This is his first semester at Ventura College. He is an awesome teacher. Makes himself available to students well beyond normal office hours. I highly recommend him
I loved Mr Bennett!! He is very helpful and dedicated to his students. He wants you to pass and is very available for office hrs and xtra hours in tutor center. Gives 7 tests throughout semester so you are not overloaded with info and makes test reviews that he goes over with the class the day before the test. would def take his class again
Awesome Professor. He really helps his students and goes above beyond to help. Take his split Math classes if you struggle with Math, its slower pace and you can better grasp the class.
Very helpful teacher who explains the material very well. There is literally no excuse to fail his class he gives you lots of opportunities to get help, his reviews will prepare you for the test, and he gives bonus points for turning in all your homework and going to class everyday. Highly recommend if you are one that struggles with math.
best math teacher ive had. this course is pretty difficult at times. but bennett explains the material so well. is always down to help you after hours. a lot of office hours so you can come by. will explain something 50 times to you if he has to with a smile. hw is always from book. if you miss a day you miss a lot. fast paced. but amaazing teacher
I only took this class to refresh myself before I continued on being a math major and truly Jack has been an AMAZING teacher. He gives HUGE amounts of examples and if you don't get it he will explain it in a completely different way than before. I do truly wish he was teaching the next math so I could have him help me again.
AWESOME TEACHER! Super helpful, very nice, and works out all the homework during class step by step and wont move on until hes sure you understand the work. Quite a bit of homework but he will help you through it so dont be afraid to ask!
Jack is an amazing teacher. Explains everything very well and doesn't hesitate to explain something you may have forgotten. Such as a trig, or algebra question. Would highly recommend anyone to take any of his classes. True mathematician. "Is everyone ok? Are you sure?"
Dr. Bennett, or Jack as he likes to be called, is hands down the best math professor at Ventura College. The way he explains things, the way he involves the class, he's a superb mathematician. Anyone that take his class will actually learn math, not just memorize monotonous information. He's super approachable. Just a great person to learn from.
Mr. Bennett was great he covered all the material at just the right pace and made sure to clarify. So long as you pay attention in class he'll be totally chill
Jack is by far the best professor at VC He is fun, down to earth and most of all he is extremely smart! He will take his time to make sure everyone understands the material and will give you tricks to handle tough problems. I now love math and actually enjoy coming in to class. He should be teaching all math classes and be in charge of the math dep
Math is not my strongest subject, but Jack made the class a breeze. His lessons are clear and easy to follow along. I always appreciated that when he taught an equation or an idea, he went through the steps to explain why. Extra credit is given for homework and attendance. Incredibly nice man who is very knowledgeable in his field.
He's a great friendly guy. Assigns a good amount of homework per chapter but it is all on your own pace. We just had to turn in the homework on the test date. knows the subject extreamly well and is willing to explain. His lectures are very easy to follow along and will take you step by step. I would definitely recommend taking him.
Im already decent at math, but this teacher convinced me to actually pursue a double major and get a degree in mathematics. Great teacher!
material is hard but Bennett will do anything to help you pass. He holds his office hours in the math center so he can help all his students. He's loves when you ask questions. He will seriously explain something until you understand it. I took him for intermediate algebra as well and loved him. For stats if you do not show up you will be lost.
He homework assignment for algebra and statistics were hard and challenging, but he would help his students to pass his class and understand the material more. Even though he says that he doesn't do test re-takes, he will do it at the end of the semester so students would catch up. I would strongly recommend him again.
Mr. Bennett is an excellent mathematician who is truly passionate for math, you don't even notice the time pass with his teaching. The material can be tough but he is always there for his students, and will make sure you understand, no matter how long it takes. Overall, he is a teacher that you wish you'd had all along, so what are you waiting for?
First math teacher were I received an A. He makes the work seem easier and his tests don't go past the difficulty of the book! Lots of tutoring hours.
Jack is the most helpful teacher he teaches at such a good pace to be able to retain all the info!
Math is difficult enough but Professor Bennett was really nice. A lot of homework. I would suggest going to class because it's really easy to get behind with this subject. Also he has office hours and is very willing to help.
Mr. Bennett is a good Math Professor. He takes his time to make sure everyone understands the subjects. Show up for class because there is new material every time. Lot's of Homework but it's OK, that's how you learn Math.
Bennett is very intelligent and super charismatic. A little bit mono tone, but super clear and always willing to explain. DO NOT fall back on homework you will pay for it. Tests are easy as long as you study. Highly recommend taking him. I am taking him for another math class.
Jack is definitely one of the best teachers in Ventura College. He is a genuinely nice guy and fair and very patient and excellent at explaining and breaking down different math formulas. He has a very open office hour and provides more than enough opportunity outside of class to help his students succeed. I would definitely chose him again.
Jack is an amazing Professor and a true genius! He really takes time to clarify each and every step needed to work out the problems. He was very chill and willing to help you out anytime! He does assign a lot of homework but it does help for tests. Super cool class and learning from him was great! I highly recommend his classes!!
Prof Bennett has literally restored my faith in myself when it comes to math. He teaches from the ground up and all of his lecture notes are incredibly helpful for the tests and final exam. I wish he was teaching Calc B next semester! The homework he assigns is good because he usually assigns odd problems which means you can check your answers
Dr. Jack Bennett is by far my favorite math professor! The lecture was engaging and very clear. I enjoyed Jack's (as he likes to be called) class. I recommend taking this class even if it is not required. Expect a lot of homework! Good Luck!
Jack is a very good teacher. He takes the time to explain the lectures. He makes the class easy to learn giving you step by step instructions to solve problems. I would take Jack's class again if possible. Do not miss any class and do your homework and you will be fine.
I would never take another course with this guy. He does offer limited help outside of class but doesn't respond to emails in a reasonable amount of time. Responses usually are right before the next day of class. Grading scale is extremely poor as the amount of homework will keep you busy all week but only is 10 points. Lecture examples are useless
Jack Bennett is an awesome teacher! He really cares about the students. He wants you to succeed. He offers study sessions outside of class and even when he is busy in his office he will help you with anything. Although lots of homework, it is all worth doing. By the end of the year you will know your stuff. I would defiantly take his class again.
Best math professor at VC!! I learned so much from him, and I would absolutely take him again. He is a really nice guy too. Gives a lot of homework, but if you do it, you'll do good in the class. He gave us practice exams for some of the chapter too. You should take his class if you there are open spots. Awesome teacher.
This teacher goes extremely fast and gives a lot of homework he does reviews on days u don't have class so if u work or have something to do u can't attend so u don't get a review and he doesn't use the calculator to show you how to get the answer or show u how to use the calculator don't take him
Jack is a true professional. I had the luxury of taking him for a few of my math classes. He makes his own lecture notes, explains things in multiple ways, does example problems, and has you work problems. He has a system that works. If you follow it, you will pass with an A. His professionalism reminded me of why I am in school in the first place.
You know how most STEM majors will always mention that one math teacher that really inspired them early in their academic career? Well, here's your chance to get that experience. His lectures are clear, and he strives to show applications, proofs, and the relevance of everything he teaches. Jack has a real passion for math, and it's contagious.
awesome teacher, really helps out. There is homework, but it comes in handy to get everything through your brain and easy points. He gives out practice tests and also allows retest. Really thorough with the way he teachers. I would take him again.
Awesome teacher! For someone that struggles with math (like myself) this is the teacher for you! He very patient and explains every math problems step by step. take him!
I have always struggled with math. Prof Bennett is amazing!!!! He knows what he's doing. His lectures were always clear and straight to point. He teaches in a way that everything makes sense. Don't miss class, do the homework and it all comes together. I would take this prof again for math he's the best! Changed the way I look at math now.
Just because Jack is THE BEST MATH TEACHER EVER, does not mean you will not have to work for that A. The nature of the material for Calc 2 is demanding, but just study the first few problems of each section, and those are the ones on the test. Be sure to do the extra credit project, it is not hard, and it will save your grade.
Best math professor I have ever had, hands down. Convinced me to switch from engineering to a math major. Makes the class enjoyable, and I always looked forward to his lectures. Tests are accurate, and study guides are helpful. Lots of homework assigned, but it's all quite relevant to the course. Would recommend to anyone.
Jack Bennett is the best professor I have ever had. He is so patient and is always willing to answer questions and help. He always gives a study guide before each test and has an extra credit assignment which can increase a test score by 10% He is also very helpful in office hours. I highly recommend this professor.
Best Math proffessor at vc! Do the hw it can save your grade! Also, he offers great review guides which are similiar to the test (Save them! His final is accumulative). Take him if you can and take advantage of his office hours.
I have always struggled with math! I took Jack for Pre stats (V14) his lecture s are clear and he teaches at a pace I understand. He will go over if you don't understand. Take advantage of office hours and he is accessible through email. Do the homework and handouts. His review guides for test are much the same as tests.
He is the best math teacher you will ever have. No questions asked. His class is very hard to get into because the spots fill up quick but if you can take his class DO IT! It will be the best math experience of your life.
He's a god when it comes to Calc 2. I took him for Spring 2017 and I heard that Calc 2 is really hard but with him he makes it seem super easy. Just do all the homework attend all lectures and study study. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who has to take any math course.
Amazing teacher!! Ive never been able to unserstand math but Jack makes things so easy. Gives practice tests almost identical to real tests. Do yourself a favor & take him! I had him for pre stats
Hands down best Math professor at Ventura College.
Wow!! Jack is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He is so caring, patient, and encouraging. He breaks down the subject matter in a way that is very understandable and never moves on to new material until the entire class understands. If you put in the work an A is guaranteed!!
I am lucky to be in his class. Everything is easy to learn because he goes step by step. He can slow down if it is a difficult topic. Always gives test review before the actual test.
Dr. Bennett is perhaps the greatest teacher I have ever had. He is very caring and will not let someone fail, as long as they put in the effort. If you do your best at studying and participating class, you will be guaranteed an A and not because the class is easy.
He really wants you to get math. He loves when you ask questions and never makes you feel dumb for asking anything. I actually am getting math because of him!
I had professor Bennett for calc 1. Hes a good professor, he sometimes makes things much more complicated than they need to be but overall hes good at explaining things. He assigns a ton of unnessary homework which he collects for Points. His lectures are not very interesting but he gives a break and tries to make it more exciting.
He genuinely cares about every student. He is willing to help you in any way he can. Don't skip class because you can fall behind. Yes the homework is very hard and doesn't really help you with the class but if you don't do it it can drop you a whole letter grade! I would take him again he is an amazing teacher!
Math is not my best subject but Prof. Bennett teaches it in a way that's simple to understand. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before moving on with the lecture and encourages students to ask questions. There is a lot of homework, but it helps with the tests. There are no surprises on the tests either, it's all in the notes.
Great math teacher. I am a person who struggles with math regularly and taking his class has made me such a better student. Very interactive and ENCOURAGES QUESTIONS MID LECTURE. Not to mention all of his students have access to the MESA center which is full of math wizards that are more than willing to help anytime. Calc 2 here we go
Prof. Bennett is truly a remarkable person with caring features about his student. He loves working with any type of student and want them to pass. Participate in class to fully understand the subject. BEST MATH PROFESSOR AT VC!
Easily the best teacher you will ever have in college. He manages to make difficult topics like multivariable calculus and differential equations easy to understand. Jack is extremely helpful and truly wants you to succeed. His expectations for students are very clear and reasonable.
A really fun professor! I am not a math fan at all but he made the class way more fun and interesting than I thought. He is also very helpful!
Jack is a nice guy and made Calc 3 about as bearable as possible. He collects homework and there is a lot of assigned problems. His exams are fair. Make sure to master the study guide concepts and you will be golden. Jack is very passionate about his subject. I didn't necessarily look forward to his class, but it was as painless as it could be.
Jack was a very nice guy and is willing to work with students individually but overall not a great professor. Exams were very similar to study guides so as long as you understand enough to do the study guide, you will get an A without difficulty. Take him!!
Jack is truly a great guy! Coming from someone who enjoys math, I particularly enjoyed Jacks teaching methods and how clear he makes his lessons. He is very straight forward, and if you work for the A, you will get it fairly easily. With that said, he is much easier than some other math teachers I have encountered in the past. Great Guy.
Jacks honestly a great math professor. I cannot say enough good things about his teaching skills. He teaches math in a way that is easily understood, even if math isn't your forte. If you participate, go to his office hours, but overall put in the time and effort you can pass with an A. Calc 2 is tough, but he makes it bearable and understandable.
Bennett is my favorite professor ever. He is so nice and caring. Calc 2 is a hard subject but if you put in the work you can get an A in his class. He gives you extra credit on the tests and an extra credit project at the end of the semester to help boost your grade. He also holds office hours in Mesa ,if you are struggling with the class go to it!
The best professor at VC by far. Take him if you can!
Took calc 2 over the summer and Jack is the best math teacher i've ever taken. Only math class I was actually excited to attend everyday. Not an easy A, but put in the time to study homework and notes and you will get an A. Tests are VERY fair. I was driving from Moorpark College since all the math teachers there are horrible!
Everybody says he's the best professor so i took him for Calc 3. He definitely knows the material and is enthusiastic about it, however, he goes really fast. We cover two or three sections a day. This is the only class I've taken from him so maybe he might have gone slower in the other classes but idk.
Amazing lecture! His hand writing is perfectly neat. He doesn't waste students' time. The class is very organized, he doesn't teach super fast, (you'll see how fast other professors go when you transfer). A bunch of extra credits. He makes multivariable as painless as possible!
Jack's stats class is the first math class I've felt confident in in a long time. He teaches at a slow pace and makes sure everyone is following along well before moving on. His tests are easy and there are no surprises. DO THE HOMEWORK AS YOU MOVE THROUGH THE SECTIONS do not wait to do ALL the hw right before the test. 10/10, he's so nice!!
He seems like a genuinely good guy, and a great teacher as well. He made the material clear and easy to follow, and always made sure to answer questions if someone was behind. Very approachable. His tests cover the material nicely. I really appreciated this class, as I never was really a math person.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! I am terrible at math, I always averaged at a C. So when I had to take Stats I was a little scared but Jack makes it so easy and understandable! We went online towards the end of the semester due to COVID and his online lectures remained clear and concise. The class was so easy for me and I'm so lucky to have gotten him as a prof
Best math professor ive had, wish I was able to take him for all of my classes. Makes his lectures very clear and gives good examples. His tests are very straightforward and are pretty much lecture/homework based. Even when we had to switch to online classes he still made the lectures easy to follow. 10/10 would take again.
Professor Bennett is always willing to help and has the mentality that "there's no such thing as a stupid question!" His lectures were very neat and he didn't go too fast. He always made sure questions were asked and he would go around the room to help every student. I would take him again, he's a very genuine person and clearly loves math.
Mr Bennett was a real teacher ! if you didn't understand the homework he would pretty much go back and explain step by step ! Real G !
Bennett is just the absolute peak of math professors. Passionate for the subject, helpful and caring to his students, willing to spend time working over problems with you when you need it, available for help outside of class, etc. Spending time outside of class talking to him he is just such a wholesome and great person, 200% reccomended.
Once he tried to get people to work in groups to encouraging socializing despite the pandemic. It didnt really work as well and was sometimes made lecture longer than it had to be. Otherwise though, he was extremely helpful, a good teacher, understanding, and responds quickly to emails and questions.
10/10 prof. He genuinely asks the class if there are any questions. Students are more open to ask during class because he is SO helpful and approachable. Good math profs are hard to come by but hes prime! Tests are very fair! He walks through lots of example problems which is very helpful and engaging. I respect him as an educator 100%
He's very passionate about the subject and gives great lectures. But his homework was a lot of work, he used a webassign program to give all his quizzes, tests, and homework. The homework would take days to complete per week. He also makes you work with other students on zoom and makes sure you're working together or gives you a pop quiz.
I heard a lot of good things about Bennet so I decided to take him to meet my math requirement (stats) and I am so glad that I did! I am usually SO bad at math, like terrible honest, but Bennet just explains everything so well! It's almost fun, (hey I said ALMOST) He has a lot of patience and he has changed my whole perspective on math.
Bennett is AWESOME!! If you have ANY questions, he's there. He lays things out very clearly during the lecture and online via video (I took this during COVID online). He's passionate about this and he acts like no question is a dumb question which I love in a teacher. The pearson homework platform isn't terrible, you have infinite attempts at 100%
Jack is the best teacher I have ever had! So beyond caring about his students. Stats is not easy but he goes beyond the extra mile to give you the help you ask for. If you put in the time and effort you will get an A. If you need take take stats and Ventura College, take it with Jack you will not regret it.
One of the best, maybe the best, math teacher at Ventura College. He is very understanding to questions and willing to take the time to explain things, he has a lot of homework but is very responsive toward email and willing to help. His Zoom lectures are engaging and his online videos are phenomenal, he teaches better than the book.
We used WebAssign to do our homework. If you use Chegg, you can just search up the answers and buy yourself an A
By far the best prof I have ever had, his lectures are fantastic and he really cares about his students. He does give a very large amount of homework but it's worth it for the great instruction. I really can't say enough good things about this professor.
He is the best of the best! Professor Jack is the kindest person I have ever seen. He is so helpful!
It was a pleasure to have Prof. Bennet for both Diff EQ and Calc 2. He is very nice and will work with you to make sure you understand difficult concepts. His lectures are very helpful and the homework and tests are very fair. If you can, take Jack Bennet.
His class is a lot of work and you have to be ready for that. But he is genuinely the best math teacher I have ever had and i made sure to get him every opportunity. Ive never recommended a teacher more. Especially for hard classes like Calc, linear algebra, and differential equations. You wont regret taking this class.
Great math teacher! one of the best! took over summer, there was a lot of HW but it is easy to get As on them. test and quizzes are pretty easy. Calc 2 is very hard but he makes it simple and easy. He answers to emails usually on the same day.
Jack is great! I've taken him for V21A and V21B so far, and hopefully for V21C next semester. He's very knowledgeable about math and cares for his students. He's one of the only profs I've ever had who will NEVER make you feel stupid for asking a question. Tests are basically a review of the homework, with multiple chances and no time limit.
Professor Bennet was the best math teacher Ive ever had. He understands math very well and also knows how to explain it. The quizzes and tests were very fair and matched the homework problems exactly. Gave extra credit opportunities and was easy to reach out to. I would definitely take him again!
Professor Bennett is one of the best math teachers I ever had! I was so nervous about taking statistics because I honestly suck at math but I ended up enjoying his class. He is very passionate and caring! The only thing I would complain about is that he gives a lot of homework each week but overall homework and quizzes/exams are very fair.
Oh yeah! Prof. Bennett is the real deal. I always looked forward to his classes, which were engaging and loaded with insight as to how the lecture material relates to the outside world. He is absolutely the nicest prof. I've ever had. + He answers emails quickly, thoroughly, and signed with his best regards. No wonder everyone loves him.
There's a lot of homework but if you put in the time and effort, you should get an A. He is very good at explaining and walking you through each topic. Because he is so thorough it can become boring, so I just put his lecture videos on 1.5x speed. The in-person part of the class allowed us to learn how to use the Tech which was really helpful.
Took him for V21A, V21B, and V21C and I wish I could take him for all my future math courses. He has such an amazing way of explaining things and will go over them with you until you get it. I definitely recommend going to office hours to go over homework/test questions you missed.
I took this course in 6 weeks over the summer and have never gotten a better understanding of math before. Professor Bennett goes over the concepts rather than just throwing formulas at you which made me really enjoy math. His class definitely isn't super easy but everything is very fair and you should do well. I strongly recommend taking him.
Awesome teacher! His grading system made the class easy and made me love math. Most of the grading is off of homework rather than exams, it took off a lot of pressure and made me actually want to learn. There's plenty of extra credit too. Grading aside, Jack made me feel welcomed, he was funny, respectful, and wants to see you grow. Amazing class.
Homework was 40% of the grade, he put up the final on canvas and gave you a week to fill it out, during which you could talk with your classmates about each problem. Fantastic professor.
Great teacher but honestly get ready for the work load. 2 lectures, 2 hw assignments with 15+ Questions, and discussion post a week. Overall though he was always available when u needed help and great at teaching!
It is just so much unnecessary information that clouds the actual importance of each chapter. Less focus on actually learning the stuff since there is so much busy work to accomplish. More work than all my other classes combined. However, seems relatively easy to get a good grade but I would assume there are better professor who teach the material.
The class grading is failry fair and seems easy to keep a decent grade for the class. The only issue is amoun of homework that personnally takes 2 days to complete. As there much more work and feels likes theres less time to fully be able to understand the material.
Overall just a great teacher but be careful of slipping up on the hw, notes, or discussions. Def attend class as it helps a lot.
Dr. Bennett's class was hybrid, where you take notes on your own and lecture is more of a review day. Homework is a lot and weighted Heavily towards your grade. Instead of another midterm, he assigns a Pi project. He also does a great job of preparing students for exams. The only critique of Dr. Bennet are his office hours get backed up.
Took Bennet for Calc 2 and 3 along with linear algebra and he's a great guy! For Calc 2 and 3 the hw load makes sense and is actually helpful at times, but linear algebra being a 3 unit class and having the same workload as a 5+ unit class was a bit ridiculous. However, he's a VERY generous grader so it's easy to get an A, just spend time on hw
His Calc 2 class was inspirational to me. There were moments in this class where we were all left in awe, I've never had a professor do that in my entire life. I have never met someone whom I respect their understanding of a subject more than Jack. He opened my understanding of what higher level math could be and how beautiful it really is.
Absolutely wonderful teacher. Really cares about his students and is extremely engaging.
Took him for Summer 6-week course, the best decision ever. There is a lot of lecture/homework but considering its a 6 week class everything is well condensed, just do one or two assignments a day and you'll be fine. Only tests are Midterm and Final (group tests). He is very caring and attentive, will help with anything. Best teacher ever!
The best Professor I've ever had. I took him for Calc 2, and he made me more interested in math and his teaching style is excellent. He truly cares about his students, and is willing to provide help out of class. 100% would take him again!
Dr. Bennett was amazing, I had him for calc 2 and for linear algebra. He is caring and if you at least try to put in the effort he will reward you. He is a human and understands math can be hard for some people and will help you if you ask for it. He provides great feedback on his grading and he had midterms and finals graded within a few days!
This is the best math professor I have ever had! He made everything super understandable! The math professors at Moorpark should run their class the way he does. I also like how he assigned specific homework problems that he knew would prepare us for the exam. Always chose him to be your math professor!
Professor Bennett is the best math teacher I've ever had in college. He explains the concepts very well and I learned a lot from him. His is set up to where your grade is spread out between notes, homework, and two exams. This class did have a ton of work, but it's a 5 unit college math class in 6 weeks so it's expected. I HIGHLY recommend Bennett.
Linear algebra is one of the hardest classes I've taken conceptually, but Bennett is great at explaining them. He is very available to help with students and goes out of his way to thoroughly answer every question. This class is a lot of work (10+ hours a week) but everything helps your grade. Watch 3B1B on youtube for a way to visualize the class.
THE MATH GOAT AT VC
Professor Bennett was so great. I've never been good at math and always have had a hard time understanding mathematical concepts, but Bennett had such great lectures; organized, clear, well spoken and always made time for questions. Even outside of class, when doing the homework, he was very easily reachable and responded promptly.
Words can't explain how much I love this teacher. He cares so much for his students success and knows the subject so well and its nice to see how much he loves what he teaches. Bennet is THE calc teacher.
By FAR the best Professor I have ever had in my college career. I took him for Linear Algebra and he made the subject so interesting and easy to understand that Im not sure why its a high level math. His lectures are awesome and he is SUPER accessible outside of class. Best professor ever!
From Spring 23 : Professor Bennett was great, truly cares about the students and the subject Class had very heavy amount of notes and homework to do (but very helpful /detailed work) (and proofs! be ready) If you have a lot going on in life outside please make sure you can handle the heavy workload this class entails, because YOU WILL WRITE A LOT!
Jack Bennett is easily the best math teacher I've ever had. He goes at the pace of the class and will ensure that everyone is on the same page before moving on. It's still a challenging class, but this is the best professor to take calculus.
He is very nice but his teaching style is not for me. Material for exams had to be memorized 100% & exam questions had no directions. He assigned LOTS of time consuming hw that often took many days to complete. Lectures had to be watched at home in conjunction with attending class. It was a lot. I found a diff prof that made it easier to understand
Jack is my favorite prof I've ever had. He's attentive, eloquently spoken, patient, and a very fair grader. Jack took Calc 2 and made it easy to learn. He is the first prof. I had that made me love math. He will answer any and all questions and is super communicative. He values your education/success. I wish I could take every class with him. :)
Bennet, is one of the most caring instructors I've ever had. He truly wants every student to succeed and it shows in the way he teaches, communicates, and supports his class. He's patient, encouraging, and always willing to help, whether it's during office hours or through extra resources. Quite literally one of the best professors I've had.
Great guy. But he assigns a lot of homework especially for a 3 unit class. Homework is more difficult than what we're expected to know. The tests were hard, we didn't get notecards for formulas. One of the toughest graders. I think he has many exams to grade and doesn't take time to analyze the work carefully. Overall I would recommend him though.
He's a great guy. That said, NOT and easy A. One of the toughest graders I've encoutered on tests, expect to work for an A and not make one mistake on the exam (ie half credit for one arithmetic error). He assigns a ton of homework, difficult to get done with other classes. BUT, many people like him, and I can definitely see why.
Professor Bennet was a great teacher but the amount of Homework was nearly overwhelming especially for a 3 unit class the amount of Hw assigned can easily overwhelm somebody with priorities outside of class. A complex understanding of the material is needed for passing the exams which are the majority of the grade. Despite this I would take again
G.O.A.T., literally. I have always struggled with math and was stressed knowing I had to take Statistics. Well, let me tell you... DR. JACK BENNETT IS A LIVING MATH LEGEND! My whole life I had to seek help from tutors but not with his class! I am shocked that I finally understood it all because of him! My B+ is like an A+++ to me! I 100% recommend!
Professor Bennett was outstanding. Took 4 week summer course and its a given there was lots of work since it's so condensed, but was able to pass with an A. He gave up to 85% credit for late work which saved my grade, and he is so responsive to emails, veryy clear grading criteria. Highly recommend.
This was for summer school, and honestly, it was rough to learn all of this stuff in 3.5 weeks. However, the specific assignments, including the notes, homework, and discussions were well balanced in the grading system. The exams were on the easier side, but I struggled with them a bit. Best recommendation is to take math at Ventura or Oxnard.
Took over 6wk format and fully online. Modules open up weekly. Mandatory/graded notes, assignments, & discussions weekly. Midterm & final taken in person with a EC bonus question. Study guide fully reflects what will be on exam with answers provided. Responds to emails quickly. Hosts office hours 2x/wk. Dropped lowest discussion & notes grade.
Calc 3 over the summer was the third class I have taken with Jack. Before I took this class I had him for Calc 2 and Differential Equations. He is so passionate about what he teaches I looked forward to going to class everyday and the way he runs his classes is extremely fair. The homework and study guides reflect what he will test you on.
he does his lectures by hand and that was too much writing for me.
(18 weeks) For anyone considering him for spring, don't hesitate! Not a math person and was afraid an online course would be too difficult, but this is the easiest class on my schedule! 2 weekly homework assignments (15-20 Qs), 2 sections of notes (time-consuming but helpful), and one super-easy discussion. Heavy schedule? Take him to lessen it!
The goat. I had calc 3 and Diff Eq with him as well. Homework was somewhat hard and long but it made the tests look easy.
Professor Bennett, is a great professor at teaching but when it comes to grading he sucks. The homework doesn't really matter much just his three exams and the final exam.
loved prof bennett. he knows his subject well, is helpful, and his overall vibe/energy is super chill and calming. gives great lectures, does multiple problems with you step by step which is highly effective for learning. would love to take as much math as possible with him, his teaching style makes it all make sense to me. clear grading criteria.
