He"s so hot...but he teaches so bad...his exams are hard very different from lectures
very good teacher exams are easy if u good at math
This professor is amazing! He is very helpful, knowledgeable and takes care of his students. His students can be well prepared for exams. He's very efficent and friendly. Highly recommended for this class.
Understand his hand-outs and exercises, you'll do fine.
If you do well in 222, then take it. What is in the exam or the assignments is thoroughly discussed in class. What is in the course is in the textbook. My only complaint is that teaching using powerpoint presentations made by the text's publisher is not at all stimulating (and very little work for the teacher!).
he does everything he can and gives every opportunity to ask for help. he's very genuine and yes...extremely easy on the eyes!

Very helpfull. Encourages questions. Didn't prepare us well for final. His TA marks his midterms and final, but the class avg is a B- so he bell curves. I would take him.
He is a really cool prof and deserve an award for making economics so easy to learn. Everything you see in his slides is what you study fro you midterms and you will ace it. Highly recommend.
very gd teacher. highly recommended. exams-assignments were ez. explains everything clearly.
ECON222 is a hard class but he really does his best to help you understand it. Really open to any questions.
The class average was low for the midterm & most students struggled on the 2nd assignment(he gave 2). Even though he curves around a "B-", looking at the grade dispersion, the majority of students got C's & D's. I got an "A-" because of my math background & I would like to say that you can find better but he's the only one that teaches it for now.
You have to listen carefully but most students were lost. He's really strict on the grading and the kicker is that students who wanted to appeal their grade lost even more marks. Most did poor on the midterm but were able to rebound on the final a little bit. I got A- because of doing well on the 2 assignments however most student weren't lucky.
Old assignments and midterm are verbatim (that's right) from the semester, and the one before that. So you'd better find someone who has them saved. Cause if you don't he'll get you with the tricky questions and the curve. And your classmates who have these things get an A. Unfair? That's Tchinkov.
You feel like you understand everything until you get to the final exam. His exams are so tricky. You try your best to understand the sample test and the exercises but the final is totally something else.
You will know everything about economics. But you will not be able to pass an exam. Tutoring is the way to solve that ;)
the teacher is fine. I enjoy his accent
He is hot ,but accent is weird , u may get lost in his class , that happens very often ,actually ...lecture is easy , but the midterm ...omg,totally another thing.....think about it if u wanna learn sth..he is very nice and patient ,good personality..
Worth taking!
He is good, he always tries to answer student's questions. He has a good sense of humor, although his midterms are tricky they are not impossible. If you study well you will get a high grade.
He's quite a funny guy. I have to say I laughed a couple times during his lectures. His explanations are clear. His accent is funny. Always willing to help and answers questions directly. I definitely recommend taking his class!
He is the fun/relaxed type of teacher. I don't know many econ teachers, but I am confident he is a good choice. Lot's of office hours, replies to emails, provides many past midterm/finals and real life examples to support the theories. Took time to answer questions in the class, even if we were 300. Tutorials and past exams are KEY to your success!
Funny and Intelligent - what else do we need ?
Definitely worth taking! He's clear, funny and approachable. DO all the online assignments, they are time consuming but you get unlimited tries and they will up your grade in the end. Do all practice exams/midterms provided. Start studying early on and keep on top on it. He's a great prof, worth while for sure
His slides are clear, interesting and the classes are never boring - always trying to make jokes and giving external examples to keep us interested. Very good tutor / teacher, you can ace his class if you study regularly - WORTH taking
i definitely recommend him! makes the class very interesting and entertaining and explains the material very well. GREAT prof!!!
He is a very good prof!! the best one that tecahes econ 201 he explains well and answer all the students questions!! his class is interesting too!! TAKE HIM
Best teacher!
he's amazing, that's all i can say
Really interesting, clear and helpful. Tons of jokes and interesting facts etc... Best teacher i have.
He is very good professor. Very helpful during his office hours. His explanation is clear.
I would definitely recommend him! He focuses on the most important points, and makes the class interesting! It's not too difficult to get an A or an A+
Uses real life examples that make it easy to understand the material.
really really a good teacher? His class is always interesting. He is very patient and loving answering students' questions.
Awesome teacher, take him if you can! Goes over material a lot until people get it. open to questions. Mid-term was easy, similar questions to in-class and tutorial problems.
Took econ 201, econ 224 and econ 222 and love the teacher. Questions from midterm and assignementswill be on final exam, so practice them before the final. He will tell you exactly what to expect on exams, so no surprises. Very good techer, open to questions and will even help you with other econ classes. A+ teacher
Great prof. Explains very well and uses real life examples to stimulate students. Very funny as well, which is also a huge plus.
I just LOVE this prof!!!
EXCELLENT!! I LOVE this pro! He is clear and interesting! Class is always full of people! He uses real life example to help you understand the material. He replies email, and has many office hours! A really helpful teacher! Recommended!
HE'S AN AMAZING PROF! I've never taken an econ class before and I was a bit worried about it, but he's so helpful and easy to understand. Uses a lot of real-world examples, which makes the class more interesting and easier to follow. Also very approachable. Easy midterm, harder final, no surprises. A++ prof, would take him again without a doubt!
AMAZING PROF! I've never taken an econ class before and I was a bit worried about it, but he's so helpful and easy to understand! A++ prof, would take him again without a doubt!
He is awesome, great examples, clear, makes sure everybody understands.
the class had over 300 students in it which is why it was very difficult to concentrate. Got a B+ only because I went to SOS tutoring..
Clear, funny but doesn't leave his chair... its a huge class, so you kind of wish he was more animated, but I got an A- barely listening.
He's a great teacher! The class was pretty big (300 students) but he still manages to answer questions. I recommend going to his office hours as he is really helpful. I ended up with an A-
He's great! He gives a lot of very clear and great examples that usually make everyone laugh. His midterm was not bad (go over mc questions from tutorialsprevious midterms, they tend to recycle). The labs are an easy 20%. He's very helpful and answers questions! One of my fav teachers at Concordia!
Amazing teacher he actually makes you understand, i only went to class up till the midterm and then skipped the rest but with the explanation he gave during the first half of the semester it was manageable to understand the rest
Ivan is a good professor, he is available for you during his office hours and his lectures are clear and interesting. Always have the word to laugh.
He is a great teacher ! His subjects are crystal clear and he keeps the class room entertaining. Prepares you well for midterm and final, and is always available for office hours. Do your tutorials each week and the labs are very easy !
Nice teacher, he tries to make subject more interesting.
Prof. Tchinkov is very good. His approach is more mathematical then theoretical, which can be difficult to follow, but is extremely helpful when it comes to solving problems. His exams are tough but not unfair. He writes all of his class lectures on the board, so take good notes and you'll do well.
Notes are a mess Curves grades up or down as he sees fit and doesnt explain how he does it on final mark When i asked him to review my grade after marking my exam unfairly he basically threatened me that my grade might go down I aksed him how to curve the final grades an he said "I did what i had to do which i dont have to explain to you" his words
One of the worst I've taken. hard test and barely any explanation of where you went wrong.
This teacher sucks avoid!!!!!!!!!
He's a very good and clear teacher. Always well-prepared for his lecture and post his notes and additional information on moodle far in advance. His courses are difficult, so you should also be well prepared(go through his notes in advance) before attending his lecture. Study hard and you will get a good grade!
Ivan's lectures were always filled with lots of helpful examples and good jokes. Made most of the material very easy to understand. Final was much tougher than midterm/labs.
Funny that he rates himself. Terrible prof avoid at all cost.
Love or hate with this teacher. Personally I found he was terrible. Notes are extremely messy and exams are hard. Most of the class didnt do well on the midterm and he said he would curve the grades but never gave an exact grade after the curves. Not the teacher to take if you want an A.
I took the class online and so I don't know to much about him personality wise, but the online lectures were very well organized and helpful. The material is complex (at least I found) and so a lot of studying is required. Labs are an easy 30% if you take the time to do them. Final is 70% and like I said, requires a lot of studying.
Really good professor, he knows his stuff! This class is difficult but if you attend his lectures and study the notes he posts on moodle, you'll do fine!
Good teacher! His lectures are posted ahead of time. You don't have to go to class, but one should go, as you can ask questions about the material that you have read before the class. The material is more interesting than what is covered in Econ 222. It's technical, hence take a solid week before midterm/final exams to grasp the material fully.
I took Econ 203 online with this teacher and he's ok at explaining most of the material but I would not take him again if I had the choice. Taking econ 203 online made seemingly easy course into one that I had to do lots of readings instead of just showing up and understanding. Take econ 203 in class, it is much easier that way!
Extremely rude and dismissive when I went to his office. Wouldn't recommend such an arrogant person.
Took the class online. Only met him during the final exam, do not know him very well so unfair to say anything negative about his personality or teaching skills. His video lectures well very detailed and he seems very well organized and well prepared. If you're taking the class for credit, I'd recommend taking it in class and not online.
Ivan is a very patient and good professor. He explains something and always cares if you understand it or not. ASK QUESTIONS, he will gladly explain everything twice. It is in general a very tough course but the way Ivan teaches it, it feels easy eventhough I suck at derivatives which are the basis for almost everything in micro. ATTEND LECTURES!
His lecture is so-so and his slides are not very useful. However, the course itself doesn't have many complex concepts and the exam was exactly like his past exams.
he is a very good professor he is always prepared for his class, he is always ready to repeat anything if someone asked.
His explanation on brief is good, but when it comes to specific related to equations, he has a hard time to explain as it sometimes makes the lecture ambiguous.
Fine.
Attendance for his lectures is not mandatory because he'll just read the slides that are uploaded and skips a lot of the slides anyways. Not the best teacher but better than most econ professors here
The best
he is not a good professor just read from his slides and the exams are pretty hard .
I feel his teaching is more interesting than most other econ teachers: not too monotonous or with that 'hard to understand' accent. He does try to explain when someone has a question in class. Clear PPT slides but his explanation is not the clearest.
His explanations are fine. But his voice is very monotonous and makes us all sleep. He does not have a very humble attitude, he is overrated. Does not encourage students to ask questions.
His lectures are usually given to huge groups, but he tries to interact as much as possible with the class. I find he is alot more helpful when you go see him at his office hours. He will take the time to explain anything you don't understand. Took him for Econ 201 and 203, very solid teacher in my opinion
Great teacher. attendance is not mandatory but it if you want a good grade you need to attend his classes. Test heavy. High tech! funny
Took econ203 online and his lectures are useless. Just reads slides and doesn't actually explain any concepts or processes.
I took him for Special Topics in Economics: Economics of Monetary and Fiscal Unions. No live lectures, only pre recorded videos. Overall an easy class but the prof doesn't give any feedback or correction for assignments or exams.
This is the the worst class I had so far. In this pandemic, this class was super hard. We only had pre-recorded videos, and the only practice we had was 2 assignments counted for 30%. We learned new hard notions such as programming and further in-depth statistic, and he wasn't acommodating when students voiced their concerns. Avoid this teacher.
FYI, if you're in the EC section, you're watching this professor's lectures. If you want an A, my advice is to not bother watching his lectures. All he does is read off of his slides or dictate information without any attempt to explain the theory behind it. You'll have better luck attending tutorials given by the tutors and learning on your own.
AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS! He doesn't give you any examples during the class and in order to prepare you he'd just give 2 assignments which are worth 30%! and he doesn't even send the corrections before the exams so you could understand what you did wrong. also lectures are super boring as well! don't take him
boring lectures. just reads of his slides. no examples are given during his lectures and in order to get feedback for your test/assignment, you have to go to his office hours. overall, pretty bad.
probably the WORST prof that i've ever had! really tedious lectures. just reads his slides without explaining much. why would i need a prof if the only thing he does is reading stuff?? do yourself a favour and avoid him.
i think he actually wants his students to fail. he doesn't do the normal stuff that EVERY other prof does. he doesn't give you ANY questions during the semester. NOTHING. you just encounter the questions for the first time when he gives you the assignments. it's ridiculous!!! also, he doesn't post the answers to the assignments and the midterm.
really bad, you're better off studying and learning on your own. avoid him
This is a very interesting course, but Ivan makes it A LOT HARDER THAN IT SHOULD BE. His sentences are 15 minutes long and make no sens by the end, and lectures don't prepare you for exams. He even decided to lower the curve even though the average grade was abysmal. Never helps with questions never answers to emails. It's like talking to a wall...
Just don't take this course. Waste of Money, time and GPA.
This prof does not want you to do well in his class, even if you could magically have the questions to all the questions in the exam a day prior, you'd still to bad. Insanely tough grading
very tough grader, no clear guidelines on how to prepare for you exams.
All the comments talking something positive about him, they had rose coloured glasses. I worked extremely hard for this class, went to sleep late and yet, this prof will not give a damn about you. The feedback is unclear and unprofessional, I can barely understand what is said. Assignments corrections are given through zoom and verbally. RUN AVOID
Tough grader. No feedback. Slow to grade assignments and tests (at least 3 weeks wait). 50% on the class is online and pre recorded, he claims he goes over the “basic” info in class and that there are more details on the recorded class (there isn't). When you ask a question in class, he tells you to refer to the receding. (Answer isn't there)
He's a brutal grader, he curved our 73% average assignment down by 12 percentage points. Gives unclear feedback and basically expects you to memorize every slide for T/F questions. For one T/F he even told us to figure out content he never taught. The class is hybrid, but in-person lectures are useless he just reads the slides. Avoid if you can!!
He's a nice guy, but his teaching method is one of the worst I've ever had. And get ready to study hard. Exams are difficult and his instructions are unclear
He's a nice guy, but his teaching method is terrible, and he reads the PDF and his documents are super complicated. Get ready to study hard and teach yourself everything.
his teaching method is one of the worst ive had at concordia. be prepared to study the course by yourself and start as early as possible
