He is a nice man, but he does humilate you but in a way he is trying to help you learn how to speak in public.

I found him very engaging. He is such a great speaker himself, he wants everyone to get to that level. Leave your inhibitions behind, if you are serious about public speaking, Jack Byer is the professor for you.

The best teacher for effective speaking, made the class worth paying for and coming to everyday. Also helps to pronounce every ending of a letter!! I recommend him to anyone taking effective speaking.

Jack is awesome. I've never looked forward to going to class before! His class was always fun. He has a way of humiliating you, but at the end, he did it to everyone so it's not so bad! I'd definitely recommend him if you want a fun class

Definetly a yuppie, and definetly plays favorites (espically with the moms in the class!!). But he does do a really good job of teaching this class. You become a much better public speaker.

He is a great teacher, his class helps a lot but he needs to give sometime to go over few things in every chapter.

He does embarass you alittle bit and sometimes you feel like an ass, but like he said in the beginning of the semester, "If you feel like an ass up here, then your doing it right!"

Jack is a very caring and helpful man. He is so cool. You can hand in late papers and he will not care, just as long as you DO hand them in. By far one of the BEST teachers I have ever had.

GREAT TEACHER! The Final is alright as long as you remember to save all of your papers and tests! He is Fair and will not penilize you for his mistakes. I throughly enjoyed this class and seriously going to take him for another class! Thanks Jack!

Jack is the best! I'm fairly sure I'm one of the "moms" that another poster referred to. I call sour grapes! I don't think he played favorites at all. He's very fair and fun. If you don't get an A in this class it's on you not Jack! Students are given every chance to succeed. All you have to do is put a little effort into it. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!

His class is kinda fun but the homework assignments have nothing to do with what he teaches. Sorry jack youre a great guy but i cant learn life lessons and communication in one class, its hard to do my homework cause its like a whole differnt class when im not in it.

Jack is by far the best teacher that I have had while at Bucks. I highly recommend him to everybody. If you have to take a speech class then take his! I'm kinda upset that today was our last day of class so that should give you an idea as to how good he is!

Great teacher. I got an A because i did the max of extra credit that he offers which is 35 pts. So i would have gotten a B if not for the extra credit. His class is relaxed but you still do learn A LOT about life and communicating with others. I highly reccommend his class.

People who left negative comments to Mr.Byer should be ashamed to themselves. Mr. Byer's class is very interesting. He is the best public speaker I've ever seen. If I had a chance, I would take his other classes. Also, the amount of work I've done in his class is no where near to composition classes, so don't be scared.

Jack Buyer is the coolest guy you will ever meet. His class is sweet. There's a lot of written work, but it's all really easy stuff. Take this guy he's cool as hell.

Walks you through each step in your major speeches and is very understanding.Definetely take him and get public speaking out of the way its not as bad as you think,at all i actually enjoyed it

It's a required course for almost all majors. You have to attend class and participate. Lots of busy work with take home quizzes and internet exercises, but overall not too bad. Offers lots of extra credit. He is quite serious about the speeches. Come prepared, do the pre-speech conferences & take advantage of his help. Nice guy!

Jack Byer's class will be the best class you take. On the first day of class he makes you get to know everyone by playing a name game. The game made you comfortable in front of everyone. He's a really easy grader. the quizzes are easy ane all take home. The internet connetions are a pain but as long as you meet the page requirement you'll be good.

I would not recommend taking this class as a summer course. There are 3 speeches; 2 include research and work cited pages. They are time consuming, and if incomplete you will not receive a good grade. Jack is fair, offers extra credit, but he is not an easy grader. Do exactly as he instructs, and you will be fine. Interesting, nice guy.

Jack is amazing. You will share alot of life experiences in this class and learn loads about yourself and others. There are a few presentations but most of the time its just discussion. MAKE SURE YOU DO ALL THE PAPERS ON TIME AND SHOW UP FOR CLASS. Those are the only two requirements to do well. Hes a loving, caring guy. Take him!!!!

Mr.Byers class is one of, if not the best class I have ever taken. His style of teaching is very unique and the class is very good for those who like hands on activities and interaction. In a packet he thoroughly explains all the assignments that he expects to be handed in. Fun, easy and different!

I took Jack for effective speaking and interpersonal communication. He does assign a lot of writing(similar to COMP classes) but his classes are fun and entertaining. You learn a lot in his classes.I enjoy coming to his classes everyday, which is a rarity for school. If you come to class and participate, you will succeed =]

Jack is a great guy, but his class is VERY difficult especially when it comes to homework which is about six hours every-time an assignment is given. Very warm in-class environment though and a very nice person like i said. Take him but be prepared for the workload that follows.

He gives you a LOT of busywork and homework almost every night. But he's a really interesting and great guy. Smart and an awesome public speaker. A little unorganized sometimes, though he has good intentions. You have to give 3 big speeches. He explains everything in the syllabus. His class is a lot of work but he's pretty entertaining.

I've learned so much, without even realizing it, and the first class he had us play games to learn everyone's name and now everyone in the class is so close-its great.

Dr. Jack is a brilliant professor. English is my second language;however, i was able to get an A on his class. I was worried about my accent;but, told me not worry about it. i learned so much on his class. he is such a funny character and i enjoyed his class. take him, highly recommended it.

Easily one of the greatest experiences at BCCC. Getting through that class was like climbing the worlds tallest social mountain. Tip for anyone taking him: If he asks for Volunteers, Volunteer! Every Point adds up at the end toward your grade. Every little point is precious. He gives points to volunteers.

Jack is the kind of professor you will remember forever. He lights up the classroom upon entry, and always greets his students. The course is fairly demanding, a healthy amount of writing, 3 major speeches, but just follow the formula he teaches, as far as speech delivery and preparation, and you cannot go wrong! I received an A in the course ;)

i love jack. he is full of energy and cares a lot about his students. he has a way to bring a whole class of strangers together to form friendships. the only thing that i didn't like was we didn't always follow the syllabus so we never knew when anything was officially due. other than that i definitely recommend his class. it's a lot of fun!

I've taken both of Jack's classes, not because I actually needed them for my major, but because he is just that great of a professor. The expectations for the student are clearly outlined in the syllabus, if you are willing to actually read it. It's your responsibility to make sure work is handed in on time. Jack doesn't always stay on track with the syllabus, but he puts the focus on the relational part of the class, which is what its all about. He is an outstanding teacher.

Greatest teacher I've ever taken. Everything is spelled out in the syllabus which youll need for the whole semester. As long s you TURN IN the work, you can easily get a good grade. Speeches were easier than i thought and he is VERY fair. Highly reccommend!!

Jack Byer is a great teacher. Seeing as the class was public speaking I was quite afraid to enter the class but he makes it much more comfortable than that of the other classes offered at BCCC.Prepare to work hard because especially in the beginning this class is no walk in the park. Three speeches are required. Tribute, Informative, & Persuasive.

Jack Byer is a very pleasant man. He takes great interest in his students and does not sugar coat his critiques. If you really want to learn how to speak in public, I would recommend Mr. Byer, because he's organized, clear in regards to assignments, and if you do the work he assigns it's a really easy class! If you fail, it's not because of Jack.

must be well prepared for all speeches. gives a lot of work, but very manageable. teaches you a lot about public speaking. I got an A in the class, and thought it was an easy course to get through. he taped some of the speeches, but i thought that was cool so you could watch how you did while talking

Jack Byer is one of the best professors that I've ever had, and I have had many. Just finishing my master's now. He will put the work in if you do. And although he's there to help, he will expect you to take care of yourself, stay organized, and keep up with the class. He will not baby you, but he love's hard workers. This guy can change your life.

Jack is the best professor I have taken at Bucks. He got the entire class to put them selves out in the open, and it was the only class at Bucks I bonded with. Somewhat tough grader, but has constructive criticism and is fair. Would highly recommend, and would just say put some time into speech preparation.

Jack was a great teacher who made a class that I wasn't really looking forward to taking interesting. He was very passionate about what he was teaching and did a good job at trying to get people involved.
