He is not a very helpful teachers. His tests are hard, give's no study guides. He expects a lot out of his students. Haven't really learned anything. His lecture notes consist of drawings?

Lectures extremely boring and hard to follow. Lecture notes do nothing for you. Tests have tons of subjects not covered in class. I felt like he didn't know what he was doing.

he is a first year teacher who isn't clear on what he's teaching. His tests got easy at the end of the semester, he took all questions from the online quizzes.no need to go to class you could teach yourself better. very nice man but has a weird way of teaching.

He is the worst teacher I have had so far at NEIU, he believed in cramming in hard facts and obviously had no idea on how to teach but only from the book. Dreadfully bad notes and horrible lectures.

Have taken many natural science classes before and never encountered a more USELESS PROFESSOR. He's a week link in the Science Dept. Would NEVER take a class with him again, and advise peers to avoid his classes as well. Find a better instructor for your $$. Conveys remedial knowledge of cirriculum.

Good teacher. Getting comfortable with his large lecture classes. He has many students and a compressed amount of time...very nice and passionate about material. His tests are standardized but he gives the students extra credit oppurtunities

I don't know what people are complaining about. Prof. Ruderfer was clear, helpful and very interested in his students. Sure, he makes you work, but this is college! He actually got me interested in the subject.

I am NOT interested in biology, and this man miraculously made me excited and helped me earn an A in this course---all in a insanely packed/short summer semester of only 6 weeks! He is passionate and uses great descriptions to help you understand the material. I learned more in this class than I have in any other!

AWFUL worst ive ever had.horrible lectures but youre forced to attend b/c of his random quizzes. no idea what the heck he's talking about. very slow & always goes off on tangents.youll leave his class confused & drained.stupid lectures & pointless discussions i wish i could take those hours of my life back-not at all worth the A i got in the class

Obviously a smart guy teaching basic concepts to people who don't care much. As an adult taking the course, I must say that had I been given this explanation of the scientific method in 8th grade I may have become a scientist. His passion is obvious. I dig the random number generator for pop questions in class. That said, the lectures are remedial.

lectures WERE WAY TO MUCH!! if u r taking one class then its ok but not if u have more than 1- for an intro class i felt like it was a graduate class- too much info was expected- tests were also to much info- and he ran through the material so no one had a chance to really understand the concepts- nice guy but not good for an intro

I think only brain dead slackers don't like Dr. Rudefer. If that is you, don't take his class. If you are interested in learning from an intelligent teacher with a passion for his subject then you will like him as much as I did.

I thought this class was an easy “A”. Those who didn’t attend lecture or lab totally failed the class, the lecture are boring yes but that’s because the there is a ton of information to be covered, in such a short amount of time. If you put no effort in the class and fail don’t bash the teacher, it’s your pride talking because you didn’t try!

he is the worst proffesor I've ever had he sucks big time he has ramdom questions wich confuse you more He goes " You are right but that is not the question I'm looking for" then he goes to someone else and ask the same question. He'll ask the question for 20 minutes. His tests suck they are confusing well at least from the second test on he sucks

First he was very hard, unclear with what he wants us to study,so we had to study everything.Every week quizes,so much study like for exams.I did't have time to study for other classes because of this one. The lab homeworks for each took like 8 hours.Lecture doesnt help at all!A lot of students complain to him.Than he change for better and was ok!

I think that many students in the class got an A or B. This class was difficult at the beginning. He didnt give any notes just slides with pictures from the book. We needed to know everything that was in the book!!No time to study for other classes! Labs were crazy; he gave a lot of questions as a homework and some of them didnt make any sense!

He is a good teacher. Frankly the people in his class acted like high school students. When you're in college it's a good idea to listen in class, so if you listen and take the web quizzes you'll be alright

I hated this teacher. He'd tell you to focus on web quizes but bases test on other things as well that he never told you to study for. Slides in class don't help you study they just make you more confused. and I didn't talk in class but damn his class was freaking boring. he dwelled on the same thing far more than needed. I would never recommend,

i ended up failing his class. I was 1% away from a "C". I totally agree with the person below me. He likes to dwell on the same thing all the time, and his tests are extremely difficult. The webquizzes didn't even relate to his lectures. Despite his unorganized ways, i did learn a few things. Just wish i passed though. I don't recommend him.

He is my favorite science teacher. I have never learned more in a class in my entire life. This teacher tries to make Biology interesting and fun. You do not simply memorize bits and pieces of science just for the tests. I remember most of what I learned in the class to this day.

Wonderful Professor, loves what he teaches and loves teaching. Always willing to take extra time to help students grasp the complicated concepts of biology, but you do have to put your work in.

His tests were random and not in line with the quizes. I don't mind working for my grade but the volume in this class is ridiculous. Good luck passing when the class average for most assignments was around a 65 %.

Extremely intelligent man! His classes are informative and educational. Also, Professor Ruderfer is available for questions and he responds to e-mail quickly. I just completed my final exam for Bio-104-03 and I believe I did very well. I am interested in taking another Biology class he will be teaching in Spring 2007.

Very creative and funny. I enjoyed his class and the subject (environment) is timely. He is fair but tests do require study. Multiple choice questions can be reviewed on a website. He provides good notes also.

Professor Ruderfer may be one of the hardest instructors at Northeastern. However, you will learn quite a lot about the subjects he teaches. Read the text, review lecture notes, and lab material. If you are serious about a quality education, take one of his classes. Also, he is quite studly! So sexy!!!!!!!!

25 assignmts,3 exams+final-lot of reading from the text-do at home and ques. will be answered in class becoz of vol. of coursework & lack of time.Excellent prof- professional,fair,devoted,wellprepared,explains well.Exam ques all from webquiz(easy),but need to read/study/turn in assignments promptly& consistently to get A.Take ONLY if ready to work.

He is a very knowledgable teacher. Lots of studying to do but if you listen, take notes, and do the web quizes you'll do fine. I would take him again and probably will for bio lab. If you don't want to do the work I wouldn't recomend him to you however. Great professor.

My GOD can it get ever so boring. If you had any interest in the class, take an Amp or a redbull to keep you up. in a class of 60, 12 always fell asleep along with me. I know I'm not alone. if you don't understand something I wish he was more clear whether your right or wrong on something and not dweel on your answer making you feel dumb.

I abo****ely love him! He's very funny and explains everything really well. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. The labs are a lot of fun. There is a lot of work but it's super easy. Take his class!

He was pretty easy. He makes his lectures pretty accessible, but only if you go to class. His slides can be pretty confusing, so make sure you take notes. He loves it when people ask questions. The big problem I had with him is a lot of what he put on tests and the final were never discussed in class, or the Qs were confusing. Use the book.

Teacher is not very flexible especially with night time students. Office hours are only during the day, so if you work you are screwed. E-mails are not responded to in a timely manner. Does not always deliver material in a clear manner.

Prof. Ruderfer explains stuff by relating it to life experiences, which makes things easy to comprehend, and repeats key points so many times is is painful. I enjoyed his class, and thought it was easy (do all of the reading, assignments and labs) and it's an A!

it was an honors class, so yeah there was work, but he was passionate about the subject which made it slightly more interesting. fair grader, and the assignments were easy, just tedious. good professor, it's more the subject that was boring.

This guy is way too analytical for me. Spends 4 weeks on ONE CHAPTER. He doesn't focus on the core concepts and is way too in depth to the point where you get lost. I lost interest quickly, considering his lectures are so repetitive and uninteresting. Takes forever to grade completion assignments. I'm hoping to pass with a "C".

I would advise people to avoid this class if your GPA matters to you. This professor is not easy and shows no concern for the fact that your not a bio major nor that you have other classes besides his. He will never give you answers, expects you to think in scientific theory. Also he says attendance doesn't matter and it does. Be careful.

Amazing Educator, his passion alone is reason enough to attend this class. All the individuals complaining about lectures must be either lazy or in need of remidial classes. He simplifies very complicated material and will explain over and over until you understand, he loves when students get involved.

Yes it can be a difficult class, but if you do the readings and actually show up for, and pay attention during his lectures you'll do fine. It's clear that he loves what he does. I'd definitely take him again.

Extremely difficult class. Gives way too much homework. In a lecture hall and its easy to ditch but dont. Otherwise you will be lost. Hes really nice and kinda hot for an older guy. Material is borning and sometimes you wanan give up. I dont recommend unless you major is BIO

Professor Ruderfer is awesome! Not being a Bio major myself, he will make you more interested in this field of study. His quizzes are online and his teaching is equilvalent to that of Bill Nye the Science Guy. All of his exams are multiple choice Scantron tests. I highly recommend him. Remember, "OXYGEN IS GREEDY!"

The worst teacher I have ever had. Keep in mind this class was for Middle School teachers and the only thing I learned was how not to be a teacher. Made students feel uncomfortable in class, was paranoid about people cheating, never handed anything back to us, and truly did not care about his students. He SHOULD NOT be teaching this class!

He was extremely understanding.My only complaint is the tests were very difficult. But I survived and I had him for BIO 104 as well as 100!In the same semester! And hes hot

extremely indepth with the material. took 2/3 of the semester to due just 2 chapters. then 5 chapters in 3 weeks! must read book, must attend class or will be lost. however quizzes online can be taken multiple times.

This was my second time around with him, and what a turn around much more understanding. I think he took his feedback from previous years to heart. Much more organized, his tests are still hard, but hey we are in College now things should be harder. He really loves to teach, and I wish I could take him again. I actually was looking forward to class

Hilarious in a nerdy way. Always engaged class and was very easy to understand. At times he moved a bit slow because he wouldn't move on from a subject until everyone understood. I would def take him again. tests arent the easiest but do all the homework and labs to get an A

Nice dude. Hard tests. But labs and other assignments make it possible to get the A. Lectures I find funky and sometimes dull (good patience may be needed). Would take another with him if I needed too. Always willing to help. Only complaint is that he seems paranoid with people cheating. Goes overboard with academic integrity. Makes me lol

This class is sort of frustrating but pretty simple. Has online quzzies you can do over plenty of times. His tests are hard but he just such a nice guy thats it really hard to fail his class. I honestly did not try at all and almost ended up with a B just shy of a point. Overall really nice, really helpful and hard to fail. Id take him again.

One of my favorite professors at NEIU. His enthusiasm is contagious and you can tell he is really passionate about the subject and teaching. He does a great job making difficult concepts understandable. The class is a lot of work, but is doable and he gives plenty of extra credit. I'd take more classes with him in a heartbeat.

If you aren't a science person but have to take a gen ed, take Ruderfer. He's like a Bill Nye. He makes everything easy to understand, he's there to help if you need it and the little phrases he uses to teach you will ring in your head forever. Years after you take him.

He is very passionate about the subject manner. However, when it comes to emailing him with questions, expect to not get a reply. Also we had a big project due and barely any in class discussion about it, with only 2 lecture weeks of class left. Tests are extremely hard, but doable. If you don't like working in groups, well you're out of luck.

Genuinely cares about his students. Responds to questions, but makes content questions more confusing. I feel I left this class with less knowledge than I should have. Huge semester long project was crammed into the last two weeks and didn't keep up with grades. Although I heard this was abnormal for him. Overall, it was an easy A.

Seriously, one of the nicest people ever, but he just wants us to know the "bigger concept" of Bio. His lecture slides are useless unless he is there to explain them, and the study quizzes ask very broad questions. Not an easy class unless you already understand biology. I wouldn't recommend him even though he is very nice and funny.
