Structure of the class is very routinized which becomes somewhat boring

The teacher is easy to learn from but biology is a hard subject. PERIOD!! The exams are ruff but I think she really tries with her students. Plus she gives no homework or quizes; & she give plenty of tutoring & extra credit.

It's a hard subject but she really tries to help you out as much as possible. Just go to class and take notes and you'll be fine. You have absolutely NO USE for the book. Don't bother buying it. She has a bit of an annoying voice, but you get used to it.

Make two high A's on her first tests, bomb the third, and then smack down the final. Her dog's name is Capers by the way. Not incredibly easy but not my worst class thus far. Wait until she talks about the reproductive system, hottest two class days.

One of the best teachers at UNCC. She knows her stuff and if you have any questions go talk to her. Her tests are very difficult and maybe she should teach higher level biology courses. Gives you a chance to substitude your lowest test with final.

I tried so hard in her class and still barely made a D! She DOES try to help, but I think there is just too much info on the tests and she is way too picky about the answers. I failed the first 2 tests and barely passed the third, but the final was easy.

Well, she's hot in a weird way. Extremely too much info. in her lectures. She's very smart, can answer any ?? you can conjure up. If you take her, be prepared to study a little bit everyday to get a b.

AWESOME TEACHER...in a 200 person class she still managed to make it feel like a 20 person class. very clear and very helpful...she offeres hereself for help regularly and even made an aim sn the night before the test if we had questions! TAKE HER CLASS!

Good teacher in the lectures, tests challenging..only 4 exams which is your class grade..doesnt take attendace but if you miss a class you will miss alot of info and will not to so good on the exams, her exams are based on class lecture, not the book.

J. Warner is pretty cool as a professor, although I think she secretly hates UNCC as a school. she cares a lot, and knows we are paying a lot to learn; she does what she's paid to do, perhaps more...she wears a lot of black and white. interesting lady.

Warner is a great teacher! I didn't need BIOL 115, I just took it because she made BIOL 1110 so interesting! She explains everything so clearly, and in organized notes. I learned a lot in her class, and would take more classes by her. Made a 100 on first test, 93 on 2nd. Pretty easy, if you study.

Easy class, all you have to do is show up for class and go to SI. Fun class, you learn alot of interesting things.

Warner is awesome! If you can't handle her class it's because you don't know how to study and shouldn't be in college. It takes some work but she practically spoon feeds us everything we need to know. I never even really liked biology until I took this class.

Warner is the best! I have taken this very hard course twice before w/o passing, while passing the lab the first time with a B. She relates everything to real life and makes it easy to understand. A lot of work but test questions come mostly from practice quizzes. Take her if you want to pass biol!!

First of all, she is very pretty! Coursepack she gives is great and simple. Take her for bio lab too. Straight to the point. Cares about students grades. Runs great study sessions. You would think she would be a professional swimmer or runner with her body.

My favorite teacher by far! Very willing to help if you need it, tries her best to explain all the difficult topics. Be sure to study before tests, they're not going to be easy without studying. Go to SI review session if at all possible, it really does help.

One of the best I have ever had. I can't say enough good about her. I took Bio 1115 just because she was teaching it. Gives so much extra help there is no reason not to pass the class. You do have to study but it isn't bad studying. TAKE HER...she's awesome

Mrs. Warner is really good at what she does. The test does require a lot of studying but as long as you study the notes that you get in class then you will get an A. She gives you an outline and writes what you need to know on the overhead.

Best Teach I Have Ever Had At Any Institution At Any level! Absolutely the best at UNCC. Re writes notes with you to better explain them, and explains them very well. Can answer any question u have. Tests can be difficult but if u come to class and take notes, do the practice quizzez online, you should get A! Even des a review on AIM. and shes hot!

She is an awesome professor. I hated biology and still do, but she does everything she can to make sure that you understand the material. She has an AIM, SI sessions, extra credit and allows you to email with questions. If you have to take bio, take her!

Mrs. Warner is a very good teacher. She isn't the most approachable woman and she always seems like she is in a hurry...but her teaching style is great. Expect to stay in class EVERY MINUTE though, she never lets you out early. I actually hated sciency until i took this class, and now I switched my major to biology. I would recommend her to anyone!

With all of the good reviews out there, I had to leave my own. Granted, her class isn't that difficult and her notes are very easy to follow, but her tests are hard! Don't take this class at 8am, whatever you do. If you skip this class you are basically screwed, so if you plan on not skipping any classes then you should do okay.

The coursepack makes note-taking really easy and the tests aren't difficult at all; all test material comes out of the notes. The book isn't necessary. Just study. You're in college.

Jennifer Warner is THE best professor I have had thus far in college. Her class is very interesting and she actually applies the theories to real life issues such as public health, dieting, etc. She is very clear. GO TO CLASS. Memorize the notes, do the study guides, take the practice exams. You will get an A. She is amazing!!

I just finished her summer class. Very intense. BUT if you study each night, don't slack off you'll do fine. Keep up with the online quizzes. Many test questions come from this, study the lecture manual, and do the study questions. You'll never have to open your text! You'll do great!!! Best teacher to meet your science goal with!

Ok she is not all that bad but unless you are used to taking application type tests then don't take her. If you don't know what an application test is then don't take her. I'm used to learning info and spewing it back out. However she did make the material easy to learn. Be nice to have more extra credit than attending 10 weeks of SI or project

Prof. Warner is really great at what she does. She is more than generous with extra credit. If you show up to class you will pass. If you miss class you miss a lot of material. She has a website with practice quizes (many test ?'s come from here) Also from the questions at the back of the text. Do them and I can promise an EASY A!!!

She is a great teacher.... take her! She explains things well and writes the notes out for you. If you go to class, write down everything she does, and study regularly you will get an A....period. Also, a lot of the test questions come from her online quizes. Just please don't wait til the last minute to study or you will hate your life.

Great teacher, and she really cares about her students. The notes are guided, and the text isn't necessary. There are 2 extra credit opportunities. The material is kind of tough, but she is crystal clear on what she expects you to know for the tests.

She's a REALLY good teacher. She explains everything well and gives alot of extra credit opportunities. She allows you to have a 3x5 card for the final. Has review sessions before every test. The study guides have questions from the test on them. So do the online quizzes. It's really easy to make an A in this class.

Dr. Warner picked up a 4000 level biology course on almost no notice and turned it into a really positive experience in the middle of a truly difficult time. That alone speaks volumes. She is perhaps the hardest working professor that I have ever had and is prompt about everything. Tests were not unreasonable. Just study... studystudystudy.

Dr. Warner is an amazing professor. She is very helpful and really, reallllly want to help her students...I took the class (which is considered to an extremely difficult class) over the summer and made A not nec bc the class was easy but bc she was a really gooooooodddd prof. Dr. Warner is an AMAZING professor--she is extremely helpful and it is obvious that she cares about her students. I wouldn't suggest taking her for 1115 if you haven't taken 1100 with her, though, because her tests take some getting used to. She also has fabulous style (e.g. Christian Louboutin shoes!)

Here is the scoop: go to class! Her explanations are perfect. She caters to all types of learners. If she says it's important, you will be tested on the material. Go to her review sessions, her tests are not easy but if you do as she says and use the tools she gives you you will get an A. She's no warm and fuzzy but that's not her job.

I honestly love her. she's very polite and clear. she will take the time to answer your questions and make it interactive with the class. For the person who said she's an ice princess, that's completely false. you have to STUDY to pass and the textbook is required. there's a quiz just about every week but its open book and online.don't question it!

Dr. Warner is nice and cares for her students. The class was pretty difficult and you have to study a lot to do well on tests. The final exam was easier than all the other exams. She provides a lecture outline so you don't have to write so much which is nice. She gives a lot of resources to study for tests You have homework almost every week online

I loved this class so much. She really puts effort into making the class interesting and fun. I never loved microbiology before. I highly recommend Prof Warner because you actually feel like you are learning. The way that she explains the material awesome and the canvas page is just so fun to look at it actually makes you want to go to school lol

This class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Assignments were due every Sunday, with weekly reading quizzes. Honestly, both were time consuming so I don't recommend doing it last minute. Exams were based on her powerpoint/lectures so I would study those. There are 7 mini-exams with 20 questions each and no final. Warner is also super nice!!

Very kind person and I liked her lectures. Over the summer, it was a very intense course. I like how she relates microbio topics to the modern world such as the COVID pandemic, microbiota diversity, and more. I would definitely take her again! Study the PPTs and take good notes. She asks a lot of "Which of these is false" questions so be careful.

Dr. Warner is great! The lectures are really interesting and she really cares about educating us and expanding our learning. I really enjoyed the content in this class. Test are easy if you study a bit and keep up with the weekly homeworks. It's a great course taught by a great professor. 10/10 would recommend.

I took microbiology online with her. The class was amazing. Had to listen to a couple of hours of lectures a week and take notes but that was pretty much it. Tests are not that hard and they are open note. Love her, I learned so much from this class. Would take again.

I took this class online and her canvas is very organized and pretty. She has a lot of resources for her students to study. Each week follows a similar format and there are many things to balance out your grade. No projects or final exam. Love this class!

Very good professor and made the class very easy to take as an online course. Take notes during the videos and go over them after each video! Tests are open note, but you shouldn't relly on just going back to the notes during the tests. Tests are timed to ensure sure you have knowledge of the material and you're not just looking back in the notes.

Very organized canvas page. Exams were open note but timed so make sure to pay attention to lecture videos. The lecture load seemed very intense at the start but overtime you'll find your flow to make it more doable. The only complaint is the weekly assignments. They were mostly unhelpful with regards to course material and grading was inconsistent
