Isha is new at the college but she is a good teacher. It is not very important to attend class though because the notes that she writes on the board are exactly what is written in the textbook. The class discussions were fun, and she is very easy to understand despite the fact that English is not her first language. I would recommend this class.
she lies about whats actually on the exams and favors immensely who talks the most in class.
She was a good prof that definately knew her stuff. The only issue was that she loves to get off topic really easily and finds it hard getting back onto topic. At times it seemed that covering the material was somewhat rushed. All in all she was a good prof and had lots to say on all issues.
isha gave the easiest essay assignments i have ever recieved in my life! it was basically answering 3 questions and making them into paragraphs. Very easy! her notes follow the text exactly and the rest of the class was spent arguing about current issues. it was fun and an easy mark!
Isha is an amazing teacher. One would be previledged to take her class. It's extremely interesting, and you should do the readings before class, they're very short, but make the discussions way more interesting and fueled...I highly recommend her class
This was my first sociology class and i never want to take one again. She doesnt use blackboard so you cant find out when things are due or what your grades are. she contradicts things that ive learned in my cultural anthropology classes. she expects too much for written answer questions (which are the only questions on tests. + akward environment.
Good prof. Open to all opinions. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go you'll find out what keywords she would want to hear for essays and tests. Only 2 essays and 3 tests (including final). I would recommend her.
I loved Isha!! Probably my favorite teacher ever. She is so smart and keeps class interesting.
she is the best teacher ever! very helpful and kind, makes class very interesting. Her assignments and quizzes aren't so bad either, u just need to keep up with the reading, marks fairly and is open to lots of extra help. A great person and one of the bestest teachers ive ever had!
Best teacher! She is fun, entertaining and hilarious. Take her class, it is fairly easy, as long as you attend and do the readings. Would definitely take any of her classes again.
Awesome awesome teacher. Provides a great atmosphere and is very open to discussion. Entertaining and funny as all hell. Highly recomended.
Isha's super funny and one of the nicest teachers you could ask for. I found the textbook dull but course packet articles were okay. Far too much reading and not enough time given to study, but marked fairly. The three "pieces of advice" I'll always remember: "Kill old people, don't have babies, and if you do, you'll be terrible mothers."
Isha is great! A wondeful woman. Helpful, kind, and wants you to learn.
I have her as my professor right now and I love her! She has a great sense of humor, and keeps the class alive. I hope I will get another opportunity to take a class with her. I love her!
She's all over the place. She's not consistent and doesn't tell you what she expects from you. She's funny but when anyone in the class tried to voice an opinion she would interject with something irrelevant and off topic.
I LOVED being in her class, she was an awesome professor!
Awesome class! i think everyone should take sociology!
Had her a couple of times now. She's awesome hands down. She knows what she's doing and she'll help you understand and learn in any way she can. Highly recommended . Also very fair and doesn't hold grudges which is a sigh of relief considering absences on Friday classes
I was very pleased at the level of instruction I received from Isha. She is a very intelligent woman and the passion she has for sociology is contagious. This class was an option for me and I took it purely out of scheduling convenience. It was one of the most serendipitous choices I have made since starting at MRU.
Great prof: engaging, fun, fair marker, and very helpful. Attendance not mandatory but I hated missing the class because it was so enjoyable.
Isha is absolutely wonderful and willing to help you out with whatever you need. She is very understanding of the fact her students are busy with other classes. Have just started my second course with her and am looking forward to it!! Attendance is highly recommended, great class atmosphere!!
Isha was one of the best profs I have had at Mount Royal. She is hilarious, and she is always able to get a good class discussions going. She is old school in that she still writes on the blackboard, but her style of teaching was perfect for me, and I learned so much interesting stuff in her class. She has a true passion and is a wonderful teacher.
Of the six years that I've been here at MRU, I have to say, this was by far the best class I have ever been in. In fact, I think this is one of the few classes that I enjoyed so much that I actually gave 100% of my attention to. I hated missing a class, because her lectures are so interesting and thought-provoking. Thanks Isha!
She is a great Sociology prof. I am so glad I took a class with her. She is really helpful in class and outside. Some readings are more difficult than others, but she help the best she can. One of the best profs I have had so far. If you like Sociology take one of her classes.
I was, and still am, incredibly upset about this professor. The information was very interesting, but her expectations were exceeding a 2000 level course. When asking a question, she would beat around it. She failed to be accessible via email and was unreliable. Liked her as a person, however awful as a teacher.
Awesome prof! She always engages with the students and is incredibly helpful. I would take another class with her. She's also a very fair marker. She is also funny.
She's a very sweet lady, but the content was extremely boring and dry. She wasn't especially clear on assignments, and didn't give nearly enough time for the midterm (which was easy, but involved more writing than possible in a 90 minute class). Honestly I wouldn't take another class with her.
Isha's class is very dry. She tries to use powerpoint but obviously she doesn't know how to use it properly since her slides never make sense. She really likes class discussions and people who speak up. Very hard marker, all her tests are written. No multiple choice, get a zero on questions if it doesn't have a certain word she's looking for.
Isha completely broke FOIP and posted our names and grades at the front of the class before the final. Doesn't use blackboard and will not give feedback or promptly return assignments. Nice person, very inattentive prof.
She's a fair marker and has very reasonable guidelines. As long as you read the textbook you'll do just fine. As a tip, participate in group discussions.
Isha's assignments and exams are all written work, there are no multiple choice in her class. Lots of papers, but hey it's social science, you have to write. Isha really plays the devil's advocate in her lectures, she really gets your thinking. However she is the worst at responding to emails, so get to know your classmates.
Isha is very nice, however her classes are difficult and too dry. She expects too much knowledge and understanding.
Isha is one of the worst profs I've had. She doesn't post marks on BB, her powerpoints make no sense, so going to class is essential. She is also a very tough marker. If you don't have the certain word she is looking for its a 0. Definitely unfair since all of her tests are written, no MC.
Isha is a great professor, her classes are often long and dry but she fills it with humour. You will be reading quite a bit, or you won't pass. 3 short papers and 3 in-class quizzes. Loved her as a person, and found lecture material very interesting.
Isha can be quite confusing and difficult to follow - however, she offers and welcomes every opportunity a student has to ask for help. Very fair, she understands that undergrads are not scholars. A lovely woman with a passion for sociology.
Isha does not assign due dates ahead of time so papers are dropped on you with a weeks notice. There were too many papers and the exams were very hard as well. The lectures are very dull and hard to follow. She is nice in the sense that she will always give you an extension on the papers but she is a tough marker and expects way too much.
Isha is passionate about sociology! she is an AMAZING professor and an amazing woman. It is easy to get an A in her classes as long as you put time into readings and a few hours of studying before tests. Isha if you read this, Please start putting your powerpoints into full screen! it drives me nuts that you always have it in edit mode.
Isha is brilliant, one smartest people in the department. I use what she taught me in Classical Theory all the time in my higher level sociology courses. Its a hard course but it is the basis for all of your sociology degree. She wants you to learn and is understanding. Would recommend to anyone!
Isha is a great prof she gives you relevant readings and her power points give you ample information to be able to get good marks on papers and quizzes. No complaints!
Amazing teacher, honestly the only reason I came onto RATE MY PROF was to see what other classes she teaches. I think if you are not ready to do the average work per a class then good luck doing good in any university class. I even asked for a extension on a paper, and she had no problems, and I asked for help and feedback. She is super funny
Isha makes discussions about sociological theory interesting and funny. She loves to talk so she often goes off on long tangents. She is very inspirational and clearly wants the best for all students. The course requires a lot of dry reading but she does a good job of making things relatable. Loved her!
Isha is charismatic, an easy marker and attendance doesn't matter in her class. However, she takes a long time to mark assignments and is often behind on posting readings on blackboard. She often goes on tangents and doesn't believe in forced class participation so a lot of lectures are spent with her talking with a blank powerpoint behind her.
Isha is extremely knowledgable! and knows what shes talking about
Isha is brilliant. she knows what shes talking about when she lectures. Gives an outline for her exams and doesn't usually mark the papers hard.
-Doesn't post anything on BB -Doesn't believe in MC -Read the textbook or you will fail -Her "short" answers on the exams are actually long answers. Be aware to write at least a paragraph per answer and link it all !!! -Don't take her if you can. Bad prof
Isha is one of the best professors I have ever had. She never fails to make the class laugh. Take any class you can with her. She is knowledgable, approachable, and understanding. Her passion for teaching and sociology exudes through her lectures. She pushes you with a lot of readings and writing, but this is university, sooo... reality check. :)
Isha is the most disorganized instructor I've ever had in my life.
Extremely difficult but very funny prof
Isha is my favourite prof at MRU. She is super knowledgeable, funny and approachable. She is a pretty easy/fair marker and assignments are pretty easy. However, you'll have to takes notes since the power-points alone aren't sufficient
Isha is amazing. If you work hard in her class, then there is nothing to worry about. She is extremely fair. She is more than willing to listen to her students and she will do anything to help them. She is very knowledgeable and passionate. Absolutely love her !
i love Isha, shes so easy going, extends deadlines, will end class early if she doesnt feel like being there either. you have to go to class, the text is needed, but she expands so much in class and you wont pass without the info from class. Such a sweet lady, she'll do anything for you.
Bless her heart, she is so sweet and kind hearted, will do anything to help her students, amazing professor.
I had her for SLGY 2131 and found it rather difficult with her because I hadn't understood her teaching style, but I was rather inattentive as a student. Now this semester, with the level of effort I put in as a student, she gives back as a Prof. Caring, highly intelligent, and engages the class and is willing to learn about our lives as yng adults
Isha loves to hear her own voice BUT it's ok because she has a lot of amazing things to say. I really enjoyed how she taught the class. She never forces participation and really enjoys student contributions, positive or negative she welcomes it all. She marks fair and is flexible if life gets in the way and you cannot get a paper in on time.
I love Isha, I was so scared of her at first but I love this woman. She is so easy going and makes some hard theory easy to understand. She will stop and go over something if you arent sure and is very easy going about deadlines and handing in assignments. I hope to take more of her classes in the future!
Isha's development class really helped me in my undergrad. She is passionate about Macro sociology. She re-reads all of her course materials before class and engages during lectures, so please do your readings so you understand what she is talking about. You cannot learn theory without putting in the work. I am glad I took 3 courses with her.
She's so precious! she is so sweet and gentle and really wants to see you succeed. she makes the concepts easy to understand. we only had 3 papers, the midterm and final. the exams weren't that awful. she pushes you to be your best. we pick the due dates as a class which is helpful. textbook reading is recommended even though she goes in-depth!
Isha has to be one of the most understanding and dedicated professors I have had at MRU. She is very open to any sort of class discussion or class suggestion (even online) regarding assignments and course material. There is quite a bit of reading to be done, 3 books specifically for this class, but they were good books! Good lectures!
This was the most boring class i've ever taken. every week there was 2-4 readings that needed to be done before class and i found it so hard to retain information because there was so much reading and her lectures are so content heavy. there were 3 papers, a midterm and final. She was not clear on what she wanted on the papers
Isha is a very nice person and is so passionate about her field of study. However, I wouldn't recommend taking an online class with her because her way of lecturing is conversation based. No PowerPoints or anything of that nature, so it was difficult to pay attention or understand key points. I think her teaching style is better for in-person.
Isha has to be one of the kindest and most understanding professors I've had at MRU. Her lectures are great, very useful, and coincide with the required textbook. She was very organized, on time, and included students in her class discussions. Show up to class, be respectful, and you will do just fine. By far one of my favorite professors!
She is very passionate about what she teaches, she is also a very understanding person and cares about your input in class. I'd take one of her classes again.
2 papers, midterm and a final. Not too bad at the surface. Her slides do get posted on blackboard but they wont make sense unless youve gone to class.
Would not take an online class with her again. She's kind but I sometimes question it when I send her emails because she never answers emails
She is overall a very kind and good prof - but one thing I found difficult in this class was that she was a tough grader in my opinion (on both tests and essays). But she is very friendly and if you ask for help she will be more than happy to be there for you.
I love Isha. SO much. You need to do the readings, and attend class. She had three papers for this class, two quizzes, one midterm and one final. What she is looking for is always very clear. I have heard she is not great with students who require extra time on tests, or accessibilities. If you participate in class chats you will do better.
Isha is a great professor she makes funny jokes.
i LOVE Isha!! she is so sweet, caring, and overall an amazing prof. this is my third class with her and it is by far my favourite. her lectures were amazing, content and books were so good. was quite a bit of reading but everything was so interesting that i did not mind. def would recommend this class to anyone in 4th year.
This course is a requirement for BA Sociology and it can be very dry since it's all theory. However, Isha made it amazing. She is very passionate about what she teaches and makes you want to learn. Attendance is not mandatory but I highly recommend showing up because her lectures are very helpful.
Isha may be one of my favourite professors. she is very caring and super passionate about her topics and students. she is a hard marker BUT she wants you to succeed and finds joy in making sure you are doing your best. love that women.
Dr. Sharma calls on people and makes you feel bad about answers if she doesn't agree, even though she adamantly claims not to. Lets students decide timelines for assignments which is good and bad. Her lectures slides are awful, so its more important to listen but it feels very scattered. She seems very disorganized and judgemental.
Isha had energy and excitement I don't see often with professors. 3 papers, a midterm, final and a couple quizzes. Slides are only helpful if you go to class and add notes of what she says which I found to usually be helpful with papers. She jokes with students but it comes from wanting her students to do well. A breath of fresh air in my opinion.
I have taken 2 classes with Isha, she's awesome! Attendance is not mandatory, her PowerPoint slides are not great, and she assigns a lot of reading. You will struggle in her class if you don't do the readings. If you do the readings and participate in her class it's quite easy to get an A.
Will never reply to emails unless you send a second email asking to reply to the first one. The presentation slides are really hard to follow through by itself so if you miss a class, you will miss a lot of information. Another thing I hated is she never posts grades to D2L, you will only know your final grade after the class is finished.
Isha is a great prof. Everything was based off of the book, but showing up in class helps you understand better because she does great at elaborating on things.
Isha is an excellent prof. She's very relatable and caring. She will push students during discussion because she's just trying to make you think. She knows her material and is good at communicating it. Tonnes of reading, and if you don't do it, you'll be lost in the lectures and will have a hard time passing.
Isha is a very lovely professor. She is hard to reach outside class hours, and her lectures are very quick and heavy. She relies 100% on the textbook. She does have a lot of passion for this course, and I believe she works hard to make sure her students understand because theory is difficult. Be prepared to read a lot of information.
Prof. Sharma turned a daunting course into a fun and intellectually-stimulating class that I looked forwards to every week! The course work is definitely a little challenging, with quite a bit or reading, but Prof. Sharma makes sure to explain everything and helps you with every step! Gives great feedback, and genuinely wants you to do well!
I genuinely love Isha! She is so sweet and so understanding. Tries her best to make you understand the material she teaches. Read the textbook which will be simplified in her slides later on. She sometimes goes too quick but will release the slides as fast as she can. Attend her classes and you will be all good to go
Very charismatic. Attendance not mandatory, but highly recommended; slides don't explain much, she discusses in class and engages in conversation with students during lectures. Textbook is MANDATORY, especially for papers. Can be a little disorganized, but makes up for it, easy marker. Very fair and flexible about deadlines, lets students choose.
mixed reviews. she's not bad by any means but she never replies to emails, never posts anything on d2l, rarely posts when the quizzes will be. i had to go on a scavenger hunt to figure out when it would be because i missed 1 class. 3 quizzes, 3 papers, midterm and final. it's alright but just be prepared to hand write quizzes midterm and final.
Isha is excellent. She does have higher expectations for students, but makes up for it in her teaching ability and exam reviews. Excellent lecturer; decently hard exams, but she really does help prepare for them. Would recommend.
