Tapelshay changed my life! This man is so much more than an English teacher. He encourages thinking for yourself creatively. He taught us skills that I still use today - 10 years later! His classes fill up FAST, though, so register as early as possible!

Jack is the most inspirational professor that I have ever had. I've been gone more than 3 years and he still has an effect on how I learn. He really knows his stuff and makes you want to show up for class.

He is funny, uses bad words to make us fun. He wants us to speak up, so he calls any names of us to let us say something. On the beginning of the class, he let us memorize all of students' names in class to be able to say "hello" in the outside of the class. It's really easy to get an A.

Tap's pretty much the coolest teacher at COD. Take his 1A class, save your notes. They'll benefit you for any other class you ever take. For his Myth and Lit classes, all you need to do is show up, and read the 3 or so pages per week. His classes are always the most fun and interesting. Real entertain tangents and discussions.

Wonderful teacher. I recently transferred to CSUF and I must say that he is much more interesting and intelligent than many of the professors here. He has provided me with so many great writing tips I will forever use. Also, I have referenced the assigned book, MLA HANDBOOK, many times since taking his class. Hands down best teacher ever!

"Tap" is one of the absolute best teACHERS I've ever had... an amaziung, entertaining class, even early in the morning. Seriously, his class can change your life if you'll let it.

Tap is by far the best teacher I have ever had!!! Besides becoming a better writer, I learned so much more about who I really am. He is very easy to understand and to relate to. If you are able to find a way into one of his classes, don't miss the chance!!

You will be challenged to find a professor that shows more agape love towards ALL students. I was impressed on his abilities to relate to each and every student in the class. I learned alot about myself as well as others in the class. A bit of writting to do, but very worthwhile! Presentations at end of class deffinetly the highlight!

Easy going and not hard to approach

Tap is a great teacher because he cares about what is important. His door is always open to his students, but not necessarily open for complaining. He is how a teacher should be.

loves everybody, except baseball players like me. He has literally cussed at me and my roomate when we have done really nothing wrong. I did all of my work, but the guy seems to just have it out for athletes or something,after all i did all of my work. He told me i thought i was better then everyone because i missed two classes, so watch out

Don't listen to the basketball player. The only thing Jack hates is when people are disrespectful to him by not trying. Give him your respect and he'll be the most inspiring, thought provoking, witty, and all around good-natured teacher you'll ever have. I truly enjoyed his class. This is coming from a Computer Science major that hates English.

I've taken two other classes with Tapleshay before, and I have yet to be let done. he is hands down one of the best professors COD has to offer. I would highly recommend taking one of his courses. But again like any class, you get out what you put in.

One of the most brilliant professors/teachers I have ever met. This is the type of teacher movies are made about, you know, those really cheezy inspirational ones. His knowledge for life stretches far beyond classroom formalities. Soak up as much as you can from this man, while you can. A+++

I took Tappy for Myth & Legend. The best class I ever took and easy too. He really opens up your mind on what the topic is. There was only 4quiz, 4papers, and a final was to give a presentation. Easy but, you learn a lot from Joseph Campbell's book. He does carry on a lot but, its just the experience of taking him it works. : )

Absolute Best professor! This class changed my life and future. He is very intelligent and cares about his students. He is always happy to give you feedback or status with you. I am so thankful that I took this class and learned so much from him!

I took Tappy for English 1B. Absolute best English teacher you'll have! He is easy to talk to, fun, and really opens your mind to literature and a whole bunch of topics. His assignments are quite hard, they involve a lot of time and effort but it's worth it towards your grade and the enjoyable experience!

One in a million professor. Speak to him about his ideas on irony and it will change your life. I'm at the university now and I don't miss COD but do miss the 5 minute conversations I would have with him that would leave me thinking for hours.

By far one of the best classes ever. When I took his class, I gained a whole new perspective on life and really how society views things in our day in age. This is by far my favorite class I've ever taken Tappy is hilarious and really makes learning interesting. I've learned so much about writing in his class it's unbelievable if you don't take this class your writing will not be as good as it can be. Amazing class never had anything like it before.

Professor Tapleshay loves what he does and when a professor loves what they do, you know that you'll enjoy the class. He is an amzing teacher! His stories and outlook on certain subjects keeps you really interested!!! Never one dull moment. When he can tell that a student is struggling he helps you along! No matter what class it is if he is teaching, take it! You will not be dissapointed!

This was Tapleshay's last Myth & Legend class that was offered at COD. A very dedicated professor who has opened my mind to mythology and how broad it is! I liked the videos from Campbell because they were both informative and trival. SAO's and quizes relating to Campbell. No final exam except a presentation that tells modern mythology. Loved it!

Best teacher ever, took his 8 am class, but was never sleepy. He is hilariouse he is the reason I changed my major to English. It's good to see teacher that are passionate in what they teach. His moto "Show up, show up on time, and do the work and you will be fine". so true

I took Tapleshay for American Literature I. He is hands-down one of the best professors I ever had in my schooling career. He is challenging, but if you do all your work and show up each class session, he will do his best to work with you. There is two moderate papers involved, so be prepared. A class that will definitely be well-worth your time.

Tap is an amazing professor. I took this class as a filler because I needed to be full time, but it actually became my favorite class this semester! Tapleshay is a very dynamic and engaging professor. The assignments are not overly taxing AT ALL. I would highly reccommend. I'm taking his American Lit. class next semester.

Tapleshnocker is my favorite! Not just because of his antics and sense of humor, but because he actually cares about his students. I recommend taking advantage of his office hours if you have any questions about your papers. There is lots of peer editing (takes most of class time) and the essays are not difficult to write. Easy A in my opinion :)

After years of being away from college it was a refreshing restart. I would highly recommend taking a class with this man. There are few teachers left like him.

He is one of the most dedicated Professors I met. I would go to his office hours constantly and he always was willing to help me. You have to be a dedicated student to pass his class. DON'T BE LAZY!!! You need to show an interest that you care about school, and he will help you. Very funny, he inspired me to keep writing.

He Is a great Professor to take english with. He helps you learn the stuff you would have never learned in any other english classes.

Jack is honestly an amazing guy. He wants you to succeed and do well in his class. But in order to do that, you have to put in the effort. Its a lot of work, but in the end I fell like I am walking away from the class as a better writer. I would highly recommend him.

I had him for 1A. He's a really good professor. He's always available for feedback. It's pretty hard not to get a good grade on his assignments seeing how he tells you what to fix before you actually turn it in. Although, if it's hard for you to show up to class and stay on top of your work I wouldn't recommend him. Overall, he's a great professor, if you have the chance to take him, you should totally do it. Chances are you'll definitely learn some stuff!

Summer school 2014! Prof. Tapleshay wants to get to know you, and truly loves his students. The course material was different and better than I though it was going to be; focuses on how it relates to our lives, which was great. Interactive class & nice intro to Joseph Campbell. I highly recommend this Prof., everyone needs to take this class.

Professor Tapleshy is a very good Enghlish 1A. He will make you work for your grade, but you will leave his class a better college writer. He gives you feed back and let you know what to work on to pass his class.

I learned so much from his 1A class! Highly recommend. 1B is such three major projects and quizzes here and there. Pretty easy! Just do have to put in some time.

One of the best English teachers I have ever had. He knows what GOOD writing is. He directed me into what writing should be like. Glad to have taken him. DO watch out for his exams as they will drop grades from A to B.

I have now had several classes with TAPS and I have to say he is easily the best professor I have ever had in any subject. His class not only taught me how to be a better college student, but about life as well. I had a renewed sense of vigor to obtain my degree after his classes.

Prof. Tap is an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and their success. I've taken him twice, and both times I improved as a student. During his lectures, he'll talk about adapting a new attitude about things in our life. He's truly an inspiration. You won't regret taking him but you have to put in the work. He expects the best.

I really enjoyed his class. He's a great professor. He understands his students and makes you feel like he cares about his students. Sit in the front and always be on time. He does get upset about being late but make sure your on his good side.

Absolute BEST proffessor at COD

I took Jack's English 1A class when I was 28, in 1993. I had dropped out of high school and didn't know what to do with my life. Tapleshay was that one professor who demonstrated what great teaching looked like. I was inspired to become a teacher myself and have been teaching 5th grade for 19 years. You won't finish his class the same person!

The best professor I've had yet. I truly left class everyday feeling inspired . He's helpful and understanding . If you have a passion for English, I recommend Mr. T! I wish everyone could take this class. The work is easy as long as your willing to put in the effort.

I also to him for English 1A, which it was the reason why I took this semester. If you show up for class, don't be late, and work hard, you will be able to pass his class. I enjoyed the way he teaches. Great teacher and person. I would take him again.

The Most heart driven professor I've had (so far) at College of The Desert. I had some financial issues which kept me from striving as as student in his class, but he was there and offered his help 100%. If you take his class be ready to put your brain to work at maximum potential, nonetheless, its worth every bit. Jack Tapleshay, you are amazing!!

Tapleshay was probably one the best professors I had. His class was not difficult at all, just make sure you read the text. Attendance isn't mandatory but do your self a favor and go, I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures. His lectures taught about the value of life and the modern myths we face everyday.
