BREEZE! EASY A+...only tests, 20 questions, with an hour and a half to answer them. Listening quizzes are easy b/c when you download them it tells you the artist and title on the download file. Concert video at end, is a little difficult, but if you watch the videos its a breeze. You work at own pace...EASY!!!
This class was awesome (& on-line)! way easier than actually talking a class. All you do is buy the books (2 thin books + CD), You take the practice exams (which you can take over & over with the CD).. write your answers in the pract. test booklet..and Take the real test and get an A+! Good luck!
i finished the entire class in one day. 17 exams in 1 day.. it took all day but hey, better one day than going to a lecture class for 9 weeks oh and i got an A+
Holy Crap was this calss easy... 1 Small problem, the book is way overpriced, but if you've ever sat through a class and said " I wonder if I could slip the teacher a Benjamin to gimme an A" this class is for you.
Okay, yeah this class is easy, but the professor is a dbag! He pretty much does nothing and is very rude about answering questions etc. blehhh
This is a wonderful class!very easy!all you need to do is take short tests any time you like.this class will never give you a headache.very pleasant class!
I was very dissapointed with the class. It was easy yes, but I didnt learn anything. The program that you load on to your computer is extremely complicated. Teacher might have been good, but it was online so I didnt have any interactions with him. It's an easy A, but you wont lean arything about jazz.
Great Teacher!! Fun class for a history credit, and I learned a lot. For all you music students looking for an alternative to Baroque & Classical, or Romantic through 20th Century, THIS IS YOUR CLASS! The TA was very helpfull and he's willing to work with you on anything you have trouble understanding.
EASY, EASY, EASY!!! If you need a fine arts credit, do yourself a favor and take this stupidly easy course. Yes, the book and software are $90, but its so worth it!!! Teacher doesn't do jack, but the TA's will help out. Again...EASY!
WOW WUT AN EASY CLASS!! if you read the slides you will get an A+ The software was a little tricky but other than that, EASY
Online class, so I don't know what I can say about the teacher. Easiest class at the university. Take it if you need your fine arts credit.
If you don't care about not learning anything and paying for one-time only expensive CD-ROM, go for it. This class must be the easiest class, and USF should be ashamed of having this teacher.
Awesome class! I took notes on all of the slides b/c I have no short term memory lol.... i ended up with an A+ because I did everything on time and 95% or better on all tests. TA very helpful, didn't really talk to professor.
Lots of computer glitches. Teacher and TA slow to respond to emails and when they do they are rude. New format this term - so more glitches than usually. BORING class. Each test will take about 2 hours to look through crap and take notes - you will get an A. If you hate fine arts - this is the class for you.
Don't know if this still applies because I took the class a year ago. But it was very easy (I got an A+). Plus, who doesn't like to learn about Jazz? Just be careful, because the software has A LOT of computer glitches. Other than that, very easy and fun class.
I took the Survey of Jazz course and there's is no reason to rate Jack Wilkins with this class at all. Besides getting the software together he has NOTHING to do with it. He's a great person, as far as I know, though I haven't had a class with him, I've never heard bad reports from his real students. You can't judge from and online class!!
easy online class.
This is an "easy A" class in my opinion. I took the class with a friend so we split the readings. Read the readings before the quiz and you'll score a 100%. This is a work at your own pace class. You could finish the whole class in a day if you wanted. Nice class if flexibility is needed. There is 12 quizzes. 10 reading quizzes and 2 music quizzes.
1/2 of assignments due in the middle of the semester and the rest are due at the end. not too interesting. If u take the practice tests over and over again until you get the right answer, you will do fine on the multiple choice quizzes. Listening tests aren't too hard. I suggest writing down the information under each clip for listening tests
Very easy class. Take it to boost your GPA.
This is an easy class. But you must do everything you can to get another teacher. Wilkins is an online teacher so you would think that he would take the time to compose some logical instructions since he doesnt actually do any real teaching. Unfortunately you will spend most of your effort trying to get registered oppossed to learning about jazz.
This course is certainly nothing more than a money making scheme. Don't take this course with Wilkins, find something else.
EASY A! It took me about eight hours total to finish this class and i'm only three weeks into this semester. He gives you everything you need to succeed. My advice is to find a partner and work together. As far a Jack Wilkins, I havent met him but he posts everything on blackboard that you need to know.
This is my one and only A+ in college seriously the easiest class you can take at USF. I'd like to thank the professor for making this success possible. Clear, concise, and too the point I wish all classes were taught this way.
took jazz with him, very easy class. You have to purchase the 70 dollar online book with tests, but it's an easy A for sure. I mean you really just buy yourself an A, but i'd take it to boost your GPA. Dont know much about the teacher, but he sounds funny on the mini lectures he does with the book.
Easy online class. Take the practice quizzes, the exams are almost identical. He blames every problem on Faulkner Media, even if it's a course related trouble rather than a tech. difficulty.
I liked this course, I found it really interesting and it's an easy A! so i recommend!
How is this an easy A? You're given two 10-15 pages of notes to pretty much memorize than are given 2 tests weekly. I literally have to cram for the tests and even then only make a C. There's no open text during the tests and your notes taken will not suffice. This is as much work as any other class.
you have to figure out how to get an A in this class, but it isn't hard to do. Make sure the website is a #1 reference, the notes are great but really long so skim over them!
AWESOME PERSON, AWESOME TEACHER!! GREAT JAZZ BAND!!
Took the class because my friends said it was an easy A. That was before he started making students do pointless research on topics that that are absolutely ridiculous. I would not take this course until he changes it back!!!!
This used to be an easy class, but NO LONGER. Gen Ed. requirements have changed and the research and testing for this class are enormous. If you are NOT a music major, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I am an "A" student, and it was the hardest class I have ever taken. Lots of library usage, MLA citation, and scholarly article testing.Trust me, RUN FAST!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS !! . It has ridiculous about of work and you learn nothing. Not only is the class Web based, all the reading is online as well. The teacher has nothing to do with the class and the TA and Librarian give you tests and research that use MLA and Online database research.I used this class as a Fine Arts credit and nearly failed
Not sure why the bad ratings. There are 3 tests early on that count way too much toward your grade. They are about how to do research, which you do some in this class. The tests are straight from the online readings. You can't have them open during tests, so I typed them into word. It helped me learn and I could search them during tests. Easy A.
3 lit quizzes, 10 chap quizzes, 2 listening quizzes, 4 research assignments/daily posts, 1 jazz concert attendance quiz. Yes the class is harder than before but it is still SUPER easy. The research assignments take 2 hours at most and daily posts 30 min. Just look at what everyone else wrote. Also, take this class with friends for ease with quizes
GREAT EXPERIENCE! I learned way more than I thought that I would. I am not a music major and knew nothing about Jazz. This was a great introduction to Jazz. He is very fair and states what you need to do. Do well on the 10 quizzes and you've got an easy A. He offers extra credit concerts to attend. Excellent teacher! Awesome class!
Teacher was ok, it was ridiculous to have to attend a bunch of concerts. When I took him he wanted us to attend 3 concerts, which was impossible with my school and work schedule. Heard it was easy but there was ALOT of research papers and discussions everyday. Don't waste your time...
Survey of Jazz was a very easy class although the class requires a little more work than previous semesters. An A is definently possible if you just take the time to do the online test, dicussion board, and 1-2 research projects. The class can get kind of annoying when you have better things to do with your time but it is definently easy.
I ended up dropping this class early in the summer semester. Online classes are generally getting more organized... but NOT this one. The blackboard site was really unorganized, misleading, and inconsistent. Also, you have to spend a lot on an slow, outdated software program. Work seemed pretty easy, but due dates and sched were very confusing
Ridiculously easy class. I almost couldn't believe it. 10 tests, based solely off the text. I could have taken this class in my sleep and still passed with flying colors. No joke.
Easiest class you'll ever take in your entire life. Definitely recommend it for that mandatory Fine Arts credit!
Easy class for a fine arts credit. Easy online class as well. Got an A+
Easiest online class ever. All of the quizzes are based off of the text.
Currently taking Jazz Survey online. Extremely well organized. Love the multi-media resources. Took the course because I like jazz. Now I love jazz and have many new favorites: Waller, Gillespie, Monk, plus appreciation for roots of jazz. Great stuff. Highly recommend this class for jazz fans and non fans. Life enriching.
Just finished taking this class online. If you can't make an A here, you shouldn't be in school at all. Extremely easy and actually pretty interesting. I had really no interest or knowledge of Jazz until now. Highly recommended if you need an easy upper level elective or fine arts class.
Online class, fairly easy. Pretty confusing at times, but nothing you can't handle. Text book is online, and all of your quizzes are through that, so you are stuck buying the $90 program. Other than that, I'd say definitely an easy A. Just keep up with the work and ask questions if you are confused about due dates or anything!
Please take this class. weekly quizzes, two db, and online jazz concert attendance or in person. Very easy and interesting. guaranteed A.
This course was really easy. The textbook was overpriced but all the answers for the tests are all verbatim. Easy A.
EASY A! Weekly quizzes but you can none ahead. 2 discussions. And extra credit concert attendance. TAKE THIS CLASS.
This class was very easy and requires minimal effort. I spent less than two hours on this class each week and finished with a 99.4%. The class is very interesting and engaging. Take this class if you can!
Fairly Easy class, 1 quiz a week, 2 weeks of discussion posts and 1 concert test. But it is super easy for it to get away from you and loose track of the deadlines if it slips into the back of your mind. The content of the "textbook" chapters that you are tested on can be very detailed, and so you need to make sure you don't wait until the last min
Easiest class I've ever taken! You get a week to read and take each test and there are only 10 so you finish before the semester ends. You can do extra credit concert video quizzes which are only 10 questions I think, and they are easy too.
Easy class. You have a chapter to read every week and then you take a 20 question exam on that chapter. The only bad thing about this class is that the software for it is HORRIBLE. Be ready to be aggravated and for your computer to be slow. Besides that, it's an easy class.
It was super easy. All you do is take tests on chapters that you read, 2 discussion boards, and one concert test. It's all really easy and clear. The easiest class I've ever had by far.
Online class: everything is laid out in the syllabus. Quizzes will be almost your entire grade but they are relatively easy and almost verbatim from the lectures. Overall very easy class and would take again.
This course is an easy A. All you need to do is read the lectures he posts and then take the short tests every week. Theres 10 tests overall, 2 discussion questions, and one concert attendance.
This is one of the easiest online classes ever. There are 10 sessions in the course, & for each session there is a 20 question test. The tests are simple and contain content from the text and music that was in the text as well. There is an online concert to attend (there will be a quiz after) and two discussions on canvas (easy!). Guaranteed A+.
Easiest class at USF. Ten twenty-question tests, two discussions, and no Final! Enough said.
The course material is easy, however, the software used is absolutely terrible. On top of that, the company that owns the software (which is also authored by the teacher of this class) has problems maintaining security in their system. OVER 30 STUDENTS IN MY CLASS HAVE HAD THEIR CC INFO STOLEN. I wish I never signed up for this class...
Easiest online class ever. 10 test, 2 discussions, and some literary information quizzes. No final. Must buy a code and book online for $99. Test are for each session( chapter) and some questions are specific. But it is online so I wrote a lot of notes and used them and it made the test easy.
Everything is done through the software which is pretty awful. Hard to use and you'll probably have your card info stolen. Use a Visa gift card or something to buy it online. He also claimed no responsibility even though dozens of students had this issue. Other than that, this is the easiest class at USF. Only 10 easy tests and 2 discussions.
EASY A, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Do your tests on time, but you can get ahead if you want. Make sure you do your discussion posts and make sure to do a good job on them because they weigh heavily on your grade. He is very helpful and you can email him if there are any problems and he will respond quickly to you.
The class is extremely easy to pass. Consists of 10 test directly from the textbook. 2 problems. The professor was extremely rude to me through email. Did not appreciate the rudeness. Also, the downloading of the software is terrible. The software for this class is an awful experience. The work is easy, but time consuming,
Easiest class. Rudest and most non-responsive prof at USF tho. I had to go to IT to get his problems sorted out with Canvas. The software used for the class (not Canvas)is GARBAGE and impossible to even download. The perks of getting 3 easy credits in 3 weeks don't outweigh the tediousness of dealing with this prof. Would not recommend to an enemy.
This class is an Easy A. 10 quizzes( You can take them whenever you want) 2 discussions and an online concert EASY A. You can finish in 3 weeks, all the tests 1 week and the discussions the other 2 weeks.
Don't take this mess. The class is unbelievably easy, but so stupid. He's impossible to reach by email, and his software that the class is taught with is absolutely terrible. I missed two quizzes in the beginning because of laziness is why I did not receive an A. Would never-ever take again.
Incredibly easy class as long as you just do the work. I never had to interact with Wilkins, so I can't comment on what others are saying about him.
Super easy class. Mostly quizzes and a couple projects. Best upper level elective you can possibly take!
I was enrolled in his Survey of Jazz online class. The work was easy. Just read the lesson for the week, take notes if you need to then take the quiz. Questions do come from the lecture. At the end of the semester, you're required to "attend" a concert (watch a video) then write your thoughts on it afterward.
This class is an easy A as long as you take good notes. Most of the points are from chapter quizzes, with some easy class discussions in between. The material is somewhat boring, but presented well enough that it isn't too bad.
This class is a cakewalk, read the required readings from the online software and do the tests and you are guaranteed to make a good grade. Downloading shazam will also make your life a lot easier.
The software is awful. The reading only takes about an hour a week, so I guess I can't complain, but it's super boring. The quizzes aren't bad though sometimes the questions are about random details. Do the practice questions. Also do not bother watching the 30 min. jazz casual videos inside the text. Discussions are more time intensive but not bad
Easiest class I have ever taken. Just do your work on time and you'll get an A+
Very Easy A. Take this class if you need a little boost in your GPA
Download the software they tell you to, do the Faulkner tests on time, and write a few sentences on the discussion post. Super easy A just meet the deadlines!
Extremely easy course you could finish weeks before the semester even ends if you wanted to. Only downside was the software was expensive
Took online. All you have to do is download software, read the sessions, and take quizzes. 2 discussion post assignments but both very simple and truly interesting. Clear grading criteria, pay attention to deadlines in Syllabus. Gives quick responses. Software is slightly confusing at first but play around with it and its self explanatory.
Took Survey of Jazz online. Beware that you must buy the program that costs around $100- this is considered the "textbook", but it is where you use for quizzes. The course had 10 quizzes, "concert attendances", two discussions and a global citizens project essay. The posts were graded fairly easily. Not a hard course.
Survey of Jazz is the easiest class I have taken. Although it's a 3000 level class, this is easier than most of my 1000 level classes by far. I finished this class before Thanksgiving Break and you can easily finish it before this if you take the time to do it. The exams are easy and the reading materials are easy. I highly recommend this class.
I've learned this class has gotten a lot harder compared to previous years. you have to buy a $99 online system for the class. tests every week, discussion posts, 2 papers all about nonsense. definitely easy compared to other classes, but still a pain.
I just finished MUH3016 online with professor Wilkins. The class is already very easy and professor Wilkins makes it even easier. I did not dedicate much time to this class and was able to score a 97%. If you do all the assignments with a base level of effort, you should no trouble receiving an A. He is also very accessible and responds quickly.
This class was definitely more time consuming than anticipated. The assignments require some outside research which was a pain because not too much is available on this topic. Easy A if you have the time.
I enjoyed the class, it was very easy and the majority of the class revolved around a downloadable software.
Class took very little time out of my week. I consider it to be an easy A, has two discussion assignments, 10 quizzes, and few summaries. You don't need to know anything about music to do well, they are light graders.
its an online class but he is very unorganized with his syllabus which can make things confusing. Makes you buy his 99 dollar online textbook for readings and quizzes when its just easier to take the quizzes on canvas...
Professor Wilkins is okay, but I would rather take his class in person. He is not good at responding to emails, and I don't find his explanations very clear or organized.
I heard this class was going to be easy, and thought I might as well take it for an easy credit and maybe learn something out of it. However, the professor was incredibly rude and rarely responded to emails. The software that he requires you to use might crash your computer. I wouldnt recommend this class to anyone.
Only take this class if you're oddly passionate about music, and willing to read his syllabus like hieroglyphics because it's very confusing if you don't read carefully.
Do not waste your time on this class, it is not an easy A. This class wouldn't be so difficult if the professor cared to contact students back, and force you to download his textbook on software from the early 2000's, then not care to help you when it messes up.
easy class just the professor can be very full of himself to the point where he has his own accomplishments in the textbook in which HE WROTE
the class is very easy to take and will help you out. Not a hard class as long as you know when the deadlines are.
Professor Wilkins is not a professor I would take again. The software you use is confusing and outdated which can be confusing to navigate. Professor Wilkins was rude and unhelpful when requesting help. He spoke down to me and was rude when asking for a simple walkthrough. Class isn't hard but take it with a different professor.
Professor Wilkens was a terrible professor for this class. The software was soooo confusing. My laptop didn't support his software (Macbook pro newest edition) so I emailed him explaining I couldn't take the test because of it and he told me to email the tech which would take several days and WOULDN'T let me make up the test. The class is easy tho
Prof. Wilkins gives clear instructions as far as what he is looking for in this course. You must read carefully and follow the instructions to earn an A. I had no issues with the Faulkner software or the exam grades posting correctly in Faulkner or Canvas. I earned an A+ in two weeks of this four-week course. Your effort determines your grade.
Extremely easy class. Takes very little time out of the week and as long as you turn in assignments on time and are a decent writer its an easy A
Do not take this class with Wilkins. Requires you buy his own book for $100 that he can't help you with if there's any technical problems. Most pretentious person I've ever met and all the quizzes are just bs memorization of the stuff you just read. Don't take this class, Wilkins should be fired, worthless professor, disgrace to jazz.
I was a little nervous about taking this class after reading some of the ratings. But it was solid. The work is not bad or crazy hard. When I had questions they were answered in a timely manner. Grading did not take long. Be prepared to read!
i took this class in the summer and it was one of the easiest classes to take. your grade is based of 2 quizzes week and a paper and a discussion and finally 3 more quizzes at they end. you will need to buy the Faulkner software for 100 bucks!! other than that the class is very easy with little effort put to it.
The program is 100$ and looks like it was made in 2001. Other than that, it was a fairly easy class. Takes some time, but isn't too difficult. Only thing that makes me kinda mad is that the essay is 1000 words but counts little to your grade. I would still recommend doing it. Overall a boring class, but can be an easy A if you put the time into it.
Professor Wilkins wrote the textbook that is used heavily in the class, nevermind the fact that you can't take the Topic tests without the Faulkner software the textbook is on. Read the topics, take the Topic tests and you should be fine. One essay, but it isn't a dealbreaker for a good grade in the class. Super easy A would take for more credit
take this class it is so easy. do the reading and you will be find. answers to most assignments can be found online. 10 tests, no final, 1 essay, a few quizzes and discussion posts. ended with a 98. assignments are quick and easy.
Twenty-question quizzes once a week, clear instructions for assignments, and few papers. Requires purchase($100)of a textbook he wrote, and the software for the textbook appears outdated. The audio files in the textbook require extra downloads which is a hassle. This class is not hard if you take good notes, but it is boring and time consuming.
Very easy A. I found the class to be a little tedious but the assignments are simple. You will have to purchase the $100 software which is super old and annoying to use. There were 10 tests based off the software material, 2 essays and 3 audio tests at the end of the semester. There's a reason the class is considered the easiest class at the school
Took survey of jazz and it was the easiest A ever.
This was a great way to earn credit for a higher level course that required a little amount of work. One quiz each week and they are so easy if you take pictures of the reading and refer back to it. Two papers, each 1000 words. One discussion post. Three short tests at the end of the course about jazz elements but the answers are all in the module.
Professor Wilkins is a good and easy professor! His survey of jazz class is great for a GPA boost, and interesting. You can work ahead and get a good grade pretty easily. Beware, the textbook is kinda expensive and you have to have it for the software, which is pretty outdated. Otherwise this class is great and Professor Wilkins is a great choice!
There are assigned readings every week, pretty easy. Every Friday, you get a test. That's it, w appropriate gen ed assignments too. Straight forward and self-explanatory. easiest class ever.
This course was pretty straightforward, if you are looking for an easy A course, look no further. Put in some effort, and you could most likely finish this course in a few weeks.
This class is not as easy as everyone says. The work was so tedious, and I don't think I actually learned a single thing. There were two 1,000-word papers, ten quizzes, three final tests, and a handful of other scattered assignments. The software is so outdated and difficult to navigate. Do yourself a favor and take another elective for an easy A.
Awful class, Wilkins should be fired. Most pretentious man I have ever met. He required us buy HIS TEXTBOOK, from him directly. The software was 100 dollars and not worth it. The software was outdated, and had several typos, (you would expect perfection from a man who thinks so highly of himself but I guess not). Doesn't help his students. awful.
easy A. perfect for Maymester!! you can finish the whole course in a week if you have the time! yes, software is super old and $100, but... easy class. perfect for bus majors needing a quick non-bus course
This class was cake. I only ever used google and ended with an A+. all the answers are easily accessible online and the paper wasn't hard at all. my only complaint with this class and this professor is that you have to pay $100 for the outdated software you do the homework on. It sucks. He could easily just put them on canvas. but he is really nice
The class is easy. You get this old-looking software and answer online quizzes every week based on lectures. The quizzes are open note and answers are easy...... Overall, the only downside to this class is that the software is not intuitive (very antiquated) and its $100. Otherwise, easy credits.
this class is VERY EASY. I barely try on the papers and get full credit every time. Only downside is that the software looks very outdated, but once you get used to it its easy to use. Very easy A that you can half try to earn. 10 Online 20Q multiple choice tests that are straight out of the text. A few papers and other things too.
Easiest class at USF. Taken for my final open elective. Highly recommend. At most 1-2 hours a week in this course. Professor does not accept late work.
His rubric for his papers is very clear, it is super easy to do well in this class. There are textbook quizzes every week but they aren't that difficult.
If you're in doubt about taking this class... take it. Easy 3 credits, especially if you put in a little bit of effort. The only downside is that the software costs $100, but it's very user friendly and accessible. There's quizzes on the text every week, and the answers come straight from the text. I'd take this course again if I could.
The class is extremely easy, and the tests are straightforward. The only downside is that you must purchase his $100 textbook and software, which are unbelievably outdated and clunky. Overall, the class is worth the credits, but it's frustrating to buy such useless software (that he profits from) when a completely free alternative exists.
Nice easy class for Gpa booster, and professor responds in a timely manner.
Easy class for a GPA boost. The weekly textbook quizzes are straightforward, and Unstuckstudy was a great study tool alongside the provided materials. The software is a bit outdated, but overall a solid option.
