Excellent teacher, very clear, helpful, and knowledgable about statistics.
She explains things well, and is a good teacher. But she is annoying because she calls on people every class period, to answer questions. If you actually go to class you should do very well in this course.
she is very bad in explainig the subject and she has a kind of discremination against some people from different religiouns or region.
This lady is a pretty good stats teacher, especially when you consider the altenratives available. She can be very moody though, so watch out. Also, she WILL call on you so be prepared. All in all, not bad- gives lots of partial credit on exams.
Very easy class if you have any upper level math experience(above advanced algebra.) Her only problems are that she can be moody to the students and will lose students easily due to her mistakes with answers to problems.
clear and helpful. she made stats easy to go to at 9 in the morning.
she is very helful..and explains things well...but she do call on people...overall she is good prof.
GOOD TEACHER BUT DON'T ASK A STUPID QUESTION OR SHE'LL BITE YOUR HEAD OFF. THE EXAMS ARE EASY IF YOU STUDY AND COME TO THE REVIEW.
Very helpful to students. Explains things very clearly.
treats students like third graders
she can be very moody and very ****y. she makes alot of mistakes and doesnt try very hard to help her students. the only class I ever got a D in.
teaches different material then test and very moody and plain and simple not a pleasant lady.
Great teacher. Is very far on her tests. As long as you go to class you know what to expect!
She is kind of moody, but not the worst lecturer. Her tests are multiple choice and cover mostly what is covered in class. Takes attendance. Go to the classes and review and you will be fine.
She takes the test questions directly from the quizes. Her lectures are kinda dull, talks about her family alot, which isn't interesting. She's kinda moody too. Treats you like a high school student. But she's really nice.
She is such a great teacher. she is incredibly helpful, and she is only moody when people act ignorantly in her class. anyone would be upset when people are talking over them. she gives you respect and she expects the same back from you. test are incredibly easy, she gives everyone a study sheet. Its only the people who don't read it that fail!!!!!
Professor Flom tried to be fun, and I give her credit for that, but her lectures were BORING. The only part of her class I liked was her easy tests. I didn't study for 1 of them and didn't fail any of them.
She was fun as long as you payed attention and was respectful of her she also did not give out many hard assignments
Good teacher, easy tests as long as you study, lectures are generally good and wants class participation but sometimes can get a little boring
I have had prof flom for two classes, intro to business and consumer behavior, and i will be taking her for my senior policy forum. She is an awesome teacher and she will teach you alot, if you ever have questions she will always answer them.
I had her for intro and stats and i will take her again if she teaches any other classes i need. she is really helpful and always open to helping others. Her tests arent hard and her review sheets are straight forward to what is going to be on the test. take her if you get the opportunity!!
Good stats teacher. Test fairly easy. Not much homework. Final Exam was tough.
Avoid this sad excuse for a teacher. Unbelievably unhelpful. She would get pissy when students asked questions. Would often change the subject to avoid answering questions because she is unqualified for her job.
An easy class but get ready to learn nothing. I know more than she does in stats just from my high school course. Our first test she didn't have enough tests for everyone. Next I found a question that didn't even have the correct answer as a choice to pick. She knows nothing about stats period but will act like she knows everything.
This woman is a terrible professor. When students asked questions to clarify information she would blab about something irrelevant. I honestly cannot believe she is still allowed to teach, anywhere.
Appeared to be irritated when students asked questions. Treats students like jr. high students. She would be better off teaching elementary school. If you can avoid her, you should. I was forced to due to scheduling conflicts.
She has no clue what she's talking about and hates when kids ask questions. I wondered why she did until I realized it was because she didn't know the answers! Does the book given PPT and skips through over half the slides then tests on what she's never told us...
I wanted to like Prof. Flom but was turned off by her teaching style. Lectures consist of her opinions disguised as fact. She is easily annoyed in class, but is a completely different person in office hours, kind and helpful! The class should be an easy A, but if taking it with Prof. Flom expect hard quizzes and to be confused about Capsim.
Incredibly unknowledgeable about her subject area. Scary really that she got to this level. I guess it's clear why she always gets so annoyed when someone asks a question. She can't answer it. Don't expect her to help you with the simulation no matter what she says. She doesn't know anything about it. She's rude and annoying.
Took her for the last senior level class in the Summer, she was pretty nice and wasn't too difficult.
She gives a ton of work compared to other professors teaching the same course, seems to be offended by any form of criticism and discourages students from asking questions. I would not recommend this professor.
This lady is nuts! She gets SO pissed when someone asks a question. Its like she immediately gets defensive. Exams are ridiculous. She goes over powerpoints (skipping 90% of the slides) then gives quizzes/exams over the material never discussed. Bad teaching style all around. Felt like she lectured on her opinion and not facts.
Not too bad of professor gives some extra credit, pretty easy class for buad 1010
She is very nice, but she goes through the lectures a bit too fast.
if this class was only over lecture & class work and actual business terms and lesson it would have been amazing and i would have got an A but she has this business simulation program called Capsim that i did horrible on. didn't learn anything from capsim and i know it will ruin my grade. avoid this prof
She is rude
the class was fairly easy. I never read the chapters, but always got A's on the test. She does this Capsim Simulation, and it's terrible. Pretty easy class, but she can have a very rudebad attitude when you ask questions. Not a lot of outside work required and it's a fairly easy class if you show up and do the assignments.
The class is easy the simulation is hard and she isnt a great help with the simulation! since the final is the simulation please get help if you dont want to fail!!! I have to take this class over beause of the simulation
I really enjoyed Professor Flom's intro to business class. The simulation was very difficult, however your performance was not graded. Only if you were able to complete it on time and you got full credit. Her class was very interesting and pretty much an easy A.
Overall a good teacher and her class is fairly easy
What has been said about her being defensive about questions is slightly true, but it usually happens to students who don't listen. Capsim is a large part of your grade, its not tough and she'll help you with it. Pop quizzes aren't really a surprise and this has probably been my easiest class yet.
The class itself is pretty easy once you get the hang of capsim. However, when you ask questions in class you get your head blown off., she'll usually tell you to go look at the syllabus.
I honestly don't understand how she's a professor. She seems like a stay at home mom who just does this whole teaching thing as a hobby. She treats the class like 5 year olds and she can be very rude about questions. I will say though that the class was an easy A as long as you show up and get the hang of the simulation.
The professor is very nice and says hello as she enters classroom. The classroom seems to be a bit difficult to accomplish because you will expect to do alot of homework, as well as studying for quizzes as well. You will have to do the MyBiz lab and Capsim as homework, and quizzes can either be announced or unnannounced. Skips some lecture slides.
She gives pop quizzes, but usually drops a hint that she is going to give one soon. If you want to know your grade you have to go to her office hours. She doesn't really help you very much so you are on your own learning a business simulation that is difficult to understand. If you know what you are doing you will pass with a good grade.
The pop quizzes she gives aren't really a surprise because she tells you when they are. The Capsim simulation isn't as bad as people say it is, because your'e not really graded on how you do. Just finish the hw and Capsim on time and you'll get a good grade. The teacher is very condescending and gets flustered when someone asks a question.
the class was easy enough. she doesn't post grades all semester, but she's willing to tell you how you're doing. she expects you to read and takes attendance, but they're not mandatory. she gives "pop quizzes" but typically warns you in the class beforehand. lectures can be boring, but she shows videos often.
Very nice and understanding teacher. She helps you understand Capsim. Very approachable. Attendance is pretty much mandatory
Like everyone said in pervious posts, she does respond to questions rudely a lot of the time. Capsim is easy to understand as long as you try to understand it. I learned a lot from her and I would reccomend her. Easy A if you put in the work she asks for.
overall great. teacher. she is always prepared for her lectures and goes out of her way to help students. gives "pop quizzes" but she gives you a warning. funny.
Flom is very passionate about business. I really enjoyed her personality and the lectures felt more like an open discussion than lecture-y. She is a bit sassy when answering questions. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIMULATION. It's important to go to class. There was no cumulative final, just 3 quizzes throughout the semester, online hw was simple.
I really enjoyed this class. Pretty easy for the most part. Lectures can be boring, but she really tries hard to make things easily understood. She's a good choice for a professor, however, it's intimidating to ask questions in her class.
She's kind of scary. She kind of makes you feel inferior for asking questions because "you should have read the chapter" but she wasn't awful. I ended up liking her. I think she could really have organized her class differently, but it was alright. Just make sure you speak up and read the chapters if you take her class. Also beware of hw due @ noon
Online assignments are part of participation points and are very easy, they will boost up your grade as well as attendance so make sure you complete them & show up to class. There are "pop" quizzes that she lets you know when they are which are 25 points but pretty easy. The simulation is very hard but are for completion points as long as you try
So with Professor Flom she is a helpful and funny teacher. For this class I thought she did quizzes like once a month it seemed like well there was a simulation and as long as your working and understanding the practice simulation you should be fine. It was pretty easy for me. I liked her
the class was fairly easy. I never read the chapters, but passed most test. The Capsim Simulation is trash & terrible. It is a waste of time. The class is easy if you show up and turn in the online assignment on time. She is rude when you ask questions & doesn't communicate well. I never took notes showed up to every class to sign in - got an A+
The class us easy but she is extremely temperamental.
Professor Flomm had a bad habit of making students feel stupid when questions were asked. She would stop her lecture, huff, and answer like the answer was the most obvious thing in the world. Coming to class would be completely unnecessary if she didn't take attendance. The quizzes are laughably easy, and the homework is a no-brainer, if tedious.
This professor has a great attitude and is always willing to help you out.
She is a very caring, sweet women, but I feel like she picks favorites. If you are on her good side then she is an awesome professor. If you are on her bad side or don't participate a lot then she may make you feel stupid while answering a question. I personally loved her. Easy A as well!
She is nice enough, until you're bold enough to ask questions, her claws come out. I do like the fact that she encouraged us to read the Wall Street Journal. But other than that, the simulation was just dumb, no one understood it. It literally did not make sense and if you asked she would just tell you to tutorial and re-watch/read it again.
class can get boring but she is a nice teacher. you have average three assignments to finish by end of each week. going to class matters. I didnt go often and still ended with a good grade but it really helps to go if you can. the simulation SUCKS. it is the final as well so it was nerve wracking. didnt learn enough from the sim to be worth it.
The class itself is very easy to get an A in. You have to come to class because she does take attendance. There are pop quizzes but she gives warning. The tests are easy. The simulation is stupid. The only complaint about her is if you ask a question or dont understand something, she makes you feel stupid.
She had great ideas but for a communications class, I feel like she didn't communicate her expectations well enough... And then she would be upset when the class didn't know what was going on. She also showed her frustration a lot, especially with specific people. You have to be in every class & interact all the time with classmates.
She expects adults in her class, and if you don't want to be mature and participate in the class it's not the class for you. I put in average effort, I showed up followed along with the power points and answered questions I thought I knew the answer to. I enjoyed her class enough to take another class with her next semester.
Rude and condescending. I've never had a professor like this in my five years of college. If you don't know something, she makes you feel like a complete idiot. Gets frustrated easily, and isn't very professional about hiding that. She expects "adults" in her class, but can hardly act like one herself. Acts like it is a chore for her to show up.
Professor Flom is not a tough professor at all. As long as you show up to class and do the work that she assigns, you will do well in her class.
Prof. Flom makes the class relatively easy, but is rude overall. She gets frustrated very easily and takes it out on students. From personal experience, I opposed her answer on a worksheet and the class agreed with me. Instead of creating a discussion, she angrily ignored me and moved on. Childish occurrences like this are a daily event with her.
I took Professor Floms online course and it is so unorganized, she provides a weekly agenda every Monday but fails to put the correct things on the agenda, I am constantly having to look at the syllabus for the actual assignments due for the week. Also if you have to email her about a question you have she is very short with you and not specific.
Very nice, answers any questions you may have, and shes not a tough grader. Im not a big fan of the simulations(I did terrible) but she doesnt grade them on how you do, only on if you did it. As long as you do the work you should get a good grade. She also accepts late work for half credit. Any questions you may have, she is open and helps you.
Very enthusiastic and really goes in depth in communication classes. Helps overall speaking and writing tremendously!
The class overall is very easy, there a lot of presentations, quizzes and one test but they are very easy to do. Professor Flom can be rude sometimes, making you feel like an idiot. She's very complicated but the class is not hard at all.
Flom's class is easy if you do the work on time and present. There is barely homework to do, but you need to stay on her good side because she is moody. The presentation topics are dumb, but she grades easy. Her class is interactive with other students, and she randomly calls on students. She is not a bad teacher to take!
Great teacher, she expects you to do your part and if you do you will do well. If you cannot pass her class it speaks more about you as a student then anything.
Great professor! She makes sure to not read straight from the slides when lecturing and she shows videos to relate the material to real world situations. She does take attendance every class and you do have to present at least once during the semester about a Wall Street Journal reading. Very enthusiastic. Exams are a little tough.
She's a person who wouldn't believe that a person can have prior knowledge of the subject she teaches. In my case it was Capsim. She's rude. I was given an A because I didn't complete the practice quiz. If I already know something and have been acing in group and individuals tests why would I take the practice quiz ever? Avoid her. She's insolent.
Very rude, disrespectful, and condescending to students. Has a god complex and believes she is better compared to everyone around her.
take her :)) she actually cares about what she teaches as well as her students. it's super engaging. you have to put in the work to get an A, but her exams are very conceptual and application based. If you try to just memorize the lessons, you won't do well. Actually participate in class and in discussions, and the info will stick!! Love her!!
Jackie was a good professor and she clearly tells you what is expected of this class. Capsim is another story, good luck. If you do the work, show up, and provide effort this class should be an A.
Hands down one of the best professors I have taken so far. Professor Flom gives you all the tools you will need in order to succeed in the class, you just have to put in the work. Lecture videos were helpful as she used real world examples to explain the material. You will need to buy the book in order to do homework and exams. Definitely recommend
Course is easy other than Capsim simulation that made no sense. Expressed trouble with understanding Capsim after even after getting help from a tutor. Instead of seeing giving guidance, she yelled at me for going to tutoring for help rather than her? Was also very dismissive of other students that expressed confusion. Not a great teacher.
If you do the work and put in the effort you should get a good grade in this class. Professor Flom offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. She is a very fair grader and her class wasn't too difficult. If you are a good test taker and do the extra credit you should easily pass this class.
She is a tough grader for the individual and group presentations and can be moody at times. Easy HW and other assignments but the presentations make up almost 30% of the class so getting an A can be difficult.
The beginning of the semester is based on chapters of the book (she uploads chapter videos so don't purchase the book). Everyone is required to do a WSJ presentation, its easy. The capsim simulation was the most annoying part but as long as you do it on time you receive credit. She also offers extra credit multiple times which I recommend doing.
Her class was very easy, you just sit there and listen to her talk. If you laugh at her jokes, she'll like you.
She is a tough grader and expects a lot out of you for the assignments. I struggled in the beginning but after looking at her feedback and emailing her the course was a lot easier. She offers extra credit opportunities, so you can get your grade back up. Would recommend her for this course, but take it online, it was easy in my opinion.
By far the worst/hardest professor I have ever had in my entire college career. Her tests were nothing like her study guides. I spent HOURS doing her study guides still did poorly. She talked down to me in our email conversations when I had questions. The Capstone Simulation is so time consuming and, in my opinion, did nothing for my education.
Professor Flom was interesting because as long as you show that you care and put in the work she treats you well. However, she hates when students come in late and sometimes takes that anger out on everyone. Overall, I would say that she try's her best and it's easy to do well if you put in the effort.
Tough grader, the hardest class i've ever taken through my school journey, the most unorganized teacher i've ever seen, Capsim it's useless i don't know what we can do with Capsim in real life nothing, and top of that confusing assignments due date. You won't learn anything in this class.
The Worst professor i've ever had, you won't learn nothing tough grader unorganized, different due dates weekly which is doesn't make sense. Stay away.
Rude, when you reach out she makes you feel dumb. No notes allowed on exams and they are with camera and worded very confusing. They impact your grade heavily. Would not take again!
Worst professor ever! extremely rude and grade on the most minute things. exams heavily impact your grade and our worded confusing. No notes allowed and with camera. Makes u pay for extra credit and doesnt give full points. Fire her!
Vile. do not take! critics on the most minute details and is extremely condescending. UT should get rid of her. Do not take.
Don't take with Professor Flom. Her online class consists of 2 assignments a week, and a few discussion posts. Assignments are easy, but good luck on the exams! Exams are extremely difficult, and you'll see questions you've never been taught over. Makes her class really hard to get an A for an intro class. Makes you pay for extra credit!!!
She is very hard to communicate with and will call you out if youre late to class. Just very rude in general I wouldn't recommend her
Any potential for this class to provide meaningful information is reduced by the way the professor structures it and her refusal to allow any notes on exams. The amount of content she expects you to cover week by week - including introducing new material the same week as the exam it appears on - requires you to resort to memorization.
The only resource of value is the textbook. Her lectures are pointless and provide no value. The exam questions are extremely specific, exams cover a large amount of material, and no notes. If the questions were more overview, the no notes would not be an issue. But instead they are detailed, specific, and not so much conceptual as recall of text.
The most frustrating part of this course is that the professor completely ignores the subject matter of the course that could actually be applied to the way in which she structures the class. Read the text, ignore the lectures, and get 100% on every assignment because the exams will bite you. I have never struggled with exams until this class.
Think of Regina George when she is writing in the burn book. Pretty much sums up my feelings for Jackie Flom.
I don't feel like I learned anything meaningful in this course. especially the Capsim simulation it was extremely time consuming and added no real educational value. Jackie flom very tough grader, and to be honest, this was the worst teaching experience I've had Between the grading and the lack of clear guidance. Avoid her if you want to do well.
She's upfront and blunt about her grading procedures, and CAPSIM is hard if you don't pay attention, she should start earlier but doesn't, she'll side-eye you if you walk in late to class so don't get on her bad side, she's also short-tempered but wants you to succeed, overall she's a mid professor. If you can take it with Gary Insch, he's chill.
She has high expectations for her students when it comes to being responsible. The first half of the class is focused on writing emails, leaving voicemails, etc. The second half is presentation-based. You give three presentations. If you practice the presentations, you will be good. She allows you to use notecards - don't read directly from them.
Jackie is a great professor with clear expectations for the class. She gets agitated if the class doesn't participate; save your classmates & answer her questions. The first day of the week is lecture-heavy, and the last day of the week is groupwork. A very easy class; I got a B and didn't study very hard. She makes the materials easy to remember.
