She is a B*&%h! For real!
Take class 2times
Do not take this class if you do not like to attend class and expect to receive an easy A. If you study for exams and turn in all of assignments ON TIME then you can receive an A.She does not accept late work. I received an in Sowk 235 & 236.
Do not take this class if you do not like to attend class and expect to receive an easy A. If you study for exams and turn in all of assignments ON TIME then you can receive an A.She does not accept late work. I received an A in Sowk 235 & 236.
She pushes you to do your best and go over and beyond and not just do enough to get by, she helps you find out and discover your stengths and weakness. She's a great teacher
You love to hate her. She is a very good person to know. She is a motivator. She understands a student's incentive during regular interaction.
Ms. McArthur can be a difficult teacher to get along with, however, she does something that no other professor will attempt to do, she actually makes you think and become responsbile for your actions. She does not give in and with the money that students pay to attend Tuskegee, they should be thankful that a teacher is there to give them the tools
This class encouraged me to use my critical thinking skills but since I finished the class I have used the skills I learned in this class to impress professor in other classes.
She is one of the best instructors I had at Tuskegee. Honestly, I feel like any student that major falls in the social sciences and plans to attend graduate school NEEDS this class. I felt very prepared for my research programs at other institutions. I do not reccomend taking this class if you are lazy or think you can get over. Not happening!
She pushes you to work hard, and she wants you to be able to work together as a group first, then ask her for help. After being in her class I feel like I have learned a lot. I think she's a great teacher. It was rough for me at first but now I know I have learned a lot.
Great teacher. I learned a lot. Embrace her methods they do work. Turn in your work on time. Your time will need to be invested to succeed. It pays of on the end. Trust me.
This was by far one of the hardest teachers I took my entire time at Tuskegee. You will have a lot of work and you can't just turn in any old thing. However this is one of the only classes at Tuskegee that I can say I learned something that will be helpful to me.
Do Good Be Good ;-)
This class is one of the hardest classes that i had to take in my curriculum. The work load was really intense!!! Stay on top of your game. I had a daily to do list thats what helped me get the A i got. I DIDNT HAVE NO CHANCE OF SLACKING!!!!! I learned a lot in this course. :)
READ, READ, and READ! This course prepares you to be a self-sufficient student for life. Every question you can think of asking will be right in the textbook--literally. Late assignments are unacceptable and being on-time is essential. With that said, you can only do two things: fail or pass. I hope you choose the latter.
Great professor! She makes you earn your degree and the grade you receive. You will understand the true meaning of hard work after taking her courses.
Great class! prior to coming into the class students from previous classes would tell me how hard the class was. By mid-semester I later learned that those students who said that the class was hard and received low grades were the ones who did not put forth the effort. ready directions, stay ahead and you will be fine!
Great class. Learned a lot.
Ms. McArthur is one of those professors that will hold your feet to the fire and hold you accountable. No she will not hold your hand because you're grown. She teaches you to be responsible for your work. Stay ahead of your assignments and if you miss some don't get flustered just get back up and keep going. The point of the class is to power thru
The best professor I've ever had in my life! She challenged me. I love people who challenge me. Her clad made me realize that you have to work hard for an A! She's the most through professor I've ever taken. Love this lady and class.
While this class is challenging, it is extremely rewarding. The course load is this class is not to be confused with the effectiveness of Ms. McAuthur. The class load is large and pain-staking, but it isn't unreasonable. Ms. McAuthur is an excellent teacher who understands the value of research, accountability and tact.
This is technically an online course so you do not have to come to class, but it is advised. Do your work, don't try to make excuses or half do anything. Just do your work. She's not difficult, you have merely been accustomed to your mediocrity being accepted. You are learning more about yourself, your learning style and your drive.
Students should make sure to complete assignments earlier; otherwise, the assignments will sneak up on them and cause unnecessary stress. Learn her sarcasm.
This class was one of those courses you will remember in your college career. Large workload, extremely time consuming but you learn so much. Best advice to passing this class, if you dont understand it completely, at least put effort into doing the assignment. It definitely helps if you work with your classmates as well.
I have no remarks
Ms. McArthurs classes are not for everyone. She requires a lot and her course work can be overwealming. She honestly has students academic and professional development genuine/ best interest at heart. My advise to passing her courses would be to do your best to meet course requirement, and really care about social work.
Ms.Mcarthur is a very demanding teacher. In the end you will learn to love her becuase you really do learn. She is the hardest class for me and I love it!
The class was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. There is a lot of strenuous work which can be a little overwhelming at times but as long as you do your work, you will be able to receive a passing grade.
In the beginning this class was very stressful. As time progressed the workload gets less and less harder. Ms. McArthur is not someone to play with. Just do your work, no if, ands, or buts about it. If you don't do your work, you don't get a grade. She has no problem with failing you. Just do the work and do not procrastinate!
This class was not at all what I expected. I had got many reports from students that it would be an unbearable course but, in fact turned out to be the opposite. This course wasn't at all easy but as long as the work got completed I had no problems.
This class will definitely push you far past your comfort zone. If you are used to doing the bare minimum, then be prepared to take this class more than once to pass. The workload is extremely heavy but if you set personal deadlines to complete the work you will be fine. Excuses are not tolerated so don't waste your time.
The class wasn't that bad. Just do your work, don't wait until the last minute and follow instructions.
This course is by far one the hardest classes I have ever taken, however I do feel this course will help me in my field of practice.
This class is very tedious. This class has nothing to do with my major so I really don't understand why I have to take it. I am not going to use any of the techniques that I learned in class, after I graduate. Although I think this class is pointless for someone in my major, it has really made me appreciate deadlines and getting my work in on time
Social Work 300 is a rigorous class with a large volume of work. The class is beneficial because it introduces students to the application and utilization of SPSS.
She's a wonderful professor and she cares about students succeeding in her course. The class I took mainly focus on service learning and giving back to the community and she help me understand the reason why we should give back to the community. She's awesome and she cares.
Ahhh SOWK 300 , has definitely been the HARDEST class I have ever taken, but It has taught me so much disciple and I have learned how to prioritize myself, not only in this class but in my other studies as well. Thank you Ms. McArthur for being on top of us and always being there. #GreatTeacher
SOWK-459 a tedious course that's very demanding but very enlightening!
Very understanding, and i enjoy the fact that she wants up to learn and not fail her course!!!
The class can be very stressful at times but it teaches you how to manage your time better and do not wait until the last minute to do your work.
Very tedious professor and course. Must stay on top of assignments at all times. Way more assignments than necessary. Help from classmates is important because seeing McArthur directly does not clarify most questions.
This class requires a lot of concentration.
Too many unnecessary assignments are repeated.
This class was very interesting and I learned a lot about Google docs and graphing along with SPSS.
In order to pass this class you must purchase the textbook. As long as you get the work done early you will not stress and will pass. Although some of the work is repetitive it is not that difficult.
The teacher was unhelpful. The course itself was quite tedious and draining. It took away from time spent on other assignments and courses. It was required for my curriculum but not for my career so it was not very useful or helpful to me. I couldn't wait for it to be over because it was honestly the most annoying and stressful class.
It is a long road into Social work 300 land. Thank God I crossed those burning sands!
I found this course to be helpful in a number of ways. Although it required a lot of time and work, it helped in other courses and helped me to focus on completing assignments in a timely manner so that they were not rushed. In the end, I definitely appreciated the workload because I appreciate a teacher that wants you to learn than regurgitate.
This class was very useful, I learned how to create graphs and create surveys using different databases that gained my interest. I would sincerely suggest this course to any student that attends Tuskegee University. FYI: this class students must take serious if eager to pass
I hated this class. But it is helpful. The class does prepare students for their Masters Challenging but yet beneficial.
Her class is very tough and demanding. At times I thought about giving up. But in all honesty this class was annoying and I will be glad once I am done. At the same time I am also glad that I stuck with it, this has been the hardest I have worked all semester.
If you do not get together with your classmates to wok on assignments you are more likely to fall behind or drop the class. She encourages for us to get together so that we can ask each other questions about the assignment first and if we do not get it then we ask her. She encourages us to use every resource possible before coming to her.
Social work 300 is not really a hard class, but you have to stay on top of your work. Once you fall off then you will be stressed out. Some of the assignments are tedious but not very hard until about week 8. Week 8 till the end of the semester is horribly hard especially if you don't know how to use spss
In order to pass the class you will need to check blackboard everyday, do work and assignments ahead of time and not at the last minute, email if you have questions or go to her office during class time.
hard class
Be ready to STAY confused!
This class could be useful for collecting historical data, but it is a lot of work. It takes a lot of patience and time to get a good grade out of this class.
I love Ms. McArthur and this class was helpful beyond the course she taught me to be organized and to be punctual in all that I do.
Good person, horrible instructor. She will not sit down and help you, but she will direct you to the correct lecture or video to watch. If you do not understand something it is better to have a group of classmates that you meet with.
This class can be very confusing. You must stay on top of your work and ask questions.
This professor does not give clear distinct instructions for assignments, therefore the students have to connect the dots to complete assignments.
The professor is hard on her students so that we can learn to manage our time .
The professor assigns a lot of tedious assignments. These assignments aren't always clear as far as what to do, and they often become busy work. I believe the professor grades hard to help prevent with procrastination, but the class is extremely too much to take if it does not pertain to your major.
She is a great person and if you help yourself she will help you as well. All you have to do is show her that you are trying, and she will do her best to help you. However, the instructions for assignments are sometimes not clear and she does not explain in depth. The class should meet more often than we used to meet.
Deadlines Matter! The class is majority online; & there are very few face-to-face class meetings. You must do the week's work by the end of the week, or you will receive a zero. It is not good to procrastinate in this class, and you should start early on your work in order to be able to ask questions, because more than likely you will need help.
The class was challenging , it requires heavy involvement and constant focus. it is not impossible to pass but it requires a lot of time.
The class was hare merely because of the volume of work. This class prepares you to have a work ethic and be committed.
This class proved to be helpful to me as a political science major. I have learned to have better time management and focus throughout this semester.
I have enjoyed taking this class. Even though it was online I was able to talk with the instructor on Go To Meetings which provided clarity on assignments and was overall beneficial.
She always answered emails if not immediately, there was a response with in 12 hours.
She is a tough grader, but as long as you follow directions your grade will resemble that. she gives a multitude of extra credit.
Very time consuming but not very difficult.
This class was very interesting. It is all about time management and pacing yourself, because there are a lot of assignments, discussions, and projects. Learn how to use SPSS because your grade depends on it.
The class was somewhat difficult and required a lot of time because there are many assignments. Directions were not always clear and getting help was difficult so this class definitely teaches you to work independently. The computer software program is must!
This is a challenging class. However, if you just read and FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS you will do well!
This class was very challenging at first because it was the first SOWK class that I've had that required so much work. I've never had so many assignments and projects due within the same week before. The class requires you to manage your time and to stay focus all the time.
Mrs. McArthur is a professor that expects the most from her students. She does not accept excuses which is a good thing because it forces students to be accountable for what they do or don't do. This class taught us many things related to social work, but it has also taught us about time-management and being responsible.
A lot of homework, manage your time.
Just know the class is tedious. Don't fall behind.
She is very sarcastic, but once you get past that she is very sweet.
She will work with you but only if you work with her. Do not stress out, it will not help you. Do not cry she will not join in your pity party.
There is a LOT of work but if you just buckle down and get it done, you'll pass.
All of her classes are very in depth. While there is a lot of information and assignments , you are still able to gain knowledge on the subject and expand what you already know.
This particular course is very challenging. If planning to take this course be sure to always as for help, be dedicated, well rounded, finish work on time, attempt as many assignments, and most importantly ask for help! Although it is a very challenging course, its also possible to pass.
Have to do work
You must login consistently to stay up to date on assignments.
do your work early
class can be very hard but if you put in the effort you can make it
This is a class where you have to put effort if you want to succeed.
She is a hard working teacher who likes hard working students. Respect her, she is a great person to have on your side.
I tried hard in 300 again this was my second time taking it.
She's a great professor! The class is really in your hands not in hers. Do the work and turn it in on time as in ahead of the deadline! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!. Don't think about skipping assignments either. This isn't your regular social work class. But she knows her stuff so take advantage of her!
Ms. McArthur's class is not hard, if you know what you're doing. She grades certain assignments like you have been using Social Work tools all your life. She does not give specifics on what is wrong with the assignment she just sends videos as if that should help. It doesn't. She usually doesn't know what she wants until it's turned in. Good luck.
INSTRUCTIONS AR NOT ALWAYS CLEAR. DOES NOT GO INTO VERY MUCH DETAIL. RESPECTED PROFFESOR THOUGH.
Ms. McArthur is not the easiest teacher, but she is good at what she does. The class is really a self taught class. Do the work and turn it in on time as in ahead of the deadline. This isn't your regular social work and computer class. You will work extra harder in this class.
This is a challenging course however I think Ms. MacArthur is a good professor and means well. If you stay in the course all the way through you will learn something about SPSS software and how to conduct research
I liked the course because it gave an insight as a whole.
I liked it in general it was very informative.
This class will make you better. You will sharpen your organizational skills, research skills, ability to work with SPSS and you will learn things you did not expect to learn. At the same time, this class can drive you crazy. It has what at times seems like superfluous assignments, and many, many deadlines. Overall, I'd recommend this class.
it is not wise to miss any assignments in this class
Your success in this class depends on how hard you're willing to work.
I probably would never take this c lass again BUT I learned a lot. Mrs McArthur is a very hard grader but her class taught me a lot about policy and following them that I took with me to my new job. her class is similar to corporate America and I appreciate it. Lastly she will work with you but you have to work with yourself first.
This class was very taxing.
Do the work and do not wait until the last minute. You'll be fine.
Great Teacher!
She is a good professor, and she expects a lot from us because she knows we are capable of doing the work. She does give a lot of busy work, but it does have a lot to do what we were doing at the time, and does cover upcoming topics. I enjoyed the class, and my classmates. It was stressful, but was a good experience.
This instructor expects everything you do to be near perfection straight out of the gate. A lot of work is given in this instructor's class, mostly busy work, but some assignments are really difficult. She means well and hopefully wants the best for her students. However, there is a such thing as being too harsh. Overall, she's a good teacher.
I feel that the technology is used to make the course easier for the professor. Video lecture are often out dated, because instructions are updated often. The materials are redundant. Upon request of further clarity, students are accused of not reading materials or "over-thinking" things, instead of answering student question directly.
Her class, admittedly is useful. However, her approach to teaching could be altered. She grades very hard, even though there is a good chance that you can go back and correct it. One thing that definitely needs work, is that many of her assignments are due over the weekend, but she doesn't want to be bothered on the weekend. We work, you work.
a lot of tedious work everyday. tough grader. barely gives you any guidance or assistance in or out of class
Professor McArthur's class is very hard, but if you have good time management skills you will pass. The work is very heavy and very stressful. It seems like it never stops so be prepared for that.
In specific, this course is take a lot out of your as a student but once you break everything down to one. It is important to make sure your read all the information and follow direction when referring to the different exercises and assignment.
McArthur really makes you work for your grade. Contradicts herself throughout the semester so hard to tell what is actually needed to complete an assignment. Does not answers questions directly. Nice when she wants to be. All around sarcastic nonstop.
Some work was very simple (do not overthink) while others was complex and time consuming. The professor is somewhat helpful but seems to enjoy being difficult. She grades very hard. Even when you think you did well, you can make a 50-75 on EVERY assignment.
Professor McArthur, is a teacher that will keep you on your toes. She teaches you how to critically think and become your own teacher and leaner. If you like to be challenged and put in quite a lot of work than she is the teacher for you.
The major key to this class is to do your work. It's a lot of work, and is very time consuming but just do it. Attend class and show Mrs. McArthur that you care about your grade and you should be fine. Also, working together with your classmates will save you a lot of trouble !
Jacqueline McAuthur expects everything you do to be near perfection straight out of the gate. A lot of work is given in this instructor's class, but it very hard to fail her class. You should make sure you do all you work on time and you will be fine . overall she is a god professor to take, she the type that make you work hard for your grade
Time management is big in this class! Ask for help and everything will be fine.
Great professor. There are a lot of assignments assigned in this class but you should be fine with proper time management. Attendance in this class is necessary because she offers help and guidance on assignments during the class sessions. Overall, it was a great class and I enjoyed this professor!
