Not a bad teacher

Pretty simple class, just tests and a web page. Just gotta read and study

Nice easy going person. If you attend the class regularly and highlight the mainpoint then read them as least a hour a day you should do well. I learned a lot about business law and I'm not even going to major in it.

Very nice guy. His lectures are really interesting. You will enjoy taking his class although you can just show up for the test because he doesn't take attendance. Gives very helpful study guides before each test.

Very interesting with a dry sense of humor. As long as you read his tests aren't that hard and he will throw in chances to earn extra points.

He is so funny. Very smart, very interesting lectures. Highlight in the book, you dont even need to take notes. He has one or two favorites. Tests can be hard, but he makes a good study guide.

Very fair teacher, lets you refute your test questions. Go to class even though you don't have to, it helps. Tests are a little misleading but not to hard. Can rub you the wrong way. Good teacher!

Very cool guy and very interesting. His class was relatively difficult. I took business law with him over the summer, and no matter how hard I studied, my highest test grade was only a 79. Overall, his class was worth it because he told us cool stories, a

Dr. Karns is a great teacher. he makes the class fun and easy going, but he makes sure you understand the informations and uses examples in class to help you apply real-life situations to law. I HIGHLY SUGGEST TAKING HIM< HE'S KICK ASS!

He does his best to give you the opportunity to learn the material without overburdening you with it.

Dr. Karns was a great professor. I had him for a distance education course. Despite the burdens of having to find a proctor for examinations, I found him willing to help; Easy to work with.

Good course. There is no reason why anyone should not have come out the class with less than a C. The instructor made course information clear from day one and communicated with students on a weekly and sometimes daily basis.

I learned a lot in this class.

Cohesive syllabus including all assignment expectations was provided day one. He adhered to those expectations until the Blackboard server suffered technical difficulties during the semester; he extended assignment dates, which wasn't required. He's fair, not coddling, terrific for a law instructor.

Good Prof. Class taken online, very clear instructions. I rarely misunderstood or questioned assignments. Workload was quite challenging IMO, but grading was fair. My disputed test questions were promptly and justly addressed.

Dr. Karns was very helpful and fair. He addressed any concerns promptly. It was very clear what was expected in the class. When the server misbehaved, he allowed additional time to complete the assignment. Great Prof.

Class was easy if you studied some. He had the online tests timed so you had to know the material because there was not enough time to look up answers. Tests questions were clear and fair. Highly recommend Karns for FINA 2244!

Mr. Karns was a great teacher. He explain everything very well and if you did not understand something, he was very helpful. If you have to take this class, I do recommend you take it under Mr. Karns. Mr Karns thank you for everything.

Great teacher, easy to understand assignment instructions. A little picky on email formats, but an all around great instructor.

Way too much information to possibly know. Tests and quizzes are online and are impossible. The final exam is just as impossible and its in class so expect your grade to go down one letter grade from the exam

Very easy class. All Quizzes and exams are on line and you are given plenty of time to them. Must show for the final. Attend class, some of the material on final was discussed in class and was not in study material. He told us at the beginning what to do to get an A. I got my A.

If you stay on top of everything a 'B' is pretty easy. The margins for an 'A' are pretty tight, and material is hard to follow at times. Dr. Karns is fair, but don't expect a cakewalk.

GOOD INSTRUCTOR

Took this class online - He was extremely responsive and helpful, very clear on what assignments we needed to complete, and the course is not overly demanding. Be sure to study for the final, it is much harder than the other tests.

Take this online if you get the chance. This guy is very easy, if there is enough participation then you get 2 chances to take the tests. The Final Exam is hard (I failed it and still got a B though) and you have to have a proctor which sounds like alot to do but not really. Discussion boards 15%, 3 exams 10-15% each, 3 quizzes 5% each, final 35%.

Final exam accounts for far too much of your grade (35%!!!) and is HARD! No study guide for final. Expect it drop you a full letter grade. WSJ extra credit is a lot of work and only adds 10 points to the second exam grade, almost not worth it. Would be better if it added to the final exam. Very snarky in emails and discussion boards.

Dr. Karns is GREAT! Take his class. I was an online student. He posts what is expected at beginning of the semester. Quick to respond to questions on material and very knowledgeable. Dr. Karns cares about his students. A's are achieveable if you commit to the work. Take his class! One of the best professors at ECU!

Took online in summer. Instructor is easy to reach & helpful. Read syllabus - lots of important details in there. Lots of DB participation required - helpful to exploring topics. Read text book-heavily used.

AWESOME TEACHER ... he makes you outline the chapters but it really helps. Before the test he lets the students make up questions and he sends them out to everyone so you know exactly whats on the test!

*ONLINE-Required a subscription to the WSJ, but then changed the assignment to extra credit. Otherwise, all you have is 4 tests (open book) and your done.

For all the people that says he is a bad teacher is rediculous. As long as you go to class you will make a good grade. He gives you the questions and answers that will be on the test. Read at least an hour a day. GO TO CLASS!

I thought it was an awesome class. Took online, watched his lectures (recorded) and STUDIED HIS OUTLINES!! He provides you with an outline of info. USE IT! I think ppl that did bad just didn't study. Study, I got an A+ was super easy. But I studied his outlines.

Great class packed with pertinent information for the real world. Dr. Karns is passionate during his lectures and offers huge extra credits assignments. I like how Dr. Karns uses real world examples in his lectures about when he was in court and his service the U.S. Army. Anyone who fails this class simply has not done the work!

This is the best class I've ever taken in college! He gives you all of the information needed at the start of the semester and sticks to it until the end. I highly recommend attending every class, since he will tell you what information is important for every exam during his lectures. If you pay attention and work in the class it will be an easy A!

If you GO to class and pay attention and DO the extra credit opportunity there is NO reason that you should get less than a B in this course. Prof. Karns is very understand for test makeups/illnesses. He gives a GREAT final review going through each question and telling you what to study. Overall a great teacher, I would recommend him.

The first test I failed. I talked to Dr. Karns he gave me encouragement. He showed me that I could do it. He's always there if needed for help. I began to improve! A student should never take a full course load with this class. It very hard to study for another class. Dr. Karns will work with you in passing his course! Thank you Dr. Karns! I got A

All you need is to watch the videos and answer the questionaries he provides. The class is very easy and professor Karns give good examples when he explains the topics. Do your part and you will get an A. I highly recommend him...He is awesome!

Attending Exam review lecture is a MUST! He tells you exactly what will be on the exam. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he is such a good teacher that I wanted to go. I wish every Professor taught the way he does with real world example. I highly recommend him.

There's only 4 tests and the final. The extra credit project can be huge. Sometimes going to class is helpful but if you're good at taking notes out of the book on your own not necessary

Prof Karns is very smart and knew the content that needed to be covered in this course. He is a great teacher and if you make flash cards for each test then you should be fine.

took the class online. only grades are your 3 tests and a final. WATCH THE REVIEWS for the tests on his online lectures and you'll be fine. He goes over exactly what will be on the test. Easy A if you watch the test reviews while following with your textbook and take notes.

This class was an easy A for me and I only actually went to class for the exams. The key thing in getting a good grade is this class is the videos available online. Not each chapter video, I just watched the Exam Review video for each module. He goes through and basically tells you exactly will be on the test. It's boring to watch, but so worth it.

This is easily my favorite class I have ever taken. I find his lectures and stories fascinating. If you take the time to go over the material he explicitly tells you to go over, you will do fine on the tests.

The tests are easy as long as you follow the online review. The final isn't too bad but expect to get a letter grade or two lower than normal. Do the extra credit project!

All of these people saying Karns is hard are ridiculous. He has an Exam Review accessible online for each exam. He literally gives you ALL the answers to each exam, in order. You don't need to go to class at all, as long as you go through each exam review video fully. I didn't come at all and got all As, it's really not that hard.

All of these students who are complaining about Karns, its almost comical. He is a good teacher who basically lays everything out to you, so you can be successful in the class. You can make an A with effort. Kind of makes me roll my eyes seeing some of these posts. Makes the phrase, you cant please everyone, come to life. TAKE HIM. TRUST ME

Great Processor! If you watch his videos and study the material then you will pass the class! If you dont study and wait till the last minute to cram you wont pass the class! He is extremely helpful and understanding! He also gives you his phone number and you can call him at any hour of the day and he is always there to help you succeed! Always!

Dr. Karns is very knowledgeable and the overall content of the class is very straightforward and he does a very good job of explaining the content you need to know for exams. Also is very understanding and will give opportunities to students with valid reasoning. I appreciate everything Dr. Karns did for me as a student.

Prof. Karns is a great guy who actually cares about his students. He goes over everything in his lectures that you need to know for the exam and if you miss class, he posts the lectures to BB and gives each exam question and answer word for word, so take notes!
