He's so wonderful. Very interesting class. Cute to boot.
Jack is a good professor. His tests are not hard (STUDY GUIDES!), just be careful on his essays, you cant B.S. them. Just go to class every time and take notes. Also, count how many times he says "right" in class, its a riot.
Man are his tests hard, you have to write at least 3 paragraphs for each questions. The only way to pass is to memorize everything, really hard! Dont reccommend.

I usually hate poli sci, but really enjoyed this class. His enthusiasm is contagious. 4 tests (20% each), 4 homework (5% each), no cumulative final. Everything that is on the test is on the study guides. You can't go wrong if you just try. Attendence is not required, but you'll want to go for notes.
Made Political Science, a subject I detested, fun and interesting.
He has an amazing temper and no sense of humor but his own. If you dont like it get out he would say. Rude and inconsiderate! Dont take this teacher.
I dropped the class after one week. 'nuff said!
He is great prof! He is enthusiastic and fun, very intelligent and handsome! Highly recommend.
I enjoyed his class, though he seemed to ramble a lot and was often redundant. The only problem I have with him is that he gave me an incorrect grade for the class and took forever to get in touch with to correct it. But once he admitted his mistake he changed it almost immediately! Nice guy, but a little unorganized.
I had him for the 4 week summer session and he was so cool! Very easy and a very sweet guy. He wants everyone to suceed in his class and is very clear on what he expects. Take him, you won't regret it.
Had this Prof. for the 4 week summer class. He was an awesome teacher, went out of his way to help me when the book store didn't have the book for the class, spent 20 minutes making photo copys of the first 3 chapters for me... very good teacher. and easy class, just study. if i can get an A anyone can.
Great teacher, went out of his way to help students... if i can get an A anyone can...
it wasn't a horrible class...but i had actually signed up for another class and ended up with this one...if you enjoy urban studies this is a class for you...he is easy to understand and he is very open...he won't push any political opinions on you and makes it more of an open topic class...but beware...he reviews past lectures a lot and all you really have to do is memorize key terms and what he writes on the board or hands out in class...it was a waste of $96 to buy his book
This man is a great teacher. he is very interesting, and the work that he assigns is worth doing. I enjoyed all of his lectures, the only downside is that he seems very opinionated. But what political science teacher isn't anyway. Although his class is truly a pleasure!
Very good teacher. Until this class, I didn't care about government. Enjoys listening to students give their opinion on politics. Great assignments. Go listen to the speakers.
Great class! Professor presented both sides but at times seemed biased, concerning when teaching traditional students rather than older ones. The reviews helped focus on material for exams. There were some surprises.
Class is okay. Not an easy A.Discssions go off topic and get boring.
Miller is so genuinely interested in, and excited by, his subject that I actually feel guilty for loathing politics. His class is INCREDIBLY simplistic and easy, and like others have said, discussions tend to go way off topic and become very dull, but that's tenure for you. He's a friendly, fun teacher, though, and I recommend him.
GREAT PROFESSOR MAKES THIS SUBJECT VERY INTERESTING
Jack is a nice guy and has the best of intentions, but his class is dull and distracted. Just take notes on his questions and answers and copy them on the test word for word and you'll do fine.

Really enjoyed the class. American government is not my favorite topic but teacher made the class interesting.
I really liked the course. Very nice guy. Do the handouts and extra credit.
Didnt like his style of teaching. He seemed really unorganized and said "right" SO MANY times during class. We counted one day and it got to 250. Gives packets instead of a book (I Have millions of random packets everywhere). I like Poly Sci and I really didnt like him teaching it. Felt like we had to tell HIM what we were discussing each day.
Poly Sci not my favoriate subject but teacher kept it interesting. extra credit offered. recommend
All you need to know covered in lecture. Unorganized teaching style. I bought the book and only used it once for a homework assignment. extra credit offered. Exams require short written answers and were not the easiest. Easy quizzes and homework assignments helped me keep my A in the class.
Ok this guy has the ultimate worst Alabamian accent in the world!!! All he does is stutters and mumbles, but he is pretty easy. All you have to do is write everything he writes on the chalk board and there are many vocabulary quizzes. Do not buy the book, no point. He is really easy as long as you study the lecture notes. Good luck with his accent!
Easy A
Great class. Really understands how american politics operates.
Cool guy outside of class but didnt like his teaching style for the 4 week course. If he was more organised it would have been a good class.
I was worried about taking a 4 week Summer course in Political Science, but Mr. Miller ended up making it into a good experience. 4 simple assignments to turn in, 4 exams at the end of each week (really not that difficult if you actually study the lecture notes, review the handouts, and provide some smart B.S.). Nice guy!
sooooo easy....just go to class and write what he puts on the board. no need for the book.....and be prepared to hear the word "right" 46765658 times per lecture...ha! great guy....
He is an ok teacher. It seems like an easy class in the beginning but you definitely have to study or you will fail. His tests a re short answers so you cant just b.s. some answers
Was dreading this class, but needed it to finish my GE. I took 4-week summer class and he made it very interesting, great teacher. You do need to know how to write a few good sentences for 4 short-answer tests and you need to study, but he tells you what to study. He stayed neutral in his political views and gave a good overview of government.
A really nice guy! His lectures are pretty bad though. he's scattery, studders, and says random statements- he doesn't explain things in detail. if you go to the leactures, study the vocab and look over your notes you'll get an A though..
He is a really good taecher, but you actually have to study for the tests and quizes. I liked him a lot, im taking another one of his classes. Good man to know
I took American Govt and Politics in the summer to knock out GE requirements, and was surprised how interesting the class was. Jack is energetic, stays very neutral politically, and I learned a lot. His tests are short essay, so you have to study, but he gives you an overview of what could be on the test. A great class!
lets just say that the first day of class there were about 50 people, by the 3rd week there were only like 15 left.
Good Teachers, Lectures are not bad, He does not take attendence, Have to study a lot for his tests, Lets Make up tests, Overall good teacher.
I love Jack - he's great1! He's very good about not giving his personal political stance but you can kinda figure out where he stands. He is up on everything that's going on in politics - ask him questions. You need to study for his tests and do all the assignments. Don't talk when he's talking or he will call you out. He's a cutie to!
Loves his work and lives it so the class is very interesting. I did not really read the book. He gives Voc words to know. Look them up and learn them. Every one will be on a test. Take notes, his tests are all about the lectures and his phrase discriptions of things. Get an A. There is HW. Matching, fill in, defining tests. Loved the class.
cool teacher but really hard to understand. he mumbles a lot and talks super fast. writitng on the board isnt always legible. overall though a pretty straight forward class and you learn a lot. no hw. tests are sort of hard. got a B
Great Class. challenging but fun...
Jack Miller's teaching skills are just about as scattered as trash on the street on a windy day. His writing is illegible and sloppy. He babbles similarly to President Bush. His tests are 2 part: multiple choice/essay. The multiple choice is book based, and the essays are strictly lecture based. Vocab is prevalent on all tests, must memorize!
This guys notes are ALL over the place. Unfair at grading too IMO. Definatley HAS favorites. AVOID HIM
Summer session: 4 weeks, 4 tests (2-3 ch. each), 1 assignment. His lectures are scattered and his hand writing is a step above a doctor's, but he's interesting. Tests are approx. 20 MC & 20 T/F (book-based), vocab (straight from the book), and short answer (all based on lectures and handouts). Very willing to help if you are willing to ask. Easy A.
Summer session moves very quickly! Key to success: KNOW all key terms, take excellent notes on his lectures because they will be on the short answer portion of the test. Great teacher, makes it interesting & he's straight forward. Highly recommend him!!!
He lectures all during class. Tests are most of the grade and they are extremely difficult. There are no guidelines for tests so you have to read all notes, chapters, and vocab words.
i have taken two of Jacks classes and he is an absolutely amazing professor!!Your grade is based on your exam scores. The tests are so easy! all u have to do is look over your lecture notes & learn the vocab. He is one of my favorite professors at Moorpark! Anyone who says anything bad about him is probably just lazy, if you need polsci take jack!
hes great! i loved him! hes a tough grader tho...but makes the subject easy to understand
This guy is extremely rude. He'll make you feel stupid if you ask a question. Plus it's not enough that he's mean, but his lecture notes are difficult to read and all over the place.
This man is very rude and loves to insult his class. Don't bother asking for help because you'll just recieve a smart mouth remark. His lecture notes are almost impossible to read. I feel as if he just wants to show off what he knows on the subjest, and doesn't care to help you understand it. If you're an ACESS student, don't expect him to be sensa
(continued) tive or understanding to your needs.
He is okay. His notes are all over the place! There are only 4 tests and that is all you get graded on,no extra credit,no quizzes,so if you take him make sure you do really well on his tests, study notes & book. Mostly multiple choice, true-flase, and short answers, he is really tough on the short answers, wants it just like his lecture notes.
Great teacher. Tests are hard. Just need to study lecture notes and handouts.
His lectures are orgainzed if you pay attention.
Jack Miller was a hard professor. He gives 4 tests (each worth 25% of your grade). No Extra Credit, Attendance, Homework, or quizzes. If you dont do well on tests, dont take him. His notes are very sloppy and all over the place. He gets upset with you if you don't understand the material. Nice guy but bad teacher. He would yell at the class alot.
One of the worst professors at Moorpark College. Never prepared for class. Made up notes as he went along. Not caring for other students. Has favorites. I give him an "F" in my book! Notes are very sloppy. Only gives 4 tests and that is your grade. Gives no extra credit. He would yell at the entire class all the time. Very Rude "STAY AWAY"!!!
He was very rude to me at times. If I ask him a question, his reply would be "Well, what do you think?" Not helpful at all. Expects you to be just as smart as he is. Only gives 4 tests and thats your grade, and yea, the tests are hard. His notes are sloppy. One of the worst professors at Moorpark!
Jacks class is easy, show up take notes of what he says, not what he writes down, and learn the key terms, tweny on each test randomly picked, usually two essays and one pop quiz which is actually extra credit. just pay attention, sit down and shut up and take down everything he says and its an easy A. Great Guy, however a little scattterbrained
I just had him for the summer session along with another class and its pretty manageable. You have to be willing to learn and pay attention. He was never rude to me cause i payed attention and did well, but he did snap at two kids... i thought it was funny. He always talks about golf, I think it makes him feel classy
I took his summer class. This class was a waste of time. Newt time I will take this class with a different instructor. Never Prepared for class. Notes are all over the place. Sometimes he would yell at the class. He was not professional at all. He gives 4 test each worth 25% of your grade. I reported him to the Dean. Students Beware!!!
He gives 4 test each worth 25% of your grade. I took 5 class that semister. I got 4 A's and an F in his class. I spoke to him about my grade. He want to see the work I completed in other classes. He said the other classes gave me High School work. You can never ask him any questions. He would yell at the class and say No wonder you are all failing.
Don't bother taking the class with this professor. He was very rude and yells at the entire class. Notes are sloppy. Never Prepared. Gives 4 Tests and that is your entire grade and they are hard. No Study Guide. If you ask a question in class, he makes you look stupid. STAY AWAY!!!!!!
Great guy...you have to work to get an A. his notes are very sloppy. expect to spend at least 10 hours studying for each test. overall great teacher. i am majoring in political science after taking his class. i think hes really funny he is kinda mean if you do not pay attention or talk during his class. if you want to learn, take him!
This class really is not that hard. Tests have 2 parts: selected multiple choice questions from a packet he gives you, and questions from lecture and key terms. Study the key terms, do the packet, and take good lecture notes and you'll get an A
Hard hard hard. If you're taking other classes, and you're not a political science major, Don't take it. Not worth your time. 4 tests, 25% of you grade. He's very short with you, cuts you off when you're asking him something. Talks fast, fidgets often. Hes a jerk. A's in all 4 of my classes; D in his. I don't recommend you take him, at all!!!
this is ridiculous but his honors class was REALLY easy...practically no homework, maybe two projects that were really more like homework assignments. just form a political opinion, voice it, and you will get an A. easiest A i ever earned. [that is INSANE that so many people would find his regular class so difficult. TAKE HONORS!
Write down what he says and not what he writes on the board. No Study Guide. Makes it up as he goes. Notes are very sloppy. Gives 4 tests, each worth 25% of your grade. Tests are hard. Would yell at the entire class. He acts like he is better than you. Stay Away from this professor.
horiible teacher
This class was a joke. Not a good teacher!!!!
You'd be better off with one of the teachers from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"! Lecture was torturously boring and pointless. I seriously can't believe this guy gets paid to teach. Don't waste your time...
Jack is very helpful and passionate about his atudents. He makes an intense subject very easy to understand. I cannot understand why some raters have been so harsh.
Jack is a great guy! He makes a complex subject fairly simple. Textbook mostly used for key terms. Attendance isn't mandatory but his notes are KEY to passing the tests. Write down what he writes AND what he says. No HW, 5 exams (easy).
Write down everything on the board EXACTLY the way he does and you'll be fine. Pay attention! there is alot of information. He cares if you do! If you don't and he knows it; drop the class!
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. Literally the worst. The worst. Incoherent, rambling, disconnected thoughts were the bulk of every class. Don't miss a single test day either. I did exactly what he told me to do when I missed test days, and ended up failing due to his incompetence in giving out directions to follow. Literally the worst.
He's not hard. It's really up to the student to do his/her part. The notes are what matter the most, then the book. 5 exams, each 100 points. No extra credit. Don't be rude -he will call you out. No class breaks! But you forget about that since there's a lot to cover. Overall, good class and good teacher. I recommend.
This class was a waist of time. He gives 4 test each worth 25% of your grade. No extra credit. You can never ask him any questions. He was very rude. Notes are all over the place. No study guide for tests. Makes it up as he goes. Stay Away!
This professor is excellent at explaining everything about politics. This is a hard class, Pro. Miller answers the correct info. from the lectures and book. Pro. Miller wants you to actully give effort and attention in order to pass the class. The lectures can be tremendous but with a notebook and text you probability do ok. study as much 4 Examins
Very Hard Class. Professor is rude and does not care to help students who are struggling. Notes are very sloppy. Do not take this class.
Wanted to drop at first, once you get used to him he's not so bad. He has his own style and once you pick up his methods its just about studying. Alot of studying required but he gives you EVERYTHING you need to know for tests. He can be short but he just wants to get to the point-I appriciate that! WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE SAYS AND WRITES!GOOD GUY!
Very Hard Class. Grading is based on only 4 tests each worth 25% of your grade. Does lots of talking and hardly writes on the board. Never hands out study-guides. Does not know how to teach the subject. Never helps students. Stay Away!
This guy is extremely rude. He'll make you feel stupid if you ask a question. Plus it's not enough that he's mean, but his lecture notes are difficult to read and all over the place. Worst Teacher Ever. (I wouldn't even call him a teacher) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
My brother and I both took this class together. We both have always earned A's and B's in every class we have ever taken except his. He failed both of us! My friend also received a fail. I reported this teacher to the Dean. He should not be teaching! I wish I would have dropped this class. Now I have to retake. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!!
I really liked this teacher for his enthusiasm for the subject matter. He doesn't just drone on and on like other teachers, he's more peppy and keeps people interested. His tests are challenging, but if you read the material and follow along in class, you should have no trouble passing.
Miller is very rude and called me out in class. Lectures are very boring and so is the book. Tests are hard and i studied for hours and still got a C. i dropped the class because he was so rude. i wouldn't reccommend this class
He grades only on exams and doesnt really teach us much
This professor was very rude. I will never take him again and neither should you.
This was my favorite teacher this semester. His lectures are really interesting, and engaging. He tries to get students to actually THINK about the world they live in, and gives pts for participation,so speak up. He isn't rude, but will call you out if you are chatting or sleeping. Everything on tests is in his handout. Study and you will do well.
Very knowledgeable- he's been teaching this subject for 20+ years, so go figure... Easy to follow in lectures, and tests are based directly on information given in class and found in the chapter readings. If you show up to class and open your text book you'll be fine... not sure about the reviewer below me...
The subject material is easy, but the way Miller butchers statistics and stumbles around his lectures, it might as well been another language.. He has q's on his test that he knows are wrong, but his justification is "It was on the handout" good luck to anyone brave enough. it's a shame all the other classes were full, and i had to take this clown.
Very easy teacher. He may be a little strict and stern, but the material is easy.If you write down whats he writes on the board and do the study guides you can easily get an A.Absolutely all the questions on the test are straight from the handout.Pay attention, do the work and you will get a good grade.8 exams in semester with extra credit handouts.
definitely the easiest class ive taken so far. i had 4 other courses aside from this one and this was the one i forgot about because of how easy an A on his tests is to get. his study guides are word for word his tests. boring, yes. but who cares.
Worst Professor at Moorpark. I have been attending Moorpark for several years and have earned several A's and B's. He gave me a Fail. I took the class again with a different professor and earned a B. He gives 4 tests - each worth 25% of your grade. Fail one test and you failed the class. No Homework. Very rude to his students.
He is definitely serious during his classes. If you really study his handouts for tests you will easily get an A. If you are a little bit lazy, do not take it. :D
If you keep up with the reading (in the text book) and complete his study guides, you'll get an A... test questions come directly from the study guide and lecture; pay attention and the class is cake. P.s. dont have your cellphone out, EVER...unless you liked getting chewed out
Jack Miller is a profesor that has anger issues. I reported him to the dean.
He's not that bad. He expects you to show up on time, not leave early, and not be on your cell phone (which is reasonable in a college class). All tests questions come straight from the study guides. Study those and you'll pass easily. Just put your phone down and keep your snarky comments to yourself, and you'll be golden.
This professor has a very short temper and is rude to his students. He yelled and screamed at our class everyday. He always seems to be angry and tense. He has fits of rage and lashes out at students.
Inable to teach effectively due to his incompetant style. He does not take the time to explain concepts and uses class time to mutter, stutter, and babble. He moves side to side when lecturing making it extremely difficult to follow.
This teacher is hilarious. Although you can't take anything that he says to the class as an ego blow, he is a great teacher. His class is enjoyable if you are willing to follow along. I am glad that I took this course. Just study the study guides and the quizzes and tests are extremely easy!
Very easy class. His lectures are understandable and he uses helpful diagrams as much as possible. Easy A as long as you show up every day and study the notes (which are word for word on the exam). Don't use your phone or slack off and he won't reprimand you, it's that simple. Funny guy and overall a great experience.
Jack Miller is an awesome person. I'm not the brown nosing type so forget thinking that. I took intro to political science with him. He can get a little bit confusing and sound like porky pig a bit during lecture but other than that he's pretty cool. Everyone generally likes him so don't mind the haters. The subject can be hard to grasp for some...
This professor seriously has some anger issues and always yells at the class.
Absolutely wonderful teacher, people complain on this website that he has anger issues, that is complete nonsense, they need to suck it up. His class is very strait forward, do the homework, fill out the packets, and you will get an A no problem. Dont listen to the idiots who think he has anger issues.
Jack doesn't try to trick you. Every question on the tests are straight from his worksheets. So if you put in an hour or two studying for each test then you will get an A. If you show up late and walk in front of him he will yell at you.
He will yell at you. This professor needs anger management.
hes very.. hyperactive and really enjoys what he teaches. strict on his rules. easy A.. as long as you complete your handouts and show up for the tests & activities. whats on the handouts are exactly whats on the test. quizzes are simple vocab words. tests are easy. hes a cool guy, just respect him & he will respect you.
He is a great teacher. As long as you dont come in late or use your phone in class then you will get along with him. The worksheets that he uses in class are word for word on the test, quizes are super easy. All together he is a great teacher
Pretty straight up teacher. Tests come straight from packets that are easy to fill in. Easy class if you just participate and do the packets.
I loved this class. Don't be late though or he might not let you in. He's extremely organized and on schedule so you always know what's coming up and never have any surprises. You'll need to go to class because he gives notes that will be on the exam and you need your text book. I highly recommend taking this class!
Awesome professor! Very clear instructions, fill-in blank packets from text book, must attend class to receive the rest of content for packet, exams are on lecture and packets! no surprises, very clear instructions! Covers 2 chapters per week!
Jack Miller was a great professor. He's a very nice teacher if you even pretend to pay attention and don't disrupt his class. Otherwise, he's going to call you out. Test and quiz based mostly. Word for word with the packets. He's very passionate and is willing to help if you're having trouble grasping the basic concept
Fantastic professor, his class is super easy. literally print out his packets and find the missing words from the book and fill in the lecture portion. and LITERALLY that is word for word the test. study it and youll do fine. all in class discussions and informative and helpful. Just be respectful of him in class and DO NOT come in late.
He's a good professor. He knows his subject. He's easy to understand, and the work is straight forward. There are eight tests, and he gives a study guide for each one. Attend the lectures to fill in the study guides. If you study and complete the study quides it's an easy A.
Easy class. If you stay on top of things! Loves his subject and is extremley clear. No midterm or final. Loves the expression "Out there" You laugh now, but just count the number of times he says it!!! Overall good teacher.
He's a good professor gives extra credit sometimes rambles on and a little stubborn but take this class and if you read the study guide you'll be fine we scarcely use the book
He's a good professor never assigns homework never grades homework grades are based on Quizes and Exams he does do some extra credit read the study guide you'll do well
He is EXTREMELY easy. Must attend class to get the lecture notes. exams are EXACTLY from your packets so study that and you should be getting A's on tests. Textbook is a must. He gives you all the information you will need. Very easy class
class is highly organized and moves along at a fast pace but if you do your packets/reading, you'll be okay--perfect summer sesh class--be on time, DO NOT use your cellie during lecture--he can go from ecstatic to really pissed in about 2 secs so beware and behave--
He is very hyperactive, hence, it is somewhat fast pace. He will keep the subject interesting. He is a great teacher and knows the subject well. The test come straight off the worksheet/study guide. He doesn't have much of a tolerance for student that aren't interested and disrespectful so don't get on his bad side by texting or talking.
Prof. Miller is definitely well educated about the material. DO NOT ask questions in class..He lectures and if he skips over something and you ask him to repeat it he will scream at you. He scared the living crap out of me to be honest. the packets are ridiculous and such a waste of paper. He makes you print them out at home. I'd take someone else
Jack Miller definitely know what he's talking about, but you don't really get to talk at all. He has little rules and will explode into a rant if you break them. If you're good at memorizing packets for tests, take it. But I would recommend someone else if you're looking for a good, political discussion-based class.
Reasonable guy; super easy class. Just memorize everything in detail in his packets and you'll get A's on the tests. Simple as that. If you want an easy class, this is it, but you learn next to nothing.
I really enjoyed his lectures because he always provided thought provoking, interesting material. The class was easy, you basically just have to memorize word for word all the homework packets. I thought it was ridiculous that we had to memorize specific statistics and facts that wouldn't matter in the long run, so study well.
Refuses to respond to emails. Grades papers not based on what they consist of, but instead on how easy it is for him to grade. Don't enroll in this professors class, you'll regret it. Despite being a straight "A" student this professor thinks apparently I'm capable of less than that...This guys a joke!
Nice guy interesting lecture. Make sure to show up to class for the group activities because they are easy points. quizzes are easy. tests on the other hand are a bit more of a challenge, he throws you off by using none of the above alot and buy putting two similar choices which one is correct. so i suggest to study hard or you will be screwed
Tests were difficult. Online course's test gave you 5-10 seconds to pick the correct answer or you'll start missing questions automatically cause the time frame is crazy! He's not flexible at all. Don't bother seeing if he can help you cause he won't.
He makes political science fun and interesting. Definitely take him if you can plus it is also an easy A as long as you study the packets he gives. A+++
I haven't learned anything in this class and more than likely, you won't either if your familiar with the government. The professor seems to want his students to fail because he in absolutely no way tries to help his students. I wrote him an email and I never even got a response. He's a bad teacher in my opinion. AVOID!!!!!
Took the online class, 5 assignments that ar 2 pages long, 2 discussion per section, the tests are really specific questions. So make sure you fill out and study the packets if you do that you'll get an A on tests
This online class is very well structured. There were a few modules and each contained a discussion, a 1 1/2 page assignment, and a quiz. Listen to the lectures and fill out the packets he gives you and you got yourself an easy A! I even went into his office to get help on an assignment and he was very helpful.
This professor is pretty straight forward. You know what he wants and it's not overburdensome. Taking summer class with him so the class is moving pretty fast. Do his packets, assignments, and study and you will know exactly what will be on the test. I def. recommend him for pol science.. and it's a subject I disliked b4 this class.
TAKE HIS SUMMER CLASS!! two days a week and he only teaches for one of them and then gives a test on the material the next class. everything on the study guide and work sheets is on the test so super easy if you just study beforehand! personally he belittles everyone and freaks out over the dumbest things but overall good teacher. take him!
Easy class but he isn't a very good teacher. All tests based off lecture and chapter packets he makes. I took him over summer so attendance was mandatory. He can be pretty mean sometimes but just do the work and try your best. I wouldn't take this class unless you had too.
I don't like political science but Prof. Miller makes it really easy. You get study guides FOR EVERY TEST. If you do them and know them you will get an A on the exams. Exams are 50 questions all multiple choice. No tricks. Lectures can be boring but he usually lets you out early. Not alot of busy work. Straightforward and simple. Take Jack!
This prof gives you everything you need to get a good grade. Do the packets, online work and study specifics!! Questions on tests are multiple choice but he likes to trick you with "None of the above" questions..and there are A LOT of them! It sucks that he does it so much but at least you know its coming. Taking summer class & have a 94%
This class does require time to review course material and formulate understanding. The professor gives you everything you need to succeed, you just need to make it happen.
Very clear with regards to what is on the test. Handouts and study guides provided by him. Study these guides/handouts like he says and you will get an A. Homework is online assignments that are easy, fun, and informative. Always willing to chat about the topic. Be respectful and study what he tells you.
Not an easy A at all. Memorize fill in packets, all vocabulary, handouts, and practice tests in handbook (I didn't). Must be on time or you will be kicked out of class. B is definitely doable and to get an A your going to have to spend a lot of time memorizing everything mentioned earlier. If your willing to put in the time you will succeed.
TAKE HIM! I took him for pol m03 and as long as you do the packets and the quizzes at the end of the chapter you're guaranteed an A on the exams. no homework. wayyyy easier then Pfeffer
Take him! first couple weeks calls on people but stops. Fair at grading & really nice/ helpful anytime! Thought i was gonna die in this class but his tests are straight the study guides and papers and questions in back of each chapter. I memorized it for like 3 hours night before and got B's. No Final & easy points from internet excercises
Easy class. Just make sure you read. Really study the study guides as the test are 70 question with only 50 minutes to answer them. If you keep up with the readings, its an easy A.
Incredibly easy class, he gives you handouts to study for the tests which if you memorize there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. He treats his students like children which can be infuriating, but if you just hold your tongue and and study you'll be fine. Grade is tests, quizzes and various other exercises that require zero effort. Easy A!
Took online. Tests are not open book. Must study and read a lot. Class is easy if you take the time to study the handouts and read all the chapters in the book and all the material that's covered. You must purchase books.
Very easy & straightforward. Online summer class was 5 modules consisting of chapter readings(mandatory), completion of study guides (basically the test questions), 2 discussion/response posts, internet assignment (answering questions after chapter exercises online) and the module test. Do study guides & chapter quizzes - they are tests!
Extremely clear & sends updates. I find the class very straight forward. This is definitely not an easy class but if you study the handouts, read the text & pay attention to his updates, you will be fine. I found him to be very helpful. I did dislike the discussions but that was mainly because of the other students typing before they thought.
His summer class was not easy but overall he was a very good instructor and i recommend him. Also a huge Alabama football fan. Really get's you motivated. A must take
Great class, always pay attention to his lectures, he will randomly call on you and you MUST have an answer. Tests aren't difficult if you pay attention in class, read the book and study. I'd take him again if he didn't call on students, he'll put you on the spot! Overall, he's a great knowledgeable professor
Straight forward class. There are 5 modules: each with 2 discussions, an assignment, & a test. He gives outlines to go along with the reading that are extremely useful for the tests, which can be difficult. He gives 60 minutes for 75 questions, which makes it stressful. Assignments are simulations & were fun :) Good teacher, good, quick lectures.
Professor Miller is a good man. His class is a lot of work. He cares about his students and he is passionate about political science. He really wants you to succeed in his class and in life. Go Alabama !!!!
This was a very easy class. Every week you have to do a discussion board (a paragraph and 1-2 sentence response to one other student), book study guide, and a 2-3 min lecture study guide. Do the study guides and test questions are word for word from the study guides. You must buy both books in order to complete study guides and do well on tests.
This class is only hard because the material is dense and usually boring, and if you don't read(or study) you will fail. Gives study guides & handouts which have all the info for the testsquizzes. If you do your work, the tests aren't hard they are just time consuming. He's extremely nice & helpful outside of class. Silver fox alert.
This class is SOOOOOO easy, but the professor himself can get on your nerves. He flips out if you're late to class and expects you to pretty much predict the future in order to show up to class on time. If you study in class when he's lecturing get prepared to be called out in front of the entire class. He gets mad over the simplest things. Easy A.
Semester consists of 8 exams and 8 quizzes so failing a few is easily forgivable. He gives packets and if you study them you'll do well but since the tests are so often I was always cramming the night before. He was kinda cool i guess.. i just couldn't stand how many times he said the words "in a sense", it drove me crazy!
First off this teacher is not hard! As long as you do the work as assigned before the due date Easy A. Missing work is very crucial to grade. No extra Credit. Weekly Discussion, 4-5 Exams Online, 5 assignments, not hard at all. Packets are pretty much the test, as long as you study them will do good on tests. Overall very chill class:)
He is one of the meanest professors I've ever had. I never missed a day of class, always participated in lectures and got great grades and one day I asked to go to the bathroom (I was sick), and he didn't let me go! He gave an angry lecture to the whole class on how people who leave class won't succeed blah, blah, blah. Clear criteria, rude professor
Took online. There were no lectures to print out and study from, only tons of items to find answers for line by line. Too much homework and studying for really difficult tests. Other online teachers make powerpoints or lectures to help. I love this topic so was disappointed overall.
I went to rate my professor before going into this class and read Jack's reviews. I knew three things- 1. He's an Alabama fan 2. He's tough 3. I had to find a way to make him see I'm a good student and not just in it for credit. Lesson learned: If you put in the effort, you WILL have a great time in this class with Jack! He's a great professor.
I took this class online and it was very hard. I love the subject but he made it extremely difficult and not fun. You cant get ahold of him through email or anywhere else. His tests were so ridiculous. Nothing in his online lectures were on the tests. I studied so much for the class but the tests were too hard and there was no way to prepare.
I took him last spring and really enjoyed going to class. He is very passionate about his subject and his lectures made the subject more interesting. His tests are exactly based off the study guide. Book is required. Attendance is mandatory because there are no makeups on anything, though he drops 1 test at the end. DO NOT BE LATE.
If you wanted to be patronized and treated like you are still in high school take this Jack a..... He is had a god complex. The class wasn't too hard but take it with someone else.
Love his class. Absolutely great. If you study, you'll get an A. International Relations. Make sure you stay on top of reading. You need an 83.3% average on exams for an A-. I find myself averaging exams at 96% with some effort. If you're a straight A MP student, this course shouldn't be bad.
Gives a schedule for the whole semester the first week. Test are hard, not all material is learned in class and some doesn't even appear to be in the book. You needs to study, read, and have interest. Cannot just attend. No phones allowed. Also have lots of little quizzes. Great guy, but not a easy class. Has a passion for the subject. Fun. Nice.
At first, I was scared by the reviews on here but I really like Prof. Miller. Sometimes he's kind of grumpy but his lectures are awesome because he's knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches (especially S. Korea). Great conversations after class about foreign policy, government, and sports. Don't slack off though and DON'T BE LATE.
First of all, I'm not big on theory and Miller didn't curb my enthusiasm. The class is not too difficult as it is an intro course, but participation ruins you. Above all, participation matters, which is horrible. Never be late to class, he will kick you out. Make sure to do the readings! Also he's usually grumpy.
I truly enjoy Miller's classes, however if you're looking for an easy A this is not the class for you. Participation is vital because he wants solid discussions - not just students blindly listening to a lecture. If you put enough effort into contributing to discussions and studying with what he provides, you will do well in the class.
Professor Miller's class just wasn't as interesting as I hoped it would be, or as interesting as it could have been. But he was a nice guy, and I aced the multiple choice quizzes easy enough, so I'm complaining.
Zero empathy for students going through any sort of situation such as hospitalization, death, or anything of the sort. This bitter man shouldn't be teaching.
Miller was the worst professor i have ever had so far. The exams are based on his own information in his head, so you spend hours studying the books because his notes and political exercises are absolutely useless for the exam. Im an A student and had to drop his class because I wouldve gotten a C, for nothing.
this class was an easy A, but he's kind of an old timer and doesn't care much for teaching or giving students an education. test or quiz every single week, directly from the book. no final! he never spoke of material related to the subject once. he also puts trick questions which is bull because he doesn't teach. easy A, but i wouldnt recommend.
Miller is OKAY. You're basically on your own for his classes. you do the readings and study or you will not pass. I defiantly suggest filling out all the study guides that are on canvas.
Comparative politics was one of my favorite classes but I really recommend for majors who focus around political science. It goes more in depth than other poli sci classes which I love. You learn about a few countries and their political systems - you also have to do outside research on countries not discussed in lecture.
I took the online class and it was pretty good. He gives handouts online based on his lectures and the textbook which is super helpful in preparing for the tests. I definitely recommend it.
Bad, awful, and clueless best describes this so called professor. Calls you out if you do something else while he lectures, and kicks you out if you arrive late to his class. His vocab quizzes and assignments are fairly easy though, so that should help you a lot. His tests are hard, so study a lot from the work you do, even though it'll hardly help
This class is an easy A but if you actually want to learn then I don't recommend Professor Miller. One good thing about him is that he gives you tons of opportunities to get good grades (quizzes, tests, assignments). Other than that, if you read the textbook that's the only way you'll learn because he can't teach.
I took the 4 week online summer course. I was very nervous at the beginning of the course because of the ratings from ratemyprofessor. I ended the class with an A and it was much easier than I had anticipated. Listen to the lectures and do the study guides for the tests. You'll pass no problem!
I took the winter online late start course. Very straightforward, no final, two discussions and one 70 question test due every week. Easy to communicate with. I didn't buy the book and didn't go thru the lectures and passed with an 86%. If you're inclined to Politics, you'll do well.
Straight to the point type of Professor. He does not give you busy work. Quizzes and Tests have questions straight from the assignments. Good course.
I took his spring 8 week course and I loved the class. It was very interesting and the discussion topics were too. I had to email him a couple times and he always responded pretty quickly. I thought this was a great class, definitely recommend taking it with him.
Professor Millers Political Science class is simple and to the point which is a plus. I really enjoyed this class he is a great teacher and if you miss one of the handouts he is accessible through office hours. This class is an easy A as long as youre not late and do your work which is understandable.
Great teacher, easy grader. Do assignments on time and you will pass the class with ease.
I found political theory to be an extremely interesting class mainly due to professor Millers lectures. He explains in great detail and his lecture notes are exactly like the tests. Easy Grader. Class is graded on 4 tests consistent of 15 T/F 10 SA questions and an essay. You will have to read the book but if you do you will get an A.
This class was really easy and as long as you read the textbook and his study guides you can easily earn an A. He will kick you out if you are very late to class, talking or using phone in class but overall I enjoyed the class.
His class is really easy. Just fill out all study guides and do all the lectures. Study them and the vocabulary and you should be fine. The discussions are easy, but some find it necessary to write full essays. There is no point in that, 6+ sentences is good.
I don't recommend this class. There are 6 tests, no homework. He doesn't lecture to the test, so you have to analyze the assigned videos very closely for answers. There were handouts he even told us we didn't need to know, and then he put them word-for-word on the exams. I'm a 3.8 student, but I kept getting Cs on the tests, so I had to drop.
One of the easier online classes I have taken. Only a few discussions which are based on your opinions on certain topics that I thought were interesting and informative and a few exams which are very easy to study for. Everything is spaced out which gives you more than enough time to get your work in.
If you are working, and are pressed for time this is not the class for you. I took this class during the summer and it was not easy. Quiz's ok, homework ok, test HARD! You are given a packet with different topics to read about and then you answer the questions. Study all the topics and all that you learned. I ended up dropping this class.
Professor Miller is a solid professor. His grading criteria is clearly outlined. Test questions are often identical to those on assignments. If you are having trouble, however, Miller is approachable and easily accessible through his office hours. So long as you do the assignments and listen during lecture, an A is easily achievable.
worksheets need to be printed out easy to find in textbook. easy tests online.
Very hand off professor. Sends a sentence of instruction a week and that is all the contact online. I did the 9 week class and there's two discussion and a test every two weeks. Easy discussions, harder tests. Not hard exactly but hard to get an A on, Quizlet will not save you in this class. You have to at least do the practice tests and read some.
Professor Miller was a great teacher. He is very literal and philosophical. You will absolutely love him. I enjoyed his class a ton and learned a lot. No homework but you need to well on the tests!
Grade depends mostly on tests. Gives you what you need for every test in class and online. Do study guides and read the handouts carefully before every test and you'll get a good grade. No textbook, attendance not mandatory but highly recommended.
The online class consists of 5 modules (1 moduleabout 1 month), and each module has 2 discussions and an exam. The discussions are actually really interesting and on relevant topics. You have to study for the tests using the handouts and the textbook, but if you study they are not hard. Reaching him outside of class is easy and he is very kind.
Miller did everything in his power to make this course easy. The tests are exactly like the worksheets he hands out and the three papers you have to write are easy 100%. The papers have to be less than three pages and basically wrote themselves. I would highly recommend taking this class for an easy A.
Online summer class, so basically condensed information. My only complaint is the tests are so difficult, unless you have a photographic memory its hard to get an A on tests. I would read every chapter and fill out the follow along and I still couldnt retain it all. Gives 1 min per question on the test. 70 questions 70 minutes.. not enough time.
Took POLSM03 online, he is a nice teacher who grades fairly. Do the assignments on time and you will get an A. 11 homework assignments and 5 tests.
This ONLINE class was the hardest introduction course I have ever taken. Spent so much time on work for this class that I was exhausted after each week. Quizzes were difficult for the majority of the class. He also makes you read his very own mediocre book. Please just avoid this course if you need good grades.
I took Professor Miller for U.S. Gov online. Honestly, it was an easy A. Most of the assignments were just "political exercises" and summarizing the choices you made. Didn't really interact with him, but he seems nice. Read through the notes a few times and you'll get an A on the quizzes. Good class if you don't want to do a lot work but want an A.
He had a bubbly personality during lectures, but then graded with a terrible "Dr House" like attitude. He was quite opinionated, which was hard to take seriously. He also assigned us a reading from an alt-right internet personality. When the class criticized his choice to assign it, he basically debated us to defend it. Very odd experience overall.
