Played favorites in the class, giving compliments to only those who she liked, very frustrating. Enjoyed seeing students humiliated in front of the class. Dragged on about faults as a writer. Never left class happy.
Kind of shows favoritism at times, but can be nice. Very different, and expects the best from people and seems to believe there is no stupid answer. Not too difficult and doesn't like to give tests or quizzes. Does embarass people sometimes who don't want to speak out loud.
Confusing, not in her comprehension of the material but her over-all opinion of the class. Either she hid how she really felt well, or she was so transparent it was clear nothing could please her. I had hoped to find a better understanding of the material and the dynamics of the class; it was useles
I think that she had good intentions, altough her intentions were a bit sour at times. I think that she knows her material very well and shows it. The only thing I didn't like was how she played favorites.
Do not take her for Freshman Comp. She likes to play favorites, always picks apart your papers although you never have any idea what she wants and is not helpful at all. Awful teacher.
Professor Gellar is a great english teacher, she has in class discussions of all texts, and she prompts the discussion, but doesn't lecture. If you pay attention to the things she stresses in class, you will do fine on the tests. Coming from a math major, take Professor Gellar's class.
It's rather impossible to be prepared for her moodm as well as little comments she makes at people, or yelling at individuals for making noise. She really plays favorites, which is an annoying hinderance when you want to participate in class.
The class was so easy, but she was quite moody and played favorites as long as you read and pay a little attention to her lectures you'll be fine.
If your not paying attention atleast make sure you can do a good impression of paying attention or shell get you! If you are confused she seems helpful although shes not going to be nice about advice all the time. (If your paper sucks shell be sure to let you know) If you do it her way you can get a good grade.
While Professor Geller definitely favors those who are interested and engage (don't expect a good grade if all you do is show up) in the class. She is a fairminded and excellent professor.

GRRR...stay away if you want clarity. She doesnt care about her students enough to give feedback unless youre one of the favorites. Scarred my GPA, Im switching my major most likely now.
I busted my ASS for a A-. You either get it or dont with her grades. I went to her once about why I got a horrible grade, she wasnt clear as to why and after i explained myself she wouldnt listen. Pressed for a certain topic for my paper and midway I wanted to change it and wouldnt let me, then didnt like my paper. I hated her.
One of the best classes Ihave had at CCSU. You got do the reading and the writing. On the writing you have to do it yourself.
this lady needs to get the stick outta her ass. never smiles. nothing but negative feedback. always looks pissed off and like she's doing us a favor by teaching us. Not always clear in directions or expectations. shes one to stay away from if you love english. she'llkill your gpa and enthusiasm. yuk.
response paper every monday but you can use your book, careful she's very particular about your answers. as long as you participate in class and do the reading, its not bad. her lecture is entertaining at least! one 10 page min paper due at the end of the semester but no exams. she can shoot you down. take her if you're confident in reading skills
she's not always clear in her directions or expectations and not at all helpful with papers. Get help from someone else. Looks like she'd rather be somewhere else. Most of us which she was. If you love English or are a major, try someone else, ask around, there are better profs in the dept. Geller will leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

I loved her, i took her for 205 and 335. she really knows her stuff and is so funny. she is really hard and you have to do the reading, but i loved her lectures. she is a feminist so she loves reading women, and is very passionate, i think it is worth taking a class with her, but be careful she is a hard grader
All i can say is avoid her at all cost. Everyone in the class didn't agree with how she teached. When the whole class has a problem with the teacher, it has to tell you something. The women is brillant, but she too brilliant for her own good.
Makes you work very very hard, but I felt like I came away from the class with more of a knowledge than I could ever have gotten from someone less driven. Worked insanely hard for an A-, but strongly feel I mastered the material and got a glimpse of true English through a clear set of eyes.
NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's unreasonably demanding, extremely intimidating, and has a way of cutting down your mere suggestion of interpretation so that you feel intellectually handicapped. She's terrible!!!!! I regretted having her EVERY moment I suffered through her class, but you will learn much more than you ever wanted to on the subject.
Horrible! Avoid at all cost is right. She will scar you for life. Thinks she is hot definitely not. If you love English if it is your passion she will kill that passion.
The Worst! Should never be allowed in a classroom, probably should not be allowed in public! does not care about students or anyone else. When you talk to her she nods her head but you can tell she is thinking about something else.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES FROM THIS THING. I CAN'T CALL HER A PERSON BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT QUALIFY. DON'T BELIEVE IT. READ HER RATINGS FROM NYU. I WISH I HAD. OR READ THE ARTICLES ABOUT HER BOOK (THE ARTICLES AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET) SHE IS A DISGRACE TO FEMINISM!
Give her a broom and a pointy black hat and she would be the wicked witch of the East with no need for makeup or preparation except that she never smiles or laughs. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
I scheduled a meeting with her. I made a special trip in 20 miles. When I arrived she was not there. I waited 20 minutes and she never showed up. I asked at the office and no one could tell me where she was. She could have called or emailed she has yet to say anything about it.
If you have a complaint don't bother going to the department they protect her. Go directly to the Dean!!!
One of the most knowledgeable and passionate professors I have ever had. She is a true feminist and a professional who really knows her subject. If you want to learn something take her class.
Lets get serious. If you can't pull off at least a C in her class, you shouldn't be going to college. Our class worked off of an English 401 worksheet for all of our assignments. We wrote three ten page essays, which at first was daunting. She made writing them EASY!
Sure you should be able to pull off a C but why screw up your GPA or deal with this pain in the ass, when there are better professors in the department.

Bad Teacher Bad Class Beware
The worst experience of my academic life.
Hard Grader,Not a Nice Person,Has No Respect for People or their viewpoints or feelings. She will crush you if she does not agree with you. Thinks she knows everything. Fails half the class. Stay Away
God help whoever takes this class she is horrible extremely inconsiderate &rude she gives a ton of work & will rip your papers opinions thoughts &anything that is said or written down apart avoid this class at all costs unless you want to fail &repeat it next semester
Grades unfairly, is always in a bad mood as if she does not want to be there. will rip you to shreds for any idea that does not agree with her beliefs
Big Mistake! Don't take her class. She grades hard and plays favorites.
Takes herself way too seriously. Thinks she knows everything. She does not. Never smiles, never laughs, never is light hearted or handed about anything. Will ruin you passion for the subject.
Extreme mood swings! Probably suffers from Bipolar disease or some other mental disorder. Beware!!!!
She is probably one of the hardest English teachers that you can have as a freshman, while others are writing fictional papers you will be writing 10 page reasearch papers. However, she will teach you how to write a good paper and if you can pass her class you will never struggle to write again.
The worst experience of my life. She does not teach you anything except that you have to bend to her whims.
Do not take her class you will regret it.
Shes tough but if you do the work youll do fine. There are only 2 real grades in the class: paper and presentation. She tells you exactly what she expects so its just a matter of sitting down and doing the work. Shes also pretty accommodating if you talk to her. Tedious lectures but entertaining. In retrospect, one of my favorite classes at CCSU.
She was hard but I learned the most from this class. Not just for writing papers for this class (which were at least 8 pages) she taught me how to write a successful paper. She is hard and has her own answers to her questions, so it's hard to answer them, but stick with her. I learned so much.
She's an excellent teacher who really knows what she?s talking about. It?s awesome when teachers are well rounded in more than just their personal favorite literature. She is definitely a teacher who thrives on knowing as much as she can. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and thought she really made my experience in class a good one. If you do your re
God aweful
Condescending. Laughs at students. Grades students with personal bias. Narcissist. Comes to class late and talks about her personal life in class. Classroom atmosphere is very uncomfortable.
My dog died, and I didn't do the reading. She didn't accept that as a valid excuse to let me take the quiz the next class, which was only 2 days later. I don't care that I got a B+ in the class, I care that she's a heartless human being. She knows her stuff, but can be an awful person in the process of teaching.
She tries to be sophisticated but cannot understand very simple things. Very dry and dull person, she is the professor, you are the student, therefore she is correct in every matter.
um ppl in the eng dep need to get on the same page this teacher will teach u a new useless form of english all wrong aspiring english majors dnt listen to her i think she should get a new job
She is mental stay away from her class.
It was so painful watching this woman embarrass students in class during their presentations. She continuously interrupted them with ridiculous questions, and when they couldn?t come up with an answer of her liking, she would have no problem with making them look dumb and ashamed. She?s uncompromisingly forthright & bold with a touch of rudeness.
For being an intro class.. there was a lot of reading and 3 long papers that were unfairly graded. I have never gotten such a low grade in an English course before. Also the professor tends to pick on certain students. I would suggest a different teacher if possible.
She tends to play favorites and pick on those who she doesn't like, so be on her good side. Class gets really boring. 3 papers which had to have multiple drafts of each. Grades hard. Her way or you wrong. All that said, she really prepares you for your future writing. Isnt that what this class is for?
She is not a great teacher. Although some points are interesting she is an extremely hard grader. I've never received such a low grade for a paper. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN HELP IT! She takes attendance and understands tardiness or absences but it's better to attend so you are aware what you need to do for next class. Worst English professor ever
She's awful! What a poor reflection of CCSU's English Department, which on any given day I really enjoy and respect. In a nutshell....rude, selective in who she decides to help, condescending and a black cloud hovering over the Willard Building!
Awful class. I dreaded her class every time I had to go. She's full of herself and puts down her students on a regular basis. Avoid at all costs!
Never got such a low grade on an essay. Very hard grader. Has no problem making you feel like an idiot if you answer a question incorrectly. Do NOT take her if you can help it. You use the books a good amount. Relatively clear on what she wants but can be slightly misleading. If you're gonna go to class make sure you did the assignment.
I had Geller for Jane Austen and I couldn't understand the negative reviews posted here. She's one of the smartest teachers I've ever taken. Her class is challenging, but rewarding. Her tests are easy and there's no final, just a presentation. Fantastic Professor.
Dr. Geller was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in her Jane Austen class. She can be a little tough, but it makes you pay more attention to what you're learning and these lessons stick with you in the end. Class participation is a must.
Her freshmen comp is the same class as intermediate comp, same papers, same grading. Always is rude and picks on students. grades harshly C+ is the highest grade if you did a great job. You cant have a opinion, its like a math teacher teaching English, a devil, Needs to be fired.
I have to agree with some of you guys. She is a tough and demanding professor. I had to take the class over again because the poetry papers in her Eng 298 class was HARD. I just didn't see myself doing well on those papers. If you want a professor that provides reasonable work, take someone else
I've had her twice and can honestly say she's one of my favorite professors. If you're a major, TAKE HER. She has a very dry wit and really knows her stuff, you will learn a lot and the class goes by quickly. If you're looking for an easy A without doing any work, by all means do you and her both a favor and don't waste your time taking her class.
I hope I never have an English teacher like her ever again. She is EXTREMELY rude and grades very harshly. If you can help it, avoid taking her at all costs. Her expectations are simply unrealistic and you will not learn much from taking her class, except that it was an AWFUL choice.
She is rude and blunt but smart. Her expectations are high but if the class tells her they need more time she understands. I got an A but worked hard for it. Lots of research goes into papers. Attend workshops because you will learn exactly what not to do in your papers. She's specific about what she doesn't want in papers, not what she does want.
Lowest grade on a paper I have ever received, and I am far from a poor writer. Absolutely terrible when I asked for more clarity on what she wanted. Probably dropping the class.
Worst teacher I ever had. So unorganized, has no idea how to stick to her own syllabus and is always late to class (with a horrible excuse to back it up). Rude to students who do not know what she does. Considering it was a 200 level survey class she should not expect people to know everything about Brit Lit
Very condescending & intimidating. Makes students feel ignorant and inferrior. If you say an opinion and she does not like it she will completely shut you down and embarrass you. Expects you to be an expert for your presentation when she never taught you anything about it in the first place. Harsh grader even when you try your best on assignments
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Do not take her! I'm not even sure why she is a teacher because she hates all of her students. She is very rude and will embarrass you for no reason. She will call on you and then will not even listen to what you have to say. The class is very difficult, only a paper, a poetry recitation, and final.
Absolutely awful. She grades based on one paper, one poetry recital, and participation. She does not answer questions to clarify what she wants, talks down to her students, and is generally unhelpful and uninteresting as a professor. Doesn't provide updated grades throughout semester. Would strongly recommend avoiding.
You need to have thick skin to handle her class, but it's worth it. She doesn't correct you to humiliate you, like some of these reviews suggest. Whenever she corrected students in my class it was because they said stupid and incorrect things and tried to pass them off as fact. Do your research and ask her for clarification if you need it.
Not sure why everyone hates her so much. I was really nervous about taking her class after seeing all the negative feedback but I really like her. Attendance is mandatory. If you do the reading and you participate in class there will be no problems. This is college you have to do the work and you'll be fine.
she is a complete assh*le. she is unrealistic with her demands. if you're reading this comment after you registered for her class you have just made the worst decision of your ccsu attendance. I have had plenty of professors at this school and none are even close to how horrible she is. Geller is mentally unstable.
My instructor knew the subject/material. She conveyed material in an interesting way. She also answered all the students' questions clearly.
My instructor knew the subject/material. She conveyed material in an interesting way. She also answered all the students' questions clearly.I enjoyed the class and my fellow classmates.
Geller is a ruthless persons and is very unclear in what she wants in the classwork her grading is horrible and seems that she doesnt even care to teach at all but only to get paid. lack of effort and a sad semester for you if you have her
She's a very mono-tone professor so its very easy to drift off and not pay attention. Her work load is a lot but she does break the assignments up in pages. you will need your printing money for her class.
I took this professor bc it was the only class that fit in my schedule and I still wish I hadnt. I ignored the reviews, hoped for the best I SHOULDNT HAVE. I'm an english major and im saying run. the work wasnt even that bad, it was just that she loves publicly humiliating people. Abrasive, aggressive, offensive. seriously RUN.
Professor Geller is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. In my opinion there was a lot of reading, but I do not consider myself a reader. Grading was based on a mid term paper, a recitation, participation, and a final. I felt she was a tough but fair grader. I had never heard of 95% of the readings or authors, now I have.
Hated this class and the professor, she is awful she's mean she thinks she's the best writer known to man and I would preferably stay away from this class! Went for extra help and was a complete waste of my time I will never get back
She is highly unorganized, unclear, and will say to do one thing but then expect something else to have been done. She gives basically no graded assignments, so have fun with your mystery letter when it's all over. She's is intelligent and knowledgeable, but can be rude and condescending--mean, even, to some. She will make you fear to speak aloud.
Overall, I did not enjoy this class. I feel that the professor is extremely hard on students, she is not very open minded, she expects students to submit to her feeling towards the readings given. While her lectures were pretty straightforward and informative, her overall disposition is hard to relate to and feel comfortable enough to ask questions
On the last day of class, she asked all the students what we did for work. When I told her I owned a comic book shop, she threw open her mouth and guffawed! The whole class looked at me with a face that said, "It sucks being you." Now, I was no kid (not that that would have mattered). I was 43 and I've owned the store since 1989. It was so cruel!
she is degrading towards students. If you participate and you're wrong she'll shoot you down and its embarassing. You're only graded on 3 things all semester (presentation, participation and final) and we only got one grade back all semester for the presentation. I got a b+ on the presentation, thought I was doing ok then ended class with a C-....
Worst professor I've ever had. She doesn't recognize you in or out of class and doesn't try to (she uses name tags for the entire semester) and expects students to print 20 copies of 7+ page rough drafts. No help in the classroom unless you're her favorite. Assigns 3 essays total, one of which is handed in as the final. Uses MLA. AVOID HER!
For the love of God don't take her!! worst professor I ever had, all around mean person. its that bad
She does use name tags so that she doesn't forget your name (she does know who you are; in my class at least). She asks you to print a ridiculous amount,(peer editing where you need to have a copy of your essay for each person in class). She does make you a better writer and I feel so much more prepared to write essays for other classes now.
WORST CLASS EVER. You are only graded on three things the whole semester (presentation, participation, and final). You only get one grade back the whole semester at around midterms and then your final in december. I thought I was doing great in the class bc I got an A on the project but then failed the class. DONT TAKE!!!!
She is a decent professor that knows her stuff well and genuinely wants to teach you all of it; however she is monotone and goes about it in a very boring way. She only grades you on three essays and class participation. She will help you in the very few office ours she has if you show your willing to work for a grade and allows rewrites on essays.
Professor Geller is one of the most intellectual people I have come across. She is very insightful and you can tell she very much cares about her students. She does assign long papers, but gives you ample amount of time to complete each assignment. Love her!
All these negative reviews are probably from students who didn't give any effort. She makes it very clear what's required, knows what she is talking about, and if you aren't statisfied with your original paper, she makes herself available to help you and allows multiple revisions. Im sure it's discouraging to have so many students who don't care.
I do not understand how I got a D+. She is ridiculous. Doesn't respond to e-mails! Received my midterm grade of an A-, then when the final came (open notes) I thought I did well. So how I managed to get a D+ I will never understand. Absolutely ridiculous. STAY AWAY!!!
lectures have nothing to do with paper. wouldn't be worth going if she didn't take off points for missed classes. horrible vocal fry makes her long lectures so much worse. will sit in silence if class doesn't respond. i once asked her for more specific help and she managed to insult me while agreeing to help me like how. write to live bruh
1. You DO actually learn & it can be interesting. 2. She says she hates grading, and understands students who never written a paper, but continues to grade harshly and make brash assumptions if you're doing poorly. 3. She says come for help, but if you dare ask the same ? twice, she gets irritated. DON'T TAKE THIS IF YOU'RE NOT AN ENGLISH MAJOR
She's amazing. Incredibly accommodating and wants students to succeed. Last semester after the initial hand in of a major assignment, she made everyone do it overy because she did not want to give bad grades. How awesome is that? I love her. Participation is key in her class. Just try your best and you will prosper.
Professor Geller expects a lot of students, but it's proportional to the level class you're taking (she doesn't expect a survey course to be doing graduate level work). she honestly cares about the texts and if you understand it. Little lecture heavy, but that's only so you have background information that will help you with the reading.
Very unapproachable, as an english major I was surprised by the grade I received (she only gave us two grades all semester so you are most likely surprised in a good or bad way by the end of the semester). She makes you feel like you can't ask questions and isn't afraid to tell you how wrong you are about a text infant of the entire class.
Geller is passionate about what she does, and knows a lot about what she teaches. If you're actually in college to learn and not just to get a degree, you'll love her.
If I had to redue my schedule for this semester, I would have never chosen her. Good luck to people taking this as a requirement because she is the worst.
When I went to ask her for help, she was very condescending. I've also seen her put down other students when they tried their best to answer a question and got it wrong. Horrible professor and just don't take this class, okay? Don't torture yourself. It's not worth it.
Always feel uncomfortable speaking in class because she tells everyone they're wrong if they don't interpret the readings exactly as she does. She's unapproachable, takes weeks to respond to e-mails, never gives grading requirements, and gives no feedback (for the 3 grades). As an English major, my grade will be unrepresentative of my knowledge.
The vibe that is created in her classroom is not very conductive for education. Be prepared to feel belittled and to have your GPA drop. There are only 3 essays the entire semester and no other assignments. With only 3 essays and an almost non existent grading policy you have a recipe for a disaster of a course
Took a class with her last semester too and I'm still intimidated by her; however, she obviously knows what she's talking about, and even though she's tough you'll come out knowing a lot and she'll definitely be an asset in the future. Visit her in her office--she's accessible and this will help her to recognize you which will help you later on.
Passionate about English. Humorously sarcastic & somewhat relatable. Only 3, 6-7 page papers. Says to do research by physical book, no internet (we all used the internet anyway). Gives reassuring feedback when you read your drafts out loud. Gives no rubrics about what each paper should be about. Don't do much in class except read student works.
I've taken this Professor twice. She is extremely condescending and rude. She will make it a point to embarrass students in class. Very knowledgeable but I can't respect someone who doesn't respect me or her students; intelligent or not.
horrible professor. extremely rude and embarrasses students in class. grades unreasonably and will not accept work if it is not up to her standards. always says how the course was hard when she was in college but expects the students to know everything already. DO NOT take her. worse professor at ccsu.
She is an amazing professor. I was never good at English in high school. I went to her class and when I first saw her I thought i would hate her but we only have 3 papers to do and you get to pick what you write about. She is always available for office hours and if you go to her she will really help you and you will get an A in the class.
I read comments on this website and I regret not listening. I have never been graded so unfairly with no explanation. Went out of her way to embarrass and interrupt students. Canceled class without notice. Spent half of the classes talking about her life or at Starbucks. Try your best to talk in class, even when she makes you cry several times :)
I went to class everyday, and did all the assignments. However I did not get the grade I needed to pass this class even though I fulfilled the requirements that she wrote for our essay. Without getting too specific, I would not take this professor ever again, and she was rude to me.
Worst Professor I ever had. If middle English is not something you are interested in do not take this class. Her lectures are boring and she talks about what she believes is true. If you disagree with what she is saying you are wrong. Unclear about grading and what she expects. Basically left to try your best and hope for the best. Terrible.
Nice, quirky woman. Knows too much about English. Very tough grader. No exams, just papers. Will ask the class questions no one knows the answers to, sits in silence until she gives up and tells you. Calls out people to answer questions, makes you feel embarrassed when you don't know the answer. Talks a lot. But, again, nice woman.
There are times where she will randomly ask questions that no one knows the answer to. She will then randomly select someone in class to answer which makes things even worse for that person as she will embarrass them without care. She will also kick you out of class if you show the slightest hint of being sick which counts as an unexcused absence.
Openly embarrassed students during class (Identified & mocked students who struggled w/ run on sentences). Repeatedly claimed she was the best English professor in CT. LOL. Disturbing enough, this "professor" shoved me in the hall in an attempt to rush ahead of me. So much for decency, professionalism & basic manners. Terrible professor & person.
She first comes off as a very sarcastic woman. She is best known for her constructive criticism that is seen by most as rude, BUT she does this because she wants others to see her professional point of view in writing. She is a very polite woman, considering you approach her with great manners. Although most may not like her, I'd take her again.
Honestly, I feel as if she can be nice as a person, but as a professor, she honestly sucks. She always shows up to class late and likes to make fun of her students. Shes also really bad at giving out specific information for assignments. In my opinion, I feel as if shes only doing this for the money and to look good on her resume.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. She is late to EVERY class, gives no instruction on what she wants in her papers, and then proceeds to get mad when nobody knows what they're supposed to be doing. She seems to find joy in embarrassing her students. I have never felt more uncomfortable and belittled in a classroom before in my life.
On a spring semester, the first grade was not issued until APRIL 22ND. There are no rubrics, only verbal guidelines. When a grade is issued, there is nothing but a grade, no feedback, no anything to tell you why you got a particular grade. When I went to office hours, she was asleep and had to be woken when I knocked.....
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She was always at least 10 minutes late to class. She loved to call out and embarrass students. Super disorganized with grading and class time. She only provided a week to do the final essay (during finals week! so stressful!) I did well on the first two essay but I got a D in the class without explanation!
honestly, she really isn't as awful as people make her out to be. she has a very specific sense of humor which some people find off-putting, but I found actually very relatable. she talks a lot, but she also will do yoga before classes sometimes to help students loosen up, and she will sometimes buy starbucks for the whole class if she likes you!
Professor Geller was honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is extremely unapproachable and rude. She enjoys calling on and embarrassing students. I felt very uncomfortable and nervous in this class. Avoid if possible!
Never answers emails, always late to class, and doesnt give instruction on assignments. WORST teacher Ive ever had. Avoid at all costs
Terrible
Terrible would not recommend. Rude to students. Interrupted every student talking during presentations. Disorganized. Made up assignments randomly as the class course went on and constantly changed due dates.
Terrible at answering questions, makes students feel dumb when they don't understand something and embarrasses them in front of the class. The assignments given are not actually the assignments she wants you to do and often have secret meanings behind her questions that are difficult to grasp. Very rude and not understanding of students' problems.
She does not respond to e-mails. Hard to get help from her. When I came to her office, I did not get the right help. It seemed she did not want to help at all. She is a little bit disrespectful. She did not grade me honestly.
Late to class. Doesn't plan ahead so the class had to constantly ask when assignments are due. Required a group project designed for one person to do all the work to lift everyone else's grade up. All the readings are boring. Her thoughts are the only right thoughts. But she would offer to buy people coffee which was nice. Do not recommend.
This professor is rarely on topic. We are supposed to read stories that she never actually talks about. We hear more about her personal life than anything else. She is impossible to reach over email and doesn't know the dates of any assignments. The class is based on only two exams only. AVOID at all costs!!
The professor is very intelligent with the material she teachers, she definitely knows TOO much and will make sure you know that. She is not helpful in anyway when trying to understand the stories she assigns and your grade will be based on the midterm exam and the final so if you fail it is over with. Try to stay away from this professor.
Mandatory attendance policy; if you miss more than 7 classes it is an automatic failure. Your grade is made up of the midterm and final exam. Be as elaborate as possible on both exams to prove you know what you're talking about, that is how I got an A- on both exams. It's an easy A if you're good at English in general, but the professor is annoying
Professor Geller is an individual disconnected from reality. She will not learn your name even if your class has less than 10 people. She will pick a favorite and in turn make everyone else feel like black sheep. She will derail class time going on random tangents about current/past events or ridiculous hypotheticals. She will not explain anything.
First class of the semester she was 15 mins late and just rambled about random stuff the whole time leaving us with no clear guidelines of the course. Second class, no show. No email or anything just didn't show up so everyone left. 3rd class 30 mins late. I dropped this course after that because I wasn't going to waste my time.
Avoid this class at all cost. Does not respect her students and often criticize them for not understanding. Never post assignments on bb and expect her students to understand her complicated instruction. Skipped the first two class of the semester without noticing. Often falls asleep in her own class and also do yoga while taking about her life.
Do not take her class. Talks over her students while the are answering something or asking a question. Rambles & goes on super long tangents all the time. Graded on participation, midterm essay and final. Doesn't check her email so don't even bother emailing. Often unorganized & will never remember you or your work. Annoying & frustrating class.
She made it very difficult to get help in her class, her office hours were often over the phone making it difficult to go over essays. There were only three grades throughout the semester making it difficult to improve grade. She never answered her emails. Very spacey. Late to every lecture. Rambles too much. Often off topic.
In office hours, Prof. Geller is an insightful and knowledgeable academic. She gives fantastic feedback, so take advantage of it. During class, she frequently arrived late and was prone to changing the assignments at the last minute. I wish I could give her a higher score as I learned so much from her, but the class was disorganised.
I have never met such a unhinged professor in my life. Not only were her lectures consistently off topic, she was so aggressive and rude towards students I could not believe it. She had a habit of making everyone uncomfortable. She singled out/embarrassed students during class for raising their hand, coughing, emailing her, not having a pen, etc.
Not helpful at all don't expect any replies to any of your emails she wont help. And you can always count on her to be late and thats about it
DO NOT take her class. She singles out students, and mocks/openly embarrasses students for coughing, not agreeing w/ her opinions, and standing up for themselves. It got so bad people were dropping the course a month before finals. Not because of the grade but her as an educator. She rambles pointlessly and doesn't care about your time.
She is a rambler. She doesn't stay on topics and will keep going if she doesn't stop herself. She'll call students out for not having a name plaque or texting. I was already iffy about her, I dropped it within a few weeks. Doesn't explain the stories in the book well. Nor does she with assignments. Would also show up late and go over class time.
Always either showed up late or not at all without even sending out an email. Very rude to her students and tried to act like she cared about our opinions but would shut us down every time we answered a question or interrupt us. She won't bother learning your name and would always just call us "Plaque-less" if we didn't have a name plaque out.
Narcissistic rude professor. All she grades is a SINGLE paper and attendance. Thats it. Like, you teach an English class, and not even a high level one. what's with the ego and rudeness? she randomly decides to come in late or not at all with no warning yet has a strict attendance policy. overcomplicates things to make herself feel smart
DO NOT take this professor. She has a strict attendance policy but then proceeds to show up 10 minutes late and sits there. She will openly mock you if you ask a question and has called students dumb or simple minded. She only grades you on a midterm and final. Has to be the worst professor at this school
Do NOT take this class. This professor is extremely rude. She thinks that she is smarter and better than her students and she will let you know that she thinks that way. She does not respond to emails, she is never on time, and she is extremely rude to students. She also rarely has shoes on in class and will have her BARE FEET out while lecturing.
For someone that's strict with attendance, she missed or was significantly late MANY times. It was ridiculous. Then will email minutes before class starts. It was extremely frustrating for someone that was commuting. All announcements are by email and blackboard is used rarely. Class is confusing and boring. If she doesn't like you, you will fail.
The class was disorganized, with the professor frequently arriving late and changing assignments at the last minute. However, during office hours, she provided insightful feedback. To do well, use resources like Unstuck ai alongside the textbook and stay engaged in class.
This teacher has the biggest ego I have ever seen. She is incredibly disrespectful to almost every student. For the love of god don't take a class with this teacher. No amount of credits will make it worth it
This is probably the worst professor I have ever had. She's been on time to class once, for our midterm. The midterm had unrealistic expectations for the time it was supposed to be finished and most of the class stayed a good hour into the next class to complete it. Has forgotten about our group project and doesn't answer emails. Don't take her.
DO NOT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TAKE THIS CLASS, PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU NOT TO DO IT!!! You might think "oh English isn't that hard, I've got this in the bag" THIS PROFESSOR TAKES THAT THOUGHT AND PUMMELS IT INTO THE GROUND!! She has no idea how to teach, makes bizarre comments about specific students, and is the worst professor ever.
She's a tough grader and you're only graded on a presentation, midterm that's super hard, and a final essay. This may seem good in the beginning of the year…. Till you're at your last period of the year and youre out of luck. If you build a connection with her it's ok, but really don't take this class
Bruh just grade my final already, didn't think putting in a couple numbers could take someone so long. Goofy professor and is freaky
Really liked her as a person, but is not great as a professor. She's very passionate about her work which is admirable, but she is extremely disorganized, changes things up last minute, and is prone to going on tangents when it comes to her discussions about the readings and/or the few assignments we were graded on. Attendance wasn't counted.
I have never felt so uncomfortable in a classroom. She was extremely condescending toward myself and my peers to the point I felt uncomfortable to speak. She comes off as elitist and unwilling to compromise preexisting beliefs. She often got off topic and was very unclear regarding what she actually wanted us doing or reading.
She really cares about what she is doing and if you treat her kindly she will do the same.
First time ever leaving a review before a class is over, but I am BLOWN AWAY. If you can get another professor PLEASE DO. She has been very unprofessional, gives poor feedback, and grades the class on three very unclear assignments. We have JUST gotten the instructions for a presentation after several students already went and had to redo.
DO NOT have her as a professor!! She made me do my presentation twice and I got a C- on it. She is incredibly unreliable with emails, and expects you to read her mind when it comes to instructions. She is the WORST professor I have ever had and made me cry multiple tims after class. If I could rate her a zero I would.
Worst class I've had with her by far. She's passionate about 18th century literature but with that comes impatience and superiority if you don't interpret the material to her liking. Incompetent when it comes to assignments and grading. She will take the simplest tasks and make them needlessly complicated and stressful. Overall? Run while you can.
Extremely inflexible with her interpretation of the texts; she WILL lower your grade if your analysis does not fit into her existing opinions. Regularly wastes 30+ mins of class time talking about things unrelated to class. Very unclear assignments. I feel I was favored in grading as opposed to classmates w work of the same quality bc she liked me.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She claims she "can't do technology" so you have no clue what your grade is. Often times she won't even show up to office hours but won't let us know till the day after. She is rude in her emails and class. She WILL humiliate you. I asked for an idea of what my current grade is and the response I got was a "No" via email.
Please do not do this to yourself. Had me redo 2 papers bc she didnt like them. Only allowed for us to talk in present tense during presentation and lowered grade if not. Doesnt email, doesnt post grades, sometimes doesnt show up. Still talks about me to her classes and it makes me uncomfortable.
Extremely disrespectful. Did not go by syllabus, spoke about unrelated topics regularly for long stretches of time, and made offhand comments about past students as well as groups of people. No clear grading system. Never returned graded papers. Would not communicate grades beyond a single assignment even when asked. Please run while you still can.
Her instructions were unclear and she was difficult to reach outside of class. Got annoyed when we asked for clarification and would always compare us to her other section telling us how much more she liked us than them. She brought up past students by name twice and shared information about their personal lives. Made LOTS of racist comments.
Extremely inappropriate remarks in class. Other Professors know; she does not seem well respected within her department. Does not follow syllabus, rarely on time to class. Very condescending and rude. Does not provide clear directions for assignments. Does not return grades, very unclear or no feedback. Inaccessible outside of class. Run.
Probably the most ADHD professor I've ever taken. Sometimes she will go on 20 minute ramble sessions about something that doesn't even remotely pertain to what we're reading. She was late for every single class, and assigned very little to do outside of the readings. She's wacky, funny, and engaging, but she takes a lot of time to get used to.
The professor is extremely unprofessional, If you ask any form of question you will get ridiculed and made an example for the class on what not to do. You get 4 whole assignment's so you better be on your A game when writing. But don't worry no matter what you do, if she doenst like what you wrote, it is a D+. Professor used inappropriate language
DON'T DO IT. She is the worst professor on this campus. I could go on for days. She tanked my perfect GPA. She comes late to class because she was getting coffee. She lectures with no shoes on. She forgot to order the textbooks. She makes you get 3 textbooks. She doesn't know how to put anything in bb or answer emails but has a PHD. DROP NOW PLEASE
I usually don't go off RMP ratings since sometimes I'd have really good professors with bad ratings. This is different. Don't take her. Doesn't remember names. Doesn't use email. I didn't know my grade till this morning. This was my lowest grade this semester. I was taking anatomy || this semester as well and did better!
Stay far far away from this professor if you can. She is by far THE worst professor I've ever had at Central. You are graded by 3 blue books for the entire class. Lectures ramble on and have little to do with the content. She does not respond to emails or put any grades up. Feels she is too big to even learn the names of her students.
