Jacqueline is a nice person - but her teaching skills are lacking. Ability to answer questions is low. I think she is new to teaching. She trys and is very willing to help - but the subject matter itself (Buddhism) is hard to teach... Lots of movies / guest speakers / and a field trip. BE SURE to attend class if you want a decent grade...
Jackie is a wonderful person and professor. If she can't answer a question in class she will come prepared to answer it in detail next class. She values participation in class discussions, so speak up in class! Also, Jackie is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Just saying.
She always tries to answer questions and if she can't answer them she writes it down and comes back next class with an answer. Very passionate and always tries to make the class as enjoyable as possible. Pretty easy marker and tests are easy too. I'd recommend her as a prof any day.
The absolute WORST!! Never answers questions, wastes class time with videos , and pictures that dont really have anything to do with the lecture, and the videos dont load half the time so you're out early. Tests are looong and difficult. She also scheduled field trips, that were hard to make time for, as i had a full schedule. Do not take her class
LOVE this prof. She makes class exciting by using fun activities, videos and field trips. As long as you attend class and use the study guide she gives you for the exam you will do fine. Her expectations are clear. If you cannot attend a field trip she is understanding and will arrange something for you to make up the marks.
Took Eastern Religions with her. She's passionate, knowledgeable and can give personal insight. Lectures can be messy, they're longer than normal; 1hr 50 minutes 2 times a week, and she moves at a snails pace through the power points. Exams can be gruelling, prepare to have several very long short answer sequences no MC. Textbook very optional.
You can tell she is really passionate about religion, however I think she failed to make the lectures interesting. Very long, and slow. I always was nodding off. Your whole grade is off of 2 midterms and the final-- the midterms were super long. She is a pretty fair marker. Never needed textbook in class, optional to read for more info at home.
Does not connect her own beliefs to the textbook. Talks non stop. Tests are very long! Not a fan.
I found her lectures to be very dry. Does not realize students have other classes and it is almost impossible to do very well in her class. Class average was in the 60's . She tried to make the lectures relatable but anything we learned wasn't good enough of an answer on the test. Expects you to have a lot of previous knowledge. Wont take again.
I found the content interesting, but the teaching a bit scattered. The slides were not very helpful, and she didn't get to Eastern Religions until the end, which was disappointing. It's possible to get a decent mark, but requires taking good notes, doing assigned readings and a lot of study (not being personally religious). I.e: college basics.
As an instructor, Jackie is accessible and a good marker, however, the course material was scattered and confusing most of the time. To do good in her online courses it is important to do all the readings and make meticulous notes on each one because her tests nitpick on smaller details. All in all, it is possible to do well but with dedication.
tests are hard, you have to nail every point. can NOT just study slides, if you don't go to class & make note of everything you probably won't do well. missed 2 classes in the first 2 months, thought i caught up and then failed midterm. If she has guest speakers, make sure you're paying 100% attention. She is super nice and approachable tho.
Jackie's class was one of the more interesting classes that I have taken. 90% of your grade will be based on: 2 midterm exams (30% each), then a 30% final... that sounds horrible but if you show up, attend the guest lectures (worth 2% each time you show up), & write down the points she makes on the board you will do GREAT. She is also super nice!!!
Her tests were all long answer which at first seems intimidating but she does it that way so that you can get the most marks for your answer. The topic was super interesting and she was engaging and knew her topic well. Not many readings. Writes important thing on the board- so its important to attend class. Easy A for sure.
Jackie is a really approachable person. Makes classes fun by incorporating videos and images into her lectures. Schedules really cool field trips as well. Tests are long and require lots of detail, so its important to start studying well in advance. If she doesnt know the answer to a question, she always finds out by the next class. Shes great!
Jackie is a nice person, but a terrible instructor. Don't even bother asking questions because she most likely won't know the answers. Tests ALWAYS have errors and she doesn't even know the answers to her own course content. Powerpoints are vague and don't actually have useful content. All around a waste of time.
She is a nice person who doesn't overstep boundaries when teaching topics like religion. Doesn't seem that knowledgable about topics taught beyond what is stated in lecture. But genuinely cares for students (gives out midterm answers!) Tests are very easy A+'s, but only if you show up to class and take detailed notes on everything she says.
Really great teacher and caring. Midterms were not hard as long as you pay attention and take notes of everything in lectures.
She doesnt know so much about the content beyond her lecture slides or the details on the stuff on the lecture slides. Slides are very vague and attendance is must. Exams are super easy if you go to class. She doesnt cross boundaries but shes also not very wise with some comments. Not the best religion prof, but shes a not bad. I learned a lot.
Very easy GPA booster elective. Still, you need to go to every lecture and make note of all the specific details she says. I found that her organization was lacking because the last unit (Islam) seemed very rushed and I didn't learn half as much as was taught on Judaism/Christianity.
I took RELS 201 this semester and she was a good prof. The TA taught the Islam and it was the most difficult unit. You cant skip class because the PowerPoint notes arent very detailed.
If you can take her class in the spring you get to go on field trips rather than sit in a lecture. The class was organized and she had VERY clear criteria for the final paper. Overall, good class and learned a bunch.
As someone with little interest about religion I am very happy I took this class with her. Her lectures are engaging almost like story telling. Write everything down she says and you will pass with flying colors. She can sometimes be a little unorganized but overall very good! Her tests are long but very easy if you attend her lectures.
She's a really kind and understanding prof. The course consists of 3 tests (2 midterms and 1 final), each worth 30%. The other 10% is for showing up to guest lectures and participation. If you can't show up, she lets you do assignments to make up for it and even though she has a clear cut grading criteria, she gives really good marks.
Amazing professor!! She really cares about her students' well-being; making sure they're not overwhelmed by the amount of content to study for.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jacqueline. She is very laid back and the type of prof that really understands what life as a student. If you don't show up you probably wont get a good grade because her lecture slides do not contain a lot of information that will be tested. She can unorganized at times and relies heavily on testing!
I took 2 religion courses w/ Jackie at U of C and she was amazing. It made me more inspired to take more courses on religion + sparked my interest for religion however I won't b/c she's not here anymore :( Tests and assignments are fairly graded. You have to attend lectures b/c she explains her slides in details that will be tested. Overall a gem.
Jacquelin was easily one of the best profs I've ever had! She cares about her students so much, is extremely knowledgeable, always available to answer questions and very approachable. She provides a clear outline of her expectations. You must attend class as her slides have questions and she answers them in class, but her lectures are awesome!
Jackie is one of the best profs Ive ever had at MRU. She is so funny and her lectures are amazing. Make sure you attent class regularly since she doesnt put some information on the power point. But shes extremely good with answering any questions you have and gives you lots of opportunities to boost your mark.
Death and the afterlife was a really interesting, and slightly dark, GNED and an easy A. She uploads all readings so you don't have to spend $ on books. Only 4 aspects to be graded on though, which i like. BUT beware, get a buddy so if you skip class you can get notes from them! No surprises on exam but it is verbatim from lectures!
If you attend class and actively listen to lectures/take good notes you will do fine. skip this class and you'll be in trouble for the tests. Great prof, interesting material and really enjoyed this class. If you show up, listen and try you will get a good grade.
I took 2 religion classes with Jackie and she is a real gem. She made my interest in taking more religion classes grow, I am sad she isn't here at u of c anymore :(( she posts slides but you definitely have to go to class as you has extra notes she discusses that will 100% be on tests. Tests are fair, gives us textbook qs beforehand to prepare.
She's super nice and a great prof. Her lectures were interesting and enjoyable. Most stuff she talked about, not on PP so showing up is suggested. Textbook was rarely used. Midterms and final were very easy. Loves using Kahoot and gives prizes. Super chill. Unbiased about what she was teaching which was great. Grade booster.
The best prof ever! Her teaching style I enjoy bc she uses a lot of visuals to clearly explain wat she's teaching. Show up to class so u don't have to read the readings and she also gives hints on the tests. I like how she does kahoot and u can win a prize when ur first place. She makes religion very interesting and it is not that hard to get an A+
The most caring prof I've ever had, she genuinely cares about her students and puts them first. She makes the content fun and lectures go by quickly. She also has creative ways of teaching. It's an easy A if you go to class and prepare for exams.
This is my second time having her, and she was amazing each time! Really cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. She's very passionate about what she teaches and makes the lectures enjoyable! Definitely the best prof I've ever had, and wish her nothing but the best!
Jackie is a great teacher! Her lectures are pretty heavy, she goes through a lot in one lecture. Class is mandatory if you really want a good grade. Her powerpoints only cover a little, most of the material will be covered in class and be written on the board. She does pop quizzes for extra marks on your exams! So be prepared.
BEST RELIGION PROF! If you can get into a class with her, please do, its LIFECHANGING. She is as best as it gets. super easy tests and very fun assignments. lectures are never dry, and best of all, you can tell that she is a genuinely nice person.
The world of academics is lucky to have Jackie. She wears her heart on her sleeve during lectures, which are of very high quality under COVID conditions, and she cares deeply about the success of her students. Her exams are extremely fair, be sure to listen intently during lectures and take good notes! Honestly a gem of a professor all around.
I loved this class and this professor more than the word limit will let me express. Class has two midterms and a final. She provides every opportunity to succeed with bonus marks and excellent study materials/ google meets. Truly a class that cares about what you learned, not memorization. The material is very interesting and taught with passion.
Jackie is amazing! I had her for a spring class and it ended up being one of the best classes I've ever taken. She is a wonderful person and she makes class so much fun!!
Jackie is amazing!! The easiest A of my life and I learned a ton from her narrated PowerPoint slides. Her classes are always full for a reason. She only grades you on a midterm a final and 3 sentence discussion boards. She also has Kahoots for extra credit and if you win first place she MAILS YOU A GIFT??!?! iconic, if her class is open, take it.
This is by far the easiest class I've ever done and I don't think it's close. The class is graded on a midterm, final, and discussion posts with opportunities for bonus marks everywhere. As long as you write what she says in the lecture PowerPoints down somewhere and actually contribute something to the discussions you'll end this class with an A.
take as many classes with her as you possibly can. I am sad that I only got to take 3, I would've done my entire minor with her if I could. She is probably the best prof at mru. Not exaggerating at all.
The course was worrying at first since it was based on three exams, but Jackie was absolutely wonderful. She balances the course load well, makes the material fun, relatable, and interesting, and wants you to do well. I would recommend anyone to take a class with her, this was my favourite class this semester by far!
Happy to admit she's a great person. But as a 4th year taking RELS 3333 because it was the most bearable of MRU's lacklustre list of GNED's, I didn't love it. Her slides have a million separate voice recordings which take forever to go through. She starts them with horrible music instead of just talking and repeats things she literally just said.
Jackie is one of my favorites profs. Her classes are all tests and you MUST show up to class and take all the notes in order to do good on the tests. She makes the lectures fun and interesting. Took 3 classes with her cause that is how much I love her.
Her PowerPoints are useful. However, you NEED to attend class. She goes in-depth, and her PP mainly covers the basics. She is easygoing, only marked on midterms, has no assignments, is easy to talk to, you have chances to gain bonus marks, be ready to type. Don't be afraid to ask for help. She is willing to help you. She is very nice and friendly!
jackie is the best rels prof ever. she makes it very interesting and has lots of opportunities to get bonus marks, there are moments where you could get 100% on her midterms. just show up to class and participate! she so amazing, especially if her classes are in person. miss the kahoot tests
jackie is an amazing prof and goes above and beyond for her students! so many opportunities for extra marks (yoga and tai chi lessons, buddhist temple field trips, making mala bracelets, kahoots). you have to attend class for the lecture material but she makes lectures fun and easy to digest. def recommend!
you NEED to attend class its so important for grades, not only that but it counts as bonus marks towards exams. This class was marked by 3 things it was only 3 exams so you have to pay attention in class other than that it’s a very easy class just write down what she talks about because she lets you cheat on the tests
I love Jackie's classes so much! The are only 2 tests & a paper but she's SO CLEAR about what to study for. Lectures are long but for 3333 they're super interesting. The final project is really fun & different to other courses, and her guideline makes it easy to do well. You have to put effort in, but there's lots of opportunity for bonus marks!
Jackie is caring, passionate, and fun. I have taken a couple of classes with her so far and I didn't love her online deliver; in person with her is much more fulfilling. She incorporates activies and field trips to enrich your learning. Lots of opportunities for bonus marks. Expecations are very clear and her tests are always fair.
Great lecturer. Make sure to take good notes. You will only get tested on whatever is discussed in class.
I had her for both 1103 and 110 she made both classes super interesting. long tests, but if you go to class and participate you'll be fine. the kahoots are fun they're also future exam questions! She's amazing she's not out to get you to fail. also, the field trips were super fun so don't miss out
Amazing prof, the best I've had in my time at MRU. Need to show up to pass but after paying this much for school you should be showing up anyways. Would not recommend handwritten notes, unless you write crazy fast. Lots of info but always done class early. She makes it a super fun experience and gives lots of chance for bonus marks.
I appreciated Jackie's caring, calm, intelligent demeanour. You can tell she genuinely cares about the well being of her students. She also really wants her students to succeed, and if you apply yourself, she sets every single student up for success in this class through study guides and straight forward lectures.
I absolutely love Jackie! She is such a sweet prof and she makes her lectures extremely interesting. This course was incredibly easy, and focused on Egypt, Tana Toraja, Day of the Dead, Islam, etc. Does kahoots at the end of each class for extra credit, and if you show up to the field trips you'll get extra credit as well. This class is a must take!
I LOVE JACKIE! I took this class because I needed an elective and thought it looked mildly interesting. Jackie made it so incredibly interesting that I was actually excited to attend class! Lots of opportunities for extra credit. There's only one big project but it was so exciting and fun to complete that it didn't feel like homework at all!
Such a fun class taught by a great teacher! Would definitely recommend!
She is one of the best profs that I have at MRU! Give lots of opportunities for students to get higher marks and always make lectures so interesting. Attendance is important cause you will have to take lecture notes by yourself. Very understanding and easy to reach out to when students need help! Recommend this class if you need extra credits.
AMAZING PROF!! She's so sweet and gives so many opportunities for extra marks on the midterm and finals such as kahoots and jeapordy. You do need to come to the class for the notes but she pretty much gives you the questions of the test on the lecture notes. She makes class so much fun and I would 100% take her again. Tests are pretty easy as well.
Jacky was a wonderful prof, she was so nice and understanding. It took me first couple weeks to get used to her teaching style but there were always chances for extra marks. Her field trips were also super interesting and you'd get extra marks for that too. I am glad I got a chance to take a class with Jacky in my last semester.
I enjoyed her class. She does kahoots & activities that you get participation/bonus marks for. She's chill & overall a good prof. My 1 critique is how she does her slides. Most of the info she writes on the board, not on the slides. She also goes a bit fast. I had to change to typing on PC cuz of that. Other than that, it's a fairly easy class.
Jacqueline is an amazing prof. This course has the most fascinating subject material I've learned. The only thing is that she can go a bit fast sometimes and I would get lost trying to catch up. She is very clear on the criteria and topics she covers and gives great lectures.
one of the best profs at mru. finishes lectures quickly, an easy peasy A class. must attend lectures to take notes cause slides don't have complete notes. she tries to incorporate field trips and fun activities and gives extra marks for them. does kahoots, gives extra marks AND cool prizes for them. only gives few tests, genuinely cares. 10/10 prof
Jackie is such an awesome prof! You can really tell she cares about her students. This is a lecture-heavy class but she makes it fun and engaging by doing kahoots at the end of each lecture and giving away prizes. Her exams can be very specific but if you keep up with your notes then you should be fine. Overall, one of the best profs at MRU.
THE BEST PROF EVER! Jackie is so easy going, caring and very down to earth. She incorporates humor into the lectures along with many breaks. She wants to see her students succeed and gives out opportunities for extra credit for everyone! I had so much fun in her class and hope to get her again. 10/10 recommend if you want a laid back fun class!
Jacky is just great I couldn't ask for a better prof. Lectures are interesting and she keeps students engaged. Easy GPA booster and the class is actually fun. She's very understanding and cares for her students. I would take her again!!
Try to take as many religious studies courses with her as you can. I took RELS 1103 and 2279 with her this spring and summer and can't wait to take RELS 3333 next spring. Her classes fill up really quick so enroll at the earliest. Very chill professor, loved the field trips that she organized and overall a very laid back class. Loved the kahoots!
At first I didn't agree with all her 5 star reviews during the first week of class. I understand why now. She is very caring and understating. Graded by 2 midterms and final. I enjoyed her class and thinks she's a great prof! She gives extra credit if you attend the activities she plans (which are fun) U Need to attend class though, no readings.
AMAZING PROF! She tries so hard to make life for students as easy as possible. Just show up to class and you'll do fine. I couldn't recommend her enough!!
The best prof I have ever had!! Jackie is amazing!! S he is very clear about what is going to be on the exams, and quizzes. There is also so many chances to get extra marks. Very accessible outside of class and always willing to help. Could not recommend her enough!
Jackie is an amazing prof. She is so passionate about teaching and is always open to help you when needed. You can tell how much she cares about her students and what a kind person she is. The tests are easy as long as you study and attend her lectures, as the tests are nearly identical to what she discusses in class.
Jackie is amazing and teaches very well. She is very accommodating and actually cares. I found the course very challenging though. You may want to rethink if you're looking for a gpa booster. There are only 3 things you're graded on - midterm, final and funeral project; so be careful. It makes it hard to succeed since both exams are very hard.
fantastic prof. class is all about memorization and graded by few things. she is clear about marks and gives so many bonus marks for random things. clearly cares about her students. I love all the classes I have taken with her.
Jacqui is AMAZING. She always puts her students first and a great prof. Her lectures are always very interesting and the way she does it it super easy to listen to. She always has fun kahoots and jeopardy games before the midterm. Her study guides are very clear, it's easy to succeed in her class as long you show up and study HARD for the exams.
she is so amazing, I highly highly recommend taking a class with her doesn't matter which one. she is so organized and really clear about what will be on the exams. she's also such a caring sweet woman. best teacher ive ever had
easy to get along with, loves students and is very youthful in spirit. the only downside is that she hoards a lot of information and time crams wherein you don't have a breather. get ready to write from beginning to end of class every class without a break. she tests mostly on class and powerpoint content, not textbook which I like!
At first this class seems daunting as it was test heavy, but she makes it as easy as possible, with kahoots for bonus marks. the test themselves were pretty easy straightforward, and just from the notes. She is also extremely caring and understanding. I had made a major mistake in my project, but she allowed me to correct it without docking marks.
My seconde class with her, she's so great. Was only graded by a 50% midterm & final exam. Learn everything in blue text on her PPT and you will know the content. She is super chill and gives you time off before/after midterm + no classes last week. She does activites too for extra credit that are nice to attend. Showing up matters to learn material
I have taken three classes with her and have become her huge fan. She is highly inspirational and wants her students to succeed. Even though you have to follow through in her lectures, her delivery makes you get up and attend her classes. Gives bonus points as well.
Her teaching style can be pretty erratic and disorganized sometimes, but she's very engaging and passionate about what she teaches. Easy A if you show up consistently.
She is a nice person but I think she can work on her grading a little. Her PowerPoints are not very useful so go to class if you wanna know what's going on. Grades are only based on midterm and final which I hate.
She is inspirational, kind, funny, caring and wants to see her students succeed. For exam studying read everything in the PPT especially anything in blue, to fully understand material attendance is recommended. She is organized an clear of what to expect and lots of opportunities for bonus points either in field trips or KAHOOTS, class activities.
I don't usually write reviews, but I felt like I had to for this class. It was genuinely one of the most interesting courses I've taken, and Jacqueline was amazing. I'd definitely take another class with her if I had the chance. If you go through the PowerPoint slides she provides, it's pretty easy to do well.
Jackie is the sweetest, she really cares about her students and is down to help. Grading structure is 40% midterm and final, 20% quiz, so no assignments. If you don't show up to class you'll have a hard time passing because she doesn't upload full lecture slides. Simply study what's covered in class and you'll have no problem passing with an A.
I absolutely loved this class! The grade is mostly dependent on 2 exams but if you study the material, they're very straightforward. She does Kahoots in class frequently which is helpful with retaining the info. She cares about her students and her lectures are entertaining and often really funny as well. I would definitely recommend her classes
Jackie is honestly a good teacher, but her tests are brutal and memorization heavy on complicated topics. Her slides have no info, if you miss one class or slack on your notes for one day expect to lose at least 25% on the upcoming test. I ended up with the worst mark in my university career with this class. Would not reccomend for a GPA boost
