Jacky is the best math teacher yet

awesome teacher but is a little intense sometimes.

Well,u may think that the tests ar hard. Absolutely not, if u know the materials in the notes and practice on your own, u definitely will get a good grade from him. However, in the exam, u have to do the way he teaches. If not, he may "dang" with one mark even if u get the answer rite. If u get the answer wrong and not use his method u will get 0

He is little intense sometimes. He is a very good teacher with good notes. He gives advantage to the students who attend his class.

He's a good teacher. Does a lot of examples in class, so you understand what's going on. His exams are like the examples he gives, so do the examples. He makes mistakes sometimes when answering questions and doing examples, so you have to watch out a little. All in all, he's a good teacher and I would take him again.

What to do...what to do? Expect to hear that at least once per class. He assumes you already know your stuff before you get in there so either know your stuff or fake it well. He can be a little confusing at times, but it's more entertaining than anything. Also, he needs a calendar because he never knows what day it is when you're doing problems!

This is a hard course,if you're not going to try you are not going to do well no matter who your prof is. Jacky makes stats a little easier than others. He gives good notes instead of just reading a ppt and his examples on them are pretty much what u would expect to find on a exam. If you sit near the front you may actually learn something.

Jacky Li is a great teacher. I liked him alot. In the beginning I didn't but after a few classes I started to really love his classes. Just do all the examples at home. His quizzes and tests are good too. I didn't use my text book much. He's a great teacher and he's funny too. I would recommend him and would love to take more classes with him.

Jacky is a great teacher. This is my first year in U, I would say he is one of the best. He is well-organized. His notes are great. Very easy to follow. His teaching method is unique and good writing skills on the board. But sometimes, he got excited and talked very fast. Kind of funny :)

I used to fear stats a lot, but Jacky taught this class to me with ease. his notes are extremely clear and simple to understand. you don't even need to read the txt, it's for HW only. tests are straight forward out of his notes, fair, and short. you do need to good understanding of math to do well in this class.

Great Teacher! His notes, assignments and midterms are all related to each other. It is not an easy class, but I know I learned something here. If you do your homework and the excel assignments, you will get a good mark. :)

Jacky teaches an incredibly challenging subject for most students, and does his best to make the material comprehensible to students unfamiliar with Statistics. His exams are very fair and don't ask unfamiliar questions. Jacky gives half marks on exams, which will prove to make or break your grade!

nice guy, great teacher. Notes are easy to follow, as long as you attend his lectures and get everything clear, its gurenteed an A out of this course. He does expect his students to pay attention during lecture, if you are planning to fall asleep, you'll probably end up hating him. I took the course w/ zero interest but I actaully enjoyed his class

Amazing teacher if you go to class and pay attention there is no way you can fail. His notes are amazing no need to even open the textbook. Go to class and WILL get a high mark.

Overall good teacher, makes jokes which makes class fun..attend all his classes and you will pass with a good mark...tests are based exactly on notes (changes numbers on the exact same questions from the notes)...always attends office hours

Jacky is an awesome teacher! I used to hate math until i took his class. His teaching skills are as clear as possible and he is always there to help. He really encourages his students to do well, which kept me motivated throughout the course.

Best business professor, hands down. Very helpful, very kind and most of all, has a positive attitude which leads to good teaching skills! Got a B+ in his other business class too :) never had a second thought when taking a course with this prof!

Jacky is a good professor. He uses real life examples with Business Math. He is also quite funny, and is willing to help. He makes the business math concepts easy/moderate to understand. Highly recommended for this course.

This professor will make learning Statistics easier with his handouts. Make sure you attend ALL his classes. He gives excellent Real-Life examples on use of stats. Understanding Excel before going into class will help.

best prof for any first year courses

He's a great teacher. In class he makes sure that everyone understands before he moves on. It's really important to go to class, he goes over a lot of things. Some of the assignments can be tough though. Need the textbook.

Gives handouts for everything in the class, theyre his own notes that you work through each class. Really good to explain things, and make sure everyone understands before moving on. You only need the textbook if you need the extra help to get through topics.

Very good prof everything is from his notes tests are easy but you have to know what you're doing to do well on them. However stats is a pretty dry subject so make sure you're willing to do the work Jacky also outlines that 65% of students will fail the class first time they take it this was a bit extreme but this definitely keeps you on your toes

Funny how some people are rating him so low. To those people, I would say: Don't skip class! Pay attention! Do the assignments! Study! It's not always the prof's fault. Maybe you just don't work hard enough. Got a C with Esther, got an A+ with Jacky. Enough said. His notes are clear, no need to buy the book. Nice and funny guy too. Would recommend.

Focus on understanding the differences between each type of problem so you know which method to apply on the exams. Do ample practice i.e. class problems and assignments. If you do that, this class should be pretty straightforward. Don't buy the book, his notes are great.

Passionate. Has an accent. Focuses on the the main topics. Provides great notes. If you are great with one-line definitions i.e. 'a frequency distribution is a tabular summary of the frequency' you will not need the book. Assignment solutions needs editing. Provides formula booklet for exams. Study the notes. Practice the assignments.

Best teacher at Kwantlen. He's thorough, helpful, gives great examples and makes sure everyone understands what he's talking about before moving on. He is the perfect example of a great prof. Your mark will be a fair representation of your effort. Highly Recommend.

I didn't do much homework besides a few questions and just read over his notes so I honestly thought I bombed that final, but for some reason, I passed the course with a sufficient grade. I was ready to take him again next semester (because he honestly is a great, funny guy), but I guess now there's no need. Pick Jacky!

Did better than I expected.

Excellent teacher. Stats probably 1 of the hardest courses in first year. With that being said, jacky will try to make it as easy as he can. His notes are perfect, he's young so he is understanding and keeps you interested, his hwk is a MUST..if you can do his hwk then you'll ace all his exams, hwk solutions will help you understand the material.

I took his class when I was in 1st year. I failed badly. I didn't go to the classes and I failed a few other classes too. I went back to school this year and decided to be serious about learning. Then I really got his class. Do the homework and go to the class. I can't believe I got a A. I wasted so much time! And he cares and sometimes very tense.

He is a really generous grader, I had a few quizzes I was sure I would have gotten 0 but he gave me even 1-3 marks for the things I did do right. He is funny and fair! Do your assignments and study your notes and you will be fine.

Jacky is a great teacher. His English is sometimes a bit muddled but if you show up to each class and do all of the HW he provides then you have no excuse. He gives you a nice Email Guide that will be of use in future courses and provides you with all of the courses. I really could have gotten an A but had to study for other Accounting Exams!

he is not bad b/c he gave away a good and straightforward note; you probably don't need a txtbk but BA II Calculator, which is original one is fine. but, the thing is if you can get used his teaching style. sometimes, he goes so fast, but do not be afraid telling him to slow down because he wants to kindly cooperate as a team. he is fine with that.

HIghly recommend! He is a funny guy. If you don't understand, just ask him. He will help you with patience even you know you are driving him crazy. If he can be the instructor in all my marketing courses, I believe that I can graduate in First Honor. :)

Fast lectures but actually seems to care his students pass. You really need to pay attention and keep up, but while he seems cold on the outside he's a really good professor and nice guy. If he is too fast you can ask for clarification, he will always stop for even one student to explain.

If you complete the assignments, study his group midterms and attend class then this class will be easy. Having previously taken Jacky in BUQU 1230, I decided to take BUQU 1130 as an elective because Jacky is an amazing prof! Jacky genuinely cares about the success of his students and will hold you accountable to study hard and do that work you're required to do. The class is very straightforward and if you study, you'll do great. Would take again!

I've taken two classes with him, he is an actual teacher. He makes sure to teach you so well, that you will not have to do any homework or assignments. Pay attention in his class, and you will get an A.

He is a great teacher. Learning the content & passing is made easy as he is organized. You have to watch his weekly videos while completing the work sheets & HW (less than 2 hrs/week). The only cons is he is SASSY as hell. He hardly responded to my emails or forum questions. Consider him a great teacher but slightly rude/unprofessional.

Prof Li's class is graded on 2 midterms each 20%, Final 40 %, and homework 20%. The homework is basically a GPA booster, just complete and it should be no problem. He posts his lectures online and they are straight to the point and don't waste your time and the live lectures basically go over the homework. Exams are similar to homework. Easy A.

I liked his class because the exams are very similar to his assignments. If you can do the assignments, you will do great on the exams. Also, he cherry picks topics from chapters, so sections are more focused and applied. He can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but nothing you can't overcome. Just do the assignments and you will be fine.

Jacky gave out assignments but as long as you hand it in, the mark is yours. His exams are quite similar to the assignments so no point in studying extra. His lectures are a bit long and boring but easy A if you do the assignments, totally recommend him.

His YouTube video help you to understand whole syllabus. If you complete all the assignments and test you can get a good grade. friendly, teaching general things like punctuality, how to respect others and etc, other than the subject matter

He went too fast on his lectures every meeting, taught us how to use a calculator and not the formula which is helpful and easy. makes jokes usually and fun. you must attend his lectures and ask question to really understand the topic. Great overall.

Jacky was clear about the course from start and made it very easy. Gave assignments every week but they were not too difficult. Also he gave 2 days to complete a weekly quiz test which was also based on assignment questions, not too hard again. You just have to be attentive during the class and understand your assignment questions properly.

I really love his lessons as mostly it is easy to understand and he would answer the questions clearing in the lesson. Also link it to life sample so that would be useful knowledge to daily life.

He is very good professor. You need to watch his videos to do assignments. Every week, there is quiz. I forgot to rate him on KPU website, so, I am here to rate him. I am really thankful to professor because he has given me second chance in this course because my midterm was somehow similar to my classmate. Thank you professor to save my life.

This class is easy if you put in the effort. However, be ready for constant nagging and for him to spend time in class making you feel bad. If you do better on the final than the midterm he gets rid of your midterm mark. He is pretty cold in his emails and not understanding of a student's situation. If ur not good at math take this class - its easy

Jacky explains everything thoroughly so the material is easy to learn, however he can be hard on his students at times. If you watch his lecture videos and do the homework, then this class will be fine for you. Overall, I would highly recommend Jacky if you want to take BUQU 1130 and/or BUQU 1230 because he makes these classes tolerable.

I took him for BUQU 1130 and 1230. Note that I am awful in math and got a B+ and A in his classes. The exams are the same style as the homework and there is nothing on the exam you haven't seen before. He sometimes used homework questions on the tests. He is a good prof but he can be mean in his live classes. I recommend him though.

Jacky is a nice person he gives clear instructions. Although there are quizzes every week, they are similar to the homework. So do ur homework and u will pass the course with a nice grade.

Professor Jacky posts lecture videos and have recorded classes. If you do the assignments weekly and actually try to understand the questions, you will do good in this class.

I really respect Professor Li. What is for homework is the exact format for tests and the final. Listen to his lectures and DO THE HOMEWORK. Work hard to understand the topics and you'll pass with flying colours. I didnt try in the beginning but once i started to study and attend his lectures and actually listen my grade boosted a lot.

This particular class is not hard. You can honestly just figure out the homework urself without going to lectures lol. The exams are basically exactly the same with the homework. He literally will just change a couple of numbers and put the same things in the exam. If u know how to do it u just cannot be wrong cuz everything is done by Excel autoly

The best prof ever took him for 1130 and 1230 and he was amazing for both classes as long as you pay attention in class and do the weekly 5-6 homework questions you will easily get a good grade

Straightforward with what he wants from you, can be irritating if you don't like showing work, just draw the stupid timelines worth 50% for each question and you'll do good in this class. Can sometimes go on tangents. May make you feel dumb if you don't get it immediately. Overall just learning how to use the financial calculator the whole course.
