He is probably the coolest English instructor I have ever met. His classes are never dull and he is always willing to answer questions and provide help and guidance when needed.

He's pretty cool, really chill and liniant on work and some of the essays .. hes really helpful on thing you really dont understand , has pretty cool stories of himself "BACKintheDAY" (: and the work is pretty easy. never had hw only study you book d ull be fine.

He's a great teacher, I admit that. But I never felt like I was learning anything. It was mostly group work and doing essays. This class is an easy class to pass as long as you do the group work and read the readings. If you want an easy class to just pass by and not learn anything then I recommend him.

I had Flynn this semester, he is honestly a really harsh grader I feel, Your grade is centered around these dumb book quizzes and a few essays. Make sure you do well on the book quizzes cause you dont realize how important they are !

Just had Mr. Flynn this semester, and he was an excellent teacher! Funny guy, easy to get along with. There are 12 quizzes on assigned reading in the semester, and they count for a lot of your grade, so reading and attending class is mandatory!

English is my major and Mr.Flynn was an amazing teacher. I learned so much in his class and he is extremely knowledgable. Make sure you read every time it is assigned to you! Best english teacher I have ever taken!

Mr. Flynn is one of the most awesome instructors I had. He does quiz you on every reading assignment twice a week but its easy, just read the book. Class time is usually spent working on group assignments. He gives interesting essay topics as an assignment. He's pretty laid back. Simply put, take his class! You will not regret it.

I've never had an English teacher that's more clear about what they want on their assignments. He gives you a detailed description of each essay you have to write, & is extremely helpful in the writing process. I absolutely improved as a writer. He's funny, animated, and really makes the class fun and interesting. Definitely my favorite professor!

Probably one of the few greats at Grossmont as far as the English department goes. He knows what he's talking about, and his assignments are straight forward. He's a fair grader and a very interesting and fun lecture. His class is well-structured and I can always go in knowing what to expect, which I love. Definitely recommended for all.

He is such a great professor with a good sense of humor. He is very clear about the assignments. You will have daily quizzes but they are not too difficult. Also he is a fair grader! You will learn alot in his class.

Seriously, why doesn't this guy have tenure yet? He's probably one of the best teachers I've ever had for an English class. He has a personality that is far beyond banal, his diction is impeccable, he has a friendly demeanor, his assignments are meaningful, and his essays enable you to become a better writer.

Professor Flynn was great--he's funny and makes the class interesting. While the assignments were not the easiest, with good effort and creativity it is difficult to do bad in his class. I very much enjoyed his class, and if he teaches higher level english classes I would go to him again.

Flynn was a very good teacher that allowed his students to speak freely about different opinions. Class is easy, just do the reading quizzes and do the essays. He is straight forward with answers and is very funny.

Great instructor! His class is interesting & he is a nice man. He is kind of a hard grader, but he helps you with everything you need. So clear with the subjects. Recommended if you want to learn and be a better writer. By the way, if you are an ESL student, you have to work harder.

Mr. Flynn is hands down my favorite teacher at GM. 4 take home essays (last one is a research paper), a midterm, and a final. You review each other's papers but I highly recommend sending your essay to Mr Flynn early for corrections and help. textbooks are vital. Lots of easy reading quizzes provide plenty of points but can't be made up. Recommend!

Mr Flynn is a great teacher! I took this class over summer. It was fast paced, but the instruction was clear, and the work easy. 3 Essays, midterm, mini research paper, and a final. The worst part of the class are the reading assignments and quizzes. The reading is arduous and the quizzes tough. There is also some group work involving the reading.

Great teacher his lectures were always interesting to me I feel like my writing really improved after taking this class he's super straight forward about what he wants in his essays and gives plenty of time to develop them lastly his quizzes are easy (as long as you do the homework)

He's really sweet guy going to be my 3rd time taking him now he is a really great English teacher a bit strict on grading but that's only because he wants you to be better! Do expect to put your textbook to use because all the reading will be a short quiz! But he does help you with anything you'll need. Does go a bit off topic but pretty intresting

He is an amazing teacher. He loves to talk and he has some great stories to tell. His class is very engaging and I was interested the whole time. He is very honest in his editing of essays but he gives good feed back. He is super funny I would take him again if I could.

good easy teacher . If you read the assigned pages, you will pass the quizzes . Also take his advice on how to write your papers and you will improve . If you seem not to be good in your essays , pass all the quizzes and that can help you stay in a passing grade .

Flynn is a great prof. He has a dry humor but he WILL make you a better writer. I've been published (not bragging, just saying) and I was learning things I never had before. If you need help- ask him, he won't coddle you but he does care. DON'T miss class! He will drop you. Seriously. If you put in the effort, your class will be rewarding.

Not really a fan for English, but I actually really enjoyed his class. He assigned about 5 papers over the semester, but they were actually enjoyable. He gives good feedback on every essay and will help you if you need it. He also has peer reviews so it's not only him helping you improve. Would definitely take him again.

This professor was amazing. He made me become a writer I never knew I could be. I was worried about ENG 120 because I felt english was my weakest subject. What I was able to learn from Professor Flynn made me a better writer and I received an A in his class. He does not grade easy, but he does grade fairly. You just have to put in the time/effort.

I had absolutely no trouble with this class. Mr. Flynn did an amazing job of presenting everything you needed to know when you needed to know it. You'll not regret taking any of his classes. He gives plenty of freedom to write papers the way you need to.

Professor Flynn's class was a delight. He was very helpful with his topics and explains assignments down to a T, you should be able to follow his directions to an A if you listen and pay attention. He is fun, passionate and shares wonderful relevant stories. I'd love to take more classes with a professor who shares his same personality.

Prof Flynn was one of my favorite teachers this semester, and you can tell he loves his job. He does give quizzes on the reading, and you don't want to do too badly. He drops your two lowest scores, and the questions are easy, you just need to remember specific details from the writing. He assigns 3 essays and 1 research paper. Very open and fun :)

Professor Flynn cares about writing well. If you want to learn how to be a better writer, then take this class. Apply yourself, start early on projects , and read the chapters. He will give A's when they are deserved. I came out of the class a better writer.

Mr. Flynn is really professional. Very friendly person and helpful. He will stay after the class and help you until you reach your goals. However, if you don't show up or you use your cell phone during the class, you better look for a different class. Amazing experience ever.

Mr. Flynn is a great English professor! He's very approachable and teaches great writing techniques. I'm so glad I took his class because my writing improved tremendously, which really helps not only other classes but jobs as well. He was very thorough with his lessons, yet he had a light sense of humor which made the class enjoyable.

He is an awesome teacher. If you want to learn the rules of writing he is definitely the way to go. I took him for two semesters, and never was confused about my questions he answered. I suggest if you have questions ask them because he will make it clear for you to understand. Throat lectures but you have to be present mentally and physically.

English 110 primarily consists of composing essays, and Professor Flynn strives to ensure you understand the material to create a brilliant paper. This professor is very organized, fair and seems to actually care about the progression of his students writing abilities. This professor doesn't let you walk on him with your excuses, but it's a good dose of reality. Your writing will definitely improve if you follow the clear instructions provided and attend class regularly. Blackboard isn't used

There are readings that will be followed by a quiz every time. He makes it really hard for you to procrastinate by assigning peer reviews and rough draft dates before the final draft. Solid teacher, but if you don't do the work, you for sure won't pass the class. Very approachable and willing to help as well. I recommend him to everyone.

Professor Flynn is the kind of guy who I want to have a glass of champagne and a few lines of blow with. He is awe-inspiring; get to know him and his kind hearted being. I took him for both English 110 and 120, and left a review of his 110 class a little further down. This review is a year late, but Flynn is university quality and a gem professor.

Mr. Flynn is positively amazing! He truly cares for each of his students and their progress. You will need the textbook from day one, you will need to be able to follow directions well, and you will need to be willing to truly earn your grade. There is basically no extra credit, so you will need to actually do the work but it's so worth it!

With the reading tests some are a bit nit-picky with the questions, but besides that I have no other complaints. On essays he is very thorough with what needs to be done and what he is expecting, and topics are usually interesting. He really cares about your progression as a writer, and will always answer questions when needed. Great guy too!

Excellent professor, you need to read material if you want to pass his quizzes. His grading criteria is very clear, simple points system. You do work, you get points, the points equal your grade. Group assignments throughout the semester. Professor does not have office hours.

Professor Flynn was an exceptional English 120 professor. Being my first ever semester of college I was kinda nervous, I didn't know what to expect. Before taking Professor Flynn's ENG 120 class I was writing at a C level, but the methods Professor Flynn uses to teach helped me understand and evaluate my writings more. Highly recommend for ENG 120.

Professor Flynn is a passionate teacher which is sometimes hard to come by. He truly cares for his students and the work that they produce. I'm very appreciative towards the fact that I'm a more confident writer following this class. His Lectures are very inclusive and inspiring. He's an excellent example of an incredible English professor!

Extremely understanding about online learning. His class actually teaches you to be a better writer, all the information you need is on the modules, his grading criteria is very clear and he gives feedback videos. Someone mentioned that he talks bad about his students. This is inaccurate, he shows the class previous essays with blurred out names.

Who wouldnt want to take an English class from a professional writer?! He is passionate about teaching and truly cares about you. His class makes you think about real life controversies. Hes compassionate and the class is easier than I thought but you do need to participate. You get what you give! If I could take another class from him I would!

His class definitely challenged me, which is good! He expresses his instructions clearly, gives good examples, and provides excellent feedback. Taking his course significantly improved my writing skills. I enjoyed his sense of humor, admire his intelligence, and I can tell he really cares about the students which is refreshing and wonderful.

He is a professional writer which intimidated me but his grading was not as harsh as I would have expected it to be. He grades holistically which basically just means how well you wrote overall rather than take off points for every little error. I loved having him as a teacher, just wished it was in person.

This was, by far, the best English class I have ever taken. I took the 8 week course so it was fairly fast paced and there was a lot of writing (3 papers and an essay final). Professor Flynn was extremely clear on what an A paper should look like. If you pay attention and proof read, there's no reason you shouldn't get a good grade in this class.

The homework he gave out was mostly just reading (reread the text as he advises). He gives plently of time to work on essays and offers helpful tips. I would happily take his class again.

This class was fairly simple. Professor Flynn had a tendency of rambling during his lectures but otherwise no complaints. His lectures are based off his posts on canvas so you don't have to worry about taking notes. There were lots of group work during class but the assignments were easy and he would let us leave once we finished.

Eng. 120 is a mandatory class for most college students, and I'm glad I got to take it with Mr. Flynn. He helps students understand the concepts of the homework assignments, what is required, and grades holistically (meaning he's not nitpicking on minor errors). If you do the work, then you shouldn't have any issues.
