Great guy, nice, intelligent and helpful
Easy class, not a good class to get sound education though
great teacher...no paper
This is a good Prof., he very understanding he tries to work with you. No papers, Take home mid-term and final.
He's a sweetheart, very understandable, and overall compared to other professors holds a high sense of respect for his students.
I really liked this course. Interesting, creative and he understands the needs of his students.
I found the course comprehensive. He gives interviews instead of papers, which is quite demanding, but I actually enjoyed the challenge. The exams are both take-home. If you do the readings and take good notes no problems. He is also very friendly.
I liked him. He was fair and tried to be amusing. The grading was tougher than I expected, but I still did well. Much better than the others in this department who are dull and unfair in grading. I also heard good things about his other courses.
A comprehensive course. He was well prepared and really tried hard to connect today to yesterday. The best course I had at John Jay without a doubt. I was waiting for this class!!
I liked him a lot. Good guy that tries to teach many things about yesterday and today. He was well prepared and entertaining.
He is enthusiastic. A lot of writing, but all is take-home. The oral exam is fun, but you really have to know your stuff. I recommend him ot those with interest in history.
Professor Sney isa good man. VBery nice. Good course.
Awesome course. One of the best History professors I ever had (I have a minor in History). A lot of writing with take home exams. He makes the class very interesting.
Easy class
He's just amazing. Loved the interviews. He knows his materials; very knowledgeable. Take any class with him and you'll develop a different perspective on many things; being able to think outside the box will be the end result! You have to read to do well
THE BEST PROFESSOR I had. Really, really smart and inspiring. Take whatever he teaches. His interviews are easier than he makes it sound..
Great guy. Knows everybody. Grades fairly. Has an accent, but not too bad.
He is refreshing. New perspectives on boring issues. I too him lastyear, and he is the only one who still remembers my name and says hi eveytime he runs into me. I really liked the interviews.
He is very knowledgable so it makes class interesting
condescending to the students
Prof. Sneh is very nice, does have an accent/stutter but he's aware of it and allows the student to stop him and repeat. Interviews are easier than he makes it sound, no tests, but gives paper for final, if you read you'll get an A
Awesome class. Teaches a lot about slavery and discrimination. His interview questions and exams were very fair. You have to do the readings to do well, as he expects specifics from the texts. Oversll, I highly recommend him.
I took the course on genocide. no exam, just interview. he was excellent and very accessible. wish he taught it alone.
Awesome class!! Intrersting, inspiring and original. The interview was easy, teh final a lot of work
A great professor. Warm and informative. The interviews are only easy if you read a lot before. The final was a take home that covered everything in the course.
A good course on legal history. Interesting materials. The professor is very personable.
There is a bit of a problem in understanding what he is saying because of accent and low voice. Teaches directly form book so a bit boring. VERY reasonable grader, take home exams;easy interview.
an original professor. Talks about what is going on now, not just history. very nice to students
A fair amount of reading, but a manageable course. The professor is very understanding.
He knows his tuff. Makes it interesting by talking about current events. Fair grader.
An excellent class taht goes into deep issues and greta conversatio. The interview was funn, although the final was more work than I thought at first.
What a professor!! Knows everything, answers all questions, helpful and very friendly. He is the best in this college.
Excellent professor that loves his job! Highly recommended. He wants to see you succeed and not fail! He knows all about terrorism and even finds time for the students to help personally. No exams in the class! Just a private interview about a topic of your choice, and "final" is a term paper 8-10 pages. I will take class with him again.
Very nice professor. The class is little boring sometimes but he makes it fun! There are only a midterm which is an interview for 10 min on any subject you choose in american legal history and a final which is 5 questions that he gives you on first day of classes!!! all you need to do, is to follow the books and class notes and you have an easy A!
He is such a great professor esp. for teaching on a Sunday afternoon. There is only a 10 min interview which is not that bad as long as you know your facts, I got an 'A' and studied the night before. There is no mid-term, but one final which he gives questions for in the first day of class. He is a true pleasure to take!! I recommend him!!!!!!!!!
This professor has no tricks up his sleeve. He gives readings for homework which he talks about the day of class. He gives points for participation in class. He gives you the questions to your final in advance and a 10 minute interview which counts as your midterm. Take him he is the best!!!! He knows his stuff!!
This class was very interesting and the instructor allowed for very thought-provoking conversation. The class was mature enough that we could have controversial discussions. The only complaints that I have is that he is very difficult to understand because of his accent and 5 large essays were just too much to do in two hours for the final.
A wonderful, excellente professor. Take him again. He really cares about students and helps you a lot. talk in class and he will know you very good. The books are ok. Best part is the interview, 10 minutes and you are finished, I prepared hard the list of books and got A.
I took his course on terrorism. I finally understand what it is about. He knows reasons an facts for every country, all histories, about whatever issue and people you ask. He cares about students a lot. He is always available. TAKE HIM!!
GREAT CLASS on terrorism! What discussions, what a depth of knowledge. REALLY, REALLY interesting, non-conventional, thought provoking. A must take.
BRILLIANT. A great guy who knows everything, is very personable, and does not make you feel like you are below him. I highly recommend him.
An insightful and thorough professor. Very personabale, sometimes intense but usually relaxed. I highly recommend him.
Top Professor by far! He is beyond knowledgeable. If you want to know anything about Terrorism take his class. He really believes in class participation and the debates can get intense but well worth it. I highly recommend taking any classes he teaches. Itai rocks!!!
Wow, Prof. Itai is by far THE BEST Professor for Terrorism related information at John Jay. I have taken him for two Terrorism-related courses, both times getting A-'s His teaching style is WONDERFUL and YOU WILL WANT TO COME TO CLASS and participate. If you fail his course or get below an 'B' you really did not try. He's also VERY witty &funny
took his terrorism class. i did not read the book at all. only used it to get an example for the midterm. Hes really nice and easy going but his accent is hard to understand. u dont even need to take notes just show up. for a friday class he allow 6absent which is crazy but cool --Easy grade
GREAT professor. he is very interesting and caring. Knows so much on everything you ask. The interviews were fun. The final is in class but he gives you questions before.
Very warm guy, nice and helpful. he uses little notes. The interview was a lot of work, but I did very well. The final questions were close to what he talked about in class, and he gave them in advance!
After I learned with him, I realized what does Renaissance man means. Prof. Sneh knows everything, is interested in all matters, and always shows empathy to students.
I thought that it was a great class. He is really caring and very comprehensive.
Loved this class. From all the terrorism studies professors, he can teach with an easy touch and he knows his stuff.
Really good professor, very hard-working, tries hard to make everybody liste, talk and understand. I recommend him.
Professor Sneh is the best professor at John Jay. He has so much knowledge in every area of history. He cares very much for his students. He genuinely wants his students to do well. Always has a smile on his face and makes silly jokes. A class I never wanted to miss. If you want to learn from a greatly respected man, take his classes.
A really good professor. His interviews are interesting.
He's not bad. Not too hard, just read some books, you probably know most of the American hystory anyways.Surprise for the midterm! Ever had an interview with any professor? Well, here you go.Scary a bit, but he makes you feel comfortable with his jokes. So you'll do just fine.Take him!
Very interesting class. I took this summer course hoping for sme trips. Instead, I am getting a kind of conceptual survey and lots of information. he is fascinating and very nice.
A really, really, really good and fun class. You just don't feel time pass. He is very nice and interesting. He told us touching stories about his family. He tries hard to connect with students.
AWESOME AND FUN GUY. WOULD RECOMMEND. VERY HARD MIDTERM PAPER (12PGS) THATS THE ONLY THING BAD ABOUT HIS CLASS. HE GIVES THE FINAL TO YOU IN THE BEGINNING OF CLASS. VERY HUMOROUS AND FUN GUY. MORE TEACHERS LIKE THIS ONE.....EASY A IF YOU DO YOUR WORK
What an interesting course. You get world history, especially Middle East stuff. Midterm is a paper and an oral exam in his office which he makes comfortable. Final was about questions he told us the first day of class, but it was close book. he is very nice and easy to talk with.
Best Professor at JJ. Take all of his classes. You'll be amazed at how much this professor knows. Mind boggling!!!
Really interesting course. This professor makes you think a lot. He is very attentive to students. His interviews are different than others who just want written papers. I recommend him.
GRRRRRREAT guy. Easy to understand, nice to students, good to study for his classes. take him and you will enjoy a terrific experience.
Great class, interesting lecturer. He makes you feel comfortable and you listen. His interviews/big paper are a lot of work, but if you do well, which is not hard, you got it made.
Just finished a summer course with this professor. I really enjoyed him. He makes you feel comfortable with his silly jokes and remembering some detials about you like name very quickly. He gives a lot of information. he is very nice to students. interviews are a lot of work, but also interesting.
A Genius (and funny too). He makes coming to class fun. Overall, A++++
Pfr. Sneh is great. He is so intelligent but makes the topic very easy to understand. He sincerely wants everyone to learn and do well in his class. Sometimes when he gets excited it is difficult to understand him but it was a pleasure to be in his class
Love this dude! You don't even need the textbook. Come to class, and listen to the lectures. What more could you ask for?
Terrible. He made an interesting class boring. His lectures are rambling and poorly organized at best. Do NOT take.
Do not recommend. Hard to understand what he is saying. Makes the class very boring, the whole class is just him rambling on, often about a subject irrelevant to the topic at hand. Assignments don't make sense, are very vague. By the end of the class you'll feel like you haven't learned anything.
A really, really good class. makes interesting discussions over historical issues. Lots of jokes. Good to students questions. Nice to requests.
Taking his summer class. It is a namazing experience. Lots of info. Many intereting stores. Easy going, warm, and answers every question. I really recommend him.
He is my favorite professor at John Jay College. He is extremely helpful to his students. He is a really bright individual, and his lectures are discussion like. Professor Sneh handles every student's questions with professionalism and respect. In addition, he has a great sense of humor. Take the classes he teaches. You will love them.
GREAT class... lots of discussion, updates on current events, silly but endearing jokes, Weekly assignments and a term paper. He lets you know final questions in advance, but closed books,
Fun class. Great for a Sunday afternoon. Lots of materials, many facts, plenty of anecdotes that keep you interested. Highly recommend this nice, intelligent guy.
The best professr in history ever. He makes class fun and you don't feel time going by as you learn a lot. His paper/interview is lots of work, but he gives good grades.
Mid-term interview is a load of work. In fact, half the class will drop right before the interview approaches. They are wrong, you have to do work, it college. However, he gives good grades , and your final , is questions that he will give you in the first class!! If you take notes you will do well in finals. You can't for better than that.
He is extremely smart. However, his classes can be very boring unless the students create the discussion. Don't buy the textbook, he never uses it.Midterm is 10 page paper- chose something you will enjoy researching. Only HW is readings, which he might or might not go over. He is a great person though and very understanding.Gets sidetracked easily!
Been attending John Jay since 2010 and he just might be the best professor I've ever had. Seems like he knows EVERYTHING about history, here, there, and everywhere. And he makes the class interesting, "boring." But take it on Sundays if it's offered. He's nice and fair but you work hard in his class, lol.
Cool class. Very entertaining. Knows a lot. Connects with students. Paper is a lot of work, but the interview is easy if you prepare. Overall, an awesome start for this challenging major. Take him also in other classes as several people took his history courses, and said that he was amazing.
Loved the class, loved the discussions, loved the material. Professor Sneh encourages students to really dig into the meat of the material and challenges you to think critically. I learned how to look beyond the surface of the readings and really delve into them by considering the context in which they were written. Highly recommend.
Really nice guy. Very helpful. Makes tired students engaged with lots of tales and some jokes. Learned a lot. I recommend him strongly.
I am at law school now. So, I now greatly appreciate how much this class prepared me for studying cases.
Took him over the past winterm session. It was a lot of work, a lot of reading, one page assignments for each reading. But easy grader. A little hard to understand at times. Be prepared to do a lot of work.
You learn a lot from this bright, engaging guy. He tried really hard to connect with students, some of whom just want to pass through. Makes time for you, Answers emails fast. Tells you the exam text in advance. The paper is a challenge, and the interview stressful, but grades highly.
You must enjoy this guy class. Talks without notes, answers any question, jokes a lot. Tells you all that you need to know and prepare for tests. Take him!
Brilliant, laugh out loud funny, has a heart, up front with the syllabus and expectations, and overall just awesome. Also took his class on human rights. Prof. Sneh and the knowledge he shares are both memorable. Absolutely love him! Be prepared to work and you will not be disappointed.
One of my favorite professors. Very attentive no-nonsense type of person. Knows his subjects and is very open to the difference of opinions during class discussions. His grading system is fair and simple. One 10- page paper with 7 resources and the final exam is a couple of detailed questions on the syllabus, initially, no surprises!!!
Professor Sneh is great. In his class you are sure to laugh, as he is big on cracking jokes. Aside from this, he is also very well versed on almost every topic! He seems to know the answer to almost everything. He is like a walking encyclopedia. The class is a lot of work, but thats college. I encourage you to take him!
GREAT, GREAT, great class. Knows a lot. Nice. Entertaining. Take it and you will learn a lot while having lots of fun. Take him for any course he offers.
Professor Sneh is a good professor. I have taken for three class and enjoyed all of them. do the readings, participate, and follow instructions on assignments and you will pass.
best professor ever! Took him twice- and wish I can take him again and again ! long lectures, but very interesting- Show up- participate and you'll deff pass!
In the online Penn State HLS class, he was noticeably absent. There is practically no interaction. There is no clarity and tests are abysmal. I do not recommend him for online classes. It is the worst class experience I've ever had, and I've had a lot of online classes. AVOID at all costs.
Lovely guy. Informative and funny. Knows a lot. Tells you all in the syllabus. His paper/interview is lots of work, but grades easily.
He's very funny, easy grader and no test. But IT IS so hard to understand what he is saying. He speaks so fast, so you just gotta keep up. Midterm and final are 10 page papers. He's a old funny guy.
Obnoxious. Lectures drag. If you skip class, he'll drag you the next class you come. You'll most likely want to drop the class the second you get the syllabus. Beware!!!!
Really nice guy that tries hard to engage even the most tired students. Loved his jokes and attempts to make sense of what is going on.
This professor talks the entire period without breaks. His accent makes it very hard to understand what he is saying. There are two majors papers that require a lot of work and the notes in class do not help.
Funny really nice professor.
i really did not enjoy his class prof rambles, is incoherent actually, his accent is difficult to understand
This was a once a week class on Fridays, in which he tends to babble on a lot about things, and he might even switch subjects, so make sure you're listening with eyes and ears. Despite this, he tries to be funny which I can appreciate, just put in effort in your work and you'll do fine.
Professor Sneh is a good teacher however, it wouldnt hurt to be a bit more organized. He lectures off of his notes which can be quite difficult sometimes. Midterm and final consists of 10+ page paper with a midterm interview conducted. Hes also very funny which is a plus. Hes an attorney so he knows about the law a lot. Overall, a good teacher!
He is a good professor. He is a very easy grader as long as you participate and do good job on the two papers. He is one of the few professors I have respect for because he doesn't treat people differently due to their political beliefs. Just make sure you can back up what you are talking about and you will be fine in his class.
Has a strong accent and talks during three hour lectures non stop! Lectures don't help at all. Syllabus is 10 pages long ,only required to do a 10 page paper and he interviews you about it. Also theres a final only three questions.
PSU World Campus Course. Course topics are interesting and applicable, however the professor is not very involved. He does not provide meaningful feedback, regardless of whether you ask or not. I've received back "good work" on an A assignment and a B- assignment. The course material is also extremely dated. Avoid if possible.
Be ready to write down notes to help you with midterm and finals. He gives the mid-term as a research paper for 10 pages. Start from the beginning of the semester with it, to get rid of it very soon.7 recent research resources is a must, he takes points from the paper if you don't have.
This professor is horrible. During a pandemic he assigns his 200 level course a 10 page research paper and 8 questions with a minimum of 2 pages and 5 paragraphs for the final. And he does not read drafts which is ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU STUDENTS
He assigns a ten page paper unclear instructions and repeats the same stuff on syllabus when ask for further explanation. No extra credit just a paper and final that makes up your WHOLE grade.
One of the most terrible, unhuman and not professional person I've ever work with. Never ever again and do not recommend to take this prof. It was an additional introductory class, not connected to my major. I put a lot of effort and time for this class and in the end he spoiled my GPA. Wasted time, energy and money.
Good professor. Helpful. Clear expectations. Was helpful.
Had a great time with this very knowledgeable professor. Learned tons. I want to go to law school, so this is good preparation. I liked his exam-it was all open book with questions that he gave in the syllabus.
This professor is good. Interesting lectures and easy grading.
Easy going dude. very flexible on deadlines. interesting lectures. easy grader of papers if you use good siouces, and on exams if you follow his lectures. has taught me good materials for history.
Rude and unprofessional - no two ways about it. Gives minimal directions and extremely arrogant responses to emails but no guide or rubric to work with. Refused to even look at outlines. What's even more frustrating is that it was a complete online class and he made no effort to be helpful when you tried to ask for guidance.
VERY INFORMATIVE CLASS. REALY GOOD PROFESSOR. DID NOT CARE AVOUT DEADLINES, SO EASY TO DO WORK. PAPER AND A FINAL EXAM. GIVES QUESTIONS IN ADVANCE FOR FINAL AND HELPS WITH TOPICS. RECOMMEDN TO TAKE
Very helpful man. Answered my emails very fast. Gave me lots of details on how to write my paper. Did not care about deadlines. Final exam was on the syllabus. Gave lots of notes that basically answered the questions. Good focus on racial issues and civil rights. Loved the course.
Great professor. The real thing. His syllabus gives you all the derails, oncluding exam questions and how to answer them. Class Notes are the key. Barely uses textbook. Lets deadlines pass. Easy grader of the papers if you follow his guideline. Will take again anytime.
Great class. Lots of fun announcements with contents. Answered emails fast. Paper was easy if you got the sources he wants. Was late and he did not care. Exam was open book from the syllabus. So good experience.
Easy class. Everything was online. Exam was from the weekly papers. Paper was not difficult. Deadlines were flexible. Answered emails real fast. Textbook useful.
Fabulous class. Humor and contents. Knows history of everything. Puts things in context. Easy grader and flexible on deadlines
Cool professor. Everything in the syllabus. Notes give you all the answers for the final. Does not care about deadlines. Easy grader. Lots of knowledge.
He is a good professor, all you have to do is write two papers one for the midterm + an interview and the final paper
He is what graduate school is for. Analysis snd contents always good. Easy going, informative, engaging. Eaay grader and flexible deadlines.
Fascinating analysis. Every lecture a gem. Nice and gives extensions. Term paper, take home exam, weekly assignments. Take notes and do all the textbook summaries, and you do very well.
Great Professor. Works hard to engage students. Knows everything. Just term paper and a final exam with questions already in syllabus. Easy grader.
Take him. Classes are fun. Not too much work. Easy grader. Gives you new perspective on old issues.
Terrific presentations. Easy to talk with him. Answers emails quick. Grading is easy. Two papers. One research, with requirements for scholarly sources. has to be 10 pages at least. The other final. He gives you the questions in advance. Every essay has to be 2 pages at least. Everything in notes. Does not use the textbook.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS: The Professor, although kind, speaks 100 miles per hour with a thick Israeli accent. It is impossible to understand what he is saying the class has to constantly tell him to slow down/ repeat what he said.He makes you do a 10pg TermPaper/Interview/Final with 8 questions 2 page minimum and 5 questions 1 paragraph minimum.
Indoctrinates his students. Constantly spreading misinformation and hateful rhetoric on one political party. I refuse to mention which party because that should not matter. No professor at any institution should be allowed to do this. He says "dont quote me because I would make the NY Times & be fired", he knows he shouldn't do it......yet he does.
I read the reviews and took this class! Turned out to be the opposite. This professor will sit down and read his notes from his phone and lecture for 2 hr and 10 minutes straight without a break. Funny at times but also likes to pick on students for no reason. Very thick accent and speaks so fast so I understood absolutely nothing.
Took him asynchronous during the pandemic online. Answered emails fast. Gave exam questions in syllabus. One term paper. Asked about textbook or summaries of readings for every class. Easy to do assignments. Did not care about deadlines. Got an A by just doing the work by email. Take him for easy online credit.
Took him as an asynchrenous elective. Cool guy. He was prompt on posting materials. Reflection papers on guided reading. One research paper. Allowed late work.gave extensions. Answered emails fast. Easy course by just following the syllabus.
Great class. Interesting topic. Stellar readings. Quick email responses. Comprehensive guidance. Flxible deadlines. Easy grader.
this class was easy but also hard and also attendance was mandatory you show up you will get the notes that will be needed for the final they will help you out but also he talks quick so try to copy as fast as you can and also get the textbook that will also help you in the final and also do the term paper and the final you also he was funny
This was an easy and fun class. Easy grader. Syllabus gives all the info you need. His notes and guidance gives all the answers for exam. Answers emails fast. A term paper that is easy to write. Learned a lot pretty fast. Recommend him.
Took him twice.. He is very caring and tried hard to engage with fun facts and jokes a lot of bored students who just wanted to do nothing and web surf. For me it was enjoyable and I learned a lot. Easy A *twice* without stress. Take regular notes and write a term paper with sources. A comes your way. He does not care about textbook or deadlines.
I believe this professor wrote their own reviews, DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE. a 10 page paper for a 200 level course is insane, is he not aware we have jobs and responsibilities? he makes a fun topic and makes it hell, hope john jay replaces him soon
this professor lists this in his syllabus: Commenting on matters such as hard work, personal sacrifices, difficult times, serious needs, and future aspirations--most of these concerns challenge numerous students (and faculty!)--do evoke my sympathy, but do not at all affect my universal and professional academic standards" meaning he does not care!
He is a great professor. Easy grader, Gives exam questions before time in syllabus, Paper he is specific about. He is very knowledgeable about history and will teach you a lot in his class. He is also very approachable and helpful. His lectures are fun, Definitely recommend him!
Cool professor, fun class. Easy grader. Just do the work. He gives lots of credit to class participation, so make sure that he knows your name. Paper is 8-10 pages. He gives you an interview. Exam questions in syllabus, then in class with an outline...based on class notes. He does not care about textbook, dont buy it. Take him and get easy B+ to A.
Fun course that helped my GPA. He is funny. Cares about students. Exam he gives ahead. Paper he gives how to do it. Got myself A.
Professor is engaging and makes the material fun. Attendance is mandatory but worth it - take detailed notes and use unstuck study for efficient study prep. Easy A if you put in the work.
He is extremely disorganized, doesnt use Brightspace correctly, gives a 10-page paper, then assigns 4 essays for a final exam, and handwritten during the class period. He's extremely lecture-heavy and doesn't give out extra credit. Be very careful when you take his class.
Smooth class. Only one exam at the end that he gives you in the syllabus. No midterm. A term essay of ten pages. He likes you to ask questions. Gives lots of credit for talking. Makes jokes. Got A for just doing what is neeeded.
Just finished the class and did very well. Puts notes on brightspace. He cares a lot about participation. Does not mention the textbook. Gives in class final exam that you know the questions with outline that you bring to know how to write. No midterm. Term paper he wants seven recent sources. Jokes a lot so time passes fast. I take him again.
In person class was 100% lectures that had zero structure. Class was the biggest stress of the semester due to the unstructured lectures, and later on the required weekly reflection posts based off the readings. It might as well have been an online class at that point. I never seen a class collectively celebrate a class being over. Don't recommend.
I had a very interesting time. Every lecture was original. Different look on issues. Grading was easy. Very nice guy. Likes a lot of participation. Exam was in the syllabus.
