I had her for English 102, and I liked her so much that I chose her for 103. She is very flexible if you have a problem and is willing to help. She also offers extra credit which is not too common anymore. I really recomend her.

I hate English with a passion, but I didn't mind going to her class. She's very realistic in her grading and understands that not everyone is a writer. She chooses writing topics that would appeal to Joe Shmoe.The perfect choice if you don't like English.

Very friendly, and kind to students, sympathetic to circumstances. It is not impossible to get an A, but it needs to be worked for. Probably one of the most fair professors I have had at this school.

Assignment instructions are very clear and helpful to getting a good grade. She is helpful and answers questions thoroughly. She cares about your expectations of the class, and wants to know if you understand material. Great class!

She is a very nice person and understanding. I actually learned a few things from her. Instead of writing 1 paper u have 2. She won't keep u bored and let u go before the end of the period. Without trying hard I got a B. I think she passes everyone no matter what. Great , great , teacher.

I had missed class for like 3 weeks straight and fell very behind. She let me turn in a paper about a week late and didn't take off points on it. She was SO helpful through everything. I got a B in the class. She is an awesome teacher...i highly recommend her!

I LOVED this class, it exposed me to some really great writers and we always had great discussions. The instructor is very friendly and really enthusiastic about the material, exploring different media avenues to teach it. Her excitement is infectious. I always loved going to this class and left with a smile on my face.

My first internet class was great, taking it with McGrath. She was very helpful in any questions that I had, and made taking this class very interesting and easy. The stories we read were great.

Professor McGrath's class is pretty easy and fun. She selects interesting topics for essays and has game days and field trips every now and then. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. The only thing I didn't like was her strict attendence policy. After 3 absences, you will be dropped.

She was a great intructor & I would highly recommend her class.

The "easiness" ratings do not do her justice. The excitement she generates in her classes stimulate you, and your performance reflects that. Make time in your schedule to take a class with Ms. McGrath. You won't regret it!

This professor was really great. Go to class! She requires it, you can miss a couple days, but you won't want to. Discussion everyday and very interesting. No tests, just quizzes and papers. Easy A if you apply yourself, you don't have to be a genius.

Jackie is one of the best teachers I've ever had. You can just call her Jackie, instead of prof McGrath, which gives the class a personal tone. She's down to earth and very helpful. The class is fun too; you watch movies, and then write papers on them. I recommend taking her class, you won't regret it!

Took her for both 1101 (got an A)... and 1102 (got a B). You have to put some work, she will challenge you. BUT! You will learn how to write very well! Honestly, it's a class where i learned something! Take her!

Professor Mc Grath is the best eng;ish teacher. Her class is easy. Only 2 research paper for the whole semester and no essay for final exam. You will get easy full points in most of the essay you do most of the time. You wouldn't regret taking her class and i highly recommend her.

She reminds of juno by how she talks going from loud to quiet and asnwering with a question. Hard gradder. Extremely helpful. Stays after class to answer all your questions.

Proffesor McGrath is very nice, smart and helpful. I took her for 1101 we only had to turn in 2 essays, worked a lot on them in class with helpful tools she makes you do. I think she's very helpful and would really encourage you to take her!

Jackie is Fantastic! Eng 1101 with her was fun and simple. We watched documentary's then had to write essays about them. Shes a relatively easy grader, and is extremely helpful! Highly recommended!!

Took her for both 1101 and 1102, and she's awesome. In 1102 you learn the most by asking her individual questions. Class sometimes got out 10-20 minutes early, but don't skip! The activities done during class actually count for points, and participation is a decent chunk of your final grade.

BEST TEACHER AT COD! She always lets you know when the assignments are due and she lets you know exactly what she expects from you to get the highest grade possible. Class can get a little boring at times but she sees that and tries to spice it up a little. I would recommend her to anyone.

She's a great teacher! She is so nice and approachable, so if you have any questions, she is very willing to help. Always so clear on what she is expecting in papers. Watched a couple documentaries and then had to write a paper about it; pretty easy, but grades hard. Would highly recommend her!!!

Extremely easy. Guides you through absolutely everything to the point where it's like she's holding your hand. Anyone who has difficulties with English will benefit from her class. Anyone who is good at English should take someone more challenging. We spend 8 weeks on a SINGLE paper. This was frustrating. Didn't learn much.

VERY nice and VERY helpful! She's always smiling and you can tell she just loves teaching. Only 2 papers (1 individual, 1 group), but spreads out the points based on research, rough drafts, and what have you. If you're a good writer, you'll have no trouble with this class, and if you aren't, you might learn something. Glad I took her for 1102!

Prof. McGrath is a GREAT Teacher. She is very fair, knows the subject matter very well. Just attend class take good notes and do all the homework assignments and you will do very well on the tests. I had her first semester in class and second semester online. Both of them were super easy, this was my first online class and she made it very organized and simple. I took the 8 week class which was a bit of a rush, I would recommend the 16 week course. Overall, she is awesome!

She is a great teacher! It is a very easy class. Papers were on documentaries we watched and we had 2 essays per movie, first was revised into the second final paper for that movie. We watched a total of 3 movies. I hate English but she made it very easy and was not strict to previous writing standards you may have been taught.

Jackie is passionate about what she teaches and very friendly. She is always willing to help, answers questions in class and in email outside of class. She grades extremely fairly and encourages creative thinking. Class consists of watching documentaries and learning the techniques of writing using them as a base. It is not a movie review class.

She's very friendly even though there was something due every day. You have to post a lot to the discussion board and reply to other students' posts with meaningful feedback. She's not a hard grader, but make sure you do all the small assignments correctly (they're helpful). I recommend this class only if you struggle with writing research papers.

Very nice person, her strategies of making you re write your own papers using different wording were very helpful to me. Though I felt this was one course where I would have fallen very behind if I didn't come to class. Using documentaries as subjects for papers was extremely nice though.

I took this online class so that I could fulfill one of my degree requirements, but I wish I would've taken it on campus. She is a great teacher, but perhaps I'm missing the face to face attention. Fairly easy class, clear instructions on work & tons of time to do it. I would take the class in school if I were to choose again, but she is very fair.

Its an English paper class, so 6 papers, 3 RD and 3 FD. She has you watch 3 movies in class and then lets you work on the paper the majority of the class. It was a fun class and I never felt that I didn't earn the grade I was given or lost points for silly stuff. She is a fair and fun teacher.

I took the online class and at the beginning of the class it felt like a lot of busy work and dumb little time-wasting assignments but later on, when we wrote our research papers it was so easy because of all the assignments we had done. Even though it was online, Jackie was always there through email to help you out. Do the work, get the A

Jackie is extremely helpful when you ask her for help. She always reminds you a week in advance when things are due to make sure no one forgets them. Her assignments are very straight forward. Not a lot of work is required, just a lot of reading. Only one paper, which is extremely easy. TAKE HER

Very great professor! Requires a lot of participation with discussion boards and blog posts but we only wrote one research paper over the course of the entire semester. I took her for 1101 and she was incredible. We wrote three argumentative papers. One each on three different Documentaries. Classes were mostly just watching the documentaries and then discussing them. Classes are quite fun. She gives good feedback and is flexible with deadlines. She is definitely one of my favorite teachers at COD.

I loved the set up of the class. Participation isn't that mandatory. You get four absences per half semester. I would use those wisely because some days, nothing important happens opposed to days that you do a graded activity. She gives great feedback and will help you out a ton if you show her you care. In my case my grade got bumped up.

Prof. McGrath was such a caring professor, and I am so happy that I took her my first semester. We watch 3 movies through the semester, basically write three "rough drafts" and then fix our paper with teacher's review and also a peer review. It's a pretty straightforward class, and I would love to take her again.

Honestly, it's not mandatory to show up to her class, but she does give out &quot;hwk assignments&quot; on days if there is a lot of absences that day. She's an amazing professor. We mostly watch documentaries and wrote papers on them, which was amazing. She gives out a lot of great feedback, and she's amazing. Hilarious, and is clear on what she grades.

Came into her class dreading taking an English course, and left feeling hopeful for English1102. The course consists of watching 3 documentaries, writing 6 papers and 3 peer reviews as well as weekly assignments that should take no longer than an hour. TAKE HER if you want an A. Her kind personality will make you look forward to her class.

This class is SUPER manageable. Each day there is work to do, but if you stay up with the work you should be fine. Each thing post takes less than 20 minutes, so work ahead. She adds lots of easy discussion points that build your grade up. This class consists of lots of discussion posts, an annotative bibliography, a rough draft and a final paper.

I took 1101 twice and got a D both times because it seemed like the most difficult class (thanks to the professors) but McGrath literally made everything feel like cool breeze in the summers sun. Professor McGrath is a wonderful teacher! She genuinely cares for her students and is always available if you have any questions about anything. She also takes time out of class to show students the different resources COD has to offer which I appreciated a lot. As long as you do the assignments there's no reason you won't pass this class.

The entire class is based around an 8-9 page paper. She grades pretty easily, but I recommend picking a topic that you're truly passionate about. It'll make it a lot easier. There's a lot of assignments, but they're short and easy to complete. She provides a lot of resources for writing too. Overall, wonderful!

Jackie is one of the best Professors I have had at CoD and in general. She is respectful of her students and understands we have things going on outside of class. Her feedback is great and she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. Her grading criteria is clearly outlined and if you try you'll get an A.

Went from in person to online due to pandemic, transition was easy. She holds live sessions, gets back to emails, cares about her students clearly. She is a tough grader, which could be frustrating, BUT ultimately she builds up your skills. In class participation does matter, some group activities involved. Read the unit short stories, write 200 word discussion posts. 1-3 posts per week. Fun stories! Literally the easiest class Ive ever taken. Got 100% by just doing what she asks. She knows it isnt an Eng class so she is very understanding if you dont know how to write in MLA or anything. No wrong answers. Responds to emails super fast. TAKE HER!

Took 5 week course during the summer with Dr. McGrath and I absolutely loved it. The class was very organized, broken down with understandable and reasonable amount of work due each day. Class was set up to work on one major essay, no tests. Loved how organized this class was and how well she communicated what was needed to succeed. Awesome class!

Professor McGrath broke down the entire semester long research paper into easier, smaller chunks. It made a daunting assignment easier to complete without getting overwhelmed by our final turn in date. Basically, there is just one 8-10 research paper the entire semester. It requires a ton of work but it is easy to manage. Understanding/reasonable.

I had Professor McGrath for two classes this summer, English 1102 and Short Fiction. Both classes were condensed into one month so it was fast-paced. For English 1102, you will need the textbook! I didn't have it and had to bluff my way through. She gave good feedback and graded things quickly. She was also accommodating. Overall a good class.

Professor McGrath was such an amazing professor! She answered emails at such a fast pace, and she actually answers them fully! She's very understand of any odd personal situations, and she modifies her class around that issue! Even as an online class, she made it so that her class seemed like it was in-person as she has many collaborative work.

Professor McGrath is super nice!!! She is very understanding and is not a harsh grader. The only thing is, there are a lot of assignments, but maybe it just seems like a lot since it's an online class. I would 100% love to have her as a professor again.

McGrath is very clear with her assignment instruction. Took her online class that was asynchronous and had to do assignments just about every day, unlike some other professors who make their assignments due at the end of each week. While workload may seem overwhelming, the daily assignments are actually pretty short and really keep you consistent.

This was one of my favorite classes I've taken! McGrath does an awesome job of communicating with students. There are assignments everyday however if you stay consistent, they are easy to complete. There is one main essay you are writing throughout the class, but each assignment she gives feeds into it. She's incredibly helpful. Would recommend!

I took this course as an 8-week online class. There is homework due about every day, but it's simple stuff like (write a comment about your paper, quick discussion posts, and replying to classmates' posts). You do work every week towards building your research project. It was a simple, easy class, with the option to redo for a better grade.

I took her over the summer and she's great, super respectful and really wants you to succeed in her class. Sometimes the readings and papers can be a little scary but she's really accommodating when it comes to stuff like that. I'd definitely recommend her if you are looking for a good English professor!
