Prof. Salame is leaving ccny. He is not teaching at ccny anymore from Fall 05. I think all students should protest with the department to bring him, so department will request him again to teach at ccny. Dep't put his name on schedule of classes to make students register for the classes. Watch Out!! It is sad that good prof leaving college.

College chemistry is not an easy class, especially if your math skill levels are low. However, Professor Salame cares a lot about his students. He is very considerate and he makes lectures fun. So far, he is one of the best lecture professors I've ever had. CCNY needs more professors like him. So if you want the best chemistry professor at CCNY

look here. any general "103" or 101 course means that its an easy course. and should not be so in depth as in course like chem 300 level or higher. especially for incomming freshmans,(majority of them take this course) which will not be fair for them. that's why his test are very intuitive. he doesn't take a general course seriously.

Look over his examples in class and read the book. His test got a bit harder than his sample exams he does give partial credit adn some extra points. If you go to workshop he raise your grade by a few points. Why not go? You get points and you learn some bs.

Well first off he is a good professor!His 1-on-1 skills are bad though in explaining. 3 tests 1 dropped, quiz a day after each test it helps your grade.Lab can only help grade. Do all examples he gives,and text work. sometimes he seems to favor pretty girls and makes it obvious, still cool guy. Mess up you can redeem yourself on the final, get A!

Overall, I would say that Professor Salame is not bad. He is definitely much more attuned to the fact that most students taking Sci 103 & 104 are not science majors, so he makes the class as painless as possible. The only serious problem with Prof. Salame is that he is a rabid liberal and he uses his class as a captive audience for his tirades.

Before i took the class i was afraid of chemistry but he made a big difference in my perception. great professor! class is not easy but if u pay attention he is extremely helpful.

He's flat out one of the best professors at CCNY, he's very helpful (you can live in his office and he really doesn't mind). He never shuts a question down, some of his questions come directly out of the book but you will NEED to study since it is Orgo Chem, regardless of whether he's hard or not. He's probably one of the more well-liked professors

The class was great. I did not think it was particularly easy. The final exam was outright rough. But, overall, the class was good. Of all the ridiculous requirements I've been herded through, this was the most enjoyable.

you should take this prof. got an A ion the class just do all the hw go 2 class cuz u never know when he will give extra creditr on tests or hw. drops the lowest grade and be sure to do good in the first and third test cuz the second test is the hardest. and fill out the surveys at the end of the year or there will be exceptions for the final.

I had him once again. Still a great professor. Highly recommended for CHEM 104 and maybe if you have the chance the graduate education class, one of the best classes I have taken at City College.

not as great as everyone says. look at old exams, pay attention when problems are done, attend review session = A. You don't learn any chemistry except for a few basic concepts. Mainly do problems that are plug-and-chug math, and his math is off from how to really do it. Doesn't matter anyway, as long as your ans is within 5% of "his ans".

He came in weekends, came early to class to answer homework questions, will go out of his way to teach the material. Not easy A but if you work you will get a good grade.

I had this professor for Chem 104 and Orgo 261. He is extremely helpful. He will be glad to help you but you also have to do your part in studying. He's not an easy A nor B, you need to know your stuff on his exams. He is the best professor I've had in CCNY.

He's good at teaching you to solve problems and if you do all the work he says to do, you'll be fine. He is clearly dedicated to his students and is very approachable. His exams can be tricky if you don't study, but he is willing to give you a better grade than you deserve if you do well on the final.

Definitely one of the best professors at CCNY. I was reading students' comments here on RMP and was astonished to hear that people were complaining about too much math in his chem class. What the hell do you expect? IT'S CHEMISTRY! Very approachable and easygoing, and works hard to help his students pass. I highly recommend him for any chem.

Prof. Salame is clear when it comes to lectures and explaining chemistry. His exams are very easy because they are "standardized". Just look at past exams and you can expect the same type of question with different numbers. If you know how to do past exams you will get an A easily. The review sessions explain how to solve past exam problems.

Prof. Salame is the greatest prof. I have ever met.I took chemistry with him for the first time in my life at the age of 37. I never thought it was possible. until I met him. I have taken other science classes since then. I never found another professor like him. I consider him a friend. If I ever become a DR. it will be partly because of him.

Like the other reviewers have stated, he is the best professor at city but make sure to PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS, the only way to get an A. Also be weary of tricks on the exams, read questions carefully and do all the old exams before any test.

Teaches through examples, real down to earth kind of guy none of that theoretical mumbo jumbo, to sum it up gets to job done effectively and efficiently, hes not going to just give you an A you have to work for it but if its possible to get an A in any chem course at ccny, with salame your chances are high.

He explains everything well and he is an entertaining teacher. He does teach at quick pace but its crystal clear. His final exams for past years were fair except for Spring 12, which was extremely inconsistent with his teaching method ie. not fair at all.

As long as you attend his classes and take good notes you will be fine. The level of difficulty of his exams are based on how well behaved the class is (i.e attendance, talking etc). So if your class acts right then your grade will look good! He is also one of the few professors who ACTUALLY cares about this students passing his class.

I had him for Chem 104, SCI 31493, and Chem 243. He is a teacher takes the time to help out students during his office hours. As for the guy who wrote a bad review about the SCI 31493 class, he does not understand the basis of that class. It was a class for education majors aspiring to become science teachers. Hence, experiments were necessary.

He's a really nice prof. AND A PERSON. He would give +10 bonus pts to exams, so students whose in D get at least a C. He always extends hw deadlines. His office hr is always available. Any student who have a C or above in the semester can choose to be exempt from finals. Full star to Prof. Salame for being the most considerate professor.

This class is manageable. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF UNDERESTIMATING IT. He's helpful & lets you see old exams. Come to class ON TIME! Don't start studying last-minute & ask for help early!!! even if you don't know any material at all or think "you can figure it out later". Better to find out a week before exam, than an hour before exam.

The major part of this class is understanding stoichiometry and then applying them to problems. You MUST practice or you will fail. Go to OH if you have a question. Professor will always help. The labs are tedious but if you work hard you will do well. One of the best professors in CCNY.

Pros: chemistry is not easy, but he makes it as easy as it gets! He teaches all the tricks to solve test questions, so it's just like baking a cupcake: follow the recipe. To learn the tricks you need to go to class. If you get an A in all exams, you get exempt from the final: awesome! Cons: he can be harsh answering "dumb" questions

Great teacher. He goes over past exam questions during class and during the last class before a test. Just do the past exams that he posts and you'll do fine on the real test. Attend lecture; you can't do well just being reading the textbook. I only needed the textbook for its data tables to complete homework questions.

Professor Salame is amazing. His lectures are crystal clear and he doesn't follow the book. He goes through his previous year's exams and solves them in the class after a chapter is finished. If you solve all his previous exams and be present in every lecture and do homework, you can get an 'A'. He is also funny and very helpful.

I personally think that he is the best professor at CCNY. He really cares about the students that put in the effort, and will help you if you go to his office. The exams do have some curveballs, but he doesnt give tests that are impossible to pass.

Prof Salame is a very entertaining lecturer. He really tries to hold your attention so that you understand the material. Salame is the BEST. Awesome teacher, very funny, ready to help. His exams are easy IF YOU STUDY A LOT. There is a possibility to be exempt from the final, it is very easy to negotiate a grade with him. He was so good I plan to take another class with him soon. Be sure to register early because his classes go FAST.

Prof. Salame is great. I had him for 104 two years ago - & when I saw that he was teaching Quant, I registered for his class in no time. There are four exams, he drops one, quizzes, lab, & the final (which you can be exempted from). Professor Salame is really dedicated to his students. Instead of assigning workshops with a questionable TA he makes his lectures longer. He is always available for office hours and lets you drop your lowest exam. He answers any questions you have in class while doing practice problems. I thoroughly enjoyed going to his class every morning even though it started early at 9am. He makes it worth it with his funny anecdotes. Also he really does care about his students. If YOU WORK for it, you can get an A. If you fail his class, it's definitely your fault. The lectures clear and helpful so go to class. However, most of the time, he is just teaching you how to solve problems for his exam more than anything. When you finish with the class, you know how to solve his exams - not so much on the subject itself.

Prof. Salame is one of those professors that you actually learn during his lectures. Yes, you learn! So much so that if you attend classes and recitations your study time would be minimized. If you need help email him or attend office hours, especially before an exam. Funny, brilliant and dedicated to his students. Take him or beg to get into!

I retake orgo 1 with Prof. Salame (my former Prof. was Prof. Balogh-Nair) I have to say Prof. Salame's exam is not easy BUT I did learn EVERYTHING I need for his exam through his lectures, old exams,email responses from him,his office hours. Everything he provided to the class,made my orgo 1 experience so much easier and better! He is fair grader.

This class is difficult, but salame really helped us out. He does his job, and jokes around with his students. He brings alot of energy to the class, and has an efficient teaching method. The only thing that bothered me was how he always snuck in one unfair question no one knew how to do during a test. Besides that he was cool.

Quantitative analysis is not easy. Consider yourself lucky if you're in his class cause he is the only one who can teach it! 4 exams drops the lowest grade. (Recommended)

He is really nice person. the class overall if you go and pay attention you will understand it. he does a review before every exam. i recommend you take him. 3 exams, few homeworks, dont really need to read textbook, skip class and you wont pass. he uses slides to teach but does practice problems in between slides. always available through email.

I took Prof. Salame for Chem 104. The class was not easy, there are lots of different topics that need to be covered. However, Prof. Salame made it easier by going over a lot of practice questions from past exams. He was so funny and his teaching was great. But you must attend every class in order to do well. Overall it was a fun class.

This was the EASIEST class ever with Salame. Attendance not required but it is necessary in order to learn and pass. I'm not sure how people can get less than an A in this class because chem in general is EASY. Easy math, easy tests, minimal studying required. Exams were similar to past exams and his teaching is great.

This is the one guy at this school who cares about students. I took Chem 104 and Orgo 1 with him and he makes sure to take the time so each student understands. These are not easy topics but he understands how to teach them to make it fluent. I would highly recommend speaking to him outside of class, a very personable guy. Very easy review.

Took chem103 with another professor and completely ruined chemistry for me until I had salame for chem104 and orgo 1! He's the best and actually cares about whether you understand the material. He provides a lot of examples of his test questions and he's crystal clear about what he's looking for. Also, a great guy and truly cares about you.

This man is an actual saint. He gives extra practice sessions during office hours(even though he does not need to). Organic chemistry is Hard but to be honest this professor really broke down things to make it simple. He explains beyond excellent and he dedicates his weekends to give the students review sessions so they can excel in the class. I'm honestly glad I took this caring professor!!!!

Sundays are problem solving sessions so ask questions. 6pts extra credit on exams (open book). If you get a 90+ all exams you skip final & A in the class. Probably my favorite professor of all time. He made THE infamous STEM course really easy to understand, and actually pretty fun. You should really attend every lecture if you can, and drill practice problems from the book. Final grade was based on three exams.

Extremely easy class. Not much need to be said. If you wish, you can stick to just doing the ALEKS material and recitation material and you will literally ace the exams. Worst part of the class is definitely the lazy students not studying and being surprised that they fail the exams.

His tests are very similar to his review packets and if you get 90's or above an all three exam you don't have to take the final.

Professor Issa Salame is one of the best professors I have had the privilege to have at CCNY. He really cares about his students and guides you through understanding the material very well in his lectures. He gives you all the resources to pass and do well in class. You will leave his class with a great understanding of the material for success.

He want's you to pass, and he will do everything he CAN to make you pass. Your responsibility to meet him halfway there. Being honest, I never payed attention in class after the second test and still passed it, since his practice exams are like his actual exams.

Long overdue rating, I thought he had enough glaze already, but he does everything correctly. He goes over examples in class, knowledgeable, gives test reviews, responds to emails (fast), nice grading policy. Honestly does a disservice for lowerclassmen b/c he sets the bar so high and you get disappointed after his classes.
