She is an awesome professor one of the best, im taking accounting 131 with her i cant wait, and she is definitly easy on the eyes, i took her at 9am she was a pleasent wake up, i actually liked learning in her class, TAKE HER you wont regret!

Accounting is hard but if you take it with her you will understand it. She gets a little crazy when it comes to taking tests so becareful!! Two tests and the final and she prepares you for both. Attend every class or else you'll be lost.

Dr. Burke is a great professor, i had her for 2 classes, she is always available to help her students, and tries to explain everything in terms we would understand. Her tests are not easy, and you really have to study but if you study you can do well. I would recommend her to anyone

This Professor is not available when you need her and the material is easy when explained but when it comes time for the test it's very hard and unclear.

She's very nice and explains the material pretty clearly, but when it comes to the tests she makes them hard. Studying the book with her notes helps, but theres always a few questions you arent sure of. She is pretty nice about the homeworks though.

She made me want to be an accouting major! She has very clear deliever and will help to make sure everyone will understand. She's very sweet!

The biggest mistake i made was taking this lady for cost accounting. She makes tests seem like D-Day. Total waste of tuition fees.

She was great took her for summer session, and I got an A. Very easy class!! One of my favorite accounting profs, too bad she doesnt teach anything higher than 131. Read the chapters before she lectures on them, and u will get an A without very much effort.

She's funny and LOVES chocolate!!! Make sure you eat before going to her class!

Take good notes and study exactly what she tells you. The tests somewhat tricky but they are do-able. She definitely has her favorites- and she will call on only them if you do not make a concerted effort to participate! Make sure you participate and you should be okay. NOT by any means an easy class.

awesome professor, goofy and fun. Makes the class comfortable and easy going. Material must be learned tho, participate, do hws, and review notes, itll be good.

i like her teaching straight to the point. she tells you what is on the test nothing crazy. she give extra credit when need. she goes over everything. if you do your homework and review for the test you will have no problem. i will tell you to read all the chapter and use the study guide it really helps

First test is the worse, but you get use to her style of test and it isn't that bad. Also, she doesn't tell you, but the whoever gets the two highest grades on the first two test are exempt from the final.

Dr. Burke is a good professor, sometimes she gets nervous and forgets what she's talking about..But overall, she is a good teacher who keeps the class interesting..

I had Burke for 102 and will be taking her 131 course..she is very nice, the class was fun overall, not stressful at all, and her tests are straight forward..she is easy on eyes as well!!

Professor Burke is pretty awesome. Accounting 101 is not a very hard class and the notes she gives explaining the material are very helpful. Homework is straightforward and tests are reasonable. She is very sweet and managed to make accounting somewhat interesting

The tests are not necessarily easy, but they are fair. She really made class fun and interesting. She made me want to become an Accounting major. Very pretty, too.

Easy to get along with. Does what she can to make it all as simple as possible. Plus she's kinda pretty (for a professor). I hope she teaches higher courses b/c I'll sign up instantly. BTW you DO NOT want her to catch you cheating.

I came into this class thinking that I would never understand anything but i was wrong. She was very clear with everything and made the studying process a lot easier. Plus, she really wants everyone to do well and gives a lot of extra credit. If i was an accounting major, i would def take her again!

Great professor, go to her lectures and take notes! Tests are difficult but are directly from the lecture. Doing the homework helps and she starts most of the problems in class. Gives a lot of extra credit. Had trouble controlling class of 80 and got pretty shrill, but overall class was a pleasant experience.

Good teacher, but she's super annoying. She grades everything by the book down to the tee and will make you aware of that. Homeworks are annoying and so are the extra credits- really time consuming, you will die. Tests are multi. choice but tricky and she HAWKS so you CANNOT CHEAT. WARNING! Just go with another teacher, save yourself the headache.

Very tough grader, and her exams can be quite tedious. However, she is a very intelligent professor and is always more than willing to talk to you about anything accounting related whether it's course material or career stuff. One of my favorite professors!

Dr. burke explains exactly what will be on the test. All the homeworks are exact copies of stuff she does in class with juts different numbers. she does not try to trick you and is crystal clear with what to expect on the test. do the homework and ATTEND EVERY CLASS and you will be fine

Good professor, though i didn't get a well grade.

She's so nice and makes the class very fair. A few tests that are hard (I'm a non-acct major) but she offers extra credit a lot! If you go to her office hours she'll help you. Attending class really helps...and buy the right edition textbook for specific hmwk problems!

Professor Burke was really great. Her presentation of the material was very clear, and she made it easy to understand. She was always willing to answer questions, and she was one of my favorite professors. Know that there are weekly homework assignments for this class (ACCT 203).

Literally gave extra credit just for typing up homework assignments. Takes attendance but not mandatory. Hand writes every note on a smartboard so lectures tend to take a while. Does have a tendency to lose track of what she's talking about and easily confuses herself.

Professor Burke is one of the most organized professors I have had. She gives you clarity for everything she expects. There are a lot of assignments, but she grades based on effort. Lots of extra credit opportunities and she posts all her notes (no reading in textbook required). The test come straight from the notes-study and you'll be fine!

The class itself is pretty difficult. I didn't do my best with Burke. However, she does a lot of extra credit and she curves exams!

I LOVE HER!! Her lectures are long but she makes it so easy to understand. If you miss class the notes are online. The test are based on what you learn no suprises! You get homeowrk about every 2 weeks but its not hard and helps for the tests! If you take notes you will do just fine. Theres alot of extra credit, she wants you to do well!

Dr. Burke is hands down my favorite professor i've had here at Hofstra. She is very kind, polite, and understanding. Tests are a little tough but she has clear lectures. All homeworks are from the textbook; if you type them up you'll receive extra credit! I wish I was an accounting major so I could take more of her classes.

I did not expect to be at ALL interested in accounting, but Dr. Burke makes it interesting. She provides a grading calculator to check your grade status as the semester goes along, gives extra credit alongside every HW and other EC opportunities throughout the semester. All MC exams. Do your work, study the material, and you'll be fine.

Dr. Burke does a great job teaching the course material. The class is tough, but it is definitely possible to do well. Completing the homework assignments is a must. You get extra credit for typing them.

Dr. Burke is an excellent professor. The material is challenging, but she is available to her students during office hours and by appointment. There is extra credit in the course, and if you do it all, it can boost your grade nearly 2 letter grades (10 or so points of EC available). DO YOUR HOMEWORK, and go to class! It's what helped me get the A!

I absolutely adore Dr. Burke for her passion, character, and ability to teach. Her ACCT 101 class was, unexpectedly and strangely, inspiring. I watched lots of students struggle in her class, but that's accounting for you. Work hard, attend class, take good notes, and you will be fine. Don't miss out on Dr. Burke - she's amazing.

Burke was my favorite professor my freshman year! The textbook is not necessary to always read, but make sure you do the homework! She gives a ton of extra credit on homework assignments and curves test depending on the highest grade. She doesn't believe in ending class early, but I didn't miss her class once bc you learn everything for the exams.

Made me absolutely love accounting. Used great examples, always there to help (even though you barley need it because she's a amazing teacher). She gives great advice and really care about her students. After taking her class she's now my favorite teacher and I hope to have her again!

by far my favorite teacher ive had at this school. took accounting 101 with another professor and dropped but when i retook it with burke she made me love accounting. classes are fun and if you pay attention to the lectures and class exercises you will do great on the tests. many extra credit opportunities. grading is very clear.

One of the best professors at Hofstra. My only recommendation is to not take her your first semester, because I did and I slacked off not realizing the effort that had to be put into her class. She cares about her students, is always available to talk you through things you don't understand, and is so sweet. Don't underestimate her, she's great :)

I am very bad at math and accounting is a very dry subject. Dr. Burke has complete mastery over the material taught. I doubt I would have gotten as high of a mark as I did without Dr. Burke as my professor.

Professor Burke was one of the professors that made learning manageable this semester. Homework comes directly from the textbook as well as the lecture notes. If you do the required assignments and put in the effort, easy A. Study for the tests and attend the classes.

Accounting can be challenging, but Dr. Burke makes it manageable and, honestly, bearable. She is very clear in her explanations and always gives examples of real-world applications of what we learn. I can't stress it enough: TAKE HER!

This woman is an excellent professor. My only complaint about her is that I wish she taught more classes! She made me really love accounting and discover my true passion. She's probably one of the best professors at Hofstra! She explains things so clearly and she's got some really funny jokes too!

This prof doesn't just know the material, she knows how to teach. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow. You will never have to read from the text book because her lessons are PERFECT. She will literally do class exercises that break down the process step by step, and then you can use that exercise as a template to do the homework!

Prof Burke is a wonderful choice but her grading is very straightforward. Homework and 3 tests ( 1 test 1 midterm 1 final), it doesn't matter if you participate or not, the homework and the tests make up your grade. She explains clearly but rushes before a test. Very knowledgeable but lectures and material can be dense, especially with no previous accounting experience. The notes are clear and much of the exam material comes from them. The homework is graded on completion and very similar to class exercises. She curved 9 points on an exam even though someone got a 100. Exams are MC and 30-40 questions.

She knows how to teach take this professor if you want to pass with a good grade.

I lucked out with Professor Burke; she's a great professor and teaches you majority of the crucial basics of accounting. I don't have anything bad to say, she gives a good amount of extra credit, and her test are really easy. Accounting isn't hard with her at all, and I strongly suggest you take it Acct 101 with her.

She is a good teacher, Her tests are multiple choice answers. Pay attention during class and you will be just fine, I struggled because I just Brain Rotted Every class. Don't copy each other's homework answers she will find out and you will be penalized for it. Pay attention in class and follow with her packet and you will be good.

One of my favorite professors so far. She's a great person who wants everyone to do well. Usually curves exams a little. 3 tests and homework is your whole grade. Study, do the homework and you will be fine. Textbook is required for the homework. Also, she doesn't care about attendance.

THE TRUTH: One of, if not, the best professors I've ever had at Hofstra. She makes accounting so easy. She provides a thick course material pamphlet that you'll use throughout the semester. The homework are questions from the textbook. She offers .15 extra credit if you do it in Excel. Gave us review sheets for every exam. Very funny mom vibes

Professor Burke is truly the best professor I have had at Hofstra. She knows how to teach and if you pay attention, you will succeed. You have to take notes and complete the in-class material, but if you do and truly understand the concepts she teaches, you will get a good grade. She even curves a little too if the average is a little low.

If you respect this professor and put in effort to learn the material, she will respect you. Accounting by no means is an easy subject to learn, but Burke goes the extra mile for her students. Just show effort and she will invest effort into you.
