Gives almost NO full examples, confusing, makes easy course seem hard..

He doesn't clearly tell you what to do and he insults the students mostly
Teaches well if he is in the mood. Doesn't put up with crap from the students. Helps remind students of concepts they may have forgotten. Doesn't like to answer questions, would rather tell the student to go home and figure it out!
He doesn't give partial marks on finals and teaches completely from the book. Dropped from an A+ to a B in one class and a B- in another and I knew what I was doing on the finals.
I like him. He's reasonable, and wants the students to learn something. He may not give you the answers but I find the guy fair.
I'm an A+ student and he's the worst prof i've had so far. Reads the book to you. If you ask questions, refers you to the library. Gives lectures on the meaning and importance of education but doesn't provide you any. Got an A+ but had to try EXTRA hard.
Abusive and a little lazy. Reasonably competent. I don't think he was very hard (375 shouldn't be easy). Test & exam questions were much easier than in the book. Most other profs who teach 375 are better, take it with them if possible.
He only leaves examples unfinished when all that is left to them is trivial calculation. When you ask him a question, he'll often put it in a rectangle, and say it's for us to figure out. He's a nice guy though. Too many lectures on "life" thoug
I was warned about this guy going in, but I really didn't think the warning was warrented. He takes a lot of class time to tell you why you shouldn't be late, or shouldn't be talking, or whatever, but he gives you a lot of class time off because he leaves
nice to look at
This guy sucks! He just copies the text on to the board. And if you ask a question he puts a rectangle around which means you have to find the answer yourself, he won't tell you!
Change to Dube. His entire lesson is right out of the textbook and never finishes his examples. I don't even think he looked at the final exam let alone wrote it! ______ |_____|
His final exam was evil! There was stuff on it that he never spent time teaching. Plus he loves to put examples he doesn't feel like finishing in "rectangles" for u to do.
Rectangles were a retarded idea!
'very easy' my ass, hardest exam ever
Switch to Dube, your better off
Those box ideas are terrible when you don't understand the subject material at first or otherwise stand unclear. Considering when asking afterclass for clarity he offered little to none.
Clear and goes directly to the point because he doesn't spend time re-explaining what was taking in high school .. good for good students and bad for lazy ones
He was a good prof. The rectangle idea is to make you look for the answer your self, so that you remember it better. His course was still less rigorous than an Ottawa U math course.
If Wayne Archer, the chem lab supervisor, was a Hitler reincarnate, this guy is Joseph Stalin. He doesn't care to teach: he comes late if he comes at all, and when he is there, he puts a rectangle around fundamental issues and tells you to learn it yourself at home. He should be fired on a Monday!
He makes the subject interesting, very funny and quite easy. He is sometimes hard to understand, but an excellent professor.
Great
Terrible teacher, tests are easy though. Always snaps at the class and any political event in iraq sets him off.
this is from karwan
Jabir Adulrahman is a very professional and straightfoward professor. The material imparted is somewhat difficult, but Mr. Abulrahman is always interested in taking questions and scheduling extra office hours. Great, intelligent and helpful professor. 4.4/5
Don't bother coming to class his class notes are literally taken right out of the textbook. He has a pretty strong accent too, I think hes from palestine or something so he gets super emotional when you ask him about world events. His tests were tough but fair and he avoids answering questions especially on what could be on the next test or exam
go to class. Do assigned problems. Easiest A+ I've ever gotten.
Great prof. Really dedicated to passing his knowledge. Hard course.
Do whatever he says, his comments on the material which is beeing presented is extremely crucial to understand; go to every single freakin' class and you are garanteed to get A or higher; tough course though! he's studied in UK, awesome Prof. with a lot of knowledge. very kind indeed. again! don't miss a class cuz you'll fail. love him:)
Incredibly professional, awesome.....5/5
AMAZING TEACHER!! Cares about his students. extremely helpful. awesome guy.
An abrasive, unlikeable guy, but gave 10% for attendance. The lectures/assignments give no indication about the level of difficulty of the tests/final (one test was super easy, another impossibly tough). Stay away.
Adequate, not fantastic. Go to class, but expect to copy notes directly from the board. The textbook really isn't necessary if you have good notes and go to tutorials, but make sure you do the problems assigned to get a good grade. Not the most approachable when it comes to questions.
He was very passionate about the class. He would stop and call out students who were disrupting the class. Over all though he was a good prof who made the material clear. I took this class at another university and failed. He made it very very easy and I through the class without a flaw. I recommend him for this class.
I got 100% for all tests, but the final was soooo different and hard that I got a freaggin B-. He's helpful in his office, TA's are fuked up, and test's level of difficulty caries from one to another. Would never ever take a class with him. EVER!
Very nice guy! Extremely helpful, and tries to help you as much as he can!
This prof is the best one in the math department, I wish I can have any other course with him...
Probably the best prof I've had in university so far, or at least the best math prof. His classes are very well organized, and he conveys the topics to the audience in a very effective manner. He makes sure everyone is attentive and there are no disruptions. He also had some fun stories to tell sometimes that helped make the time in class better.
Tough final. Entered the final exam with an A+ Finished with a B overall.
The best of the best...!
He taught fairly well, although I found the Tests were easy, but the final was hard. I went in with an A and came out with a B, although that's because I underestimated how difficult the final would be, and didn't study very hard, but that's more my problem. He did teach the course well though, but could get a bit boring.
he is awesome
He's been teaching nearly word-for-word from a textbook written by another professor at Carleton (Prof. Melkonian). He does mention some things from time-to-time that improve comprehension, but aside from that there's no point in going to lectures. My main perk with him is that he's too lazy to actually make his own notes.
Hard omg hard
Very passionate professor. Exam was difficult relative to the tests, so study ALL of the chapters in the textbook! However, I asked, and it was not written by him (written by the math department) so he can't be fully blamed. The rectangle questions helped a lot, if you did them. You're in school to learn, so doing your own work should be expected.
Fun guy to have, liked his boxes
NOT A FAN. sometimes hard to understand, and he has no idea how to explain concepts. if you already understand calculus you should be fine, but if this is your first time taking it.. AVOID HIM
I don't know why others comment badly on the professor, He is a passionate professor, One good advice take him, and if your struggling go see him. Math isn't about smarts its about hard work
Agree with the other comments. If you haven't taken calculus before, this could be tricky. He's hard to understand, doesn't go out of his way to make things clear. You may need to go to his office hours, get help from TA's and friends, etc.
I had Jabir for Linear Algebra last semester, I found him to be a great prof. A bit hard to understand at first, but once you get used to his style of teaching you're fine. The notes he writes on the board are awesome, I never had to refer to the textbook, expect for practice problems.
He writes a textbook chapter as his notes. They are perfect. He moves fast and does exactly what his job is. He makes sure that you are responsible for practicing the procedures, but rewards you for it. He tells you exactly which questions to do. If you do them you will surely get an A+.
avg. Prof
This Prof was very bad at explaining things. i went to every lecture but i would not understand anything. i would have been better off studying by myself instead of attending lectures. i did end up getting a good mark but with no thanks to him(i used khan academy). however this is the only uni math prof i have had. i have nothing to compare him to.
I never knew calculus could be so easy! Go to his class, he will give you all the questions you need to study for the test (and you get to crack up at him chewing out the kids falling asleep). Much more clear than other math profs @ Carleton. I wish I had him for 1007, too.
I didn't go to class most of the time. You need to have been reading the book ahead to keep up. That said, he's a cool guy, and I like his style of teaching. He is also a surprisingly funny guy, the kind of guy thats a serious prof but kinda of ironically funny. Fun drinking game: take a sip everytime he asks "any questions? Is everything clear?"
He writes a LOT of notes... it can be very difficult to keep up with him. I had a hard time in the class but only because I didn't do any practice problems
awesome prof!! Forces you to pay attention and will call you out for dozing off, texting or talking. More than willing to help students and a very nice prof. Notes were incredibly self explanatory. keep up with the homework and you will do fine. Easy tests, harder exam
Unless you are a genius in math, and you love getting hard tests, AVOID!
Best math teacher I've ever had. If you find his class difficult then something is wrong.. I almost failed calc 1 and passed calc 2 with him with flying colours
Amazing prof,,,knows what to do! but he is a jerk sometimes! but not really mean to the students! I would recommend him for all math courses! one thing I like about the class that it is soooooo quite! no body can talk there hhhhh! it is the most quite class Ive ever had hhhhh!
If you ask a question that he does not know the answer to, he just talks until you get confused and say OK, also he pronounces terms incorrectly and refuses to admit he pronounces them wrong.
Very straightforward professor. Unique sense of humor. Interesting stories. Had him for 1104 & 3705. Easy A's with regular attendance and test preparation.
He is a great professor, very clear and organized, and knows what he is doing.
A little bit of a character, but all around a clear concise teacher.
"back row can you see this? can you hear me?" haha best prof out there! amazing teaching style and very clear. dont ever text infront of him or talk! easy A! recommended !
Best prof ever! Highly recommend him! Just attend all of his classes and do some textbook problems...
He's very good prof. He has the Arabic teaching style, which means nobody talks in the class or not paying full attention to the bored. He makes the material easy and we were well prepared for the 4-mini-tests and the final exam. I really recommend him for you.
Nice helpful teacher. Strict about using cellphones or laptops in class. I found the tests to be hard. Exam was very similar to the tests done during the semester. Ended up with D- in that class. Possibly due to my laziness.
Very good prof. Quite entertaining when he yells at other students. He really keeps you engaged in other wise very boring content.
Excellent professor with wide knowledge. I like to take courses under him. The class is also disciplined so there is minimal distraction which I like.
The best professors for Math at Carleton. I really encourage you pick him for all your math classes during your studies at CU (as am I). He explains EVERYTHING so well, and when you ask a question he clarifies it in the best way possible. His tests are SO fair unlike other math professors, and they are based on what you actually LEARN in class.
Brilliant professor! Haters can hate! He explains the material well with some humour on the side!
He's very nice and make's his best effort to teach you. Don't fool around in class though, he's pretty serious for your own good. His tests are easy and well laid out, his lessons are a perfect combination of examples and theories. Amazing prof.
10/10 hes too gud for dis course. Needs a medal. My hoya goes cray cray for his heimerdinger
Awesome prof! Gives tons of examples so that you really understand. You should still do textbook problems so that you fully grasp the material! Overall, pretty easy class and he makes it enjoyable. Especially funny when he yells at people for texting! Dont use your phone or you will get in trouble, and possibly kicked out of the class. Very amusing
HE'S SO FUNNY. I love how he repeats his stories every year. You would never use your phone or talk in class, you would absorb so much information. Math hero/legend for Engineering <3
Such a good prof! The class is pretty easy. His notes are mostly examples which is helpful! Still do problems from the textbook just to make sure you grasp everything. And never use your cell phone in this class unless you want to be yelled at and have his 5 minute lecture about why cell phones are bad. Overall, really good prof and funny!
Jabir is awesome, he cares about his students, his tests are straightforward, (he won't troll you) The no tech thing is fine, you will get over it shortly, and he decided to boost everyone's mark at the end of sem by messing around with the weights of each test. My exam was worth 100% and I aced the class. Much love man
Great prof. Sharp wit. Pay attention, follow along with the textbook and this course is easy.
One of my all time favourite professors
Loved his class! He is very entertaining and knows how to control a class and teach the material very well. I recommend writing everything down and studying them. The material itself is pretty easy but he makes the class so much better! He is not a tough grader and gives u chances to do well in the course. CHOSE HIM
Great Prof. Just don't use your phone and you should be good. Listen to his lectures and take notes as well tests are a piece of cake if you practice a little bit.
Great Prof! He teaches really great and I understand everything from him. He is very helpful and nobody sleeps in his class because he doesn't make the topic boring...
He focuses on fundamentals. If you attend lectures, you will definitely succeed. Very good professor.
Buy his book and do the recommended questions from the syllabus. His tests were not more difficult than what I encountered in the homework. He just transcribes the textbook chapter lesson onto to the board, down to the examples. Therefore it's not mandatory to attend his lectures.
teaches from the textbook so it helps you follow along with examples
Jabir is great, seems tough at first but he means well he really wants the best for his students. I went into this class as a weak math student and came out with so much knowledge and appreciation for math. Just go to the lectures and purchase HIS textbook, questions on tests are right out of the textbook.
Very nice personality. You just need to follow his instructions and you will do great. Try to go to his office hours if you need help.
He is a good prof. He cares about your learning. Just work hard and do not play on your phone and computer.
One of the best profs ever. Focusses on everything!
I have taken Jabir 3 times, what an amazing professor. Do whatever you can to switch into his classes. Compared to other math profs, he is a gift.
Jabir is a great prof, he really cares about his students. Reading the textbook is highly recommended, it's easy to read and isn't complete gibberish. Anybody can get a good mark in this class if they put some effort in. Bring a notebook to class, Jabir is very old-fashioned, you'll see what I mean.
Jabir is a very good prof. He is very strict with cellphone use. He is a kind person and is willing to help you succeed. In addition, he showed us integrals. Occasionally he rants about pointless things that nobody really cares about.
He'll seem intimidating at first, but you realize he only wants the best out of his students. His lectures are proof-heavy so if that's not your thing it's worth considering. Nice guy and solid prof. As with any engineering math course at carleton you can do well by trying any tiny amount
Jabir can be really stern and come across as rude but he is a brilliant prof. His lectures are extremely easy to follow and excellent at going over theories and concepts. His tests are pretty straight forward, and same for the final. He will never throw in any "trick" questions or questions you have never seen before. He is one of the best profs.
Best lectures you will ever attend. You will never leave the class without having understood the material. The textbook is very good, affordable and is also written by himself. Simple exams.
I don't even know what to say, I have been a math person, have done extremely well in other math courses but this course has to be the hardest thing I've ever done. For starters, he doesn't make his own lectures, he uses the lectures from another prof and honestly I spent 6 hours today trying to figure out 3 questions from an assignment.
Maybe he was good in person, but online has been horrible. He used slides from other profs and the lecs are just him reading off the slides with no new info added. He didn't post lecs for topics that were covered in tutorials and assignments, so you had to learn it by yourself. And each question is one mark/no part marks(????)
Easily the most mismanaged mathematics course I've ever taken. Gross negligence during the tests and exam periods. Exam website crashed several times and students were not given any time to make up for it. Never answered emails, practically zero communication. Lazy, confusing lectures, learned more from lectures found on YouTube.
A disgustingly lazy prof. Lectures were garbage. Webwork is a terrible platform that should not be used. You end up just teaching yourself everything because the profs suck. Terrible at answering emails or accomodating students. Exam was a disaster which was barely about math. Inna and him should be ashamed of how terribly this course was run.
"How difficult was this professor?" Hmmm I wouldn't know, he didn't even use his own lectures. It is made very clear that if students plagiarize their work they get expelled, but somehow this prof gets paid for it?? Webwork was crashing for the first hour of our exam and no one really seems to care. Neglect, kind of a recuring theme all semester.
The workload was not too difficult, but he uses another instructors videos were are basically the notes doc he posted written out. The exam was a dumpster fire with the website crashing. The exam was open book and referred to the notes provided, but the exam questions didn't match up with the notes. Overall, this course was a waste of money.
Reuses lectures from some other professor, almost zero communication all semester. This was all topped by a disastrous exam. The lecture notes didn't even match up with the ones the exam referred to, the website crashed several times, and the instructors gave false instructions. To top it off, the prof ended up leaking student information!
The worst online class I've ever had. You might as well state Khan Academy as your professor for this course. Lectures were just awful at explaining, Webwork was frustratingly unintuitive to use, and the readings were quite confusing at times. This course proved to me once-and-for-all that mathematics courses should never be done online. Ever.
He wasn't anything crazy, the textbook was useful and he took most of his material from it. His tests and the exam were fair and nothing we hadn't seen before. He got extremely angry if people walked into class late (it was an 8:30 am and bussing to school in the morning sucks in the winter). If you were going to be late you just didn't go to class
