the students in the online class might have been idiots, but the intructor was great!
This online class was extremely easy to get an A in. The prof participated actively in the message board and was really helpful!
Would recommend over actual classes. Online is so much easier; lots of points to get with online quizzes, and assignments. Exams are a tad difficult, but follow the study guide and youll be fine. Buell is very helpful, she'll answer any/all questions!!
This lady is a terrible teacher. No wonder why they stuck her with an online class. The class was really easy thanks to quizzes that could be taken as many times as you wanted to recieve full credit.
I got an A with barely any effort. Take this class over the regular class! Easy A.
Easy and enjoyable. OSU needs to offer more online classes, especially GEC'S! Was very helpful in discussion on WebCT, and exams weren't terribly difficult. Keep up with the work throughout the quarter and it's an easy A!
One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. It does have busy work though so make sure you do it all by the due date. If you do all the work and study a little bit for the exams you will get an A. Skip the orientation, it's pointless and you can see all the info from it online. Also don't bother buying the book.
there is no reason anyone shouldn't take this class over the in class version. online is so easy, clear and you dont' have to sit through lectures that you would just sleep in. she is very helpful and i think she has made it idiot proof. exams are a lil hard but you have so many points for other stuff.
This class was interesting and easy. All you have to do is stay on top of things. There is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. I recommend it!!! The teacher is helpful and answers your questions promptly.
EASY A! EVERY SINGLE PERSON GETS AN A. TAKE THE ONLINE VERSION NOT THE ACTUAL CLASS. Take every quiz and study EXACTLY by the study guide for exams nothing is on it that is not on the study guide. You will get an A.
not very interested in students. won't meet with them when they need help. I think shes just selfish and lazy!
I've have applied practically no effort to this course and I'm doing great. You can literally wait until the last minute to do everything and not suffer for it. Very happy with the way it worked out.
easy is you keep on top of the material, material itself isn't very complicated and is easy, ta's answer all of your questions in a very timely manner

easy class, mean teacher. Buell doesn't care at all about students. She is lazy. TA's do basically everything, but the actual teacher won't do anything but deny your requests for help. I recommend the online version of the class cause it is VERY easy, but stay on top of material and STUDY for exams and do EVERY quiz-- it'll save you in the long run
Easy, do not take another GEC for your science credit. The online assignments are the easiest things in the world. Midterm and Final were pretty easy if you study but there are so many other points it doesnt matter how well you do. If you can't get at least an A-, you either didnt try or you are stupid and should enroll at OU.
Material is easy enough to learn and there are plenty of easy points in the class. Quizzes are poorly worded and designed to trick you rather than test your knowledge, however. Instructor also tests on obscure details and once in a while there is a question that is not answered in the provided material.
She is a little bit rude and tries to trick you on exams. The class is still relatively easy if you take it online because you can take the quizzes an unlimited amount of times.
horrible horrible teacher. i hated this course. i am a 3.5 gpa student, i am on the deans list and i got a 70% on her exam. her exams are hard and she tries to trick you. when the class average for an exam is 74% (C) maybe is time to stop being so conceided and realize maybe you dont know how to teach, instead of blaming the students.
Buell is bitter and not helpful. Online workload is heavy but not too tough.

bad teacher. insults students and offers no help. the class isnt really that hard but theres ALOT of reading because its online. i would not say its an easy A and its not hard to fail, but if you try anyone can pull off a B.
Professor clearly explained the topics. Would not recommend online course unless have ability to studey individually. Online require a great deal of time to keep up with the topics. However, I thought the notes were well organized and professor response to questions was excellent
humntr210d was an online class that was very easy, it's hard to get ahold of the professor, she doesnt email back very quickly, but stay with the material take the quizzes, and you'll do fine. Don't bother buying the book, got an A w/o it.
The class was easy. You'll get a good grade if you do the work. But if you really want to learn and grasp the material, this isn't the class for you. If you just want an easy A, take it.
Class was very very easy, she responds within a day to any posts you put on the discussion board. Online quizzes are a breeze, make sure you do them all to get an extra 5pts towards your grade. When it comes to final grades, she gets pretty mean. Don't expect any help from her past what is stated on the syllabus because she won't bother with it!
Very easy class, online workload is a bit heavy but it's easy to navigate through. Her exams were a little difficult though.
for being an online class, the workload every week was considerably heavy, but Dr. Buell is always willing to help. She usually answered questions posted on the message boards the same day, and really is interested in making sure everyone understands. Tests were pretty hard, but she's recommended =)
She is straight-forward about her expectations, and the class is fairly easy. The exams are tough even if you study, but the extra points from quizzes should cover you as long as you do them all and complete all assignments on time. I don't think I retained very much of the material I learned.
Worst professor ever! Does not seem to understand the meaning of "online course" Too much material, not helpful, ridiculous tests.She makes you take tests in person and the work is way too in depth for a 200 level course.Don't go to her with problems, she won't help you. Takes forever to post grades. Generally unpleasant. Worst class in 4 years
She worries too much about cheating, that the class becomes inconvenient for all. She takes her frustration on the large class size out on students. She rescheduled the midterm for the Superbowl... but it took alot of convincing for her to reschedule due to a Level 2 Snow Emergency. I've lost interest in Human Nutrition due to association with her.
Terrible prof. Doesn't take feedback (even good feedback) very well. Only goal is to trick you on exams... not test your knowledge of the material. Don't take her class (online or otherwise). It's ridiculous. Take Bio 102 instead.
Overall much easier than I had expected. You don't really need to do the readings since you can take the quizzes as many times as you want. Just make a study guide for the exam out of the study guide she gives you and you'll be just fine.
AHH WATCH OUT BIG BROTHER IF YOU ARE NOT TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED. A LOT OF ATTITUDE EVEN IF NON DISTANCE COURSE. YOU'LL LEARN A LOT ABOUT HER 2 CHILDREN. Pretty easy online course. The quizzes you can take as many times to get a perfect score. Don't buy the book. Study a lot for the exams though. This is how she makes the class not look like a joke. She gets very specific!! Also you have to be organized otherwise you can forget an assignment or 2 which can kill your grade. Easy 5 credit hour A or A-
This class was harder than I expected but still pretty easy. Just do all of the KC's and study hard for the exams and you will at least get a B.
interesting class, got a lot of useful info out of it. she's nice but isn't much help when you ask her questions thru email. you'll write a long email explaining yourself and get a two word non-helpful response. her notes are good, but she uses a lot of abbreviations and if you don't write down things she says, some of the notes make no sense.
The only thing difficult about this class are the exams. You don't really need to read the book to take the quizzes because you can take them as many times as you want. We had our exams on Sundays, in person. (which I thought was weird). She doesn't communicate a lot with the students, but she's quick at answering emails. Projects aren't difficult.
Professor Buell was very clear on requirements for assignments and made the assignments easy as long as you got the concept. The quizzes were a breeze because you could take them as many times as you needed them to and 75% of the info on the exam is copied exactly from the quizzes. Good info too!

dr. buell's class was not easy by any means. the tests were hard and the material, though presented very nicely, was dry to read and therefore hard to remember.
She is not helpful at all. Not approachable. She does know what she is talking about and gives good lectures, but if you try to ask her a question she will make you feel stupid and tell you to "go drink a cup of coffee and rethink your question."

Exam questions straight from study guide which she releases ONLY upon request.She skipped orientation and left her TA's clueless about her whereabouts,yet she makes no allowances for student needs Says the class is an easy A for Pharmacy students.Others use cheating rings.Email answers are snotty.Txtbk unnecessary if you get the study guide.
Insults students .Expects accuracy, but lecture notes contain grammatical errors,due dates are for previous quarter,animations don't open.Insists on current txtbk edition, but doesn't use the book.sidesteps answering questions which makes you feel like she didn't answer at all.Tests are color-coded to PREVEVT cheating which she says everyone does.
She missed the first class and her TA's did not know where she was. Her lecture notes were hard to understand. Tests were hard. Overall, I would not take this class again.
Class is less than low priority to instructor. She missed first class and didn't let her TA's know.They stood around talking to each other like they did during exams.Her lecture notes are cut and paste from wherever .Only 5 possible extra credit points because she doesn't like "point-beggars at the end of the quarter."Use your tuition money better
This teacher has an off campus job and it was hard if not impossible to ask to meet for help with the computer. the metabolism animation was being tested by Dr. Buell and her collegues, but it wouldn't open for the pyruvate section.I needed help but spent 6 hrs trying without help.If you aren't familiar with computer glitches, don't take this class
You get what YOU put into this class and nothing more! TXTBK unneccessary.Software too slow. Projects have pastdue dates which are confusing. Teacher overstresses possible cheating rings.She also insults students' abilities.very cold individual to try to communicate with online and especially in person.Off campus job intereferes with on campus job.
Cannot recommend this teacher at all! Expects you to buy the most current edition of the textbook, but can't tell you where in the new book to look for answers to study guide questions.She's not available for office hours because of an off campus job,but she looms over your shoulder during midterm and final to make sure you don't cheat.
This is not an easy A like everybody says. Lots of busy work. Due dates hard to keep up with. I would have rather taken this class face to face and not online. Avoid it at all costs.

In a word....She is RUDE! Her off campus job takes priority.TA's were available only 3 times the whole quarter and they were doing their own work and couldn't answer questions about the midterm and final test .Useless !
Really not a class to take if you want to learn anything at all. Buell isn't availble for office hours and her TA's could care less. maybe she doen't tell them to do anything but grade the tests and projects. They didn't even know where she was for orientation. Basically, you teach yourself and they get paid for it.Don't even think about help.
Very rude both online and in person. Directions for projects unclear. Best to see who else is teaching this in person if you need to know the information for your intended career.Afterall, patients will be asking you information and You need to know it to tell them for their good health and nutrition.
The night of the midterm she bragged that "she busted someone" for trying to use a cell phone during the exam. She said she took the exam from the student and made them leave. Her obsession with student cheating rings is obsessive. Take this class from someone who cares about the content of what's taught.

I think Dr. Buell does a good job. She is passionate about nutrition and wants the students to understand the material. She may come off as strict but I have never had a prob with communicating with her. Makes study guide that is just like the exam!!! TAs are useless though. Not bad for online class!
She does not have any regard for her students. Study guides replicate the exam so she doesn't have to interact with the students. If you can memorize the questions vebatim and ignore the high school histrionics you are in charge of your own grade. Simple as that. Each point is tallied by a computer or scantron.Smiles,words, understanding ABSENT !!
Very rude. Not able to reach her by email or discussion board.Those students she does answer must be pharmacy students because she favors them!It's so obvioous she doesn't think anyone but pharmacy students belong in this class!She says it's an easy A for them!
Have needed help with several inconsistencies in lecture notes and textbook.Buell not available to answer questions and TAs unknowledgeable as well.MyPlate info conflicts with MyPyramid. No onw cares enough to clarify info.
A good reason she is not tenured but here long enough to be tenured. Rude slow to respond crazy about academic misconduct. A student did not pass the extras down and threatened to call police and search everyone. Closed ended questions receive open ended answers. I.E. She does not answer questions
I almost didn't take this class due to poor reviews, but so glad I took it. Buell is very good at responding to discussion questions. A lot of students just ask every question that comes to their mind and complain about not being helped. Put in a little work, remember deadlines, and you will do just fine.
Prof Buell is an asset to OSU. Never have I had a prof reach out to each of her students in the way that she has. I could see how some students will rate her poorly but that must simply be because they did not attend lecture;Prof Buell believes in giving time to those who have put in the time. Show you care and she will do more that that in return!
Very difficult to contact online or by phone. Evades answering questions directly. Can't commit to office appointments because she's committed to her other off campus job.Unconcerned about students. More interested in catching students cheating.By all means, take a different class !
Honestly, this class is easy if you put a little work into it. You must read & take the time to do the projects but it's simple and straight forward. If you don't like to read, then do not take. She answers questions but not really clearly. Her spelling is horrible in emails, discussions, and lectures. Overall, I recommend for last science
Like Archie Bunker a love or hate relationship quickly. Many past comments very true! other job takes priority. Very concerned about plagiarism and cheating. Opened ended answers to closed ended questions Work it yourself and with others
Super easy, just read the lectures and take all the quizzes a few times and go off the study guide and you'll be fine. I'm in the pharmd program and it was easy to work it around my other classes. Just make sure you take the quizzes until you get them perfect and you'll be fine. Easy A
I took the online version of this class. Super easy, and she responds quickly to questions on discussion board. A lot of people acted confused about stuff but I never had any problem, just have to read through the syllabus and instructions. I only used the book twice, quizzes are easy & if you fill out the study guides exams can't be failed.
Probably the easiest class I've ever taken. Got a VERY easy 'A', and I can honestly say that I may have put in 8 TOTAL hours of work the entire semester (Summer '12- Online). Students who moan on this board didn't; read the material, look at the slides, follow the Carmen DISCUSSION board, hand in the due assignments. Plus there were bonus points!!
This class was not that difficult. The assignments weren't that bad and as long as you studied, the exams weren't awful. Dr. Buell was very helpful and always eager to answer questions.
Her online course is not set up well. She doesn't use the Dashboard to notify you of upcoming assignments. The way she set up the modules is also very confusing. Assignment instructions are not laid out well. She is also very rude when responding to e-mails - not helpful whatsoever. I would recommend taking anyone else possible.
The online class was Nutrition 4530 with HealthSciences. The class is online but she has in-person exams. She posts so many links for you to read and expects you to memorize everything. She is also rude. Her instructions on assignments are broad and when you do not do it correctly she leaves rude comments instead of trying to tell you what do.
The class sounded interesting, but don't let it fool you. If you can avoid this class, do so by all means. Or take it with someone else. A ton of information that you need to know for the exam, and the study guide is your best friend. thankfully i didn't read a ton out of the text book, but assignments were vague in direction and tedious.
Take a different elective. Not helpful at all when trying to ask questions... Asked if we had to remember specific number statistics (i.e. formulas, percentage of daily diet, etc.) and her response was "I don't remember" for the exam. Didn't buy textbook, but stick to the study guides. Assignments were vague with little direction.
She's amazing! I took HTHRHSC 4530 in person & loved the class. Take it in person if you can bc I can see where it could be a lot for an online class. Reading the book isn't necessary but is a good reference. Know her study guide and you'll do great. Always willing to answer questions and always applying concepts to the real world. She's hilarious!
This course is very disorganized & unnecessarily hard. The content is interesting and Prof. Buell is a kind person who will try to help you- but not great at explaining things. Navigating this online course was impossible, assignments were VERY unclear, and lecture content did not always cover necessary test information. Be ready to teach yourself.
I wouldnt take course again from her.
Dr. B is a fine professor. Do the homework assignments and take notes during lecture and you'll get an A. Complete the study guide before both exams because the exams reflect the topics she writes down. She answered my emails all within 24 hours, even on weekends. Lectures are also super short. Super easy class.
I took her class in 2017, I've graduated now. Prof Buell is absolutely, without a doubt, lying about her "I've never associated Jews with a group of people" comment. Regularly, in class, she made antisemetic remarks. One time, I remember she said something like "Jews are f**ing grifters and cheats. They're diseased." I wish I reported that.
Worst professor at the university. Truly embarassing that shes a part of it.
