Great lab instructor. A MD; she always relates stuff that is important in real-life. Funny. Really wants you to learn this hard stuff. Gives a quiz every week: forces you to learn in small chunks instead of just before the test. Explains it all, then lets you figure it out again and guides you/shows you individually. Highest possible kudos.
She doesn't like you if you don't know your stuff. She doesn't even bother showing you the cadavers, you have to learn EVERYTHING on your own. She is an MD, so some of the things you have to learn isn't what all the other labs have to learn. I recommend Johnson
prof pal is a GREAT GREAT teacher. the lab is fast paced but she gives the information very clearly. she tells it like it is. Very fun prof and VERY helpful. shes there for her students as LONG as they put in the time and effort to learn the material! great great teacher! i recommend her to anyone wanting to learn anatomy from a prof that cares.
Dr Pal knows her stuff!!!! knows where EVERYHTING is on the body and is willing to help when asked and very approachable. She's hard, but the lab is hard and there is no getting around it, don't leave your studying for the last min or else your screwed. Study hard for the quizes and it will really help you no joke.
Very good professor, and very helpful in learning anatomy. Very approachable with anatomy lab material.
She is a picky grader!! talks very fast!! second test is very long and hard. You really, really hava to know your material to do well in her class.
She was not very helpful when it came to lab, yet expected you to learn everything from your classmates who were also confused. Very picky grader and has favorites. Become a favorite...no problem. Otherwise GOOD LUCK!
Ha, good luck. She just rambles in lecture.. Assigns homework each week. Passes out 'drug lists' to know which are very detailed and impossible to memorize. Tests are hell. Good luck with those. She is a picky grader on assignments, tests, extra credit. Oh and she put our class on a diet for two weeks. Who does that?!
A very intelligent woman, and very fair too. She expects a lot, but she is far from being unreasonable. She does talk fast and uses medi-speak, but you'll find that it will help you pay closer attention and learn about the jargon. It's funny that the girls that complain the most about her talking fast are the ones browsing the internet in class.
Good Luck! This teacher is not easy. She talks very fast and is hard to keep up with. She uses a lot of medical jargon so be sure you're fresh on that before you start her class. You'll be better off taking notes from the book than from her lecture. Probably the stingiest grader I have ever had. I have a 3.5 GPA and I got a D in her class
hope you get into the basic program guys!!! this class consumes you... eat, breathe, drink, sleep, patho...patho patho patho
i learned alot. but i'm still having nightmares of her and that awful diet she made our class go on.
the class was a lab, so you cant complain on her level of ease, cus the tests are the same. Only advice,,, crash other labs at all costs, its your tuition and your time, so make the best of it! I got an A for making that xtra effort...
The previous 3 ratings must be written by the same person -- who didn't bother staying in class and didn't listen. Dr. Pal is great; helps all the time; points out easier ways to remember structures & locations. Ask questions and take advantage of her knowledge to get an A. Even Dr. Kelly says her labs get the highest grades!
She's seriously not as bad as ppl have said. If u utilize the class period and try 2 drop in other labs u should do fine. She talks kind of fast but u'll only miss what she says if ure not paying attn. so just PAY ATTN. anat lab is hard to begin w/so there's no shortcuts u can take, just study the pictures and take ur time w/ the cadavers.
For all those complainers out there. you guys are just weak sauce, and can take the time and try to learn. Cmon guys its anatomy,,,, all you do is look as the bone/body and memorize it. I got an A in her class easily just by doing that! but i do suggest crashing other labs to get that additional memorization down.
MD and fascinating lectures. Excessive girl talk style. I'm a hi output, low input guy, so fast talking girl talk is like listening to cars from a freeway overpass. ..whooosh... I'm a fast note taker, but ...whoosh... so I recorded her.. the loudest who adamantly complained before want copies now saying, "good stuff!" I listen@gym. yep I know my s
Had her for patho and pharm. Amazing teacher. Really cares. Very smart and wont dwell on deep physiology that is irrelevant. Group homework in patho is helpful for thinking clinically. Tests contain many essays, especially in patho so make sure you know the topics well. She talks fast but you wont notice by the end of the semester. I loved Dr. Pal
super hard class, lots of drugs to remember. pal works with you to help you out. she's a good teacher.
This class is very hard and very time consuming. I had her for both pharm and patho and i studied for her tests a week in advanced. Keep up on the readings. She has a bad rep, but she's extremely smart and one on one she is extremely helpful. You'll learn a lot, just don't fall behind.
k.. so when i first started, she talked super fast and i couldnt get everything down. but i just started highlighting in my book cuz she talks straight from it. KNOW YOUR DRUG CARDS front and back = probably 75% of her tests! dont ask stupid questions, she'll brush you off. She's super nice one on one in office. oh and uh, i got an A. =]
shes ok... talks fast and goes through the bones too quickly. makes you feel stupid for asking questions or for clarity on bone parts.
Horrible, inconsiderate, and apathetic!
HORRIBLE! very inconsiderate. and as said many times below... makes you feel STUPID!!
Think of the worst teacher you could imagine... that person would be Dr. Pal. Teachers are here to teach and if the whole class is not doing well, this reflects on the teacher's teaching abilities and not the student's abilities to learn. She avoids you and your questions like the plague. She is a stingy grader and has no passion for teaching!
She does not care about students as people. She will flunk you despite knowing you will be kicked out of the nursing program. Her poor teaching is reflected in the low test scores. Also, just because you do well in the class does not make her a good teacher. So for the previous positive entries, you guys don't know what you're talking about.
She has no common sense at all as a university professor. She gives your tests back in the order of test scores. Plus, she brings candies/prizes for those who scored well on quizzes. This idiotic teacher treats her students as if they were kindergardeners. She likes to keep teacher's pet, and if you're not one of them, she'll ignore & humiliate you
I agree & empathize with all these people especially who have her for nursing classes. She's mean and rude to her students. Yes if you're her teacher's pet she'll spoil you and if you're not, she will embarass you and put you down if you're struggling. take those nursiing classes she teaches at a community college--girls it'll save you the tears!!
its simple. take a different teacher. you will regret it if you don't listen to what all these people are saying... if you take her, just prepare to do some of the most intese studyin youve ever done... cause you wont pass otherwise... 350 pt tests. lecture doesnt correlate w/ lab. too much for a non-major class.
way too extreme--there were 2 patho classes this was the extremely hard side while the other class was extremely easy. she shows no compassion if you fail out of the nursing program. one thing i found completely useless--she liked to place emphasis on topics such as impotence and race, does a great job in making you feel so uncomfortable in her cla
failed
anatomy is a hard class. professor Pal is not harder nor easier then the other anatomy teachers. there are 5 exams and she drops the lowest test. her exams are fair. it is literally on everything she goes over in class, so go to class if you want to do well.
At first, I was scared based on previous comments, but she's not mean nor does she make you feel stupid. She's actually very nice, funny, and helpful. Record the lectures. Learn to listen because it becomes obvious what will be one the test. Also skim sections in the book that was covered in class.
READ EACH CHAPTER ATLEAST 3 TIMES for a B or higher. No curves or study guides. Makes offensive jokes sometimes. Enough said.
Hated Pal's class. She seems smart when it comes to pathophys but the workload she gives us in the nursing program is SO unrealistic! We simply don't need to know all that crap when we become RN's. STUDY EVERYTHING! she told us not to worry too much about ABGs and the exam was 40% ABGS. DON'T SLACK OFF! GOOD LUCK! you'll probably need it.
I took her for pharmacology and i dont know why she teaches it because i think she hates it. By far the worst teacher i have ever had. Not only is the class extremely hard, she is not helpful in the least and makes fun of you if you have any questions.
If you do not know how to study study in a time limit, you will fail her class. Her class is ridiculous, your better off taking it somewhere else at a community college like Golden West. You bascially have to learn everything yourself. You are NOT allowed to record anymore, and NOT allowed to bring your laptops. if u fail, ur out of the program.
ATTN CSULB NRSG STUDENTS: TAKE PHARM & PATHO AT GOLDEN WEST! Dr. Pal means well, but her classes are the MOST challenging courses, EVER! I thought I was smart and could get an A or B in any class, but I ended up with Cs in both, and was grateful! Even with studying 12+ hours per test, don?t expect an A. The program is hard enough the 1st semester
Prepare to study alot. I was one of the fortunate ones that took pharmac over summer. This was the only class I had time to study for...I probably put in about 18 hours a week and 12 hours the day before a test. I got an A but it was the hardest A I've ever had to work for. In the end I learned a lot but it gives me nightmares to look back.
well it is very crucial you go to all classes, because there is alot of material. this class is hard, but possible to pass. i got a B. (my friend got an A). you do need to study, there are 5 tests total. (1 every two weeks). Plus the LAb class. (study for lab too).take very good notes, and read the book and do the answers in the back of the chapter
I have never failed a class before this one. If you are not a science major, I don't suggest taking her. I WAS a 3.5 student, and I only passed 1 of her 5 exams, and hers is the only class I studied for all semester. She made me want to drop out of school.
Run Away. This is why former MDs should not teach NRSG classes. For those of you with no other choice: 1)Prior to class print her lect. notes and focus on those topics as you read the chapters. 2) as you read, add detail to these notes as if your life depended on them. Makes lecture actually useful. got A- with ~8hr/wk of heavy study
HORRIBLE! She is the WORST BIO teacher i have ever met in my entire life. dont take her class during summer. i have never failed any BIO class until i took her this summer. TEST EVERY WEEK AND QUIZZES EVERY TIME U COME TO LAB! MY GPA is SCREWED because of her class.
Getting an A/B is definitely possible. STUDY STUDY STUDY! I could've tried harder but took the class CR/NC. I recommend doing the same to students taking it for a GE. She's sooo smart and extremely straighforward with material (moves fast!) which is what gets people bc were not all geniuses like her! This will probably be the hardest GE you take.
your best bet is to record her lectures. the tests aren't ridiculous, but she does ask stuff that she maybe said only one sentence about. read the book along with her notes. she doesn't curve so you better be prepared to work your butt off. also, she can be rude sometimes, but brush it off and keep going back for help.
I took her class over the summer for 6 weeks & managed to get a B. It's not impossible, but it's definitely not easy. Whatever you do, don't ask questions consistently in front of the class--go to her office hours, she's much nicer there. Quiz every week, but no cumulative during summer (way better). Study beyond the book and you'll do fine.
hardest GE class ever. failed even though i read each chapter multiple times before each test. take another teacher.
Had her for anatomy lab. Take someone else. You have a better chance of that teacher not putting you down when you answer questions in class out loud.
I was scared to take this class after reading all the reviews, but really, it's not that bad. Dr. Pal can be condescending, but she knows her stuff and can be funny too. She's very aware of students' daily lives. Just don't be afraid to look stupid once in awhile, and ask questions. Get on her good side. STUDY a LOT. An A is not easy but possible.
Lots of "a & b only" "none of the above" "all of the above" type answers on test, so know your stuff.
Dr. Pal knows her stuff. She's an MD. I only had her for lab, but wish I had her for lecture too. It's not impossible to get an A but you have to work for it. Ask her for clarity and she'll give it to you. Impress her with your drawing skills! She has a sense of humor & understands the lives of young adults. Could be a lot worse.
DR. Pal is a great teacher. Expects a lot from her students but is willing to help. She prepares you for the test but if your dont prepare yourself then you wont pass. This is a hard class regardless of who you take it with but I would recommend her.
She's a really good professor. Provides you with everything you need to known in class lectures. take good notes and study those and you will do well. i learned a lot and she is really funny too
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!! i read reviews prior to enrolling, but thought all of the negative ones were just people upset with their grade. didnt realize dr pal really is insanely condescending, & even if you try you will fail. im an A & B student, been at csulb for 5+ years, studied harder than ever & STILL failed. go with your gut, RUN WHILE YOU CAN!
easiness = negative all the way to the core of this planet bombed and hit mars. good luck, you will need it.
I took this course over summer and it was the hardest science class I ever took. The amount of a information they expected us to memorize was ridiculous. They had no mercy on us. I seriously studied every minute of the day and i still ended up with a C. I am usually a A student....so go figure.
I took Human bio with this teacher over summer lecture with Dr. Pal and a lab with a grad student. I studied every second of the day and got a B, only 7% of class got A's 20%-B so most students did poorly! She does not post study guide or give any help with studying for tests, she is stuborn and unfair, though it got alittle better as time went on.
taperecord, listen 2 or 3 times every lecture and you get a
Pal is a hard teacher. She doesn't give out notes, power points, and talks really fast! But she does care for the students by not consistently spoon feeding every question to her students. Her lectures are quite funny and are very interactive. 90% of her tests are in her lectures that she continuously emphasize. It's not too after the 1st test.
Taking it during the summer right now, great teacher knows her things, but she goes super fast when lecturing. It will take you sleepless nights to get through all the information they want you to learn if this is your first time taking a 200+ course.
She knows her stuff the only problem is she talks super fast. She is very helpful and understands her students have lives. She likes to say random stories that keep you interested in the material. If you've never taken a Bio class before I suggest not to take Pal if you're hoping for an A.
If you want an A do NOT take this class. Getting a B is very doable but getting an A is nearly impossible, especially in the summer. If you cann't drop out, record her lectures and LISTEN to it multiple times. Read the details from the book as well. Lab was pretty difficult but it gets fun as you go along.
This is the worse teacher I have EVER had. Biology is a hard subject but she does nothing to help you. Lectures are useless, she talks so fast you can't even keep up. If the class doesn't understand the material, she rolls her eyes and makes you feel dumb. If you love guessing games, then you will love her tests since she provides NO STUDY GUIDE!
She will say whatever is on her mind. She tends to go off topic but is entertaining. Very important to surround your life entirely with nothing but anatomy. Don't take during summer. 5 chapters/week with a test/week will kill. Tests are often "all of the above" and "non of the above" type. She doesn't curve unless to save you from D to C.
I do not recommend this professor! I had her for lecture AND lab and dreaded going to lab. I think she has unrealistic expectations and the lab quizzes and tests were a nightmare. Do not take this class with Pal unless you're cool with her making you feel like a tard and enjoy multiple choice exams from hell.
Had her for lecture. Most useless hour of class I've ever had. Learned so much more in lab with a different teacher and got an A in it. Got a B in her stupid lecture tests so I ended up getting a B in the class. Worthless lecture that doesn't help.
She will make it challenging for you. She wants you to look everything up in the book especially if you have a question. She has an ego, so be careful. Occasionally before exams, she comes around w/ a bowl of smarties & dumb dumbs. If you really honestly put in the time and absorb info well, you should be able to pass.
Her first test was the hardest. So many people dropped toward halfway through the semester that she started to grade easier on the tests. Even then, I still found it difficult. I learned more from reading the summary at the end of the chapter than actually reading the chapters or listening to her lectures. I recommend a different professor.
It is not Dr.Pal that is hard...Anatomy is hard itself...if you go to the lecture and record the lecture and pay attention you can easily get a B. She is hilarious. I never went to office hours..but she is one of the best professors I have had.
She's honestly not that bad. She's a great professor and is pretty funny if stick through till the end. The subject itself is hard. Try even better than your best. READ the book! STUDY for exams AND lab exams! It's best to study with a partner!
I got an F on the first exam and ended up with an A in the class. After the first exam you quickly realize you have to study A LOT more than you'd expect to get a good grade as her exams are tricky so you must know your stuff. The lab is very easy so make sure you do good there because it really helps your grade. she's not that bad!
She is a really hard professor! I studied day and night and ended up with a "D" She doesnt give students study guides for tests or power points to study! She talks kind of fast and her expectations from students are too high. Anatomy is a hard class and taking this professor doesnt help at all. I recommend not taking her!
DO. NOT. TAKE. HER. Her expectations are unrealistic and it is nearly impossible to get a passing grade. The questions on the exams are not in the textbook OR in her "lectures," which are just her showing pictures and belittling students. I studied my behind off and still failed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Even with the ratings this professor had, I took her for the summer. Her tests are very tricky, but it helped that she gave online components, readings, and the lab to make it easier to understand. She's honestly NOT hard at all, you just have to study. Overall, she's a great professor, she knows her stuff.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. SOOOO EXTREMELY RUDE when you go to her for help & she makes you feel stupid. She speaks condescendingly esp if you ask questions in class. Yeah she may know her stuff but she is not worth taking. Got a D & I studied a LOT.
the class is very hard, but not impossible. you have to study ALL THE TIME. got an A in lecture, lab was the hard part for me because there is a lot of memorization and the cadavers make things harder since you can only study them in class. she does want you to succeed, she had tons of built in extra credit on her tests
When it comes to people failing this class, it's definitely not the teachers fault. She will tell you, in class, every piece of information you need to get an A. Record the lectures, study, and toughen up. If you are taking this class, chances are, it wont be the hardest thing you ever have to do. Take this teacher, she will prepare you well!!
Pal is great. She's entertaining , knowledgeable and extremely helpful if you take the initiative to ask for help. Yes the class requires work but it is a 4 unit science class.
Pal is an EXTREMELY smart person, but as a professor, I think she needs to be more balanced in terms of teaching style and self-learn versus lecture learn. The whole manual, you practically teach yourself and she tests your knowledge. Her style is very sarcastic. She IS difficult, but it does teach the students discipline, and self-sufficiency.
Seriously...Pal is a great teacher! Her power points are interesting and not too wordy! So you DO have to listen/take good notes. Maybe I just love bio, but she is the BEST science teacher I've had. She may be a little intimidating, just don't take it so personally! And if you're having a hard time, sit in the front, and try to be interested.
Def. not easy. She will make you figure out your answer for your questions. She gives out quizzes every lab meeting, and make you and your group mates look at models and the cadavers by yourselves in class. A little ppt before the group stuff. BUT her teaching technique is REALLY HELPFUL! She doesn't look very friendly but office hours are helpful!
DR. Pal is not easy, but you learn. I am an A student and I found her class challenging but rewarding. Helpful via email and in office hours
I was terrified to take this class but i had to take it. This class is very hard. Her tests are super hard BUT it is possible to pass it if you do your best in lab. There are quizzes in every lab but they are easy, mostly labeling stuff. If you get a good amount of points in youll be okay!
She can seem mean and intimidating in lecture but over email and one-on-one she is really nice! SHe's always offering to help people with their questions. THe class is really difficult but getting an A is possible you just have to put in a looooooot of effort.
At first I was scared to take her class over the summer because of everybody's comments. I think that she's OKAY. As long as you study prior each class. And the tests, I believe that it's both straight forward and tricky. you just have to understand the concepts and know the small details when she goes over during lecture. good luck
Class is quick-paced, which I knew and was prepared for. Got kicked out 1st day of lab b/c of pulling out my phone during BREAK. Ridiculed me in front of the class & made me leave. I'm an A student & took the course to learn & succeed but kicking me out for the day wastes my time. Dropped her class in a heartbeat and will never regret my decision.
You need to go to class and put in the work in order to do well. She is sassy and can seem rude in class. But she is also funny at times. Put in the work, study a lot, form study groups, read the book and you will pass. Her personality wasn't my favorite but wasn't the worst. You can pass this class if you work for it.
ANATOMY IS HARD, NOT DR. PAL! She's really straight-forward in class which makes her come off a little rude and mean. But if you go and talk to her one-on-one or through email, she's one of the nicest professors ever. Her class is really time consuming, so you would have to study your butt off, but its anatomy. Don't let the ratings fool you.
I really enjoyed Dr. Pals Anatomy class. Do not let the ratings fool you. She is straight forward so just follow the rules and keep up with the reviews she posts. The expectations she sets are high but they are attainable. I got a B in the class bc I studied my butt off. Just because she doesnt spoon feed you answers doesnt mean shes a bad teacher
Dr. Pal is a great professor! She is tough, but she is also so blunt it is hilarious. She gives so much extra credit to help with your grade too! The class is fast-paced but so what? Just study the PAL questions with some people in the class and you WILL pass.
This class teaches you how to study for college. It taught me how to really link subjects together and I'm proud to say I passed with a B. She gives extra credit all the time, so you shouldn't be passing with lower than a C. My midterm grades were C, F, B and then she gave me EC on the final and got a B. Its a hard course but worth it.
Yes, this class is very hard, but you must study and listen to her lectures. She is so blunt and hilarious, but a lot of students take her comments the wrong way. She is only there to help you out and if you go to her office hours, she will be happy to help with anything that you're having trouble with.
I took this class a little time back one summer. I'm currently in PA school where they expect you to know your A&P really well before you get there bc they don't have time to back over it! I can't tell you how many times I have thought back and been sooo thankful for the education I received from Dr. Pal. The difficulty is really for the best!!
I barely passed this class and it was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Dr. Pal was incredibly smart professor and she also teaches very well. I learned so many stuff in this class. She will give you a study guide for each chapter, and as long as you understand those, instead of memorizing, you will do fine on every exam.
This class is a lot of work and memorization, but that is not the problem. Pal is SO RUDE. Rudest professor I have ever encountered. So disrespectful and easily embarrasses students for incorrectly answering questions. Straight up mean person.
Teacher is horrible SO RUDE! Not helpful tells you how much you will fail! Class work a lot on your own memorizing, understanding, ect. Must know all material or she will make you feel stupid for not knowing.
I don't know about you, but probably the worst teacher on campus. But she understands people and lets them withdraw
Pal really enjoys teaching biology, and you can tell in her lectures. She makes sure everyone is engaged. Her attitude may not be sweet, but it'll push you to be a better student. Quizzes randomly, but it all helps to make sure you're up to date on studying. If you're not willing to devote a lot of time to the class, don't take it.
This is not an easy class to get an A in. There is a lot going on--mastering biology, lecture, and lab. She's a bit hard on her students but with good intentions. My test grades are C, B, A. There are 4 tests and they're non-accumulative. Study hard, read the book/powerpoints, look at diagrams and you should be fine. She also gives EC so do them.
BEST professor I've ever had. She wants her students to understand the material even if you're not a bio major. It's not an easy class but you will learn A LOT
Best teacher I've had yet. This class is definitely possible to get an A in. Just study the power points and do all the PAL questions. There is no surprises, all the information is given to you and the tests are surprisingly easy if you keep up with the material. Its a lot of studying and a big time commitment but completely worth it!
Not an easy class but worth it. I changed my major because of her. Just keep up to date with the Pal questions and study them, everything you need to know for the exams is on there. Definitely recommend taking her if you really want to learn and willing to put in the effort
This course suvives iff the labratory classes cuz thts where most if ur points r coming from and the labs r SUPER easy the lab quizes r based on the lab manual the homework is online there r 3 midterms and a final this class teaches you ALOT. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities too.
Make sure to keep up with the quizzes and PAL forms because they are helpful! She may come off as rude and unapproachable, but she is actually very nice and helpful. I learned so much in her class and I feel very lucky to have taken her class. Make sure to go to her office hrs for help if you need it!She also gives EC to help boost grades :)
Pal is straight foward either you do your stuff and study or you will fail. She is a great motivator and wants her students to succeed. 3 exams and 1 final, the pal notes she gives are basically the study guides for each exam. Attend class&lab and you will be fine GO TO OFFICE HOURS she is understanding! Do not judge her she is great lots of EC too
I'm about to be in the third week of taking Dr. Pal for summer school here. I don't get why the reviews are so bad. Dr. Pal is an awesome professor, if you record her lectures & do your work, this class is not even hard at all. Stop complaining about the professor, and start complaining about your own work ethic. 10/10 teaching.
Learned so much in this class! 3 tests, 1 final, lots of extra credit opportunities. READ THE BOOK or at least look at the diagrams! Pal may seem scary at first but she really wants you to learn, she puts a lot of effort into teaching this class and it requires a lot of effort from the students as well.
She's a great professor, granted but her lack of organization is what bothers me. She'll upload notes at midnight or early morning the day of lecture, and make last minute adjustments and it's annoying. If we're lucky, we'd get all notes posted the weekend before. If you're the type of person to do things last minute, you'll love her.
Pal comes off as rude but anyone with a brain can see that its her way of teaching. in the way that stand up comics have a persona teachers do as well. Pal is incredibly smart and regularly stayed past her office hours to talk about subject matter and science in general. read material before class and work on pal questions regularly
Dr. Pal was a really great professor. She may come off mean the first week of class but she is actually really funny for those who have a sense of humor. I thought she was brilliant and made a hard class doable with lots of commitment, focus, and hard work. This was my favorite class so far in my whole college career.Overall an excellent prof!!
Dr. Pal may come off rude but you remember material that way. Don't take if you're lazy and used to getting a grade /w no effort. Very smart and knows her material. Not for the weak. Sarcastic and has a sense of humor. Enjoyed her class, probably one of the best professor's I've had. Try and get to know her before judging. Put in time!!
Take her. The final is NOT cumulative. And that actually means a lot for this course since the amount of information you are expected to know is absurd. She is actually a great professor and is nice during office hours. She talks fast, so record lectures
go to class record everything write everything she says bc the ppts dont help except 4 the pics LISTEN WRITE EVERYTHING do the lab and memorize them the test is easy bc its just whatever she says took it over the summer and got an A always go to class do the lab a week before always put down notes on the lab manual on what the prof says
Dr. Pal is legit! She is sarcastic and blunt. Do your work, take notes in class, record her lectures, do the PALs because they help with studying A LOT and DO NOT FALL BEHIND. Study for the RAMs because they will help your grade tremendously. Tough class, but she made it kind of enjoyable. I have learned more from her than any other class Ive taken
Dr. Pal is a tough grader, but if you put in the time to study you will succeed. Even if you are failing the class she is there to help you and will! Do all the work to get as many points as possible! Review notes daily and slacking is not an option even for a day. She is an inspirational professor that loves ANATOMY and loves teaching it!
Hardest class i have ever taken in college. I did not pass the first time. i got a 55%. she makes it clear that you must have at least 25 hours+ set aside a week for just studying anatomy. Although she is a nice person, as a teacher, she is not the best. I strongly recommend taking this class at a community college and transferring the units.
Professor Pal is very sarcastic and blunt. But she makes the class interesting and fun at times. However, if you are not willing to dedicate serious hours to this class, I would pick another teacher. You have to work VERY hard for a good grade, it definitely doesn't come easy. Some extra credit. Do the PAL notes for each lecture, very helpful!
Anatomy is no joke. You have to put in the hours of studying to pass the class. There are 4 lecture tests w extra credit questions, and 3 lab tests (free response). For our semester, she was nice and gave lots of extra credit to boost our grades. Lab tests are tricky and cadaver questions will throw you off. Getting an AB is possible. Just study!
I will be first to admit this is the hardest class I have taken, but Pal has put in effort to help me pass and has gone above and beyond. The lab and online hw help to boost your grade so make sure you succeed in those areas. She wants you to succeed, put in the effort and she will make sure you pass. Great extra credit assignments as well.
Dr. Pal is a great professor! Yes the class is hard, but it's definitely possible to get an A or B. She makes the material interesting& easier to remember
She comes off intimidating at first, but she honestly just wants you to do well in her class! Great teacher. I would highly recommend her!! 4 big exams, online quizzes before each class, and a few extra credit opportunities there.
Very intimidating and may seem harsh but does actually care about the student. Best way to pass the class is to go to her office hours, she truly helps you if you come ask her. Her way of joking can come off rude but don't take it to heart.
Dr. Pal is a very dedicated professor. She constantly reminds you that Bio 205 is a natural science class so you will have to put in the effort if you want to do well. There are a total of 2000 points in the class. 4 exams each 300 points, online quizzes 300 points each, there is a quiz due before each class period and it's based on the readings.
TIPS: 1. WORK HARD IS THE KEY. ( I really mean it...) 2. STUDY SMART, NOT HARD. (learn) 3. RECORD LECTURES 4. ANSWER ALL "PAL Questions: My Thoughts about the class: 1. Dr. Pal is not hard. Anatomy is hard. Her lectures will enlighten you, if you pay attention. 2. IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET OVER 100% ON HER EXAMS. (But you have to work for it)
Go to class, pay attention, do the readings. You pass by learning the info as she teaches them bc then you already know it by test time instead of trying to cram. There's way too much info to cram. 1st test is toughest. She doesn't tell you, but she adds points to your test scores. Some people did poorly even with that so pay attention in class!
Dr. Pal is tough without a doubt but the class is really enjoyable. Her lectures are engaging and, if you do the readings as assigned, extremely clear. She may seem rude but it's just her sarcastic personality. Don't be intimidated, go to her for help, you'll most likely need it!
I'll be honest, this class is no joke, but DOABLE. I started the class failing EVERYTHING (first RAM, a D on the first lecture exam and 2 D's on the lab practicums and lab quizzes) and got an email suggesting to drop the course. But I figured out how to study and ended up with an 88% in the class. This class should definitely take priority!
Pal is an amazing professor, she truly wants you to understand the material. If you never had a bio class before, this will be difficult for you. I have had several, so I got an easy A in the class. MB is a must to pass, 4 exams, that's it. Amazing class, I absolutely loved her. She has a strong personality, which I love, but most find intimidating
Dr. Pal is one of the best professors I have taken at CSULB, When a Professor teaches a subject she loves her students learn to love it also. Keep up with PAL questions, Read the book, and GO TO CLASS!!! She also offers many opportunities for extra credit, make sure you do them they will help you. Lab is also fun, This class can be passed!
Don't take this class your last semester, trust me! I put in well over 20 hours of studying per week just for this class and struggled through the entire semester just to pass. It's way more work than a 200 level class should be, so be prepared! Dr. Pal is helpful if you go to her office hours, but don't expect her to be sympathetic.
The class is doable but requires a lot of time and effort. Although the topic itself is discouraging, Dr. Pal makes it extremely difficult to stay motivated, especially when keeps telling everyone to drop the class and to throw in the towel in the middle of the semester. RAM quizzes are helpful but focus on the exams! You can do it!
Honestly, Pal is a great professor with high expectations for her students. She's there to clarify anything you need and gives helpful study tips every week. If you put in the effort, you will pass. The material is actually very interesting too.
This class is VERY hard. Be prepared to study hard because there's so much information you have to take in... Do all of the PAL's because her tests and RAM's are based off of these. An A is definitely doable, you just need to really work for it. And record her lectures. That helps a lot. Attendance not mandatory, but you definitely need to go.
Pal's lectures are funny and engaging. You have to work in the class and actually study. Moderate studying can get you a B if you pay attention in lecture and lab. Do the PAL questions. Also assigns online homework due on tues and thurs, but it's really easy. Gives lots of extra credit. 4 tests and the labs are also simple. Would recommend.
Honestly the most stressful class I've ever taken for my science pre-reqs. There's a lot of material covered per exam, but just study the notes and the PAL Q's and you should be fine. There are RAM quizzes every lecture meeting so be prepared to study on a daily basis. Answers won't be spoon fed to you, critical thinking is a must!
This class was challenging . Requires a lot of studying and memorization. There are RAMS (quizzes) every lecture class, be ready for this and to use critical thinking. Do PAL's questions , it will help with RAMS. Just make this class your priority and you'll be fine.
Dr. Pal is one of the best instructors and you can tell by the enthusiasm she gives during lecture! The RAMs are intimidating but don't give up. Lab is amazing. Cadavers, enough said. If you keep this class a priority and want to learn about the subject, getting an A is not impossible! Would take her class again in a heartbeat.
I am prenursing and this class was my last prereq. I've never gotten a B in any class, ever until I took this class. Seriously. With that being said, however, I have a ton of love and respect for Pal. She wants you to succeed. She is on your side. I learned a lot but it was definitely a struggle. Dont take any other prenursing classes with this one
First and foremost: BIO 208 at LB State is very tough class. People will try to blame the professor but its untrue. I loved having Dr. Pal and would take her again. She is so passionate about anatomy and challenges you to ACTUALLY learn. No grades are handed out, only earned, so study. If you are entering the medical field, I highly recommend her!
Pal's lectures aren't the most enjoyable, but definitely not the class you want to skip. You definitely need to read the book in order to pass the mastering bio quizzes every night. They DO add up. This class isn't impossible, but can be challenging if you're not willing to read enough to grasp the subject matter. Some memorization needed.
First 2 tests, extremely tough. Last 2 tests super easy. No final. Post PowerPoints online however you will not understand them if you don't show up to class. Quizzes every night before class and you have to take the quiz before learning about the material, therefore you have to read the book. HoweverReally funny and does make lectures interesting.
Dr. Pal is so-so as far as professors go. Study hard, especially for that first test, and you should be okay. Personally I found her lectures to be EXTREMELY irritating, almost like she's scolding us for not knowing material we haven't been taught yet. But if she's your only option this class is definitely do-able.
dr pal is a grate professor really funny and inspiring however you really have to work hard it is not an easy class to pass you have nightly quizzes the bight before lecture go to class lecture attendance is a must the most helpful thing in this course are the pal questions if you do those you will get a good grade on your exams life savers
Its one of those classes you have to work really hard in if you want to pass. Be sure to pass all your mastering bio and lab quizzes they add up and they pretty much save your grade at the end of the semester. she offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. All the test are hard but you can pass them if you really study. DONT Procrastinate!
Dr. Pal was one of my favorite professors. She knows her stuff and she teaches the material very well. You do have to work hard to get a good grade in this class though. Reading the text is a must and to prepare for exams, DO THE PAL QUESTIONS! She does pick on random people during every class so always be prepared. Overall, great class!
Dr. Pal was great! Exam 1 should be easy it basic info BUT YOU NEED TO PUT IN THE WORK!! She seems very mean during lecture but if you go to her office hours, you receive a different Pal a nicer one.I would take her again. I put in the work and she saw that. ASK QUESTIONS! SHE TRIES TO BREAK IT DOWN EASIER IF YOU GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS!
Dr. Pal did not give up on me. Her constant encouragement and study guide pulled me through the semester. Expect time management. You will need Good study habits. Pay attention and seriously ask questions. Weekly online quizes, you need the book. Exams mostly power point based.
Dr. Pal is the Professor who will clear her schedule to ensure that you not only UNDERSTAND what you are learning, but that it is EMBEDDED in your brain. The thing is, you have to care as well. If you don't care to learn, why are you in College? This is a teacher who will help you succeed by any means possible, but you have to truly want it.
a lot of students will drop out of this class after the first exam because it is super hard. you will not pass this class easily.
The Class: Very organized with lab. Do the "tips to succeed" and you should get an A. Do all the PAL questions. Exams were pretty easy/straightforward if you actuall do the PAL Qs. Do APR for all terms, not just the 10 for the quiz. GO TO LAB OFFICE HOURS Pal: Harsh personality, belittles & mocks students, kind of funny, sassy attitude.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Requires so much time and studying, so many people drop. Pal is mean and will pick on you. Exams are HARD (300 points each). Class worth 2000 points! 3 Weekly quizzes (online and in lab) and one exam per month. You also have a group project in lab. Wouldn't recommend this class but its doable.
Avoid if possible. Terrible lecturer. She really just scared you off. Tests are not so bad, but the RAM quizzes killed me. Do PAL questions and try your best in lab because they save you. Honestly, this is one of the toughest class I've ever taken. No matter who you take, you absolutely MUST attend lecture and learn to study well in order to pass.
I just wanted to say thank you for being one of the best teachers I ever had last year. Your humor makes class enjoyable; being asked questions in class is intimidating so I read! Labs were effective. I may not have earned an A, but I passed and REALLY LEARNED A LOT. I hoped to see you again in anatomy, but it didn't work out. Thank you again!
Great lecturer and makes the hard stuff easy. If you want an easy A, don't take it. If you want to become a medical professional, TAKE IT. 3 years later after taking her class, I'm a medical student on my way to become a doctor and many of the things I learned from her class came as a great baseline for my physio and neuroscience classes.
I've had other professors who taught anatomy in a much more effective, methodical, and organized way. She doesn't put enough information of the sides so it's really distracting writing it all down and listening. Lab instruction is an absolute chaotic mess. Fails to inform students on important points when it comes to lab structures.
This "professor" is hands down the worst I've ever had. Condescending and belittling students left and right. Poor communication and overall just a rude sloppy woman.
