Dr. Horger is an all around awesome guy. He truly loves chemistry and is very knowledgeable in his field. He's a good guy but the way he teaches is very boring and he expects you to know everything right away. He doesn't do a good job teaching, only knows how to work through practice problems that aren't even on the test. The tests are very hard and the best bet is using the practice exams to study. I wouldn't even recommend this guy to my worst enemy. He expects you to read every single page in the textbook so you already know the material by the time you get to class, don't expect this guy to actually teach you anything. Homework is long and only worth 5%. The biweekly quizzes are worth 80% don't waste your time with his class, take Koohang!

This is simply a difficult class! He's a great professor but you have to put in the work, know your stuff, and you CANNOT fall behind. Read the textbook! He gives a ton of practice problems from there and shares previous quizzes (no keys). Your grade is 65% 8 quizzes (lowest gets dropped), 25% cumulative final & 10% homework/in class assignments.

I had Dr. Horger for CHEM 2131 and I did not like him but in CHEM 2132 I felt more engaged and his lectures were much clearer and structured. He does not do exams, only a quiz every other week. Pay attention in class and do the homework assigned and you will do fine in his class. He is a harder professor however it prepares you for the ACS final.
