not a very nice person overall. completely unavailable to students
No Comments
if someone does not understand a concept, he shows it another way so the person can grasp it a different way. he is very organized, overall good teacher, although he is very hard to reach. he teaches out of the book, which is VERY good.
Very organized & tries to explain everything clearly so everyone understands.Pay attn to lectures; good luck tryin to reach him outside of class.
very mean.. must be on time every class meeting or he'll mark you absent. seems to be get really irritated when asked questions... not a good techer to get if you have difficulty with the subject.
Not easy, and won't put up with juvenile behavior (e.g. cell phones, talking, etc.). But takes his job seriously and will bend over backwards to help anyone who asks. Rigid and strict, but good.
Not very easy, serious , professional and willing to help anyone who asks. Strict, but good. He does not teach me only math but also good attitude and responsibility.
Very clear when explaining math problems. Technique in teaching is very excellent.
very mean. makes you feel stupid. gives everyone a hard time. gets pissed if you correct his mistakes. makes you sign a contract before you take his tests. makes you show your id before you take his test. accuses you of cheating when you look at the wall
A very good teacher~ he is stric but all good for ur future course in math~!!!he is very helpful~ of course who will pass the lazy stundents? just do the H.W and ask him what u don't know. "easy get A"
He is very strict, NO CELL PHONES, man he flips out about that, but..he is very clear and has some jokes which are kinda funny if you get high brow humor.
this guy was horrible ... ending up dropping the class because he would not help me with stuff that he covered last week. Got behind and humiliated me in class. Pulled me outside like a child and scolded me. Don't take this man ... he is on a power trip.
This man has no business at the front of a classroom. I can accept him as an engineer, but not a math teacher. Examples / lectures are lacking at best. Not to mention 15% of the grading scale is discretionary.
Knowledgeable professor who explains things well. Those who want to learn can do well. He does not appease whiners or put up with childish behavior, which is good for those of us who are serious about our schooling and want to learn.
Saikali is very unclear in his teaching. A huge part of the grade is subjective. He doesn't explain anything in terms of math, but in engineering, and is extremely rigid on not allowing calculators on tests. Avoid him.
If you are a responsible person who does the homework regularly, listens to what Saikali says in class, and takes an active part in your own learning, you can learn from Mr. Saikali. If you are a baby, you should avoid college altogether.
Kind instructor who wants people to learn. If you can't appreciate such an instructor, like Mr. Saikali, you should go back to daycare and have your milk bottle refilled.
expects a lot, but teaches well
Made student nervous
Do the homework and show up for class. Tests are straightforward and taken from the homework. Will walk through problems you don't understand. Can me strict at times, but overall good teacher.
He is a good teacher, who really knows his stuff. Do all the homework and you will do fine. What you don't know ask & he will explain. Very dry off the wall humor.
don't like his teaching style...he's just weird...
Dont take him!!!! I mean it... he treat his student like ****, I dont understand why this kind of person still teach in college
Writes way too fast and way too much! Also very impatient when answering questions. Not recommended unless you strive to be the fastest hand-writer in the world
wierd, just plain wierd. DONT take him...
HE WRITES TOO MUCH!!! he's nice, but could be very strict...so watch out, make sure you follow all his rules (esp on tests)...DO THE HOMEWORK! make sure you know all the problems, it will help you very much on the test. Also know the principles and main ideas, write down everything he writes on the board and read it before tests.
He's crappy, his jokes aren't funny, he keeps writing, so by the time hes done, you're still copying everything down then he moves on, and it's so annoying the way he covers evrything he writes, he doesn't put his students into consideration when teaching he just wants to look smart in front of everyone
sucks, boring , not funny lame, discouraging, picks favorites, never helps one on one, expects us to know the material before its taught, and he makes students sign a contract before taking a test, this thing is psycho
easy class unless u don't do the HW
The worst professor I've had at the school. His teaching methods are inapproiate for the classes of this level. He completely expects basics to be retained and known, he writes too much and too fast. It's hard for many students to keep up. He has a wierd sense of humor. He is rude to students. Does not help struggling students. Stay away from him!
Be prepared for each class and do all the homework and u'll be fine. The tests are fair. u have to study a lot but it's not that hard. dun be late for the classes! he takes attendance EVERYDAY and that's a big part of ur grade.
omg hes such a bad teacher..he thinks hes funny..but hes not..he thinks hes better than everyone and makes u sign a contract for everything....basically...hes a psycho....
He is such a great professor. Very organized and educated. He knows what he teaches and make you understand everything well. You just need to be polite and on time. His exams are fair. Its a great help to take his trigonometry class before taking precal or whatever. I like his behaviour and his way of running the class. He is the greastest
Are you kidding me? He is absolutely NOT the greatest. He is, so far, one of the most horrible instructors I've ever had. Honestly, I never thought I'd find a math teacher who CAN'T teach mathematics well. Obviously, Saikali proved me wrong. Somebody please evaluate this instructor's teaching techniques! He needs to get out of our school!!!
you will be dropped if LATE, let alone absent 3/4 times, is very disciplined, he doesnt hate his students, but runs a tight ship, i actually like his no bs style, but was late 3 times early in the semester so i dropped, if not for that i figure i would have probably got a B in the class...
very boring teacher, writes too many notes on the board, he doesnt like cell phones, so youre not allowed to bring it into the classroom, you have to sign a contract every time you take a test. you have to keep your hands on the desk at all times during a test. thinks he's funny, but he's just being corny and its annoying. dont take this class!!!!
This guy is the worst teacher. I was done taking the midterm-handed the test in-walked out of the class and said bye to a friend. He came outside to stop me and told me there was not talking aloud-that followed by him ripping up my midterm-****!
I'm so over this over bearing, none teaching, over the top with HIS rules and so on and so on. If he paid more attention to the class work and not so much on the discipline it MIGHT be worth it to take the class. So far I HATE this class. I should have took the summer off!
After Mr. Toler's class Math 35 by far Mr. Saikali is the worst teacher. He lectures and writes all the literature in the book on the board and has you write it down instaed of doing more problems. Never asks if anyone has questions on the homework. He never knew what a potatoe bug was. He said "I never knew a bug was named after a vegetable".
He's a MANIAC! He makes you sign a contract before every test. If you look at the wall or away from your paper, he'll accuse you of cheating. He has so many rules it's pathetic. NOT WORTH TAKING. Trust me. I want him out.
urkel
He's not that bad. He's a very knowledgable teacher and really knows his stuff. His class is not a "breeze" course and you have to work for your grade. He DOES answer questions about homework and as long as you ask he'll make sure you understand it. THe homework really helps and his test aren't that bad either.
The most professional and by the book professor i ever had. Very well organized. Taught very well and made the topics clear. Some might say he's a hard-ass, but that is because of all the undisciplined, ignorant children who just want to go to school because they don't know what else to do. If you don't want to learn, don't take the class. Some of u
it's not easy if u just go to sch to sit in the class n daydream u will get an A..it's impossible.this is a college not kindergarden ,so what u expect for? Do the HW he gives n undertsand his notes sec n textbooks, u will be SO fine! If u still think it's hard..ask for his help!
It's a pretty hard class. I am good at math and understood everything just fine and I still got a B. He's got some odd policies and is quite strict. But he knows his stuff and teaches well. He moves quickly through material so you don't get time to ask much in class. The book is very helpful. I wouldn't take him again, but he wasn't horrible.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had! He does not know how to teach, and goes over material way too fast. He makes "jokes" that make his students look stupid, like they are worthless and the only thing they care about is "partying" as he says it. He gives out homework and NEVER asks if we have any questions, or never goes over it.
If your the type of person that just wants to sit there an finally do work half way into the course an hopefully u pass i dont recommend this class. This professor isnt hard hes just pompus but in the end you learn a lot. Hes very helpful. hes strict about being respectful. Very good teacher though im taking him for Math 116 for sure.
Wow this teacher is by the book. Seems to me like someone might have gotten sued. Horrible teacher and 2nd grade humor while he picks on you. Just because he finished school he thinks you should already know the material.Thinks hes a savant but new flash ur an engineering major teaching math to Junior college, so stop being a hater and accept fate.
This teacher def has a power trip. NO CELL PHONES, even if u are putting on silent. Writes too many notes, starts to confuse you. Too much HW. Makes you feel like a little kid and in private school. Way too paranoid about cheating on test. He likes to heard himself talk and laugh at his own jokes. I would never recommend his class! Don't do it!
Yes i agree that he is pretty strict. I felt his homework assignments( which he didnt collect) prepared me for his tests. and i thought that he was very good at explaining the material. he was always available when i had a question after class. i would take him again despite him rudeness. his teaching worked for me and thought it was pretty easy
Strict policy on cellphones and talking during exams. A bit conceited, which may bother some, but I wouldn't take personally. Explains steps to solve problems in written and numerical form, as well as analogies. In this way, he caters to more than one learning style. Is available during office hours for problems one may not understand. He's alright.
Such a power trip! The only way I can describe him is rude and annoying. When you ask questions he just repeats what he wrote on the board. He also talks down to his students. He almost ha a heart attack when I moved my cell phone to a different purse pocket. He treats his students like they're 5
mayhe its just me, but it was hard for me to comprehend. like his examples but not his jokes. never goes over any homework. after tests, you have to come back
He's a good teacher but he is extremely strict. I got in trouble twice for having my hands in my lap while taking a test and was scared to death to ever take them off the desk again.I dreaded going to this class just because he's very intimidating. but he's a good teacher and always tries to clarify things. make sure to always say thank you!!!!!
I think that Saikali is realistic and tough. If nothing else, you will totally be prepared for Trig and ultimately that is a win for us. If you are an engineering major or strive under structure, take his class. If not skip him. In the end, this guy knows his stuff and guaranteed you will too. P.S. Ben Bernake is his best friend. haha
He is VERY strict. Attendance is important and he keeps track. He also keeps track of disturbances so DO NOT have your cells phones out. Even before class starts. Very intimidating as well. But if you always do the homework (you never know when he will collect it) and study for the test you'll do fine. The tests are multiple choice.

Strict instructor. Clear and to the point, he says several time about cellphones yet kids will be kids so it's entertaining when someone has one out. Will be more than willing to help you, all you have to do is ask. If you can't play by other peoples rules don't take his class
This guy can be a real prick at times, actually most of the time, but overall he is actually a very good teacher, extremely professional but at time a bit way overboard for the rules, sometimes he is a very cool teacher and at other times you will hate his guts. testing is extremely strict and he has no problem taking your test away from you.
He is extremely arrogant and condescending. He has this ego about how knows more than anyone and for things in the world to work right people just need to listen to him. And don't think he won't get on you're back if you don't address him by his name before saying anything.
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! His way of teaching is horrendous. If you had a question he would actually not really even notice that your hand was raised, and if you would ask, he would some how go off to some story. I took it at a different cc and I ended up getting an A in the class. DON'T TAKE HIM @ ALL COST
He's strict and straight forward! Don't get on his bad side! No cell phones whatsoever! He's so strict on his testes meaning hands in the table and eyes on your paper at all times! Be in class on time! He has a big vocabulary and he thinks he's funny.
DONOT TAKE HES CLASS, HE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER AT ALL
He is SUPER strict about cell phones and being on time. I would definitly recommend him though. He really goes into depth about all the math concepts and is probaby the best math teacher I have ever had even though he is a little weird sometimes. (He likes to talk about the psychology of babies). But overall, very clear lectures!
DONT TAKE HIM strict on attendence tests are extremely hard. i dropped his class waste of more than half the semester! he thinks he is always right and that the world would be a better place if someone asked him how to run things. he HATES cell phone use. constantly laughs n says u know what im sayin? NOBODY KNOWS WHAT UR SAYIN! dont take him!!!!!!
if you want a concept class rather than numbers chose saikali. A very caring man.
Professor Saikali may be a bit strange, but he is a good teacher; though there is one caveat that keeps him from being great: he moves way too fast while lecturing, and it is easy to miss a small detail and spend the rest of the class confused, and he is condescending to students who can't keep up with him, instead of slowing down to help them.
he's a good teacher best math teacher i've ever had but you really need to work and do all homework to keep up with him and to do good on tests, you'll love the course just need to put some effort
Worst teacher ever. He was rude to other students. And was always complaining about the builind. He said the person who built was a moron. And I got dropped because I was putting my phone on silence. In other words this guy wants to be Mr. Perfect all the time.
This teacher is POS top line. I have had strait A's in ALL my classes, including his trig class. This professor is incredibly strict on his "policy" and treats students like children. I wrote this professor up, WON, and was successfully transferred to another course, which i got the highest class in, not to mention an A. IF U WANT TO GET AN A..
Great teacher, Very helpful with everything. Lots of homework, however if you do the homework you will get an A in the class. He will pick a random homework question to grade on the test day. you do not ned to have the right answer but at least try to solve the question. made CALC very easy to learn after taking his TRIG class
I used to love math. It used to be one of my favorite subjects but Saikali seemed to ruin that. He is very condescending. Not very useful. AVOID HIS CLASS IF POSSIBLE!!!
Well, where to start with this guy. Probably the most strict teacher i've ever taken. speaks in third person an is completly full of himself. Complains about the text book everyday and the buildings. Instead of doing problems on the board he spends the whole class teaching the concept and does about 2 problems a section. DONT TAKE SAIKALI
Rude and full of himself. Doesn't seem to enjoy his job. Creates a stressful environment which makes it difficult. to learn
Not a good professor. I didn't really mind the fact that he was very strict and rude at times, it was just the simple fact that he didn't teach what he tested.
If you lived in Ancient Sparta, you'll live this.
He is by far the best instructor I've had. He not only thoroughly studied all the content he teaches, but also studied the psychology behind teaching and learning to make his lectures more effective. He sets a very professional environment while making it safe to have casual jokes and conversations during class time.
He is a horrible teacher. He thinks he is funny and is absolutely rude to all his students. He gives so much homework and everything he goes over in notes is rarely on the test. I have never got lower than an A in a math class and he makes me feel stupid. If he doesn't like you or you aren't a teachers pet then he will shun you. Don't take him!
Egotistical is the best way to describe him. If you prefer a strict teacher who is Strict and funny on rare occasions this is a great class. Not much guidance when it comes to taking test. Would not recommend if you cant deal with someone who is completely full of themselves.
The Professor is great at teaching the concept during lecture; however, no one is kidding when they say he is very egotistical. If you like being treated like a middle school child instead of an adult, take him. His tests and grading style are extremely unfair. He will make you hate Math more. Luckily, there are much better Calc teachers. AVOID!
He is strict, but he is good. He will be someone you won't forget. Take his class, just for the pleasure of getting to know him and his crazyness. He likes to refer to himself in the third person, and its really awesome.
Avoid this teacher at all costs. He critisizes his student if they ask a "stupid" question and then get furious when nobody asks questions. He also gets angry when you don't answer his question when you know he will ridicule your answer anyways. Not helpful and not nice. My personal worst teacher I've never had
Do not take this teacher. He will make you hate math. Besides his horrible personality, all his tests are multiple choice. How do you have a math class with no partial credit?
Saikali, He has a very strong personality and very intellectual. People really do take him for granted at times. His humor can be very random and dry but at least he is trying. He is super passionate and you can literally talk to him about anything just don't be scared to do so. He moves really fast so make sure you get it and ASK QUESTIONS.
He's a terrible teacher. I got an A in Math 116 and 121 (Calculus!) before taking his class, which I got a B in. I think if I'm able to get an A in calc I should be able to get an A in trig. Although if you want a laugh, read the positive reviews on here, there all written by him! Awww, he just wants a friend! xD
I hate math & this was my 3rd time taking this class. Mr. Saikali is strict & straight forward, but this is not high school, its college. He isn't there to waste anyones time & he offers a lot of extra credit. There is a lot of hw, but IMO, it's needed if you want a good grade. I HIGHLY recommend him & would take another one of his classes.
Take this class if you actually want to learn the material. If you just want to sit back and study the night before the test you won't do very well. Read the book and take good notes! His test are mostly on understanding why we are doing things and the vocabulary of it. He wants you to know how and why we got that answer. Grow up you're in college!
want to succeed and understand the course?DO NOT take this professor.he doesn't even get over the tests .And you suppose to know everything.
Hated every second of this class. Was not motivational, and spent the majority of the semester complaining and shoving his unbearably bad humor down our throats. Teaches the material and knows his stuff, but the 6+ hours of homework every week and his personality are not easy to get past. Take a different prof and save yourself 18 weeks of pain.
He goes over one easy problem and assigns you a really hard one right after and you sit staring at it for the whole class period.
Probably the most disrespectful teacher I have ever had. He treats no one with respect but expects everyone to treat him like a king. He creates a very uncomfortable learning environment and makes the class not want to participate. If you ask a question he will make you look like a fool. I don't recommend you take his class.
Half the lecture is him patronizing the class for something, related to the material or not. Very dry, dull lectures, although clear to understand. Most math classes i didn't have to study for tests but for his I highly suggest you do. Not impossible but I wouldn't recommend him.
His tests are very tough and he's huge on his notes. Saikali also doesnt curve. He spends a lot of his class talking about the concepts, when I personally prefer examples to learn. I do not recommend this class at all. I will give him this. he is very helpful during office hours.
Listen, Professor Saikali is not a bad professor. The class may be awkward the first couple of weeks, but it's just a matter of getting used to the class structure and the professor's style. Saikali is clear cut, helpful (through office hours), and obviously cares about his students future. Don't be hesitant to take his class, it really isn't bad.
He is a very tough grader, you have to do all readings and be ready to participate in discussions. You may need outside help because lectures are not all that clear.
AVOID !! AVOID !! AVOID !! Actually I took a class with him maybe two years ago, but i still can't forget him and his STRICT and BORING lecture, he will probably get angry when he asks a question and nobody answers (middle school style). why nobody is answering ? well, if you try he will make u look like a fool. VERY BAD TEACHING ENVIRONMENT.
This guy is the worst professor I have ever taken. He is extremely strict and does not care for his students' success so I decided I would take the "W" and take math 116 during the summer with a better professor. To top it off he yelled at me for having my phone out when I was putting it away when I was walking in class. DO NOT TAKE!!!!
I must be on another planet because this class is pretty good primarily because the professor communicates the concepts in clear English. What more can we ask for? It's all in the textbook and it's not like we read differently, notice different things, or have different cognitive firewalls to maintain existing systems.
