The hardest class that I have taken in 4 years of college!
She gives the hardest tests ever, they make no sense
great teacher had her my freshman year and got an A
Very enjoyable, gave much opportunity for learning... great...
good class for freshmen to take
Good Lecturer, not very understanding or helpful
She is a great person and teacher.

Great teacher. Liked to play up tests as if they were going to be hard...but don't be fooled. Come to class and write your own notes (don't use the internet notes she provides) and you'll be guarenteed an A
Accessible, knowledgable, courteous, respectful. Only complaint is that some exam material blindsides you.
Shes fun in class, tests=hard as hell, otherwise she makes a boring subject fun

horrible! not helpful at all. discriminates between races. avoid her if you can!!
I failed this class big time, but she did work with me when I missed the final. Amazingly, I passed her husband's class with flying colors.
would not recommend her.
Easy class, aced it without studying once.
Very helpful and has a great knowledge of the material. Dont miss class. If you dont study you wont pass. Always willing to help.
She makes a boring subject fun. I think if i had any other professor it would be EXTREMELY boring! She's helpful and interested in her students. You do need to study though! Take her!
Why to hyper for me, especially at 9 in the morning. She loves what she does. Gives a lot of extra credit. I gotta C and still don't know anything about Econ. Take her, you'll do fine. She doesn't want to fail you.
She is an alright teacher. A little on the hard side, but she makes it fun. Her tests are really really hard. She is not the first person I would recommend taking, but probably not the last either
She is a very patient professor that does a nice job of making sure that everyone understands the material. If you're not prepared for her tests it's your own fault.
Very good teacher, easy to understand, uses real life examples. Will help you with anything as long as u ask....so ask
Get teacher. Tests are hard but she will do anything to help you understand. she will set up a meeting for those having trouble before almost every test. I would take her again. She makes a hard subject understandable.
Im a fan of her system of notes, I must say. I got a C on my first test and ended the class with an A, so there is no reason to sweat it. Take this class for sure.
all she does is lecture
She seems biased towards males. In particular to me she always acts like I am dumb when I have a B plus. I would never take her again if I had to.
I like how she does her notes and her lectures are pretty clear and understandable. I had no idea what I was doing when I started out in there and ended up with an A in the class. She stresses buying the book in the beginning, but I wish I hadn't. I only opened it about 4 times.
I would not wish this class on anyone
Very nice, but man, boring as hell. The tests were hard too, especially seeing as though she does nothing but lecture, which puts one to sleep easily.
great teacher, difficult class. DO NOT miss class or you'll be screwed for the entire semester!! She will do all she can to help you understand the material, but the tests are worded tricky even if you have a complete grasp of what's on them.
She's one tufff cookie
I really like her, yeah her classes are tough but come on, we're in college. She really wants you to do well and you end up not wanting to disappoint her. The tests are killer, but she's a very nice, incredibly intelligent woman. If you want to know Econ, take her.
this is the best teacher ive ever had she is really helpful and really nice and easy to get along with the class is hard but you wont really notice till you get your grade back so be sure to study and she is willing to help you at anytime so dont be shy, although its hard i recommend taking her you wont regret it
Go to class - she often gives out worksheets that you need to complete in class. She's really picky - if you get the worksheet done half-way through class, she finds things wrong with it to make you stay until the end of class.
Oh Lord...
Come to class every day. That will help your grade out a lot. She is a very helpful professor. Do the in class assignments, they will help your grade so much. Try to win the games, that one point does help on the test! It saved me twice. Follow that advice and you should at least walk out with an A or B. She is a very intelligent person.
Good teacher, a lil' hard but very good!
This teacher is very helpful and really wants people to do well. You HAVE to go to class but it's not like you're wasting my time.. good teacher
Shes a really nice lady and really wants you to learn. Go to clas or you will be screwed, do not take the tests lightly or they will kick knock you over.
don't buy the book for this class..it is really hard you will work or your grade! it is the hardest class i have had in my college career!
Her class is hard to get an A and she is strict but if you want to learn you will study a lot.Afer each class she will give you the assignments, before each exam she give you last year's exam but don't give you answers. She always ask you to interpret and graph the answer,Make sure that you do right on every word or you will lose a lot of points!!!
Tough class, but I learned a ton!
I have never worked so hard in my life! I now have some understanding of what economists do.
Great prof, but the work is extremely hard, DO NOT MISS CLASS or you will be lost. The test are way different from the worksheets
Dr. Agesa is a very nice woman, but a difficult and hard to understand instructor. I understand that Economics is a hard course, but this was just plain unbearable. The class began with 50 and 28 are left, most of those remaining are wishing they would have dropped. Stay clear of both Agesa's!
Dr. Agesa is a great teacher. The material takes some getting used to but she is willing to help with whatever questions you have. She wants you to understand. She won't let you slack at all, but she's fair. And you'll definitely learn in her class, but you HAVE to do the work!
Extremely helpful and understanding. She wants all of her students to fully comprehend the material given and will help each individual until you understand it. Relates topics in class to college students lives. She is funny too. Take her!
I got an A in the class and love Ecn, but dislike Dr. Agesa. She's enthusiastic and keeps you awake, which is good, but that's about it. The class is not as hard as she wants to present it. I found it easy. I don't really quite understand this class being labeled "the hardest" of the Ecn sequence.
Exams are super hard, you think that you are ready by the questions are completely different then what you practice in class. You have to dedicate a lot of time to this class!!
This class is brutal. you have to do your studying, adn go to class on a regular basis, she can only provide so much help. And print off her notes she post online before they will help you understand the subject, better than the textbook
Finance is tough but she is a good teacher.
As far as overall teaching quality, she's the best professor at Marshall I've ever had. She goes over practice tests with the class and encourages questions. She is very pleasant and enthusiastic. To these people that complain that you have to ACTUALLY do homework and show up for class...Duh! It's called college, not kindergarten!
Worst Teacher I've ever had at Marshall, she's not caring
This is one hard class! Dr. Agesa is a very good professor, but she teaches a tough subject. She makes her tests harder than the study guides in order to prepare you for upper level finance courses. I stayed up all night studying b4 a test and got a "C" on it. Take Agesa if you are going on into higher finance, otherwise, take Denning or other.
Dr. Agesa is one of the best professors at Marshall. The class is hard, but she knows what she is talking about. If you aren't going into higher Finance, I recommend Denning. However, if you are a Finance (I am) or an Econ major, take Jackie, she more than prepares you for what's ahead.
I took Dr.Agesa for Principles of Finance and now Insurance. She is the type of professor that will bend over backwards for her students to help them understand finance. Sure, her tests are hard (not in her insurance class), but she wants you to learn something useful to carry on in your finance careers. She is a very smart woman. Enroll in one.
I enjoyed every moment in this class. Prof Agesa is a wonderful teacher. She makes sure that everyone in the class understands the material by providing helpful examples to each concept taught. I would suggest that you read the textbook because it provides great sample questions for the exam.
I have no interest in finance, but Professa Agesa was one of the best teachers I've had at Marshall. The energy and enthusiasm she brings is amazing. I had dropped finance twice prior to taking Dr. Agesa and don't think I would ever had passed without her help.
She was very difficult and did not do a single problem on the board throughout the whole semester. If everyone in the class had the same question, she would go around individually and help every single person while the rest of us just sat there. I am a visual learner so I learned nothing from her in class. I basically had to teach myself finance.
She's a very nice person, but her method of teaching isn't what most of us would prefer. She gives homework after each chapter. And when class has questions, she comes to each individually. Takes a lot of time. Rarely writes anything on the board. Gives a few extra credit opportunities.
She is a good professor but her teaching methods are not that great. She reads straight from the powerpoint/notes that she gives you access to on Blackboard. Definitely need to show up and do the homework that she assigns unless you're just super gifted at finance. I like her as a person but I would not take her again if I did not have to.
Dr. Agesa is enthusiastic, passionate, and hilarious. Will provide the resources for EARNING success. Class is spent lecturing and working on HW in groups. I usually hate group work but it fits nicely here. FIN is tough, so do all the problems (HW + practice exam) multiple times, review the lectures, and you will succeed. Brush up on your algebra!
As smart as she is, is not good at teaching. She doesn't explain things well for people who don't have a mathematical mind. She has her students sit in groups to do the problems in the textbooks together in class and rarely teaches. Her tests are atrocious and if you get one thing wrong, you get them all wrong. Most of her students got a D.
Dr. Agesa is a wonderful and enthusiastic professor who is genuinely interested in her students learning! I highly recommend printing her notes to take good notes and identify what is most important. Exams 1 and 3 online, 2 and 4 in-class. Exams can be tough, so always pay attention, do each chapter HW and practice questions, and study hard!
Though Dr. Agesa is very sweet and kind, shes not a good teacher - especially virtual. She doesnt explain problems well. Tons of homework & 3 exams, which is to be expected but she makes exams so point heavy, homework wont help you. The final was 232 points, 8 points a question which gives you little room for error. In my opinion, it wasnt fair
I couldn't wait any longer through the semester to write this; it's been that awful. The class turned virtual due to COVID, but she did no lectures just posted presentations on blackboard and fled off into the sunset. Every exam required Respondus Lockdown browser and webcam. She cared more about cheating than teaching her students, and it shows.
I loved this class! Dr. Agesa is incredible and was always willing to help with any problems we had. She genuinely cares about her students and helping us learn. I also thought it was super helpful that we could go back and look at the videos if necessary.
Very technical, one of the hardest professors Ive had at Marshall.
Did not enjoy this class. The lectures are nothing like the tests, and when we review for the tests, she assumes we already know it all so she skips a lot of the problems. I tried to reach out to her for help, but I was not given it. I would avoid this professor at all costs.
Course was taken during Summer II, but I believe it would be similar to Fall/Spring online courses. She utilizes Respondus, you must watch 80% of the lectures for 20% of your grade, there are Connect Smartbook assignments for each chapter, and 10 Connect problems for each chapter as well. Exams are much more difficult than the homework. MUST study.
Professor Agesa is a wonderful person. She's hilarious and so kind. However, I felt that the class was extremely difficult and i've never done this bad in a class before. The home-works are easy and she will help you if you struggle, but the exams are so hard and nothing like the home work.
The class itself is laid out nicely, however the exams will matter the most. It does not matter if you get 100 on each assignment given (which is about 24), if you do bad on the exams you will drop several letter grades. If you have to take it, make sure to make plenty of notes on the formulas you use in each chapter.
If you are reading this, it's probably bc you're in LCOB and have to take 323. It is going to be a hard class no matter what, but if you have to take it, Jackie is a good professor and wants you to succeed. ASK QUESTIONS!!! She will answer them. Speak up a lot, say if you don't know what's going on. Try hard on the early stuff, it only gets harder.
I recommend taking Jacqueline for FIN323, yes it's a difficult course, but if you show up to lecture and ask questions she would be more than happy to help you. She cares about her students and their financial knowledge. The course is pretty much all on McGraw Hill so you're able to use that for additional study.
I take her class in-person, but the exam is online, she is friendly Her lecture is amazing, she will help you understand about calculation of Finance Exam is hard, you should read the lecture and do homework, that will help you easy to follow Homework is so heavy because there are more questions than it shows on the board. i recommend Dr. Agesa
I loved this class! Agesa teaches in a way that keeps your attention, and she is always more than willing to help. Homework was easy because she allows you to check them before turning them in. Tests are tricky and are proctored. Pick wisely for your group project partners!
As a finance major, I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Agesa's class. She is extremely knowledgeable. However, to do well you MUST study. Exams are online and proctored, summing to 400 of 650 points. 40pts of extra credit are possible in the form of exam questions. My advice for studying: repeat chapter homework and practice exams. Exams are math-based.
Dr. Agesa is an amazing professor! She explains concepts well and will do her very best to help you if it's clear that you care. If you care she cares. Attendance isn't mandatory but I wouldn't skip because it's easy to get behind. Also study study study for the exams!
what she teaches in class does not relate to her exams at all! Exams worth about 75% of grade and are on mcgraw hill with shutdown browser. Make sure you study the mcgraw hill assignments and not her notes or review practice
You could get 100% on all assignments, study daily, be in tutoring, and still not understand concepts enough to pass the exams. Failing exams means you fail the course. She did not answer emails promptly, and all emails were responded to with a disinterested tone. Any advice she gave was to "study harder." She never clarified challenging concepts.
With homework, practice exams and in the book nothing like you learned from them is on the exams. She doesn't respond to emails asking question, tells you to "study harder" or "in the homework". Nothing learned in this class is related to the exams she gives. I hope I get a D to pass, but its not looking good.
This class was alright, if you truly understand FIN. The exams are nothing like the homework. The homework is all on McgrawHill and does not boost your grade.
This class was mainly lectures on notes Dr. Agesa had typed out. Don't expect to get anything graded until it's the deadline for grades unless it's an exam (exams are automatically graded). Overall not a very informative class.
