Jack Byrd is the man. You will get an easy A and plenty of e-mails. Very helpful, he will send you an e-mail if you need help. I wish Jack Byrd could teach all of my classes.

He is a good guy and trys to help everyone out. This was a lot of work for a 1 credit hour course though. I still recieved my A even though I probably should have gotten a B. He also will work tyo find you an internship if you are an IE student.

Good guy

The class is extremely easy...your covered there. He is extremely boring and the course is retarded. He doesn't seem that exciting of a teacher...but meh...he might be good for something further down the line. Easy class...do the work, you get an A.

The class is boring, of course, because it's an intro class, but as long as you do the work, the guy is GREAT! I'd take him again anytime, because he is truely helpful!

I was very impressed with Dr. Byrd's professional attitude and respect of students. The class was useful and he was willing to help students with any problems that arose. Probably one of the best at WVU!

His class is super boring and he kinda creeps me out sometimes. He does this strange thing with his hands alot and you can never tell what he is looking at. But the class is easy besides that.

Easy class. Just do the homework. Dr. Byrd was very helpful and can answer almost any question. Very knowledgable.

Dr. Byrd makes you work your butt off in his Senior Design class. The work isn't hard, it is just takes time to complete. It becomes all worth it when he helps you get a job and you MAE friends don't even get interviews with companies. He will help you out in finding a job. Most professors don't put their own neck on the line for you like he does!

Dr. Byrd is an all around great guy. He is willing to help you out even if he isn't your advisor. He doesn't really teach you much because the class is mostly presentations from the various engineering departments.

He's a great guy! He is so helpful and wants to see everyone succeed! He will do anything in his power to make your life easier! I picked industrial engineering just b/c he's such a great guy! Enough said.

This guy is the BOMB! The class is basically pointless, but a requirement for ENGR majors. If you forget to do an assignment, you can either email it to him, or turn it in the next class. He would go out of his way to help absolutely anyone with school. The work in this class is also SUPER EASY!

Dr. Byrd is the best. He's a good and fair teacher, and an EXCELLENT adviser. He puts the time into knowing your schedule, grades, and background so that he can really pick the best classes for you. He'll also help with study abroad, internships, scholarships, or anything.

He is very nice and the class is really easy. He seems knowledgeable about everything. I don't think ive missed a point yet, he just gives 10/10 on all papers. Also, if you have a summer reading assignment for honors,dont stress over it cause he grades it

ENGR 199 is more informational sessions than a class, and they are indeed very informational. Dr. Byrd is full of wisdom and advice every day and you should feel adequately prepared once the semester ends. As a class, all assignments are extremely simple (maybe a paragraph per week) and it's hard not to get an A.

Great professor. He is really helpful with study habits and is always there to help you, even if you don't have him as a professor. As for the class, it's easy and no one should fail it. If you fail engr 199 then you just didn't show up at all and didn't try.

The thing about Dr. Byrd is that he teaches over 800 students and cares about every single one of them. Easy and informative class taught by one of the greatest professors you'll have in college.

Great Professor! Really helped me out when I was having trouble in some of my classes and with other professors. He was also very informative in class and really cares about all of his students. He is always available to help you out you just have to take advantage of it. The class is really easy as well!

Best teacher I've ever had. He is always willing to help his students and he gives you the feeling that the education that you get from WVU will get you somewhere important as an Industrial Engineer.

Dr. Byrd was and is an amazing professor. I'm sad to leave his class that's how great of a professor he is. However, Dr. Byrd will advise and talk to any student about anything. I had him for E199, IE200 and IE220. His classes are easy as long as you keep up with the work. Next year will be his 50th teaching year and he's amazing! Take him!!

Dr. Byrd is one of the nicest people ever. The class was very easy, and there was no textbook. Homework consisted of short, weekly surveys about adjusting to college, life choices, etc. He is genuine and always willing to help. He still helped advise me even though I wasn't in industrial engineering. All-around awesome guy. Highly recommend!

Great guy. Very nice. Tries to help every single engineering student at WVU and it shocks me the length he is willing to go to help. His class was almost like a pump up lecture. I would feel like I knew what I was doing and could survive my other courses for the week.

Jack Byrd is by far one of the most helpful professors at WVU. The lectures in ENGR 199 are all extremely meaningful and prepare you for the first semester of college extremely well. He is very good at getting you excited about your education. All around amazing guy, and goes to lengths to help students out.

Most boring class ever taken, but can breeze by with an A if you go to class and do the weekly assignments that take less than 15 minutes.

I don't even know where to start. Doctor Byrd is by far the best professor I have ever had. He helped me in so many different ways and still is. I can not thank him enough for the things he has done for me. I'm really finding a hard time to describe how great of a professor Dr Byrd is. Don't even think twice and take him.

I missed a few assignments and skipped class 3 or 4 times so I could have easily gotten a better grade. Attendance is worth 10 points a class and there is a small homework assignment each week for 10 points. He is a great professor and was really helpful.

Infamous Jack Bryd. He is real helpful but 199 is a joke and really just annoying to go to. It seems like Jack Bryd hour or department presentations. Emails are ridiculous, where one finds the time to type so many emails is beyond me.

Jack Byrd is the man to say the least. Engineering 199 is a huge joke though. He will help you with anything at the university though. He is a great resource. Attending his class however isn't mandatory. Just work out a deal with a friend to alternate weeks going and filling out attendance quizzes for each other.

Assignments every class, but they are not difficult. He really knows his stuff and every exam is open notes. Attendance is mandatory and there are often in class extra credit assignments.

Absolutely an amazing man. This class was pretty clear cut, show up and write down the examples. All the tests are open book. If you need help with anything life can throw at you he is your man. He is passionate about IE and makes me feel I chose the right major.

He will essentially walk through fire to see you succeed. He reaches out to all of his students, and pays special attention to the kids who work hard for C's. If you are on Dr. Byrd's team, he will put a lot of effort into getting you in classes you need, finding you internships and helping with personal problems. His classes are easy, but useful.

There is probably not a single professor more valuable at WVU.

His orientation class is very helpful, he provides you with a lot of information that, if you listen to, will help your transition to college and understanding how it works immensely.

He has taught more students at WVU than any other Professor in the University's history. He told us that he would actually make more money if he retired, but he continues to teach because he truly loves his job. He loves helping any and all students, he wants to see us all succeed. He might actually be Dumbledore reincarnated.

He is like the father figure of the engineering department. Expect to learn useful information about college and building your career. Very easy A for the class as well.

There is a weekly assignment that is very easy, and there are no tests. As long as you have good attendance and do most of the assignments, it's should be a very easy A.

Dr. Byrd is the single best teacher I have ever had in the history of my education. He truly cares for every student of his and makes an effort to help in every way he can. He offers lots of extra credit and his class is solely attendance and homework based. Show up and you will pass class as long as you do the homework too.

I feel bad for all of you that won't be able to experience engineering 191 with this man. I'm sure he's just as great at teaching everything else as he is guiding freshman engineers through the ins and outs of college life. You could go to him with any problem in any aspect of your life and he'll figure out a way to help. Great man.

If you ever get the chance to take a class taught by Dr. Byrd, do it. Probably the best professor you will ever have. He is always available through email, office hours, and etc to help. He truly wants to see all of his students succeed. If you ever need advice or help with anything go to him.
