She's terrible. She is so educated that she can't talk "down" to the rest of us. She talks in circles and you walk away from her class with a feeling of total confusion and frustration.

i enjoyed mrs marn very much i would recommend her to anyone, she is a very sweet lady. her class is super easy though she may not be totally organized shes awesome GO MRS. MARN

I agree with the other poster, she sucks big time. This is a subject that I'm well versed in, but she made it unbearable, which is why I transfered out. Run for the hills if you see this name on your schedule. Better yet, run to guidance and switch it, Pronto.
She's pretty easy. If anyone thinks she's hard they're retarded. The only thing that sucks is that you kind of have to have a brain to figure out what she's asking for because if you ask her a question she responds but never answers your question. I mean NEVER. Otherwise she's alright.
I agree with most of you. This teacher is horrible to have. If you can, avoid having her at all costs. If you end up having to take her, The Best of Luck to You. She doesn't explain what she wants. She just expects you to figure it out. I would never recommend this professor to ANYONE.
Mrs. Marn was wonderful. She actually treats us like college students and not 3rd graders. She is also always there for you. I loved her class!

She was horrible. She talked down to us, her lectures are coma-inducing. She was very rude to my friend and I because we missed class over car problems, I have never had a worse experience with a teacher. If I were you I would avoid her as much as possible.
I love writing, she made it hard and very draining and really did not care to help me.
I found this professor to be a fine teacher. I think many of you forget that this is COLLEGE and it's meant to strech your minds a little. Not all professors are going to baby you and hand out the points, God forbid you have to do a little work :)
Professor Marn is very passionate about writing and literature, she is very specific and detailed oriented, however she is also very knowledgeable and helpful. If you do the work, and participate you will excell. I highly recomend her class, keep in mind those who are lazy, and not serious about their studies should not take her class. I enjoyed he
I find it funny that just because people don't enjoy this class that other people think they must be "lazy" or "not serious"...I for one don't mind a heavy work load, but I wouldn't reccomend this class to anyone unless they are shameless in the "sucking-up" category.

Does not really clarify assignments too well. I did well in her class only because of my ability to write good long papers in one night. I would not recommend this class to anyone who does not like writing.
I don't like this lady one bit. She's not clear in her assignments, she contradicts herself all the time, and she doesn't remember e mails you have sent her even if you print them out and hold them in her face. I have a strong B in the class so don't think this is a complaint of a slacker.
This teacher is daffy!!!! She says one thing and does another all the time. I'm just glad I only have to be in this class once a week.
I dreaded coming to it and she never kept track of absences and then at the end of the grading period she said that I had missed over three which I hadn't. Also she has no idea what she's doing on a computer. I wasn't graded for an assignment because she didn't leave the dropbox open for the amount of time she said she would.
I took this online, she dosent post assignments before hand and they are due like 3-5 days after they are posted. The assignments are very easy though.
this teachers is rediculous. she could care less about you and has and eerie fake cheeriness. she will not respond to emails, or even give them any attention. after sending 2 emails about a missing grade, and then talking to her about it, and then sending 2 more emails, a month and a half later, nothing. she makes comp boring when its not
Easy class, if you turn in your essays in a timely manner. Willing to help, but only if you follow her to her office. I agree with weird, fake cheeriness. Unclear about when assignments will be do, and what you are actually suppossed to write, along with the requirements. Limited teaching, relies heavily on somewhat helpful software.
I am surprised to see this instructor on the list. She is a horrible teacher. I had her 2 semester's ago, and had to switch instructors. I'm a straight A student, and this is a subject I'm well versed in, but she was unclear, and just plain horrible. She needs to go.

Very difficult to understand exactly what she's wanting from you. She teaches like we're going for a master's degree instead of an AA degree. Very hard class!!!

I am working on my third degree, and I took professor Marn last semester for Honors Comp I, and she was wonderful. I personally appreciate that she repeats (important)information because she is making sure we are "hearing, listening, and that we understand her requests." You get what you give in any class. I am taking her again for Honors Comp. II!
The assignments in themselves aren't difficult, but I find the teacher to be very difficult to understand. She doesn't make the assignments clear and you don't understand what's she's saying. She doesn't grade for weeks at a time and doesn't return emails in a prompt manner--and that isn't good for an online class.
She is a very kind teacher, however, her teaching habits tend to be unclear and disorganized throughout her lectures. This is a good class to take half online and half in class, to get the different interactions.
Worst professor I've ever had. Her lectures are confusing and you have no idea what to write about in a paper. She is never clear about what she wants from you and she repeats EVERYTHING she says at least three times in a row. I had to withdraw from her class. I do not recommend her to anyone!!
Wow, i cannot believe all of these horrible ratings. This class was one of the easiest classes i have taken. She does repeat herself, but that makes her directions VERY clear. This is college so yes there is a workload, but not a huge one. As long as you do the work and pay attention it is easy to get an A.
I took this class online. I am not a very good writer although you would never know it. Ms. Marn is a decent teacher and grades your work very good :). Ms. Marn does lack in the area of communication. You could go days without getting a response to a question and she grades VERY SLOWWW. Easy A if you take the time to do the assignments (write).
Online class. This instructor isn't very clear on what she is looking for on an assignment. Posts assignments due within a few days, but if you ask for help, she answers emails after the due dates. You then get penalized on assignment for not completing. Grading is scattered, hard to get your grades at all or help understanding them.
Teaching instructions are very unclear. Don't bother to ask her for help, she'll tell you to email her your questions but Don't bother emailing her either unless you don't want an answer for quite some time. Take half online, half in class--That way its just easier to teach yourself, Unless you want to sit in class and hear her repeat everything!!!
She would expect us to turn in assignments she didn't even assign, and then if you were late because of it, she'd get mad. She will not take any time to help you if you have questions, and the excuse is always the same. She'll say, "I have a lot of students." Not a good enough excuse.
I cant believe so many people had negative things to say about prof. marn. She repeated herself 2-4 times for emphasis. I was always cleara about her instructions. It was a challenging class, but this is college. She was very helpful as a teacher. she even recommended me to her honors class. I'm trying to get into her Comp 2 class.
I'm not sure what class the below rating took, but the class I took was not the same. Ms Marn was very helpful, very clear and gave you almost a week to complete an assignment. She even offered up assignments early so students would not have to work on them during the July 4th Holiday. Ms Marn was great, you just had to work - not that hard.
Teacher does not clarify what she wants. You will sit around like wtf wondering you're supposed to do and if you send her a message she will rudely tell you to that the assignments are readily available (when obviously they are not). Also, assignments will appear due without ever being assigned. Basically, she blows like a humpback whale..
Very nice lady. Absouletly LOVES english. Lots of work and very boring class but gives ample time for assignments and tests. Strongly recommend taking as a blended course because of how boring the class is.
Good professor. Provides solid feedback to her students, and explains the assignments clearly. Very much enjoys the subject material, and it shows. Not an EASY A, but not a hard course. A LOT of writing, and therefore a lot of time - it is a Creative Writing Course.
This teacher is not EASY! You need to attend class. Suggest taking a blended class mainly because of boring material. Tacher LOVES the english language and tends to repeat herself often. Overall very nice lady.
Ok, so a lot of people have said Marn is not clear in the assignment objectives... but this is not high school, you need to analyze and think for yourself. Life answers are not printed in black and white, and neither is true college course work. Marn is very nice, and provides grades within a week of submission. Also, assignments are well spaced.
Inconsistant with assigning due dates. This was an online class and not a face-to-face class. Attempted to dock student grades with assignments not assigned. Provided incomprehensable answers to questions regarding grades. If she is a teacherm she needs to TEACH, not just assign and grade assignments.

I liked Mrs. Marn as a person however, as a teacher she IS unclear and inconsistent. My son and I took her class together.I had to withdraw, he failed it. The rest of the class generally had the same conplaint. She is very FRUSTRATING to learn from. An expensive hard lesson we had learned.
I did fine with Ms. Marn. Mid-term exam and final were research papers, and you can complete each of them in a week because there is only enough time in the course to have a week to do the midterm and a week to do the final. That was enough time for me. She explained that a research paper allowed her to be more lenient than a multiple choice test.
Directions aren't always the clearest, but really try and you?ll be rewarded; essays may seem overwhelming, but doable if you don't wait till the last minute; courses require effort which should be expected when preparing to function intelligently in the world; you just might learn something and thank her later! I found professor Marns class to be a breath of fresh air when it came to online classes. She was helpful and responsive, and a few of the assignments were creative less than just regurgitating information.
She is extremely unclear and unhelpful. She is a unfair grader and dosent answer questions. I was interested in comp until i took this class, she has caused me to no longer be interested in this subject. Do not take this teacher, I did not learn one thing, and it was a waste of time. I recieved a high B but it was miserable.
If you enjoy long class periods of confusion, followed by 5 minutes to complete lengthly assignments. That you will receive no input on if you request it. THEN THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU! I would gladly jump off a bridge before I suffered through another second of this teacher. If you can even call her that.
What a great teacher! I had her for Comp I AND II. Both classes I got an A. Do your papers and you will pass. I always enjoyed listening to her speak. She was awesome!!
Very nice teacher, very clear on what she wants, and will answer any questions. I took her actual class (not online) which was a short lecture and then time to work on the assignment due at the end of the week. Pretty easy if you follow her directions but if you don't be prepared to get major deductions. Highly recommend!
Interesting class, but teacher is really mean. She doesn't accept any work late, even if Angel messes up and doesn't submit your paper properly. I don't recomend her for anyone.

Really sweet lady but kind of scary at the same time. Doesn't really explain her expectations well but will repeat things over again multiple times. Really has a passion for writing which is always important for a teacher. Takes a long time to grade papers.

I'm so surprised for the low rating. Took her during summer. I thought she's easy and tolerable. I followed the schedule for each assigned work and received an A every time. She gives feedback for each writing assignment . I'd say easy A.
Took her online creative writing class. It was really easy. She is really helpful and gives great feedback. If you do the assignments on time and write meaningfully you will get an A in her class.
I took this class in 2005 and I had signed up for the in class and somehow I ended up with the blended. There were assignments due all hours of the day including sleeping hours. Maybe things have changed since it has been a few years but I still would not recommend taking this class if you care about your GPA
I took Prof. Marn for online ENC1102 during the summer. This was my first online class and I really enjoyed it! She's a very easy grader and I liked the clarity of her assignments and the presentation of them online. Most of the class is writing assignments with 2 big ones and the rest are 300 word essays. I would do it again!

I took her online. She's inconsistent with the amount of work, and her instructions are extremely unclear. The instructions, notes, and all the other folders are very disorganized. I asked for help via email and I didn't get responses until 3 days later; so with work being due every week, you can see how much time is wasted until help is received.
I took Professor Marn's class for Comp I and loved it! She is excited about teaching and helping each student improve their writing skills. I wish I could have taken her class for Comp II!
I took her course for both Comp 1 & 2 & Creative Writing & American Folklore. All assignments due no later than next Sunday night.Well prepared & gets back w/you in no later than 2 days. All my classes were online.Fair but relatively easy grader. Highly recommend her & suggest you communicate with her via email for better grades.I give her 4.85/5
I found her to be wise, kind and quick as an instructor. You can ask for help or extra credit to kick up your grade. I considered it a fairly easy A and would recommend her.
Very vague with instructions not helpful. She only has a few assignments so there's not much to grade. Very Boring. I wouldn't recommend her. She's nice but doesn't really teach. She has quizzes that she doesn't go over at all. 1/5. Terrible teacher.
I would not reccomend.Alot of work.Well,if you do assignments it's not too hard, but she is not clear in instruction or pretty much anything. I was often very confused. She can also be a bit rude. I wrote her an email, and she said "it was too long to read". And I came to her after class, and she said she has places to be, and to come before class.
I take back what I said before, it was during the middle of the semester, and grades were slow, I was ill tempered. Overall she's a good teacher, you'll get an A or B by simply by doing all your work and assignments. The class is somewhat boring, but you do learn.
My main reason for attending college is to improve my writing skills, as I wish to write novels. Professor Marn's class turned out to be the worst class I ever took - and I got a 100% A in the class! The professor hands out A's but does not grade anything. You do not know how or where you need to improve - and if you ask a question, she is rude!
Took online Comp. 2. Material is not interesting to me at all but still got an A. I hate literature and writing papers!! Proff. was very helpful, there no way no way I supposed to get an A because I missed a quiz, but she gave me an A anyway. Text book is used a lot... at least for online class. Recommended!!

This teacher is the worst i ever had... she emails late and messes up on dates, i wouldn't take this teacher at all she is nice and all but she can't explain very well i wouldn't recommend anyone to take her class for comp 1 or comp 2.... definitely wouldn't recommend her
Great Professor! I have taken her for three different courses because I knew she was easy to understand and I knew how she graded and her assignment policies from the first class. She is willing to help if you are willing to try. Assignments are lengthy but doable if you put in the time and effort.
1st, I had no idea there were MyComp assignments due. 2nd, there is no grading rubric or outline of assignments. The instructions are unclear for assignments, and when u get your grade back, there are no corrections made. Also, teacher hasn't graded a paper of mine for over a month, when I asked, she responded rudelt and didn't answer my question.
She is very nice and kind. She is willing to listen to you and help you out as much as possible

2000 word essay for midterm. I haven't gotten to final yet. She's very sweet and has a lot of life stories that she shares. I missed a quiz once because I forgot about it and she let me make it up. Quizzestests are take home, open note. She is a very easy grader. I hate writing essays but this class isn't that bad at all. Take her if you can
Dr. Marn is a kind, understanding professor who gives an adequate enough time to finish papers. I am in Composition 1 and the general length of papers are around 1500 words each and the midterm was 1800 words. The papers are generally not difficult, and she is helpful when you are stuck. I would recommend this professor for.
Not clear on assignments or what is going to be on the quizzes. She doesn't keep anything open in angel. she is however an easy grader but its just very confusing to figure out what exactly she wants and she doesn't respond to emails quick at all. I would not recommend her

Took her for Creative Writing, just do your assignments weekly and put time and effort into the class and you'll pass. Very nice lady and she tells you exactly what to do and the dropbox is in each weeks assignment. VERY CLEAR in what she wants from you!
Okay professor. Not tough by any means, just lagging in the communication department. Can come off a little impolite in messages but overall she is an okay professor. Unfortunately, each module opens up week by week (with the previous week closing) so you can't work ahead at all.
This professor is one of the toughest i have taken so far, she is a very nice lady she is an extremely tough grader, she assigns numerous papers throughout the semester, all long. Don't bother emailing her because when she finally does respond she will write "See me before class" rather then simply answer your question Gives 1-2 days for assignment
Well, she throws a bunch of random words together and calls it an assignment. With that said, I'm fairly certain she doesn't actually read any of the essays so if you don't understand the assignment just get it close and you'll get an A. If writing isn't your thing you may want to take her. FYI, I'd avoid emailing her, she can be really rude!!
She is very nice but the lectures are very hard to understand at times. You will need to email her if you have a question on the assignment. Test are hard only because some of the questions comes out of nowhere and appears nowhere in your notes!! AT ALL!! Not even on the book. Book: you do not need to purchase at all. She post links to everything.
Probably one of the worst professors I've had so far. She's very unhelpful when it comes to assignments, not to mention rude through email. Her assignments are lengthy and pointless. Get ready to write essay after essay and learn nothing.
She was very dry when lecturing, then would have an attitude if you asked her any questions during lecture. She also took it out on everyone if she felt not enough people were participating.
