Great professor! Really enjoyed his class! His class was fairly challenging, but he is a very helpful professor. Would definitely recommend!
If you can get past the accent (which isn't hard at all) Prof. Dalecki is very good. I just had one of the best lectures in my college experience today with him.
It seems like he is trying, but the tests are quite hard..
He's a great teacher. The class is not very hard just read the powerpoints and don't be completely lazy. He's totally likable and funny. The class isn't that bad, it's not just history as the other person said. If you have to take a polysci class, take one with him. I don't really know what the people who gave him bad reviews are talking about.
This class isn't hard; just read the PowerPoints and do his study guides/exam highlights before the tests and you'll do fine. No textbook. He takes attendance every day but it's just a lecture, no homework except reading. You don't even have to do the reading, it just prepares you better for the test. If you have a required Poli Sci, take this.
You do have to know basically everything for the test, but if you do the readings (which aren't long or hard) and go over the powerpoint, it's an easy A. Professor Dalecki is funny and likeable, and I don't feel like he treats us like we're ignorant as someone else said. Classes sometimes get boring, but most hour and 15 minute classes do
This is my favorite class I've ever taken in college. He was funny, invited discussion, and graded our writing with comments to make us think more rather than getting caught up on details. Like all Y490s, writing was emphasized, and he graded thoughtfully. Lecture not mandatory but you actually want to go. Great professor, highly recommend.
Dalecki is the best. He is funny, very intelligent, and extremely clear. Class is fun. An hour and 15 min lecture can become dry, but he is actually pretty entertaining. He doesn't take any bs. Very fair. RECOMMENDED.
He is so wonderful! He is a great teacher, awesome lecturer, loves his topic, and never makes anyone feel stupid or puts anyone down. I don't think I could find anyone who doesn't absolutely love him. Take a class with him if you ever have the chance!
Terrorism of Old & New Generations. Best professor I've ever had! Does not assign daily homework, but recommends reading. Class lectures are never boring. Truly makes you think about the topic. Whether Political Science major or not, this is a must take class! He rewards improvement on tests in your final grade.
One of the most interesting classes I've ever been in. This class really makes you think about everything you have ever known. Professor Dalecki is an amazing lecturer and is fair and awesome. One of the best professors I've ever had.
An excellent and very clear lecture. He is from Poland (but has been in Bloomington for 20+ years) and has a slight accent which does not impede his clarity at all! He would often speckle his lectures with his jokingly cynical humor. And his lectures, while long, are almost like a well-rehearsed speech, they just flow very well. Great prof!
Best professor on campus.
What a great guy! I failed the first test (didn't do the readings) but got b's on the other three and based off of my attendance he gave me a b- in the class. I went in to see what I could do to do well on the exams and he was extremely helpful. He's very funny and in a weird way, attractive. I hate poly sci but his class was interesting.
I love him! I took 100 with him, and 211 was just more of this hilarious, intelligent guy. I can't get enough of him, I hope to take more courses with him in the future. Excellent lecturer.
Easy, thought provoking, and fun class. Professor is funny and engaging.
great teacher. the class was pretty easy, and really interesting. ALl the notes are online and he doesn't count attendance as a grade so you can miss if you want to.
Good teacher with a very good relationship with students. Gives the opportunity to fight back points on tests and also boosts grades based off marked improvement.
LOVE this professor. He goes over information in a very interesting way. there are readings before class and I have never read one and have gotten A's on all of the tests. there is no homework or quizzes, only tests. he grades on improvement so if you improve over the semester he'll raise your grade
Good Guy, pretty easy class. I practically never read from texts (which are all online) and I got a pretty easy A. Learned a lot too
I absolutely adored Professor Dalecki. He talks about really interesting topics & is so friendly to students, even if they argue against what he is saying. Grades on improvement, & discussion is a factor as well.
Hands down the best class I have taken during my 4 years at IUB. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll want to go anyway. Lectures are very entertaining.
Pretty cool class. Attendance wasn't mandatory so sometimes I just had a friend sign me in. A lot of times I didn't go to class and then just studied for the tests based on the PowerPoints online. As long as you study, you can get a good grade. The presentations that he puts online are exactly what he covers in class.
Jacek is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. He's engaging and remains as impartial as any poli sci professor can. He keeps class interesting, the readings are also not too bad. Tests are fairly easy (I got 100% on all of them) with extra credit possible. Accent isn't bad at all, he's fluent in English. I'm taking his Law class next semester.
Class is difficult. Test are more writing based and few multiple choice. If you do not pay attention and read all of the readings you will not do well.
Excellent. Interesting. Hilarious. Intellectual.
Professor Dalecki allowed too many uninformed students to guide our discussions. He is a nice professor but I did not learn much in this class. If you want an easy course, take his POLS-Y 100, but not if you're passionate about political controversies.
Great guy, great professor. Probably one of my favorite professors I've had at IU. He's super funny and makes a class enjoyable. Study the notes you take in class and go to the review sessions and you shouldn't have a hard time getting a good grade.
Great teacher! Very clear during lectures and material really keeps you interested because he's so passionate. Really cares about his students and one of the nicest guys you'll meet if you go to office hours. Definitely recommend taking this course!
This class is easy, mainly discussion. Nothing is cumulative. You don't have to read most of the material to do well and it's all on oncourse. He genuinely cares about his students and is willing to help with any aspect. I loved the fact that he would make any concept or word into a conversation that included everyone. Don't be afraid to speak out!
Great guy, very passionate about what he teaches, and his students. If you pay attention in class you'll get an A
Great guy and really good lecturer.
AMAZING! Love this guy. Had him for y211, seriously awesome course. He is super entertaining, smart, and helpful. Highly recommend.
Prof. Dalecki is the best lecturer I've had. He was engaging & entertaining. Every lecture was student lead based on our views & Dalecki remained impartial throughout debates. Genuinely cared about students, tests were easy to do well on if you went to class & studied the notes you took. I always recommend this class to others. no textbook needed
He's really funny and interesting! He has a cool accent as well. He does a really good job of getting the students involved in the subject and everyone enjoyed themselves. Skipping is no biggie because the lecture notes are all online so you can still get an A on the tests which are easy but have essays :(
Dalecki is my favorite professor at IU. His classes are wonderful and he is absolutely hilarious. I didn't do any of the reading and got an A+. Go to every lecture and pay attention and you'll do fine. His tests are very straightforward and fair.
He's awesome. You get what you put in to it in this class. You can honestly pass super easy by sleeping through lectures but he's funny, helpful and smart so if you are thinking about majoring in any field related to politics just participate. I've never felt more welcome to voice my opinion. If you try even a little you'll get an A but it's fun.
Professor Dalecki is an awesome professor. His classes are engaging, and very informatve. I enjoyed attending and participating, no homework besides readings ( i didnt read them) only 4 tests. He is funny, and knows his stuff.
Dalecki is amazing! His presentations are so helpful especially when studying for exams. As long as you attend all of his classes, take notes on what he's saying - not the presentations (those are uploaded later), it's an easy A class. As long as you're interested in law, and get the main gist of the whole class - you'll love his teaching!
Great teacher. My favorite thus far. Semi-difficult tests but all of the information is provided not only in class but online as well.
Jacek is an awesome professor who makes what is on the test very clear. He is an amazing teacher, and truly cares about his students. Definitely take this class.
Dr. Dalecki is by far the best lecturer I've had in my time at IU. His tests are straight from the lectures, which are directly from his in-class powerpoints. He also posts highlights that will be on the test before each exam. Memorize the highlights and you'll get a 'A' for sure. We had 3 exams and a paper. Great guy. Go to office hours.
Great guy and even better professor. He's not American, so he has a lot of interesting perspective on our political system. Interesting topics, organized lectures. You absolutely HAVE to go to class to pass and get extra credit questions on tests. Don't bother with the articles he assigns though, not helpful on tests. Posts exam highlights.
I loved taking y211 with Professor Dalecki. He is very interesting and always willing to answer your questions. He respects his students and is great at his job. Even though it was a lecture, it was very interesting. He posts the power points online. As long as you study the power points, you'll do fine.
Professor Dalecki's class was pretty interesting, but extremely easy. If you want an easy A, take the class, but you might not learn that much.
Dr. Dalecki is one of the best professors I've had at IU. He takes what could be a potentially dry subject (intro to law) and makes it interesting and even funny. He posts his lecture notes online, so you are able to see them when studying for the tests (for which he provides study guides). I would definitely take another class from him.
FAVE. Lectures are well-organized and he keeps discussion open, objective, and interesting. He's sarcastic and funny, but keeps it professional and relevant. I rarely did the readings (no textbook, just Oncourse) and still got an A. Tests are MC and short essay, just study a little and you'll do fine. Go to his office hours and he'll help you out.
A great professor.
Professor Dalecki is GREAT. One of the best professors I have had at IU (I also took Y211 with him and would give it the same high rating). He works with his students, does not believe in cummulative exams and is, overall, a very intelligent, interesting man. I have loved his classes and would reccomend Dalecki to anyone!
I can't say enough about how good a professor he is. Not only is he great at teaching, but his personality makes lectures interesting and you can tell that he really cares about what he teaches and is there if a student reaches out to him
Great guy, funny and respectful. Encourages original ideas from students and always asks for participation. Readings are not 100% necessary to pass the class, you just need to make sure his AI's are not tough graders. But all in all he really knows what he is talking about and expresses genuine interest in the material.
This professor is awesome. He's hilarious, but is still very professional. He lets you know that its okay to speak how you truly feel about the topics we discuss in class. he also has an awesome accent and is truly a man's man. Definitely take this class if you wanna get gen. eds out of the way.
He is definitely a super hilarious professor who inspires his students. He changed my way of thinking things. DEBATE is a big part of his lecture. He truly motivates critical thinking & has some unique jokes about American politics.
great guy and great professor, love his class! taking another with him next semester he's so good.
Professor Dalecki is a very good teacher that cares about his students. I have taken him in two separate semesters because I enjoy his class so much. If you listen in class, do the readings, and study for the test you will find yourself with a good grade in the class. Additionally, Dalecki is a great professor who values students opinions.
Professor Dalecki is the type of teacher you say Hi to when you walk pass him around campus.. He is awesome, take him; it would be a mistake not to.
Jacek is an amazing professor; super passionate about law! Definitely go to his office hours just to chat. He used to work as a test prep assistant and will really help you pass, not only his tests, but all tests to come!
Dalecki does a great job of picking topics that interest students and is very passionate about teaching. He makes hilarious jokes and it's not hard to pay attention but if you don't want to go, don't worry- just read the notes online. He gives very easy tests with study guides that give you the questions also. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Professor Dalecki is a great teacher. The topics that we discussed were always interesting. His exams aren't difficult and as long as you show up to class and/or study his lecture notes you will be fine.
jacek is a great person & a great professor. His lectures were the most involved of mine this semester, i loved getting up to go to his class which i thought id never say about going to lecture. He does really make you love law & in fact its because of him i am planning law school. I cannot describe in words enough how great he is, enjoy this class
There were only four tests in this class and they were non cumulative. They were all very easy, in fact I only studied the night before and did decent on them all. He is a very nice guy even if sometimes the lectures get boring (law tends to be boring no matter what though). I rarely went to class and passed with a B.
awesome guy. super cool and interesting lectures. attendance wasn't mandatory for this course but i highly recommend you go.
The class is interesting, but the exams for his class are only 25 points each, with the class only being 100 points total. The exams include a few multiple choice but mostly written short answers. For me, I found the exams the hardest and ended up not doing well because I did poorly on an exam and couldn't raise my grade from that point.
Jacek is an absolute beast, his lectures are inspirational and informative. His class work sometimes seems irrelevant and pointless but then turn out to have a value and reason when we explain it during class (which makes it easy to learn). Doesn't give midterms instead he gives us four tests with around 20 questions. The tests are simple.
Professor Dalecki's lectures are always very well structured and intriguing throughout, he sparks a lot of conversations in debates in class and isn't afraid to put people on blast. The grade is based only off 4 tests, I think they're pretty easy... He's got a dope accent and is lectures are always interesting I'd definitely recommend him.
Great lectures, cool perspective on learning. His experience outside the US made learning in his class really unique and fun. He's funny, tests are easy, and you genuinely want to go back to his class to learn more. Would take this class again in a heartbeat if I could. Also, cool accent!
I highly suggest this class to everyone, even if you're not necessarily big into politics. This is a very thought provoking class and I very much enjoyed Professor Dalecki's teaching style and sense of humor. 12/10 would recommend.
He's funny, and his class is pretty easy. All lecture slides online and attendance not mandatory, you really don't even need to go to class, but it helps. Just 4 tests, and no papers in his class. I'd take a class with him again.
Love this professor. I looked forward to going to class. There is class participation and he argues each side but you never know his political position. I respected that. He encourages out of the box thinking. I would take him if you have the chance.
Great teacher, it's extremely easy to listen to a lecture for over a hour if he is giving it.
Jacek is a very impressive professor in the way that he always leads the class with an unbiased point of view for each topic. I didn't do any of the reading and just listened in lecture and got an A, just study the night before the test. Overall, I enjoyed his class a lot and would definitely recommend him.
Jacek is a great teacher who questions your thinking. Fun, easy class. Don't have to show up. Fill out the study guide he provides before tests and you'll get an A. No homework or out of class work.
Extremely dry lectures, but an easy A.
Professor Dalecki is an amazing lecturer who is great at explaining complex legal concepts in a clear and concise way that anyone can understand. The grading system is set up so all you have to do is show up and listen to his lectures, take good notes and study them for the quizzes. Save cash and don't worry about the book. You won't need it.
Dalecki was hilarious and I loved his Intro to Law course!
took both of his classes and absolutely loved him. Favorite teacher at IU, I wish he taught more than 2 classes though. Show up to class, take notes, study and you will have an easy A. 10/10 would highly recommend
Best Prof I've ever had at IU (graduating senior). I took his political science class after just because of his lectures. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed, and if you pay attention you will at least pass no matter what. doesn't take an extreme amount to get an A.
Dalecki was a hilarious professor and I always enjoyed going to his class.
Although class is not mandatory, I would recommend going. All of his power points, which are VERY useful are posted on Canvas. He gives a study guide before the exam and they are VERY helpful. Recommend reviewing them. Three exams (two exams plus a final) and a 4-6 page paper that counts as a fourth exam. Paper is VERY easy. Great professor!!
Did not like this class. Fine if you're in it for credit and pass the exams, but if you care about logic/truth you'll be fuming after every class knowing that he's effectively lying to your face while pretending to teach you. He's either incredibly forgetful and doesn't care for accuracy, or he's knowingly bending the truth to set up an argument.
Love Dalecki! His lectures are the furthest thing from boring. Keeps class entertaining while still teaching exactly what will appear on exams. Posts powerpoints so no need to scribble down notes. Highly recommend!
Jacek is fantastic. His lectures are never boring and the class as a whole isn't difficult. No outside homework, and just four exams. Jacek gives you a study guide and its pretty much exactly what you will find on the exam.
Best prof! Super funny, makes lecture interesting. 3 easy exams with study guides. Knows what he is talking about. 1 straight forward essay. I plan to take another class with him bc he's awesome. Don't miss out on taking this class if you have the chance. Its an easy A with an incredible professor.
If you are not naturally good at memorizing cases and a bunch of terms, the exams may be hard for you. Study guides are given before every exam but the exams require you to know what you are talking about and for the most part are short answer. Nice guy but lectures can be boring and he repeats himself many many times. The class is mediocre.
He is very interactive and makes the classes interesting.
Lectures fly by because he makes you invested in the topics. He also really emphasizes the importance of respecting and understand to other people's beliefs. In class, you never know his views and no student is 100% right. He simply challenges you to think about how and why you think. He taught me lessons I'll take beyond the class.
Jacek is a great teacher. My only issue is his teaching style is sometimes hard to follow along with because it can be a little dramatic but otherwise he is a great teacher. He makes points that everyone can understand and presents very interesting topics for us to discuss.
At glance this class seems pretty straight forward about introducing you to law and legal terms. However, this is not the case, this class is lecture and reading heavy and only consists of 3 exams and a long essay. Also, the GAs grade everything and are very strict on what they want. This class was manageable but caused a lot of stress, no easy A.
The only problem is that this class is graded by only 3 exams. If you are like me, that scares you. He is so much fun to have in class though. Attendance was mandatory, but I did not mind coming to the lectures because they were fun! I am set to take another class of his next semester, and it reaffirms my major as political science!
Jacek is a great professor. He's funny and has interesting lectures. He updates his syllabus every semester to accurately show modern issues. Study and pay attention to the lectures. His AIs grade hard and if you take the tests too lightly it'll hurt you. There's only 3 tests and they're 3/4ths of the grade. He's flexible on appealing test answers
I was a freshman coming into IU and he was my first class. Such a funny guy and makes class go by quickly. You need to go to lectures to do well in the class. He gives you highlight sheets which are very helpful before each test. Such an amazing teacher that I decided to take his other class this semester. Hes also very understanding with conflict
The course is graded by 3 exams, which is what killed my grade. Great Professor, though, he was very engaging and humorous, although lectures occasionally seemed to drag on. He puts readings on Canvas, but covers all the material in lecture. I passed with only reading the 1st one. Make sure to go to class. It helps you understand the material.
Prof. Dalecki is pretty funny, which is good, because the entire class is lectures with 3 quizzes. If he was boring it'd be a dealbreaker. The material in the class isn't all that difficult but reading is important and lecture notes are important. Sitting in the front major key. very easy to talk to, usually good about involving class discussion.
Materials for this class were online - not a ton of reading. Very organized and clear power point presentations posted after each topic to review. Study guide for exams are made available. His lectures are informative and easy to listen to and stay interested in.
He is funny. But being funny is not going to help you guys with receiving good grades in class. Okay this is the first time for me to leave a review on rate my professor and I just had to because he is ridiculously bad. Grades based on 3 exams, no other assignments or extra credit opportunity. Avoid him if you can
He makes it comfortable to share your opinion in class. The class itself is probably boring but I found it to be interesting because he was the teacher.
Funny professor and teaches interesting material but if you dont do well on the tests your grade will be terrible. The course is graded off 3 exams as well as attendance, but he is the only professor for the course.
I would avoid him if I could. I wish I would have. The content is not bad, but your whole grade is based off of three 30 point tests, and 10 points attendance. No opportunity for extra credit or other assignments. This means if you mess up on any test, you will not get the grade you want probably. I would be careful.
Prof. Dalecki is hilarious and makes the class fun. Grades are determined by 2 exams, a paper and attendance. He gives you review guides before each exam that are extremely helpful and he lists exactly what you need to include in the paper. Lectures are helpful and very clear. Great class, great professor
He is a wonderful instructor. It was very clear what was expected from students. Very clear grading. He encouraged participation and made students feel comfortable - never "put on the spot"; very respectful. I would love to take another of his courses. I highly recommend taking his class. Entertaining and stimulating.
He was a great professor. This was my second class with him, but unfortunately I just hated the subject matter. This law class and the Supreme Court case paper we had to write made me not want to be a lawyer. So to sum up, he was a really good professor, but do not take this class unless you love law.
I've taken him twice, the first time attendance wasn't mandatory but the second time it was. Your grade is test heavy (you have 4 total), 3 in class exams and 1 take home essay. He has readings but the test never cover them. His lectures are easy to follow but his slide shows kinda get confusing, Slides are posted once he's done with the topic.
Very interesting lecture material and Professor Dalecki did justice to the concepts with his interactive teaching style even though the class was large. One of the best professors I have had so far at IU. He encourages participation, but it is not mandatory. NO PAPERS. NO POP QUIZZES. There are only 3 exams, the 3rd one being the final.
Great prof. The class is only graded on attendance, two exams, and an essay, but the grading is not too harsh at all. I think his AIs grade for him, so I'm not sure if the grading changes semester to semester. But as a professor you can tell he knows what he's talking about and he makes jokes from time to time. He has an accent but not too heavy.
I love Dalecki and would have him again. Good at explaining material and clearing up confusion. Tests & attendance are the grade, but if you go to class and study, you will get an A. Good guy and interesting to listen to, can be funny. 10/10
Great professor. Classes were just lectures, but he made it as interesting as possible. Funny, respectful, and only takes three grades (not including attendance). It was boring at times, but this might have been because I was not passionate about the subject matter.
Professor Dalecki is extremely knowledgeable on his course subject matter, and tries to make even the most dry material entertaining. He also is very approachable and makes asking questions easy.
An amazing professor. He was inspirational, caring, and funny. He listened to students. The discussions applied to lectures (as real world examples) extremely well. He is a genuinely good person too. He is from Poland, which provides an interesting perspective. Funny guy. Perfect balance of little workload but very intellectually stimulating.
Professor Dalecki gives fascinating lectures that teach you to understand multiple aspects of politics. As he likes to say, he gives you the tools to go out and evaluate politics for yourself. It was an easy class but 100% worth the time.
Extremely easy online class. 50% of grade was a weekly quiz that were 5 questions each, open note, 25% was a paper, 25% was final. Keep in mind that the quizzes end at 11AM, not PM like other classes. Overall, a very easy class and one that I was quite interested in!
Take this class for any POLS requirement with Dalecki and you won't regret it. He's a funny and intelligent Polish immigrant who never discusses personal political beliefs, so refreshing. Highly recommend. Study and you'll get an A, the material is not complicated.
The best political science professor and one of the best professors I've had at IU! He makes the lectures extremely interesting and you can tell he is very passionate about his work. The class doesn't have much work outside of class and is very straightforward. Take classes with him if you want to genuinely learn!
Was very scared at the beginning of the class when I realized that the weekly 5 point quizzes were 5% of your grade. Then I made sure to pay close attention to the lectures and it turned out fine! He is an incredible teacher who avoids bias. Learned a ton about relevant issues. Great intro class. Would highly recommend!
Great guy! It was interesting to see how he used pop culture references to help explain legal concepts to students. He is a chill dude and even funny at times. Assignments were super heavy and I like that the coursework was minimal.
Took this class as part of IFS and was a great introductory course to start college off with. He's hilarious. As long as you pay attention to the reading and listen to his lectures you will get a good grade. He loves participation and listens to his students. He stays 100% impartial. My favorite teacher till this day and gives great advice.
Professor Dalecki was great even though the coursework was quite boring and surface level. His powerpoints are helpful. Tests and essays are easy if you pay attention in class (even if you don't do every reading). Super funny nice guy and seemed to be loved by my whole class.
Hes an AMAZING professor! He came up to me after I completed the class and genuinely cares about his students. You will learn a lot, just pay attention and do the work. He doesnt grade hard, he just wants participation and you will have an amazing time!
Professor Dalecki talks so much yet says so little. Everything he lectures about in this class was very surface-level and introductory, which was fine, but he rambles on and on about the most basic topics. Prepare to be bored while listening to his lectures. my AP gov class in high school went into more depth than this. Super easy class though.
Great professor, but class was designed was really bad. Class was basically an open discussion, which was fun and professor was really fun. Then when it came to tests, the structure was terrible. The tests had the stupidest and weirdest multiple choice, which do no fairly represent the students intelligence. Papers were good and better.
He keeps the class setting very informal and keeps making jokes, doesnt grade very hard and overall I loved his class.
Class was an open discussion, which made it really fun and interesting. Then when it came to tests, it was just awful. The tests had the stupidest questions making it really hard to pass. With that being said I just don't think my grade is what it should be. The papers on the other hand were much easier and not bad at all.
Prof. Dalecki is easily the best professor I've had at this school. He keeps his lectures relevant and maintains a completely and refreshingly unbiased position on all topics, which is atypical at IU. He's also extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable and provides a unique perspective on the state of American politics. Highly recommend!
One of the best classes you can take at IU. Hilarious dude who genuinely cares. 3 exams and 3 papers for the semester make up your grade. They are all very easy if you pay attention in lecture. He is incredibly unbiased and neutral in his politics which is hard to find in a Political Science teacher. Highly recommend him.
I loved Professor Dalecki! So kind and funny. At times the lectures would get a bit boring, as he would repeat himself often...But, he truly cares about you and your understanding of the content. Aspiring, but weary, law students would love to take a class with him. He totally helped me figure out whether or not that career path was for me!
attendance isn't mandatory but is recommended to better absorb information from lectures. Only graded on 3 papers and 2 exams plus the final.
I genuinely have absolutely no idea how his rating is so high. His lectures by the the third week will have around 1/3 of the class skipping. He will go in depth about the most surface level issues that it is near impossible to stay attentive at all in this class. Every time I go, I leave feeling like I wasted an hour of my life. It is dreadful.
The professor is funny and I honestly enjoyed lectures. He lets the class discuss their opinions on matters and makes it very engaging, but some of his lectures can be slightly boring at times. He posts the PowerPoints, which may be confusing unless you go to class, but if you study the PowerPoints you'll do good on the exams. Super easy essays.
Dalecki was great at giving lectures and seems to actually care about the material too. One of the better profs I've had, made the material very engaging. Only thing that sucked about his class was how little assignments there are, but as long as you go to lecture and do some of the reading then you should be good
This was my favorite class of the school year and the lectures are very entertaining. The assignments consisted of 3 exams and 3 papers, which were fairly easy. 10/10 would recommend.
Easiest class I have ever taken. Attendance not mandatory, and writing assignments (which there are 3 small ones) are simple. As are exams. Until the final, I had only missed 3 total points in the course. I essentially took this course with my eyes clothes and got an A. A great gpa booster! Professor is kinda weird in his messages but funny.
Overall, the professor himself is very unique and fun to be in a class with. However, your grade is entirely based on how strict the Assistant instructors are that year. And because the class is only 100 points, getting above an A is tough. This can be seen online, too, in his grade distributions.
Don't know how his rating is high, funny guy but horrible prof. Content of the class seems easy, but he writes the tests to be so difficult. If you miss lecture you will miss the little things he tests on and probably fail the exams. There are only 3 exams (including the final) and the 4 papers are graded by AI, so your grade depends on them.
Terrible. Only 3 papers and 3 exams. No extra credit or rounding. Hard grading on papers from the Ais.
Although Professor Dalecki was not a bad professor, his grading system is extremely messed up. His TA's graded EXTREMELY hard and never made it known what exactly they were looking for. The only other thing I could say is his lectures are too long and drawn out, and are mostly common sense. He was a good guy, but a typical GenEd teacher.
Professor Dalecki himself was fine, however the AI's were extremely hard graders, especially for an introductory course. The exams were generally straightforward and graded fairly as they were a mix of multiple choice and short answer. Overall, if you are debating whether or not to take the course, probably don't.
This professor himself is a good guy, however his exams are written extremely poorly and meant to make you miss questions, The papers are small assignments however if you do not go to office hours you are guaranteed to get a bad grade. Overall, this class is not one I would take again, and this information is reflected by his grade distribution.
It is a boring class, very basic level understanding of American politics. Your grade depends on the TAs. The TAs for my term were extremely strict and thus I got a B plus. The exams can be tricky so read the question carefully.
Professor Dalecki was great and really funny. The only issue was there wasn't a lot of standardizing across TA grading so when the class is only out of 100 points, getting a TA that graded harder made a big difference in the end.
Prof is a good guy and the lectures were fun but the TAs kind of ruined the class. They were extremely strict especially for an entry level class. It kind of seemed like they were on a power trip.
Prof Dalecki is a good teacher and orator, however the TAs ruined this class. There are only 7 assignments. The tests are fine, but the papers' grades feel like a toss up for what you will receive - its all up to which TA you get. With the current TAs, I would no0t recommend this class as you could get a higher grade in another polisci class.
Jacek is an incredible lecturer and his lectures are the best I've seen at the University. Unfortunately, the papers in this class are graded by his TA's, who are very strict for a level 100 class. In fact, the first paper had an average grade of 6.7. In addition, the papers are very limited, with just a 2 page limit, so good luck.
The entire grade is only worth 100 points, and missing a few questions or points on papers adds up quickly. The AIs are harsh graders for an intro class, and you will miss points on papers if you don't use certain wording. The professor also often repeats himself in lectures. I wouldn't recommend taking this class.
He's fine; his lectures are good, but the issue lies with his AIs. They are all super harsh graders who take points off for not using specific wording or writing too much. With a limited amount of assignments to improve your grade and harsh grading, I would sincerely advise avoiding this class solely because of the AIs.
The class itself is interesting and Prof. Dalecki is a great lecturer, but his final exams are really difficult. You can prepare for the other assignments and exams by re-reading material and studying your notes, but no class material could have prepared me to excel on the final exam.
Prof. Dalecki is a great professor! His lectures are entertaining and informational, and I enjoy going to his class. However, his AI's are STRICT graders. A little too strict for a 200 level class, in my opinion. You can write a paper that meets all of the outlined criteria and still get an 8/10 or below. Maybe would not take this class for the AI.
Absolutely amazing professor with very vast knowledge on everything he teaches. Attendance isn't mandatory but the lectures are engaging enough to make you want to come every day.
Great professor. Good, thought-provoking lectures. The TAs/AIs for the class graded extremely tough on essays, but once you get their preferences figured out, you are good to go. Tests were not easy, it definitely is to your benefit to attend lectures and read the few, short assigned readings.
Very funny guy. Great lectures, manages to remain impartial on divisive topics. Knows what he's talking about.
I would not take this class again. It was very interesting, and he cares a lot about what he is teaching, but the entire course is out of just 100 points. And the essays are graded very harshly. If you make even just a few mistakes, you will not get a good grade in the class. Don't take this class for an "easy A," and go to EVERY lecture to do well
Engaging lectures, but the AIs can be harsh graders. Try unstuck study and other study tools to do well. Manageable workload, but attend class to get the most out of it.
He had great lectures, but his grading system in not so great. The instructions on papers are unclear and the tests have questions that nobody in their right mind would study for. Awesome and knowledgeable person, terrible teacher.
The class was very interesting and Prof Dalecki was very passionate about the topics discussed in class. Lectures were optional but I would recommend going to all of them. Grading was done by TAs who were very strict with grading, a little too strict for a 100-level class but nevertheless, it was a fun class that I would take again.
Prof. Dalecki himself is very knowledgeable and passionate, but I would not recommend this class strictly because of his TAs. They are tough graders and provide horrible feedback. I would recommend this class to anyone interested, but I would recommend taking it with someone else strictly due to his TAs.
He is very good at lecturing and cares about your in-class input. However, the problem lies with his Ai's and their grading. The class is only out of a hundred points, so if you bomb the first paper, you are already screwed. If you want to pass the class, you will need to go to the Ai's office hours to get the TRUE directions of the papers. AVOID
Prof. Dalecki was a good professor who I found to be engaging most of the time, but the class structure is poor. The AIs are unreasonably tough and will give you a bad grade on a paper because you didn't put a certain concept in a certain area; all the assignments build up to 100 points, so you can get screwed fast. I don't recommend this class
He is hilarious, if ever decides the professor thing isn't working out he should consider comedy. His lectures are engaging and informative. Attendance isn't graded but if you don't go you won't do well on exams or papers. Grading system isn't ideal, only 3 exams and 3 papers so if you do poorly on a few you won't be able to get an A. Still take it
Professor Dalecki was a great lecturer, however his grading system ruins the class. Everything in the class is graded by his TA's and from my experience, they grade unreasonably hard for a 100 level class. The overall grade of the class is based on 7 assignments and he offers no extra credit.
The class covered extremely basic topics, which can be nice as it doesn't require a lot of critical thinking, but it can also get boring. You are graded by 7 things, all of which adds up to 100 points so you don't have a lot of wiggle room. If you have the option for another class, take it, if not then you'll be okay.
How to ace this class, There are three essays, write them early and go to the AI hours, not his, the AIs grade them so you want them to tell you what to fix. There are also three exams, all the info will be on the class slides, he posts them but they're useless if you don't go to class. Split your studying into two sections, cases and conceptual.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MAN! Felt like I didn't even fail this class... But don't let that fool you, this class is genuinely one of the best intro classes you'll take. The AI's are a bit of bums when it comes to grading (which is why I did poorly), definitely don't underestimate them and the class like I did. Other than that YOU WILL DO FINE!
Good lecturer, was engaging. The AIs graded very particularly, make sure to go to office hours.
Professor Dalecki is passionate and funny. The class is lecture-heavy with few graded assignments. Papers were easy, but exams were tough, questions focused on small lecture details not found in slides or readings, so studying was hard. Still, he's very supportive and helpful.
I love professor Dalecki. His classes are always engaging and fun and he is not only excellent professor but
Took 3 classes with him and got an A every time. This specific class is very good if you're thinking about law school or just interested in the law. In his more politically focused classes, he teaches everything in an unbiased way and is super engaging. Offer him a cig and you'll get an A.
His classes are very lecture heavy but doesn't make you feel bad for stopping to ask questions when needed. He does a good job of making his lectures funny. Attendance is taken but not mandatory and it is not a graded part of the course. As long as you pay attention and take good notes in class you will do well.
Amazing professor. Hilarious, and genuinely knows what he's talking about. He doesn't just teach off the slides. Only 2 papers and 4 exams which adds up to 100 points, but if you study and understand the concepts you'll be good. TA's are more lax this year on grading on papers than they were previous years.
Professor Dalecki is a wonderful lecturer who wants to engage students in law and the legal field. The content is not inherently difficult, but you have to be ready to memorize cases and concepts. To succeed on the papers, you have to go to office hours with the AIs. The tests are mostly multiple choice and true/false, but have some short answer.
Attendence is not mandatory however you should try your best to make most of the classes. Professor posts the slides but they don't really help if you don't go to class. TA's were good and fair at grading one of them was more harsh than the others but still fair. Grade based on 5 tests and 2 essays so cannot bomb any of them.
