She does NOT teach! It is that simple. She rarely even goes to the chalkboard and when she does it is very brief and you will be lucky to get one example of any math problem. She will pass every student but they will not have learned anything.

Not interested in math? Just need a passing grade? Take this instructor. Make comments about the things she talks about to pass class time. You can re-take quizzes or test. My brother took this class an so did some friends. We all made A's or B's and don't have a clue what we learned. NO more math for me. YEAH!

Ok, let me start by stating that she is, in no way a teacher... she records her lectures, i bet to only listen to herself..this will be a very easy class...but i need to learn, i dont need it to be easy... i need to LEARN!!!

She should be a counselor, not a teacher...a teacher, teaches..she doesn't. She just goes on and on and on....At least my GPA will go up. :)

I'm still in shock over this class.... I have no idea what just happened..... I know all about her daughter and her grand daughter, but wasn't there s'posed to be something about math in there????? Am I here?

Horrible teacher, she is always asking us if what she is wearing is nice "FLY". She doesn't teach.. "We are already SCHOLARS" She is always on the phone with her bank and is always talking about she only has 2dollars in her accout. If you actually want to learn Math don't take this class.. she preaches every chance she gets. She's a minister.

this professor does not teach at all i had straight A's in her class and i failed the final and she have me a ip i have to take the class again.

This teacher is so lazy that she never do nothing in class and tells storys that never connect to mathematic.She eats and drinks her pills in class. Never take her. she never serious. lazy math teacher.

worst teacher EVER!!! all she does is tell inane stories about herself, her credentials and her accomplishments (which are not that impressive). i stopped going because i couldn't stand to listen to her and she still gave me an A. if learning is actually important to you, don't bother. if you want what will be most likely an easy A, go ahead!

She can't teach because she thinks playing a tape recorder is the way for everyone to learn math. Little to no problems done on the board and when she does, she rushes through them. I'm planning on taking higher level math courses, but she will not help you out. You'd be better off looking for another prof. She's a nice person, but just can't teach

I wrote this comment to warn students about Mrs. Jacqueline Giles. This lady will mess up your GPA (If you are an engineer, pre-med, pharmacy or math major) .I attended her Calculus class in the fall of 2007. Mrs. Giles is an unorganized teacher that refuses to teach the students math. Mrs. Giles’s testes are extremely difficult to pass.

She is the worst teacher that I ever taken.

Anyone who wants to get an A, take her now!! She doesn't teach at all. She would just talk about herself throughout the semester. Just show up on the final day of the semester. Take the test. Test is very easy just use your calculator and get done with Calculus with an A.

All I can say is that you have to depend on yourself in this class. She goes on about her life most of the time. She'll skim through the chapter and "teach" instead on how you should live your life. It's an easy "A", you'll learn a lot about how to ignore her, how to teach yourself Math, and about Lewis Carroll. I'm taking her again this fall!

Run, don't walk AWAY from this professor. She is useless. She talks about sports all the time. I took her class before I found this website. Big mistake. I wasn't ready for the next level. She really needs to retire. How she got a Ph.D. I will never know.

Take professor Giles if you want a totally easy and stress free class. I am excellent in Algebra so I didn't care whatever nonsense she talks about with the students. You must study on your own and don't depend on Ms Giles for any help. Her class was more philosophy and religion than Algebra. Made an easy A without her help.

use alot of self teaching. lazy a regular day in her class consists of her talking for about an hour about life and her football colum, she then does one example records herself then uploads it to her learning web, then replays it.

She gives you a lot of advice, lectures on life and that's about it! You forget you are in math class, what a waste of money and time! She should be a philosophy teacher not a math teacher.

Took her over the summer. Thought I should drop her after the first week BUT realized that with the amount of extra credit I couldn't fail. Take her if you don't really like math or if you're bad at it. Class is boring but if she notices that you're trying, you'll get an A.

Arbitrary grading procedures. Mostly off topic discussion in class. Very friendly and personable, however. Would not recommend her if you are continuing on to other math.

This professor does not teach you, I cant believe HCC is letting her teach, it's a waste of my money. She has not taught one topic since the course began. Been relying on YouTube, Please don't take her, it's wasting your money, she makes it very clear after a few days that she's there to collect her check and move on with her day.

Okay where do I begin.If you need Cal 2 and actually want to learn do not take this teacher. She does not get up and teach AT ALL.This was basically a teach yourself class. You will absolutely need a book in her class, all tests come from the book.

you want a GPA Boosters get in this class you will get a A she will teach you about life to get your mind right for school and help you with math and your confidence in college

Beware, this professor is lazy. Nice woman but this is a self taught class. This class is basically online. Three test online and final in class.

I would recommend taking another professor. This class is self taught and mainly online she is more religious than actually teaching math.

Regret signing up for this course. If she would stay on topic, I would consider her a great teacher.

Not a good teacher at ALL. She rambles about her personal life and changes her mind about class requirements without telling you. For example, she told us that our online assignments were optional and for practice but if we completed it then we would get 20 extra points toward our overall grade now our grades are based solely on our online work.

She takes the class off track a lot in a four hour class we did math for maybe an hour and a half. All graded work is online and she grades little short quizzes and your notes in class. She spends 2 mins explaining and equation then keeps going. Does not wait for you at all Ex. gives you 5 questions you will have all the answers before you finish 2

horrible. do not take her! goes way too fast and gets mad when you ask for help. she goes off talking about herself and ignores the lecture.

Does not communicate with students. Very smart woman, however, there is little math that goes on during class. It is more of a history lesson. When she does actually teach math, there is no room to slow down. She moves to fast and when you ask a question, you get told that you should already know this.

Professor Giles is a smart for sure and she may give extra credit and you may not have to really show up which is fine for the people who just want a grade and to move on. But we went the whole semester without learning anything She would put in videos and tell us to watch them and if we had questions she would just hit the replay button. madness

I have NEVER failed a class till I took her. She hardly taught anything this sem. She mostly talked about herself. She expects you to know a lot about the subject already since it's an entry level college class. Math is something you have to continuously practice; but if it's something you have difficulty with, you will NOT get anywhere with her!

honestly i never like giving reviews for professors . but i have never had a professor who honestly was bad. she didnt really teach anything honestly. i didnt learn a thing i had to basically teach myself the course. i did a virtual class for her but everytime i logged in all she would say is "work on your homework" never go over a actual lesson

Just had hurricane Beryl come through and she already expects us to have two assignments done despite us not even attending a single class yet. Bad feelings about this professor and we're just getting started.

Doesn't really lecture just plays videos better off taking the class online so you don't waste the time you could actually be learning.

Probably one of the worst professors I have ever had. Does not teach in class AT ALL, all she does is play the videos from Pearson and the textbook, spends most of the class just telling random life stories and is unnecessarily political. She is about 80 and im NOT sorry to say that it's time for her to retire.

This is my first math course in over 12 years; this teacher is not for somebody like me; I prefer to be self-taught in most things but since it's been so long since I've taken math I thought it'd be a good to have an in-person classroom; There were no dates for our exams posted until halfway through the semester; you won't learn much in class

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! you will learn absolutely nothing in her class. all she does is play the videos from the text book and spend a good 30 minutes talking about random things. most of the time she wont even tell you what section she's going over, or she'll skip like 3-4 sections in a chapter (sections that will be on the test mind you).

STAY AWAY! SERIOUSLY! She doesnt teach math, she reads poetry, talks about the civil rights movement and tells you stories from her past as a child.She is a sweet lady, but worst teacher I have ever taken. WE LITERALLY NEVER TALK ABOUT MATH! Then, right before class is over, she assigns 6 chapters for self study and its all on the exam
