GREAT TEACHER

Gregg as he likes to be called is a great teacher. Very intense subjects with lots of energy. He is very understanding and gives tough tests. You can skip the book and stay for the lectures, they are Oscar Award winning performances.

Tests follow both book and lectures - take good and through notes. Easy going. Very personable, spittle and all

I took Soc 120 from him, and loved it so much I brought a friend with me to take 130 from him the next semester. He's the funniest and most entertaining lecturer I've ever heard. I've also never learned so much from one class as I learned from his.

This is the kind of professor you like to get. He loves his subject and he's happy to be there. I listened raptly (correct use of the word) during lecture and got the easiest A of my life.

Lectures are a lot of fun. However, tests are hard due to a difficult subject. Nice guy though

He does not return take home midterms, I got a 61 on it and he wouldn't explain why. His lectures seem simple enough but then you do bad on the tests. On the up side his class is very entertaining.

This course is defintely worth taking! You will learn strange but interesting topics. If your into Marx and Weber this isthe course for you!

Class was pretty easy, be sure to keep up with the notes, that he prints out. Two papers that are pretty easy to write. Quizes are 30 questions or so, drops lowest score. Great teacher, passionete about this subject, pretty funny to.

He was the most energetic teacher that I have ever had. You can really tell that he loves teaching. He makes coming to class a fun experience. I wish all professors were that much fun.

Ive had a lot of teachers so far, and he is very much one of my favorite. He has a lot of energy and makes a boring subject fun and interesting. The quizes are simple the papers are a little tough involves a little research theyre extra credit so as long as u do it it only helps. TAKE HIM, HES GREAT

I took him my second semester and I really liked him! He had some good stories, and was a sweet guy. Very approachable and will help you with whatever you need help with and won't make you feel stupid for asking.

Humor and saliva fly from this man's mouth all lecture, so don't sit in front. Does spend much of class explaining petty extra credit opportunities. The 2 research papers are mandatory, easy, and count for extra credit. His impressions, boldness, and cursing keep the lectures interesting.

I didn't even know what sociology was until I took Gregg's classes. I went on to SDSU and minored in sociology. Gregg had a whole lot to do with my decision to minor in sociology. At both schoola he was the best professor I had in the field.

He is a very funny teacher, he cares about the students and makes class interesting. The class is a little hard, but you will be fine if you read the book and take good notes.

Greg is the best freakin' teacher I have had at Grossmont! This guy gives you notes for lectures, and really draws you into them with his theatrics. He used to be an actor so every lecture is almost like a show. He really loves his students! Tests are easy, and there are 2 papers. I LOVED LOVED THIS CLASS! If u are taking SOC 120 take it w/ Greg!!!

Great instructor. He is very clear and cover each topic thoroughly. He's very energetic and fun. He's always willing to help his students. Take Soc. 130 with Dr. Robinson, you will learn a lot and the quizzes and tests are not very hard.

Great teacher him and I had a great understanding cause of the club we are in lol. Very clear and makes the class fun. Test are good and fair just study what he tells you and no problem. Papers are fun and not as pressure cause they are not counted against your grade but you must do them.

Good teacher. Nice lecture notes. Would have been nicer if he didn't express his liberal view points and instead stick to just the facts. Some of his "spin" isn't the truth, just his opinion. For younger gullable students I felt this to be sad and misleading. Present the facts and let the students decide their own view points.

I loved this class! The professor is a total riot! Keeps things interesting with his crazy antics! LOVE IT!

If you want to be an informed participant in the school of life, take his class. No cramming personal agendas in your face just interesting info which matters to everyone. He is very knowledgeable, caring, on-the-ball and will give you extra credit options. Use the books.

Have taken 3 classes with him and he is the reason I am now a soc major. Hillarious and Interesting. Makes class fly by... Just take good notes and do the papers and you will do great! (I never really touched the books and got A's in all his classes)

He is a great teacher. He will give you a lecture note and its really help!! Take good notes because most quizes and exams are based on his lecture. He also cares about students so if you have a problem with his class, you should come talk to him. Fun class!!!

All I have to say is he is very animated, and lectures very passionately (almost acts out his lectures),Tests arent that bad. Honestly, if you get things quickly and easily, you really could get away with not buying the book.

Prof. Robinson is the reason I might be changing my major to Sociology. Makes the subject super interesting; you can tell he's really into what he teaches. I haven't touched the book and I have an A in the class, though.

I really enjoyed this class. I almost changed my major from nursing to sociology. I bought the book, I have rarely used it. Quizes are mostly based on the lectures.

Mr.Robinson is very energetic, funny, and most important helpful. He is one of the last teachers that teaches for the love of his subject. His quizes are based on lecture and he offers study groups with his teacher aide. Lastly he wanted someone to give him a "hot" rating and he earned one today.

Prof Robinson is a wonderful teacher. He goes out of his way to make sure people understand his lectures and before any test or quizzes he will do a last minute reiview. He is also offering extra credit to help us with briging up any quizzes and tests. He is wonderful, if I was required to take another soc class I would retake him. wondeful person

The best teacher at Grossmont

Very entertaining. You won't fall asleep with this guy's crazy antics. Class is pretty easy, barely studied at all and got an "A". Attending lecture is a must though, he tests mostly from his lecture than from the book.

Robinson is an alright teacher. The class is strictly lecture, a quiz every two weeks and two papers that you have to do in order to pass the class!

Doesn't get much better than this in college. Be sure to take 130, not Intro because that class it much, much more difficult. However, SOC. 130 is interesting, fun and easy. If you don't take this class, then you are crazy!

Professor Robinson is the best professor I have ever had! His lectures you will never find dull, and he is always so full of energy and I love his passion for the subject. Two papers are required but the best part is the points can only help you not hurt you and the points are applied to the midterm and final. Take his class!

Gregg is awesomee!! I have to take the 130 and I will take it with him, he's fun, really passionate about the subject, intensive, could have been an actor too and i don't know but there's something about him that makes him hot!

Robinson is HILARIOUS. Lectures are entertaining. Tests weren't too hard, as long as you took notes and were listening. NEVER LEAVE DURING THE MOVIES. He'll ask questions just to see if you stayed (what color shirt was Dr. Jacobs wearing?) The final paper sounds really daunting, but it's not that big of a deal. If you need to take Soc. take him.

Great teacher! But don't take him if you can't step outside your sheltered world for a bit of REAL life stuff. Anyone easily offended by this teacher should be taking classes at some prissy all girl school where they serve tea and crumpents!

okay so let me say that the idiot who said that you dont need you book is way wrong. Gregg doesnt need a book because its all in his head but you do still need it for the tests! gregg offers great insight and treats his students like adults. I highly recommend this class it way great! sure he is a little quirky but what a great teacher!

Gregg is an amazing teacher!! I took him for two classes (soc 120 and 130) His teaching style was the same so i new what to expect for each class. I really recommmend this teacher because you really learn a lot and use his info for everyday life. His assiment with experiencing poverty really made changed my view on homelessness. GREAT TEACHER! :-)

Gregg is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is kind, understanding and he makes lecture fun. I had NO interest in the class before it started and now I am thinking of majoring in sociology. The tests are pretty straight forward as long as you pay attention and go over your notes. He doesnt make you go to class but you should! TAKE HIM!

Hilarious, made me look forward to going to his class. If you miss class, just go to another one. Tests weren't too easy, nor too hard. Even if you don't end up taking him, GO TO A CLASS! so much fun. My brother and friend both joined me in there just to watch the comedic routines!

Gregg was seriously my best professor at Grossmont. His lectures are so entertaining and what he says just tends to stick with you. Test and Quiz questions were taken directly from the lecture notes. You have to take this professor! Hes a greaat funny guy

Gregg is by far one of the best teachers i have ever had. he was one of the reasons why i became a soc. major. he's so dam funny! but at the same time the subject very seriuosly! if you listen very carefully to the lecture notes, and READ the book, you will get a defenate A. if possiable, take him for ALL SOC. classes :-)

Great teacher and very smart. You will learn so much if you take his class. His lectures are very interesting with a ton of information. Make sure you attend class and take good notes and you will pass his class no matter what. And if you need help in the class, he will be there to answer any questions that you may have. Great guy!

He is amazing best class all year. Very understanding and helpful.I had very little interest in SOC but he had me from day one I walked out saying WOW!. Just as a note he has changed some of his testing so you will need to get the books for the class contrary to other post form past classes.

First day, when i saw gregg stepped in, I almost dropped the class. Later I ralized he wasn't that bad. Lectures were interesting. Test and quizzes weren't that hard as long as you read your lecture notes.Plus he prepares you for any exams coming up. Overall Gregg makes sociology interesting.

I was raised to be very conservative and on the first day Robinson will admit he's a flaming liberal. That made me want to drop the class but I'm glad I didn't, he's an awesome teacher and has very animated lectures which makes sociology very interesting. Take his class! He's definitely the best teacher I've had so far.

I've taken two classes with Gregg and he is awesome! One of the best teachers I've ever had, he is passionate about teaching and lectures are always interesting. You do need to be in class though, because notes are key to passing the quizzes and exams. Only downside is he doesn't respond to emails or messages, always gotta refresh his memory.

He is a great energetic teacher. I hate being in class for long periods of time because i fall asleep, but he keeps you up and man he's pretty funny at times. Notes are very important, overall he's a good teacher to take. The two written assignments are not even mandatory!

Oh my God...I wish I have Gregg's energy and sense of humor. His class is really fun. You keep laughing for 1 hour and the rest trying to recover and breath. However, READ the designated chapters and take notes. Ask him if you do not understand because he is more than willing to answer. DO the extra credit essays. Easy A unless you do not study!

This instructor was very engaging! He found ways to keep some pretty boring material interesting and he offers lots of extra credit points. He is very reasonable and understands that some students learn differently then others. Highly recommended!!!

He's cool because he makes the class interesting but if you are not a good test taker than i wouldn't take this class. the only other thing in his grade book are the 2 extra credit papers. but if you are good at taking tests than he is a good teacher to take.

Gregg is very passionate about what he is teaching and his lectures are animated and full of information. I appreciate teachers that love what they teach - it makes a huge difference in my opinion. I do look forward to class each week. You will need to study for his quizzes but he provides a pretty detailed review and lecture notes.

dr. robinson rocks! you have to take this guy- not only is he an intelligent, competant individual who is knowledgable on his subject, but he's animated and fun and a pleasure to listen to while in class. take him! not an unreasonable grader, but does require some textbook reading- though you'll at least pass if you dont.

This dude is hilarious, there wasnt one lecture where he did not make the entire class laugh their a** off...yes...the quizzes are difficult cause it's half book half lecture...but u have to study to pass, and if u earn an A prior to taking the final..he lets u walk away without taking it...he also offers 2 papers, which help out a lot! OMG! This guy is hilariously funny and utilizes his humor to keep you awake. I had to take this class for my GE & am so glad I took him. I love the fact that he gave you options for how you want your test scores either MC or essay. The extra credit choices are fabulous also. I am hoping that when I transfer, most of my profs will be as worthy!

This guy is one awesome professor because he tells you exactly what pages to read in the textbook to prepare you for the tests. He also lectures in a way that grabs your attention while at the same time, giving you what you need to know to get an A on all the exams. Just remember to attend class. There aren't even any required essays to write.

You are graded on tests, the and extra credit points.He gives out study guides, and the text page numbers for test questions. A great teacher expects you to do your best.

I think I opened the book twice the whole semester and still got a B+. The tests are almost completely lecture-based, which is awesome because his lectures ROCK. I actually looked forward to coming to his class just to hear what he had to say to us. Incredibly intelligent, genuinely wants you to succeed. Will help those who ask for it. TAKE HIM!

Gregg is the best. So animated and uses life examples in reference to the lecture material which is a bonus for me since I'm a math and science kinda gal. If you do the extra credit and pay attention to the lectures you should do well on the quizzes. Especially since he sets aside the day prior to the quiz for review, the Q & A portion. Awesome

This guys is one of the best profesor encounter. He loves to make his point by making you encounter the reality of things.

He is a really good professor. If you go to class you will pass no question. He follows an outline, gives real life examples that you can remember, and goes over the material until it is clear. He offers two extra credit assignments. I think he is interesting, helpful and engaging.

Awsome professor! He makes every class interesting and time goes by very fast. No hw except for the book readings and online readings (which are long but interesting) there's only 5 quizzes but if you are not a good test taker definitely do de extracredit papers to get a good grade.

As much as Robinson was an amazing Prof, this class was really hard on me. His lectures were clear but when it came for the tests, nothing made sense. I had to go visit him so much and get as much extra credit points as I could. I went from an F to a C, after a lot of hard work. Just don't take his 3 hour class, I think that's what ruined me.

HE IS AMAZING!!!! He has no hmwk- well reading, but you can do w/o, extra credit, and he is amazing in his lectures! He is also flexible. You must take him! oh he does sometimes say bad words so just be warned.

He's a really good prof! He get's really into his lectures and speaks the truth about things. I didn't really like the class because it is all LECTURE! He offers extra credit but personally I didn't like the class. He is a really good professor though! Take him! There's never any homework.

He is my favorite professor I've had at Grossmont! His lectures are fascinating and relevant and you'll find yourself laughing and learning a lot. Tests are hard, but take good notes and do the reading and you'll be fine. Extra credit papers are made available and if you do well you don't have to take the final. No reason to not get an A.

One of the best teachers I've ever had! He once wanted to be an actor so he sometimes acts out his lectures! A lot of fun! You have to be into his lecture to understand. Listen and don't get distracted by other things and you'll do well. Do both the extra credit papers and you can get out of the FINAL!!!

Great professor with a passion for teaching. Don't sit in the front 'lest you want to get spit on. haha! But he's a vibrant speaker, clear and projective. Mr. Robinson was an amazing speaker, he understands how to work with his students and is one of the only teachers I have ever had that cares as much as he does. Gregg is the BEST teacher I have EVER had! He makes everything so interesting even when the material is boring. I cannot stress how amazing of a teacher he is. I got A's on all my quizes and did the ectra credit papers and finished the class 2 weeks early. Take this class with him! I wish I could take it over again!

His class is fascinating! However, I do not think this is a easy class for everyone. Stats: A 30%, B 20%, C 18%, D/F 22%. other posts sound like you can easily pass but you still need to put some effort if you want to get a A or B. But if you are ok with a C, Yes it is a easy class. *His class is mostly based on his lecture.

HARD Class, yes it is! You better attend, open your ears, and either record the lecture or take god notes! He is a very smart professor! I struggled at the begining but I got an A bcs I studied hard! If you care take his class, but if not then dont waste his time & yours! However, you'll learn a lot from him!

Never thought sociology was this interesting! This is one of the most interesting classes I ever took, and that as a science major! Gregg makes everything so funny and intriguing! You have to read the book. His quizzes are really clear. He is very helpful!

Professor Robinson is probably the realist teacher on campus. He does not sugar coat what is going on in the world. Which in my opnion we need so people will wake up. However, it is an absolute delight to attend class. Very entertaining and Robinson will bend over backwards for his students success. Highly recommend that everyone takes his class!

Gregg is by far one of the best professors out there, he knows his material, he shows up to every class, and he is just a cool person. If you need help, he is there, and he is extremely clear on everything he wants. The work load is fair, and I would definitely recommend his classes to anyone interested in sociology.

Dr. Robinson is one of the best teachers I've had at Grossmont! His lectures are so interesting and he's always doing funny voices and gestures. The class is not easy; 5 quizzes, a midterm, a final, and 2 research papers. Take good notes and do the readings and you'll do great. I learned a LOT. Class is totally worth taking!

Greg is the best teacher i've had. he is so enthusiastic about teaching, and made a morning lecture worth being awake. he is what every college professor should strive to be. he is very helpful, and truly cares about teaching. textbook use is somewhat high, but coming to class is very important because most quiz stuff comes from lectures!

Had this class 3 hours at a time and I was worried at first but wow was I surprised. He loves what he teaches and makes it interesting. Lectures and PowerPoint are both online & contain 70% of questions. 2 chances for extra credit and if you do both the final can be skipped, 5 exams with lowest grade dropped. High recommend :)

One of the coolest teachers I've ever had. He's so sweet and gets that you're a student and you have a busy life. You are able to attend any of his classes. There are 5 quizzes (lowest gets dropped) a midterm and a final. He gives extra credit papers and if you do them you don't have to take the final. Highly recommend him. I didn't use my book

Hands down, the best professor I've had. There's no homework except for reading, and there are two papers that are optional and extra credit. If you do well on both papers, he doesn't make you take the final. If you need a Sociology class, take Robinson for sure!!!!

If you need soc class, TAKE HIM. Need to attend every class, i took his 3 hour class, and was entertained the whole time during lecture, and the lecture is about 75% of the test. you do not need a book but the highest grade you will get is a B unless you ace both extra credits that he offers. Really good entertaining, helpful and funny guy.

HE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER! He is hilarious!!! He tells you everything you need to know about the tests. LITERALLY! His lectures are about 75-80% of the tests, and he tells you what pages of the textbook to study for the test. He helps you whenever you have a question. Easy A if you pay attention and do the extra credit opportunity.

Robinson is a great teacher always willing to help. He goes over the material right before the test , LISTEN TO HIS LECTURE, he gives extra credit, drops the lowest quiz, and if you do the extra credit papers(2) you can skip the final, overall a great teacher he cares for students and is very down to earth HIGHLY RECCOMEND

Gregg is a cool SoCal dude, took him few semesters in the back. You'll get UC education with a community college price! Interesting topic and made me love the subject. However, the class was tough for me due the fact I'm a foreign student and both quizzes and tests were kinda tricky. Take him if you wanna study! His mom goes on here btw..

Dr. Robinson is an amazing teacher! he is a must take at Grossmont. His lectures are never boring, he is full of energy at 8 in the morning. Test and quizes are exactly what he teaches you, so no surprises. He gives little 5 min reviews before tests and quizes. Gives extra credit. He's just a sweetheart, I love this teacher!

His willingness to poke fun at himself, and suffer through self provoked embarrassment, not only makes the lectures more interesting, but easier to learn. He speaks truth. Two optional papers worth 12 extra credit points but with an average of 3 points on both will exempt one from the final exam... easy-going class; however, please do these papers!

Great Professor! I hate sociology but he made it interesting and enjoyable. Full of energy and wants to help you succeed. His quizzes are kind of difficult but if you do the two extra credit papers your guaranteed and A. They seem stressful but they are worth it and easy if you follow his instructions. I enjoyed Gregg's class. He is very very clear about his expectations, and even specifically what you will be tested on. He is willing to recap previous lectures at the start of each class, and before each test. He offers a massive recap prior to mid term and final, including time outside class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT PAPERS! I would take again.

Gregg was one of the best professors I had at Grossmont. Quizzes every other week along with a midterm and a final exam. There are also two optional papers I would highly recommend doing. He ALWAYS makes time for questions and goes above and beyond to explain seemingly difficult concepts. If you pay attention in class, you will succeed.

Personally I love sociology. Teachers are a huge thing when taking a class you care about and Professor Robinson is AMAZING. Yeah yeah the homework and assignments are annoying, but you learn so much in this class. You will never leave bored. Gives you a great insight on the real world. definitely would recommend him. Gregg's class changed my life and my outlook on social issues. His Soc 120 class is really interesting if you are committed to it. You have to study and take lecture notes. Recrding the lectures help. I want to take his current social issues class but not sure if I need it. I would re-take his class in a second. I highly recommend taking his class!

He's crazy but it's hilarious and keeps students paying attention. Cusses a lot when gets in character. Easy to pass if you pay attention at all. Do the EC papers. Professor Robinson is great at his job! His expectations are clear and he lets you skip the final exam if you do two extra credit research papers ranging from 3-12 pages. Everything on his quizzes and exams are exactly what he lectures. Do not skip class! He honors his office hours, and gets grades back to students quickly.

Most hilarious professor I've had so far. His lectures are kind of like stand-up comedy but is still very informational and interesting. Extremely clear on what is gonna be tested. If you do the bare minimum of the extra credit papers, you get to skip the final.

Amazing Professor. Goes over things in depth and connects to real world. You will have to read and you will have to study. His quizzes and test are 10% based off the readings and 90% off the lectures so you have to go to class. Because of him I am now a Sociology major. Highly Recommend

This was my favorite class this semester. Professor Robinson is a great instructor. His lectures are interesting, and what he says is important for the quizzes and tests. I got an A on every quiz, and a B on the midterm. Going in the final, I had an A, but after taking it, I went down to a B so do those two extra credit papers to skip the final!!!

One of my favorite teachers at Grossmont. He offers tons of extra credit, and doing it can make you eligible to skip the Final Exam. He is entertaining, which helps the info stick in your brain. would highly recommend.

I took this guy for Soc 120 and I did not regret it. He's very funny and makes you like sociology even if that isn't your major. Just make sure to come to class and take good notes on his powerpoints and the class will be a breeze. If I could take him again, I wouldn't even think twice.

This professor was amazing, if you are willing to learn about interesting topics and want to laugh during the process, take this guy. Intro Soc and Social Problems have been two of my favorite classes at Grossmont. There is never a dull moment in Gregg's classes. His lectures are both funny and entertaining as well highly relevant to real world issues. They also are extremely easy classes with in class quizzes and exams as well as extra credit papers. Social Problems class was great. Gregg is such a passionate teacher and he really wants his students to learn and pass the class. Very Lecture heavy but vert informative. Gregg is the man, if you need a sociology class, this is your guy. He makes the lectures entertaining. There are 2 papers due but they are not mandatory but if you do both you may be able to skip the final. Dr. Robinson is the absolute best! His lectures are very entertaining and he is a seasoned pro. He cares about your success and gives everyone the opportunity to do well in his class. I was able to skip the final because I completed the essay opportunities that he offers during the semester, which will benefit you more than one more test.

Don't leave Grossmont until you've taken a class from Gregg. I took Soc 120 + 130 with him and enjoyed every minute. I took his 8 am 120 class + it was like my morning cup of coffee. The subject's depressing though :// But Gregg explains theories in ways that make learning feel natural and interactive. Don't pass up on this learning opportunity.

Gregg is an excellent professor, and does his best to make class entertaining ( <-- he definitely succeeds here). Everything you need to know for tests is in the notes you take in class so there's really no reason you shouldn't do well. I STRONGLY recommend you take this class, it's really quite interesting and enjoyable.

Awesome lectures. Very bright and theatrical. Just show up and listen to what he's saying and you should be fine. Getting involved in the conversations are fun too. ASK QUESTIONS.

Really, if you're a good listener you'll ace this class, His articles highlight what he's looking for on his quizzes and the book does okay, but I avoided reading it and did fine. Passed with a C because I just didn't study. Recommend taking him. Doing two of his Extra Credit Essays also let you skip final!

Gregg is one of the best professors I've had in my entire academic career, and it's because he simply loves teaching. His lectures are entertaining while still being accessible to those new to Sociology. He truly cares for his students, I definitely recommend going to office hours even if it's just to chat about life and ask for advice!

He encourages participation in his lectures and ensures that everyone has the information down pat before moving on to the next topic, which is important because the lecture is the entire class. He is an amazing instructor that is genuinely excited about Biology. He goes off on tangents about biology and keeps the class very exciting. Wow. Best professor Ive ever had. I took his 8am class and he made it so easy to stay awake! His impressions were hilarious and he wasnt very strict, he was just clear on what he expected. I was never left unclear of an assignment due or what would be on the next test. Im taking him for a second semester because he was such a great professor!

Gregg is hilarious, says attendance is mandatory but has us check off our name as attendance. No textbook, and never any homework besides the online readings. We have quizzes about every other week on the chapter. No study guide, the quizzes and exam are ALL based on lecture. Has a lot of office hours. Do the extra credit papers if you take him!!!!

I had to take him for Sociology 120, his lectures are very straight forward, there are only 2 papers that you have to write throughout the semester, no homework, quizzes every 2 weeks and that's about it! Professor Robinson gives lots of extra credit opportunities. There are a total of 2 essays that a highly recommended to do in order to help you skip the final. Tests are a bit difficult but he drops your lowest grade. All the tests are based off the lectures so don't miss class. It can get kinda boring but work through it and you'll pass.

This professor is definitely what is needed in a world that will not stop to think nor talk about things that are controversial. The nature of the class is to not just talk about social problems but also to understand them in way that is applicable to real life. He is direct and uses profanity but teaches the material (it's depressing) very well.

Gregg is the BEST TEACHER that I have had in college. He is so caring and does whatever it takes to get people to pass his class. He gives some extra credit and if you put in the work which is not too much you will get an A. This pandemic is stressful, but with him he made sure it was not.
