She is extremely nice and helful. She strives for her students to learn and have fun with it. She is always always a happy person, deffinatly brightens up your day.
Very helpful and the nicest lady
Great lady! Very nice and personable. Really cares about her students. Lays out the course from day one. Daily notes, and will NOT move on unless she feels that everyone is with her.
Great professor...I am learning alot and she makes it easier to handle math
Awesome teacher. Vert helpful and made sure everyone understood before we went on. Highly recommend the class.
i like her as a teacher but there are others in class who are not chatching it and she wont slow down
this is a fun class and she is a very nice teacher, i'd definitely recommend her. She is a bit disorganized and sometimes confusing, but you don't need to put in a lot of effort to get a decent grade, if you do the HOMEWORK, and just study a little which I would recommend, you should be fine.
she runs way too fast and there is too much to do. students are allowed to unfairly grade you on the project. she grades the ppt presentation way too hard. she knows her stuff though.
She was hot tempered at times, and tests were very difficult. She went way too fast in discussion because she worried more about her schedule than students' learning.
How could anyone say anything bad about Jackie! The first class kindof scared me. I thought she was a little flakey and well, maybe she is. But she knows her stuff and has cute little sayings to help you remember important things. If you need help just ask!!!!! I would definitely take a class with her again without hesitation.
This teacher expects you to know what she is talking about before she teaches it. She never has time to help if you have a question. She goes through a couple examples but expects you to be able to do all the problems based on that. I've never had problems like this in a class, and the teacher doesn't seem to care that the student does not get it.
Had her for basic math and she was wonderful, so i decided to take her again for int algebra and am struggling! she only allows us to go over 3 questions a day, and no more! needs more explaining!
i talked to her about the other team members not working at all. she said that she has another class. no time to discuss problems. if i had it all over i wouldn't give my team members anything for a grade since they did me over. i even painted a perfect picture of how they were with me to her.
LOVED THE CLASS. Extremely easy. She was very clear on everything. Great as a person and a teacher. I would DEFINATELY take her again if I was doing another math class
Worst Internet Teacher! Must email her to gain access to everything, everytime. Doesn't check her email frequently either. So even when you think your ahead - YOUR NOT! Even the online test don't let you review your work when there is time left. STAY AWAY...FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!
Worse teacher that I ever. I highly recommend that you steer away from her. She teaches fast and doesn't explain concepts well.
Class was intimidating at first. class was challenging and forces you to really pay attention and use all of your brain power while you are there but she is really nice and helpful and lets you have cheat sheets for the tests. Class is kind of fast paced but it was usually fun.
took her fastrack online college algebra. leaves no time for other hw. be prepared to stay up late. software used is a little outdated. i worked very hard in this class and did not receive the required 'C' for my major. very disappointing. will not take this prof again. she also takes at least a day to respond to emails, so its hard to work ahead.
very good instructor, always helpful, knows her math. would reccomend her to anyone
What a wonderful teacher! I took her 8-week Int Alg class and loved it. I'm very blessed to have been in her class. She's patient with examples and great at answering e-mails. She loves what she does and loves what she's teaching. I wouldn't have preferred any other teacher and would recommend her to anyone. Be prepared for a lot of work tho!
Must email her to gain access to everything, everytime. Doesn't check her email frequently either. So even when you think your ahead - YOUR NOT!You get behind b/c if your were working on something and you got locked up then she had to get you back in and that took a couple of days. Test due that day, forget it!! You cannot go further. Your stuck!
teacher very helpful -caring and prompt
Do not take Jackie's class. She really doesn't care if you are struggling with the lessons or not, she sticks to her syllibus and doesn't give a hoot whether you pass or not. It was almost as if she wanted her students to fail. I was warned not to take her but did because thats all you get at West. As a professor, she stinks!!!
this class comes down to what you already knew before ever entering the classroom. If you dont have 8 hours per week, havent done high math classes prior, arent math centric, or if you have a life outside of school then do not take this class! an absolutely daunting class, great for math wiz's bad for the remaining 90 percent of students.
ive been going to tcc for a while now. Ive taken over 52 hours worth of classes and so far this has been the only unbearable class ive taken. Teacher doesnt care about you, your problems, or wheter you succeed or not. It numbs to think that someone like this still teaches...
STAY AWAY, if you have to take this class and she is the only one teaching it go to other campus you will thank me !
I tool online in 8 weeks. Get the book to help with quickchecks. 100 pts of your grade are homework and quick checks;Total 1000 pt.You have a test everyweek you take at home. Midterm and final are taken on campus. fast pace, stay ahead or you will fall behind. She will take off points for late work. Two chapters homework, quickchecks due everyday.
work ahead. Took in 8 weeks. Use weekend to stay ahead. Strict teacher. Video lectures very helpful. TAKE NOTES! Time consuming class!
Pushes homework, as fast as possible, everyday you late on homework 10% penalized. Need about 3 hours every night to not get behind in class
Terrible teacher. She isn't even a teacher, MyMathLab does everything for her. At least 3 hours of homework a night. Quick checks and homework combined add up to about 80-100 assignments by the end of the semester!! Take anyone but her!! You'll be glad you did.
Her grading system is so flawed. It actually sets you up to fail. Do not take her. If you make one low B or C on a test, it is literally impossible to make an A in the class. This teacher is just lazy... she is not here to help.
Intro to Statistics: I really like the job that she does teaching. She genuinely likes statistics, and is a pleasant, logically-minded woman. One would be hard-pressed, I imagine, to find individuals of this quality, let alone college professors. It is easy to forget a rule or two in Stats, but she will always remind you and re-explain things.
I had Jackie for Intermediate Algebra, she was great. She was quick to answer e-mails and will stay after class to help you learn the material. Yes, there was a lot of homework, but that's how you learn the material. I would highly recommend her to anybody.
I LOVE JACKIE!GREAT TEACHER.She loves what she does.I went to her for extra help ALL the time & she was always there to help,i took her for intermediate algebra & going to her critical thinking class.AMAZING person & truly great teacher. She does it all on smart board&prints notes for u to follow along.TAKE HER!Money well worth it.Can't say enough:)
Professor Swicegood is great. I have had her for three courses now and absolutely love her classes. She is very helpful and is quick to respond to emails. There is a lot of homework, but that gives more opportunities to make a good grade in the course. Just don't get behind and you'll do fine in her classes.
Jackie is a really patient and really good teacher. Her Math for Critical Thinking class is not to difficult but there is a lot of work. She is a very nice person and is quite helpful in getting you to understand the material. Take her class if you want a fun and less stressful college math experience.
I had no faith in my math ability until i took Jackie's class. She is very patient and has the students success in the forefront at all times. You will have to work, but nothing great comes easy. I got a B - and THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is a miracle.
Swicegood cares about her subject & it shows. She has a helpful, positive attitude. She?s crystal clear & available to answer questions. There?s alot of work involved in this class but that?s a math class for ya.
She is one of the best teachers I've ever had for any class. She cares about the subject and the students. Very helpful and such a great personality. Like with any class, you have to do the work, but she is there to help! She also makes it very fun!
I really enjoyed this statistics class the first half of the semester, but I felt as though her teaching went downhill after the midterm, which affected my overall grade. I really disliked the group projects that were done mostly outside of class as well. Groups are pre-assigned, so if you do end up taking her, pray you get decent groups.
Took 8wk. online. Has her own Youtube channel for explaining how to work problems. Lots of homework. 2 proctored tests on campus. Use the practice exams to optimize success, they ARE the tests. Basically, you had a certain number of days to submit all the work. 1000 points possible.
AMAZING! This is my second time taking Jackie and I LOVE her:) she is clear and even though the group projects are little tough to understand she is an amazing teacher and I do not regret taking her, I loved her so much I'm encouraging my boyfriend to take her too
Very good teacher
Swicegood is a great teacher who is there often for help!
Jackie is an awesome teacher. She is there to help you in any way she can! This subject is very difficult, but she tries to make it as easy as possible. There are a lot of group projects. So if you don't think you will have time for them outside of class, this class COULD be a little more challenging for you! TAKE JACKIE SHE IS GREAT!!!
Taking her online 8 wk course. The videos she has for every section are slightly helpful, but the most helpful videos are the ones you have to watch before you can start the homewrk on mymathlab. Her online class is "self-paced" but there is a ton of homewrk. she gives the chance for 20 extra credit pts.if u take this 8wk class dont take anything else
Excellent teacher I would recommend to anyone serious about their education. There is ton of homework but there are plenty of tools available to help assist you every step of the way. I took her for three semester's in a row and I loved each and every one of her classes! She is extremely helpful and a very good Instructor :)
I took her algebra class at the west campus a couple years back. I just thought she was such a horriable teacher that i would make sure to make a comment about it. She gives unecssary homework, and is brutal with tests, doesnt teach well and will not bump up a grade even if its 69.9. Terriable teacher needs to be shunned for even trying to teach
I personally like her. However, don't bomb or get a low grade on a test cause it's really hard to get an A afterwards.
I personally did not like her teaching style. Thank god for the online tutoring otherwise I would not have learned a thing. My recommendation, if you can afford her, do it.
She is terrible. When are math teachers going to understand that teaching math takes more than just understanding the material ?!?!?!
Very knowledgeable, and definitely loves statistics. Lots of work though, more work than any of my other higher level classes.
The system is harsh, one input and your answer is wrong no human touch or feedback. Took the 8 week course ... whew got a c- half your grade comes from 2 proctored exams, and the teacher for online purposes its all set it and forget it kinda feeling i get. If you know your math its not to bad if you don't its all uphill,50 homework's and 4 test
She is very nice but her homework are ridiculous. I am a 4.0 student & failed her Intermediate Algebra class. I retook it w/ another teacher and got an A on both intermediate & college algebra. Again, she is super sweet, but unrealistic amounts of work. Homework deadlines are every other day online and its hard when you work & have other classes.
Agree she's very nice & helpful, 80+ hmwk assignments (cant move on to next assignment til you do well on previous assignment), 2 tests = 1/2 your grade. 1 hmwk ? can have 20 blanks to answer. If you are taking other classes, work or have a family I wouldn't take this class online it is overwhelmingly stressful.
I took the 8-week online course and it was my third time taking Intermediate Algebra. None of the work is due until the end of the class, so it gives you a little slack if you are not able to work on assignments everyday. There are a few extra credit points too!! I would recommend this class to anyone who struggles with math. I finally passed!!!
I took Math for critical thinking and absolutely loved this class. I am an English major and math is not easy for me. Mrs. Swicegood was very patient with me and I passed her class. She was also reachable whenever I needed help and never got upset if I didn't understand something.
I took Ms Swicegood's 8 week online class. She was a nice teacher but her class was a nightmare. I barely passed and I'm good at math. There were at least 30-40 questions for homework everyday and the tests were not easy at all. I would not recommend this class.
I enjoyed Mrs. Swicegood teaching style. She made the class interesting yet challenging. To do well in the class in her class I had to put the time in, but my fundamentals are solid now. I know that when I go to OSU that I won't be lost because of the work I put into this class. Excellent teacher!
She opened the class a few days early so we could have a jumpstart on h.w., midterm &final must be completed by certain dates. But for the most part there is room to move a lil slower or faster and complete early. Bonus pts thru study plan & small project. There is a pract midterm & final so no surprises on what's on them when you go to take them.
She is very nice but her coursework is very tough. Tons of homework assignments and you can't move on to next assignment until you make a certain grade, 2 tests that are half of your grade. Each homework assignment is at least 20 questions or more. This is a tough and stressful course especially if you have children, work, and other classes.
So can I start by saying that math is so not my strength but this course was not crazy difficult for 8 weeks and all online. You have 4 tests and a midterm and final. You will have lots of work BUT doing the work helps so much. You are also allowed to take each test twice and there are study guides for the midterm and final. The midterm one helped.
Swicegood, more like twice as good as any other teachers at TCC! She is ALWAYS there to help when needed with a BIG smile. There are a few group projects that are actually really fun once they get going, and a great learning experience. Attended class, do your work, and just try and you will do amazing in this class!
I am terrible at math but Jackie was helpful and just nice to be around.
Math is difficult for me, but Jackie was very helpful, there is a lot of homework, but the homework really helps with the class and the tests.
Professor Swicegood is very clear from the beginning of the semester. There is lots of homework and many quizzes that you must do, but this is very manageable if you take the time to do it and actually practice the material. She's always there if you need her and when she tells you to not worry about the final, please trust her, you'll be fine!
She is very easy to reach. I emailed her several times asking for help on specific problems and she emailed me back in a timely manner and she also offered office hours if her emails did not answer the questions well enough, which they did. Class is self paced so you will need to make sure you pace yourself accordingly.
Prof. Swicegood is awesome. She offers a comprehensible online textbook and she makes the tests and homework manageable. She sends weekly emails, encourages you to stay on schedule, and congratulates you if you do a good job. She replies to emails as fast as possible. It is very obvious she cares and wants you to succeed. Amazing experience!
I took Precalculus 1 (Math 1513) online and I liked the class! We had online homework assignments due every few days, but you can work ahead. Professor Swicegood would send emails to check in with the class and she was very encouraging and helpful. I highly recommend her!
It was an easy class, but when it came down to it she ended up ignoring my emails. I really liked her and would take again, but a B+ was undeserved and should've been an A. To give a better idea, I was 3 out of 880 points from an A because I had tech issues during the final exam. I appealed my grade and faculty was ridiculous. So be careful.
While math isn't my greatest subject, Prof. Swicegood made it easy to keep up! All of the weekly assignments were posted on time, and there was always documentation to check on for help. Email was a bit slow at times, though I think this was due to the high school involvement. Highly recommend!
Professor Swicegood cares about her students. She gives you the tools to achieve what you are wanting.
Math isn't my best subject but, Professor Swicegood was always available when I needed help. There were 3 exams only 25 questions. Everything was on mylab math. Not to work heavy. She gives you all the work at the start of the semester and its all due on the last day of the semester. I would definitely recommend her class!
Pretty difficult but loved her, she was very nice and helpful.
She was my professor for my online transition class at broken arrow, she didn't come as much since we had a teacher in the room, but she is really nice and always open for help
Professor Swicegood is soft spoken, caring and very good at teaching. The class could be difficult but she makes it very easy to understand and is great at explaining rather difficult topics. I would take her again.
Had her class as a concurrent junior, easy pace, and would take a class with her again.
Her online classes are awesome. She has lecture videos that she uses for her in person class. Allows you to work ahead. Exams before due date earn you extra credit.
Professor Swicegood is soft-spoken and caring. Her course is super organized, with flexible due date recommendations so you can work at your own pace. You can redo assignments until they're correct, making it hard not to pass. She responds quickly to questions and genuinely cares about her students. Highly recommend!
Very helpful and wants you to succeed. I very much recommend, you will do good in the class if you try.
Always showed up late to class, i wasn't really mad about it, life happens. But what really got me questioning stuff was when I was two minutes late and she told me she was going to take pints off my attendance, which really hurt my grade a lot bc every time she would grade attendance she would take away those points
Professor Swicegood was absolutely phenomenal! She was so understanding and caring and is so ready to work with you, no matter what your math skills are coming into the class. If you need help with a question/homework, she is willing to meet in person or send a detailed guide through email. As long as you put in time and effort, you'll do great!
Professor Swicegood was excellent at conveying the material. As long as you follow the lectures with the provided notes, you'll do great in the class. For the proctored exams, she does provide scratch paper (ask for extra!). Also, she provides instructions on how to solve problems on paper AND using shortcuts with a scientific calculator.
Cannot say enough good things about this teacher. She genuinely wants you to do good in her class. Very caring and teaches sooo well and clear.
She was amazing. She sent weekly announcements that acted as I inspirational guides to help power us through till the very end. Everything was graded quickly and correctly and lots of opportunities to get the best grade possible. Hate math love this class.
