I liked this class a lot! Very interesting and relatively easy.
Class is easy. Lectures are very informative. Gives in-class quizzes about once a week (easy). 4 tests (mostly lecture, some book) and a final. Obsessed with geography. Great teacher. Great GPA booster.
broad boring and blah.
great teacher
Super easy class. go to class...lectures not too boring. he tells you exactly whats gonna be on the tests. don't blow off the map quizzes....easy A.
Easy class, very clear. Kinda funny for a professor.
awesome teacher
he helps keep the class interesting. keep up on your work and you will get a good grade. definately don't skip the map quizzes. easy A. i would recommend him and this class
EASY class, awesome teacher
Awsome teacher!! Class was very interesting. There is a lot of map quizzes but if you study them it's an easy A. Go to every class and take lots of notes... tests are straight from his lectures. Great class.. I got an A.
He was really nice, and his class wasn't too bad.

Very cool prof. I have taken multiple classes and he makes learning very simple, and doesnt hide what he expects.
Hes just an overall nice guy, you cant help but like him. Hes been a ton of places, so he always has something to ad to lectures that makes them more interesting. Hes really passionate about geography, and conveys the material he is teaching you clearly with out any confusion.
Is willing to help you, gives you the benefit of the doubt. His class was boring, but easy, and he's sort of an amusing guy.
I tool this on the internet. It is divided into map quizzes, reading and lecture quizzes. Its nice to have it broken down like that. Definitely not a BS class you actually have to do the work but overall pretty easy!
the class was interesting. The workload was kind of a lot, but it was pretty easy.
Great professor! Really loves to teach and knows a ton of information. There are a lot of quizzes/tests, but they're all online. Sometimes there's a tricky question or two, so read carefully. The time limit is intimidating at first but if you're prepared for the test/quiz you'll be fine. Great class!
Great guy, made European Geography as fun as it can, you just have to keep up on the lectures and quizes, he has pre-made notes typed up on what he is going to talk about for his interent class, so just open up Word while you watch the lecture and type away. Tests are based mostly off the lectures, quizes off the book
This class is an easy A. He is very clear on the subject, and also makes learning about it interesting. The quizzes and test are online which are nice. The only problem i have with the class was that the tests were timed, but other then that all you have to do is read a little bit, come to class. And dont need to study at all.
Dr. Shaeffer rocks my world. Very funny, very nice, very dorky. Can't go wrong. Also quite helpful.
Knows what he is talking about
Expects you to do work, but as long as you do it, easy. A+
Great Professor! Very funny, goofy, entertaining, helpful and he loves the subject matter! You have to go to class to get all the lecture material and you have to stay on top of assignments and reading. Easy A! I would Highly recommend. I loved the class and I learned so much!
Prof. Shaeffer bumbles around his words and makes stuff up. Takes a whole lecture to explain what should only take a few minutes
The online class is HARD. There is barely enough time to even read the questions on the online quiz/exams, let alone answer them. Some lectures post the night before the exam and one must listen to them in order to pass the lecture exams. 12 map quizes, 12 quizes on chapters of the book, 6 exams on the online lectures, and a final exam. Lot of work
I took this as an online class. He is a funny teacher. The lectures are the same as attending class and there are tons of quizzes but if you prepare for them they are super easy. I only missed two points the entire semester. If you do the work required and don't slack its an easy A+.
Worst online course I've ever taken. Volume of work was a nightmare. Hours and hours of BORING online lectures each week. Never stops rambling. Tests based on lectures are ridiculously hard. Even if you took notes you'll do poorly. Time limits given for tests are completely unreasonable. TOO MUCH work for an online class. BEWARE.
If you show up to class, skim the textbook and keep it open during online quizzes, and don't stress out about time limits on online tests, then you'll do fine. He's a nice guy, and I'll definitely be taking another class from him.
Very interesting course...Prof Shaeffer is a great person and while it is not easy to stay on task, you get a lot out of the lectures...
I took his course for gcu 121 and i am currently taking his class for gcu 325 because he is easy. You don't have to do much to get a good grade. This is my chill course for the semester, so if you have room in your schedule for an easy class, take this teacher.
great teacher
Online Geography of Europe calss seriously boring as hell. Took hours of lecture to convey what should have taken less than one. Map quizzes ask ridiculously trivial questions. Online lectures consist of him saying country names just to hear himself pronounce them. STAY AWAY. If I ever see him in person, I will lose it. I can feel it.
The class is very straightforward. He makes heavy use of the textbook for quizzes. This teacher is pretty clear in his lectures and throws in some interesting material. However the lectures are pretty long so watch them ahead of time. Also, know maps, they are the hardest part of the class. Good, easy, no-surprises (except for map quizzes) class.
He is a very good teacher and obviously loves what he does. He is also very responsive and extremely helpful. I took the online course and it was pretty easy. There are a LOT of lectures to watch but if you space them out you will be ok. Read the text and watch the lectures and you will get an A.
Easy class, You have 3 types of quiz's for each of 6 sections Reading, Map and Lecture. Map and Reading quizes are easy using the online book and search option. There is no way around it you gotta listen to lectures to pass the lecture quizs. Final Exam easy using online book and search options. I finished the class in about 8 weeks. easy A
Took course online. If you read/watch the lectures and use the guide its an easy A. The lectures are TIME CONSUMING though. Easy overall, would recommend.
Geography of Europe online is really easy class. If you are going to take this course make sure you are 100 percent committed because it involves watching hours of lectures, lots of reading and getting familiar with maps. Time consuming yes, hard not at all. Just do the assigned work and its an easy A.
Dr. Shaeffer is one of the nicest, most helpful instructors/advisers I have ever come across. He is a bit scatter-brained when he lectures but I found it humorous. He makes it a point to only test on things that he teaches in class or from specific reading assignments. He doesn't just tell you to read the whole textbook. Thumbs up!
Pretty easy class. Watch the lectures, they're boring but you can play them up to double the speed. He repeats himself 5 times in a row. He seems nice....answered emails right away and nicely. Easy class. I barely got an A but an A- would be a piece of cake if you just put in some time to study. He gives note outlines so it's SIMPLE to take notes
Dr. Shaeffer is a really nice professor. I enjoyed the class because Geography rocks and also because I like looking up locations on maps and then filling in blank ones. There is a lot of doing that in this class. Lectures are informative and tests are very fair. Highly recommended for a 5wk summer class!
This guy is awesome! I took this class, and his online section of GPH 325. He tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests, and the online quizzes are STRAIGHT from the book. He is very helpful and loves to answer questions. I don't think I have had a professor that knew what he was talking about like this guy! CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR!
Great professor. This course is extremely well organized. What you are expected to produce is clearly stated in the syllabus. Assignments and quizzes are not difficult, but can be time-consuming. The lectures are the worst part of the class. I just sped them up to at least 1.6x, when he started showing pictures, I would end that particular lecture.
One of the nicest, most understanding professors you will meet in college. He knows what its like to be a student and grades fairly. He has a certain tone and projection of voice that makes you want to listen to what he has to say next. I was never interested in geography before, but he opened up my mind. Thanks for a great semester!
loved this class! very straightforward, i knew up front exactly what i needed to do for each unit for the whole semester. and you can go through the course as fast as you want, take your final, and finish early. lectures can get long..but speed em up and its a breeze because he is pretty interesting. he LOVES what he teaches.
Dr. Shaeffer is a superb instructor and advisor. Sometimes he stutters a lot or has long pauses, but he seems to hold more information than most. No lectures for this one, but discussions were intriguing and stimulating...very well organized course, and easy to follow/keep up with. Be careful on some reading quizzes though.
Dr. Shaeffer is a great professor. I took this class online and it was very easy and straight forward. You know exactly what is expected of you before each reading, map, or lecture quiz. He LOVES what he teaches and he's been so many interesting places in Europe! Lecture's are a bit lengthy so don't wait until the last minute to watch them!
Online class: 4 credits. It covers a lot of material and is very time consuming but I loved this class. I learned so much. He has online lecture videos and provides a outline for the notes you need to take while you watch. Get the online book so you can search key words during the timed tests. Lots of homework due Weds., sometimes rambles in videos
Shaeffer is an amazing professor. The class was 4 credits because it covered a lot of information, but it was all manageable. The online lectures were time consuming, but informative and went right along with the provided study guides. Overall a great class, and one that is easy to get an "A" in given a little bit of effort.
Best professor ever!!
It was a great online class. I like his style.
Great professor. Test questions are literally word for word from his unit lectures. Map quizzes are simple. Reading quizzes are a challenge, so plan ahead! Paying attention and taking careful notes will earn you an easy A. I recommend him if you're diligent and decent at keeping track of time.
Easy class, only hard part is finding time to watch the online lectures, but if you open them in Explorer, you can watch them at up to 2x speed. I don't even know what his normal paced voice sounds like.
Listen carefully to all his lectures to do well on the exam. Map quizes and reading quizes take time as you have to prepare for them in advance. He is a great professor at ASU. Over all, GCU 325 is an interesting class. Highly recommended
this class is a slam "DUNK"an
He is pretty chill. Class is fast paced, but a pretty easy A. Reading quizzes suck, but everything else is pretty common sense. Wish he gave an A+ but that is his choice. Take it with friends and rock it. Also took GCU 426 which was harder due to the huge paper.
Prof Shaeffer is awesome! His class was very intriguing. I learned a lot about Russia/FSU, and his lectures & quizzes were extremely straight-forward and you know EXACTLY what to expect when you take them; therefore, they should be fairly easy but studying is time-consuming. There was an 8pg fairly easy paper at the end of the course. RECOMMEND!!!
This class is not hard, but the most time consuming class in all my major (biochem). There were 3.5 hours PER WEEK of listening to lectures (10 lectures per quiz and each lecture was about 20 minutes), 60 pages of reading per quiz, and a map study guide per quiz. There are THREE quizzes per week. NOT AN EASY A!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you like traveling/Europe, then this is the class for you! Content is very interesting and lectures include personal stories and pictures from his trips. Quizzes are straightforward. Fairly easy A, shouldn't get less than a B. Only complaint was I took the 7.5wk class, so it was fast p
So much work in a half semester class. 7 hours of video lectures a week and you HAVE to watch and take notes or else you won't do well on the lecture quiz every week. 2 map quizzes a week, 2 reading quizzes a week. No need to read book if using ebook, easy enough to look up. But you have to watch videos and study the map ahead of time to do well.
Way too big of a time commitment for a class I took for university cred, would not take again and would warn anyone who doesn't care too much about geography against taking it. I swear a lot of time in lecture vids are redundant statements or rambling which just adds to the dreadfully long lecture videos. But if you like geography i guess its good.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE. He assigned AT LEAST 50 assignments every week and it takes hours to finish. The information taught is relatively easy, but the amount of homework assigned makes it impossible to get an A. Not worth it if you're willing to spend at least 12hrs a week for this class alone
I somewhat disagree with the bad ratings. I did session B so fast-paced, and in the syllabus, it states like 18+ hours of work a week. However, it only took me maybe 6-9 hours a week. I watched the lectures at 2x speed, got a 100 on most lec quizzes. Skimmed textbook for reading quizzes (40 min time limit), map quizzes are cake. Easy A for me.
Lectures are long (4-parts, up to 2hrs total per chapter) and pretty boring. He tends to ramble, which makes it difficult to take notes. Pay attention or you'll miss quiz answers. Friendly guy though, clearly loves the subject. The rest is just reading the book & studying maps. Put in the time and it's an easy A.
I took the online course and this class is easy if you have the time for it. The lectures are so boring because he rambles on about one thing for too long. Take notes during the lecture and pay attention to what you're reading.
6+ hours of lectures, 3 reading quizzes, 3 lecture quizzes, and 3 map quizzes Every Week for 7 weeks! If you have a hardcopy of the book expect to read all 575 pages of it. I do not recommend this class as it is way too much work, but the grading is straight forward and mildly lenient.
This course takes a lot of time 7 hours/week just watching lectures. Get the book DIGITALLY to easily search up subjects. If you're into geography and have substantial knowledge of Europe, TAKE this class. Shaeffer is a genuine individual who is passionate about this subject. I really loved this course. Overall it's fun and interesting.
Easy class if you pay attention. Professor is super knowledgeable. 18 sections, each has about an hour of lectures, then reading a 15ish page chapter, then reviewing maps. Each section had 3 quizzes. Not a ton of feedback but it wasn't needed since there was only multiple choice tests.
I took Professor Shaeffer for Russian Geography, US Geography, and I am taking him in the fall for Latin American Geography, I absolutely love the guy. He's probably one of the smartest professor's I have ever had and hes incredibly knowledgeable in Geography both textbook knowledge and real life experience wise. The lectures can be long at times
18 Lecture Quizzes 18 Map Quizzes. I've taken 5 courses with him. He talks for about 20 - 40 mins, 3 or 4 videos per week (2 hours of lecture a week). Can be boring at times. Take notes and you'll be fine. Map quizzes are timed 1 min per question and you cannot skip or go back in any quiz! Overall fairly easy though. Get online books, use Ctrl+F.
This professor is clearly enthusiastic about the subject matter, but they need to pay a little more attention to the quality of their lectures. Incessant audio issues, popping and clicking, tell me there is very little quality control. For an online course, lectures make or break it, and this course is broken.
Get the ebook and search that for the reading quizzes. Use google maps for the map quizzes. Using google and having the lectures open while taking lecture quiz is enough. Very easy and fun course, you don't actually have to read or watch the lectures all the way through. Just look for your answers, more than enough time for all quizzes.
3 credit hours 18 class hours per week. There were approx 6 hours in lectures each week alone, the reading was insufferable with way too much information. I got the paper book. Thank god, I had to look everything up even after reading it. Be prepared to put in the time 18+++Hrs. Maps take 1 hour each. You have 48 hours to do each module.
I wouldn't recommend this class if you are taking others or have a lot of responsibilities. Three tests every other day. Teacher is nice, knows a lot but the class sucked up so much time I couldn't do anything else. My family never saw me even though we lived in the same house! Never thought I'd be so glad to do laundry again. Or grocery shopping.
Dr. Shaeffer was an inspirational lecturer and professor. The course is jam-packed with 18 units in 6 weeks, but it's entirely manageable. You have a reading quiz, a map quiz, and a lecture quiz due every M/W/F. I took this class alongside working full time and taking a 24-credit semester course load.
I took this class to fulfill one of my general requirements. I like the instructor and I learned a lot about Europe. However, I disagree that this class is totally manageable when working and attending school full time. Never mind if you have kids, too. Extremely test heavy. I could barely do anything for my other classes in order to keep up.
I have taken 2 classes with Professor Shaeffer. Look, his classes are easy, and it's easy because of the way he sets it up and how clear the course material is. 3 quizzes on each module 16 modules a semester. Just do the reading and take good notes on the lectures -- it's not rocket science. It's one of the most informative classes at ASU.
GCU 421 was an easy A to get the "Cultural Diversity in the U.S." credit out of the way. Being an A session course it was a lot of work packed into the short semester, but if you stick with the material you should have no problems.
The class is an easy A if you put in the effort. Taking it online was a time commitment with 1.5 - 2 hours of lectures 3 times a week along with 3 test on the lectures and 6 quizzes a week. The content is not hard, but in order to do good on the test you have to watch the lectures. He will quiz you on obscure things like where he went on a hike.
Shaeffer was polite over email and helpful in tutoring. The class itself is pretty annoying, personally. A lecture quiz, map quiz, and reading quiz every MWF was tedious as I took a lot of credits, but most of the work is already online or taken word-for-word from the textbook. There is a day to make up quizzes, but don't rely on it as its work.
I've taken 2 classes with Prof. Shaeffer and would come back for a 3rd. They're very lecture heavy and there are 3 quizzes for each of the 18 units, but each unit only takes about 2 hours each to complete. Just take thorough notes on the lectures and absolutely get the digital version of the textbook (on Kindle if you have to).
There are three quizzes due every Monday Wednesday and Friday - a lecture, maps, and reading quiz. None of these are very difficult, but you will constantly be reading or preparing for a quiz for the entire semester. So not difficult, but time comsuming. I have taken three courses with Schaeffer, and would take more if I had the time.
has to be the one class I genuinely looked forward to going to.I have an awful attention span which made most classes hard, but these lectures were fun, interesting and it was cool hearing about all his personal experiences with the country we were learning about. It really made me interested in the course subject outside of class which is awesome
While 9 tests each week sounded like a lot, they went fast, and I stayed a week ahead the entire time. Yes, he repeats himself and mumbles, but you quickly realize which key points he tests on and his style. If you enjoy geography and just pay attention in lecture and highlight key stats and names/places in your book you will be fine.
Lots of quizzes, 3 per module. Super easy, control F on lectures to find answers in transcript, control f for online reading quizzes, and keep open a map of selected countries for map quizzes. Super easy class, just takes a bit of time to complete 18 modules of 3 quizzes each
Professor Shaeffer's class is definitely easy, but don't ask him for any type of concession whatsoever. He is the type of professor to stay true to the syllabus regardless if there is legitimate reasons to go against it. If you have work while going to ASU, never take this course.
One of the more time intensive classes I have taken, but I learned probably more in this class than any other so far.
The video lectures are extremally quite if you have any type of hearing difficultly make sure you have an equalizer program to boost the audio. I email him about it and all he said was "no one else complained", I talked with tech support and they agreed that's pretty quite. The quizzes are easy but there are a few questions that are suspect
Took the A session- workload was heavy at 9 quizzes and 3 discussion posts per week but grading was fair and if you have access to the educational materials the content is easy, and you can work ahead if you're good. No A+ available. Lots of work means there are a lot of opportunities to earn points and make up for poor grades in individual modules
There are 18 modules and each has a map quiz, reading quiz, lecture quiz, and a yellowdig post. It is a bit of a time commitment, but it is all fairly easy. Stay on top of deadlines and you should get a good grade. Very straightforward and simple layout. you repeat everything for each module. I ended with an A and thought it was really easy.
If you're looking for an easy cultural credit DO NOT take this class. This class is way more work than it should be, with 2 LONG quizzes and a 200-word discussion per module with 18 modules in total. The professor and his grading itself is fair, but the amount of tedious homework is crazy.
I had multiple classes with Professor Shaeffer. There is absolutely a lot of work to do in these classes but I feel like it was worth it. I learned a lot of information.
I had multiple classes (322, 323, 325) with Professor Shaeffer. There is absolutely a lot of work to do in these classes but I feel like it was worth it. I learned a lot of information.
I had multiple classes with Professor Shaeffer. There is absolutely a lot of work to do in these classes but I feel like it was worth it.
The class itself is not difficult by any means, there is just a ton of work. 18 modules with two due on Sunday, then a following one on Wednesday. 20 yellowdig posts have to be made 18 of them being about the modules and an additional 2 about a favorite area. Really shouldn't get anything less than an A but it will just take a lot of time.
I'm enrolled in the Physics program so this class is out of my subject area, however, I needed an upper level elective. I thought this class was going to be a grind but Professor Shaeffer is fantastic and made me interested in the material and the subject as a whole. Amazing lectures and relevant tests. I wish there were more teachers like him.
Pretty easy class if you keep up with the work. A lot of reading and lectures. Multiple modules due twice a week. Yellowdig essays are easy points. You can use your notes & book for the quizzes.
He calls himself "Dr Shaeffer." Most positive reviews are probably written by him. You will turn in 14 assignments/week in the 8 week format. The amount of time this class takes away from my stem classes (that actually matter) is comical. The workload is way too high; you'll find yourself hating the landscape that inspired this class.
Very easy class, all of the answers for the homework are in the textbook, except his lectures, however those are very easy as well just look over the videos
Great professor! I have taken 3 classes with him. His classes are mainly session As or Bs so there is a lot of work. There is a map, lecture, and reading quiz for each module and about 10-12 modules. The quizzes are on canvas and you can find the answers pretty easily in the book. He also does makeup day to make up any missed quizzes.
Very easy class to be honest, there is a good amount of work but nothing to be scared about, all the answers are in the textbook so as long as you have that you should be fine. The class is also based on a point system so there is some room for error
Professor Shaeffer was awesome to experience in person. You can tell he's very passionate about the Geography of Arizona, and he's always eager to interact w/ students and answer questions. There's no exams but lots of homework/ quizzes. Be ready to complete all of the assignments for a good grade because of the point based grade scale.
This class is the ultimate snoozefest. Professor Shaeffer is a really nice guy but the content presented in this class can be really time consuming. Way too many assignments for an Arizona Geography class. Throughout the semester Shaeffer was able to quickly respond through email, but the overall structure of this class isn't ideal.
The worst class I have ever taken. Take something else if you can. There are 16 assignments due EVERY WEEK. 4 of them are 80 question, mind numbing fill in the blank from the book. The audio on lectures sounds like he is speaking over an intercom and are boring. Map quizzes barely passable. Tried to give benefit of doubt, but this was horrible.
For a 7-week course, the workload is ridiculous. 18 modules total and 6-12 assignments per week! Each module had a 10-question map quiz, a 20-question lecture quiz, and an 80-question reading quiz. Worst of all, the professor expects you to spend 18 hours per week on this course. Unless you have lots of time to spare, I don't recommend this prof.
Awful.
I took a C session of this course, and while I felt that it was manageable, it was still a lot of work. Each week there is a reading quiz, lecture quiz, and map quiz, with the reading quiz being 80 questions. Other than that though, there is nothing else. Class is entirely lectures and the Professor is weirdly strict about people paying attention.
I really liked this professor. He was fun-loving and super accommodating. Homework was a bit much but definitely doable. Definitely take this class if you need it.
Dr. Shaeffer's classes convinced me to add a minor in Geography. His lectures are extremely interesting and he even includes his own pictures and anecdotes of his travels to regions mentioned in his classes. I have taken Geography of United States and Canada, and Latin America from Dr. Shaeffer and have enjoyed every minute. Please try them out!
Lots of reading but extremely easy. Three quizzes a module: a lecture quiz, a reading quiz, and a map quiz. I would alt tab the lecture or reading while doing the quiz. Time consuming but easy. He rambles alot during the lectures, i skimmed alot of the videos. Maybe 2-6 hours a week if you're good at scanning for key words and skimming.
Class consists of 18 modules. Each module has 3 quizzes. 1st quiz is a lecture quiz over 3 lectures, 30min-1hr long each. 2nd quiz is a reading quiz averaging 40-80 questions each. 3rd quiz is a map quiz with 10 questions. Everything is open book/ Note/ Map. There are 3 modules each week, so 210-330 questions a week (70-110 per module) Good luck
He was great overall and the course was not too difficult, just time-consuming. One lecture quiz, reading quiz, and map quiz due M,W,F, but all the information is covered in recorded lectures/in the textbook. Some lectures can be a little dragged out a bit due to rambling but it's not too bad. The grading criteria are very clear for the course.
He's a really cool professor. Overall very chill. I've only ever taken his online courses, which can be somewhat time consuming, but it's very standard college stuff (reading, lectures, tests), so it just comes down to time management. The only thing I hated were the YellowDig discussions, but I don't think he has much control over that.
More homework than any class I have taken so far, however he is a good lecturer, very knowledgable and you can tell he is passionate about what he is teaching. If you are looking for an easy 3 credit online general studies elective, GCU322 is a decent choice. No essays, only quizzes. If you do take it, get ready to spend some time on it though.
Quizzes, lectures, and map test. He is deadline heavy but gives you an opportunity to make them up (to a certain limit AND that does not mean to skip all of the assignments and wait until the makeup days). Pay attention to the lectures, the reading and maps quizzes are easy to figure out if you prepare. Overall good class.
Prof. Shaeffer lays out his expectations clearly right off the bat and expects you to do the work you signed up for. It's not the hardest class I have ever taken, and his open-book + open note policy makes it absolutely clear that if you mess up a question, it's not due to lack of material. I signed up for another class with him this session.
I don't know how he is as a professor because I never communicate with him but his class was not fun. A lot of quiz you have to do 3 quizzes every other day and they are timed with a final paper the quizzes are so hard to of good on. This took more time than my actual classes for my major I don't recommend the structure of course needs to change.
Best class to wipe out the cultural awareness area +C (HU/SB) requirement foisted upon you regardless of major. Thoroughly enjoyed the course, easy A.
I hated this class with a passion. Geography majors don't put this much effort into their degrees: 3 quizzes, 3 times per week, one with 40-80 questions. And Professor Shaeffer still had the audacity to require a final essay. Didn't drop it because it was my last session before graduation. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.
Same assignments every week. Quiz, map quiz and an 80 question reading quiz due three times a week sometimes two. It was not hard quizzes but just time consuming if that makes sense! It is an easy A if you do all the assignments.
This class made me enjoy geography! Lectures are engaging, and the (lecture) quizzes are open note—just write everything down and you'll do great. Attendance matters, though—you start losing points after a few absences, with a max cap on how much can be lost. (If you plan to miss a lot of classes which I don't recommend)
Shaeffer is a great guy and he definitely cares about his students. I can see how some people might have been caught off guard by the amount of "busy work" that they had to do, but to be honest I found the content about Europe very interesting. I had it where you go in once a week to take a quiz based on his pre-recorded lectures.
While it has a little more work then you would want for an elective the material is super interesting and it really does not take that long. Professor Shaeffer is great.
A lot of quizzes, multiple per week based on the book, maps, and lecture videos. then an end of course essay. Overall this was a very interesting class.
