Previous post is obviously a looser. Lab directions are so clear my 13 year old kid sister could follow them. I've never had a teacher who was so organized and clear.

Umm.. I really do not know how I feel about her. I liked her for the first month, until she started making comments about me and the guy who I sat next to in class... and giving me a B when I maintained A grades on all of my assignments and exams.

The posting from 2/18 had no clue what they were doing! The assignments are easy to understand (although you have to understand the course material). If you are at MJC and need this course... take her or suffer the fate as 2/18 did.

Yes, her class is very difficult. The key is to take advantage of her office hours! Don't be shy! The time u take to go see her will definately improve your grade!!!

If you are willing to put in time and effort on your part(go to SI sessions, use her office hours, etc) you will do fine. Don't blow off the labs, they will save you! Its no walk in the park, but its doable!

I thought Mrs. Faris was a really nice person. She wants all her students to succeed and she is definitely not an evil person that wants to see us fail. She does grade hard and she can be rude....to some people, but she does teach well. Just study and do your homework and then you will pass. It's up to you.

She goes a little fast, but if you put in your part such as studying, SI and utilize office hours there is no going wrong. She is EXTREMELY helpful, as long as you ask for help. If you are rude and interrupt her class then she will be rude right back to you. She is an AWESOME teacher. Got an A in her class and would take her again in a heart beat!

Jacquelin is a great person. I have never had a class with her, but I work with her in the SI program and also with AGS. She is another professor who holds high standards for learning and will push you to go beyond your potental and help u grow

I found this teacher to be stern yet helpful. She would always review with us before a quiz. I felt that she wanted to insure that we knew the material needed to pass our exams. All of the quizes and exams were very basic, not to difficult if you studied. She a great teacher if you want to review before going to math 70.

This class is tough but very passable if you put in the time and effort...like any other COLLEGE class. Also, she is very funny and will always help you out if you go to her for help.

She was a good teacher and I learned a lot. The homework was really easy but her tests and quizes were hard. I am really weak in math but her class helped a lot even if I didn't pass. She is good with giving help!

Mrs. Faris is a good teacher. Her class is tough, and at times you may not like her, but in the end she is very reasonable. She can sense good effort and she is ALWAYS willing to help. She opens her office hours to study groups, which helped a lot. If you have a brain, if you really try, if you go to class, and if you want to pass, you'll pass!

She is a very hard teacher. Take her if you are really good in math. If you pass math 70 with c please don't take her coz she expects a lot. A very hard grader. She is nice too and will alwayz help you as long as you need. I won't say that she is a bad teacher but a strict teacher. So guy please don't be panic if u r good in math.

she is a very hard grader...your really need to know your stuff to take her. I was in class everyday and did all my homework, and put alot of effort in my work. At the end I believe only 10 people were left in her class do not take her for math 90

This is a hard class but she is more than willing to help anyone. As long as you come to class and study for tests, you will pass. I would recommend her completely!

I agree what other students described about Ms. Faris. She is very helpful for you if you want to study Statistics.

Faris is awesome! Stats is not easy, but at least with her you don't have to memorize formulas! She will help you in every way possible, but you have to put forth the effort to get a good grade...

I was dreading having to take Stats as I have major math anxiety! This class is challenging, but Ms. Faris is very helpful. She loves statistics & wants you to succeed. She is the most helpful professor I have ever had. The stats class is VERY time consuming, but I wouldn't have taken it with ANY other professor. Funny, relatable, corky, very intelligent, puts an amazing twist on all of her concepts so that anyone can understand. Pay attention, put hours into the class, ask questions, and You will be SO thankful!

She is so great. She loves statistics and her students. She rubs some people the wrong way, but who cares she's an awesome teacher! Stats is tough though so you'll have to work hard.

This class would have been much easier to bear if her grading were more consistent. You can know exactly what you're doing, but end up losing 20 points on a test for leaving out brackets. I wouldn't take math with her, especially if you don't like math. Enjoy weekly pop quizzes!

obviously she knows her stuff, but her grading is inconsistent. Sometimes she'll mark you off for doing too much work. She marks of so many points for little mistakes. She'll help you though, but she let's you know she's smarter than you...

She is very helpful and also explains every problem cuz she loves statisitcs. I would recommend her.

She's a great teacher w/out a doubt and she is sooo helpful i would take her for stats because she loves and her labs are fun and easy.

Prof. Faris is a really good teacher. She really tried to make you understand the material and prepare you for math 90. She grades kind of hard because she is somewhat perfectionistic however she does everything in her power to help you. I would love to have her for math 90.

The class was a lot of work. Professor Faris is really good teacher and she is very fair in grading. She is very straight forward and she tries to help all her students pass. Pretty much you can get any grade you want as long as your willing to put in the time and effort.

She trys to get you to the next level for math. She does not like disruptions in her class becasue it impares others ability to learn. SHE HAS ALWAYS ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS AND WAS HAPPY TO DO SO. I personally love her class, and a lot of the people who sit by me love her too. If you study, you should do well. Good Luck!

Professor Faris is an amazing instructor. I am 5 weeks from ending her statistics class. She is very passionate about what she does and her teaching style illustrates that! You will work very hard in her class but it will be the most rewarding experience. If you pass her class you will be ready for the work load when you transfer!!

Very good instructor. I'm not going to be able to pass her class but i know retaking it will not be her. She is tough and hard on her exams but she is very understanding how we want to succeed her class.

I took this class in the summer of 09 and im really glad I did. She demands the book everyday and her lectures are clear and great. Show up to every class, do your hw and study for quizzes and you'll pass easily. I got a B because i didn't study for my first test but passed all the rest. =)

She is rude at first in order to get rid of all of the dead weight.(people who will just hold everyone back)she is a bit tough, but if you show an interest that you are truing, she will help. tests are sort of hard( but not too hard). Final was super easy!!Imm taking 70 with her in the summer.

She may come across rude at first, but it's just to get people who are not serious OUT!I took her for math20, & I hadn't taken any math for 8 yrs and I got an A! You MUST study like crazy and show up to every class and of course do h/w! I am taking her for 70 & 134!

Faris is passionate about stats & is very intelligent. This is a rewarding class, you do have to put work into it, but she's very helpful and strict on grading. You'll learn a lot! Carve out the time for the class, you'll need it. You get a thorough understanding, very practical to use in life. I highly recomend her! MJC is lucky to have her.

This class is very tough. She moves fast and you must keep up. Have to say though, I learned a lot. Put in work and you will do fine. I earned a B in the class.

I think she is a great teacher i really enjoyed her class and she is so helpful if you take the time. Her class is a bit tough at times and requires a lot of work but she wants you to pass and love math. She does make some silly mistakes on the board but its no big deal, she corrects them right away or owns up to them. She's great!

This class is extremely difficult. SI sessions are mandatory if you want to pass this class. Overall there is four tests , ten quizzes, and a few easy labs. Every quiz is hard but prepares you for the test.

Awesome teacher that made learning fun, for me personally. She's honest and won't cut no slack to no one, and has no favorites...that makes every bit of the class equal to pass and fail. Don't take this class if you expect to pass by attendance alone or miss days due to personal problems.

Instructor has spunk, very lively. She can either be really nice or very strict. Personally, I like the strictness because she keeps her students in line which is good in a math class. Homework every night, fairly tough exams. She has no problem kicking out or failing slackers so if you can't do the work, don't bother taking her class.

She's strict, but very helpful. She encourages all of her students to pass, which is why she's always on top of her game. The people who think she's a bad teacher are the slackers. She posts up lab answers as a guide for your exams. She puts the material she covers in class on the exams, so you can't say you didn't learn it. Helpful.

This Teacher is AMAZING. I failed math the first time I took it, and passed with flying colors with Faris. She's extremely tough sometimes, but it pays off. Never got an exam grade lower than 79%. Homework every night, but well worth it. Don't take this class if you're looking for an easy pass. Take it if you really want to learn something.

Faris is an excellent teacher. You want to be treated like an adult? Take Faris' stats class. You want to be babied and half ass it through the semester? Don't go near her. These people bad-mouthing her are the people we all see in our classes who don't read, don't study, and still expect to succeed. Faris is tough, but fair.

Ms. Faris is a great but strict teacher! Math is very hard for me and she was able to help me understand and pass this class! The tests are easy if you do the homework which is online. She explains the problems very well and the class is easy just as long as you complete the homework.

She is really tough but on the first day, she tells you to join a study group. Mine saved my life in this class. She puts on the test what she says she will and i feel prepared for my univeristy.

Although Faris is tough I think she is a good professor. I took her for Stats and I feel like she does a great job at explaining how to do things. She gives a lot of in class examples that you should use to reference for homework and tests. You will have to do the work to get a good grade.

She's not going to hold your hand through the course. But if you go to her office hours she will help you understand the material and you can always get tutoring at the library. She's strict but fair. If you don't show up to class you likely wont understand the material.

Professor Faris is one of the realest professors I've had at MJC, and by real I mean that she demands all of her students to be true students of academia and not just lazy community college students, which is to say that her standards are high and her personality reflects her strong work ethic and value of education. Because of her, I love stats.

I took Prof. Faris last year so this rating is a little late, but I see a lot of deceptive reviews on here. She's a tough grader, no doubt. She's incredibly strict on what she expects on projects - read the directions! The difference between an A and a B for me was thinking that I had this class since I took calc 2. Stats ! normal math

Professor Faris is a great teacher, definitly one of the best at MJC, but statistics is hard. She is a tough person but she loves her students. I took stats before with another proffessor and fell on my face from confusion. Faris is CLEAR and FAIR. You will have to do your homework, you will have to read, you will have to TRY. TAKE FARIS NO JOKE!!

She's a very in your face kind of teacher, if you don't look like you're understanding a concept she will call you out by name to make sure you understand. But she cares about her students and whether or not they pass, that's why she will call you by name, she will keep track of you and remind you of all assignments coming up.

Faris is a hard love teacher. If you try hard and do all what she says to do then you will have a better experience. THIS IS NOT A SLACK OFF CLASS! She teaches in a way for you to apply it to life. Stats is a very hard class there is just no other way of putting it, and Faris doesn't make it easy. To get an A you really have to want it.

I was terrified of math before this, but Faris put math into a language that was easy to understand, she's always open to talk during office hours and explain anything to you. She will not coddle you, she's straight, to the point. Her expectations are high, but she is well worth it. You will learn a lot- soak up every bit of guidance she gives!!

Take Faris if you want to learn Stats the RIGHT WAY. She is very passionate about Statistics so expect to dig deeper into the content than the textbook and don't expect to pass if you don't put in the work and time required for a 5 unit course. She goes above and beyond to make sure all her students understand, just don't hesitate to ask questions!

Mrs. Faris is one of the most outstanding professors Ive taken at mjc. First of all she treat the class as adults . She gives hard problems and is a tough grader to prepare S.T.E.M. students for their upper division math classes. On more then one occasion she sat down with me to see where i was going wrong with my studying, take this professor!
