Oceanography was great. He e-mailed all the notes and they are now available online. All you have to study is the notes, the book is a helpful addition however not required if you attend every class. Gives lotsa extra credit. Great teacher

Be sure to watch the CD that is with book. He is laid back, but watch yourself! His tests are reworded and he expects you to know your stuff. Fill in the blanks mostly w/ wordbank. Very available to students. Read chapter, guides he gives you and study..it gets harder as months go by.

Definitely would recommend! He really knows his stuff. Study for the tests and do the occasional hw and extra credit and anyone could get an A.

Heck of a good guy, and a good teacher. Let's you know exactly what he expects of you from the beginning. He's a little bit of an enviromentalist whacko, thinking the world's gonna end, but he tries not to let discussions get to political. Overall, his class is a good choice if you're just trying to get a science credit out of the way.

I took him for Earth Sciences AND Oceanography and he is an AWESOME teacher! Very helpful but strict. Gives students AMPLE extra credit and gives you reviews for tests. It is damn near impossible to fail his course! If you come to class and don't slack off you'll pass with a B easyily. I only wish there were more Science classes he taught.

I liked this class, this teacher is very knowledgeable shares a lot os interesting topic and data about our current climate, he does not give out alot of homework. his test are fair if you study you will do fine. Highly recommended.

JRogers is a pretty good professor. Very straight forward. Show up to class, study for exams, and you should be fine. There is also a field trip to Merrit Island which isn't too horrible...

He's really nice. You know exactly what is expected up front. Provides notes online, gives fill in the blank tests with no word bank. So you do have to study and know all definitions and terms. No confusion at all you know the whole time what your grade is.

Prof. Rogers is an easy "A" is you study for his fill in the blank tests, but the tests come striahgt from the notes which you can print from online. There is hardly any homework, and gives you a chance for some extra credit. There is a field trip, which i didn't want to go to at first, but i ended up haveing a really goodd time. Rogers is awesome. He himself is hilarious and easy to get along with. My biggest complaint about the class was the students who all seemed to be fresh out of high school and just about the most immature and rude things I've ever seen. He's a great teacher who has cool extra credit and two field trips to Merritt Island and Sea World!

Great class! Prof Rogers really knows his stuff. Oceanography is really facinating! Notes on line, print them and use them. Extra credit was fun! I got extra credit for a 'subduction zone volcanic arc' costume I made!(you will know after this class!) 2 field trips worth going on. Saw manatees, gators,crabs, etc. Good slide shows and movies in class

Great professor he gives you his cell phone number if you have any questions plus office hours! He does sidetrack easily but it is always about something interesting. His power points are online. The tests are pretty easy if you study. One required field trip. I would definitely recommend him!

Mr Rogers is an easy class as long as you study and pay attention. He doesn't even require you to take note because he already has them on his website in a powerpoint form which can be downloaded. I got a C in the class but that's because I am not a great test taker to begin with and Science is not one of my favorite subjects.

HONORS COURSE- It's a really great class, Prof. Rogers is awesome, teaches very well makes the class very interesting. Shows neat videos, easy tests, get to go to Merrit Island and sea world. Honors class. He was very hard, never offered study guides so it was never clear what you had to study, and as a lot of material was offered it made the class a lot harder than it needed to be. Still, he's a really fun guy and the two field trips were a lot of fun. If you are into science then take him, but expect a challenge.

If you take notes and study you will get an easy A. There is a paper, some extra credit for you. He tells you how he grades and how it makes your grade. He is a cool guy. You will enjoy this class. Easy course. Just take your time and study.

Rogers is a great professor! Lectures are so interesting (except for one about rocks...) and tests are literally from the notes. The paper is super easy and the final is cumulative and multiple choice.

Pretty easy class. Lectures are really boring but some are interesting. Plate tectonics and rocks dont get much boring then they already are. Gives packets and test questions come right from the packets. Some packets are 40 pages long but are slides & doesn't say exactly what will be on the test. Study and you'll pass. I loved Professor Rogers! He's a really cool, laid back guy and very knowledgeable. Lecture and labs were fairly easy and interesting. Tests could be hard, they were all fill in the blank but he was relaxed in the grading. Very easy honors course and an easy 4 credit science. I would recommend to anyone interested in earth science and geology.

I took this class over the summer and loved it! His tests come straight from the notes and lectures. I didn't buy the textbook and it wasn't needed. He has "pop" quizzes about once a week but they are 1 question. We had 5 tests and they were fill in the blank with a word bank. Study for an hour or two and you'll get an A. He's an awesome professor!

Took Oceanography. He is a great teacher, he explains everything well. He does get a little bit rambly and boring at times, but he has a ton of personal experience on the subject, and he will incorporate it in class, which helps out a lot. Tests are all fill in the blank and they can be really tough, but if you study, you can do it.

Everyone on here that left a bad review is probably looking to breeze through college. This teacher is amazing. Easy mode! You dont need and you can pass his class. very chill teacher. he is nice and understanding when you miss class. all of his questions come from his notes/lectures. make sure you take notes while hes lecturing cause he doesn't really read off powerpoints, he just kind of skims through them. funny and a good personality, so it made the class less miserable

Due to a class cancellation, all students in the class I signed up for ended up in his Oceanography 101 class. so his normal class of 24 became 48. So I think he treated the class more lax then he would normally. But I still don't seem him as a hard teacher. Print out his powerpoints and take notes directly on them. This does wonders trust me.

Professor Rodgers is an AMAZING Professor. He is very helpful and knows his stuff. Fill in the blank tests and gives out crossword puzzles as a study guide. And on the tests, they're word of word straight from the crossword puzzle. Drops your lowest test too. I'd recommend him.

I specifically took this class because I had taken a class of his before and knew he was an exceptional professor. Now a lot of people on here who took this class complaining about birds. Understand birds are plentiful in Florida making them easy assignments he feels anyone can accomplish. Plus they work well for his exposure & and shutter lessons

Seriously easy class. I don't understand how someone could fail. lectures and power points in class, power points are also online, no homework, fill in the black tests and one paper. You can miss up to 4 classes so attendance isn't super strict. Not a super interesting subject to me, but I recommend if you just need your science credits

Probably the easiest class that I took at Valencia yet is the class that I learned the most in. He makes class fun and you walk away with tangible knowledge. If you show that you are trying he will do whatever he can to help you out. He gives you a ton of extra credit opportunites to make the class easy and he tries his best to make everyone pass

Earth Science isn't the most exciting subject, but Professor Rogers does his best with it. He's funny, and does all he can to make the topics relate to things that matter to his students. There's quizzes often, and there are about 4 tests. It's fairly easy as long as you show up every day. Your final grade is easy to get up to a good level.

Professor Rodgers was great, he gave a clear grading criteria and never expected too much from his students. Only complaint I have is that he does random pop quizzes that are worth a big portion of your grade, so if you're unprepared or miss a class you suffer. But he offers multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester that adds up.

Mr. Rogers is probably one of the best professors I've ever had, just treat him with respect and take interest in the material. You'll love it. Rogers was unreal. Great personality, extremely funny and witty. He'll call you out and put you in your place if needed to be done. His tests are extremely easy, do the crosswords puzzles and you'll be fine. Probably the class I did least work for but learned the most.

There are 5 tests and a final no homework ever make sure to study your notes before every class because you will have a pop quiz. no busy work just test and quizzes also there will be a research paper but that's about it .

For Intro to Oceanography - Avoid eye contact and if you want an A in the class, you just do THE CROSSWORD and the wordlist! Both are important. Make a group chat and share a quizlet together.

PROS: -Wordlists and Crosswords given before the test really help in preparing you. -Lectures are interesting and the classroom environment is great. CONS: -Important test information is missing from the PowerPoints and are only mentioned briefly in the lecture; make sure to listen to literally everything he says so you don't miss something.

Pay attention in class because there is a lot of useful information that can be used to study for tests. Really chillax professor, but if you don't like a lot of talking then he might not be to guy for you.

Best professor ever! Took him for Oceanography and Nature photography, guaranteed A if you do the work. For oceanography, most of the class time is PowerPoint slides but tries to make it fun. Exams are very easy and he allows you to use a word bank if you do the vocab words for the exam. Extra credit opportunities, always out of class early.

Professor Rogers is passionate about what he teaches, very rarely do you have assignments. Not even usually once a week, quizzes are 1 question worth 2.5 points fill in the blank but the answers are in the presentation he provides, tests are 20 questions worth 10 points same with all the answers in the presentation. Impossible to fail if you read.

Take this class! I've learned so many interesting things in this class and the way he teaches makes it very easy to learn and actually remember what he's talking about. He's also very kind and helpful. The chapter quizzes are literally one question and worth 10 points.

Great professor, really great class. He gives very few assignments but they have very clear directions and mostly everything is in the PowerPoints he makes for the class. This is a great class if you need flexibility when it comes to your schedule, not because he pushes things back but because of how few and clear the assignments are.
