Dr. Haseltine is definatly NOT an Easy A, if you get an A you gotta work for it. I passed with a low B and I had to really study for the tests. He is very nice and helpful and he really knows what he is talking about. I would recommend him to anyone...but you will have to go to most of the classes and study.

Worse teacher I've ever taken at KSU. His lectures were nothing like the exams that he gave. Gave an open book quiz every week regardless if we went over the material or not. Even though it was open book, most of the class failed them. If you have a choice, don't waste your time or GPA with Haseltine.

Dr. Haseltine's class is definately not an easy class to get an A. You got to work hard. Keep reading the text book beforehand, and do all the exercise sheets he gives you. The class has weekly quizzes with open book; however, students do not get all 10s. If you want to be challenged, take this course. In my opinion, great teacher.

His class was extremely difficult. I would study day and night for his exams and he would look for the smallest incorrect answers I had and act as if I had missed an entire question. I would also go to his office hours for more clarity but that didn't get me anywhere. He always had this sarcastic, higher-than-thou feel and always seemed obnoxious.

He's a very smart chemist (I know bc he brags about it so much), but not great at lecture. Didnt learn from him. Does give lots of resources though. Gives quizzes that equal a test grade, 3 tests and final. He curves which helps A LOT. Try to get at least B avg. on quizzes (by reading everyword in book),SI helps, and practice all the stuff on d2l.

My advice? Drink a lot of caffeine and stay sharp in his class. He moves fast, but is a very clear and thorough lecturer and loves to answer questions. Do everything to review for the exam that he puts on the review checklist. Go to SI. His tests are very difficult but he does curve. I got a 48 on one test and that was still a C with the curve.

Dr. H is such a great professor & really loves Organic chemistry. He really strives for all of his students to have the same passion for the subject. His tests are very tough, but he is the best professor I've had. If you commit the time to the class, you will do well. Didn't do as well as I would've liked, but would I'd definitely take again.

Requires reading chapter before he lectures and tests on material. Quizzes test grade. Tests over 2-3 chapters of material with a 20 question test, 50% are non-multiple choice questions. Makes class extremely difficult for the level he is teaching. He has a complex that requires him to prove his intelligence by sticking to you. Take someone else!

Don't taking him unless you want you G.P.A to drop. You will study and go to class but it still won't be enough. he doesn't give powerpoint but exams come from what he teaches in class. He believes the textbook is wrong so he doesn't test so much from it. his exams are tricky too. Run don't walk-take another professor.

I took him over the summer and I went to every class and was constantly studying. No matter how hard I studied I would get a C or lower on the test. This was the only class I was taking so all my time was devoted to this class. I took lab on top of this and got an A. He wrote his notes on the white board and taught as if you already knew it.

definitely not for the weak of mind or spirit. You will need to put in a lot of studying outside class, and even then don't just expect an A. He knows his subject and if you're willing to put in the groundwork you will walk away with a true understanding of the material. He also has a pretty straightforward grading policy.

If you took decent notes on the chapter ahead of class, the lecture was a breeze. First time I've actually understood what was going on! He posts old exams to practice!

This is my second time taking this class and it is incredibly hard. Professor does not go by the book, you have to draw reactions for his exams (many ochem professors do NOT require that), and he quizzes every class. He hardly gives extra credit but does give generous curves. You'll teach yourself everything, lectures are not helpful. BookBFF

Most lectures were just him blabbing on about pointless topics that didn't pertain to the course or help us learn more about Ochem. For quizzes, he locks the door the minute class starts and will not let you in to take the quiz. Unable to be in class for a really good reason? Don't even try asking to make it up. He's unhelpful and confusing.

I'd make a C and somehow it turned into a B

Lectures are not PowerPoints, they are notes he personally writes. Homework isn't given for a grade, only for practice. He's a nice guy, but he goes off topic a lot. He holds review sessions outside fo class which are him just going over practice tests and doesn't explain much here. Tests are difficult, but the curve he gives is huge.

I don't understand all the negative reviews. Haseltine is not a bad prof, but know grade is based off of 3 exams (1 gets dropped) and the final. No graded HW or quizzes. Read the textbook and work all the problems like he says and you will be ok. Gives a huge curve, so an A or B is attainable if you put in some effort. Nice guy, very knowledgeable.
