He is a good teacher that is very approachable and doesn't mind to give you extra help. The course is fairly easy whoever is teaching it but I feel like he made it even easier by teaching shortcuts and methods the other teachers don't teach. Each class you'll be required to complete a worksheet helps with the learning and counts for a small grade.

Jack is a enthusiastic professor that truly is excited about what he teaches, which is a very important quality in a professor. He is very helpful, and loves to help his students. The guy is just OK. He had a goofy way of explaining everything. My TA was better than him though. He puts all the slides online, so I tended to skip his class and just go to recitation and probably did better for it. Try to get Jonathan Thompson as your TA. He should be teaching the main class over Schmidt. No offense.

Now I hate Math, but this class wasn't bad at all. Jack keeps things interesting with his jokes and upbeat teaching style. If you want to teach yourself the content, take this class. You don't really use the textbook in class but if you want to actually learn anything it is a must have. He teaches content after the homework is due to "confirm you understand the material". Not good at explaining and I usually leave more confused than I come in.

Jack is a nice guy, he cares about his students, but -and this is a big but- he's a nut job. Prof. Schimidt in my opinion runs his lectures and class in an uninformed and unorganized fashion. As a student of this class, I find that going into the exams was not prepared clearly for the material that was put on this exam. Also, Prof. Schmidt does not seem very caring for his students, he seems more worried about lecturing. DO NOT TAKE
