She talked about controversial topics in biology, which made the content more interesting. She was kind and thoughtful.

Professor Cala incorporates technology into her teachings and I think that helps keep the class engaged. She is tough, but like a good mom tough not like a drill Sargent tough.

She is super cool and gives out extra credit. She just goes through the material kind of quick so you have to pay attention and show up to class.

If you study, the class won't be too bad. The textbook that we used was a coloring workbook and the majority of our homework was assigned from that. The workbook helps a lot for quizzes and exams. Great teacher! She does go through the lectures fast, but she makes them available on Canvas. Participation is part of the grade.

Professor Cala is really nice and easy going, she really wanted all of her students to succeed, she even changed the course layout to better benefit us. The lectures were always very accessible. The quizzes are difficult if you do not study but she helps you out as much as possible.

She didn't have us use a textbook, only read a really interesting book. Which can be found on youtube if you don't want to read. The way she does participation points is a bit silly, she asks questions and if you get them wrong you lose PARTICIPATION points. If you just show up to class, do the work (which is really easy stuff) you should pass.

The textbook for the class is a book you will read throughout the semester. Attendance is vital to not only surviving the class, but earning your grade as well. This was the first biology teacher that I took since being out of higschool for more then a few years. I though it was gonna be real tough but she made the class easy with labs and notes. Just make sure you stay on top of the reading and all of the lab notes you must take it all matters.

My class was the first hybrid class ever for Bio160. I'm not a huge science guy but Professor Cala was one of the most knowledgeable and caring professors I've had at Chandler-Gilbert. The labs were not hard because it was in groups if I had to pick the hardest things about this course it was the exams which were online. Highly recommend her class

SIMPLE LESSONS FOR A HARD CLASS SHES REALLY NICE

Took the class online, but it was so organized and clear that it was a breeze. The modules are lined up exactly in the order they should be done with clear due dates. She is friendly and always available for questions via email. Made the subject so much easier to understand.

The course seems intimidating because there is a lot of information and seems like too many things to have to memorize. Professor Cala is very kind, she drops your lowest grade for each assignment group including exam and practical. She reviews twice weekly, gives extra credit throughout the course. Also gives points back on test for most missed q.

I really enjoyed Professor Cala. The class was sadly moved to online because of COVID-19, so I think it wouldve been a lot easier in person. She was very thorough with everything but we did have a lot of work- but it opened up so we could get it done early if we wanted. Shes awesome!

I'm not that into Science and Biology is a very difficult topic. I wasn't a fan of the BioBeyond we used in the course. It wasn't very user friendly, especially the, Into the Cell assignment. BEWARE. But professor Cala is very friendly and she seems to care.

I took an 8 week class be prepared to spend many hours on lessons and labs. It takes a long time to complete and the exams are very hard, but closely related to the nearpod notes. Being in class is mandatory since we do a lot of labs and it is hard to do the assignments connected with it if you aren't there (that is where I went wrong). She is very knowledgeable about the subjects and it is very easy to follow along. In class is very hands on and never boring, also has videos online you can look through. I liked this class.

Overall the class was okay. Grading is very important to not miss points. The assessments are a bit difficult. I often found myself not knowing some things that were not on the review/study guide so maybe an error on my part but still a bit frustrating because I prepared for the assessments. Prof. Cala is very nice but strict on late submissions.

2 lectures and 2 labs a week with an occasional discussion board! Lectures are online and at your own pace, make sure to do them before the day of the lab!

Great class that applies biology to everyday life in an interesting way. Labs were really fun and teacher was entertaining while also teaching complex subjects in a way that made them much easier to understand. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone looking for a biology or lab class.

I personally did not think I would learn much from using near pods from struggling with online notes but having the voice over during the slides made it ten times easier to one grasp the content and be able to engage in the discussions in class. I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend having Cala as your professor (from fav table)

I really enjoyed Dr. Cala and her course! The Nearpods are an essential for the class and take advantage of the extra credit! Dr. Cala is caring and responds quickly on when reaching out on emails!

She is very passionate on what she teaches and just is a great person overall. Her class is formatted so that students get lots of hands on projects and it really helps to understand the material! Always answers questions clearly is overall very understanding. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to take this class.

Professor Cala is a wonderful teacher, she is willing to help if you are having trouble understanding a topic. I loved this class because it was not textbook-based, every lesson is given on a PowerPoint that you have to actively participate in, this class is amazing for visual learners.

Professor Cala is fun and keeps things active! She makes sure everyone understands and has several extra credit oppertunities. She doesn't require too much reading and is good at explaining things. If you have a question then there is a high probability she has an answer.

I was scared taking a science class because I've never been good at it, but this class was very easy to understand! Proffesor Cala is very friendly and accommodating! For the hybrid course the online lectures were done through near pod which made everything so engaging. She is great and I recommend her for people that are not the best at science!

I had professor Cala as my BIO100 teacher and I had an amazing experience! She taught me so many new things about molecular biology and how I can integrate it into the real world. I had a few personal and family emergencies come up during my semester and professor Cala couldn't have been more understanding and compassionate given my situations!!!!

She is an amazing teacher. Uses nearpod for her lectures but every slide is her explaining. A child could easily learn in this class. Super easy to follow along and she is very sweet overall. Will drop 3 lowest grades that you get in exams, labs, and assignments. 100% recommend taking her!

Super easy class, she really sets you up for success. Class consists of labs, homework is doing near pods for next days lesson. Quiz on every module done at home. Final is done in class. Many extra credit opportunities, very hard to fail this class.

Pretty cool teacher. She knows what she's teaching which I always appreciate. She is pretty strict on attendance but nonetheless she's cool. I like her projects. They're engaging and fun! I'm not a fan of biology but this was a fun class

She was very professional, but also friendly in class. She did very well in treating our class as college kids who can make our own decisions. Make-up work is not offered if you miss class, but she does have a 'life policy' that drops the three lowest assignments in the grade book—very chill and laid-back class. I would recommend it for first years

Was intimidated by her at first because the first day of class i showed up super late! she was super understanding and i had no reason to be intimidated by here. Overall such a great professor, her lectures aren't boring, she explains topics clearly, and the labs she did were very creative!

She did an amazing job with the lectures and the time spent in class. All of the tests are open note not open internet so as long as you have good notes and show up to class it is easy to pass.
