much work, too much reading AVOID while you can
This professor is not so bad as everyone else said. I am not a student who kisses up to the professor and I got a good grade. He gives 2 exams and one final. During the end of the semester he will give hw's from the lab, but will help you and let you hand in late work.
he is a good professor, I got a B because I messed myself up.
This guy is extremely nice, he is helpful, explains the material really well and makes the class laugh when he feels the students are getting bored.
Great Professor!
If you want an easy A and love your experience of this class then look no further. Take it here and you will do just fine. You will have to do all the assignments but the tests are piece of Cake, easy grader. Not sure what other students are talking about. I took it with my friends and we all got A- without having to put in too much in it and
Strict on attendence but overall an easy A.
An Easy A. Highly recommended
NOT that easy, and definatly not easy A :(2 midterms+final, mult choice.READ THAT BOOK PEOPLE,U REALY NEED TO!!!also 2projects.He is nice prof but doesnt expalin realy good.I dont complain vur u realy need to read alot.also gives curves. So u give it a try :)
He is a nice prof. give 4 project as homework, clearly explain on class, i just use 1 minute to finish the project and get 100%. exam is all about the book, read the book is very useful. remember the defination of terms and structure of chapter are important.exam is all about it
he take attendance every class. 4 easy projectS,but useful skill on MS excel. exam is all about the book, read the book very carefully, then you will BE GOOD!He is a nice prof.
This guy is the man !! Just make sure you attend class and you will get an A ....TAKSA FOR PRESIDENT !!!
Amazing professor! Makes the class lecture very interesting, provides a lot of real life examples. 4 h-w two midterms and a final. He is very easy going, often lets you go early. 100% recomended!!!
He's great! Make sure you read the chapters and you will be fine. His slides are helpful but he pulls questions from the textbook for the exams. He's funny and he lets out early alot of the time. 3 easy assignments, midterm and final. 100% recommended especially for evening students.
Prof Taksa's class is rather redundant. He just plays the powerpoint and asks you to repeat the slides verbatim. He demands participation in a class of 80 students. Its boring, but easy, and you wont really learn anything. three assignments, 2 midterms, and a cake final. take him, but if you can find someone better, go for it
TAKSA for PRESIDENT!!! Even though it was a waste of time taking this class (thanks to the hard working brauch evaluation staff) i had fun and his class was more than what i needed for the boring classes i had to face for the rest of the evening. Makes learning fun and not a very hard professor but please participate. He likes this very much.
He makes the class interesting, tests are easy, just make sure you go over the slides attentively and know all definitions in the end of every chapter. Nice guy too
Waste of time and money. An easy A but will not learn anything. To pass the tests, you have to memorize the book. Home work assignments are useless and waste of time.
He tries to make classes interesting (brings in real-world examples) but is not a good teacher and tries too hard to make students work. (Who assigns a 20-page paper at Baruch?) Seems to be angry at students and young people in general, but does not know how to help them learn.
4 easy excel-assignments. 2 midterms and 1 final (non-cumulative; covering 3 chapters each test). ALL Multiple Choice exams. No textbook needed! Just study his slides IN DETAIL and memorize everything! attendance mandatory. Overall a little bit boring class, but he is a great guy!
Honestly one of the nicest professors in Baruch. He basically wants everyone to get an A and gives you extra points for having 100% attendance. You have to be pretty lazy not to get an A since its basically a hand out
extremely boring but nice guy. he reads of ppt slides and the exam is all from the slides and textbook. you can bring all your notes to the exams, but the must be hand written. easy A, but you do need to read and/or write alot.
Extremely boring. He takes attendance everday. That is only reason to attend class otherwise you won't miss anything even if you miss all the class. Exams are very easy as long as you have you hand written notes with you.
His class is pretty boring but its fairly easy, if you read the book you should do fine. He's a really nice guy just doesnt take his teaching to heart.
best dude
At first I thought this class was extremely boring. However, he gets better as time goes on. He tries to curves the grades so that the average on the tests are 90. There are 3 tests, including the final, all multiple choice. The final is not cumulative. Very little homework. I recommend him; you do not even need to pay attention to get an A.
Reads off powerpoint. Not really anything else. Final counts so much more than the previous two midterms, so if you mess up on those two, do well on the final. If you do well on the two midterms and mess up the final, don't expect an A. Overall, very boring and very useless.
2 Midterms,Final, 4 easy excel assignments. Midterms are both fair-40 Q's(32 from slides,8 specific from textbook). He curves 6 points each midterm if you ask for it so speak up! Final is 50 Q's and is very similar. Just read all slides and textbook once b4 test and you will get an A-. If you want an A, attend all classes for 3% bonus.Recommended.
The class is very boring and the test come straight from the test bank provided by the textbook publisher. If you read the chapters once before the exam, you will do fine. Class is boring and pointless but if you have perfect attendence, your grade is bumped up by half a letter at the end.
He is funny! Pay attention in class and read the book.
Easy class and easygoing professor. There are a few assigned homeworks (like 3), but they are dirt-easy. Tests are easy too. Two midterms and a final. Many said the final was hard but if you just look over the three chapters in the book (slides are useless--questions come from the book), it's an easy final (not cumulative). Got an A-. Recommended.
This guy is awesome. I didn't try at all and got a decent grade. 3 tests, 3 hw assignments, all easy. DON'T BUY THE BOOK, it was a waste of money since the slides cover everything.
Very easy to ace his class - Just study the slides for an hour before you go take his exam.. I got a B minus because I didn't even bother studying for his exams.. Very easy professor, just sit in the class, use your phone.. study slides an hour before the exam and you're good to go.. 4 very easy assignments which require no skill or effort
Great Professor! He gives homework which if done regularly will help you study in the exam.
Very nice and easy prof! Dont buy the book!!!
I love Prof Taksa!!! He's really the man, simply put. Workload isn't much, just a few easy homework assignments he shows you how to do in class. You will need the book for the exams. Overall easy class and he's hilarious. best professor I've had yet I would take him again
His tests are straight from the textbook. If you come to all classes, you'll get a bump in your grade. The homeworks are simple and he gives you exact directions how to do it. He says participation is mandatory but I got an A and barely spoke but I did well on the tests which are easy if you study (all memorization and he curves). Take him!
He's funny and never gets boring. Just memorize ALL the bolded words in the textbook and the slides and it'll be an easy A. Curves based on the highest grade and gives an extra boost to your final grade if you attend ALL of his classes. He takes attendance himself so you can't have a friend sign in for you. Would highly recommend him.
This guy is interesting. He is pretty boring, material is boring and all of his exams are 100% out of the textbook which i hated. It is all about memorization, nothing to understand. I disliked the class, i got an A- but i do not feel it was worth my time. This guy is cool though, i liked him as a person, but not as a professor.
Professor Taksa is awesome. He cancels class every now and then so that you can study for quizzes. He gives an assignment for each month. Word of advice: study the slides he posts on blackboard and do not ignore the stories at the end of the chapters. If you ignore this advice, you'll regret it. Textbook is necessary.
Easy class. Tests are taken directly from the slides he gives out. He randomly cancels class which is nice to study for quizzes. Take him
This guy is a horrible teacher. He iterally does nothing for his salary. All his tests and slides come from the textbook database. He expects you to literally memorize entire chapters because they're so short. It ends up being a lot of work when he throws 7 chapters at you though.
You have to read the book in this class or you will not do well. Can't always complain about the professor. IMO, he did his best to keep the class interactive with a great sense of humor and encouraging participation Very nice person & Professor! got an A, highly recommended!
Professor Taksa makes really boring material interesting! He knows a lot. Also, he curves all the exams.Got an A. Take!
His class is so boring, he tries to make jokes from time to time but he mainly shows his slides. He sends way too many assignments online and doesn't help when you email him. Dont take him!
This Professor is very nice. He's helps a lot and every time if you have any questions he's will reply you. Sometime class was boring but he's so funny guy. I like his class, But he give us a lot of online assignment.
This guy cannot teach. He just rapidly goes through the slides and gives you useless "reviews" for the tests that have NOTHING to do with the real exam. The questions on the exam are REALLY hard and the class average ended up being a 50 WITH a curve. This man doesn't do anything about it and then he questions the class on why they did so bad.
I think he was the worst professor I had at Baruch. Almost every class consisted of him asking us the answers to the HW quest's and he would make obnoxious comments about who was/wasnt answering them. His tests were impossible, basically just copying them out of a test bank. Mandatory attendance. Too old. Don't take.
Overall, he is a nice and smart professor. He gives two midterms, one final. He has few homeworks using excel but he shows it over and over in class so it is easy to do. He jokes around while lectures to keep it interesting and he is funny. Attend ALL his classes and you receive a 2 % extra for the final grade. If you take CIS please take Taksa.
very good professor, smart and funny. Be nice to him and he'll be nice to you. Gives 2 midterms, final and 5 easy exell assignments. attend, read the book, do your best on the test. he'll give a good curve and you get A
Easy A but so boring. All you need to do is read the textbook
VERY BORING CLASS.Purchase the textbook because you'll be teaching yourself. He "lectures" about the chapters that will be on the exam but you have no clue what he is talking about. Overall , he's an easy A/B if you study. He curves so that's a plus. Take him or a easy grade.
love this prof. class was very easy. All of the exams questions were from the Wiley's quiz. it was m/c. Few excel homeworks. he also gave extra 5% for all exams. lowest grade dropped. 1 group presentation just 1 minute for each member. Attendance is mandatory. he is very helpful if you have any question just ask him via email. take him!!!
Bus Intelligence class. Taksa really cares about participation. Makes it seem like its only part of your grade, exams are actually 60% of grade from loooong chapters. Let's you use cheat-sheet though. Good class but not recommended for all unless you like what the subject matter is. Do good on exams and participate and you'll get a good grade.
Professor Taksa is very knowledgable. The class is boring, and the tests will be hard. CIS term and concept aren't most people's everyday thing. So the midterms are actually pretty rigorous, especially if you dont read. If you read read read, you might get an 80. But good news is, he actually curves! So getting 80s is not bad because, like me, A+
This class is so frustrating. 90% of the time I don't understand what this guy is talking about. He goes through the slides which doesn't even come out in the exams and makes the weirdest comments and questions ever. I am literally confused during lectures. His midterms are hard you gotta READ and study the textbook and class is super booooring...
Great professor and a good guy overall. Helps the student as much as he can and gives really good feedback. This was a hybrid class which made things a little more difficult but just go over the slides and read the textbook and you should be fine. He gives really good advice for job interviews and presentability. I would take him again
He is an ok professor. His class is very easy as long as you read the textbook and do the connect problems. Tests are straightforward. They're pretty much definitions and connect problems. He is terrible at explaining the writing assignments. He makes it very easy for you to get a good grade, so take advantage. He also has you do a group project.
He is such a nice guy! CIS is not an entertaining subject at all. Lots of reading, a lot of definitions. This course was a hybrid so there was a lot of work. VERY managable tho. Online quizzes, Access, Excel, group project and writing assignments. He curves, picks best great out of the two midterms, funny. Would definetely take again.
Hybrid. Easy quizzes every class so you must show up to class. 15% of grade is based on an intensive group project. Exams are difficult. One of the hardest CIS 2200 at Baruch, definitely makes you work for and study for a good grade. All learning is on your own, no teaching during class. Fun Professor though.
Hybrid class. A lot of things to do for the class but they were pretty easy. Online hw quizzes each week and clicker quizzes in class based off the reading/hw. Group project that was 15% of the grade and kinda tedious. Midterms and final is multiple choice. ALWAYS available over email. Pretty good for a hybrid class, would deff recommend.
Two midterms. One final. One group project. Clicker quiz every class so you have to show up. Excel assignments. Access assignments. Read the textbook for the exams. That's the only way to study. Got a 68 on the first midterm and ended up with a 98 average in the class. Anything can happen in this class. Taksa can't teach, but oh well. Easy A
Hes a nice guy and teacher. For his hybrid class theres online quizzes every week. Class is easy and a clicker quiz in class every week. He lets you talk during them though. His tests are very tough and he replaces your first midterm grade with the second of you do better. Hes good except for his tests.
Do yourself a favor, do not take this course, just don't. Unless you want to teach yourself computer information systems. There is no teaching to be found at all. Two midterms, three excel assignments, one access assignment, one group project, one final exam, and one group project. You will teach yourself and nothing is reinforced in class.
funny guy, homework and quizzes are easy but tests are hard. you gotta read every chapter to do good on tests. class and lectures arent so bad though.
omg... so much homework from textbook. all his tests and clicker quizzes are based on textbook. he's nice, witty, funny but don't get on his bad side. we also have projects, excel, extra credit. you literally have to memorize textbook. An A is doable if you put in a lot of effort
in his hybrid class he doesnt teach at all. u have to learn everything urself with connect. in class you take a quiz about that weeks chapter and do nothing else. super easy to cheat on it. access &excel asignments are very easy and help boost your grade. if you do bad on exams he gives options to boost it. every absence is -1 off ur final grade
cant really rate him as a professor bc he doesnt teach at all in the hybrid class. the 2 midterms and final combined are only like 45% of your grade. the projects and SAM count for much more and it is super easy, i got 100 on every single one. group project is fair. will replace midterm 1 with midterm 2 grade if you do better. easy B, doable A
This class is so hard for no reason. The professor is extremely nice, answers emails but he gives way too much work. 3 quizzes due every week, clickers used in class, group project, 2 midterms and one final ( which are so hard) you need to read the entire textbook, he also gives SAM assignments, and blackboard assignments. DO not take.
He is very nice. Easy A for those who are ready to work. Test are hard though, but he gives an extra credit a lot. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience of taking his class. I would recommend that professor
for most of the classes, we just answered clicker questions, all questions from the hw assigned. hw every week. sam/excel/access assignments. you're on your own on learning things, he provides instructions and you should be on your own from there. 3 heavy packed exams+final. exams non-cumulative. one group project- a brochure with calculations.
Hybrid class. His class time consists of clicker quizzes, but as of Fall 2018 clickers won't be in use so good luck, he didn't lecture us. He tries to help, but not exactly the best. The textbook and online practice questions are your best friends. 1 group brochure project that's not hard, just stupidly tedious. Start it ASAP. 2 midterms, 1 final.
Be on top of your work. Read textbook. Actually learned from this class. Kind person. Always willing to help students to the best of his ability. If you stay on top of the work, you will be fine. Don't leave everything for last minute. He gives a lot of assignments so it is a lot easier for you to get a good grade.
Unnecessarily extra. Around 4 hw assignments due every week, quizzes on 3-4 chapters per week (which force you to memorize the textbook WORD FOR WORD), three group projects, SAM assignments, and 2 midterms+1 final. If you do better on the 2nd midterm, he will count it twice instead of the first one. Overall, nice professor, but hard class
Didn't learn anything in this class. When we were learning how to do VBA, he rushed it completely and it made everything very confusing. There's one exam and the final. Both exams had between 85-100 questions. There's also SAM projects and HW online. He's not the worst but if you can take another professor instead, I would suggest it.
If you don't like sarcasm, he'll come off as rude. Online textbook, 1- 85 multiple choice midterm, 1 take-home VBA midterm, 2 group projects, 1 - 85 multiple choice final. Multiple choice is based off textbook. Hard class if you don't like to self-teach because you only attend class for the attendance and weekly quizzes which are online.
I highly suggest you take this professor if it's online. He's a fair to lenient grader with assignments/exams that he has control of grading. He can come off as cocky sometimes, but he'll help solve your issues and answer your emails unlike some profs. It's primarily a self-learning class and emphasizes that you're on your own so don't cry about it
This guy has the worst combination of a professor. He has a bad attitude and yells at students for not knowing things when he doesnt teach properly in the first place. He makes a midterm out of learning Visual Basics for Applications while he doesnt teach us how to do any of it when no one knows how to code. Avoid this guy at all costs.
Literally the worst professor you can ever have. He does not care about his students and whenever a question is asked, he would catch and attitude and subliminally call us stupid for not knowing the answer for our question. There was a VBA midterm and literally most of the class failed due to his poor "teaching" style. PLEASE STAY AWAY
I took this professor bc it was hybrid so you have to rely on yourself to learn the materials. This is a beginner CIS class so it wasn't too hard. The only thing that f me up was the VBA midterm. There are 2 projects that you can choose to work on by yourself which is what I did bc I was definitely not relying on my classmates on my grade
He is a little strict and does not tolerate excuses at all so before you join this class, place your best foot forward. Very disciplined and will treat you like a grown adult.
Can come off as rude at times, but knows the material well. 1-2 quizzes every class. 2 midterms (one being VBA) and a final.
I do not recommend taking this professor. A lot of unnecessary assignments and projects that he offers no clear guidance. There is also a VBA midterm that the class had very little preparation for. The material for the class isn't hard but his group projects and midterm will bring your grade down a lot if you are unable to get everything correct.
There were 2 chapters to read each week & 25 mc questions for each which wasn't hard, just a little time-consuming. He tries to crack a few jokes in class and if you ask a question in class, most of the time he will answer it well as long as you're not asking him about how to buy the textbook or set up something on your computer.
The worst and mean Professor. For little things he got mad so many assignments Homework and quizzes
The class was taught on Wiley Plus. It sucked, the readings took hours, the professor couldn't control his class, and he made things unclear. Exams were a huge guessing game, even if you studied. The professor tried, but it was just a complete mess. The students suffered a lot. There were 2 "group projects," but he allowed you to do them alone.
VERY RUDE. Gets mad over small things and has no tolerance for students.
PUT SOME EFFORT I guarantee you you will get an A, no questions. People ask stupid questions that 30 people asked before, of course he'd get mad, even I would. Just take this class using your head, it's not an EASY course, so put in some elbow grease. Very intelligent, respectful, and helpful if you reciprocate respect. Doesn't take BS.
Great professor, be ready to read the textbook and you will be ok
CIS 2200 is a tough subject, but Professor Taksa is very reasonable and gives good explanations for the material. He is also very patient and creates an environment where you feel comfortable getting something wrong and learning from your mistakes. He is never condescending and is overall a solid guy. I'm grateful that I'm taking his class
Best CIS prof! He can be a little mean at times but its due to people constantly re-asking the same questions. Pay attention in class!MIS quizzes=7%,VBA quizzes=7%,MID=20%,SAM=8%, Excel group project=7%, Access GP=9%, SONA=2%, and Final 40%. VBA is easy with him idk why ppl are complaining. Final was 90mc in 2 hrs which was unfair. I recommend him!
Quizzes and tests are extremely hard and very textbook heavy. No curve besides 2 pts on the final grade and tough long projects and pop quizzes. Also sends out random polls to check attendance.
You can't go wrong with Taksa. He grades everything very quickly, lectures are entertaining, and he knows his stuff. Considering that there aren't many good teachers in the CIS department, seize the opportunity to take his class. You won't regret it
Listen, this is a tough class. But Professor is actually quite fair if you submit things on time, listen in class, and do the work. Midterm was easy, final was hard, dot he practice questions on Wiley for the MIS concepts quizzes. VBA pay attention in class.
Good professor. Pretty easy class.
Great professor. Will go over the same question as many times as you need to understand it. I actually learned how to program and was my favorite class. He can have an attitude but thats what you get when you ask stupid questions/ questions hes answered 10 times. Great sense of humor too. Highly recommend
HORRIBLE! JUST HORRIBLE! Please for your own sake avoid this professor at all cost, unless you like being yelled at and he is absolutely no help at all. If I had to describe him HEARTLESS. There's a part of the course where vba excel is taught. He explains it multiple times in class but a week later when we review he changes the answer...
Quizzes/HW assignments, (same for every class), 1 Excel 'group' project (allowed solo), midterm/final. Professor is EASY, but occasionally has an attitude mainly bc students repeatedly ask the same questions or fail to follow instructions that he says/emails/and posts. Actively encourages participation and will go over material as much as you ask.
Your grade for this class totally depend on how you study. The class itself is very difficult. He gives clear instructions. 12% was MIS quizzes, midterm was 25% and final was 30%. Group project is 9% and excel quiz is 10% so u have to study a lot.
Homework... but all the professors give the same homework and departmental tests. This class has same assignments no matter who your professor is. Do the work, check your emails. Its online-open-book for crying out loud. Negative review or bad grades probably sat away from computer and waited for notification that there was an attendance poll.
I usually do not write reviews, but this professor is rude. He yells at the kids in the class. It is an online class & he has clear grading criteria. However, he asks people to participate and then when you do, he yells at you. The comments about his attitude are all true! Also, he never turns on his camera, so no one knows how he looks.
Camera not required or necessary. He shares his screen when reviewing PowerPoints and walks you through applications of excel and VBA. Encourages participation. If you are wrong, he isn't afraid to tell you so. People who get "yelled" at are the people who spend more time asking for answers and leniency rather than do the work. A+ without studying.
I learned so much in this class. A lot of the material is meaningless, but the Excel content was great. This is something I will use in the future. Professor occasionally has a poor attitude, but if you take his course you will soon realize why. It is very easy to receive an A as long as you show up, disregard his personality, and do the work.
Professor Taksa can be a bit challenging, but the material is useful. His teaching style takes some adjusting, but if you stay engaged and use resources like unstuckstudy, you can do well. The Excel and VBA content is valuable, even if the professor's attitude is hit or miss.
